Macavitys orange
Tumblr media
Demeters a tortoiseshell
Tumblr media
Electra is an orange tortoiseshell
Also, NO Electra x macavity fanfics, please. I'm uncomfortable with that on my post.

If you had to change the main color of any character, what would you choose to do?
Hmm
Probably not change it permanently, but Madrid Jemima was purple in color, and I just think it fits her so well. I love the idea of a Jellicle being purple, and even made an OC who is purple.
Also, I think Jemima being more purple would match better with the revival Jemima wig.

bomba deme and jemima!
Bombalurina is based off of venus (the planet) and venus/aphrodite for no particular reason other than i'm gay for her and i wanted to. she's about the same height as tugger and they are best friends (and matching bisexual messes) they did date once but realised quickly that it was not gonna work. she's now dating deme
demeter based on the aurora borealis bc its really pretty and she's icy blue to kind of contrast macavity? speaking of mac she is 112% sick of his shit
Jemima is a shooting star, realistically her tutu wouldnt be that poofy but i think her choreo would have lots of jumps and fun spins to show off the ribbons/tule

Guess what I just found in my drafts that I meant to publish like... a year ago 🥴🙃🥲 Anyway, have some details about my CATS Speakeasy AU! I'm really hoping to get back around to this in more detail sometime soonish, so better to study up now...
Munk is the adopted son of Old Deut, who raised many such foundlings and in general created a safe place for anyone who didn't have one. In the narrative of the AU, he's trying to solve one of Macavity's plots (probably some kind of kidnapping situation). He also takes care of Jemima, who was left on his doorstep in an echo of his own origin. Plato tags along as his apprentice, although he's not often helpful with his two younger brothers, Tumblebrutus and Pouncival, getting in his way.
The titular speakeasy, The Smitten Kitten, is co-run by Deme and Bomba, as a way to get back on their feet after escaping from Macavity (along with Alonzo, who plays piano). Tugger is also here, doing miscellaneous jobs and generally being an obnoxious flirt. Romances are undefined as of now but definitely happen.
Bustopher Jones is a British expat who moved to the US with his housekeeper (and requited crush) Jennyanydots, in a misguided attempt to straighten out his godchildren/wards, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. It does not go well, especially when Munk needs to call on the twins' troublemaking abilities to infiltrate Macavity's lair.
Some other things I've worked out, but haven't managed to integrate into the main plot yet:
Jellylorum and Asparagus (Gus Jr) run a struggling off-Broadway theatre started by their father. In between shows, they rent out the stage to Cassandra and Misto, who alternate their acts, and a spare dressing room to Coricopat and Tantomile. The twins, Cass, and Misto all met in the circus, but split off because of mistreatment and nonpayment. Victoria joined Misto's act after failing to find work as a ballet dancer elsewhere, and the two now brand themselves as siblings. The group don't mean to take advantage of the siblings, but attendance is inconsistent, to say the least. Of course, Jelly and Gus Jr would never kick them out — they know their father would loathe to see the building closed even temporarily.
Skimbleshanks is a trolley driver. (I know this entry is comically short compared to the last one, but I imagine he'd just pop up occasionally throughout the story. Sometimes simpler is better.)
I really want to fit Algernonny (my OC) in here somewhere, but I haven't settled on anything yet. Maybe he drives a bookmobile??
Olivetti (my other OC) is a bit easier to place, since he'd be a reporter, but I'm not sure what effect he'd have on the story at large.
Some relationships (familial, platonic, and romantic) I want to emphasize:
None of Munk/Tugger/Mac are related, nor are any of them directly related to Old Deut. In my eyes, Macavity has always worked better as an entity lurking in the shadows than someone who is well-known and emotionally tied to the other characters.
Re: the Smitten Kitten bunch, I haven't untangled who I want them and Munk to end up with (or maybe they just all end up together?). There will definitely be some one-sided Platugger flirting because I can. (Algie/Alonzo is also a done deal, but that doesn't mean Alonzo doesn't get to participate here too.)
I haven't decided whether I go the Victeazer or Tantoteazer route yet. I'm leaning towards Mistojerrie though as a new thing for me.
Asparagus and Skimbleshanks will end up being a thing, because I can't get enough of them two <3
I haven't decided if I want Jenny to be Plato (etc.)'s mom. It would be easier to tie that household into the main goings-on that way, but also (if you couldn't tell) I'm trying to improvise on a lot of these characters and come up with new relations -- at least for the ones for whom I don't already have a ship I'm attached to.\

Soo heard ya seen the georgetown palace production of cats with the female munk kinda curious on ur thoughts on whats the production like?
It was fun :o3 Im forgetting stuff already, but I do know that seeing it changed my opinions on Skimbleshanks.
Using this ask as an excuse to write down a summary for myself (not in exact song order uhhh)
Starting numbers were good. Don’t have much to say, but seeing it live and kinda close is def different from seeing 5 pixel bootlegs!! These cats are people sized!! Also you could hear the noise when they pounced on the floor. I think some of that had to do with how small the theatre was. Also Vickys solo was mostly on a pole. I thought that they wouldn’t keep the sensuality of her parts but they did!
The Old Gumbie Cat number was soo good. But that was expected from the best song in the musical. Ive already praised Munku’s actress so :o3 .The gumbie trio sounded wonderful!! But during their part they did stuff with sticks and it was definitely a bit too loud.. The guys were the mice instead of the girl kits. They made a cute little shawl for Jenny out of rope that she wore throughout the show. Rumpel and Mungo may or may not have stolen it later. The beetles tattoo was very good! I think ive already mentioned it but Munkus led most of it. Jenny did lead some of it tho. She also came in inside of a shoe-car?? Oversized light up sneaker that she was riding. Supports my hc that these cats are 3 centimeters tall.
Oki so I missed some of The RTT because im lame and I can never watch this number without looking away for a bit. Anyways, the actor was funny as hell. Made silly faces through the show. Sillabub had a “I ❤️ Tugger” cardboard sign. Very important. Bomba and Tugger were def very close. Munkus and Tugger hung out a lot too! He got a lil crown during the number from his fangirls :3 . The end bit went on for some time but it made me giggle from what I remember so it was good 👍
Bustopher Jones sounded very nice. Very jolly. Wasn’t the full song I think. Some of the cats didn’t seem to like him which lame 🙄!! (Misto and Skimble were very exited tho!). Jenny still had the crush and got a flower at the end¿. (im forgetting stuff already) Also Bustopher Jones existed outside of his song! Win for Bustopher fans everywhere.
Mungo and Rumpel were trying to be funny I think?? But a lot of it came of like those parodies of Cats. Yknow, the ones were the cat role isnt taken seriously and its like “hahah, hairballs”. Was not a fan. Hated it actually. Maybe I just hate fun idk. They were also in front being silly wayy to much. During multiple numbers. There was some dialogue at the start of their song, them asking if it was safe to come out yet instead of the usual Rumpel laughs. The two actually being scared of Mac isnt something I usually interpret, but mmm has u thinking.
Augh during one of the Scares (not sure which one) they (Deme starts and cats join in) say (not truly sing) a part of Macavity, emphasizing the hypnotizing part (foreshadowing💥). Took away some of the mystery but it didnt bother me that much. They could have made it sound better tho 😭
The Jellicle Ball choreo was a bit disappointing, but I don’t remember much uhh. The music was good tho. Misto lifted Victoria btw, if any of the 3 mistoria shippers see this.
GLAMOUR CAT REPRISE!! GLAMOUR CAT REPRISE HOW I LOVE YOU! After it I think it was just Grizz and Sillabub was there watching her from up high in the set. I dont remember if Old D stayed, but he might have.
Moments of Happiness was good I rlly liked Old Ds voice. Victoria and Jemima had a little dance at the end although this could have also happened before/during the Jellicle Ball.
Gus the Theatre cat was wonderful <33 . Such a great Jelly. One of my favorites (although I already have a lot of favorite Jellys :’3). She was sweet and her voice was nice. The number was def a bit less sad and more funny. Mmm something cute is that like 4 cats worked to place and fluff up a pillow on the hat¿ Gus sat on.
Macavity fight was very cool. There wasn’t the reveal bit. He just came in ready to fight. Demeter fought quite a bit. All the other cats (apart from Munkus [who got their ass beat like usual] and Deme) who hit Mac were all played by male actors. Munk did recover and finish it off tho (I think). Deme was also kitnapped. Definitely a suprise! There was this box they were sliding around and stuff and Mac escaped by going inside with her in it after hypnotizing her. They really played into that part. I somehow missed Old Deuteronomy being kitnapped before all this idk how.
Speaking of Macavity I loved Demeters voice. She was really good. I knew Macavity was gonna be good when I heard her in the opening number 🙏. Bomba had a deeper voice and I rlly liked the playfulness the actress brought to her. Ermm I dont remember much else.
SKIMBLESHANKS THE RAILWAY CAT was awesom. Actor was very expressive. Bustopher appears during this song. There was a bit where mungo/rumpel stole Bustophers’ watch, skimble caught them, and then Bustopher came back to get it and found skimbol with it. ‘,:-\ . Very silly I liked that part. There was also like 2 seconds of tap dancing I swear. Instant bonus points. Everybody loves Skimbleshanks for good reasons and I finally understood why.
Magical Mr Mistoffelees was fun! Its always such a happy joyful song! The Conjuring Turns!!! Holy moly. Its another experience to actually be there clapping. He first conjured up Deme at the very start and then Old Deuteronomy. They hugged a lot <33. Mr. Mistoffelees was very kittenish in this production. It was cute :o3
Memory sounded good I will not deny this! But the acting. It wasnt that emotional.. which is what I mainly like about Memory. She mostly just sung towards the audience. You didn’t really get the feeling she was angry/sad/regretful and desperate.
Grizzabella ascended on a boat. The one that is on the right of the stage in the pic.
Tumblr media
Another number my mind was changed on is Addressing of Cats. I think I mentioned it being a least fave in a ask game and yeagh. This is why Growltiger beat it for least fave song. Very awesome. A cat is not a dog.
I enjoyed it! Genuinely never thought I would see it in person until I was much older but I was proved wrong! Also the Cats brainrot was stronger in the weeks leading up to it. (good thing)
According to my mom my dumbass missed when they went through the aisles :’( . I only saw Misto bringing Old D in his arrival. Fave performers where the ones who played Munkus, Jelly, Gus, Old D, Deme and Tugger.

so i went looking through the wiki for AJ pictures since i wanted to make a design for her. and i noticed something slightly interesting:
Tumblr media
in the design for her, she has neither shoulder fluff or a warmer on her right arm.
and in a later picture, from 1997, she clearly has both fluff and warmer
Tumblr media
but in 1990 she doesn’t have the warmer but possibly the shoulder fluff.
Tumblr media
im not sure why they changed it and that's not what i want to talk about - i'm going with the original design and my own headcanons and i'm saying that when she lived with macavity her arm got burnt badly so that no fur can grow there anymore (probably by Macavity himself) and that's why she has no fluff there.

Chorzów Mungojerrie being played by a girl yet referred to as he... Trans Jerrie rights
In other interesting tidbits:
Cori and Tanto were both men (and Tanto did have a male name, Tamtamil, as opposed to when they were played as female in Warsaw under the name Tamtamila)
Happy to say they continued the SkimbleJelly tradition, and we got true Jennypher rights thanks to Bustopher not sharing an actor with any other character for once (they cuddled during Gus's song 🥺🥺🥺)
One big change - it wasn't actually Victoria who accepted Griz into the tribe, but Demeter, who all throughout the musical was the most hostile towards her. It seems she was prompted by Jemima to accept her. I'm sensing they might've gone with Griz being Demeter's deadbeat mom as the storyline.
Also Deme and Bomba had SO MUCH CHEMISTRY DURING "MACAVITY", HOLY FUCKARONI
As for the Macavity fight, Alonzo was the one to fall first, with Demeter kneeling over him to see if he was okay. Mac and Munk swordfought with fishbones for a bit. Overall, I'd say the fight gets a 8/10 for me, thank goodness they didn't include the swinging Deme around part bc I absolutely loathe it. There was this moment between Deme and Mac where he catches her arm after she attacks him and he swings at her only to hesitate after he sees it's her and caress her face instead (cementing in my head that he might not have necessarily been abusive towards her or at least that he was more of the "seemingly kind but hella manipulative" kind of abusive but that she was terrified of him regardless because he was cruel to others) then she breaks away from him.
No Tuggoffelees (also fun fact, TWO characters sang Misto's song. @per-the-jellicle-magician , our resident Warsaw expert, said it might have been Victor) BUT Tugger still gave bi king vibes anyway, getting very up close and personal with both queens and toms.

Cats Vienna, 11.06.2022
Didn’t plan to write an text today cause today was the Vienna Pride and I’m tired as fuck but some interesting things happened today. I make it short.
Carbucketty was played by Tommie Luyben. Think it was the first time for me seeing him in this role. He played him less proud and more fun than the other Carbuckettys.
After seeing the show so many times the moment when Tugger (a grown ass man in a cat suit) enters the stage and says Miau is still funny. Also: Love the choreo that the cats do during the part were Tugger would normally go into the audience. Great fan of the Vicky (Thomas) and Electra (Riddoch) interactions today during Tugger und Bustopher BFFs. Also loved how Bill (Luke) wanted to play with Jemima (Bertinshaw) at the end of the Tugger song but she ignored him and went up to Tugger to scream together with the other girls. He seemed kind of sad about it.
The last couple of times Tugger (Hees) kicked the ball in Munk’s direction (sitting on the tire. Today he had to duck. Tugger loves anoying Munk during his number.
During Bustopher Alonzo (Mandiadis) was “T-Posing” in the background. Bomba (Dam) walked up to him and he put one of is T-posing arms around her shoulder which was cute.
At the end of Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer it looked like Mungojerrie (Majert) was sheltering/protecting Rumpleteazer (Rackham) from the others.
When Old Deut enters the stage, I love how Demeter (Vazzoler) makes the most dramatic bow for him ever. She really goes down to the floor.
During the Pekes and Pollicles Admetus (Li) bumped so hard into Mungo that he lost his dog hat.
Also, at the beginning when the girls lie next to Old Deut that always reminds me of Star Wars, were Leah sits next to Jabba the Hutt, lol.
When the queens sing their short Macavity song the others leave the stage but Chorus Gus (Martin) always waits for Jelly (Obermeier), takes her hand and they leave together.
Biggest surprise today: Pas de deux today was not Admetus and Vicky but Alonzo and Vicky. Alonzo went up to her and first I was like “move, boy, the pas de deux is starting” but then he started it and I was like “ooohhh”. Maniadis covers the Admetus/Macavity role so he knows it. Don’t know why they changed it today but I liked it quite a lot. Looked interesting because Vicky is white and Alonzo is black and white.
Also, front center is always Misto and Carbucketty, usually they both do their reversed body role but today Carbucketty didn’t do it but scretched Misto’s chest before cuddeling with Rump again.
Today during Skimbleshanks Carbucketty told Electra to misbehave and he was so proud of himself that he had to tell Rumple immediatly. Also: Coricopat (Batten) copied Skimble’s movement today. He sits behind him near Old Deut. Maybe he wants to follow in his footsteps. Next year: The Railway Cat pt. 2: Coricopat. Also at the beginning of the song Rumple and Mungo craweld under Munkustrap’s legs to get to Skimble. At first he seemed kind of annoyed but then he shrugged it off.
Today for the first time during Macavity I didn’t stare at Bomba and Deme the whole time but looked at the girls dancing in the back and the choreo is really cool too. Have to look it up online or in the 1998 movie again. Really liked it.
Love how Peploe-Williams when she plays Cassandra always checks on Demeter when she’s freed from Macavity.
Normally at the end of Mistoffelees Alonzo and Admetus lift him up but today it was Alonzo and Carbucketty.
When Grizabella (Filipcic) was accepted back into the tribe, she took Demeters face between her hands and Demeter did her dramatic bow again, the same one she does for Old Deut. I really do love how Vienna plays her relationship to Munk, Griz and Mac (they get that she’s the main character, lol).
During the bows Jelly took and Rainbow Flag out with her and waved it. Very much appreciated. I like.

As we are at the last day of Tuggerulina week, this is my use of the Free Day. I thought about this scene, and left it very open in terms of relationships. I see that other users are fine with with my head canons because it creates stories. I like creating stories. As I am writing this (not the one shot below), I am currently writing little blurbs of another universe, one where there is Demerulina, Demestrap (this won't come to play until later on in it), and Bombatuggoffelees in it. They are actual cats in this, and has one of my loves in fantasy in general, magic. I love when there is magic in stories, and I intentionally have associated elements to Bombalurina, Demeter, Tugger, (and Munkustrap) in this entire week's worth of my stories. I sincerely ask to be questioned on my headcanons to make them clearer if you want.
For this, I wanted to put it later on in my human au. And yes, of course I did mention some angst. Misto is a unique character in my stories, because I've read a lot of different fanfics and see the different interpretation's. I have intentionally left the relationships for Misto and Victoria to Bomba and Demeter open because again, I create different stories involving different interpretations of relationships.
Oh, there was never a cat like the Magical Mister Mistoffelees
April 2012
As a newly turned eight year old, Michael Jacob Jellicle, or as his Jellicle name of Mistoffelees (his uncle Tugger always fully calls him the Magical Mister Mistoffelees because of the effect it gives), Misto for short, thought that he was an okay dancer, even though both his mother and aunt tell him otherwise that him and his sister Victoria were considered prodigies and him being able to do ‘The Conjuring Turn’ at his age is nothing short of a miracle. The Conjuring Turn, as Aunt Bomba explained, was something that Demeter, his mother (whether or not she was his and Victoria's biological mother, that was between her and Bomba), learned when she was 13 almost 14 and Bomba herself at that same time couldn’t even do after 10 turns back then (it has since then increased to the limit of 20 and nothing she could do to expand it despite the physical therapy she went to) before she would get sick and pass out. When he asked her why, all he got was that she got sick years ago and didn’t know the damage from it until they learned said dance and her reaction. Misto did hear her muttering about their dance teacher at the time kept on harassing her to ‘just get over it’ and she just couldn’t. When he asked about that teacher, Deme-mom explained that Nana and Pops fired her because of said harassment and pushing her physically to do the turns even though she didn’t want to. “Bomba then had a doctor’s appointment with a specialist doctor, and we found out that her sickness she had when she was little actually did give her a bit of damage to her brain, dispelling what we believed that she came out of it unscathed” Deme-mom explained softly, signing for Victoria as well, “I just turned five, and her six, when she had this sickness, and I didn’t know what was going on. I remember mom being so worried, and dad holding her when she cried. I remember Bomba in the hospital bed, asleep, with all these tubes attached to her. She looked so pale, and I remember being so pale that entire year, from being in and out of the hospital constantly. She had those weird dark spots all over her, the doctors calling them lesions. I could feel the terror coming off of mom and dad, and the nervousness of Tugger and Munk, even Mac. It was one of the few times I even saw him terrified. It felt like forever, but it was two weeks from when she entered the hospital she finally woke up. I remember dad getting a call from mom and his face lifting, like his fear was released. Once we knew that she was getting stronger and finally allowed to come home, she started to cuddle more with us, Mac being the only exception. She made sure that we knew that she loved us. Jemima gets it from her, her cuddling and expressing her love for us.”
For both him and Victoria, that story was an eye opener for them. Aunt Bomba made sure to show her love for them, being the teacher, they could learn from, and be that fun aunt with the equally fun uncle of Tugger, that terrible bore (Bomba definitely encouraged that), with the awesome cousins. Aunt Bomba loved him, and always loved to tell him the story of how she wrote his special song and gave him his Jellicle name. “You and Tori were 23 months, and I was six months pregnant with Jemima. Alonzo and Munk were helping Tugger with moving the bookcase from his workshop to Jemima’s bedroom, and Demeter was there to hang out with me, you two were playing. We were talking, and you managed to sneak away into the kitchen. We didn’t realize that you snuck off until we heard the jingling of my silverware. Demeter basically cursed under her breath and scolded you from the couch. She explained that you had this habit ever since you could walk to quietly open the silverware drawer and steal the silverware, especially her spoons. That hit me with inspiration.” Aunt Bomba said, a fond smile showing on her face, “I went a little nuts, and wrote a short ditty and a melody, which became the basis of your song. The boys were finally in the apartment, so I shouted over to Tugger about it. He loved it, and gave me the beginning of it, and declared that once again, I gave a proper Jellicle name. The rest, as we know, is history.” Giving him an affectionate ruffle of his black hair.
His song, after several refinements, was ready to be debuted at the Massachusetts State Dance Exhibition. The dance, however, was still in the refinement stage. Pops wrote the instrumental for Tori’s dance solo. He knew that his Pops and Aunt Bomba were working on the Tribe’s music, something they called ‘The Cat’s Suite,’ though they were still trying to get a proper name down, leaving it to Munku-dad and Grandpa Deuteronomy. Uncle Tugger also had a song, and he got to have a solo in it, which was so cool! Deme-mom explained that both Aunt Bomba and Uncle Tugger wrote the song around the same time both her and Bomba were learning their duet dance for the Exhibition in the duet category, along with writing Mungojerrie’s and Rumpleteazer’s song at the same time. His line was Munku-dad’s and Alonzo’s line before, and Aunt Bomba explained that she made the decision to give him the line when he joined their family as an infant. Said that it was the hilarity of it that caused her to give it to him. Now, his song was going to be sung by Uncle Tugger, and both Deme-mom and Aunt Bomba were choreographing (that’s a weird word they were using. Weren’t they teaching him to dance to it?) for it. He did know that they were drawing inspiration from their duet dance and his interest of magic tricks, so they were retrofitting his dance routine into what they had for the Cat’s Suite, which another song they wrote together. Both of them explained that they were going to lead up to his number after their Macavity number, so that they could fit what they were going for. (He knew that Plato was casted as the meanie cat because neither of them wanted to even convince the real Macavity to come to the Exhibition. Even he knew by watching Deme-mom that the meanie cat hurt her.)
So, here he was, in the same dance studio that Grandpa Deuteronomy owned, Misto was shown by Deme-mom the fouetté’s and the landing again, Aunt Bomba sitting at the piano playing her stripped-down practice version of his song. “Remember Misto, if you feel like you can’t get past Bomba’s limit, then it’s okay.” Deme-mom said, reassuring him after she performed the landing, “We can change the choreo to make it easier.”
“Anyone can get past my limit.” Aunt Bomba said from the piano, rolling her eyes.
Misto made a determined face to his mom. “I will try to do as many as I can.” He declared, making Uncle Tugger smile.
Deme-mom gave him her loving smile. “I know you will. From the top or the dance break?”
“Dance break.” Misto said, his face set. Victoria sat next to Jemima, and Charlie, otherwise known as Caramel, was sitting next to Aunt Bomba on the bench. He was stubbornly wearing the red gold tabby cat onesie Jenny made him for the Exhibition, which he loved, and Aunt Bomba had the air of ‘I don’t care what he wears as long as he is happy and comfortable.’ Deme-mom told him that he was doing the same thing Jemima and Bomba did when they were younger as well.
Aunt Bomba nodded and counted off. “Five, Six, Five Six Seven Eight.” As she started to play the dance break. Knowing what to do, he slid into the focus of his dance. He could tell that Deme-mom, Uncle Tugger, Jemima, Victoria, and Caramel were watching, but he didn’t care. He focused on his dance, the muscle memory there after both Deme-mom and Bomba worked with him. When he could hear the beginning of the section of the Turns, he went off. Knowing that he had to spot, he focused, making sure to snap his head when he needed to. He could hear the piano, and ended the turns in the landing, perfectly. The rest of them cheered, and he continued with it, Bomba’s leaps ending the dance break, and with a flourish, he ended his dance break.
“Magical!” Uncle Tugger said, ready to continue the song. Deme-mom gave Misto a questioning look, non-verbally asking if they should continue to the red sheet part, because they still haven’t figured out if it was going to be Aunt Bomba or Cassandra taking part of the trick. There was the hyper furball of Caramel they had to consider because even at three years old he was just like Tugger himself.
Misto nodded, and Bomba started playing. “Well…His Manner is vague and aloof, you think that there was nobody shyer, But his voice was heard on the roof! When he was curled up by the fire.” Tugger sang, with both Deme-mom and Bomba singing the do-wops. Victoria and Jemima joined in, pretending that they were frozen by Misto’s magic. “And he’s sometimes heard by the fire, when he was about on the roof. At least, we all heard that somebody purred, which is uncontestable proof.” Misto fake-released the magic holding his sister and cousin, them kneeling back down like the kittens they all were. He noticed that they were giggling, thinking it great fun. “Of his singular magical powers, And I’ve known the family to call, Him in from the garden for hours, While he was asleep in the hall.” Tugger jokingly looking at Demeter, knowing of all of Misto’s little quirks as a mischievous toddler to school aged that worried both her and Munk. He pulled it on Tugger and Bomba as well when they were the ones to babysit him and Victoria. “And, not long ago, this phenomenal cat, Produced seven kittens right out of a hat!” Tugger’s voice rang out the last note to the disappearing act. Bomba stopped playing, and whooped, surprising her son in the process.
“You did it, Misto!” She cheered, raising her hands in the air in triumph. “You did the Conjuring Turn!”
“And more.” Deme-mom said, coming to him and giving him a tight hug. “I am so proud of you, Michael.”
“You were amazing, little buddy.” Uncle Tugger praised, ruffling his hair.
Victoria ran towards him and gave him a big hug, joining Demeter in the hug. “You were awesome, Misto!” She said, smiling at her younger twin.
Jemima jumped around, the almost six-year-old bouncing in excitement. “Mommy, he did it! He did the Conjuring turn!” Grabbing Aunt Bomba’s shirt, making her three-year-old brother glare at her.
“Mis’o did a lot of turns.” Caramel said, making sense of it.
Aunt Bomba ruffled her son’s golden hair. “Yes, he did. Remember, you’re littler than him. The older you get and the bigger you get dancing like me and Daddy will become easier. So, Caramel, don’t try until you’re older. I will be sad if you get hurt.”
“Yea, Mommy’s right, Caramel! You and me don’t have to do Jenny’s dance because we’re little.” Jemima added, hugging her mom from behind. “I can’t change my shoes as fast as Jenny wants, so I only get to be a mouse and then watch everyone else.”
“Not exactly related, but Jemima’s right.” Aunt Bomba explained, “Took me a while too, though I wasn’t put into the Beetle’s Tattoo. I still don’t know why Noily wanted me to take her place even though she’s the same age as Jenny when I first performed it.” She muttered.
Misto turned to see that Uncle Tugger was greatly exaggerating being shot in the heart, being all dramatic towards Aunt Bomba. “Oh, your words wound me so, my love. Even when we had our first ball, the head queens saw your magnificence, your power, your passion. They wanted you to shine like the beautiful ruby you are.”
Misto could hear Aunt Bomba roll her eyes at him. “Oh, be quiet you incorrigible beast.”
“Make me.” Uncle Tugger gave her a look Misto didn’t understand.
“I hate you.”
“No, you don’t.”
“Again, with the flirting?” Deme-mom groaned, “Can we please focus on practice for the Exhibition?”
“Mom, Uncle Tugger is a terrible bore.” Misto quipped, giving Tugger a smirk. Aunt Bomba started laughing, so happy that her decision to give Misto the line was producing what she was hoping for.
Deme-mom smirked right at Misto. “I am so glad Bomba gave you the line. It was hilarious when Munk and Lonzo were given the line, and now it’s even more hilarious.”
“No respect.” Uncle Tugger said in a funny voice, making the kittens present laugh.
Only minutes later, “What are you laughing at?” Munku-dad asked, carrying multiple bags of stuff, most likely the lunches he was sent to get.
“Tugger being a terrible bore.” Both Deme-mom and Aunt Bomba said, pointing at the grinning Tugger.
Munku-dad made an ah face. “Bomba, this may have been one of your best decisions yet, giving Misto the line.”
Aunt Bomba smiled fondly at Uncle Tugger. “Of course. The Rum Tum Tugger is MY curious beast!”
~~~
If you read to the end, I thank you. As a treat for @jelliclekay, I just had to use that line for the last line. It screams Tuggerulina. And if you see the subtle reference of an old hyperfixation in Tugger's and Bomba's script, then that's who I took some inspiration for my interpretation of Bombalurina. Anyway, thank you for reading and the support this has given me. I'm more willing to share my little blurbs of the next universe later, and I will share more of my human au blabberings sometimes too.
Note
I’ve been in a Tugmeter mood so I made a new hc:
Jemima is Mac and Deme’s daughter but Tugger took her in and raised her as his own
Sillabub (I use the gold design for Jemima/SillaBub for her!) is Tugger and Demeter’s daughter and Tapper (rap Tugger) is her twin
Just think of all the shenanigans with Tapper annoying his Uncle MunkuStrap-
STOP I LOVE THIS SO MUCH 😭😭😭
Tugs and Dem with all their babies being happy THANK YOU
Tapper calls Sillabub "Bubs" and she calls him "Pat" because when they were kittens those were their first words, and they are 100% partners in crime who absolutely adore their big sister Mima 😤
those shiki siblings though 👀👀👀
Hhhh...okay...I've had these controversial thoughts for a while now but you're really egging me on to confess.
Outside of Shiki Cats...I really wish it wasn't practically canon that Tugger and Munk were brothers.
HEAR ME OUT!!!
LOOK I DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT WHAT’S CANON IN SHIKI PRODUCTIONS SO THAT’S WHY I HC MUNK MISTO AND VIC AS SIBLINGS THERE BUT LIKE...
Even in London/Broadway based productions holy shit I love the three of them WAY more than Tugger and Munk.  For all the reasons I stated in this ask about my Shiki headcanons!
And I KNOW Tugger and Munk are (pretty much) canonically brothers so let’s just call these an AU.
Like Munk Victoria and Misto almost always do the invitation to the Jellicle Ball together with Victoria doing the opening dance, Misto singing the start and Munkustrap picking up, and inviting the cats to the Ball seems like it would be the responsibility of Old D’s kids.
Munk is a no-brainer.  He assumes leadership, all the cats respect him, and he clearly has a lot of reverence and respect for Old D, and he protects the tribe from danger.  He’s the oldest sibling!!
And like I said before Misto DEFINITELY gives me middle child vibes.  He’s trying to show off all the time bc he gets overshadowed by his siblings!!!  So it means a lot to him that Tugger, who is an attention magnet, helps him sing his song!!  He’s like “I see you misto, you funky homosexual!” and Misto is like “!!!!! :D”
It also makes the stakes a lot more personal when he has to bring Old D back when Mac gets kidnapped.  Like, a lot of the time after he brings Old D back Misto just LEAPS into his arms!!!!!  He’s so happy and excited to have his dad back!!!!!!
AND MISTO IS OFTEN THE ONE TO GO RETRIEVE OLD D IN THE SONG!!  LIke alkjdslakjdladsjk Misto is so involved with everything it makes SENSE that he’s one of the leader’s kids!!  And PLUS if he’s Old D’s kid then that kind of makes sense as to where he got his magic from!!
And Victoria????  She’s a GODDAMN PRECIOUS PRETTY LITTLE PRINCESS!!!!!!  She’s so prominent in the choreography because SHE IS PRACTICALLY TRIBE ROYALTY.  She’s the darling of the Junkyard, everyone loves her.  She’s sweet and elegant and such a talented dancer.
AND AND AND!!  Okay I normally like to hc Griz as Old D’s daughter but for this AU???  No Griz is their mom!!!!  Vic goes to touch her mama!!!!!!!  And it’s so SWEET AND TENDER bc Griz remembers VIc from when she was a tiny lil baby but Vic doesn’t really remember her, that’s why she’s curious about her, but she kinda realizes who she is by the end of the show and!!!  goes to her!!!
Like Misto and Vic and Munk kinda hang out together a lot??  Munk often lifts Victoria in Jellicle Songs and in a few other times, Misto and Vic hang out together a lot, not to mention their dance together in The Invitation, and Misto is always trying to help Munk out!!!!!!!  Munk is such a good big brother who looks after his little siblings,,, and Misto is a god damn show off but he REALLY looks up to Munk and he’s so close to Vic, they’re so playful with eachother, and Victoria admires both of them so much and alksjdajdalksdkas they’re such a GOOD trio!!!!!!  Misto and Vic would gang up on Munk to mess with him and I can totally see Munk teaching Vic how to dance when she’s just learning, and hhngnnngnnngnngngngng!!!!!!!!!!  I have strong feelings!!
BUT WHAT ABOUT TUGGER???  WHAT’S HE DOING IF HE’S NOT OLD D’S SON?
First of all this makes my Jennyanydots Is Tugger’s Mom headcanon work a LOT better now that I don’t have to worry about Jenny and D’s co-parenting relationship.  So Jenny is Tugger’s mom, but she is ALSO Demeter’s mom!!  That’s RIGHT, Tugger and Demeter are siblings!  And this is @tuggoffelees ‘s idea but we were talking about it together and it fits in perfectly!!  Tugger is Deme’s annoying little brother.  He’s a loud brat child and Deme was shocked when he grew up into an actually cool adult.  But god when they were kids, Tugger had this embarrassing crush on her hot friend Bomba, and Deme gave him a lot of shit about it, but when they grew up they all thought it was funny as FUCK.  Also, Tugger is the coolest fucking uncle ever to Jemima!!
Anyways, Tugger singing Old D with Munk?  What’s that all about??  Well, he doesn’t need to be the guy’s son to respect him.  He is simply a Cool Old Dude that Tugger thinks has great vibes.  He doesn’t respect Old D cause That’s His Dad, he respect him because he is a Good and King Leader Who Deserves Respect!!!
So uh yeah those are my thoughts.................
Today at 1:00 PM EST I saw Cats the Musical at the Shubert Theater with my mom. Here’s the saga:
Tumblr media
Overture:
Mistoffelees was right next to me in the overture with glowing cats eyes and I nearly died right there.
I started crying during the overture, my mom gave me a tissue. Going great so far.
I started screaming at the end of the overture, people are starting to realize I’m a crazy person.
Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats:
Omg they’re here and they’re real and I’m here! I’m crying again.
I pointed out Cassandra to my mom as she came up the aisle. Mom is questioning why I know all the cats names.
MISTO AND TUGGER ARE CUDDLING EACH OTHER HOLY SHIT
The guy the cats call out for being surprised was right in front of me he looked So confused and scared and I was just grinning behind him.
Naming of Cats:
I’m whispering the words along with the cats. Plato made eye contact and smiled at me. I’m crying again.
Watching Victoria in the background is so much fun. She’s getting really into this.
Victoria’s Dance:
Tumblr media
Invitation to the Jellicle Ball:
Misto sneaking up on Victoria with a mischievous look in his eye is a mood.
Victoria looks so annoyed with him, they are literally me and my brother and it makes me so happy.
I love this Misto’s voice and he’s so fucking graceful and elegant and I love him!
MISTO AND TUGGER ARE DANCING TOGETHER OMG
Mungo and Rumple try to greet Munk and he rolls his eyes and tells them to go away. Jerre is very upset at this.
Gumbie Cat:
Looks like the trunk is either broken or not functioning in this space so Jenny just kinda slid out onto the top of it but she’s so beautiful so I don’t care.
Misto is being such a helpful and concerned boy whenever Jenny is around. He’s very concerned when Jenny spaces out for a solid minute.
The Gumbie trio are angels and I will take this belief to my grave.
Plato being a snarky little shit during the dance break made me laugh.
FOR SHES A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW
The Rum Tum Tugger:
He’s here and Skimble is not happy about it!
Misto and Skimble are arguing in the background. Looks like misto is saying Tugger is cute and Skimble is disagreeing.
Misto makes sure Skimble isn’t looking before joining the dance.
Skimble stop trying to pull cats away from Tugger he’s a big sexy magnet and you can’t stop those hips.
My mom is singing along, this makes me so happy.
Misto is just twitching and squealing like a kitten he loves his boyfriend so much.
Munk has given up, just rolled his eyes and walked off stage.
Skimble is now complaining to Jenny, Jenny is too busy staring at Tuggers ass to pay any mind.
Grizabella the Glamour Cat:
Oof. No one is happy rn.
George is extremely startled poor baby.
Munk is trying his best to keep Demeter away and she is not happy about it.
Bomba actually walked up with her arms extended only to hiss and scamper off at the last second. That’s cold girl.
Munk is being very protective of the cats around him. Tugger walked off and Misto ran after him.
Demeter has such a pretty voice and Bomba is so sultry and AH SHIT I’m crying again.
Platoria alert! PLATORIA ALERT!
Bustopher Jones:
Misto continuing to be an extremely helpful boy making everything glow.
The actor did a great job but I honestly prefer his Gus more but we shall get to him later.
First Macavity Scare:
AH SHIT ITS GETTING SPOOKY
Misto and Tugger reaching out to each other before running off in fear.
Bomba being the last cat onstage showing that she don’t give a damn.
Plato is protecting both Cassandra and Victoria. I’m noticing a lot of Plato and Cassandra moments and I’m not sure how I feel about that just yet.
Mungojerre and Rumpleteazer:
ENTER THE CHAOS GREMLINS!
I love them so much and they were extremely slinking baby bastards.
The cartwheel was better than my best dream I’m so happy I’m gonna cry again!!!
Munk and Alonzo ain’t too happy with their shenanigans.
Old Deuteronomy:
“Old Deuteronomy?”
Munk and Tugger duet. ;-;
Platoria cuddling. ;-;
MISTO SMILING AT ME AS HE PASSES. ;—;
Second Macavity Scare:
Everyone just fucking bolted. No protecting, no character interactions, just pure fuck this shit I’m out.
The Jellicle Ball:
This was the happiest I have been in a very long time.
The dancing was gorgeous and the character interactions are absolutley amazing throughout the entire sequence. It was truly a wonderful sight. And yes I did cry again, I’m running out of tissues.
Pas de Deux:
I love that there was no awkwardness or hesitation, just pure love and devotion and OH MY GOD HE ALMOST DROPPED VICTORIA.
Like everything was fine in the end but he visibly stumbled and old Deuteronomy looked very startled for a hot sec. Still very beautiful.
Memory:
DANGIT GRIZZABELLA I HAD JUST STOPPED CRYING!
In all honesty my favorite part was old Deuteronomy looking longingly at her in the background. He misses her so much. ;-;
INTERMISSION :3
Moments of Happiness:
Old Deuteronomy’s voice is so strong and his vibrato is simply heavenly.
Deut pats cori on the head, cori pats Jemima on the head, Jemima sings like an angel.
Look at all those angels!
Gus the Theater Cat:
Jellylorum has such a lovely voice and her gentle movements are lovely.
Gus insulting the kittens is absolutely adorable, they’re so insulted.
Gus playfully hissing at Jemima before booping her nose makes me so soft.
Cat puns making the audience laugh is always wonderful.
The Pekes and the Pollices:
Whispered to my mom before hand “get ready for some chaos”.
Winsome Chinese :3
Misto with a boot on his head is more hilarious than it should be.
Gus has such a wonderful voice and it’s very clear he’s having a blast up there.
Gus received the standing ovation he deserved. Bless that wiry cat man.
Skimbleshanks:
“SKIMBLESHANKS THE RAILWAY CAT”
Alonzo and Jenny playing cards in the background while Skimble sings has a very specific vibe to it.
Mungo is so happy to be dancing with his dad and is just running around like a kitten.
Misto has slipped away to unleash his inner laserpointer.
Macavity Kidnapping:
DEMETER IS DOWN FOLKS SHE IS OUT LIKE A LIGHT.
Munk trying to shield everyone’s eyes and accidentally looking at Macavity and passing out.
Aaaand there goes cat dad.
Macavity:
Deme baby looks so startled.
Bomba we get it you have the hots for Macavity stop biting your lip like that.
YES GURLS FUCKING WORK!!!
Macavity Fight:
Poor Munk getting thrown around like a rag doll, Plato too getting flipped over.
Alonzo like “BITCH LET GO OF MY BOYFRIENDS GIRLFRIEND!”
Mac trying to use his magic to rehypnoitize the cats and looking genuinely scared when it doesn’t work.
Black out!
Mr. Mistoffelees:
Tugger being like alright y’all shut up while I sing about my boyfriend.
PJ is so graceful and beautiful!!! His voice is also very gentle and lovely and him and Tugger being so touchy makes me so happy.
THEY HUUUGGED!!!!!
OH WELL I NEVER WAS THERE EVER A CAT SO CLEVER AS MAGICAL MISTER MISTOFFELEES?!?!! ;—;
Memory:
This was a simply gorgeous performance. This Grizabella made some wonderful character choices and there was a beautiful satisfaction when Victoria took her hand.
I did notice that even after he touched her Tugger looked very uncomfortable at Grizabella’s presence.
Journey to the Heaviside Layer:
Oh.. oh my god I didn’t realize the tire flew that high. OH MY GOD I DIDN'T REALIZE GRIZABELLA ACTUALLY FLEW AWAY.
Addressing of Cats:
Heavenly Deut voice, audience bursted out laughing at the “cat is not a dog” line and I can’t blame them. Crescendo, bows, and it’s over...
POST SHOW :O
After the show me and my mom went across the street to buy cookies and when we came out we saw them striking the set! Here’s them putting the tire in the truck! :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall this was a magical experience and you bet your sparkly ass I’ll be looking out for when the tour comes back around to me. Now if you excuse me I need to buy more tissues.
Grizabella being Munk and Tugger’s sister au
I’ve had this idea brewing in my head for a while and I’ve finally gotten the motivation to write it out. Fair warning, this whole thing is a COMPLETE mess, I have no idea where I was going with this, it got a longer than I thought it would, um, read at your own risk?
I think the “Griz is Munk and Tugger’s mom” headcanon is a neat idea, but it never vibed with me personally. For my “main” universe I see Griz as being unrelated to any of the Jellicles. However, for productions where Griz has a younger appearance (which can apply to both the pre-revival Griz design and the post-revival one), I really like the idea that she’s Old Deut’s daughter and siblings with Munk and Tugger.
Headcanons:
-She’s the eldest (of the trio at least, Old Deut has obviously had countless children in past lives, but Griz, Munk, and Tugger are his only children in this life), Munk is the middle child, and Tugger is the youngest.
-She was expected to become the next Jellicle leader. I have the feeling that the current life Old Deut is living is his last, and he feels confident in passing the role of Jellicle leader to his first born child in this current life.
-For a long time, becoming the Jellicle leader was a feeling of pride for Griz, for most of her youth she was excited to take on this role. She was confident, mature, caring, and deeply respected by the tribe, especially by her younger brothers. Simultaneously, she was laid-back, fun loving, and well, glamorous. This only earned her more respect from the tribe, she knew when to have fun, and she knew when to be serious. This is where she got her reputation as “the glamour cat.”
-During her late-teens to early adulthood is when she reached the height of her days as “the glamour cat.” It was around this time that she begun her Protector training, which was sort of like a prerequisite to her Jellicle leader training that would come later on.
-When Griz started her Protector training, she began to rethink her life goals. She was young, just a little while out of kittenhood, and she reveled in the freedom she had prior to her training. Griz had big dreams, she wanted to see the world, and suddenly she felt constrained by her obligation to stay with the tribe and complete her training. Her life felt caged, like it was all laid-out for her, she was having second thoughts about the whole “leader” thing.
-Griz was too scared to confide her doubts to anyone because she didn’t want to disappoint them or let anyone down. So she continued her Protector training, pretending like everything was fine.
-Over time, the pent up emotions in her led Griz to start resenting the tribe, she never said anything, but she grew more frustrated with them as each new day passed. The tribe started to see a change in Griz’s attitude, she became more cold and distant.
-This culminated in an argument Griz got into with Munk the day before her Jellicle leader training was going to begin (Munk is a teen at this time btw). Basically, Munk was asking what was going on with her lately, and why she had changed so much during her training. He had asked out of worry and concern, he wanted to help her. Griz snapped at him and a huge argument ensued. A lot of feelings were hurt that day, Munk didn’t know if he even knew his sister anymore, Tugger (who’s around preteen age at this time) overheard some of the arguing, and felt equally hurt by their exchange.
-The next day, the day she was supposed to start her Jellicle leader training, Griz was gone. She left without telling anyone or saying goodbye. She left to see the world and pursue fame, she walked out on them. This was a massive blow to the tribe, everyone was beaten down by it, Munk and Tugger especially so.  They had looked up to Griz, and admired her for a long time, and this event, what felt like a betrayal, was awful for the two of them. Old Deuteronomy was more worried about Griz than anything.
-Years passed, Munk took up the mantle of becoming the next Jellicle leader, he started his Protector training and was determined to pickup where Griz left off. Meanwhile, Tugger took on a very care-free and rebellious attitude.
-Jemima shows up around this time, and it isn’t realized now, but after the events of the musical it’s decided that Jemima suits the role of Jellicle leader much better than Munk. Munk, while responsible, takes on far too much stress from the job, so he remains a Protector and storyteller.
-Everything started out great for Griz, she was free from her responsibilities and nothing could hold her back now.  After a few years, however, it started to fall apart. She fell on hard times and wound up on the street, completely alone. She had too much pride, too much shame, to return to the tribe just yet, so she remained on the streets for a while.
-The events of the musical happen. Griz shows up after she finally gets over herself, it’s been roughly ten years since she left. Everyone’s on edge, the only one who had seen Griz prior to her return is Demeter, who encountered Griz on the streets many times in the past, and it’s only her, the kittens, and Old Deut who show her any empathy.
-After the final Memory, Griz is forgiven and welcomed back to the tribe. I haven’t fully decided yet whether Griz should be reborn or stay with the tribe. I’m leaning towards staying with the tribe, because it’s a neat idea that I want to play around with. Griz mending her relationships with the other tribe members and her direct family would take a lot of time, and her getting back into the swing of her old life is an interesting concept, there’s just so much good material in that setup that I want to explore, I’m just trying to decide whether I want to differentiate it from this au or not.
Extra stuff for this au:
The idea that I was trying to get across with this, is that everything came down to a lack of communication. In reality, no one was ever pressuring Griz to become the leader, if she had said something, the tribe would have supported her decision, but on the other hand no one ever asked her how she felt about it either. It’s the lack of discussion from both ends that causes the misunderstandings and tension, and eventually the falling out.
As an aside, this whole thing is apart of my “idiot universe.” To briefly explain, I have three distinct Cats universes, (which may or may not have been created for the sole purpose of having all my ships be canon, don’t judge me), they’re all separated by how Macavity is characterized. Universe one is my “main” universe, where Macavity is his typical self, universe two is the “redemption” universe where Macavity is less awful and gets redeemed, and universe three is the “idiot” universe where Macavity is just a dumbass who doesn’t pose a threat to anyone. He’s still a criminal, but only moderately worse than Jerrie and Teazer. So yes, this Griz sibling thing is in the “idiot” universe.
If any of you are more interested in the three universes Mac’s, here’s a full post on it from like two months ago, it’s pretty shit and there are some things I’ve changed my mind about since then, but it still has some nice details. It’s also from before I had all these followers, so I was still posting to the void lmao. Also, that post was from before storyweaverofgondor made that excellent post explaining Mungocavity, so I was just throwing ideas against the wall for the pairing and trying to come up with a ship name XD. I’m so glad her post made the pairing a bit more popular because I thought I was doomed to be alone in shipping it lol.
I’ve really been liking the “Tugger and Demeter are siblings” idea thanks to return-of-the-skimbly and thepansexualspoon, and I kinda want to incorporate it into one of my universe’s somehow, but I haven’t decided which one. I also can’t decide if I’d still have Munk as their sibling too if I went that route, but I know for sure that it won’t be in my “main” universe because of Demebombastrap. I’ve been thinking about putting it in the “idiot” universe, in which case I’ll have to edit some of the headcanons in this post. In fact, I’ll probably need to make a separate post explaining Deme’s whole side of it if I do that. *Sigh* there’s just too many fun ideas to work with!
This is me *not so subtly* sliding into your Inbox to ask more about your Speakeasy AU - you had mentioned characters having certain jobs based on archetypes/roles; would you be able to give us more in regards to what the rest of them do as well? (I'm also interested in the bit you talked about regarding their backgrounds, or where they were before the AU!)
Yes, I can totally talk about everyone’s jobs!!
First, there are the littles (AKA kids under 10), which for now consist of Jemima, Pouncival, and Tumblebrutus. Electra and Etcetera might also end up falling under this category, but I’m not sure what to do with them yet.
Old Deuteronomy owns a secondhand story officially called The Jellicle Ball but lovingly referred to by the community as The Junkyard. It has everything one could ever want, from garden tools to antique books to furniture to things you didn't even know you needed until he hands it over to you with a wink and a smile.
Munkustrap sometimes works the register, but he also moonlights as a sort of investigator for the neighborhood — he's not a hired gun, but he will certainly help track down a missing pet or stolen items. Mostly, he keeps tabs on Macavity, who runs a crime ring reaching far and wide across the city. Macavity also owns a range of various illegal businesses from brothels to speakeasies (in fact, the only semi-popular bar that he doesn't own is Deme and Bomba's, a fact he's not too happy about). Munk is also raising Jemima, his niece (Mac's daughter), ever since she was left on his doorstep. Plato is Munk's apprentice, although he's often too busy herding his little brothers Pounce and Tumble to pay much attention to what's going on.
Bustopher Jones is a wealthy expatriate from England who lives in a rather expansive house (for the city, at least). He was involved in some war in his past, although which one, what branch of the military he worked for, and what he actually did are much harder to pin down. He's retired now, and mostly spends his days as a socialite going out with his friends (including Old Deut) and donating to various projects throughout the neighborhood. When he came to the States, he brought Jennyanydots along with him as his long-time housekeeper. Her two kids, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, are technically Bustopher's wards, but they don't listen to him (or their mother) much at all, preferring to spend the remainder of their teenage years refining their breaking-and-entering skills.
Jellylorum and Asparagus run the Queen Victoria Theatre after taking over the reins from their dad, Gus. He used to own many more theatres in both the US and UK after a long and varied career as an actor himself, but myriad accidents and bombed shows have forced the family to give up all but this one. It's sometimes hard to balance the budget, but the community helps the best they can (especially Bustopher, who insists that the siblings are the only ones in town keeping the British theatre tradition alive).
The Magical Mr. Mistoffelees (AKA Quaxo) is a stage magician who has a running show at the Queen Vic. It's not enough to get by on, so he shares an apartment with his sister Victoria, a ballet dancer, and Cassandra, a contortionist who works as his stage assistant. Recently, two of Cassandra's old friends from the circus, Coricopat and Tantomile, have moved to town, so they're staying there for the time being as well. During the day while everyone else is out, they do tarot and palm readings at the kitchen table. (Whether or not Misto and the twins actually have mystical abilities is still under consideration.)
And, last but not least, Skimbleshanks is a local trolley car engineer. No big backstory, he's just a simple railway cat. :)
(Any character I didn't mention here I still haven't decided what to do with yet. I'm also thinking about adding my and/or other people's OCs to fill out the background characters!)
A Jellicle Halloween Sneak Peak
An: Hey Guys I have a treat here for my readers and fellow Cats Musical Fans. Since it’s October I’ve been feeling very spooky so I made a short story of how I think the Jellcile cats spend Halloween. unfortunately the story will be quite long with musical sections where I write an entire musical choreography like in the musical, and that is what I have for you today this is my rendition of the Cats singing This is Halloween.
Macavity, Munkustrap and Rum Tum Tugger smirks together as the girls give them some space “show time” Tugger says as Mac controls the fire and blows out the candles, it happened so suddenly the kittens couldn’t help but cry and Scream, Misto grew worried about Victoria and leapt over to protect her as the kittens all huddle in the center of the yard. The darkness didn’t last long as soon a spotlight seemed to come from the moon and shine down on Macavity as he stood menacingly on the tire “Toms and Queens of every age Wouldn't you like to see something strange?” He sang to the group as a second spotlight hits Munkustrap as he stands proudly on top of the oven, making Tantomile, coricopat and Exoctica turn and look at him. “Come with us,” he sings and a third spotlight hits Rum Tum Tugger standing majestically on the chair “,and you will see This, our town of Halloween” Munk finishes. “This is Halloween, this is Halloween Pumpkins scream in the dead of night” Tugger sings then the brothers share a look and together they pounce, leaping into the pile of Kittens and making them scatter to the adults of the group, the rule of Halloween feast is that you never join another cat’s song unless you are asked to or like what Macavity will do, are gestured to join. Munk, Mac and Tugger stalk forward as they sing the next line “This is Halloween, everybody make a scene Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright!” the brothers stop and swipe their claws to both sides and then at the sky to the ground and finish by spreading their arms wide “It's our town, everybody scream In this town of Halloween”. At the last line Munk and Tugger bow down and circle Mac as he takes control of the kittens moving his left paw up making Pouncival stand and sing “I am the one hiding under your bed Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red” he emphasised his teeth and eyes and Mac then moved his right paw and Etcetera follows with “ I am the one hiding under yours stairs Fingers like snakes and spiders in my mane” she couldn’t help giggling as she shook her mane pretending spiders were there. The others were enjoying the song and nods their heads in rhythm as Pounce and Cettie move forward to stand behind Mac as he dance as they followed as he was the puppet master twirling out of the light “ This is Halloween, this is Halloween Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!” they sang before the spotlight moved to Tugger laying seductively by Bomba, Deme and Electra and he orchestrated them to sing “In this town we call home Everyone hail to the pumpkin song” Munk jumps onto the other junk wall and moves gracefully to Bustopher Jones and pulled him up “In this town, don't we love it now? Everybody's waiting for the next surprise” Bustopher sung as the brothers joined each other again on the boot of the car “Round that corner, man hiding in the trash can Something's waiting now to pounce, and how you'll…” Tugger leaps over to Alonzo, Cass and George and they each took their turn to sing “Scream!” “this os halloween” “red’n’black” “and slimy green”. Mac turned to the group of four elderly cats “aren’t you scared?” he asked them and the toms shook their heads as Jenny and Jelly duets “Well, that's just fine Say it once, say it twice” Skimble and Asparagus Jnr took over “Take a chance and roll the dice Ride with the moon in the dead of night” they looked at the full moon on that line and Mac continued to scare the kittens away “Everybody scream, everybody scream” Munk and Tugger backed him up “In our town of Halloween!” Mac jumped to stand over the group as he used his magic to bring the psychic twins up “I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace” they each sang one line and then Mac pulled up Electra and Jemima making them move as if they were being blown away by the wind “I am the "who" when you call, "Who's there?" I am the wind blowing through your hair”. Then Mac pulled up Victoria infront of him, she was a special case since she doesn’t have a voice so Mac controlled her to lip sing “I am the shadow on the moon at night Filling your dreams to the brim with fright” instead of Tugger throwing his voice they heard a haunting female voice sing the line in sync with Victoria, thinking nothing of it they continue and without notice a shadow jumps to the chair. Mac, Munk and Tugger flipped and walked on their toes to the front and posed Menacingly as they sing “This is Halloween, this is Halloween Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!” at each Halloween the older cats joined increasing the volume of the lines, the kittens then sing as they crawled forward, Jemima, Electra and Cettie moving to lay between each of the brother’s legs “Tender lumplings everywhere Life's no fun without a good scare” Jerrie and Teazer did they famous duel multi flip in front of the brothers singing “ That's our job, but we're not mean In our town of Halloween”. “In this town” Bustohoer sang and then didn’t want Gus to miss out pulled him up too “Don't we love it now? Everyone's waiting for the next surprise”. Then the others moved forward as Munk and Tugger jumped from side to side, careful of the kittens and Mac flips backwards and the queens take his place “Reaper Mac might catch you in the back And scream like a banshee Make you jump out of your skin This is Halloween, everybody scream” Tugger and munk say and the kittens screamed scattering once more away as the others lay their right paws over their heart “Won't ya please make way for a very special guy?” Tugger sings turning to gesture to the center before noticing Misto was there and pulled him down to sit by his side “Our man Mac is King of the Pumpkin patch Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King now!” Munk continues and Mac makes the group disperse back to their original spots as he walks forward with pride “This is Halloween, this is Halloween Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!” he sings and the kittens crawl forward again, Munk and Tugger kneel down looking t Mac as they sing “In this town we call home Everyone hail to the pumpkin song” the kittens all get up and hold hands surrounding the three and prancing around them and Munk and Tugger provided their back up “La, la, la, (Halloween! Halloween!) La-la-la, la, la (Halloween! Halloween!) La-la-la, la, la, (Halloween! Halloween!) La-la-la, la-la-la, hey!”
At the final line everyone broke apart laughing and giggling as they all praised and greeted the brothers.
