Wow... Tumblr

Ain’t been on here for a WHILE. But I finally finished watching Supernatural last night and I have been an emotional wreck since, and I thought about Tumblr because this is where I used to get all my gifs and such from. I may have to make my page dedicated to Supernatural again.

Anyway, my life the past four years.. I finally moved out of my mom’s house almost 3 years ago. I’ve been living on my own since 2020. 2020 was a difficult time for me like it was for many. I had everything lined up for my move and then Covid happened and things went downhill very quickly. I couldn’t pay any of my bills and almost got evicted and became homeless. If not for the graces and generosity of others I would be living on the streets. Not a great way to start a life on my own, 950 miles from anywhere familiar. I’ve gained and lost many friends over the past few years, and I will be turning 33 in March.

Not sure if anyone remembers me or if those who I followed religiously are still around or friends I made on here are still present. But damn.. I missed y’all.

I am in process of writing my own book series now and have a goal to at least finish the first book by the end of the year. It’s about a fictional famous musician named Cliff Drakonas and whose best friend’s FC is Jensen Ackles, and that was before I had planned to finish Supernatural.. I held it off for a long time and I must say I am pretty disappointed in Dean’s death. It was such an anti-climactic way for him to die after his life’s work. I am happy that most everybody made it to Heaven, and it’s implied Cas became Jack’s right hand, possibly even an Archangel. I don’t know what new fandoms are out there anymore as I don’t have access to cable anymore, nor do I have a lot of time to watch shows like I used to. I have a full-time job now that’s third shift and pays very well and has great job security with lots of OT when it’s needed. I have a cat who I come home to every day. I am also a godparent now. I am still single and living on my own, which is very difficult in today’s world, but I am proud of where I am in life now.

I haven’t RPed for a while either, but I am ready to get back into that on my RP site I co-own.

Now with Supernatural over, I really have no idea what show to watch next or what to do with my life anymore lol. Supernatural was such a special show to me as it was for all the fans and I don’t think anything will ever come close to it, nor will anything ever fill the void of it not being there anymore. For now, Dean, Sam, Cas, Crowley, and everyone else will live on in my RPs, my Discord username (Castiel#1628), and my heart, as I’m sure it will live on in many people’s hearts.

I am 100% emotionally compromised right now, over a show lol. Geeze... Cried like a little baby earlier today when Carry On was stuck in my head.

So here we are. Officially halfway through the year. I gotta say, I’m quite proud of myself for managing to keep this up another for six months after the reblog challenge of 2020, but it’s proving a success considering the amount of new authors I’ve stumbled across in the process, and introduced to others! Just goes to show how important sharing/reblogging content is.

There’s also been a lot of hatred directed to the dark!fic community this month, and it saddens me that people just can’t leave it alone. If it’s not your cup of tea, you don’t have to drink it. This is not some Jonestown deal. My friends in this community are some of the most talented, kindest souls I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and they don’t deserve the abuse or threats they receive. about me ~ roleplaying

hello, my name is mckenna. i'm 22 years old living in canada (est) and have been rping for over 9 years. originally, i was on a site called quotev until recently due to admin issues. i'm looking for another place to roleplay similarly to how i did on there.

i am a descriptive rper. i view rping like writing a book with another person and therefore my replies are usually novella/multi-paragraph replies. i love aesthetics and descriptiveness in my roleplays. i also love plotting because it makes me more excited for the rp. i usually do 1x1 rps both original and fandom. original rps i only double up on (we both make our own love interests and play each others) unless my partner prefers to play the love interest. original storylines of mine are usually romance related.

i only rp with people 18+ because i prefer writing mature content. i feel it's more realistic and it is something i enjoy writing.

IMPORTANT: i have borderline personality disorder which i'm becoming much more aware of since my diagnosis in 2020. roleplaying is something i am extremely passionate about and i have created my oc and worked on her for all these years. i'm attached and proud of her immensly. because of my bpd, i am very passionate about things to an extreme extent sometimes. i love my ocs and use the same two face claims every time because when i see their faces they are not that person they are my oc. one of the face claims is amber heard. i've used her as a face claim for almost all of my rping career. when i first saw her face she was exactly how i pictured my oc to the t. i fell in love with her face because it reminded me of the oc i love so dearly. in the light of recent news with the whole amber vs johnny thing i simply cannot pay attention to it because i feel hurt that the face of the oc i love is owned by a bad person. i do not condone anything that amber heard has done. however, to me her face is not her it is my oc and therefore i have to use her as a face claim. the face claim i use depends on the fandom. you must be alright with me using her as an fc. if you are not then i am not the best rp partner for you. please do not comment or message hate about this.

Jared Padalecki on Latest ‘Walker’ Tragedy: ‘It’s Heartbreaking All Around’

Since this hour was supposed to be the season finale (read on for more), that means there’s a whole lot left to come following this fatality. So we went straight to the star of the show for some insight into what’s next and really, just to check in with Jared Padalecki, because, well, he’s the best.

Sir!

Jared Padalecki: How the hell are you?

Doing great. But you’ve got to be tired though, man.

Tired was a month ago. This is like delirious. This is just a few steps past tired. [Laughs]

You’re wrapping up the season in a couple of weeks, right?

Yeah. We wrap, as of now, we wrap on the 18th, whatever that Friday is. And I was supposed to have today off, but we had this massive thunderstorm in Austin yesterday, and we had to push a couple of scenes till today. It’s just something every day. [Laughs]

Every day, right. This is why your name is on top of the title.

There you go, yeah. I know that. I know that.

So let’s talk…this season’s been so great and you must love the challenges that you’re being given.

Oh, big time. After so many years on Supernatural of doing some really difficult work in a country that my family didn’t even live in, I certainly didn’t want to sign up for a cakewalk. I wanted to sign up for a storyline that I love. You know that I wanted to retire after Supernatural. And then when this idea kind of came up, we started talking about it and I was like, “God, I’d love to help tell that story.” And so now that I have the ability and the privilege to help the story, I’m super excited. It’s a lot of hard work and that’s kind of how I operate the best.

And it’s allowing you to play some beats that, even after 15 years on Supernatural, you maybe didn’t get to play as far as the protective father. And while Jensen Ackles was your sidekick, your partner and your brother, here you get Micki (Lindsey Morgan) and it’s a totally different dynamic. It’s a different relationship.

Absolutely. It’s fun. I played a little brother for 15 and a half years, 327 episodes, and so to play a big brother and play a father has been a really awesome experience and exploration. I am a big brother in real life. I’m a little brother as well, but I have a little sister. I am a father now. And obviously, when Supernatural started, I was not. And when I’m not on camera, that’s been the main theme of my life…I’m a father and I’m a spouse.

How much richer is this experience because you get to go home to family?

It’s pretty crazy. It’s what I’ve wanted. It’s why we were willing to say goodbye to Supernatural because Jensen and I wanted to meet our wives and kids. So it’s great to come home to a family that loves you and is happy to see you. I can come home and I’m exhausted, it’s been a long day, my back hurts and my brain hurts, and I have a big day at work tomorrow…but it’s great to come home after a long day of hard work and have the kids come run up and go like, “Hey, Dad. Let’s go play!” [Laughs]

And it helps also with Walker, seeing what he knows he was missing. Because life imitated art for a little bit: I was off in Vancouver working, and Walker was off undercover working. And then you come home and go like, “Man, I should’ve been here all along. I can do work I’m proud of, I can tell a story, I can play a character and see my family.”

Gen is already on the show, so I’m waiting for the kids to kind of play in the background.

[Laughs] Now that would be great! I think when the COVID protocols and stuff get removed or whatever, hopefully we can have that done.

Maybe just get to play like young Cord and Liam (Keegan Allen).

I love it. I love it.

Now, this episode that you came back with, I’m so bummed because Hoyt is such a great character and Matt is so good. The show needs somebody like this, the relationship that exists between Cord and Hoyt. And then you went and killed him off!

Oh, believe me, we all yelled at Anna [Fricke, showrunner]. We were all like, “What are you doing?!” And she was like, “I’m crying too.”

These people have been through enough. I only just got over Emily.

[Laughs] It’s one of those things. It was very similar to when Bobby Singer, who was played by Jim Beaver, died on Supernatural. It was like, what? What are we doing? But then you ultimately have to remind yourself, well, we’re telling a story and this is really good TV.

True. It does cause new drama. With the Cord-Geri stuff, you now have an added layer of grief…

And guilt

And then you’ve got Abeline (Molly Hagan). She’s going to be devastated.

Of course. We’re all devastated. And even Bonham (Mitch Pileggi) came around and realized, with his tough love and grit, that Hoyt loved the family. He was a bit wayward, but he would have done anything for the Walkers. And ultimately he does make the ultimate sacrifice for them. And so, for me, I’m like, “Dammit, no, don’t do that.” But the producer in me is like, “Dammit, that’s good television.”

It was so brilliant to set it all up with the Rodeo Kings arriving at the ranch, and then almost hit the pause button for the flashback episode to Emily’s death. Of course, we were all wondering is Liam has just been bleeding out for the last five weeks.

[Laughs] Yeah, that was a great way to kind of let the audience know, hey, here’s what’s going on in real time. Now we’re going to go ahead and spend a little bit of time explaining exactly how we got here. And it’s heartbreaking all around.

And this was supposed to be your season finale, right?

Not anymore. [Laughs] We were originally picked up for 13 episodes. And then when we got the season 2 pickup, they added five episodes. So this episode stayed the same, this originally was our season finale and it��s easily our biggest, baddest episode yet. It’s huge. It was kind of a three-part finale culminating in episode 13. And when we had those five episodes added, we didn’t subtract anything from this episode. We kept it all.

And how does this spin you out? Because normally we get to the finale and then they’d have all summer to write the pickup and what’s going to happen. But you get five more episodes.

Well, we find out in this episode that the deception and the criminal activity spreads beyond just the Rodeo Kings. We find out that something else is rotten in Denmark. That puts Walker into another situation where he’s forced to grieve loss yet again, but has a really important job to do at the same time.

It’s so cool how this is just not the show a lot of people expected it to be. It’s funny and emotional and layered and really beautifully shot. It’s not just action for action’s sake. I’m also obsessed with Duke’s Texas Rangers baseball cap.

Isn’t that great? That thing is awesome. They found an old school one and aged it. It’s such a cool cap. I’m going to be stealing that, for sure.

It’s the perfect piece for the show because it also kind of ties into that whole old-school Walker history and the design is amazing.

Yeah. I frickin’ love that. I’ll have to steal you one as well.

So what are your plans for the summer?

Well, we shoot until the 18th. So I think probably for a week or two, I’m just going to hit the pressure-release valve, pretend it’s a pandemic again and not answer my phone and not go anywhere. Just hang with the family. It’s awesome to see the family every day, but I’m half-elsewhere [when shooting]. So I think for the first week or two, I’ll just be playing with the kids. Our daughter is still in preschool and our boys are in school, so we’ll just spend some time together. And then my birthday is next month.

Oh right! It’s so weird to not have Comic-Con happening live, which was always over your birthday weekend.

It’s is so weird, I know, right? It’s so weird to not be filming or Comic-Con-ing. But we’ll do something fun. It’s my last birthday before the big four-zero, so we’ll do a road trip or something.

Well happy birthday in advance and we’ll definitely be talking later.

It’s not about a conspiracy.

So Supernatural ended and, in usual Supernatural fashion, it went down in the craziest, most meta way possible. Two episodes before the finale, they canonized Destiel through Cas’ love confession to Dean then, in one last queerbait, didn’t give Dean a chance to respond then completely left Cas out of the rest of the narrative. Of course it couldn’t end there so a dub error aired in Latin and South America where Dean reciprocates.

Fans, of course, lose their shit and conspiracies fly that this was the CW quashing the Destiel storyline.

Was it?

I seriously doubt it. Not that the CW isn’t very problematic with killing gays and the movement to bring this to light is a good one. However, the script that we have seen says Dean doesn’t reciprocate. Misha said it wasn’t in the script. And the ending that we got confirms that they never intended this to be anything more than Castiel’s ending (hell, the band Kansas may have planned to get more air time ROFL).

It’s much more likely that the whole thing is shitty, thoughtless writing. Let’s be honest, SPN fumbled their way into greatness way more often then they planned it. Let’s face it, Kripke never intended this show to go beyond 2 dudes in a cool muscle car killing things. He never meant to address the deeper issues of fate, God, angels, and free will - he has said as much. He was extremely lucky to have gotten some very talented writers like Ben Edlund who were able to make this shallow idea into a deeper, more complex story. And if it weren’t for the incredible talent of the actors who brought life and meaning and nuance to some pretty bad scripts, this should would never have survived this long. Jensen Ackles’ facial expressions can give us so much more than the words that were on the script. Not to mention a passionate and engaged fandom that could take a throw away line and latch onto it (likely to the surprise of even the writers).

Endings are hard and writers who have to write endings often try to go for shock value and edginess over good story completion. This is why the best show endings are usually the ones that were planned as one story arc from day 1 (see Black Sails, The Good Place, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, Schitts Creek, Breaking Bad). These endings were designed as the culmination of the story narrative that was built towards it. They don’t need to end with happy endings and we may lose great characters, but the narrative and overall arcs stay true and are completed. That’s why they are so satisfying. Supernatural, on the other hand, was never supposed to go 15 years and no one had any idea how to end it. Each year they had to keep going they had to scramble to come up with and idea and Chuck being the ultimate big bad was a stroke of genius that was stumbled into and definitely not planned since the beginning.

When J2 decided it was time to move on, the writers had to figure out an ending. We know from cast meet and greets that as recently as weeks before the were supposed to shoot the finale it was still being changed and was pretty shaky. On top of that, just as they were supposed to shoot their finales, Covid19 hit and whatever it was they planned had to be re-written because of restrictions and logistics and they couldn’t just wait till Covid was over because their cast and crew had new jobs lined up they needed to move on to. So, they scrambled and cobbled something together and, like GoT, HIMYM, and Dexter, tried to go for shock and edgy rather than looking back at the themes of their narrative to tie it all together. It ended up coming across as lazy and mediocre at best, regressive and queerphobic at worst. But I don’t think they ever planned to make this anything but a nostalgic homage to the pilot. Again, I’m sure they thought they were being clever, but it backfired.

It was so empty and disjointed from the rest of the narrative that much of the audience watched thinking that can’t possibly be what was planned! The story must have gotten gutted by the CW or something, right? Tell me they didn’t just completely ignore the boys’ character growth and the queer storyline that had been a major thread for a dozen years! Guys, that’s exactly what they did because, in their minds, having the finale be nothing but a call back to the pilot was some crackerjack writing. They were actually proud that they would get to make everyone cry, make only 30% of fans satisfied, and be so shocking they upstaged Game of Thrones for an ending (all Dabb quotes that I don’t feel like finding and citing but you can easily). Jared even talked about all the things they put in there from the clothes to John’s journal to make it a big homage to the pilot. Sadly, that approach just made it hollow because it made the audience wonder what the other 15 years were for. But sometimes writers shoot for something and miss... by a long shot.

So I know the conspiracies' can be fun. I have had a blast the last few days laughing at the memes and the powerpoints. But please, take them with a grain of salt and don’t go down a dangerous rabbit hole. The most likely answer is right in front of our faces: shitty writing. Stay sane. Stay an SPN family.

And by all means, keep fighting for better queer representation. Boycott the CW (I know I never plan to watch anything there again) and unfollow their social media. Stop spending money on official merchandise and support artists. Use the hashtags to bring attention to the treatment of LGBT characters in media. Make your voices heard loud that we deserve better. But if the focus is on some Spanish dub conspiracy, it will be brushed off as crazy fangirl nonsense. Focus on the actual intentional behavior that we know they did; the queerbait of Cas in 18 to gain audience interest for a finale that had no intention of paying off. Focus on the killing of all of the LGBT characters in media. And find stories of good representation and solid consistent story arcs to support (the ones I named above are a few excellent examples).

I love you, my passionate, thoughtful SPN family. Just try to stay sane and level headed through your ire.

Dabb: Ultimately, we came up with something that we're all very proud of Singer: You never know what the audience is going to like so we really tried to say "what would make us happy? Would we be satisfied with where we've taken them?"

The Carry On song was a guideline.

Singer: The myth of what these brothers were throughout 15 years... We didn't shy away from fatalism, but we wanted to be able to have it be kinda uplifting as well.

Dabb: If you're going to do something that feels like a complete arc, you have to kinda go back to the beginning of it (clips of them hunting vamps from s1 & 15.20) When it comes to Sam & Dean- it's all about getting back to, in some ways, these two guys on the road in this car.

Dabb: They've been doing this job for 15 years now. They've fought everyone from demons to vampires to God himself, but at the end of the day, they're still working guys, out there on the road & taking cases. We've tried to never lose sight of that.

Dabb: There are times when we've been wrapped up in our own mythology a little bit. We've always tried to get back to the basics, which are: these two guys, saving people, hunting things.

Eugenie: I think we sort of knew generally what the ending would involve.

Eugenie: We might not have known the mechanics, but we sort of knew there would be a victorious, glorious sacrificial ending bc I think sacrifice is a big theme in the series.

For every great thing you do, a cost must be paid.

Singer: Andrew & I talked about it. We were in agreement pretty quickly... talked to the rest of the writing staff & let them know what we wanted to do and we were open to suggestions. And then we pretty much pitched it to Jared and Jensen.

Jensen talks about flying to LA. Jensen: So before we ever even started 15, we knew how the last portion of the story was going to go. We didn't know how we were going to get there, but we kinda knew the final- the finish line- we knew what... what that was going to look like.

Jared: I don't think there's ever been a season of SPN in 15 years where the way the writers thought the show would play out for that season- ended up being the way it played out And so we were aware of that. They told us here's what we're thinking, here's what happens to Castiel

Jared: In the finale, Dean dies & Sam lives on. And then we think they're going to meet up in heaven.

I remember Jensen... just because I know him so well- he seemed to bristle a little bit.

Jensen: It was hard to hear then & it was hard to read now. Not because I didn't like it, not because I wished it had gone differently... I'm not adverse to it. I think it's a great ending. I'm proud to film it.

Singer: And we just aimed for that, you know, throughout the season. We knew where we were going.

Jensen: Reading it & knowing that... there's just a weight that is so much larger reading these scripts than I've ever experienced before.

There's an emotional weight that these scripts are going to carry & these episodes are going to have that I don't think we've ever seen before.

Brad: [J2] were so young when all of this started. They brought to it such conviction & such commitment to the effort.

That's one of the things that kept the show going for so many years... a show that was designed for very young guys, footloose & fancy free, & on the road…

Brad: To see these guys grow up b4 your eyes into- men, not boys any longer- was amazing.

BABY Jared: Though the story does involve Sam & Dean chasing supernatural things, it really is a story about two brothers that love each other & ultimately will do anything for each other.

Jensen: There's really one person that gets it on the level that I get it, and that's Jared. Jared: I've never spent as much time with another human being as I have with Jensen Ackles. He will be my friend and brother forever. And I know that.

BABY Jensen: There's a lot of dynamics between the two brothers, there's a lot of history between them, there's a lot of banter between them... it's good stuff S15 Jensen: We had a partner in crime & we leaned on each other for, you know, for times when it was tough.

Jensen: But we also won together. We got to share the experience of success & the experience of getting picked up for another season. Watching these two characters go through what they're going through, when we're working 14 hours & it's 2-3 o’clock on a Sat morning and we're just now finishing filming out in the rain and mud and we gotta race to the airport to get on a plane because we've got a photoshoot in LA & we've gotta do on camera interviews and we gotta promote the show that we love so much that we were just in the mud & the rain filming hours before we're exhausted and it's like there's only one person that gets that right now. That gets how I feel and that's this guy standing next to me. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool to have somebody like that.

Brad: We knew it was going to be impossible to tie up every aspect of all of the cans of worms that we opened up.

We did want to bring a proper ending to the guys, the guy's relationship.

Brad: Then of course we had this huge corner we painted ourselves into with the most powerful thing in the universe being the big bad of the season. We try and find a proper send off for Jack & for Cas. What to do w/ the boys & is that a together farewell or an individual?

It was just... lots of moving parts.

Dabb: I give a lot of credit to Bobo who really was the one who started banging the drum early & often to ending the mythology in 19 and end the characters in 20.

Brad: You're battling God & battling God & you have this epic situation going on through the first 3/4 of the show & then what? You send off Dean in act 4? That just felt wrong. Eugenie: We had this obligation, it was really mandatory, that we tie up the mythic narrative and leave the final episode for the emotional resolution. I [was] more on the side of not wanting to best God. To have God change to be more like his creations. So there were philosophical arguments, but we always knew God's resolution was going to be a big ticket item.

Jensen: We'd started day 1 of the 2nd to last episode, 19. We were 1 day down on that episode & we were just about to start our 2nd day & we got the call that morning that we were not going to be coming in that day.

Jensen: So we figured ok, we'll figure out protocol, figure out what we need to do, & we'll just regroup, come back on Monday. As that day progressed, it was like- this looks like more of an apocalypse that is ascending upon us than just a bad cold.

They pulled the plug & they said everybody go home.

Singer: Fortunately, we got assurance from both the studio & the network that one way or another we were gonna finish the series. That was comforting to us, but we didn't know when we were going to go back.

Eugenie: We didn't know what we were going back to... if this was the last time we would ever see the set. There was no plan. It was just get out of dodge. Dabb: When it first happened, we thought it would be a couple of weeks, maybe a month.

I had conversations w/WB where they expected everyone to be back shooting in June & then things got worse & pushed & pushed.

Eugenie: Slowly as we settled into that 4 or 5 month period, discussions were going on w/the studio, & the networks, & the actors. We knew there would be restrictions on what we were allowed to shoot, but finally, the mechanics were figured out.

Singer: So they were ready to go pretty quickly, shooting in Van, where covid wasn't quite as virulent as it was [in LA].

Dabb: We were one of the first shows, one of the first WB shows to start back up. So in a way, we were kinda a guinea pig. But, in being that, I think everyone took it really seriously. We had 0 positive tests. Crew members weren't going out on the weekends.

They were like look, if I get sick, it hurts the whole show. That speaks to the family culture up there, where we've had so much of our crew for so long. Where J2 & Singer provide such great leadership.

Singer: When I was in prep for 20, I was basically in the office but couldn't go to the set. It was very odd for me not to be able to go to the set while I was in prep.

Everybody just hung in there & did what they were supposed to do.

Brad: Then we were faced with the dilemma of having to rewrite a lot of the stuff bc of the pandemic bc of the limitations that we knew were going to come on the production.

Jensen: We were gearing up for, not only the end of that season, but the end of the series. There was a lot of big, big things written-packed- into those last two scripts.

Jared: At first, it was supposed to be a lot of our old cast from prior seasons in a Roadhouse with Kansas.

Everybody had already agreed. Kansas was going to be in Van. We were going to have dad there & mom there. Just probably 20 or 30 different actors & actresses who had been a part of the SPN's canon over the last 15 & a half years.

Jensen: It was scheduled to be the last day that we were going to film, so it was almost like rolling right into a nice wrap party on camera.

Brad: The idea of flying a boatload of ppl up there to quarantine for 2 weeks so they could shoot for a day was making less & less sense.

Eugenie: How do we make this work? And while you're doing that, you also don't want to sacrifice the heart and soul of the project.

So we came up with a reduced, much more intimate ending. It has been replaced by something equally magical & rewarding.

Singer: I felt an enormous responsibility in directing the finale of a show that's been on for 15 years. Andrew, when he saw the cut, he said some really nice things to me as to, you know, the way I handled the material.

Jensen: The scenes that were filmed on our last day on the sound stages were filled with the most emotion of the final episode.

Singer: One of the really hard things was we're on another stage that wasn't the MoL stage & they started wrecking the MoL sets

They'd been working on this set and been apart of this- this family for just as long if not longer than the set's been around. I was like "it's really sad seeing this get taken down" and the other guy said, "I'm trying to hold back tears while I'm swinging this hammer."

Jared: As we start saying goodbye to characters, to locations, like it just seems like every day you would wake up and there would be some reason to cry.

Misha: This is a show ultimately about love, & empathy, & caring, & I think that Castiel embodies that.

Misha: Half the crew was crying. It was really such a sweet, supporting environment to be in for the demise of a character that, of course, for me is really important.

But it was so lovely to see that, you know, the folks that I'm- I'm working with were also there for Cas at that moment.

Alex: To get to work with these caliber people & see your friends every day is really special & is not something that often happens in this business for this long. It's been definitely a topsy turvy last couple weeks here with us and the crew.

Jared: Friday of the final full week was the big scene in the barn with the vampires where Dean suffers his fate. They did the first two days with the entire stunt team & the young boy actors.

And then they cut it for Thursday night and they're like, okay, Friday, tomorrow, we’re starting the dialogue. Dean, you're on the post. Sam, you just cut off the last vampire's head.

That was the scene- that was where Supernatural was really encapsulated.

Jensen: And then the next week we kind of had this- on the road encore get together filmmaking scenario that felt more like we made it & it was more pats on the back as opposed to tearful goodbyes.

Dabb: In a weird way you can look at the 15 seasons is like Sam & Dean's emotional evolution. You know instead of therapy, they kill vampires, but other than that it's kind of the same & brings them both to a very good place. And a place where they can, as the song says, you know, lay their weary head to rest.

This felt like the most honest & emotionally fulfilling episode for these characters to us. Jared: I got thinking about how Supernatural started & how the majority of times how I thought it should end. It started with Sam & Dean Winchester. I think it's proper that it ended with Sam & Dean Winchester together again.

Jensen: When the cameras stop rolling & Bob yelled, “Cut!” and Bob yelled, “That’s a series wrap on Supernatural.” There was- a there was a loud cheer that echoed through that canyon we were filming in. I will- I will happily say that there were hugs that happened and that needed to happen. Those are people that I spent not just years with, but so much time with- it's like brothers in arms and so to put it to bed the way that we did felt really good and then felt good to hug some people, I'll tell you that much. Singer: I thanked everyone, but I wanted to really thank people who had been with us from the beginning and as I looked around, there were so many people who had been there from the beginning.

We really were a family. I always say about this show is one of the reasons that it was a success and is that it was not only about the Winchester family, but it was about the Supernatural family.

Jared: So now that's all said and done, I guess I can look back at it and just be proud that I helped this show carry on and I'm really proud of the blood, sweat, and tears that I put in, and I feel like- I feel like that sacrifice was also maybe one of the things I learned from Sam, you know? Sam had to sacrifice a lot. So, I'm honored and flattered and grateful that I got to be a part of that journey.

Dabb: You're never going to have another show like this. You're never gonna have another experience like this. For a lot of different reasons, from how long it ran, from the family that the show became, from the amazing fans that we have. [Footage of us] From the emotional investment people can put in over 15 years of their lives.

Some started watching this when they were in high school, when they were 15, they're 30 now, they might have kids. That's their- that's like half their life. They've been with this show. You're not gonna have that again. Shows just aren’t gonna run this long, especially genre shows, but I don't know that I'm ever gonna do anything else in my career that I'm gonna be more proud of than having been involved in this show.

Jared: The things that stick out are just how important it is to keep putting one foot in front of the other. And keep on working and wake up every day and treat it like it could be your last and- and if you make it out the other side, you'll be happy and proud of what you did.

Jensen: The crew had packed up, they had cleared the bridge, and they were all starting to, you know, load their trucks and get moving. And Jared and I just kind of hung back, and we just took a moment. I looked at him and I said, “I’m proud of us, man. I'm proud of what we've done.”

We know that that's the collective we, that is everyone that is involved, that is- you know from the top down. You know, for our portion, for what we contributed to this monster of the show, he and I reflected on that, and still able to see and smell the roses.

I’ve been reflecting a lot on Cas’ recent confession of love and the responses I’ve been seeing across tumblr and Twitter. As a Destiel fic writer, I am thrilled to see this become canon and as a queer woman, also really touched to see how much Misha has embraced this as a really significant thing. I already ordered my Only Love merch. So I’m content with it all as much as it is. SPN has never made queer representation its issue. SPN *has* responded to its fanbase, who have both pushed the importance of representation and also brought the actors into a realm of growth over queer issues that they may never have come to without this show and this fandom. For that reason, I don’t think it’s helpful to be mad at Jensen or the Showrunners for Destiel not being perfect. You don’t have to celebrate them as allies, but the anger and vitriol just doesn’t help, in my opinion.

BUT...where my thoughts have been going is around what it means to be an actor in a ‘ship and what the impact of the story has on the actors, the fandom, and the constant dance of who controls the story because I think this has been something that even with straight characters has had serious impacts on how fans feel about an ending.

My first fandom, Starsky & Hutch, was mostly written by a gay man who wrote “straight” characters because that was what they had to be in 1974. The characters and show plots were such that the actors felt the love underneath the words and acted accordingly. Back then, it wasn’t so much queer baiting as queer coding. I find it amazing that my parents never thought for a minute Starsky and Hutch were gay, but even as a 7 year old, I knew they were in love and saw them that way. And anyone who watches the show now, it’s so clear that it’s almost laughable. When their show won the Peopel’s Choice award in 1977, David Soul said in his acceptance speech that the best part of being on this show was that people saw two men who “could be anything”. He knew that queer folk read their characters as gay and that straight folks saw them as straight and he was happy for both to be true. While the show never had an explicitly romantic declaration, the characters held hands, hugged, and in the final episode, their final scene is Hutch crawling into Starsky’s hospital bed with him, something done with amusement, but was completely coded to mean something else. It was never “canon”, but the ‘ship has lasted 46 years with new fic being written even now.

In the new SW films, actor Oscar Isaac was not at all quiet about his feelings that his character, Poe Dameron, was in love with Finn. He stated he played him that way (and was not directed otherwise) and he even explicitly asked for that ship to be made canon. He was told no and that is not how the story ended. The romance plot was instead focused on two other characters. Some fans liked that. Many didn’t. In general, though, the story is open-ended enough that shippers could have Stormpilot be their ship and there is nothing that really contradicts that. In that scenario, Oscar had his sense of who this character was and felt strongly about that, but in the end, it wasn’t his story, so the ending was what it was.

Hawai’i Five-0 ended its 10 year run last spring. Actor Scott Caan said in an interview during the show’s 5-year mark that he wanted to see his charcter have a romantic story line with his other lead, Steve McGarrett. And while Scott did not go so far as Oscar Isaac did to say he made his acting choices based on that, watching him and Alex play their characters, there was definitely some intention to show their characters as loving one another. Actor Alex O’Loughlin voiced a few times over the years that he felt his character would not get back together with Catherine, a woman his character was on-again, off-again with, because he felt Steve had reached his limit with what Catherine had done to him. The series made a decision to end with Steve leaving Hawai’i behind and flying away with Catherine. Neither actor has commented much about the show’s ending, but clearly it went against what both actors had publicly expressed in the past. Again, they don’t control the story, but they do understand their characters after playing them for so many years and they are invested in that. In that sense, the actor’s subsequent silence about how the show ended says quite a bit. And McDanno fans were very unsatisfied with the show’s ending, myself included.

So we come to Destiel. Over the years, this ship has been very controversial in part because one actor (Misha) has clearly been OK with his character being perceived as being in love with Dean, while the other actor (Jensen) has not. At times he has been very negative about it, and that has been taken by some fans to imply how Jensen feels about homosexuality in general. I’m not convinced it does, but I understand why people feel that way. Over the 12 years since Cas’ introduction on the show, there clearly has been a shift from the writers and showrunners avoiding the topic entirely, to talking about it, and now to having Cas confess his feelings of love to Dean in canon. In the days since, Misha has been unequivocal in saying Cas is romantically in love with Dean and that he has played him that way, at least for this season and likely longer. Misha is proud that he was able to advocate for Cas to be gay and he clearly understands why it is important for the show to have made this choice. For Jensen’s part, however, he has stated he has not played Dean that way and from video clips of him talking about the show’s ending, it appears that he needed some convincing to accept this as the story. To his credit though, once he was convinced that this was something show creator (Eric Kripke) could envision as part of Dean’s character arc, he was on-board with this ending and feels statisfied with it. And I think some of the frustration folks feel stems from both in how the actors portrayed their characters and in which takes were chosen to be in the final cuts of episodes. In that way, the show has fed this ship, whether the actors realized it or not, and that is why Destiel has felt particularly painful at times. The fanbase has been gaslighted for seeing it at all (from actors and showrunners) while the directors have seemed to go out of their way to choose shots where the actor’s choices were more tender and affectionate and write lines where characters make explicit statements about Dean and Cas as romantic. I can’t help but wonder if Jensen really didn’t see Dean as being in love with Cas, but that we saw Jensen’s own affinity for Misha bleed through in their incredible chemsitry together or if Jensen has just been in denial of this ‘ship having teeth for his own personal reasons. I don’t know and so far, he hasn’t been willing to talk about that. Maybe he will once it’s over. Maybe he won’t and I’m not going to be angry with him for it. He’s an incredible actor and he’s lived this character for 15 years, so he has a right to who he believed Dean is and isn’t.

The issues of representation continue to be pressing and what I see happening with Destiel and these other ‘ships is exciting because it shows growth on all sides. We have audiences able to voice not only how they perceive characters without shame but can express a desire for characters to be together. None of that is new for straight characters, but it is for queer characters. We have actors who not only can see these same things, but feel enough ownership of their characters to expresss what they believe their characters would do or feel. And we have showrunners who are going to make their story, sometimes in response to feedback from their fans and actors, and sometimes in spite of it.

What Destiel becoming canon gives me hope for is that as new shows come into being, characters that take off, actors who have unexpected chemistry, and ‘ships that gain a life of their own, will lead to shows that are less inclined to care if those ships are queer or not and just go with what fans respond to. That it will normalize that people can (and do) come out an all different times of life, even after being het-married, having kids, or presenting as straight to everyone else for 40 years. That it will reflect that sometimes, it’s not about having been queer or straight from the beginning, but be about that ONE relationship that just is different, special, or grows into a deep love regardless of the genders of the people. I hope we can get to a place where deep intimacy between same-gender characters doesn’t have to be a war over romance vs. platonic and the story can just develop without the pressure of representation because queer characters will be so prevalent that we don’t have to feel like we must cling so tightly to every one we get. I hope we can come to a place where sometimes relationships don’t go romantic because one person (regardless of gender) just doesn’t feel that way, because that is very fucking true in real life. I want to watch shows where the sexual identity of any character doesn’t have to be etched in stone from the word go, never to change ever because that’s boring and limiting, and honestly, not real life.

I am deeply grateful for actors like Isaac, Caan, and Collins who are willing to see characters outside the heteronormative lens and to advocate for queer romantic arcs. I’m thankful to showrunners who are making shows with greater queer representation than ever before. And I’m grateful to actors like Ackles, who while it wasn’t who he thought his character was, was able to expand his view enough to go where the story was going to go. The arc of the universe does bend towards justice, and we will get there. Until then, there’s fic. And thank God for that.

“I’m never gonna leave Dean. He’s a part of me. I may back away from the flannels for a while, but they’ll always hold a special place in my heart.”

He laughed and Y/N tried not to visibly shiver. She’d been around just about every celebrity there was over the last five years, but there was just something about Mr. Ackles.

“Oh no,” she joked, “don’t give up the flannel! You look amazing in plaid.” She winked, confident that the camera couldn’t see it, and she could have sworn Jensen blushed.

“Thank you.” The apples of his cheeks were bright pink and he covered his smile shyly with his hand, curling his middle finger towards his lips. “It’ll be an adjustment, but I’m looking forward to new adventures.”

“Speaking of…” She shifted in her chair and crossed her legs, purposely forgetting to adjust the hem of her pencil skirt as it rose up her thighs. “Any new projects lined up?”

SPN Season 15 Spoiler Sheet, update 8/31

Waited until that second trailer came out to post. I am LIVING with all this new content! Mind the disclaimer and check it out under the cut.

DISCLAIMER: This is gathered info from various sources. This is not confirmed information. Stuff in this WILL be wrong. Don’t take this too seriously. This is for fun. Also, if you use this info for another publication, please let me know as a courtesy. Don’t be a dick. It's all out there, but it hurts to see my same phrasing on other publications after all the work I’ve done to consolidate it…

General Info (oldest to newest). This is a blend of pre-COVID and post COVID, so some might change.

They are adding a whole extra day to filming to do the final scene. They will film the final scene last. (Implies logistics- lots of returning people?) PRE COVID SPOILER

In an interview, Kripe indicated that the series ending would have “peace” for Sam and Dean

Not much new at the TCA’s, but it was said it is “unlikely” Jeffery Dean Morgan will be back since his last appearance was such a good end note. There were some jokes about a Castiel spin off.

There will be a special tribute ep (Post COVID talk seems to indicate this will stil happen)

Misha will be in 15 out of 20 episodes this season (he’s missed 3 so far and I suspect will miss 14 and 16, unclear about 19).

Cas’ deal with the Empty may come up later in the season.

Jack will be a critical part of the ending of the show

Dean and Amara’s connection will be explored

There will be a bunker themed episode (MarySue article)

In one of his cookbook interviews, Misha used the word “we” several times when talking about the final scene of Supernatural. He said that would be the last scene they shoot. It seemed to imply that he was in the scene, but that could be open to interpretation.

JaxCon/Vegas Con spoilers:

Misha said the ending was “happier than he expected” but also had some sadness. He later used “sad and redemptive”

Misha mentioned that Claire will be mentioned on the show, but as of yet not appear.

Dean says the line “stop killing my people” (to god?)

Jensen said he doesn’t see how the story could continue past this season, but Jared said its more of “a see you later”

Misha confirmed he’s in the final scene, but he also indicated he had one week of filming left (total?) PRE COVID SPOILER

Filming will resume on Aug 18th. Per Canadian policy, they must quarantine for two weeks. Those quarantining seems to include:

Fairly Clear: Jared, Jensen, Jake Abel (Micheal), Rob Benedict (Chuck/God) Mark Pelligrino (Lucifer), Al Cal (didn't need to quarantine, but he is definitely on set)

Unclear/Rumored: Misha (he is being deliberately cagey), Osric Chau (Kevin- but likely for another project, he was a week ahead of everyone else) Jim Beaver (Bobby) flew to Vancouver on 8/26, so he could make it for the last couple days of filming with a quarantine

No idea: Shoshannah Stern and Ruth

Reasons Unlikely: Sam Smith (chemo treatment), Kim Rhodes (working at a camp during quarantine)

Jensen said sp 19 is more of a season finale, while 20 is a series finale. Repeated in interviews/livestreams.

Megan Fitz. complimented both Dabb’s and Glynn’s writing on twitter. Not sure if it is in reference to rewrites or the special retrospective that is planned.

Jensen indicated that the ending did change per COVID protocols. Unclear how much.

Misha is being very, very cagey about where he is. Some live streams seem to indicate he is not at home, but he has yet to confirm- his presence in 19/20 is hard to track. In an interview with Metaverse, he was in bed in a hotel looking space and you could see mountains in the background. He was not on set for the first week of filming, so he could be a week behind.

Misha has thrown around the words “final” and “what he <Misha> would have wanted” per Cas’ ending. “Sad/Proud” and “poignant” were also used.

The final episodes will premier October 8th. The finale will air Nov 19th in conjunction with an hour long special.

It’s getting harder to breathe when you must watch Jensen run after you only to find you on your knees, panting like he did when he got the call. “Y/N? Terminator. Shit, sweetheart…” Kneeling Jensen grasps for your hand, tries anything to help you breathe right.

“Do you know about whom she was talking about? I mean, she’s usually tough and self-confident but those two words let her lash out.” Jensen watches you down a drink in one go. “Jesus, she can drink…”

“I got no clue, Jay. Honestly, everything, before she trained me to become a bodyguard, is top secret. I know she worked for the government, took over dangerous missions but Y/N never talked about anything according to her former job.” Clif rubs his neck nervously, not liking the way you act.

“I am fine, Clif. Stop staring.” Turning around you are your usual grounded self. “We need to change the plan, I guess. He’s not after you Jensen.”

“I don’t get it, Y/N. Why should someone from your past attack me? We didn’t even know each other until Clif…oh-I get it.” Jensen groans.

“Exactly, sweetheart.” Smirking your pat Jensen’s cheek. “You’re not just a pretty face, smart too. The man, he’s after me.”

“Okay, this is some serious shit and I need a drink,” Jared exclaims before he walks toward the bottle of Jack. “I can’t listen to more horror stories while being sober.”

“I can’t tell you anything, Jared. Clif, I want you to drive him home. We’ve got to keep Jared and his family out of this shit.”

Offended Jared looks at you. “Listen, it’s not that I do not trust you, but if I tell you more about this man, you’ll be in danger. Go home, forget about what happened today and kiss your wife…”

“Will you tell me about the guy?” Finally, alone you lock the door, taking a deep breath. “Y/N, I have the right to know who tries to kill me. Don’t tell me crap like it’s top secret.”

“This can never leave this house, Jensen. If you ever tell anyone about my former job, I have to kill you and the person you talked to.” Your features harden when you face Jensen. “This is not a joke. I am dead serious about this.”

“I swear to all that’s holy, even on my mother’s life if I have to.” Pouring Jensen, a drink you take another deep breath before you hand him the glass.

“Good.” Falling onto the couch you place your gun next to you, a smirk on your lips. “I don’t drink and shoot, sweetheart. You can drink, I’ll guard your ass.”

“Now you are the one hiding behind jokes. I am listening if you are ready to talk about it or rather him.” Jensen gives you a soft smile and you return it before you close your eyes.

“It was a job like any other back then. We got a mission, we made our way through the enemies, always the target in sight but then…” Your eyes open and you give Jensen a cracked smile. “Everything went downhill faster than I could blink.”

Jensen remains silent, only sipping at his drink he watches you get up to nervously pace around the room.

“I have to tell you about the man who’s after you first. The way he killed the poor girl, that’s his style. Fast. Efficient. No pain.” Jensen shudders at your words but he doesn’t dare to say anything.

“But…” Clearing your throat you stop in your tracks to face Jensen again. “What he did to you, that’s his specialty. He likes to play with his targets. If we had the mission to let a death look like a suicide, they would send him as…”

“The people killed themselves after he made their lives living hell?” Nodding you give Jensen a cracked smile. “Got it…”

“Sometimes, we had to take a target out fast, silent, and precise but…” Rubbing your forehead you sigh. “When we got the orders to let the person look like he or she was crazy or out of control, he, the shadow, would take over.”

“The shadow? Stupid name,” Jensen grumbles. “I like Terminator more, or guardian angel.” Again, you smile at Jensen, but it fades when you step closer to sit on the couch again.

“Anyways. He was hard, fast, and deadly. Something I liked back then so we kinda…”

“Fucked?” Snickering you nod at Jensen. “Lucky bastard…”

“It wasn't love or even friends with benefits. We let out steam and that was that. There was no connection or any feelings on both ends.” Clarifying your relationship with ‘the shadow’ you rub your hand over your thighs.

“Fast forward. We had a few missions together, teamed up and I must admit, we were a perfect team. I trusted him with my life, that was a mistake, an almost deadly one.”

Getting back up you turn around to lift your shirt. “You remember the scar, the story of the little girl?”

“Yeah…” Choking the words out Jensen glances at your back. “Sorry for not believing you back then- I was stubborn and stupid.”

“It’s fine, Jensen. Let me tell you more to understand why I did what I did to him.” Jensen watches you struggle before you talk again. “We had the order to find the girl, bring her to the headquarter to...well force her father to…I don’t know what they wanted from him.”

“You saved her…right?” Nodding you grasps for the gun to have anything to hold onto. “What happened?”

“The order changed in the middle of the mission. Our boss decided it’s not worth to risk two agents to save a child in a land no one cares about. I…I refused to terminate the mission. We were so close.” You place the gun onto the table to take a swig from Jensen’s glass.

“I assume your partner was not amused?” Jensen huffs when you shake your head. “Asshole then…”

“Exactly my words. I told him to fuck off if he doesn’t want to help me. There were only three kidnappers, so I could’ve easily sneaked in, take them down, and free the girl.” Your hands shake when you close your eyes.

“He left and…” Shuddering you meet Jensen’s eyes. “All hell broke loose. They were waiting for me as my partner sold me to those bastards. It was him - the scar.

The order didn’t change to leaving the girl behind, the new order was to kill the girl, take a picture and leave. He knew about my rules. No collateral damage, no children.”

“That bastard.” Teeth gritted Jensen jumps up to throw the bottle of Jack against the wall. “He would’ve killed a little girl to accomplish his fucking mission?”

“I told you we did things I am not proud of but, I have rules. I never crossed that line.” Jensen nods, glancing at the shards on the floor.

“He wanted to make it look like the kidnapper tortured me for information, kill the girl and…dunno. When he believed I was unconscious he left the room and the girl, that poor soul was so frightened, but she grasped the knife and cut the ropes holding me open.”

“Smart girl, brave too…”

“I was weak but somehow I got up on my feet, grabbed the guns they took from me and my bag. I lead the girl outside, into the jungle and we survived…” Your voice cracks when you recall that night in the jungle.

“The girl helped me as good as she could. Cleaned my wound and pressed a band-aid to it. We found our way to her father and he hid me.”

“What happened to the kidnappers?” Your eyes narrow and a dark grin appears on your lips. “Y/N?”

“The shadow took care of them for letting the girl and me escape. I assume he believed that I didn’t make it. The blood in the jungle, the clothes we left at the river. Perfect deception…” Jensen nods, swallowing thickly when you slide your fingers over your gun.

“I called the agency, told them what he did and they, well let’s say I was out, he was still in. After that I hid in the shadows to find him. It took me months but, I succeed.

What I don’t understand is, that I killed him, Jensen. I was there, in his hotel room and took care of him the way he did with me. I checked his pulse, he was dead.” Grasping for his drink Jensen downs it in one go.
