Jayden Daniels leads Commanders in win over Bengals
Tumblr media
It took until the third quarter of Jayden Daniels' third NFL game for him to get his first passing touchdown, and it might end up being one of the most interesting bits of trivia about the quarterback's career.
The play was simple enough; Daniels faked a handoff to Brian Robinson Jr. and rolled out to his left unopposed as the entire Cincinnati Bengals defense bit on the play action. Daniels dumped off the pass to his target to give the Commanders a 15-point lead. Read More...

Jayden Daniels: 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner
Tumblr media
Senior quarterback Jayden Daniels from Louisiana State University was announced as the 89th winner of the Heisman Memorial Trophy during ESPN’s 2023 Heisman Trophy Ceremony Presented by Nissan on Saturday (Dec. 9), originating from Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, N.Y.
Fellow Heisman finalists quarterback Michael Penix Jr. of Washington, quarterback Bo Nix of Oregon and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State finished second, third and fourth, respectively, in the Heisman balloting.
Daniels is LSU’s third Heisman winner as he joins Joe Burrow (2019) and Billy Cannon (1959) among Tigers to hoist the bronze statue. He is also the 20th quarterback in the last 23 years to win the award and the 39th quarterback overall.
The 6-foot-4 Daniels, born in San Bernardino Calif., completed 236-of-327 passes for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns with just four interceptions while also rushing for 1,134 yards and another 10 scores.
He leads the nation in total offense (4,946), TDs responsible for (50), passer rating (208.0, currently above the NCAA record), yards per pass attempt (11.7) and rushing yards by a quarterback (1,134) while his 40 TD passes are tied for first.
Daniels earlier this week was named the 2023 AP Player of the Year in addition to winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm, Davey O’Brien National Quarterback and Walter Camp Player of the Year Awards. He is also a five-time SEC Offensive Player of the Week winner this season.
He became the first player in FBS history to rush for 200 yards and pass for 350 yards in a game when he did it against Florida on Nov. 11, collecting 372 yards through the air and 234 on the ground. The 606 total yards broke the SEC record. Daniels joined Heisman winner Johnny Manziel as the only other player in SEC history to pass for 3,500 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a season and is the eighth player to do it overall.
Daniels’ passer rating of 208.01 is a Heisman best and his 4,946 total yards is tied for the third-most by a Heisman winner, matching 2018 winner Kyler Murray’s total. His 50 total touchdowns are the seventh most in Heisman history and his 3,812 passing yards is 12th most.
Daniels is the fifth player in the last seven years who won the award after transferring and he is the first Heisman winner born in California since Matt Leinart won it in 2004. Despite the drought, California has still produced 14 Heisman winners, more than any other state.
He is just the third senior to win the award since 2006, the other two including Burrow (2019) and DeVonta Smith (2020). Daniels, the first Heisman winner coached by Brian Kelly, is the 34th winner from the SEC.
Penix Jr. is Washington’s highest finisher ever in Heisman balloting, topping defensive tackle Steve Emtman’s fourth-place finish in 1991. Nix is Oregon’s highest finisher since Marcus Mariota won the award in 2014. Harrison Jr. is Ohio State’s highest finisher since C.J. Stroud was third in 2022.
The 2023 Heisman Trophy ballots went out to 928 electors, which includes 870 members of the media, our 57 living Heisman winners and one overall fan vote presented by Nissan, premier partner of the Heisman Trophy. All ballots were submitted electronically to the independent accountants at Deloitte.
Rounding out the top 10 finishers in the 2023 Heisman voting were:
Jordan Travis, Florida State
Jalen Milroe, Alabama
Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State
Cody Schrader, Missouri
Blake Corum, Michigan
J.J. McCarthy, Michigan

Why not? 😂
Yes, this is way too early, and, yes, we're calling this a 2025 NFL Mock Draft ... but maybe a better way to look at this is not as your garden-variety mock draft -- "Here's who your team will take 51 weeks from now having no idea how the current roster and subsequent season unfolds" -- but as a guide to the college players you should keep an eye on during the 2024 season. As always, the conversation will start with the quarterbacks, but as we sit here, there are no Caleb Williams-type prospects – though no one was talking up Jayden Daniels or J.J. McCarthy last May, either.
Again, to reiterate: This is less "mock draft" than "handy list of names to look out for in the fall." That said, we have to mention this: the draft order is using Caesars Sportsbook's Super Bowl odds (prior to Round 1) but in reverse order. We know folks are going to be very angry about why we have their team picking so high, but it's not our fault. These are your team's odds of winning a Lombardi Trophy, as determined Las Vegas.
If nothing else, using the betting odds means that, for the third straight year, the Panthers have the No. 1 overall pick. Hopefully first-year coach Dave Canales can get the most out of Bryce Young, but if that doesn't happen
you'd have to imagine quarterback at No. 1 (for the second time in three drafts for Carolina) will be a talking point.

CHARACTER INTRO:
NAME: Jayden Timothee Lucas
AGE: 29
GENDER/PRONOUNS: Male. He/Him.
SEXUALITY/STATUS: Heterosexual | Single.
OCCUPATION: Quarterback for The Black Saints
BIRTHDAY: March 29th, 1995
HOMETOWN: Wilmington, North Carolina
NEIGHBORHOOD: Carriage Falls
FACECLAIM: Michael Evans Behling
PINTEREST | BIOGRAPHY
BACKGROUND:
TW: CAR ACCIDENT, DEATH, DRUG POSSESSION.
Born to Daniel Lucas and Andrea Grant-Lucas, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The moment Jayden was born, Daniel knew exactly what his future would look like, and since Jayden was naturally talented, his future would look just that.
Jayden would attach to sports, any and all kinds. But football was his biggest passion, and the sport he'd build the most in.
Growing up, Jayden would have a best friend by the name of Soren, this girl was not only his best friend, but would become his first love. He was insanely in love with this woman. Even willing to turn down colleges that were too far, as well as proposing to her after graduation, when his dad found out about this, however, he began to form a scheme to make sure his son stayed on the path he wanted.
Tampering with his son's car, the night before graduation, Jayden and two friends would find themselves in a car crash, where one of the friends would not survive. On top of this, drugs would be found in the car, causing the teen to look at manslaughter and drug possession charges.
His father, a powerful lawyer, would offer him a deal. In order to make this go away, he'd focus back on his football career, and forgot about marriage and girls. With no other option, he'd take that.
The next day, he would leave Wilmington, and attend the college in California he had attempted to deny. He'd go on to graduate with honors, and be drafted straight out of college to his first team.
For the next couple of years, Jayden would make a name for himself in the sports world. And not only that, but fans and girls all seemed to adore him. He was living a famous life, although, something was always missing.
At 27, he'd be drafted to The Black Saints in Wilmington, and he jumped at it. As he missed his home town, and his sister had had a baby, and that meant he could be closer to them.
Having been back in Wilmington for about 2 years, Jayden keeps up appearances, and only deeps his mark in the world of football.
SOME HEADCANONS:
Second son to Daniel, but first child to Andrea.
Has a older half brother thats been somewhat of a rival to him growing up, and a little sister.
Has a nephew named Tanner via his little sister.
His jersey number is 23.
He is always wearing a chain of some kind.
Has tattoos.
Has a notoriously bad playboy rep behind him. Despite being a great football player, this is something that does taint him. He has broken many hearts along the way, but for him, it's always been one girl, and one girl only.
Has yet to find out that his father is the reason for that car accident all those years back.
The friend who was with him that night that didn't die, they don't speak anymore, and blame each other for that night.
WANTED CONNECTIONS:
FRIENDS: He's super cool to be around, and easy to get along with.
HIGH SCHOOL FRIENDS/FOOTBALL TEAM FRIENDS: His football team when he was in school. Could be friends still, could've fallen out, could just be catching up again. Either way, they were close and on the team together.
THE HIGH SCHOOL BUDDY WITH HIM THAT NIGHT: The night of the car accident, it was him and two other guys. Only 2 of them came out of that crash alive. The other passed, and this guy was super close to him. Neither of them understand what happened that night, but they both believe that the other is lying about how it went down. They haven't spoken, and presumably hate each other.
ENEMIES/I DON’T REALLY LIKE YOU: Not everyone likes everyone.
PEOPLE WHO KNOW HIS FATHER: His dad is a big shot lawyer in Wilmington, and hes not really a good dude. So, this could be a whole thing where someone doesn't like him because he's his father son. Or maybe they've had him work his case.
FANS: Anyone who enjoys football, and would watch it.
HOOK UPS/EXES THAT ENDED NOT SO WELL: Jayden is a fuck boy by image, so he's been with a lot of different women. None of these would've ended well if it went longer then a night. He's just never been emotionally available.
PARENT OR FAMILY WITH KIDS THAT WOULD KNOW HIS NEPHEW: His nephew Tanner is about 3, so possibly they've met through kids.
TRULY ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING, FOR REAL. I JUST WANNA LOVE ON Y’ALL AND BE LOVED. OK THANK YOU

Crimes That Shook Britain (East Midlands)
Tumblr media
Murder of Kayleigh Haywood Kayleigh Haywood, 15, met Luke Harlow, 28, online in 2015. For two weeks, with over 2,600 texts, he groomed her. Said she was beautiful, declared his love, persuaded her to visit.
On Friday 15 November, Kayleigh’s dad dropped her at Ibstock Community College, Leicestershire, believing she was staying with a friend. At Harlow’s flat, Kayleigh met his neighbour Stephen Beadman, 29, and she was abused, plied with alcohol.
Her worried parents reported her missing. At 3am Sunday morning, a neighbour saw Kayleigh flee Harlow’s flat, naked from the waist down. Beadman chased her, raped her and killed her with a brick. Harlow was jailed 12 years for sexual activity, grooming and falsely imprisoning a child.
Beadman was jailed for life for rape, murder and false imprisonment of a child.

Colin Pitchfork November 1983 - Lynda Mann, 15, was found raped and strangled in Narborough.
The case went cold until July 1986, when Dawn Ashworth, 15, was raped and strangled less than a mile away. The year before, Alec Jeffreys, a British genetics researcher, had discovered DNA profiling.
Testing semen samples found at both crime scenes, Jeffreys linked the cases. Police asked local men aged 17 to 34 to submit blood. Jeffreys tested the DNA samples.
After being overheard admitting he paid a colleague to provide blood on his behalf, local man Colin Pitchfork, then 25, was arrested. His DNA matched both samples, and he was jailed for life.

Susan and Christopher Edwards In October 2013, police dug up a garden in Mansfield and found the remains of former residents Patricia and William Wycherley, 63 and 85.
The pairs daughter Susan Edwards, 56, and husband Christopher, 57, were arrested - turned out they’d shot and buried them in May 1998. For 15 years, Susan said her parents were travelling, but after living off their benefits, a letter to William from the Department For Work and Pensions scared them to confess.
They were convicted of murder and given life.

The Philpotts At 4am on 11 May 2012, Mick and Mairead Philpott’s home, 18 Victory Road, Derby, went up in flames. Despite Mick’s apparently valiant efforts to save their kids, Duwayne, 13, Jade, 10, John, 9, Jack, 7, Jesse, 6, and Jayden, 5, all died.
Detectives found petrol inside the letterbox, and suspected arson. But while Mick and Mairead sobbed during a TV press conference, police already considered them suspects. A tangled love triangle emerged. Mick’s mistress, who’d lived with the Philpotts, had walked out with her five kids- a custody hearing loomed.
Mick planned to torch the family home, frame his ex love, and win custody. But a horrific fireball engulfed the house, trapping his and Mairead’s children upstairs.
In April 2013, Mick and Mairead Philpott were found guilty of six counts of manslaughter. Mick was jailed for life, Mairead for 17 years. A friend involved in the plot - Paul Mosley, 47 - also got a 17 year sentence for manslaughter.

Murder of Danielle Beccan On her way home from the Nottingham Goose Fair in October 2004, Danielle Beccan, 14, was shot in the stomach and killed in a drive-by.
Junior Andrews, then 24, and Mark Kelly, then 20, part of the Waterfront gang, were charged. They hated the St Ann’s area where Danielle lived and they’d wanted to ‘shoot up’ people.
When they saw Danielle, Kelly pulled up next to her and Andrews opened fire. Andrews and Kelly were jailed for life.

Beverley Allitt Liam Taylor, 7 months, was the first victim of serial killer nurse Beverley Allitt, then 22, in February 1991 at Grantham and Kesteven Hospital, Lincolnshire.
Within 59 days she’d killed Timothy Hardwick, 11, Becky Phillips, 2 months, and Claire Peck, 15 months, and tried to kill or harm nine more children. Staff became suspicious of the number of heart attacks on the ward.
Allitt was the only nurse on duty when the children were attacked. She’d given at least two of them large doses of insulin. In May 1993, Allitt was given 13 life sentences.

About the Time and Memory Universe + Random Tidbits :)
About:
SO... this Time and Memory Universe of mine is just a self-indulgent, college, slice-of-life series that I do not plan on legitimately writing 💀
It may or may not also include time travelling and dystopian features... I'm yet to decide
Yes I know it has a lame ass name but I'm terrible at titles LMAO
It's more friendship-centred than romance, but all the characters are open-ended for ships :P
But yeah, there's no legit plotline. They're just struggling college students and a gang of friends :D it'd probably be an SMAU
They may be underdeveloped, but they are a work in progress!
PLEASE ask me questions about them (or literally any oc of mine) I'd be so happy to talk about them đŸ˜©đŸ„ș💕
The Full Cast:

Ellie and Jessie first met being classmates since intermediate, bonding over having twin brothers. The brothers eventually meet too and the four have been pretty close ever since.
Eli met Kevin through being in a club together, and Eli being the extrovert, adopted the introvert.
Josh met Mari and Sam being in the same education course and often worked with them and they eventually joined the group.
Similarly, Josh meets Lee through the same process. Coincidentally, Lee caught Eli’s interest and he adopted the introvert too.
Eli and Ellie bicker the most and cause the most silly drama. Surprisingly, Kevin is one to start drama too. Eli tends to be the butt of the jokes. Mari and Sam are the parents of the group, and everyone babies Lee (and Kevin).
After hearing Lee call Ellie and Mari “Ate”, Jess insisted that Lee call her “Unnie” too
Lee bonds with the girl twins the most, talking about drawing, designing, writing, and music.
Karaoke, dancing, gaming, binging, and study sessions!
Kevin isn’t usually called by nickname, BUT, only Lee is allowed to call Kevin “Vin”.

BFBS have a podcast called “ChillPog” (Eli came up with the name, please think of something better.)
They started it during their first year of uni, when the gang got together. Lee and Kevin have become a new addition.
They all use online aliases, eg. Lee = leeyanyan
Their real names get used in the podcast most the time anyways.

Kevin, Eli and Samsul are gamer streamers.
Jess, Mariel and Yuki are vloggers.

They each all have their own fanbases, Lee’s growing after her involvement with ChillPog
They’re basically like DanPlan/Plan3
They also have a second account for when the group needs to split into two for 4-player games
Jess, Ellie and Lee are in charge of the visuals. Ellie, Eli and Kevin are in charge of editing. Everyone else helps plan and storyboard.
Zack, Yuki and Bea also occasionally appear on the podcast.
Daniel is a model, Seonghoon his assistant. He gets fawned over at campus most the time.

2024's Top NFL Rookie QBs: Touchdown Famine Raises Eyebrows
By: Joseph Correa
The 2024 NFL Draft was heralded as a quarterback bonanza, with six signal-callers selected in the first 12 picks. However, as we approach Week 3 of the NFL season, these young gunslingers have found themselves in uncharted waters – and not in a good way.
The Touchdown Drought
The 2024 quarterback class has yet to throw a single touchdown pass through the first two weeks of the season. This dubious distinction includes three Week 1 starters: Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears), Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders), and Bo Nix (Denver Broncos). Together, they've accumulated a staggering 196 pass attempts without finding the end zone through the air – an NFL record for rookies to begin a season, according to Opta Stats.
Individual Performances
Caleb Williams: Baptism by Fire
The Bears' No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams, has had a baptism by fire. Behind a porous offensive line, Williams has been sacked nine times, tied for the league high. His stats tell a grim tale:
267 passing yards
2 interceptions
0 touchdowns
Pressured on 43.2% of dropbacks (3rd highest in NFL)
30.4% completion rate under pressure (worst in NFL)
21.8 passer rating versus pressure
Williams is on the verge of joining an exclusive club he'd rather avoid. Only three No. 1 overall pick quarterbacks have failed to throw a touchdown pass in their first three games: Terry Bradshaw, Michael Vick, and Alex Smith. While this doesn't spell doom for Williams' career – all three of those quarterbacks had successful NFL tenures – it's certainly not the start he or Bears fans envisioned.
Jayden Daniels: A Silver Lining
Of the rookie starters, Jayden Daniels has shown the most promise. While he hasn't thrown a touchdown, his overall performance has been encouraging:
410 passing yards
0 interceptions
132 rushing yards
2 rushing touchdowns
Daniels has made history as the first rookie quarterback drafted in the first round to amass over 500 total yards without a turnover in his first two career starts since 1970. His dual-threat capabilities have been on full display, providing a glimmer of hope for Washington fans.
Bo Nix: Turnover Troubles
Denver's Bo Nix has struggled with ball security, throwing four interceptions in just two games – tied for the league lead. His stats paint a picture of a quarterback finding his footing:
384 passing yards
59.7% completion rate
4 interceptions
0 passing touchdowns
1 rushing touchdown
60 rushing yards
Nix's 0-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio is currently the worst in the NFL, a concerning start for the Broncos' new signal-caller.
The Waiting Game
While Williams, Daniels, and Nix have been thrust into the spotlight, their draft classmates are still waiting in the wings. Drake Maye (New England Patriots) and Michael Penix Jr. (Atlanta Falcons) have yet to take a regular-season snap, while J.J. McCarthy's (Minnesota Vikings) season ended prematurely due to a preseason knee injury.
Looking Ahead
It's crucial to remember that we're only two weeks into these young quarterbacks' NFL careers. The transition from college to the pros is notoriously difficult, and many successful NFL quarterbacks have struggled early in their careers.
As we look ahead to Week 3, all eyes will be on Williams, Daniels, and Nix to see if one can break the touchdown drought. Their development throughout the season will be a fascinating storyline as they navigate the challenges of the NFL and work to justify their lofty draft positions.
While it's far too early to make definitive judgments about the future of these young quarterbacks, their rocky start serves as a reminder of the steep learning curve in the NFL. As history has shown us time and again, early struggles don't necessarily predict long-term failure. The true measure of these quarterbacks will be how they respond to adversity and grow throughout their rookie campaigns.

USC finds a way to beat LSU
Tumblr media
On Sunday, at the end of the first week of the 2024 college football season, all eyes tuned in to the LSU-USC game played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was the SEC Conference squaring off against the Big Ten Conference, two storied college football powerhouses doing battle.   It was close. It was tense. It was an entertaining contest. There would be no blowout in this game. USC prevailed with a thrilling 27-20 win, capped by a short touchdown run by Woody Marks with few ticks left on the clock in the fourth quarter.
Tumblr media
LAS VEGAS, NV - SEPTEMBER 01: USC Trojans wide receiver Kyron Hudson (10) comes down with a catch during the Modelo Vegas Kickoff Classic featuring the USC Trojans versus the LSU Tigers on September 1, 2024 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Jevone Moore/Icon Sportswire) The story of the night is how well the Trojans defense played. Despite controlling the clock with 33 minutes in time of possession, LSU only converted 5 of 13 attempts on third down. And although they gave up 421 yards in total offense, the defense of the Trojans came up big when they needed to.    Without Caleb Williams running the ship, the Trojans entered the 2024 college football season ranked as the No. 23 team in Week 1.  The Trojans’ opponent turned out to be No. 13 LSU.  But there would be no Heisman Trophy quarterback operating behind center for the respective teams since Williams and Jayden Daniels have taken their talents to the NFL.  Coming into this highly-anticipated game, much ado about the contest centered on the defense of the Trojans. Last season, the ineptitude of USC’s defense is almost indescribable. The Trojans ranked 105th on defense a year ago.  Even though he flashed the skills that eventually made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams could not bail out the Trojans from sinking to an 8-5 record. Embarrassed by the woeful play of his defense in 2023, head coach Lincoln Riley prioritized addressing that issue in the offseason.   First up on the plate for Riley and the Trojans was going out snapping up D’Anton Lynn, the man who transformed the UCLA Bruins defense into one of the nation’s best last season.   "We are thrilled to welcome D'Anton and his family to USC," Riley said after the announcement was made the Trojans had brought Lynn aboard. "We simply couldn't ask for a better addition to our staff. His successful experiences in both college and the NFL make him the perfect fit for our program. I hope you will join me in welcoming him to the Trojan Family." The Trojans’ first test under Lynn’s guidance was trying to control the Tigers.
