Obscure Far Cry Promos and Content

I'm a big far cry fan, which means I have to make my own food in this economy. But sometimes I just want some ACTUAL canon or canon-ish or even just canon-adjacent content, y'know? It has gotten to the point I go into youtube rabbit holes or watch a remarkably below average hallmark movies for 5 minutes of an actor's screentime to hopefully hear Jason or Ajay or whoever talk. And so in these quests, I've found a couple obscure promos. Gonna compile them here for myself mostly :)

not gonna put in FC6 stuff because they're actually very easy to find! lots of trailers and mocaps and interviews on youtube :) Far Cry 6 actually has a more obscure lore in their comics

Far Cry: Esperanza's Tears comic // this is a Juan-centric prequel comic that features a completely new country, lore about Far Cry universe's political landscape, and lots of cameos from 3-6's characters! very interesting read especially if you're a sucker for backstories like me

Far Cry: Rite of Passage comic // this is more popular as it features Anton telling Diego the backstories for 3-5's villains.

There is also a book titled The Official Far Cry Survival Guide written by a fictional character called Hunter Nash, who supposedly grew up with Hope County-level of a doomsday prepper dad and winds up as a journalist who travels to the locations of 3-6 and wrote how to survive each location accordingly. It's adorned with official artwork of the games and plenty of survival tips. Not much lore-wise, but cool nonetheless! it also fuels my co-workers au ideas but that's personal.

i have actually found stuff like a really old MTV show called Undressed with Gianpaolo Venuta where he uses his Jason voice for his character, and how Patrick Kwok-Choon, the new voice actor for Ajay does voice acting in Thomas the Train Engine and Paw Patrol, and an indie movie with Greg Bryk where he wears fun sunglasses like Joseph, but that's neither here nor there to the franchise, so eh. // i'll edit this post if i find more, so maybe check back sometimes!

In the shower today, I was making a mental tally of the "most commonly occurring NASCAR quotes" in the groupchat, and somehow Erik Jones is the subject of 50% of them. I don't know why, because it's not out of any true enmity against Erik Jones, but that makes it even funnier to me. 😂

I also couldn't tell you why it's *these* quotes that get the primetime, but it does suggest that JGR is the only NASCAR team that has ever mattered and will ever matter.

Our top quotes are:

1. "meaningless" - Denny Hamlin, Indy 2018

#meaningless is an all-purpose quote we use when someone otherwise irrelevant to the race impacts a race win. In the original use case it was Denny Hamlin losing to Brad Keselowski after a caution brought out by Landon Cassill and Jeffrey Earnhardt, but we will use it on anyone, regardless of whether they're a backrunner or not.

Denny is a gem. Nay, an entire mine!!

2. "we lost Erik" - Joe Gibbs, ????????

(This is only an excerpt of the many we lost eriks)

I'm PRETTY sure this was Joe Gibbs in reference to Toyota attempting team orders at a drafting track (this has never gone well for them), but we don't even know which race this is from. But we say it all the time???? In reference to Erik Jones and also pretty much anyone else. Regardless of who it's in reference to, though, it's always "we lost Erik." Easily the most random quote on this list, because it's just something Joe Gibbs happened to say during an on-track interview--I assume during a yellow or red flag.

3. "the 2017 version of Erik Jones" - Kyle Larson, Michigan [2] 2018

This is also all-purpose, but I think it's become part of our lexicon based purely on the fact that it is so incredibly weirdly specific?

Which in the last few years is something I've come to associate with Kyle Larson. Usually it's about weirdly specific recollections of his own races, but at least in those cases it's his own race, so I guess that makes sense. (Though I do not remember anything *I* do.) But then sometimes he'll just randomly say something weirdly specific about someone else's race, and it's like, why do you know that? why do you remember that??

Like, someone asked Bubba what his best race of 2022 so far was, and even before Bubba could answer KL was like, "Michigan!!!" so fast it was like he was participating in some kind of game show. Fam, I was at that race in person, I love Bubba, and even *I* didn't remember what Bubba's Michigan was like. (But apparently he finished P2!)

We made race ducks this weekend!!

I made a 2018 #42 Clover duck, and @the-kings-tail-fin made a 2021 #24 Axalta duck! (Ignore the fact that this Camaro duck says ZR2 instead of ZL1. @the-kings-tail-fin drives a Colorado ZR2 and I GOT CONFUSED. ToT)

At the 2018 Roval, the #42 Clover car made it into the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Cup playoffs against despite looking like... well, that, because 1) Jimmie overdrove the final corner and spun himself out, along with MTJ; 2) Jeffery Earnhardt couldn't get his car re-fired; and 3) Kyle Larson completed his lap ahead of Jeffrey Earnhardt by bouncing the basically non-running Clover car off the wall and using the momentum to somehow cross the line:

Hero car. And now, a hero duck. <3

This is not the first time this has come up in my life, and likely won't be the last, but I am physically incapable of drawing the Chevy logo.
