6 Films to Watch on Memorial Day
While honoring our slain and those who returned - here are 6 of my favorite Memorial Day flix https://wp.me/p2v8yf-6ri #memorialday #movies #podcast
Many Americans – young and old have given their life for our country in wars that have stretched out over decades. For the ones who survived and returned to U.S. soil, many of them will never be the same.  So, Memorial Day is a time for our country to rally around those men and women how risked their lives, left their families in order for those of us at home to feel safe.  In honor of all of…

literally no one asked so it's going under a cut and untagged but anyway here are the npcs from each d20 season (that i've finished) i'd cast jeremy jordan as
fantasy high: johnny spells. would put his whole pussy into the accent and unsettling dialogue. also it'd be funny having a man who famously cannot dance playing the leader of a dance gang plus the, like, single jace line in ep 3 bc otherwise my choice for junior year doesn't make sense
unsleeping city (1 and 2): dale lee. in my opinion, most of his best performances have been Wife Guys. not necessarily literally married, but have that energy. especially when the woman in question kicks absolute ass. sondheim would also be really funny though
fantasy high sophomore year (and pirates of leviathan): alistair ash. back to his silly and kinda pathetic little guy comfort zone
a crown of candy: calroy cruller. i'm gonna be real, this one's largely for thirst reasons. dgmw he'd do a fantastic job, but first and foremost it's because i wanna hear the monologue
misfits and magic: nurse stitchnit. i think he'd be really great with the big emotional beats with evan. some of his best work in supergirl was when they let winn be emotionally intelligent and supportive. (like with kara and her panic attacks in triggers, for example)
starstruck odyssey: honestly i don't have a strong opinion on this one besides the fact that it's gotta be someone from baustin, new texas. sheriff codge, maybe? idk just let the man be Aggressively Texan.
coffin run: emil ward. this one's just vibes. i see him doing the evil businessman thing very well.
a court of fey and flowers: the funny answer is jeremy renner. the thirsty answer is chooch. i'm saying chooch. we know he plays sluts well, also it's my list and no one else cares. if you're still reading this, you're probably as insane about jerjor as i am and will respect this vision.
neverafter: lord bainbridge bandlebridge. again this one's mostly just vibes i think he'd have fun with it.
ravening war: jaques tomate. he'd get real silly with the voice, it would be great
mentopolis: wilton (of "we're drowning in cum down here" and "if it's not about cock and balls, i don't care" fame) is the funny answer, and you know what, i'm sticking with it.
burrow's end: the thirst choices do not stop. jeremy jordan for bennett.
fantasy high junior year: jace stardiamond. the man plays a damn good fag who is, again, down bad for powerful people

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Red Allen, Al Bowlly, Iona Brown, Nicolas Cage, Marshall Chapman, Katie Couric, Dave Cousins, Dustin Diamond, Millard Fillmore, Five for Fighting, Gerónimo Baqueiro Foster, Juan Gabriel, the Gibson Flying V guitar (1958), Leslie Grace, Erin Gray, Clara Haskil, Sammo Hung, Zora Neale Hurston, Irrfan Khan, Linda Kozlowski, Earl Lindo, Kenny Loggins, Rick Marotta, Mike McGear (McCartney), Butterfly McQueen, Ruth Negga, Wintley Phipps, Richard Podolor, Francis Poulenc, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Jeremy Renner, John Rich, Bernadette Soubirous a.k.a. St. Bernadette of Lourdes, Kathy Valentine, guitarist Alan Lee Williams, Bernadette Soubirous, Rory Storm, and the great entertainer, Paul Dick better known as Paul Revere. The ride of Paul Revere & The Raiders began in 1958 as a rock’n’roll update on Spike Jones. Later Mark Lindsay joined and PR&TR morphed into a tight music act, pushing back on the British Invasion bands of 1964 with garage band energy. The Raiders kicked out hit after hit in multiple genres including bubblegum, country rock, hard rock, psychedelia, and soul/r’n’b, all with dazzling excellence. They cut the first definitive version of “Louie Louie” before leaving their Oregon base for Los Angeles, joining Terry Melcher (Byrds producer) to launch a prolific and innovative run of great records that still play today: “Just Like Me”, “Kicks” and (recently in the film ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD) “Good Thing,” “Hungry,” “Mr. Sun Mr. Moon,” etc.

In 1965, Dick Clark expanded his television jukebox, hiring PR&TR to host three TV shows, the best known being “Where The Action Is.” Before The Monkees even twanged “Last Train to Clarksville,” PR&TR had already set the bar for TV bands, gluing pre-adolescent me to the tube with rock’n’roll comedy and ear candy—and there was eye candy for 1000s of girls screaming for front man Mark Lindsay. He is also a powerhouse vocalist, able to croon soft sensual pop ballads then flip to paint-peeling bluesy growls.

The hits crested in 1971 with “Indian Reservation.” Then the band line-up shifted while Paul rode on with new back-up musicians. Over the years I’ve intersected with various Raiders (sidebar: One of my former drummers, Erik Nielsen, worked with the late Drake Levin, an under-sung guitar marvel).

Fast forward to January 2008. I’d been touring with Davy Jones (Monkees) for many years, and we often shared bills with Paul and long-time Raiders Ron Foos, Doug Heath, and Danny Krause—“brothers of the road.” We were on a cruise ship, floating somewhere on the Caribbean, partaking in Paul’s 70th birthday bash. During the revelry I got into a deep discussion with Paul about stage antics and how he got his Vox organ to “rhythmically float” on TV (he wouldn’t tell me the trick). Two years later, we were in Pittsburgh PA shooting a PBS-TV special and Paul enlisted me to persuade Davy to sing “Steppin’ Stone” with The Raiders (Davy balked, saying he didn’t want to wear Raider clothes, but eventually caved in). Sadly, Paul passed in 2014, but I’m glad I had the chance to tell him in person the joy and musical instruction he showed me on record and on stage.

If I had to pick one PR&TR track, it’s "Too Much Talk.” It blew my mind when I was a kid—my 45 of it cracked but I kept pressing it with my fingers till the vinyl tissued (the fidelity on this clip is a tad distorted, but the visuals speak volumes)…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG30aN53GkY Meanwhile, heavenly HB PR and thank you for your years of spreading fun on screen and stage.

My top 6 dimension 20 shows ranked with little to no context
So all you DnD dropout girlies know dimension 20 has some excellent excellent content. I started my actual play watching with D20 so I am, of course, biased, but I just prefer watching something that well edited with a range of play styles and game familiarity. The fact that some of the tables have players who have played for decades and others who are starting their first game is really great. The diverse, laugh-out-loud but somehow also make-you-want-to-cry game play is just unmatched. So, I decided to be moderately unhinged this Sunday afternoon and rank my favorite dimension 20 shows as of February 2023.
1. A Court of Fey and Flowers: Listen I was promised Bridgeton in the feywilds and Aabria Iyengar delivered. The epistolary phase! My ace pillar boy really doing the most. The “I’m taking my suitcase out on a walk.” Not to mention the fact that Jeremy Renner is an NPC.
Tumblr media
2. The Seven: I am nothing if not chaotic and I did, in fact, start my D20 watching with this show. The horse-girl energy was giving what it needed to give. The teamwork was excellent. I also love them. So there.
Tumblr media
3. The Neverafter: As a medieval-early modern girly with a hunger for oral tradition and retellings, this show is my catnip. It is at number three because we are only halfway through the season, but I am having a great time. Every time Emily or Siobhan light up at myth recognition, I too am excited. Also, death is everywhere so that’s a nice touch.
Tumblr media
4. Misfits and Magic: If I want to recommend someone watch a manageably small campaign this is what I recommend. All the PCs know how to craft the worst person to go to wizard school, which is glorious. Plus it is non-TERF wizard school content which we always appreciate in fandom spaces. Of course, you should also watch the holiday special, but yes, Aabria is an excellent GM once again.
Tumblr media
5. A Starstruck Odyssey: It’s a campaign based on Elaine Lee’s before it’s time graphic novel series. Of course, this is Brennan (give the monster a cookie) Lee Mulligan’s mother and their interviews explain so much about him as a person. The world-building, character, and story arcs are impeccable. See you in the stars forever and always.
Tumblr media
6. Fantasy High: I gotta include an oldie but a goodie. Will never be over watching this group work through teen adventurer problems. But also, unmatched NPCs. Bill Seacaster! Cathilda Ceíli! Wilma and Digby Thistlespring! Sklonda Gukgak! Our yogurt icon Gilear Faeth! Ayda Aguefort! All very good people who live rent-free in my mind.
Tumblr media
So I hope this moderately chaotic list was, if nothing else, fun to read. Stay nerdy intrepid heroes!
