Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by the stream with me and @nicholaskole earlier, y'all were so lovely and I DEFINITELY was not expecting to go for five hours!! Very thrilled to come away from this with my eel-son and my attempt to ape Nick’s style with my own rock-based Jellysona :D

Bought Nicholas Kole’s amazing art book and got super inspired, so here’s what I think Trixie would look like if she lived in the Jellybots universe. The art book comes with a tutorial on how to draw the jelly from Jellybots, which was really helpful while I was working on this.

Inktober #2 - Murphy and Kendra

For those who don’t know, there is a most excellent comic project being put together by one Mr. Nicholas Kole called Jellybots. Without getting too complicated for this short post, it is based around school kids who operate high-tech machinary combined with semi-sentient jelly creatures that can come in all shapes and sizes, based on the kids’ imaginations. (That doesn’t nearly do it justice, but I’m trying here. XD) For those who already know what Jellybots IS, here’s the bio of my above-depicted fancharacters, Murphy and Kendra:

Kendra is a Sophmore at Frontier Academy. Fascinated with exploring the Soup and frustrated by the teachers’ safety restrictions (sensible though they may be), she designed modifications for her pangolin jelly in order to give her better protection from the many dangers and unknowns. Dubbing him Murphy, after Murphy’s Law - “If anything can go wrong, it will (so be prepared!)” - she can now trek safely through many of the permitted areas of the Soup. The protective ‘scale’ pieces provide constant front and back protection and can shift to create a solid barrier against attack, and the claws can be used both in offense and for digging. (I did a terrible job drawing the Defense Mode example, please ignore that.)

Just to reinterate, Jellybots is NOT MINE; these are purely fan characters. And boy were they fun to design! =D Go check out more Jellybots on Nicholas’s DA or at his Patreon!

Time traveller from the past: Wow, so this is the future, huh? Pretty impressive. What else have you got here?

Modern person: Oh, we've got tons of cool stuff! Handheld supercomputers, holograms, virtual reality, jellybots, self-driving cars-

TT: Wait, hold on, what did you just say?

MP: Self-driving cars?

TT: No, before that.

MP: ... Handheld supercomputers?

TT: No, that robot thing you mentioned!

MP: Oh, jellybots? Yeah, they're basically jellyfish cyborgs that help us explore the ocean.

TT: .....

TT: WHAT!?

The majority of the ocean is unexplored by humans, but a small device could turn moon jellies into bio-hybrid robots that do the exploring for us.
