Jeongcheol musings + analysis #2

So I am back with the quality content. Today I wanted to share my observations about Jeonghan's and S.Coups’ dynamics. Note that this is only a snippet of what is publicly presented, but I found it interesting. Also, I really wish I could do more justice to Cheol and not center everything around his ship w/ YJH, but I am not confident in doing that just yet as I am not well versed in couparangisms. Let's go do this for now!

S.Coups as a reliable authority

I think you can really see Seungcheol's leader side come out when he is with Jeonghan. And that means all parts of it, notably direction and support. Why am I mentioning this when S.Coups is of course the leader so it is expected? I find this interesting because to my eye Seungcheol is the only one in Seventeen having this power (not sure if this is the right word) over Jeonghan. I am not sure if this is because of the age hierarchy or in fact the leader role, but it is clear to me that Jeonghan finds S.Coups reliable and dependable, which is why he follows his leadership.

Here are some examples:

In this clip, Jeonghan was doing his ment and a carat apparently passed out in the crowd so other carats were calling for attention. Jeonghan didn't know what was happening at first. You can see Seungcheol pat his leg to continue the ment and when he fumbled for words a little, Seungcheol pat him again.

To me, this clip is a wonderful example of Seungcheol making things run smoothly and providing support. The carat was probably receiving attention from staff, and S.Coups must have known that if Jeonghan tried to address the situation in some way, it could cause unease in the crowd (possibly). But I think he also knew that Jeonghan is a bit of a worrier, and could be nervous in such a situation, so he patted him again, I think for support.

Here is another example of S.Coups “directing”. Coincidentally also at a concert. Mingyu was doing his ment and Jeonghan, knowing he was in the camera frame, got a little bit playful. Seungcheol stopped his hands in the end. Why? Not important, but in that moment Seungcheol evaluated the situation like that so Jeonghan stopped.

I have more examples, but I am writing this instead of sleeping and I am getting quite tired :D

Remember, this is all my subjective perception, always remember to use critical thinking.

Seungcheol wakes up in the morning after a stuffing still feeling very full. Jeonghan had pushed him further than he ever had before, and clearly his body still hasn't had time to digest the massive amount of food he had consumed. He places his hands on his belly and rubs the taut side.

Seungcheol has what Jeonghan lovingly refers to as a beer belly. Almost all of his weight goes towards growing it, and even when empty, it's firm to the touch. It's moveable, and you could press your fingers into it slightly, but it's much like a beach ball. When Seungcheol gets full it goes completely solid, completely immovable with no give to it at all. That's what it's like now.

Seungcheol wants to stay in bed, but he wants a shower even more, so he struggles to pull himself into a sitting position, something that is getting harder and harder these days. He groans and cracks his back, before rocking backwards and then forwards so he can stand up. The weight of his belly throws him off balance slightly, and he stumbles a bit. This happens to Seungcheol a lot. He'd been gaining so quickly, and his centre of gravity had moved so much that he wasn't yet used to the new ways his body worked.

He turns around and looks at Jeonghan, who's still in bed and is still asleep. He must have really knocked himself out after last night. Seungcheol smiles and head off to the bathroom.

Every time Seungcheol is in the bathroom before a shower he takes the chance to examine himself. He loves his new body and will take any chance to admire himself. He rubs his hands over his belly and massages slightly, before he feels something different.

There's a lump right at the centre of his belly, where his belly button is. Seungcheol looks closer and almost gasps. His belly button, which the previous day was a slight indent on his bloated gut, is now sticking out. He brushes his fingers over it again to confirm, and yes, his belly button has become an outie.

He almost freezes thinking about the implications of it. He'd eaten so much last night that there had been no room in his stomach for even his belly button. He's gotten so fat that his belly button, which before all of this was a standard innie belly button, had reversed itself and was now a small nub on his stomach.

Jeonghan is going to love this.

After his shower, Seungcheol returns to the bedroom to get changed. When he gets there, Jeonghan has woken up and is sitting up in bed to watch. Jeonghan's favourite thing is to just watch Seungcheol. He says he likes seeing his belly in motion. Seungcheol tells him to stop, but secretly he likes the attention.

He pulls on a pair of sweatpants and then a white t-shirt that isn't tight on him, but isn't exactly lose on him either. When he looks at himself in the mirror on the closet door, he sees how his shirt highlights the nub of his belly button. The fabric was no longer smooth over his rounded gut, now there was a belly button under there, pushing out the fabric even more. The fact that the shirt was only one colour made it even more obvious.

Everyone who looked at Seungcheol would now be able to see that he had become so fat that he had pushed his belly button out. Seungcheol could feel himself getting turned on just from the thought.

He sits on the bed with Jeonghan, hoping that Jeonghan will notice what's happened and find it just as hot as he does.

"What are we doing today?" Seungcheol asks.

"I dunno," Jeonghan says, clearly not paying attention as his eyes trace Seungcheol's body.

Seungcheol can almost see the exact moment when Jeonghan notices his belly button.

He frowns slightly. "What's this?" he asks. Seungcheol lets him push his t-shirt up so it's sitting on the shelf of his belly. Then Jeonghan stares.

He reaches out to brush his fingers against Seungcheol's belly button. Seungcheol suppresses the urge to shiver.

"This is your belly button," Jeonghan says.

Seungcheol nods.

"You ate so much last night that you pushed your belly button out?"

"Yeah."

Jeonghan's eyes go dark. "Fuck, that's the hottest thing I've ever heard."

Jeonghan directs Seungcheol to lean back against the headboard. Then he leans down to press kisses and lick the sensitive underside of Seungcheol's belly before traveling towards his belly button. Jeonghan licks it gently, and then scrapes his teeth along it and then sucks it slightly.

"Are you giving my belly button a blowjob?" Seungcheol asks.

"No. I'm just giving it the attention it deserves."

"What if you made me breakfast instead?"

"In a moment." Jeonghan goes back to ravishing Seungcheol's belly with his tongue and then his fingers.

When he comes back in with breakfast, they sit in bed to eat it.

"Do you think your belly button will go back to how it was before?" Jeonghan asks.

"I don't know," Seungcheol says. He hopes not.

"I hope not," Jeonghan says. Seungcheol smiles at him. They were thinking the exact same thing.

His belly button doesn't go back in. It remains a permanent fixture on his gut, showing just how big Seungcheol has gotten. He starts wearing tight t-shirts more often so that he can show off his new feature.

Jeonghan is even more obsessed with it than Seungcheol is. He likes to rub his fingers over it and flicks it and pokes it whenever he feels like it. It's quite dangerous, though, as it reminds Seungcheol of what he's done to himself, how much his body has grown, that it always turns him on. Jeonghan starts referring to it as his horny button.

Seungcheol loves gaining. He can't wait to see what his next development will be.

A/N: Long post ahead!! An introduction in a form of Q&A of how deep I am in this fandom. (For some reason I can't find the og twitter handle of the thread format I took, not even in my bookmark. Please dm me if you remember lmao)

— Their content and how self-produced they are!

or I can go deeper:

Music - every single one of them is such a banger and I'm still discovering more banger music from them. Then learning that Woozi is their producer just made me feel so proud of them.

Content - when I learned that they also do contents such as Going Seventeen, I got culture shocked LMAO. I never expected so much content from a boyband, let alone KPOP (they're the first kpop group that I stan) but I'm not complaining because that means we, carats, are getting fed with their content. Although with the knowledge of that, makes me overthink about their tight schedule and always wish that they are given the rest that they need.

Passion - their passion is out of this world, and I always find myself in awe with how they overwork themselves out. I recently started watching Going Seventeen starting from ep 00 and I can really tell that they exist because of carats. <3

Personality - how do I explain this…?

Each of them has their versatility that with and for every fancam or clip I come across is a new side to them that I learn for the very first time. May it be unhinged or not LMAO.

Friendship - I'm always a sucker for found family trope… Whenever I see them care for each other makes me wonder if I ever find people who will care for me platonically the same way they all look out for each other. Oh, to be loved.

Appearance/Looks - the cherry on top for me haha! Jihoon inspires me to workout often and I'm grateful for him to get me going. Also, as part of the queer community, I love how androgynous some of them are as it helps me feel better about how I look— nOT TO MENTION BONGBONGIE IS NONBINARY OMG!?

And last but not the least is the love of my life who stanned them before me :))

Verkwan - the epitome of my ideal couple: 'I look at you more than you think' LIKE??? That gives me butterflies in my stomach please.

Soonhoon - same with Verkwan although this ship screams youngest child x eldest child, I love how carat describes woozi as an anti-romantic when his love language is literally words of affirmation, and I believe he's just not that exposed to physical touch to which I believe that hoshi will fulfill that role. (ex. the neck kiss on uji's bday live omg)

Jeongcheol - Mama y Papa. I like what coupsie said in his recent fan call that you'd do anything for a loved one and same honestly.

— I'm glad it was love at first sight when I picked woozi as my ult bias, like an invisible string tugged me towards him on that day. Later learning that he's the music maker was my oh moment.

story time:

I went through both artist x math phase throughout junior high school but leaned more towards the artist and that one of them was making tunes to the lyrics my classmates used to write whenever there's a project that involved music. I was titled as the 'classroom's music producer' at that time, with the knowledge of playing violin, piano, drums and guitar made me relate to Jihoon so much in the long run while learning about his position in the group. In a way, I kin him because I know the struggle of creating music.

I wanted to say that I will always love him no matter what and I am happy to be his fan because it's as if I'm watching my male self, chase for his dreams that my current self-abandoned. His music is slowly but surely healing me in ways I thought nothing can, makes me feel excited with making music as well, and that's how I know that there's no regrets with me being a carat. I love you Lee Jihoon, and SEVENTEEN! <3

Soonhoon “Ghost” AU Part 2

• Soonyoung is able to get out of the Hospital 3 weeks later. • During those 3 weeks, Jihoon spent time with both Soonyoung and Soonyoung's family. • Jihoon is there with Soonyoung when he is able to sign himself out, and Jihoon texts Jeonghan like he had been doing the past 3 weeks ever since Soonyoung woke up. • "Man, your life is crazy. I'm glad your Not-Ghost-Lover is alive. Can't wait to actually meet him." • Jeonghan loves Jihoon's life. • Jihoon drives Soonyoung to his parents house, Soonyoung talking animatedly about how excited he is to see his house and how he can't wait to meet Jihoon's friends the next day. • Jihoon is excited to sit on his couch with Soonyoung by his side again. • Jihoon also knows that he probably looks very fond of Soonyoung, to any outsider. • When Soonyoung and Jihoon arrive at Soonyoung's parents house, Soonyoung's mom makes them sit in the dining room as she makes a home cooked meal for them. • Soonyoung and Jihoon sit next to Soonyoung's 8 year old brother, who is drawing a picture that looks oddly like Soonyoung and Jihoon. • The whole thing seems very domestic and reminds Jihoon of his friends. • Soonyoung looks up from Jihoon and his intertwined hand when Soonyoung's brother goes out of the dining room to play a game, leaving his drawing on the table.

• "So, you've met my family. When will I meet yours?" • Jihoon says, "You're meeting them tomorrow." • Soonyoung's hand shoots out of Jihoon's and immediately goes into his own hair. • "TOMORROW? WHAT DO YOU MEAN TOMORROW? I HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO PREPARE." • Jihoon is confused. • "But you knew they were coming to my apartment tomorrow just to meet you??" • "YOU TOLD ME YOUR FRIENDS ARE, NOT YOUR FAMILY." • Jihoon understands what he said wrong now. • "Oh." • "My friends are my family." • Soonyoung calms down immediately, and slaps Jihoon. • "I meant your parents, or like, siblings! Jesus Christ, Jihoon." • "Well, I guess Mingyu and Wonwoo are more like my parents. Mingyu cooks a lot and is caring, like a mom, and Wonwoo has fucking terrible dad jokes, like a dad. Plus they act like a married couple." • Soonyoung's eyebrows furrow. • "My friends are my only family, Soonyoung. My mom died when I was 11, which was when I could start seeing ghosts, by the way. And my dad cut contact with me when I was 18, because I'm gay. And my brother moved to the states and hasn't really talked to me since." • Soonyoung frowns, "Your dad seems like a dick." • "He is." • Soonyoung's mom comes into the dining room with a whole cooked meal, and Jihoon is so thankful for it because he's been living off of fast food ever since Soonyoung woke up. • Soonyoung is probably also very thankful for it. • After they eat, Soonyoung tells his mom that he is going to Jihoon's apartment for the night, and Soonyoung's mom smiles and gives them leftovers before sending them both off with a kiss on the cheek. • Soonyoung plays the radio in the car, and holds onto Jihoon's free hand while he drives. • Jihoon loves it. • When they arrive to Jihoon's apartment, he turns on the lights and drops the keys on his coffee table, pulling Soonyoung softly to the couch. • He turns on the television, and having Soonyoung next to him so close is familiar but also entirely new to him. • Now he can touch Soonyoung and wrap his arm safely around him as they "watch" whatever is playing on the television. • But like before, they mostly just converse. • Soonyoung kisses Jihoon somewhere around 1 am, after they were conversing for hours about different things. • Like what it was like growing up being able to see ghosts and what it was like actually being a "ghost". • Soonyoung straddles Jihoon's lap, kissing him deeply. • Jihoon sighs into the kiss, and he is so very thankful that Soonyoung is alive. • Soonyoung moves his hips, and Jihoon immediately grabs at them, pulling back. • "Don't start that, please." • Jihoon couldn't raise his voice past a mumble. • "I told my friends that we would be up by 9 and if you start then I don't think we're getting sleep tonight." • Soonyoung smiled at Jihoon. • "We should go to bed then." • And Jihoon seriously tried to keep from touching Soonyoung on the way to his bedroom, but he decided that it was okay if he didn't get much sleep. • But he lowkey regretted it in the morning when he heard banging on his door and that was what woke him and Soonyoung up. • Jihoon lazily got out of bed, and Soonyoung did the same, going for his bag and getting his clothes. • Jihoon grabbed whatever was thrown on the ground the night before, too lazy to actually go to his drawer. • He pulled Soonyoung with him to the door (which had constant knocks) after he was dressed. • Jihoon opened the door to see Jeonghan standing there, raising his hand for another knock, Seungcheol behind him, massaging his shoulders. • "Finally!" Soonyoung was the embodiment of your wildest dreams like even though Jihoon was actually on the brink of death, like my man fucking touched god, he was still horny when he got close to Soonyoung and kept smelling him like he was ambrosia or something. The writing style confused me at first, but you’ll get the hang of it. Jun basically does not know what he feels and just chalk’s up everything to awkwardness. This is a fic where someone pines after someone without knowing it.

Idk why but it broke me. All I know is I read this at midnight and fell asleep crying. I was an emotional mess for days after it.

(Ah maybe it’s because of how precious someone could be when they get what they deserve, even if they think they don’t deserve it.)

I really love how everything is emotionally straining. Main thought here is “so-this-is-what-it-feels-like-to-fall-in-love-slowly-but-also-all-at-once”.

Couldn’t read it all at once because of how consuming the emotions are. It’s that straining and the amount of uncertainty and flowery sappy sht will choke you.

Serious Talk: When Seungcheol becomes “Jon” and Jeonghan becomes “Kate”

Okay, so a little break before I get into my whole gender roles/sexism spiel, I want to talk specifically about fanfiction, specifically about kpop, and specifically about “mom and dad ships” in boy groups.

Yes, this applies to every mom/dad ship including -

Namjoon & Seokjin, Jeonghan & Seungcheol, N & Leo, Jaebum & Jinyoung, etc. and “single parents” like Taeyong and (I guess?) Suho.

But let’s be real, this next portion is really just going to apply to the “mom” sides of these ships.

I get it, it’s cute to think of your bias groups like a family--JongKey the husband and wife taking care of their dear senile father Onew, dealing with the hormonal breakdowns of their teenaged soccer star son Minho, and trying their best to stop their toddler son Taemin from eating ants. It’s kind of cute as a totally fictional concept--the quintessential nuclear family. But the problem is that it never stays entirely fiction for some shippers

Take, for example, Jeongcheol. Jeonghan is the gorgeous, refined, “mother” who frets over his children, especially his baby Chan. Seungcheol is the fun dad who lets the kids run through the house and ruin Jeonghan’s newly cleaned floors. It’s cute, (I guess, I mean this isn’t really my idea of a good time but whatever), but it became weird when fans started purposely misgendering Jeonghan. Jeonghan repeatedly stated that he is a man and that he doesn’t like the misgendering. The same thing happened with Seokjin, who didn’t want to put up with the whole Pretty-in-Pink Princess shit fans took waaay too far.

Now, I’m sure there’s some idols who wouldn’t mind that (especially since gender non-conforming idols do exist), but these two specifically, said they didn’t

It’s also a problem because it’s rooted in stereotypes. The idea that: Jeonghan had long hair, Seokjin mentioned liking pink, N having a somewhat curvy body, etc. and not actually anything the idol said about being female-identified. It’s rooted in the idea that ONLY women can do certain things and ONLY men can do certain things. And when you contrast this with the so-called “single parents” of kpop, it’s somewhat different

Taeyong is called the “mom” of NCT, but I haven’t really seen it to the point where he’s being misgendered in the sense that it is uncomfortable for him OR that it spills over into reality. It seems to just be fans’ imagination of what an alternate universe would look like if Taeyong really did just decide to adopt 17 kids. It’s also never really paired with stereotypes on femininity--at least not at the same level as Jeonghan and Seokjin. Of course, it can always cross that line but the key is to make sure it never does

As mentioned before, I don’t have any ships that I dislike or don’t ship, so the simple answer is no :) However, I do feel slightly effy about Meanie, JunHao, SoonHoon, and JeongCheol. Not in the sense that I dislike the ships themselves, but these are the ships I wouldn’t intentionally “look for”, I guess. I’d just let the moments come to me instead of digging out stuff on purpose.

I guess it’s just because I had a bad first impression of people/stuff associated with the above ships, so it was hard to disregard all of that and enjoy them like the others. This actually reminded me of why I took a break from WonHui some time ago lol, I guess I just got tired of the whole Meanie vs WonHui war where both sides conveniently give Wonwoo the “tsundere” title when it benefits their preferred ship, then go all “look Wonwoo is clearly uNcOmFoRtAbLe!!1!!!!11″, and come up with convoluted reasons as to why a similar moment with the opposing ship is not “valid” and shit. That’s just hypocrisy to say the least.

Also, I know Meanie shippers get a lot of shit for “micro-shipping”, but don’t all shippers? I’m just not okay with people pulling “serious” situations and making it about ships, especially when one of them was not even involved in the situation, like I saw this Meanie post about Mingyu’s dropped phone incident, and it was just… um?? Or, people commenting about some other ship under a video that is clearly intended for an unrelated ship. For example, JunHao comments spamming a JunSol FMV. Anyway, what I hated most about the Meanie vs WonHui thing was that some people would pull a reverse micro-shipping and pick on small stuff to prove why the opposing ship is “fake” or whatever. For example, “did you see how Wonwoo immediately stepped away from Mingyu/Jun when he got closer??” yeah, because Wonwoo’s world revolves solely around these two, every single action he does is somehow related to your precious ships.

Speaking of which, why is it that people assume if someone ships GyuHao they have to ship WonHui? It’s like ships outside of the quadrangle don’t exist lol. I ship JunHoon and WonShua, geez. And everything else.

Sorry, this turned into a rant more than anything, and all you wanted to know was if I dislike any popular ships :/
