Today's August 26th task for #jcfaugust is to share something #throughthewindow. The first two photos were taken just 35 minutes apart, at 4:24p and 4:59p respectively, and show the power of a cloud. ☁️😊 . . . . The first photo shows a squirrel and quail (Gambel's Quail) at our quail block. The second photo has a rabbit with the quail at our quail block. 😍❤😍 . . . . The third photo shares the books I'm reading today with my Max and a view out the window. Unfortunately, this photo couldn't be zoomed in to hide all of the many spots on our window. Oopsie. 😲😊❤ . . . . I've already completed today's allotment of The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson for @meltotheany's buddy read, and I'm now reading Blood and Sand by C.V. Wyk. Blood and Sand is the last book I need to complete my second tier N.E.W.T.s. Both of the books are in Photos Three and Five. 😍❤ . . . . Only Photos Three and Four have my Max in them. All of the book photos are meant to show Blood and Sand's cover. I think this is a foiled book. But I AM ready for fall! So ready! Cooling temperatures, color changes, Thanksgiving, my birthday. . . What's not to look forward to? 😄❤ . . . . Today's August 23rd task for #jcfaugust is to share a #treasurechest. I can't remember if I've shared this box or not, so here it is, again (possibly)! 😊😍❤ . . . . What's in this "treasure chest"? Turn to Photo Two! 😍❤ . . . . SHELLS! Lots and lots of shells from @_theopaque_! THANK YOU! 😍❤😍 . . . . I think I bought and received this box in July. If this is the first time I'm sharing it, I'm sorry! I really love all of these shells, especially the conch shell I uncovered! Photo Three shares this conch shell with my Max, and Photo Four shares it with the print book I am reading. 😊😍❤ . . . . I am also still reading The Darkest Promise by Gena Showalter. Today's August 22nd task for #jcfaugust is to share something #caughtintheact. The above photo shares two images of my Max "caught in the act": In the one on the left, I caught him in the act of searching behind a cupboard-thing for lizard invaders. Luckily, none were there today. 😊😍❤ . . . . In the photo on the right, Max ran off with his Grandma's napkin and I caught him in the act of tearing it to shreds and eating it. 😲❤ . . . . And the book I'm #CurrentlyReading is in the frame of the left photo. I read 35% of The Darkest Promise by Gena Showalter on Monday the 20th, 0% of it yesterday (😣), and today I'm hoping and planning to finish it. I'm already at about 65% through it, and it's not even 4:00p here! 😄🎉❤ . . . . I'm really enjoying The Darkest Promise, but I'm sort of regretting starting with book 13 in the Lords of the Underworld series. I just met some of the other Lords and their partners. Today's August 21st task for #jcfaugust is to #BurnBright. So I lit my Unicorn candle from @fragrant_jewels and photographed it - burning brightly! 😄😍 - with the two books I read today. Fables Vol.10: The Good Prince (228 pages) by Bill Willingham and Mark Buckingham will be finished today, and I read the first three chapters (57 pages) in The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson earlier this afternoon. 😊😍❤ . . . . Max is also in the first photo, but since he had to be cropped out to get the books in the photo, I took a second photo just of him. 😊😍❤😍 . . . . And I'm buddy reading The Traitor Baru Cormorant in a read-along with @meltotheany! I'm so excited to finally be reading a book with her, and this one is off to an intriguing start! 😄😍🎉❤ . . . . Lastly, turn to Photo Three to see the candle when first lit. I got lucky with the first pic; had to turn my phone away from it, then move it back and snap the camera *quick!* to get the first photo. Today's August 17th task for #jcfaugust was to share something celebrating #fandomfriday. I finished Kill the Farm Boy by Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne over 15 minutes ago (at 11:30p) and loved it, so my "fandom" is about Gustave and the Tales of Pell! Only, please exclude Flesh Honey from the celebration (🤢). 🤣❤ . . . . And the great photo above is from the feed of @kevinhearne on July 25th. It shares a fabulous crocheted or knitted version of Gustave the Billy Goat! 😍❤😍 . . . . Today's August 16th task for #jcfaugust was to share a #QualityCharacter. For characters of truly EXCEPTIONAL quality, I present to you Kill the Farm Boy by Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne! Some of them are even good guys! 😉🤣😍❤ . . . . I am really loving this book. Sadly, I'm not yet halfway through it, though I started it yesterday (😭). I'm going to switch now and read Fables Vol.8: Wolves before returning to Pell to try to make it past the halfway point tonight. I will hope to finish this book tomorrow, not because I want to be done with it, but because it's just 361 pages long and three days should be more than long enough for me to read it. ❤❤❤ . . . . Today's August 15th task for #jcfaugust was to share a #bookandbeverage. I took these photos earlier to share the books I hoped to read today: Fables Volumes 6 and 7 by Bill Willingham and various artists and Kill the Farm Boy by Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne. 😊 . . . . I had actually hoped to finish Kill the Farm Boy today, but I didn't think that was going to happen (I was on page 75 of 361), so I started Fables Vol.6: Homelands, while Mom and I watched NFL football that we had taped. We HAD to watch NFL football, because tomorrow more games will be recorded. 😕 . . . . It's not yet 9:30p here, so I'll probably read Fables Vol.7: Arabian Nights (and Days) once I finish Vol.6 (I'm almost done). Then I'll be ahead on my N.E.W.T.s for the #NEWTsReadathon2018 #magicalreadathon and can finish Kill the Farm Boy tomorrow, hopefully. 😊 . . . . Today's August 12th task for #jcfaugust is to share something relating to "Dreaming of Summer." I NEVER dream about summer, because summers are too sunny, too hot, too humid, too much. So it's "good" that it's summer in the Northern Hemisphere and I can instead be "Dreaming of Winter." Because just as I NEVER dream about summer, I ALWAYS dream about winter. Especially here in Arizona, because our winters here are more like fall or spring elsewhere. 😕 . . . . I dream of super cold and very snowy winters. One of my favorite memories from living in Seattle is of the winter of 2008. We had snow, temperatures in the 20s during the day, and I walked the mile-and-change to and from work. For one GLORIOUS week. I was VERY happy that week. (I was also one of only two people in the office. The other? He lived just two or three blocks away.) 😄❄❤ . . . . Now that it's August, the NFL is in Preseason. So I'm especially dreaming of Winter, because my Mom will leave for my brother's and I'll have the house to myself. And I'll be able to read in the living room in the daytime with the television OFF. 🙄❤ . . . . But since it IS August, I'm trying to read while the Vikings play the Broncos on TV. It's possible, but rough-going. 😕 . . . . And turn to Photo Two to see Sad Max. My poor baby is dressed in his "I'm a naughty boy" harness and does not look happy about it. He's also up on the couch with me, and his head was on my knee. He looks like he's dreaming of winter, too. Today's August 11th task for #jcfaugust is to share a #slowread. Unfortunately, Vicious by V.E. Schwab has been a very slow read for me. And I'm not yet finished with it! 😭 . . . . The very frustrating thing about Vicious being a slow read is that I'm really enjoying the story! But. . . It is proving sooo very easy to become distracted while reading it because of how it's being told. One chapter from "Last Night," the next from "Ten Years Ago," etc., etc. etc., on and on and on. . . 😕 . . . . I had hoped that Part 1 would be it for the flipping back-and-forth in time. I had hoped Part 2 would be "Today." But NOPE! Part 2 is still flipping back-and-forth. Right now I'm paused at the start of Chapter XXI, "Three and a Half Hours Until Midnight." 🙄 . . . . I have less than 80 pages to go to The End, so I will finish this book tonight. And I'll still have time to read Fables Vol.3, since it's not quite 6:00p here. 😊❤ . So long as Vicious ends well, I'll probably give it four stars. Today's August 10th task for #jcfaugust was to share a #bookinthewild. I took all of these photos earlier today, but forgot to share them at the time. 🙈 . . . . Shown in Photo One above, I have the two books I read today on the wall, with our wild backyard in the background! 😍 And let me tell you, it was good that this photo was snapped when it was, because not two seconds later a gust of wind popped in and tried to knock Vicious and Fables Vol.2: Animal Farm into the wilds of our backyard! 🌬🙈 But luckily, I caught them before they could take the plunge. 😉❤ . I missed yesterday's #jcfaugust post to share something relating to #winterblues, so I'm combining it with today's August 9th task to share a #magicalworld! 😍❤ . . . . For Winter Blues, I could say that I'm very sad that it's NOT winter here. 😭 But instead, my #summerblues revolve around the fact that the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews is going to conclude with August 28th's release of book ten: Magic Triumphs. And while I'm very much looking forward to reading it, I'm also dreading it. I don't know how I'll survive The End! 😭😭😭 . . . . For today's Magical World, I also present to you the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I love this world! It's mostly - but not entirely - set in a post-apocalyptic Atlanta, where technology is at war with magic, with magic winning. I also love how different vampires are in this world from just about every other vampire out there. 😊😍❤ . . . . And lastly, I tried to create a heart with the books. Can you tell? 🤔 I just had to put book one inside the ❤. This series holds my heart, breaks my heart, tears my heart from my body only to dance upon it in glee, and gives my heart back to me in a very bruised condition. ❤❤❤ . . . . But I threw in a second photo. That photo has my Max in it.
