The “Telephone Sheep” by German artist Jean Luc Cornec, originally exhibited in the Museum für Kommunkation in Frankfurt.
The sheep have become something of a “signature” for their creator, going viral across the web since they first appeared, unfortunately without credit or web links.
Jean Luc Cornec talks about the installation here on his web site https://www.jeanluc.cornec.de/tribut-telephon-sheep
“My work process consists of a playful combination of elements, objects, words and letters,” he explains, “a play on concepts and perception. Upon the first view, these grey telephones – today out of use – don’t have anything to do with the head of a sheep.
“How the exact association came up is difficult to say but it simply fell into place when I realised that the telephone cables could be used as wool and the handset as feet. It is only in the combination of all these elements and the creation of individualistic sheep using standardised material that the idea displays its full appeal.”
There’s a short video of the installation at the Museum für Kommunkation here https://youtu.be/Fmp1FyRnAHY
