“For dessert, the bride and groom cut into a three-tier cake with lemon raspberry filling, which was served alongside cupcakes. One of Jana's brother-in-laws served as emcee during the post-wedding festivities and hosted interactive games and activities for guests. After heartfelt toasts, the newlyweds shared their first dance before Jana tossed her bouquet into the crowd.”
A DANCE.
(I haven’t kept up with the Duggar weddings since…Joy’s? so I don’t remember if there’s been dancing)
I really want to know what the “post wedding festivities” were like I hope that’s code for more dancing beyond the listed “games and activities”
You know that's a good question. For the Duggars specifically, I know many of them have been seen dancing at other weddings, Joy, John David, Abbie, Katey, Esther, Jeremy, etc. And Joy and Austin also took a dance class for a date night once (FSU says JD and Abbie went with them) but I don't think any of them have talked about dancing at their own weddings. Carlin Bates/Stewart famously had a first dance with her dad at her wedding, and I think that kind of opened the floodgates for other Bates kids to do so later, but if the Duggars had followed suit they've been way quieter about it. -
I know lol 34 in the grand scheme of things is so young. At 34, Jana's mom still had almost a decade left of having babies lol, not saying that's what Jana should do, just that it feels so silly to act like she's geriatric or something and that getting married and having a family isn't a realistic possibility at her age. -
Lauren was the one who got a lot of shit for her dress being "plain". I didn't mind it, I thought it was way prettier before she did all the modesty alterations though. And iirc, she also chopped the long sleeves off at a t-shirt length which was certainly a choice, but it was fine (I think Anna is the only other one who added the t-shirt sleeve alterations like that). I didn't find Jana's dress to be plain at all though, it was definitely simple and classic but thank god she chose to avoid the obnoxious modesty alterations because that vibe really worked for her. Hers might be my new all-time favorite dress.
#multiple asks#jana duggar#jana wissmann#now don't come for me but if it were me i might've done something different with jana's hair. but it still looked great

It was 2007, and Tia had lived for nearly 15 years in an increasingly fundamental Christian marriage. By the time she worked up the courage to escape, they were living in an unheated, isolated urban homestead in Tennessee – and her controlling spouse was forcing her to obey orders while calling him “my lord.”
The story began far more benignly, with Tia and her parents joining a megachurch in Florida when she was an adolescent. There she was introduced to families following the Gothard movement, a fundamentalist ideology and way of living that was the brainchild of American minister Bill Gothard. The increasing number of Gothard families within her First Baptist congregation promoted homeschooling and could be spotted because the “women dressed like prairie wives, always pregnant and holding a baby,” she writes in her book.
Tia gave birth to five children – including baby Clara, who was born with a heart defect and survived just weeks – as Allan moved the family to more and more conservative congregations. Many fellow congregants were adherents of the quiverfull theology, which encourages large families and forbids any type of birth control or family planning.
“I see the trap,” she tells The Independent. “I see the lifestyle that is so all-encompassing that you can’t get out of it. I see the systematized denial of agency and options so that you might wake up one day and want to be out of it, but you’ve closed door after door after door so that there’s no one there to help you. There’s not a bank account to turn to. There’s no agency to just start asking questions or to change your life, if you decide you want something different." It’s a movement that’s deliberate and strategic, dating back decades and beyond, and she says it’s chilling to hear echoes of proclamations made from pulpits during her childhood in the words of influential politicians today – “especially when JD Vance opens his mouth,” she says. [...] The talking points are all there, Tia says. “They are often divorced from the theology that fed them, and I think that’s for a mass audience – but that’s also a good opportunity for someone who comes from that background to say, I know why they are teaching that, and I know what they intend to accomplish with it.” While she watched the mass popularity grow of reality shows featuring families like the Duggars, where she recognized tell-tale Gothard fingerprints, Tia was caught off-guard by the latest pop culture fad across TikTok and Instagram. “Maybe [the trad wife social media movement] speaks to … the very clear binaries of the gender roles, easy answers, the simple formulas,” she tells The Independent. “Sometimes it can just be comforting to watch, because we like process videos and we like pretty aesthetics, and we can tend to think it’s benign and that it’s not part of something greater." “Patriarchy needs women to perpetuate it, so it grooms our participation, and then it holds us there with the guilt of our complicity, and then we become perpetrators. So it’s like the cycle that just keeps going."
please reblog this version of this article with context and without the derailing so as to give this incredible woman and her extremely important message the platform she deserves

Photo's of Joy from last night, monday night, that's family night for the Duggars. Jed were clearly there. I think I see Nathan Bates in the lights standing with John-David next to him. I think Ben is the one standing with a drink in his hand, and Jesse the one sitting in a chair in the screenshot featuring Nathan&JD. Not sure who the two girls are sitting next to Jed. And who is the blond standing in the light with a child on her hip?
And at who's place they are. It's not Joy's house, she doesn't have a fence, right? And not the big house

Gracie Duggar Birth Special
I really have to say that I thought this was beautifully filmed. Better and more personal and special than the last birth specials. I liked the photo montage with the black and white photos instead of actually filming the birth.. and John’s video was a cute idea, JoKen and JB and Michelle actually seemed kind of genuine and authentic? Maybe Counting On got a new director/producer.. hoping for a better and less formulaic and boring show next season haha.

John Asked, Abbie Said “Yes”!
...Let’s Take A Look At Their New Data!
Received 16 Asks about this! Sorry it took me so long to write up the Post. (It has been a long week at work!) I won’t be screen–shotting every Ask I got, but I saw and appreciated them all, really!
Data after the jump.
When Did JAbbie Begin Courting?
We’re aren’t 100% Certain about this, but, until further notice, Duggar Data will be using May 6, 2018. (Click here for my explanation!)
When Did John Propose?
Again, we aren’t 100% Certain. What we know is that they announced on July 25, 2018, right after a major event in Abbie’s hometown—the annual Stratford, OK Peach Festival. On average, Duggars wait 4 Days to announce a proposal, and the Peach Festival was 4 Days before John + Abbie announced... So, I’m going to be using July 21, 2018, until further notice.
(Sidenote—If there’s really some reason to think John + Abbied waited 3 Days to announce, please let me know! I see this floating around as a rumor.)
Was Their C.S. Short, Long, or What?
If JAbbie courted from May 6, 2018 to July 21, 2018—as I’ve estimated—they courted for 76 Days (10 Weeks, 6 Days). Previously, the typical Duggar would court for 147 Days, with a SD of 102 Days. (So, there was a 68% Chance of a Duggar Couple courting for 45—249 Days.) John + Abbie courted for 71 Days Less than Duggar–typical, or Mean–0.70 SDs. Factoring in JAbbie’s new data, Duggar–typical is now 138 Days, with a SD 98 Days, and a 68% Range of 40—236 Days.
Here’s the Duggar Couples to date, in order of courtship length—
Josiah + Lauren ~48 Days (c. 1–6–18 to c. 2–23–18)
Jinger + Jeremy 65 Days (5–21–16 to 7–25–16)
John + Abbie ~76 Days (c. 5–6–18 to c. 7–21–18)
Joseph + Kendra 80 Days (3–7–17 to 5–26–17)
Jill + Derick 127 Days (11–22–13 to 3–29–14)
Josh + Anna ~159 Days (c. 1–16–08 to 6–23–08)
Joy + Austin ~213 Days (c. 8–1–16 to 3–2–17)
Jessa + Ben 339 Days (9–9–13 to 8–14–14)
Will Will They Tie The Knot?
Currently, the typical Duggar marries 97 Days after getting engaged; however, it varies by a SD of 17 Days. Thus, there’s a ~68% Chance that a Duggar Couple will marry 80—114 Days after getting engaged, and ~95% Chance that they will marry 63—131 Days after getting engaged. Using July 21, 2018 for the date of John’s proposal, and assuming the couple marries on a Friday or Saturday, the data gives us the following wedding dates—
Very Early (~63 Days) September 22, 2018
Early (~80 Days) October 12, 2018
Average (~97 Days) October 26, 2018
Late (~114 Days) November 10, 2018
Very Late (~131 Days) November 30, 2018
When Will Duggar–Burnett #1 Arrive?
If John + Abbie follow the current Duggar trend, they’ll welcome their Firstborn 367 Days after marrying. Adding 367 Days to the wedding dates above, here’s the potential DOBs—
Very Early September 24, 2019
Early October 14, 2019
Average October 28, 2019
Late November 12, 2019
Very Late December 2, 2019
How Many Children Will They Have, Total?
As of right now, the Predictor says 9 Children! (The earlier engagement did not change the total number.)

what do you think would happen if one of the duggar children were gay? i sincerely hope none of them are, because they wouldn't be fully accepted and i know from experience that that's hell, but do you think they'd be disowned or what? i just keep thinking that at least one of them must be, because out of 22 i don't think it'd be possible for them to all be cishet, but i could be (i hope) i'm wrong. sorry for the random question, i was just thinking about this.
I think they’d send them to an intense conversion camp until they felt so guilty they decided they weren’t gay after all and they were just confused. A lot like what they did to Turd only being gay isn’t wrong and being a child molester is.John David is probably gay. He has a lot of mannerisms and there’s certain quips between Jim Bob and him that make me think so. I wish I could remember specifics but it was from many seasons ago. Honestly, I don’t think they’d ever come out. David Waller and Brandon Keilen are as queer as a three dollar bill and they’ll never admit it. It’s the kind of shit that comes out when they’re 40 year old Republican men running for office and they have a night with a male hooker and do a bunch of drugs because they’ve suppressed their sexual feelings for so long.

I def don’t prefer using Pickles as a source of Duggar info, but I check occasionally and sometimes she notices things I missed — like Abbie being one of the nurses in present at Joy’s birth (which has now been edited out of the birth vlog). Go Abbie, working outside the home!!
Yea Abbie's been a working nurse since before she and JD got together I believe. Theirs was one of the last televised weddings and I remember her making a point to mention that she'd continue working after marriage and kids.
For the Duggars that's like unheard of so, good for her.

It’s interesting to me that the only siblings who commented on Joe/Kendra’s family pics so far are Jill and JD... the ones who have arguably spoken out against josh more “harshly” than the rest of his siblings.

Ugh, the fundies continue to just be the most hypocritical, self-aggrandizing, self-important and completely unable to accept any viewpoints or styles of living that aren’t theirs as valid assholes. It’s so easy to get wrapped up a bit in the nice Sunday family pictures and more progressive seeming quotables and stylish baby room pictures, and then you get information like the way they behaved in the Bahamas, basically taking over the airstrip, lying about having diplomatic papers allowing them to do so, intimidating by open carrying and generally behaving like dicks to everyone while portraying themselves as sefless white saviours, actually using the word ‘deployed’ to describe their weird proselytizing-focused mission work. And it’s not a surprise, at all, but you forget because they slap such a nice coat of paint on their ugliness. And I’m sorry to tell you world, but your favorites JD and Jana are some of the worst of them.
