Summary: R/n is the Real name of an actress playing Y/n in my Cas x reader Book. I went to the SPN Con in SF this past weekend and let's just say the best weekend of my life so far. But I miss the environment so I am writing this hope you guys enjoy it.

WELCOME TO THE STAGE R/N L/n 

I ran out to see about a thousand fans screaming at me. I dont think I'll ever not be a little intimidated by it.

I grab the microphone. “Hey Everyone we having a good time?” “YEAH” “Good Good did anyone see Jared and Jensen’s and I’s Panel?” Lots of Yes’s. “Great, that's great now we can finally get to the real star.” I point at myself. Laughter through the crowd. “Okay let's start the questions.”

A fan comes up 

“Hi R/n I was just wondering how you got casted? and real quick I love you.” she nervously said. 

“Well I love you too thank you, and how I got casted * I sit down at the spinning chair* Well it’s actually pretty interesting. I was freshly eighteen and up to that point I had very few roles so I thought no one would know who I was and…  I was right* the crowd laughed* I laughed at myself. “Sorry, I'll actually answer your question I was on a little show called Monk *Lots of Whoops from the audience.” Right, I know an amazing show so Eric saw me on there and requested an audition from me, and uh here we are, Thank you.”

I look over to the other side. “Hi, so I was wondering between the three guys who’s your best friend?” Ohhhs from the audience. “Uh ha, I laugh again um they're not in here right?” laughing “No I'm just kidding, that's a really hard, best friend. Let's see I am going to answer like this so Jen and Jar are my brothers and Misha is my best friend does that make sense because who really is friends with your siblings ``I am’s from the audience. “Well good for you… can't relate.” “Uh because they were my supernatural brothers so they became my real-life brothers and with Misha he just came on and made me feel instantly comfortable and we would have lots of lunches together and the more we talked the more I thought Holy shit did I find my soulmate and I mean like the best friend soulmate. So yeah did that answer your question?” “Yes, it did, thank you I love you.” “Aww, I love you too.” 

It was a little girl with a mom. “Hey there are you asking the question or that princess?” I finish with a smile and lots of Awws from the audience. “You want to say grace?” She buries her head in her mom's shoulder. “That's okay Grace I do the same to Jared then he usually pushes me off * I can't even finish before chuckling the same with the audience. “I'm sorry any time I can dirty my family's name I will *more laughter* Um back to the point, what's your question? The mom answers. “What was it like to be a young woman trying to be in the acting industry, especially in the early two thousand.” I pause to think about it. “That's a very interesting question um do guys want the Hollywood truth or real.” All reals from the audience.

“Ok you might want to pull out your phones this is going to be a little while I was fifteen at the time and I  had not been on any shows I was at this audition and after mine, this was the casting person who came up to me and said I was awful, Ugly, untalented that my audition was horrible and that I wasn't going anywhere in the future and I went go home and cried in my grandma's arms and I told her I was done with everything I couldn't do it again and she told me, Honey, if you Quit then that person wins because everything opposite of what she said is true and I didn't and thankfully my next audition was Monk which I landed and in that I got Supernatural so please to everyone don't ever let anyone tell you're not worth it because you are, so to answer it is very hard but if you keep going because you want to you will achieve thank you. 

It was a woman who was pregnant. “Hi R/n can I ask you a personal question?” “of course” “Who was the first person that you told when you first found out you were pregnant with MM because for me it was my best friend.” “Can I ask how far along you are?” “eight months” “Congratulations!, and the answer is kind of funny because it was the same, it was Misha. He was with me when I did the test because I was so scared and he just hugged me when I saw it was positive. That's part of the reason why she's named after him. Thank you.”

I checked the time and we had time for about three more questions. A guy comes up. “Hi” “Hi there my name is Brian and my question is what was the hardest thing for you to film during supernatural.” “Mhhh hardest let's see it was properly when I was pregnant with MM and it started to get really hard to do stunts ha when I was about five months in I bent over to pick up something and that was when I knew that was it *laugh at myself* So properly then, thank you. 

“So my question is what is your best memory with Jensen and Jared.” “That is really hard after almost twenty years of knowing each other wow I feel old saying that um when we were all still babies in like season one when we would eat together and get to know each other and I got to know them as people and not just you know handsome strangers are some of my best memories with them, thank you.”

“Hi R/n um this isn’t really a question but I have to tell you that you are one of my biggest idols and inspiration in life and C/n means so much to me and a lot of that is because of how amazing you are.” I get up and go to hug her. “Thank you” “No, thank you.” I walk back to the stage and at that time Rob comes out. “Aww are we done already.” “Yeah, sadly how were they for you.” “I think they were freaking amazing!” All cheers from the audience. “Thank you everyone!” The band starts to play and I go to sign next to my posters and then I go behind the black curtain.

Summary: Joseph and you have your second date at the Skygarden in London after what happened the night before…

Part 4

Was that really your first kiss? Your first real date ended with your first kiss like this? The train arrived. You got in and immediately watched out for a seat. It was hard to stand, your legs were shaking. You caught yourself subtly licking over your lips. It tasted different than usual, like a mix of the burrito you had and the drink you ordered a few hours ago, except the fact that you weren´t the one who drank that drink. What did that kiss mean? He wanted to see you again. Tomorrow. Thursday, he said he would be busy on Thursday, now he wanted to see you again. The day after he kissed you. And just left. What the hell was going on. Your head felt kind of dizzy. A headache started to creep in. It was full with so many different thoughts, that you almost missed your station. When you got home all you were able to do was getting in your pj´s, remove your makeup and brush your teeth. The moment your head hit the pillow you fell asleep.

The next morning you woke up, got ready and went to work. Jen was already there and welcomed you in the room of your kids group with wide eyes. “OH MY GOD! Tell me everything about yesterday!!” You were totally confused and suddenly remembered what happened yesterday. “Oh Jen. I don´t know what is going on.” Jen chuckled: “What?” “It was amazing. I´ll see him again tonight”, you did not seem really content. That´s why Jen asked you: “So what is wrong, you don´t seem happy about it.” “I´m just confused…” There were no kids in the room yet, so you both took a seat on the sofa. “Okay, tell me more, y/n.” You took a deep breath: “We met at the hippodrome. He was late but he already apologized before over text message. It was a technical issue, with the train rails. We decided to go to seven dials market, the whole way he had my hand in his hand.” Jen gasped and grabbed your hand. “He did NOT! He´s touchy, uuuuuuh.” You both laughed. “Well, he is, always touching a hand, or my arm or my back when walking.” “Love that.” was Jens reaction. She started to focus again and looked at you with a lot of expectation. You continued: “We ate at seven dials market, we talked a lot. Then we…” Jen interrupted you: “What did you talk about?” “Everything!” Right now, you were just reliving everything before the confusing kiss. It was not like you didn´t like your date with him, it was your first freaking kiss, you weren´t even able to enjoy it, because you were too surprised. “We really talked about everything. Work, what kind of food we like, what we like to do in our free time, about his education, about my life in Germany…just everything.” “What is he doing for a living?”, Jen asked. “Ehm, he´s an actor.” “Really, what kind of acting?” You tried to keep this short: “BBC, theatre, Netflix. Then we-“ Jen was too curious about the acting thing: “What´s his name?” “Joseph Quinn.” Again, she gasped, this time she grabbed you by your shoulder: “No FUCKING way, y/n! You had a date with Joseph chocolate button eyes Quinn?!?” You giggled in confusion: “How do you know about the chocolate button eyes?” “He said that at a convention some years ago! I can´t believe you really went on a date with Joseph Quinn!!” she squeaked a little. “Well, he told me that his mother used to call him like that.” “Yes, I know, that’s what he said at the con, it was a video on tiktok! Oh my god, Joseph Quinn. He´s really a touchy guy” “Alright, this feels kind of weird now.”, you said to Jen: “What do you mean?” “Oh, there are a lot of videos on the internet, where he´s holding hands with fans, or rubbing their backs and everything.” Wow, that hit you like a car. Now it didn´t feel really special to you, the way he walked with you hand in hand, the sneaky little touches you got, when you sat for dinner. Your heart felt heavy, in a bad way. “Go on.” Jen interrupted your thoughts. “That´s it. I had to leave because of work, and we´ll meet tonight.” You didn´t know why, but you did not want to share the kiss with Jen. “Sounds promising!” Jen smiled at you, you tried to smile back. The first kid arrived so you had to get to work.

Shortly before lunch break, you actually considered to cancel your date with Joe tonight. You were overwhelmed and felt kind of sad about the things Jen told you. You took a seat at the resting room and got your phone out of your handbag, pretty sure to cancel right now. Maybe you could tell him you feel sick or whatever. Your heart skipped a beat, when you saw that you had got two messages from Joe. The first one was: “hi love, how are you?” The thing about the pet names was so British. Also, the second message had a pet name in it. “Love, can we change location tonight? 6 pm at Monument station?” Your heart felt lighter again. He really wanted to meet you. He seemed to put a lot of effort in it. Your previous thoughts flew away and all you could do was to reply: “I´m great, see you later at Monument station”.

At home after work you had to change for the evening. This time you wanted to dress up without Jens help. You chose a mid-length beige dress and some heels, Monument station was basically in the financial district of London, so it definitely would be something more chic tonight than fast food at seven dials market. At 5:30 you left for the date, at 5:55 you left the circle line at Monument station. Outside you briskly spotted Joe, he wore a pinstriped shirt and brown trousers. He looked so handsome. You were nervous about the first time seeing him today, the last time you saw him yesterday, he walked around a corner after he kissed you surprisingly. What would he do now? Hug you, kiss you again? You did not know a lot about dating, you weren´t experienced at all. Once Joe recognized you, he started to smile from ear to ear. Either he was a brilliant actor or he was really, really excited to see you. He came in your direction and hugged you. Hi love”, he did whisper in your ear, while tightening the hug a little bit. Then he looked at you: “Wow, you look gorgeous again!” You immediately felt the heat in your face, you did not wear a lot of make up today, because of the lack of time (you got home from work a little later than usual), he was able to see you blushing for sure. “Thank you, I like your shirt.” That was everything you got out of your mouth. “Thanks love.” Even though it was a normal British thing, the pet names made you feel things. “Should we go?”, Joe asked. “Yes, where do we go?” you asked curiously. “That’s a surprise!” he mysteriously moved his hands, right before he grabbed your left hand and walked with you. The financial district was one of the places you did not spend a lot of time. But every time you were here, you enjoyed it. Joe walked you down Eastcheap and turned left for Philpot. 20 Fenchurch Street, also known as the walkie-talkie was right in front of you. Joe went up the stairs, and led you in there. “Wait, we´ll eat at sky garden?” you asked. Joe nodded and saw that you were genuinely excited about that.

You both got in to the lift and went up to the highest floor. You never were at sky garden before, but it was definitely on your things to do in London list. In the lift it was only you and Joe. He turned to you and started to speak: “I´m sorry about yesterday. The kiss. I just left you like a fucking coward.” “Oh.” You did not know what else to say. “I´m sorry, if it was too early for you, I´m sorry that I left you there.” He was really sorry, you could feel it. To reassure him you took his hand and slightly squeezed it. “It´s okay.” You did not know if it was really okay for you, but you did not want him to feel bad about it. And then you felt the inner urge to say something really flirty: “Maybe you can make up for that.” You were surprised by yourself. He smirked a little and you left the lift. A waiter accompanied you to your table. Sky Garden looked amazing, all the plants and flowers looked stunning. You studied the menu the waiter had given you and decided to get the stuffed gnocchi. The prizes were way out of your normal budget, but you worry about that later. Joe looked up from the cocktail menu: “Do you mind if I get something alcoholic?” “No, of course not.” “Well, it´s not obvious. You never know what the opposite person may go through, so I always check, if it´s okay.”, he responded. “That´s really thoughtful.”, your heart melted. “You take a cocktail too? I think I get the Mile end.” “Oh, I just decided what to get to eat, did not even look at the cocktail menu yet.” Joe chuckled: “Priorities well set!” “Yes!”, you joined him chuckling. After a few minutes of considering which cocktail to get, you finally chose the Lancaster Gate. Joe already waited for a moment, when you looked up from the menu, he called the waiter. He ordered the rosemary sourdough as a starter and for the main course the British wagyu beef rump. You didn´t have to wait long for your drinks. Joe wanted to toast with you: “Cheers to the French house, such an inviting place in London that luckily you went in when I was there.” You blushed again: “Cheers.” Your food arrived also very quickly. It was probably the best thing you´ve ever ate. Joe enjoyed his beef rump pretty obviously. When he took the first bite, he closed his eyes and moaned softly with his full mouth. “How are your gnocchis?”, he curiously asked and glanced at them. “You wanna try?” “If you don´t mind.” You poked one of the gnocchi pieces with your fork and hold it in front of his mouth. He wrapped his lips around the fork and ate the piece. That was kind of hot.

After the main course Joe ordered a dessert and invited you to share it with him. You could definitely tell he was a foodie. Just like yesterday, you talked about a lot of different topics, there wasn´t one moment when you both had nothing to talk about and just said nothing to each other. The so-called “Fenchurch chocolate bar” stood between you two, you weren´t able to eat a lot more, but Joe polished off the rest of the dessert. “I am really sorry about the kiss.”, Joe said all of a sudden. He looked at you with his brown eyes. “It´s okay.”, you tried to reassure him again. “No, it´s not. I can´t believe I just walked away.” “Well, I was pretty overwhelmed in that moment. I did not know what to do anyway.”, you chuckled a little, but more fake than real. At once the whole situation got uncomfortable. You wished you could tell him about you state of virginity on almost every level, but how would you get this topic into the conversation? Especially with a grown up 30-year-old man, who probably had sex for over ten years now, and even “had it” on screen. While you had your first kiss yesterday, he might have had his first one 15 years ago. He repeated himself: “I´m sorry.” Joe definitely could tell that you weren´t sure if it was really okay. You nervously laughed and didn´t know why, but you blurted out: “Haha, you were my first kiss!” You were shocked, that was probably the epitome of cringe. Joe looked at you with a shock in his face. But you could not tell if it was the fact or the way you just had told him. “Wow, I ruined your first kiss.” There was no judgement in his voice, he sounded just really worried. “Nooo, you did not ruin it, you just…surprised me!” “I just left you there, at an underground station.” “Well, yes you did, but I really wanted to kiss you.” You took his hand, which laid on the table. “Did you want to kiss me?”, you carefully asked. “I wanted it so bad!”, he grunted. Your heart skipped a beat, you felt a huge warmness building up in your stomach. “Why did you leave then?” “I don’t know… I was so nervous…You make me so nervous… I don´t know what is going on actually.” You chuckled a bit in relief: “Same.” Joe glanced at you and his eyes started to sparkle. His other hand got up on the table and took both of yours in his hands. You both smiled at each other. “I can´t believe that I have the honour to be someones first kiss and then I screw up like this.” “I told you earlier: Maybe you can make it up at some point.” Joe smirked.

You finished the dinner at sky garden, Joe paid the whole ridiculous amount of money and left the restaurant hand in hand. In the lift Joe asked you: “You wanna come with me?” “Where?” you asked him. “To my home. It is not even 8:30. I don´t want to leave you already. I can make great martinis by the way.” “Oh, you are an actor and a bartender as well?”, you said to him in a flirty way. “So you join me?” “Yes.” You looked him deep in the eyes. And then you kissed him. His lips felt warm, your hands immediately moved up to his head and got caught in his curls. Joe pulled you closer, his hands were around your waist. They started to rub up and down there. You deepened the kiss a little more, you opened your mouth slightly, so Joe could have more access with his tongue. You did not know what you were doing, but everything just felt so natural. Joe chuckled a little bit, the moment your lips got separated. “I think we have to get off the lift.”

pasta i’m so excited that you love baldur’s gate 3 and mass effect!! who are your favorites in mass effect?

I do! I adore it, it's got all the qualities I loved in my favorite Bioware games but also feels frikkin HUGE, fortunately in a good way and not in a I SWEAR TO BABY REAPERS/DREAD WOLF IF I SEE THIS ROCK ONE MORE TIME sort of way. I haven't gotten to play as much as I usually would obviously - I'm still in Act 1, poking my nose in every single cave and hole I find - but I'm definitely loving it, and am thoroughly invested in all my little ducklings and their backstories!

Oh God though, Mass Effect. Mass Effect, my darling, the space, the aliens, the story, the crew, the Normandy I shed tears for, THE FUCKING SPACE SQUID VILLAINS. I love that series with my whole heart so far I have met Kaidan's VA and Jen Hale, I NEED MORE. I've done little cons for it, had the Paragon logo on my car for AGES. This (and Dragon Age) was My Fandom for a long, long time, which is one reason I like BG3 so much! It scratches the exact same itch.

If I had to choose from Mass Effect - like I generally love 95% of them if I'm honest buuuuuuut IT'S COMMANDER FEMSHEP SHE IS MY FAVORITE PROTAGONIST ON THE CITADEL oh wait this is about companions, my number one is definitely my Space Raptor Beloved, Garrus Vakarian. This fucking dork ('your waist is very... supportive' SIR) and his calibrations, this tortured dinosaur of an alien, his Batman renegade phase in ME2. I ADORE HIM. He's the reason I got back into fanfiction in *checks old AO3 account* 2015, when I wrote a Shakarian one-shot for a friend on a whim. It's still on AO3 too and I like to read it sometimes and REMEMBER THE FEELING OF LOVE FOR HIM.

“It’s just one weekend, Henry. One weekend. We have to at least pretend to be married.”

He sighs, reclining on the large lounger on the back deck, rolling an unlit cigarette between his thumb and forefinger. “Y/N...you know that I can’t come with you. I’ve got a show this weekend; I can’t just skip my own show to be your plus-one at a wedding.”

It feels like you’re the only one actually trying to appear as a couple, since your union is a sham. You made the grave mistake of visiting the McHenry residence on the night of Ann’s murder, finding a blood-spattered and disheveled Henry with his hand on the butchers knife impaling her chest.

And then, a few weeks later, your friendship became a marriage. You knew Henry was a good guy, and you’ve been friends with him a very long time, so...you helped him out by becoming the second Mrs. McHenry in order to protect him in case of a criminal trial. Spousal privilege is a powerful weapon in the judicial system, one that Henry successfully secured. 

Almost a year has passed since that fateful night, and the police investigation has all but stopped due to lack of evidence. The only living people who know what happened are you and him.

The worst part of it, though? You’ve fallen for him, hard. Sure, he’s been your friend since high school, but you never thought of him as partner material before. But, now that you live with him and spend lots of time together, you realize that he’s an amazing guy that you really feel connected to.

Unfortunately, he’s not in love with you, and probably never will be. But, you soldier on, putting your feelings on the backburner for the sake of the false union.

Henry sticks the cigarette between his teeth, the familiar flick of the lighter slicing the tension between you. He takes a long drag, exhaling loudly.

“Fine. But at least I’m actually trying to make this whole arrangement seem real. At this point, I’m the only one trying at all.” You huff, shaking your head as you walk back into the house.

You arrive at the large rented house for the bridal party, greeted by several of your closest friends as you walk through the door. Immediately, they ask about Henry, and you tell them that he won’t be joining you this weekend, that he has a show that he just can’t miss.

They’re understanding, of course, knowing of Henry’s blossoming career as a comedian. You spend the rest of the afternoon catching up with your friends, who seemed to be acting a bit strangely. They’re looking towards the lobby religiously, seemingly waiting for someone to arrive.

Probably just one of their boyfriends or husbands, you think, dismissing it with little thought as the waiter comes over with a tray of cocktails.

It’s nearly midnight when you finally head back up to your room, eyelids heavy as you fumble with the key and open the door. You’re startled when you see a large shadowy figure sitting on the queen bed. 

You quickly flip the lights on to reveal the mysterious figure’s identity.

“Henry? What are you doing here?”

He stands, grabbing a small bouquet of flowers before bringing them over to you.

“I’m sorry for being so unreasonable about this trip, Y/N. You’re right, I haven’t been trying as hard as I can to spend ‘couple’ time with you lately. And I know how important this trip is, so...I postponed my show to next weekend in order to be here with you.”

You’re unable to stop the grin that spreads across your face at this genuinely kind gesture that he’s done for you. You take the flowers from his outstretched hand.

“Wow, this is...thank you, Henry.” You meet his eyes. “I mean it, thank you. I’m, uh, I’m glad you’re here.”

His cheeks are dusted pink as he looks down at the carpeted floor, running a hand through his hair.  “It’ll be nice to spend some time together, I think. We’ve been a bit disconnected lately, off doing our own stuff without really connecting all that often.”

You nod in agreement, filling one of the hotel glasses with lukewarm water for the flowers. You set them on the desk, then look over at the bed. 

Bed, not beds. 

“I...I can ask for a different room. She just put us in here because she knows we’re married...”

He shakes his head. “No, no, it’s alright. We’ll make do.”

You’re a bit surprised by his mellow, chilled reaction to the situation. You thought surely he’d want to change rooms, since the two of you have never shared a bed before. 

Really, at home, you’re just roommates; each having your own separate living spaces. But of course, your friend Jen doesn’t know of the...unique aspects of your outwardly loving union, like the fact that it’s not genuine.

Both of you quietly unpack your things into the shared dresser. You keep your pajamas out and after you place your emptied duffle in the closet, you shed your top and bottoms, leaving you in just your undergarments. 

When you turn around to grab your pajamas, you catch Henry looking at you, a fact that brings a sheepish warmth to your cheeks. He was shirtless, standing in only his black jeans, which has you quite flustered. Henry’s very much in shape, you’re painfully aware of that in the moment, and you can’t help but let your gaze fall to his chiseled abdomen.

His eyes quickly dart away from you, as yours do from him, and his cheeks turn pink. He continues folding his clothes, putting them in the top two drawers of the dresser. You bite your lip as you grab your pajamas and head into the bathroom, locking the door behind you.

The mirror blurs with steam from the hot water as it emerges from the shower head. You’re quick to peel the panties from your hips and the bra from your chest, tossing both on the tiled floor before stepping under the steaming stream.

I get what you mean and as much as I believe Danneel brought him out of his shell, I don't think Jensen was ever in any shell, it was a perfectly curated image for his career. Marc: Hello, Marc Roskin, producer and director of this episode.

Amy: Hi, Amy Berg, supervising producer and co-writer of this episode.

John: John Rogers, executive producer.

Chris: Chris Downy, executive producer, and co-writer of the Future Job.

John: Uh, this, did this start out of the haunting episode? Is this how the psychic came about?

Amy: The origin of this? No, the um, no I don't think so. Psychic Job was—

John: Was that Dean's?

Amy: No, it was literally a card that was on my board at the beginning of the season, along with Three Days of the Hunter, and Two Live Crew Job, so this was essentially plucked from the well.

John: This was one of the ones that sat there, that sat there for a long time, she was great, what, uh...

Marc: Jen Taylor, local Seattle actress. She was wonderful.

John: But it was Dean who really dug in on this one, because he really liked the bad guy. He really said, you know, ‘I really wanna hammer the fake psychics.’

Amy: Yeah, and he was the one who, sort of, had the vision of, sort of, making this a Parker episode and, sort of, getting to delve deeper into her backstory a little bit.

Chris: And there's Luke Perry.

John: Luke Perry was fantastic.

Amy: He was great.

John: How did we wind up casting Luke Perry?

Chris: I think it was suggested by our casting folks, and I think it was the first one on his list, and he said, Luke Perry would be fantastic for this role. And we all, we were kind of like wow. You know, you didn't really think of him as- as an evil psychic.

Marc: I would leave my wife for Luke Perry. 

[All Laugh]

John: Luke Perry—uh, as a director, why don't you talk about working with Luke Perry, Marc?

Marc: He was wonderful. I mean, you can just really, when someone has that much experience working in television, I mean, it's amazing. He was on time, he never left set, he was always talking about character and would take any suggestions, you know, from me as a director, if you wanted to go another way, just let me know; he was just a dream to work with.

John: Now, what was the idea on this particular setting for the psychic, instead of like a formal office, or like, what was the set dec idea on this?

Marc: Well we wanted to have him working out of, like, a home type office, and actually we had to find something that we could build on the stage to work on.

John: Oh so that wasn't a location, that was-

Marc: No, that was just our basic, uh, hospital and Gina apartment set.

John: [Laughs] The Frankenset.

Marc: Shot on the same day as this day, on the stage, in our bar.

John: Okay, cool. Nice shot through the glass, by the way. I didn't know those taps worked. If I'd known those taps worked I would have been up north a lot more often.

Marc: They work. As soon as you request it, Eric Bates we'll start pumping a keg through them.

John: And this actor playing the brother—

Marc: Uh, Eric Riedman, he was great, too. I mean, he really, really clicked with Tim in this scene. They really worked well together.

John: And it was interesting. We were trying to figure out—we had a great victim, but ordinarily our victim has already had the thing done to them, but in the design of this, you needed the victim to sort of be in suspension.

Amy: Yeah, we needed a proxy. And uh, the brother was sort of a great emotional investment tool for us.

John: Yeah. And Portland actor, just a really, really great job. That was a good, 'I hate that guy moment', when we made her pregnant. And uh—

Chris: And taking her house.

John: Take her house, don't leave money on the table.

Amy: I guess we should point out that, uh, I named a lot of these characters - with the exception of Dalton Rand, Luke Perry's character - after the assistants on our show.

John: Oh, this one is the one where we used all the—

Amy: Yeah, it's Wilson, it's Nicholas, and Ryan, and—

Chris: I love that logo there, by the way, that went by.

John: Oh yeah, who designed that? The great Dalton Rand logo?

Chris: Oh they did a great job.

John: It was actually designed by Derek, right? Our computer graphics guy?

Marc: Yeah, Derek Frederickson in Chicago.

John: He banged it up for us. And it is amazing, this is another one where you could assume we are doing one or the other of any of the very sundry famous psychics, but really they all use the same cons.

Amy: Yeah, they really do.

John: And I’ll also say, Derren Brown was a big influence on this episode.

Amy: Yeah, I think you and I are maybe a little too obsessed with Derren Brown, and uh—

John: He is dreamy.

Amy: He's dreamy and he's sort of an—

John: And a powerful, commanding presence.

Amy: And he's an expert in NLP, which a lot of the stuff we talk about in this episode is, and he debunks a lot of psychics and mediums and things of that sort.

John: That's a really interesting way, too, by doing shows that make it look like he has those abilities.

Amy: And Apollo Robbins, our consultant, was helpful in, sort of, submitting some great terminology for us to use throughout.

John: Oh yeah, that's right, the cold reading terminology, yeah. Um, now this, where was this set?

Marc: This was an actual cable access station that they, again, just opened the doors for us. We didn't have to change any of the logos or the numbers, the people working the camera are the actual camera crew—

Chris: Wow, that's great.

Marc: —of this station, they were wonderful.

Amy: They absorbed us into their own productions.

Chris: Just like Three Days of the Hunter, this is another example of Portland opening its doors to us.

Marc: So all those monitors, they had up and running and feeding through our system as well, it was great.

John: Now did you take a look at any of the extant shows, in order to, sort of, see how this works?

Marc: Uh, I did, and a lot of it at first was just to see the set. And everybody—once you start looking at their sets—were like 'oh, maybe ours is a little too pretty.' [All Laugh] Some of them were just like two chairs and an easel, with something leaning against it.

John: 'I'm gonna sketch what your dead mother is saying.'

Marc: And then our construction crew, you know, built the risers, so we can have some depth with the audience. This was a fun scene. It wasn't supposed to be a physical scene, but Eliot and Lathrop turned it into one, so it was kinda fun.

Chris: I love when he gets mad here.

Amy: This was supposed to be a con, and then it turned into something altogether different.

John: He's just really annoyed at that dude up in his face. And you know what's interesting is we- it was a little weird developing this, because all the tricks that a lot of fake psychics use—not the real psychics, of course, with giant lawyers behind them, but the fake psychics use—are actually techniques we use in the cons, and so it was kind of this weirdly recursive thing. It's like, we're kind of exposing to the audience how they do this, but we do it every week.

Amy: Yeah, we're exposing ourselves as much as we're exposing Dalton Rand here.

John: And this is where he goes into cold reading. What was the—and it's interesting, cold reading is a fascinating subject, there's actually a couple great books that Apollo Robbins hunted up, and the idea that just by playing the numbers, just by playing the odds, any one of these guys can hit at about 80 to 85 percent success rate.

Amy: Yeah, it's act- it's basically asking a series of questions, and, sort of, gauging reactions to people without knowing anything about them in advance. Whereas hot reads or warm reads, as they’re sometimes called, are basically doing your homework beforehand, and getting research on the people you're about to meet with and, sort of, using that knowledge to, sort of, manipulate them.

Chris: The hot read is really more what our guy's doing, which is kinda how this thing broke down in the episode, was when we hijack and sort of take it over and hot read.

Amy: Yeah. Well we, the team basically underestimates Dalton here, and he surprises them.

John: They think that once they throw him, they'll get him, and he's able to cold read Parker. Which is also a big thing, not just in anchoring Parker's story into the episode, but the show always works when the nemesis is a bit more formidable.

Amy: Absolutely.

John: And it was kind of important, especially since Luke's kind of a really nice, he's got a nice guy vibe, it was kinda really important to start to hammer in on the fact that this guy is as good as they are. If he knew they were coming, this would be a very different game.

Amy: And I think Tim is great in this scene, because he's playing the audience, he's like, ‘Wait a minute, like, we were supposed to come in and sort of take over this guy, and he's sort of manipulating Parker, and surprising me in turn.’

John: Wow, look at Beth there. She is working.

Chris: Now, how'd you work with her on this when you went into this scene?

Marc: Um, it was interesting, because the scenes we shot first are the scenes later where it was really emotional in the Leverage apartment, where she really broke down, so she was already at that place once, and she just brought it right back, and I think Luke worked really well with her.

John: I also like that beat in the van where Jeri sort of chose, it was a very nice choice, where Aldis has got Hardison really pissed off, and Jeri's just admiring the craft. She's not as emotionally invested in the team, so she can kind of step back and admire this guy's chops.

Marc: And this scene was just such a great scene where all of our actors work so well together in, not only just rehearsing it, but getting Beth to a certain place, you know, where she should be, they were all really emotionally involved in this, and took a lot of time to rehearse—

John: Probably took twice as long as we usually do to shoot this stuff.

Amy: Well yeah, it was the characters being really protective of Parker, and the actors being really protective of Beth, it was really great.

Chris: Well I think it was actually, when it was written, more angry. You know what I mean? And I think seeing the dailies, it was, like, she took it to this incredibly vulnerable place that I don't think it really was on the page.

John: Also big credit to Dean Devlin, because he also had pushed that.

Marc: He did, he did. And this was a great scene, we have all the emotional arc with Beth, but as you guys were just explaining, in the script we explain the hot read and the cold read and we break it all down.

John: Yeah, and this is—again, we are always agonizing over how to explain this stuff, and having someone with a specific emotional response or attitude in the scenes makes a giant difference. And having it be Parker, who the audience is very very fond of, really helps, you know. We're now dumping an enormous amount of exposition on your plate, and you don't care.

Chris: Right, because it's—you know, we're seeing her in this really, just devastated place.

Marc: And we just found out a lot about her past that we didn't know about.

John: And he—I love that look up, just like, ‘Help me out here, I got nothing.’

Chris: Well the thing about it, and we'll talk about it when we get there, but the way she plays the scene at the end, with the brother, really was informed by all this, which was not at all on the page at all.

Marc: Right.

Chris: Like, when she hugs the victim's brother, and we'll get there, it's as if she's hugging her own brother.

John: And also it's interesting, because—oddly, it certainly wasn't intended, but it's just the way TV shows evolve—it helps, sort of, explain her relationship with Eliot and Hardison, you know. That's sort of how she fell into that rhythm, and that sort of proxy family—

Chris: It was not intended.

John: I would like to say, I'd like to say it was a sort of subconscious Alan Moore idea space.

Amy: Speak for yourself Chris, I totally did that on purpose.

John: Like two years ahead, like two years in advance?

Chris: Oh sure. That's what you're supposed to do on these commentaries—

Amy: Yes, many many years.

Chris: —you're supposed to go 'well, you see, I laid these—'

John: 'So this moment, two years earlier—'

Amy: Reason we're awesome, number 427.

John: But here's what's amazing is, we really, we're always like, in the show, could we possibly fool people with this? And then when you do this, this explanation scene, could you possibly fool anyone? They do! This is how they do it! We're not making any of this up.

Amy: No.

John: If anything, we're giving them better tech.

Amy: We're giving them ideas on how to be better at it.

Chris: And by the way, from a technical standpoint, these scenes were very difficult to shoot because we're going from monitors to action—

Amy: To flashbacks.

Chris: —to flashbacks, very hard.

Marc: And they're all green screens on the day we're shooting them.

John: Oh that's right, we didn't have the footage.

Amy: Nothing was on these monitors.

Marc: Nothing is on the monitors.

Amy: All we had was a nice bulletin board.

Marc: Yeah, we had a little bulletin board to show that they had the seating chart. And here, one of my favorite lines is coming up, it's just a great release valve, with all this tension, and, and her emotions—crying.

John: Yeah, you can see her turning, too. There's the sort of old Parker coming back, and the anger kind of building up in her face.

Amy: Yeah it's like, wait a minute...

Marc: And then this line from Eliot. 'Can we kill him?' 

[All Laugh]

Chris: I think that was you.

John: Yeah that was, I think that was me. Quite sure. ‘Yeah, alright [Laughs] absolutely.’ I like, and Chris played it just right too, like...

Chris: Just a shrug.

John: And it's interesting, 'cause, that actually was intentional in the back half of the season this year. We really want to remind people, Eliot Spencer used to kill people. I mean, because it's really easy, because Chris is very charming, and he's very funny... yeah he was not a pleasant human being by any stretch of the imagination. And every now and then, you lose it a little, you know what I mean? You lose track of it, because he's such a nice guy. And who's that?

Marc: That is Lana Veenker, our casting associate there in good old Portland.

Amy: How did that come about? [Laughs]

Marc: You know what? We were just reading people and all of a sudden I'm like, ‘Why don't you read?’ 'No no no, I won't. Okay, gimme thirty seconds.' All of a sudden she read and we were like, 'Done.'

John: Done. We're out.

Chris: Didn't we write some pages where they have a long passionate kiss here? 

[All Laugh]

John: Yes, we did. We did—actually we didn't write them, you know, they were faxed in, and I don't know where they came from.

Chris: Handwritten.

Amy: Yeah I think it was a Portland IP address, somehow.

John: Yeah, it was a little creepy, to tell you the truth. [Amy Laughs] Ah, no. And this, uh—you know, we need a new name for the assistant who's not a Busey.

Chris: Uh... Well, I mean...

John: Because we've had a couple.

Chris: Lackey? It’s kind of a lackey.

Amy: Do people know—have we explained—

John: We've explained the Busey's on both seasons.

Amy: Okay good.

John: Uh, yeah, he's not quite a lackey, he's more of a henchman.

Chris: Henchman, yeah.

John: For those of you building the characters in Savage Worlds, he would have one wild die. [Laughs]

Amy: Lackies don't have lines, henchmen do.

John: Ah, there you go, good point.

Marc: And this scene as well, the opening scene in this office was shot at like, one in the morning, twelve o'clock at night, Luke's first day—

John: [Laughs] Welcome to Leverage, Luke.

Marc: Yeah, exactly. And he just rocked it out.

Amy: Yeah, he's great.

John: He landed unctuous. It was a pity because it was one of those performances where in the middle you're like, ‘Oh man, I love when we find an actor and we want to bring them back— oh wait, he's a villain.’ This almost never happens with villains.

Marc: Yeah.

John: Drew was the exception, but he was a good guy villain.

Chris: I think he mentioned that he was a—he is a con man here, and that he could always have a twin brother.

[All Laugh]

Amy: Without the beard and mustache.

John: This is, uh, I actually showed up on set, I think this day, or the—I flew in...

Amy: This was my first day too.

John: Yeah, and we arrived and Marc was in the middle of planning the most insane thing ever.

Amy: Well, the thing is, I put this camera move in the script thinking and hoping maybe just to freak Marc out—with no expectation that he could possibly pull it off—as a joke!

John: Oh like the giant blue whale structure.

Amy: Yeah, yeah, as a friggin joke, and then like, he shows me this move, and, like, I nearly died.

Marc: I thought about it, and I was like, ‘Well, can we do it?’ And our First AD David Wechsler and New York AD goes, 'Do you want it?' I'm like, 'Yeah.' He goes, 'Then we could do it.'

John: Yeah, Wex stops traffic in New York; stopping traffic in Portland wasn't—'cause that's what happened, I showed up and I'm like, 'I'm going to the set' and they're like, 'I'm sorry sir, you can't go. They stopped traffic.' 'Well I know, but I'm a writer' 'No no, they're doing some sort of s—' I'm four blocks away! What the hell?’

Chris: By the way, Jeri Ryan here, fantastic look from Nadine—

Amy: Yeah.

John: And she's also got a great character going here—

Marc: She looks fantastic.

Chris: Got a great character.

John: This is a softer character than Jeri usually gets to play, even in the cons.

Marc: A little hippie-ish, yeah.

Chris: The hair was great. I mean really, they nailed this.

Amy: Well Luke even comments on it, “It’s a little on the nose, but [laughs] it works for you.”

John: But that’s the idea, to just kind of you know, not try to overthink it.

Amy: Yeah, it’s great.

John: And it was interesting, again, the—Jeri was great for us and she was really fantastic all year, but you know one thing she mentioned is, she got to play roles that nobody usually lets her play, even within the cons.

Amy: Yup.

John: And there’s another clue for you, where she spent the last—the time before her con career.

Marc: And here comes the shot.

Amy: I’m excited just thinking about it.

John: I’m a little giddy. Yeah, there you go.

Chris: Oh, around the corner!

John: Now that’s all done in camera, so what happens is you have to have everyone within view of that camera freeze. And then the camera man basically runs, we put a steadicam through and then we digitally speed it up.

Marc: Poor Gary Camp.

Amy: Gary Camp!

John: Poor Gary Camp.

Chris: Now that I thought about it, I bet you in the finale that’s what prompted Dean to do that shot with Sterling. 

John: Right.

Chris: I bet Dean was like, he saw this and he was like ‘Oh you wanna try and top me with that? Well come and watch this!’

[All Laugh]

John: ‘I start and stop it four times!’

Chris: ‘I gave you your chance!’

Marc: But I don’t know, if you play it back you can see we also put some digital birds that are stopped—

John: Seriously? Like, if you slow-mo it you can see?

Marc: Yes. If you slow-mo it you’ll see two pigeons in the middle and we pass right past them.

Amy: That’s awesome.

John: I like the fact that, again, they’ve electrified the table, and that Nate is on board with Parker. ‘Cause again, that’s one of those little hints that Nate’s… sadism, for lack of a better word? is really starting to overtake his good judgment.

Amy: Yes. He’s—yeah it’s, little by little he’s starting to sort of fall to pieces here and sort of turn to the dark side.

John: Well, what’s nice is we started with the arc with the hospital one with- with the sadism, and then, you know, we had to sort of lean back on it for Gina’s arc. And then when we came back it was nice, that was basically the thrust of the back episodes. This was a lot of fun coming up with what the possible fucking visions could be. Oh that’s… I’m sorry, I’m drinking. [Amy Laughs] They’re used to me swearing on these by now! This really is like making, building a puzzle backwards.

Marc: This was really clever writing, and then to have the ability to shoot it was so much fun.

Amy: Aw. Thank you Rosky.

John: Yeah. We try to keep you entertained up there, after all your—this was only your fourth?

Marc: Yes.

Amy: Fourth episode?

John: Fourth episode, with no notice.

Marc: Yeah.

Amy: How was this episode different from the other three you’ve done?

Marc: It was fun to be in different places, you know, just to new places in Portland. It was fun to have a guest star like Luke to work with. And I loved having the emotional hook with Parker, ‘cause my first episode I did in the first season was a Parker episode, it was the Stork Job.

Amy: Oh! This is like your Parker bookend basically. That’s great.

John: Also it was interesting, watching with the sound off, I didn’t realize that’s one of the longest villain character scenes we’ve ever had. Like just when he’s parked there at the chair and she runs the con on him. Luke was really, really great.

Amy: He’s not bad to look at. [John Laughs] That’s kinda my job since you’re all dudes. [Laugh]

John: Well you know, I can appreciate a nice piece of man flesh as much as the next person. What is in this?

[All Laugh]

Marc: And the coffee finally spills.

John: And did we do the driving stunt there? No the driving—yes, the driving stunt’s after this.

Chris: It’s after this, yeah.

Amy: Yeah, yeah it was, the first part of it yeah.

John: But we shot it that day.

Amy: With the amazing, highly maneuverable Hyundai Genesis.

John: Hyundai Genesis was great. If you’re gonna murder someone with a car, the Hyundai Genesis is the way to go.

Marc: This was another local actor, I mean he just has… what a great face for television.

John: You know what, he looks a little like the British actor Peter Mullan actually, the guy who was on The Fixer?

Amy: He does! Yeah he does.

John: It’s really, I’ll tell you what Portland gave us - good cops.

Marc: Yes.

Amy: Oh yeah.

John: Our cops up there, ‘cause we just look at the Bottle show, and the three guys who played the Boston cops in the background, they’re just grounded.

Amy: This guy smells cop. [Laughs]

Chris: If you’re a cop-looking guy living in LA and you wanna get some work...

Everyone: Move to Portland.

Amy: We’ll employ you!

Chris: Just go! You listen to this right now? Load up the car, get up there! There’s work for you, my friend.

John: After these commentaries come out, people are gonna be on buses. There’s gonna be, like, bus tours for actors. And this was a lot of fun, was coming up—this was actually, I think we’d had the fortune cookie con in something. What was the story? Remember? We’d had it on the board for a while. The fortune cookies, the substituting.

Amy: Oh dude, so long ago; I wish I had the answer to that.

John: A lot of the, I mean that’s the thing is, there’s actually in the writer’s room a board of stuff.

Amy: Yeah.

John: And some of the stuff has been around long enough that it’s like, I know there was a provenance.

Amy: I think there was a fortune cookie con card.

Chris: Mm, I don’t know if a whole… might have been a story beat; it wasn’t a whole con.

John: Not a whole con, it was a story beat, yeah. But the idea of substituting—

Chris: This is a great- Here we go; here it is. [Laughs]

Amy: Look at it shining in the sun, beautiful.

John: And that’s a great—what was the choice on the, like in the moment, in the script it just says, ‘He realizes.’ How did you decide to go to the slow-mo and..?

Marc: I wanted to do a slow-mo in the 360; the world’s kinda spinning on him and just the— 

Amy: The camera’s a great touch, too. I like it.

Marc: Yeah, well I wanted the can to just show the proximity of how close he was, how much he’s tempted fate.

John: This was also one of the sequences that—who cut this?

Marc: This was Sonny.

John: This was one of the sequences where Sonny Baskin really, really, really slammed it together because this is always tricky, figuring out how the flashbacks work. In what order, in what pace, at what exact moment in the scene. And I think in the script we played around with showing some of it upfront, and then—

Chris: How much of the dialogue to replay was kind of the trick.

John: Exactly, how much we make sure the audience is following.

Marc: And I don’t think some people were understanding, like, why I took so long to shoot that car sequence when he stepped out. That it does play later, and it does have to have different feels and looks to it.

Amy: There’s two parts to it, yeah.

John: And again, this is another one where you have to anticipate, this guy checks credit reports, we know he checked the victim’s credit report earlier, you know.

Chris: And another thing is, one of the hallmarks of our show is that when we create a character, we don’t always create powerful con characters. We create characters that have vulnerabilities that our bad guys can exploit. So here, we created a fake story of her having bad credit and being in debt for hospital bills.

John: Yeah it’s like Chris in the MMA one, Kane, he plays in a very power-negative position in that. Pretty much every variant of a con character you can possibly find.

Amy: José! The name on the cup.

John: And Chris is ridiculously delighted to be doing this at this point actually. [All Laugh]

Amy: How can you tell?!

John: I think he’s just enjoying stealing—driving a truck to tell the truth. And I love the idea that Hardison would do this and this is just what he does. He spends his weekends filling fortune cookies with fake messages. He does all the grunt work.

Marc: That’s a good shot.

John: That is a great shot. And we’re locked in. And this was also tricky, too, because again, because the victim had not been burned yet, essentially, and it was a preventative con. It’s not something we usually do, and trying to figure out how to accelerate this con, and what exactly Con A was, was really—it kicked our asses to tell you the truth.

Chris: The danger was really the tricky part, when to introduce the danger.

John: And now we knew we wanted to do the maestro Hardison beat in this script. Marc, you had a very specific reference for this whole bit, which was the radio announcer in Warriors right?

Marc: Yes. 

John: Though Hardison is basically being a geek hacker—what year was that, 1980… Walter Hill, The Warriors…

Marc: Late 70s.

Amy: ‘79, or something. Around there.

John: Basically Marc reached back, like 35 years, and found himself a really great filmic reference for her side.

Chris: Well the key here is, the writing of it was making sure to go quickly from one, to the next, to the next.

John: Boom, boom, boom.

Chris: Each piece of information feeds to her, and she synthesizes it and comes to a conclusion.

John: It also helps explain how good Tara is.

Chris: Yeah.

John: She’s gonna run this con character as she’s getting all this crap dumped into her ear.

Amy: She’s playing vulnerable to him, but sort of expert to us.

John: I also love that he’s just given up at this point. We had not told the set people to put the orange soda in the fridge, but they just filled it and it just stayed that way for the year. I love that Nate’s just given up.

Chris: Yeah, this is Hardison’s war zone. He’s gonna need to be armed.

Amy: Gummy frogs, always important.

John: Gummy frogs, a call back from the magician episode. And Aldis really dug in there, really great job. Oh that’s Ire!

Amy: That’s Ire!

John: Was our…

Chris: Camera intern?

John: Camera intern, yeah. And she does some acting, and she was fantastic. 

Amy: Her audition was fantastic, yeah.

John: Yeah, that was one of the ones where it was like, ‘Okay we’ll audition you.’ At the end of the audition, ‘Wow…you have a career in this.’ [Laughs] But she’s going into camera work. She’s gonna, believe back this year as one of our camera people...

Chris: Oh she’s gonna come back? Oh that’s great.

John: And why the choices on the lights in the- the blue? Just liked it? Just like the set of one color tone?

Marc: Yeah, just liked it. Dave had an idea about it, and it just worked real well.

John: And it stayed consistent through this setting. It’s a very nice contrast with the sort of warm orange and wood tones of like, Nate’s apartment. It helps track locations a lot easier.

Marc: And Beth freaked out a lot of people when she walked on set with that wig.

Amy: Many many people did not recognize her.

John: I know, that’s really odd, right?

Amy: It was fun.

John: It’s a great wig.

Amy: Yeah it is.

John: Hair and makeup did a great job with that, ‘cause you guys sent me the photos and I was like, ‘I have to shoot the season finale. Did they cut her freaking hair?’ No, great wig. And this is hot read, this is our crew doing hot reads on the fly, and it’s a lot like the Bottle show, where it’s like, you can’t do the wire in two hours. In theory, you can’t hot read someone simultaneously as you’re conning them. Well, you know.

Amy: Maybe you can if you’re Leverage!

John: You’ve got the little camera movements here, is that, you tried to track those or do you just assume that Camp and—?

Chris: Yeah, you’re making sure as you move in one direction on one, you move in the other direction on the other?

Marc: Uh, a little bit. We always wanna keep the sliders going, just pushing in at the appropriate moments especially when Ire- I mean she just did such a great performance, and did it in one take.

Amy: One take; it was one take.

Chris: And didn’t you say to her, ‘Save a little bit ‘cause you may need to do this again’?

Marc: Yeah. I said, I said, ‘Don’t let it all out so fast.’ And Luke was so great with her. Knowing that... He’s seen her pulling cable, and all of a sudden she’s in front and having to break down.

John: He was great with her. Now here’s the thing, most people don’t know what sliders are, why don’t you explain what sliders are? Most people know cameras move left and right but they, you know-

Marc: Sliders are what we have on our dollies and tripods that allow the camera head to move, I guess laterally, left and right, in a fluid movement. Just drifting, so always- the background’s moving just ever so slightly, so it never looks too stale or stagnant. There’s my Warrior shot!

John: And I notice you punched in, like closer, closer, til you land on it. It’s very nice. Also, I like the fact that the name of the National Transportation Safety Board—is that, that’s the name of Parker’s friend from… Peggy Milbank, is like the name that’s coming up, that’s Parker’s friend from the first season.

Amy: Yeah, it’s sort of like a little inside joke.

John: And Hardison, ‘Get the hell out of my way.’ It’s interesting, this is a big, kind of, Nate as guardian episode, and he’s not driving it. It’s one of the great episode examples of where Tim Hutton and Nate kind of just ground it, is kind of the center of it. There’s Wade.

Amy: Wade Williams, awesome actor. Perfect for this role.

John: I was wondering how he would play this reaction, because she’s, you know, he’s giving her a line of bullshit, and he’s gotta, he’s in front of everyone.

Amy: Yeah, he knows he’s on camera.

John: That reminds me of that guy who proposed to his girlfriend at the basketball game and she turned him down.

Everyone: Oh yeah!

Marc: Then the mascot walks him off.

John: Just put a- just end it. No, Wade was fantastic, he’d just come off Prison Break? Wasn’t he a guard on that?

Chris: And we had a long search for that part, too.

John: Yeah, we read a lot of guys. Well, because the original dialogue was somewhat baroque. [Laugh]

Amy: It was! It wasn’t exactly an easy thing to pull off, which is why we ended up casting it out of LA. It was just a really meaty part.

John: Nice fight coming up here, by the way. They actually banged the hell out of that van. You had to hammer a dent out, didn’t you?

Marc: Oh yeah. Yes we did. 

John: Just every now and then you bounce a stuntie off a van. Jeri mixing it up. Jeri was in there, yeah. Good hit! 

Marc: Our local stunt actors and Kevin Jackson choreographed this. 

Amy: The moment where he, sort of, notes the tattoo on the guy’s hand.

John: It’s a nice beat. It’s interesting, the Portland stunt guys really dug in. Because we did a lot more stunts and a lot more fights than four or five movies that have shot up there combined, and they really rallied. They were fantastic. And this was the—

Chris: But here’s where he has to synthesize everything. I mean, now, you know, is where he really steps forward.

John: Well this is really where he digs in on the mastermind thing. This is a good, ‘Let me get this straight’ scene. This is a nice- the ‘let me get this straight’ scene is where you just reset for the audience, you know, just reset the stakes, reset the plot.

Amy: Also known as ‘So you’re telling me.’

Chris: It’s a general rule of writing to show, not tell, and the exception to that rule is when the situation is either so absurd or entertaining that you get a second laugh on the retelling of it.

Amy: Just commenting on it.

John: ‘I wanna get this straight,’ yeah. And you can also hide it in planning, or when the characters don’t have enough information. But no, because the episode at this point—

Chris: There it is, I think she just said ‘so let me get this straight.’ 

[All Laugh]

John: ‘Cause this is the point where the episode becomes an entirely different episode, because the first con worked. Again, because that’s always the trick on these, like, in theory you don’t want something to just fall out of the sky and be wrong.

Amy: Well they basically had Dalton Rand in the bag, and then, a totally unexpected-

Everyone: It worked too well.

John: This was a lovely shot. Marc?

Chris: Oh, I love this.

Marc: This was, I wanted to try and get this in one steadicam shot and just show the energy and movement throughout. I mean we spent so much time in this apartment that it’s fun to try and mix it up again.

Chris: Oh here we go, and up the stairs!

John: Nice, how many takes was that?

Marc: I think we did it in about three or four takes.

Amy: That’s crazy.

Chris: That was it? Now that was planned as a one- or, or was that just the end of the day, we gotta get this shot?

Marc: No, that was planned. That was one shot I wanted to try and do that had a little more energy and fun to it. 

John: Marc’s lived at that set for a lot of shots, he wants to vary it up a little.

Amy: Time to mix it up. 

Marc: And this, this was an idea that Connell had. When he saw the location and the time we’re shooting at, he said, ‘Let’s establish their faces,’ and then just, she’s walking into darkness.

John: Just bump into silhouette.

Chris: And she’s in boots, so let’s pan out from them, so, let’s be honest.

Amy: That’s what boots are for.

Marc: This happened to be in the paper factory.

John: Is this the The Bottle Job paper factory?

Marc: Yes, it’s just the area that didn’t have paper. 

[All Laugh]

John: Now, yes, now we’re basically—yeah, there you go. He’s really digging in on this. ‘Come, come join me!’

Marc: And that was his idea, he said, ‘Get the lady a chair!’

John: This entire speech, I think I did drunk. 

Amy: This was me taking notes on a notepad when you were drunk in the writer’s room, reeling off this speech. 

Chris: It was a big debate about the- about what we- this guy, what was called in the writer’s room the evil scary guy.

John: Evil scary guy.

Chris: The appearance of evil scary guy. We typically don’t have dangerous villains appear late in episodes. Usually we’ve established them and so this was the idea that we were gonna have evil scary guy come at this point in the episode and you know, put everyone in mortal danger. And you went off in a very oddly baroque manner.

John: Yeah. I really—‘cause what I was doing was actually making fun of the idea. Because I was like, ‘Seriously guys, we’re gonna do this? Some guy’s gonna show up and go ‘Gentlemen, I have a problem!’’ And I basically did this speech with, like, a fistful of scotch, and Berg and Chris sat on the same side of the table and they both looked at me and went, ‘Yeah.’

Chris: ‘Yeah, yeah if you like that. That’s great.’

John: ‘Pretty much. Exactly like that. Thanks gentlemen. Debate’s over.’

Chris: ‘Debate’s done.’

John: ‘Debate’s done. That was entertaining, we all enjoyed it, therefore it is in the episode.’

Marc: This was fun to shoot; we had a circle track with, you know, two cameras and two separate dollies.

John: Wait, at the same time?

Marc: Yes.

Chris: Wow.

John: Oh, Jesus Murphy. So where is the circle track laid down, it’s on the outside of this beam?

Marc: On the outside of the beam, and yeah, just around everybody. 

John: Two sizes.

Marc: Yeah, two sizes. And then at one point towards the end we, you know, change direction, just to mix it up a bit. But it was fun to have this type of villain. In the beginning we’re dealing with someone who’s smart, looking at bank statements, and now we’re dealing with a guy with a gun and thugs, who spent time in upstate New York.

John: Yeah, and he really sold it. And also it- the rule is: the villain has to suffer. And interestingly enough, we started Darlton Rand’s suffering really early in this episode. His loss of power here is really, he has just a bad back two acts. And Luke played it very nicely. Like right here, where he’s trying to keep control.

Marc: Yeah, when he’s trying to keep control, and he’s still trying to sell the idea that he’s the psychic. 

John: Wade is terrifying. That was nice, picking up around here as she was dropping into it; that was very nicely done.

Marc: Yes, Gary Camp and Dave Connell.

Chris: Now how long did this take? Do you remember how many takes you did with this, with the circle track?

Marc: I think this scene, we… I believe we did it in just over an hour. Yeah, but it’s a lot of dialogue, and Wade did such a great job because, you know, he had to do it so many different times.

John: And there’s a lot of looks in this. There’s a lot of angles in this.

Amy: He just cracks me up.

John: Yeah, he does. He’s so happy. Yeah, you gotta bang them up from both sides, you’ve gotta pick him up talking to them. There’s no good way except a circle track to shoot that.

Marc: Yeah. I think that Jeri sells this really well in this scene.

John: She does. A little distressed, a little—

Marc: Yeah he’s walking in one direction, no, it’s not, this way. And it’s nice seeing, shooting over, oops, too early.

John: It’s always a little too early. A little too early.  Timing is a big part of the show. And yeah, fainting damsel never, never fails. 

Amy: Best stall ever.

John: Where was this? Was this, like, the storage unit place? Or this was on the road outside?

Marc: Uh, this wasn’t far from our sound stage.

John: Really? Really, we shot near the sound stage?

Chris: We got a lot of mileage within a couple hundred yards of our sound stage.

Amy: Clackamas.

John: Beautiful scenic Clackamas. And this actually, the fake registration idea came from Darwyn Cooke’s comic book adaptation of Parker. The Donald Westlake novel. In the opening of it, remember, he has the thing with Parker and—it’s one of my favorite starts to a novel, Parker’s walking into New York on the Brooklyn Bridge, like, but on the street? And people are—So what happens is, in the 1960s, he goes and gets his replacement driver’s license, and then he ages it. Because… and we spent a little time in the room like, what doesn’t have your picture on it? What can we age believably that, and, yeah that was where the idea came from. And then constructing this backwards to get the series of clues was- was a long afternoon.

Amy: Yeah, that was a tough—but then we broke this episode in one day, so it wasn’t that tough.

Marc: But I wasn’t allowed to break the window.

Amy: Oh that’s right, I remember that. Yeah, we had to, she had to jimmy it open.

Chris: ‘Cause that glass is expensive.

John: Breakaway glass is not cheap. Uh, there’s something creepily sexual about this exchange.

Chris: ‘Can I have your overalls?’

Amy: Yeah, and the look on Tim’s face, too.

John: Yeah, well I think that might not be the matching dialogue with that take, ‘cause I think it got a little dirty in that shot. Now this is a great location. I think we actually broke into a couple of storage units for this. People don’t mind, it’s Portland, they’re totally cool with us doing that. Good stall, and then we finally get Nate into a costume for the stall. Storage units, the anonymity of modern life is the key to Leverage. Storage units, cell phones, instant messaging, email, you know, I don’t think you could do this show in the 50s. And there you go, yeah.

Chris: Here he is.

Marc: Uh-oh. Gun, danger.

John: And, is that Dashiel Hammett or Raymond Chandler’s rule?

Amy: Yeah, Dashiel Hammett’s.

John: Dashiel Hammett. When in doubt, have a guy enter with a gun. And we actually have on the board in the writers room, ‘Man entering with gun > man exiting with gun.’ You have to understand, dude coming in… And Tim has an enormous amount of fun.

Chris: And this is his fumfering bureaucrat.

Marc: This was a fun shot to do. Craning up just to see, and then that’s the CG building that we added in the background.

Chris: That’s right, to set up the ending.

John: Yeah, in the original ending it was all done through remote camera, and then Dean suggested that we actually put it, attached it to it, and since cable access shows are shot in the middle of fricking nowhere, it actually worked out fine. And whenever- Oh, there you go.

Amy: Well I think Dean’s idea of that was just, sort of, to give our villain a bigger comeuppance, if he had to, sort of, face his victims...

John: Face-to-face. And that’s interesting ‘cause we always go like, you need the gloat, but you also need the suffering. And in the non-him-showing-up version, we had—

Amy: It was basically just the gloat, yeah. I mean he still ends in jail, but.

John: We have the people upset, but you know, you don’t get him looking them right in the eye.

Marc: Small spaces to work in. 

[All Laugh]

Chris: How was it like, shooting the storage locker?

Marc: It was a little tough.

Amy: I remember this day.

Marc: You know, it was a double, but we just made it look like one, so we had room to always just have the camera on one side.

Amy: Yeah, there was actually another storage locker that opened up right next to this, to the left, so we could have somewhere to switch the cameras.

John: So did you throw up like a half-wall over on that side, or is it just, stack some boxes to feel like-

Marc: We just stack some boxes and just move the camera, but you’ll notice the camera’s usually on that side, looking that direction.

Chris: And here’s where he’s really starting to lose it, ‘cause he does have an arc, from inexplicably baroque, to just completely losing it.

John: No, he totally sold this. There’s no doubt about it whatsoever. And you guys took what was a joke pitch and turned it into a real character. That was just me on a long drunken rant. I’m inexplicably baroque, in the room, often! 

Amy: This is, by the way, true. 

John: Yeah. And Luke, losing it. Really the whole confession, the whole begging; he really sold it.

Marc: And of course, you know, time constraints. His stuff was shot all at night, hers was all in the daytime.

Amy: Of course. That’s how it works.

John: Really? So looking at Luke, you were looking, you had night behind you looking out?

Marc: It was night.

Chris: Here we go.

John and Chris: Det cord.

John: So here’s a little something for the ladies, as my wife says. And now, this is very flashback heavy, but it’s all in continuity. You did a nice job of making sure we’ve seen just enough of these that we never floated. ‘Cause sometimes it’s like, ‘Oh god, do we know exactly where we are in this flashback?’

Chris: I think we compressed a little of it in editing too. I think there was a little bit more and we kind of just moved it all.

Amy: Yeah, there’s a lot more here than…

John: Ah, the network is unhappy; they’re gonna go get one of these real psychics now, not a fake psychic like this.

Chris: And then we get to see our victim again, and our other victim.

John: The proxy victim. 

Amy: And the camera lady’s like, ‘I don’t wanna be part of this,’ backing out of the scene.

John: And the begging and the pleading. There you go. And there’s all the people who’ve been hurt. 

Chris: The man from Michigan. 

John: Did he stay in a hotel? Why is he still there? He got his reading yesterday. I don’t remember why he…

Chris: He wanted to come back; he had more to find out.

John: I guess so, I guess so.

Marc: This is always fun when you shoot things on two different days, that end, and that end.

Chris: Is Tim looking at a tennis ball, what do you do?

John: Is that like Jurassic Park? Or it’s like this tennis ball on a hockey stick is Chris’ hair. ‘Just track this.’

Chris: You just make sure your script supervisor takes good notes of uh...

John: Look at that, you’re shooting past the car! He’s in the car. 

Chris: Nice, I never would have known that.

John: Nicely done. And this is actually, you know what? The president of the network the other day mentioned how much he loves the scenes where they’re all there. Where the guy actually, like, sees the whole- the whole con.

Amy: The family gloat, as opposed to just the singular gloat.

Marc: That’s the way we pull off this show in seven days - cheating.

Amy: Cheating very cinematically.

John: I prefer to call it cable awareness.

Amy: Cable awareness? Nice.

Marc: Now I think this next scene in the bar is, I think, one of my favorite wrap-up scenes that I’ve got to direct.

Amy: It’s one of my favorite, too.

Marc: It was one of these days where it was- there were so many tears on set.

John: We were coming to the end, too; we were getting there. Everyone was kind of rung up and spun up.

Marc: But everyone just, you know, Tim and Jeri and Beth and everybody, our guest actors, everybody just came in so strong and it was great.

John: This speech, by the way, you can really tell Tim’s a dad. That’s really how he lands this speech, it’s like, yeah.

Chris: Well the story, it’s an interesting story because the little peanut butter bit, a very good friend, a writer friend, Steve O’Donnell, who is a long time Letterman writer, and he has a twin brother Mark O’Donnell—also a writer, wrote the book to Hairspray. And I remember talking to him one time about the closeness of the two of them, and he said that they’re so close, that if you laid out peanut butter, that somebody spread on different pieces of bread, he could pick out his brother’s peanut butter. And it always stuck with me that that is something that, when I was writing this scene, that there’s just things that you see in your child that you just recognize from yourself or your father, and it has nothing to do with what you did, it’s all biological. And that was really, it did a beautiful job with it.

John: Nice landing on that. And Jeri there, by the way, she’s got a little glisten going there; she got a little moist.

Chris: And here’s this moment that was not scripted at all. Well, not intended in the script, but just through the acting.

John: But that was nice. Jeri landed the arc. She kind of completed Tara’s arc through there. 

Chris: Yeah, she got it.

John: She had gone through all six episodes and she, you know, a lot of actors would come in and take up the space and say thanks for the job, but she really put in the work from [unintelligible].

Chris: There it is. I mean, that’s like...

John: I mean, she’s breaking your heart there.

Chris: She’s hugging her brother.

Marc: And I just gotta make sure that she makes that eye contact with Nate.

Chris: And it was all because that part about her brother was added after that scene was written, but she brought it together in this moment.

John: It’s a lovely beat. We have very, very good actors.

Marc: Then we release the valve and let you chuckle here.

Chris: Yes. We call it, in the comedy business, a treacle cutter.

John: A treacle cutter, yeah. And also Kane really lands these beats. He really- it goes from a smile, all the way to annoyed. He hits both of the crucial Eliot beats here. It’s the grin, and then, ‘I’m gonna kick your ass.’ He really hits all the bases on that one.

Chris: And we kind of end on her surrogate brother here.

John: Yeah. Who she may sleep with. Still haven’t decided that.

Amy: It’s a little incestual.

John: Yeah, you know, all television’s a little incestual. 

Chris: Oh they’re all...

John: What, they’re all sleeping together, is that what you meant? What’s going on up there?

Chris: No, that’s—Come on. It’s like Star Wars.

John: Oh there you go, that’s perfectly legit. Anything you want to say to the nice folks?

Amy: Thanks everybody.

Why Jensen can not control his body near Misha? Why he can't hide his reaction though Misha apparently can ?

Hey! Thanks for the question!

Let me preface this by saying that I do not know any of the people involved and this is pure speculation.

I also want to point out that while this post contains Cockles content, this is my own head canon on the two of them, and should never be pointed out to them nor should they be asked about any of this. Nor should their wives.

On this blog, we do not believe that any relationship between Misha and Jensen is cheating on their wives. While we know Misha and Vicki practice polyamory, no such statements have been made by the Ackles. But considering Dee’s obvious love for Misha, the assumption is that any relationship is consensual among all four of them. We respect and love the wives. And any intolerance or disrespect toward them won’t be accepted.

We all know Misha has tumblr, if he’s trolling around, that’s on him, as he knows this is where the fandom discusses and shares this sort of thing. This is largely a site for fandoms. But on the .0000001% chance that he or anyone he knows sees this, absolutely zero disrespect or offense is intended.

This information is my own theories and in. I way represents the thoughts of Misha, Jensen, Danneel, or Vicki.

It’s funny you should ask this, because I literally just came up with a theory about this tonight. 😂

It was while discussing Jensen and acting with Misha or Dee in the future and if he’d ever be able to act with them and not play a character in love with them.

In a nutshell, could Jensen Ackles act in a project with Danneel Ackles or Misha Collins and not come across as a puppy in love?

And the answer I came up with is kind of surprising.

Danneel? Yes.

Misha? No.

You may be going, but Jen, isn’t that backwards? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

One might think so.

Initially.

But think about it.

First, we know Jensen is really good at poker. The cast has had stories about playing poker that they’ve told at cons on at least 2-3 occasions.

I got the impression he takes it seriously.

We also know that Jared can’t make him break on set, or that’s it’s difficult.

So, why then, does Jensen act like a puppy every time he’s around Mr. Dmitri, but not his own wife?

Well, he does act dopey around Dee.

But the difference is he’s allowed to be dopey with Dee.

I think it’s more to do with the fact that he feels like it’s okay to show he loved Dee in public. That love is allowed to be externalized and he doesn’t think about consequences or reprocussions. It just is.

But he doesn’t feel like he can do that with Misha (maybe, again, this is all speculation). Possibly to the point where you tell yourself not to do something and it becomes the only thing you can do.

We know Jensen is shy. So in the beginning I think he was somewhat better at keeping himself in check. As time passed by, especially post breakup and reconciliation, he became more secure in however him and Misha define what they have.

And that comfort, and probably Misha (god, I don’t want to use this word 😂) influencing him (🤣🤣🤣) and helping him to get more comfortable in his own skin (I’m sure Dee helped with that too!) he just eventually stopped giving a fuck.

Now, my Misha and Dee comparison. From her time on SPN, we see that they can work together without him acting like a fool around her. And this, I think is because he’s never felt like he had to hide his love for her. Or pretend it was less than what it is.

But he still worries about Misha. While he may be out of fucks in how he acts around him (especially while he’s been drinking at jib), he still worries about being too outside the norm. So he can’t externalize his feelings for Misha, publicly.

As for Misha and him being able to not act like a school girl with a crush?

While rarer, Misha has his moments of getting lost in all that Jensen is.

But I think Misha has always been comfortable in who he is. Vicki has written a book on threesomes and discusses polyamory, and uses real life examples of their relationship and how they’ve been with other people (I’ll preface this but with the fact I haven’t read the book, but from what I gather from some posts and reviews on the book, it’s implied that some of those relationships Misha has had were with women and men) and how polyamory is something that works for them.

He’s never wanted to be normal and he’s never apologized for who he is. So I think that lack of an internal struggle makes it that he doesn’t have an external struggle over showing what he feels.

aoki imojen was born to understand what it was to live a life with no structure. her father was part of a rising band in the 90s, toured all over small venues in japan that they slowly rose to a known local name, and imojen has seen all the chaos unfold from backstage in the arms of her mom. however, slowly transitioning into the year of 2000s, the economy was still struggling from the lost decade and the income from touring never sufficed for a growing family. imojen’s father was forced to leave the music scene with the help of her mother’s influence: “it’s time to be serious”; and work multiple jobs in order to fully provide for his first child and the another growing one inside his wife’s womb. 

growing up, imojen’s no stranger to music and her father loved to introduce rock music and bands to imojen’s upbringing. she adored b’z and the gazette, and it leaves no doubt that imojen’s father had been her greatest influence in life. as she grew older, not only did they share identical music preferences and influences, but imojen’s learned to play various instruments— the bass being her favorite. imojen’s also stemmed from that infamous reckless behavior his father’s known for back in the day, and when the teenage years came, so did the impetuous reputation begin. 

imojen and her mother aren’t exactly as close as she was with her father. in fact, their relationship was a toe out of the civil line. it got worse when imojen started to focus on the band she created with friends instead of school and late night practices turned to never returning home for a few days and having the audacity to blatantly lie when asked where she was when asked. it’s hard not to blame her mother when she assumed things for the worst. imojen’s gone quite defiant especially when she discovered that her and her father’s relationship had began to run askew. imojen blames her mother’s interference with her father’s music career as much as her father did, she loved him so much that she was completely blindsided to always take his side. and when the divorce papers came and went, imojen chose her father as she always would. 

her father got a job as a musician locally and eventually overseas, however, money didn’t come by so fast and easy initially. instead of going to university, imojen invested in learning the arts in tattoo design and worked as a tattoo artist to help with the bills. the pair finally thought to settle in korea when imojen’s father got a permanent job. and at this time, imojen has decided to try pursue a career as a musician as well, hoping that the thrill in her early band days are still well stored in her system.

imojen can never be satisfied of living in the same area for so long, or at least under the roof with the watchful eye of her father. work’s payed well and imojen decided to move out and get an apartment of her own. hence, she found dallyeog, parties almost every single day, drags everyone into spontaneous adventures, comes home terribly drunk and wakes up with a huge hangover—well, still pretty normal. aside from the norm, imojen working at the tattoo parlor and taking gigs at bars as a bassist, imojen’s investing in writing music as well. she hopes one day to finally finish at least one song she’s been procrastinating for far too long and convince her father to make them a rock duo instead, but a band of her own would fantastic too.

imojen looks quite mean at first glance, and it doesn’t help that she’s indifferent towards anyone who isn’t part of already her friend. she doesn’t hate, hate is such a strong word, she simply doesn’t have the attention span for people that don’t interest her or she doesn’t know fully well to enjoy a conversation with.

honestly has the gina linetti energy “how was i supposed to know there’d be consequences for my actions” as she literally does anything she wants before her brain can even weigh the pros and cons to it.

imojen enjoys taking risks despite the relaxed attitude and seemingly nonchalant view in life. it might be a surprise to learn that she’s quite ambitious, but underneath, she does aim for the highs (both meanings) in life, except there isn’t exactly a time frame for those and would much rather pursue them steadily. 

everyone can depend on imojen to have a good time, or if someone needed a friend to vent to, she can surprisingly be all ears, but never follow her words of advice. she does mean well, it’s just that she doesn’t know what she’s saying half the time and is quite reckless,, like ask her to pick between two choices and she’ll advice you to take the riskier one bc “it’s fun don’t be a prude”.

she is more sympathetic than she let on. imojen’s not very vocal especially with her emotions and on what she exactly feels about other people’s situation. serious conversations? catch her yeet away from those. they render her uncomfortable, most especially if it is about her. however, seeing her friends gloomy doesn’t sit right with her that she does anything to make them crack a smile. 

believes that people should be left to roam free and that authority is useless and ruins the fun— hence why she’d always be caught defying them. yes, she uses her brain, but acts more towards intuition and what she felt like doing that day. so yes, she might loves setting her life on the line.

plastic hearts   ╱   someone whom imojen shares a passion for music with. the both of you are like peas in a pod as you both are in the same wavelengths as each other. they may not have the same types of music, but open enough to share a plethora of music playlists.

angels like you   ╱   the typical bad-good influence trope wherein imojen’s reckless behavior and liberated thoughts on legalities have gotten your muse in various dangerous but fun adventures. on a flip, your muse may be the reason why imojen’s woken up at 8 in the morning, bright, well, and not hungover.

prisoner   ╱   an angsty and toxic relationship that imojen could not get enough of. everyone sees this partnership (romantic or platonic) of destructive nature, both of you may or may not know, but regardless it can never be broke off no matter how hard both try.

night crawling   ╱   imojen’s ride or die, the person she would instantly run to for an adventure, midnight strolls, alcohol escapades, and vandalism. but as things you both do burst into haywire, you’re both aren’t afraid to be open to each other too and spill secrets or bodies hidden in the closet. 

midnight sky   ╱   perhaps a new acquaintance?? friend?? that doesn’t exactly have a first good impression of imojen?? maybe vomited on your muse the first time they met, or jen was really mean for no reason under the influence of alcohol?? she’s chaotic so perhaps it wasn’t a good first meeting. 

bad karma   ╱   imojen hasn’t been exactly an angel all her life, and perhaps karma has run around to bite her in her ass. your muse might’ve been somebody who hurt imojen; either a terrible break up or severing trust, let’s explore :D

Jibcon10 Auto Stories!

I have so much to tell you all about Jibcon as it was such a wonderful experience and I can’t even begin to express just what an amazing week I had being surrounded by such a positive and happy fandom, along with a very happy and relaxed SPN cast. It was truly magical.

First I want to share my auto stories as I was fortunate enough to have some lovely experiences with all of J2M.

Misha

I had my Misha auto first of all, and I was getting him to sign my Castiel funko pop. I was really nervous as this was my first Misha interaction of the con and last year I didn’t really have a good interaction with him at autos because he was super exhausted and just not really present in the room it seemed. This year as I approached the table he was smiling, he looked refreshed and SO BEAUTIFUL OMG. He looked up and smiled at me and my brain kind of turned to mush right there. I can pretty much only remember saying “Hi Misha” and something along the lines of “I hope you are having a good morning” which could have easily come out as a mumbled scream, but he smiled and responded that he was doing really well and happy to be here (or something like that as I said I can barely remember it!). I then handed him my TFW2.0 button that I was giving out to everyone I met at the con. I told him “I wanted to give you this, as I am spreading a bit of positivity and love to everyone with this button” and he looked at it and grinned and then looked up and said thank you and WINKED AT ME and in all honestly I think I had already died from staring directly into Misha’s eyes at this point so had to have this all retold to me by Jen afterwards.

Jared

I got really lucky with Jared because he was also in a really good and quite chatty mood when I went over to him. He immediately started asking how I was and when I replied he asked me about my accent (AGAIN since he also picked up on my British accent last year!) and where I was from. When I said I was from London he asked if I was staying in Italy long and I told him that sadly no, I was flying back home on Monday. He goes “Ah bummer” and I sort of shrugged. He then looked down at my Sam funko pop and asked “where shall I sign him?” and I said “oh anywhere you want really!” and he was being really cute like “okay I’ll just sign his head here” and fumbling around with a silver pen. I then also told him that I wanted to give him a button like I did with Misha, and he goes “ooh yes!” and he took it and read it and said “What does TFW mean?” and I just looked at him like “seriously Jared? Team Free Will!” and he laughed and was like “OH YEAH DUH” and he then read it again and fist pumped and said “YEAH TEAM FREE WILL TWO POINT OH!” and we laughed and that was nice. THEN I said “Oh just quickly, I really wanted to thank you for everything you said in your panel yesterday (Jared’s Saturday afternoon panel) because so much of what you were saying about the show really resonated with the fandom and those of us who talk about it and write about it online. Your thoughts just seemed really on point and I thought it was such an interesting and enjoyable panel and I wanted to thank you for that. I loved it.” and he was nodding and smiling and he said “really? You really thought that?” and I was like “yes it was awesome” and he seemed really touched that we were all really interested in what he was saying and he held my gaze for a while and was so attentive and honestly I just love him and both times I have met him now he has been very gracious and attentive and engaged which I think says a lot about how much he cares about his fans.

Jensen

I was the MOST scared to approach Jensen because my auto with him last year (being the only time I actually had a 121 interaction with him at the con) wasn’t really good because he didn’t seem to be in a good mood and wasn’t really interested in interacting with me. I barely got a “hello” from him which made me sad. This year, I really wanted things to go better, and I had my commission from @winchester-reload for him to sign so I was hoping that he’d be in a better mood. 

Well luckily he WAS. He was late for autos, and the staff were really rushing us through. He had three handlers all swarming him and it’s no wonder the guy appears grumpy sometimes. But when I approached he looked up at me and smiled and oh he is so pretty... He says “hi” and grins and that’s the first difference from last year. So I say “Hi Jensen, how are you doing?” and he responds that he is doing great. Then he looks down at the art which has been moved over by Daniela and I tell him that I commissioned my friend to do the portrait when we heard he was going to be Bacchus and he was like “wow really? You commissioned this? It’s really good!” and he was looking at it for quite a while after he signed it, so I pulled out my spare print and said “yeah, she’s really talented and I have a spare print for you if you wanted it?” which he took and seemed really pleased and said “wow thank you so much” (or something like this remember guys my brain is MUSH after this weekend) but yes, he seemed very pleased to be getting his own print of it. Well, at this point the handler to my left is saying “thank you” quite firmly at me trying to get me to move along and literally repeating “thank you” every few seconds and is starting to piss me off, but Jensen side eyes this guy too like he is also aware that he is being rushed and finds it all rather impolite (bless him really he must put up with so much shit) but I stand my ground because I want to give him my button. So I say “one more thing really quickly, I really wanted to give you this. It’s only a little thing but I gave these to the other guys as well because I’m spreading some positivity around about the show and TFW2.0 and it means a lot to me that you know how much we love all these characters” (Or something like this - half the time I ramble I know I say something like this but probably far less articulate on the day) and he picks up the button and looks at it again for what seems like a really long time and then he looks up at me again and smiles this really nice kind of touched smile (I think, it seemed like he was touched) and he mouths “Thank you” and holds my gaze and I can’t really express exactly what it was that he was conveying in that moment but for me it was a really great moment that spoke to me quite a lot.

So all in all it was a great moment and I really hope he takes the print of Jackie’s portrait with him because no doubt Danneel would also LOVE to see it! Here’s the signed version:

Basically I was totally overwhelmed by everything BUT I really enjoyed it and I can’t express enough how lovely and charming J2M were all weekend. All of them seemed really happy, refreshed, and just generally in great moods. It was a huge difference from last year.

Alex

My interaction with Alex was also really lovely and he is such a sweet guy. He scribbled all over a page of my scrapbook and I also gave him a button which he happily accepted. If you’ve had an auto with Alex you’ll know that he has this personalised “A” that he likes to draw as well as to write “Jack” next to his autograph with a backwards “k” which is adorable.

Richard Speight Jr and Rob Benedict

I have to add Rich and Rob here because I had a really good time with both of them at autos. I went to Rich first and I held out my scrapbook and told him he had a whole page to scribble whatever he wanted on. He was immediately like “oooh!” and started drawing. I spoke to him about his direction style and how I always love it when he directs because he manages to make every frame look beautiful. That 12x12 has some of the most gorgeous shot compositions especially and I really hope he keeps directing in season 15. He was really touched by what I said and was like “Really? Thank you so much!” and I said “Yes, and I’m not just saying that because you also act on the show. Seriously, you have a wonderful style and I’m looking forward to what you do next.” He smiles at me and hands me my scrapbook and says “that what you had in mind?” and I said “omg yes thank you so much!” and he laughed. This was what he did:

So then I go over to Rob and I tell him the same thing, to scribble in my scrapbook. But I say “no pressure, but Rich drew me a picture.” and he says “oh nooo” and turns over the page to see what Rich drew. He laughs and faux panics like “so much pressure!” and starts scribbling. So I do my usual “talk about something that’ll interest them” because I hate standing there in silence waiting for them to sign, so I tell him that I’m really looking forward to what Chuck gets up to next in Season 15 now that he’s basically become a sadistic fanfiction writer. He laughs at that and says yes, he’s really looking forward to it because as an actor, it’s always really fun to play a different role, or look at a character from a different angle and playing the villain now is something he is really excited about because he gets to stretch his acting wings a bit. So I tell him I can’t wait to see how it all plays out and then he grins and hands me my scrapbook and I just go all gooey and say “ahh thank you so much. You win.” and he laughs and I think that pleased him. He wrote this:

So yeah basically I left every single auto I had with a brain made of mush just walking on cloud 9. I haven’t even mentioned Ricky Whittle yet... that was... something. But consider that a separate post as this got long.

In hindsight, Shane is too old to have thought that friends with benefits was something that the two of them would be able to pull off. He’s had friends with benefits before that worked beautifully, but they were not with people whose jobs were tied up in his own, whose friendships were as closely interwoven into Shane’s everyday life as Ryan’s is. He’d thought these were the very things that could keep it from getting weird, because they were such good buddies, Ryan would be solidly cemented as his pal that nothing could shift him.

This was a miscalculation, on Shane’s part.

He sells crystals, which means he’s a con man, which means he’s a deviant of at least some kind, which means he’s been to a sex shop and he knows exactly what Shane means. “Listen,” Shane says, and then nothing else, because Ryan The Counter Man pulls an arm behind his head to stretch and the sight of his surprisingly beefy arms short-circuits Shane’s brain.

The man blinks patiently at him. “I’m listening,” he says, encouragingly.

OR: An AU in which Ryan runs a crystals store, and Shane is beguiled by him anyway.

He sat cross legged on the couch flipping absentmindedly through his book while his mind ran over all the things he needed to get done in the coming week. It never seemed to end but it was so worth it. The busyness, the exhaustion, the time away from home. He felt like he was really doing something with his life and it made him feel so content.

A knock sounded on the hotel room door jerking him free of his musings. He jumped up and padded across the room wondering who it could be at this hour. A glance through the peep hole answered that question. He threw the door open and guestured for Jensen to come inside.

"Hey! I wasn't expecting you. Everything ok?" Misha smiled warmly but his smile drooped when he noticed the look on his friends face.

"We gotta talk Mish. What the hell was that during your panel on Friday?!" Jensen's glassy eyes told Misha he'd been drinking. Not so much he didn't know what he was doing but enough to loosen a tongue that was usually very controlled.

"You're not seriously upset about that, are you?  Come on Jensen, we both know the writers have been playing up that "will they/won't they" tension for years now.  They won't pull the trigger on it unless you're on board but that doesn't mean it's not there.  The fans know it and my fans enjoy an open dialog about it.  If they bring up Destiel I'm not just going to shut them down.  That's not fair."  His thick thighs flexed with the effort to lower himself to the couch in the living room.  Green eyes flashed for a second before returning to meet his blue.

"Ok, yeah, but that wasn't all you talked about.  What did they call it? 'RPF'?" His faded skinny jeans strained as he took a seat on the couch across from his long time friend.  Jaw working while he tried to find the words to express why he was so frustrated but he was having trouble figuring it out as well.

"Cockles.  You're pissed because I joked about you and I.  Come on, man, you know I was joking.  Daneel makes jokes about it all the time.  She even called me after the panel to laugh about it.  Are you having a "no homo" moment, is that what this is?" Misha swallowed the nervous disappointment that had thickened in his throat and pasted on what he hoped was a reassuring grin.  He suspected that maybe he'd let it go too far this time.  Maybe this man he'd been in love with for years finally saw his shenanigans for what they were.  An admission.

"Mish, look, I just....I mean I get uncomfortable.  I hate that some of the fans get shitty with you over it but I don't feel like we should get involved or it'll snowball. You know how I feel about you.  You and Jared are my best friends."  Jensen rubbed his scruffy face in frustration.  He couldn't get the words to connect to anything coherent.  Hell, he didn't even know what he was trying to say or why he was even there.  He'd come over in a rush, finally free from the schedule, but now he wasn't sure what he'd been so irritated about.

"What makes you uncomfortable?  Help me understand because I'm not sure I'm getting it. You realize this is no different that if the fans were wanting you to get together with any woman on the show.  I'm not telling you what to think or how to respond but I'm not going to allow it to be any different in terms of a conversation when it comes up in my panel because I refuse to alienate our LGBTQ fans.  If you think I'm wrong, call me out.  I want to hear what you think."  Misha stood up and began to pace as he talked, uncomfortably aware of how important this was to him at the moment and how quickly he would know for sure how Jensen felt about this, once and for all.  Maybe he didn't want to know.

"Well, I mean, don't you think Vicki might be just a little uneasy with the idea of you and some dude...." Misha cocked an eyebrow and stared back at Jensen.  Jensen smirked when he realized how stupid that particular concern was. 

"Jens, what are you really worried about?  Lay it all out there.  You can trust me, you know that." As he spoke he returned to the couch and sat down close enough to smell the familiar musk that seemed to follow this Texan everywhere.  Brow furrowed in earnest, Misha laid his hand over Jensen's fidgeting fingers trying to get him to relax. His reaction was the opposite.

Jensen jumped up from the couch and strode to the door.  "I shouldn't have come...you're probably right...I'm just overreacting."  His words tumbled out of his mouth in a fury. Misha jumped and ran after him, his heart hammering in his chest and quickly filling with dread. Just before he pulled the door open, Misha's toe caught on the rug sending him plowing into Jensen's back slamming them both into the door.

Taking a step back and murmuring apologies, his blue eyes sought out the green ones he cared about so much.  Jensen's were blown wide and frantic as he turned to look at his long time friend.  Misha wrapped his palms around the other man's shoulders and searched his face.

"Jensen, please.  Talk to me. If I've upset you this badly I'll do whatever I need to to fix it but something else is wrong here, I can feel it."  Jensen took a deep breath and looked at the floor as he rubbed at his neck.

"Do you even think about how it makes me feel when you talk that way?" The words came out quaking with uncertainty.

"No.  I guess I hadn't.  I mean we all joke constantly, I didn't think it mattered.  Honestly if the idea upsets you that much I'll just.."

"No, Mish, you're not understanding me.  I don't know how to come back from this but I can't keep it buried because every time you talk about it, at a con or on set, I wonder and it's torture.  Do you even mean what you're saying or is it all an act?  Do you actually...I mean, am I the only one who feels like this tension is real?"  Jensen chewed his lip nervously and looked anywhere but at the soft smile forming on Misha's lips.

So since I have seen a lot of people freaking out over finding out the voice actor for Jinn is the same as Luffy from One Piece I was reminded that not everyone is a weird voice actor nerd like me so I thought I would draw your attention to some of the bigger named voice actors RoosterTeeth has managed to land for our beloved RWBY.

Jen Taylor

Now if you've been paying attention to the credits you may have noticed that she is the voice of Salem. Jen lends her voice for video games and some of you gamers out there may have recognized her voice from a certain AI

Cortana from the Halo series. And yes she also provides the voice for the Windows Cortana that lives in your computer or Windows phones. Do you know how freaky it is for me to set a reminder on my computer just to have Salem tell me not to forget to call my mom today?

Vic Mignogna

It's a mouthful I know. He voices our dear Uncle Qrow. Vic is a popular name in voice acting. Even some of my friends who are horrible at knowing who voices who are aware of who this guy is but for those of you who aren't aware he most recognizably voices this pipsqueak.

Edward Elric from the FMA and FMA:B series. Quite the difference in voice delivery isn't it? You would also recognize him as Ikkaku Madarame in Bleach, Zero from Vampire Knight, and Rin Matsuka in Free! Fun fact? Dudes also a singer!

J. Michael Tatum

This man delivers us the charming voice of Weiss's butler and, honestly, father figure, Klien. He is the only voice actor I have met in person and seriously guys he is a sweetheart! It was at a con last year and my best friend was fangirling so hard over this man I though she was going to faint when he passed by and waved at us when we crossed paths in the hotel restaraunt. But this guy must have a thing for butlers because you may recognize him as certain demon butler

So he voices Sebation Michaelis in Black Butler! You may have also heard his voice as Kraft Lawence in Spice and Wolf, Scar in FMA:B, or Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan.

Cheramie Leigh

So this beautiful flower gives us the voice of Ilia Amitola. She is one of my favorite voice actors (along with the next two I will be mentioning) and has also dabbled in video games. But aside from our precious reptilian child you would also recognize this short stack (serious guys she's five feet even) as a certain badass swordswoman.

Asuna Yuki, the second best player in SAO and probably the only thing that terrifies the actual best player in the game who also happens to be her boyfriend and in game husband. When she isn't voicing Asuna you may have caught her voice in Lucy Heartfillia from Fairy Tail, Patty Thompson from Soul Eater, Sailor Venus in Sailor Moon Crystal, and, most gut wrenchingly, Elicia Hughs, Maes Hughs daughter, from the FMA series where she ripped all out hearts out by asking why they were burying her father when he had to to to work the next day. On the video game front you may have heard her as Gage the Mechomancer from Borderlands 2, Makoto Nijima from Persona 5, A2 in Neir: Automata, and female V in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. You may have also seen her in a live action movie with Shane Dawson titled Not Cool.

Monica Rial

Though we only see her for like five minutes Monica voices a character everyone was very suddenly attracted to. High Leader Sienna Khan. Typically known for voicing characters with a high pitched voice you may know her as a wizard with the heart of an angel and the soul of a devil.

Also known as Mirajane Strauss. This woman has quite the repertoire under her belt, lending her voice to hundreds of characters but some you may recognize are May Chang in FMA:B, Bulma on DBZ (Kai and on), Tsubaki in Soul Eater, Yukari in Rosario + Vampire, Stocking in Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Mei Rin in Black Butler, or Chitaru in Riddle Story of Devil. Fun fact about this woman? She loves to troll people. Often finding people cosplaying as characters she's voiced and asking for a picture with them only to do the voice and scurry away.

Colleen Clinkenbeard

She is the most recent addition to RWBY and the whole reason for this novel sized post! The voice of the mysterious naked blue genie, Jinn. Known for lending her voice to the incredibly hot badasses some people consider Colleen to be the sexiest voice in English dubbed anime. You may know her as a special Lieutenant with damn good aim.

Ah yes...Roy Mustangs babysitter and residential badass of the FMA series, Riza Hawkeye. Among the other badasses she voices is the rubber pirate Monkey D. Luffy (which came as a shock to many people including my brother), Erza Scarlet in Fairy Tail, Yuko Ichihara in xxxHolic, Rin Asogi in Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, Vampire Moka from Rosario + Vampire, and Titania in Ancient Magus Bride.
