Cait made this comment, I knew she was joking when she said it at first but still it really made me think.

She threatened to confiscate all my ‘hidden love letters’ to V, but I’ve never actually written a love letter and my art journal is securely hidden. (I double checked cause my brain wouldn’t let me live if I didn’t check.)

So I went on this stupid rant after she said that, like it was really stupid.

My version of a love letter is when V and I complete each other’s math. When we edit each other’s findings for peer review. He challenges me in a way, but also believes in me even when he’s scolding me. It’s like.. it’s like I know it is because he knows I can do better.

When I wake up and I find over forty corrections on my last paper, little scathing remarks where I signed my notes? I feel warm inside, like I’m challenged and can take on the world.

You can’t buy being seen in a world where you’re never seen for who you are otherwise.

Somewhere in the distance, Jayce could hear a faint rhythm—metal clashing against metal—as it hammered away without so much as a tremble. His eyes fell to his hands, calloused and bruised skin greeting him as moonlight spilled overhead. Then, his attention turned to his new surroundings, familiarity soon following.

These halls. He knew these halls well.

Without wasting another moment, Jayce hurried through the hallways. His footfalls were heavy and firm against the marble floor, thunderous in sound. Even with an injured leg, his pace remained brisk—never once wavering to the pain that consumed his weary body. Turn after turn, he began to wonder,

Was this another one of his delusions? Was he really here?

For the sake of his sanity, he needed it to be real.

Each fervent step brought him closer to the laboratory, the familiar noise coaxing him to come closer. When he stood at the door, Jayce pressed a tentative hand against the metal, contemplating whether to enter.

I do not get into that much trouble, you exaggerate. I fell asleep with my tea on the burner one time. It's not like I've ever caught anything on fire...that I couldn't put out, at least. Like I said, the biggest hazard on a daily basis is that I will fall asleep at my desk.

(I am happy to interact with the multiverse of Jayces! However, my Viktor is ignorant of multiple timelines and of his future with the Hexcore. I have been publicly writing a long-form story with a wonderful Jayce; hopefully, that storyline continues. So, I am not sure that I yet have an "official" Jayce, but if someone sticks out as having similar sensibilities to mine, I'll definitely ask! I am looking for someone over 21 who runs a blog style similar to mine and who is fairly active. And, of course, we have to mesh well!)

Jayce's hands shake as he tries to answer his phone. He has to repeatedly tap the screen, fingers red and starting to go numb. He tries to keep the image of his mother's fingers, black, dead, gone, out of his head.

With a huff, he brings the phone up to his ear. Fuck. He needs to put on gloves.

"H-Hey, Vik," he laughs, a little too high-pitched. Snow falls on his nose. He tries to ignore it. His hands haven't stopped shaking. "I— I'm on the way, I'll be there soon. I— I'll be fine. I'm f-fine."

He's not fine. It's cold. It's freezing. It's snowing, and he's outside, walking to Viktor's place.
