went to the dentist today bc I've had a tooth bothering me and i finally have dental insurance only to be told that i have not one but SIX FUCKING CAVITIES. I havent been to the dentist since before covid so i figured i was bound to have one or two since i have genetically bad teeth, but it's devastating to hear that no matter how well i care for my teeth, i'm just predisposed to getting them more than most people😭
(also side note but if anyone who sees this has experience with botox shots in the masseter/jaw for clenching and grinding your teeth, i would love to hear how it has worked for you. i'm considering trying them but i'd love to get some personal perspective on it first)
#also devastating to my wallet tbh since insurance is only covering 50% of the cost for cavities:/#decided to comfort myself by getting a burger on the way home so i can eat and mope#just one more stressor to my life right now#howw talks

Do you think Noel has gotten Botox in the past…if not, do you think he will?
According to GQ, male patients most commonly receive Botox on the glabella (between the eyebrows), forehead, masseter (common to cure teeth grinding and build jaw definition), crow’s feet (around the eyes), and chin (to smooth inconsistencies or build definition).
Granted, neither of these 👆🏻pics are really telling us a lot, but they’re fairly recent and I don’t see much in the way of wrinkle reduction or smoothing of deep lines.
When men get Botox, it’s apparently referred to as “Brotox,” 😂 and as to past or future use, all I’ll say is that when your career is heavily tied up in your appearance, I wouldn’t count anything out.

That awkward feeling when you go to a specialist and they’re like “uh. There are multiple things.”
Like; it turns out I’ve developed a large amount of fibrous tissue inside my mouth as a result of biting and chewing my lip and inner mouth. No other dentist has brought this up, and because it’s inside my mouth and likely developed slowly over time I never really thought about it, but now I’m like “oh there really is a lump there I hold between my teeth, damn. No one has ever mentioned that.”
Also I’ve been seeking to have Botox injections to assist with the extreme jaw pain and grinding for like. At least over a year. Get in with the dentist specialist and at some point he’s like “uh, you have chronic migraines, why hasn’t one of your doctors diagnosed this and put this through? These injections are covered entirely by healthcare for chronic migraines, but I’m not qualified to diagnose chronic migraines but like. You just said you have a daily migraine condition.”
Between TMJ dentist and Ears Nose and Throat Doctor calling out like “uh, we’re not replacements for your neurologist doing *his* job” and the neurosurgeon being like “so, most of what the neurologist said about your MRIs is not what is shown on the MRI.” I’m like.
90% sure that I need a second opinion from a new neurologist. Not sure how I’m gonna see a new neurologist peacefully, but like. I was initially on edge because “you need to lose weight” was the main advice given, but then that got backed up by a bunch of the community and other doctors jumped on it just right. But I think I need a neurologist who will do more than go “I dunno anything about that, those are part of something else. You need to see other doctors. Just take this medication and lose weight.”

hey have you ever looked into tmj treatments? i honestly don’t really understand it so im not going to try to explain too much but basically i used to have what i call headaches but may have been migraines and nobody could help me and finally got referred to a tmj specialist who was like “oh your jaw is super misaligned, you’re grinding your teeth and it’s causing your headaches” and one of the things he mentioned is that like all the meds and the Botox that I was considering would’ve been essentially a bandaid for me personally—masking the symptoms but not fixing the problem. obviously don’t know if this applies to your migraines but especially since Botox has stopped being as effective for you (which sucks, im so sorry to hear that!!) i just wanted to mention it. sorry if any of my explainings didn’t make sense/was inaccurate, not trying to spread any falsehoods, this was just based on my experience cause i went from thinking my headaches were incurable to having these incredible retainers that are making my headaches go away almost entirely
i don't have any of the other tmj symptoms so i doubt it tbh!

TMJ Disorders
Temp oro mandibular joint (TMJ) disorders are conditions that affect the jaw joints, muscles, and nerves responsible for jaw movement. Many people experience TMJ – related issues, often without realizing that their discomfort or pain is connected to this small but crucial joint.
The TMJ is the hinge that connects your jaw to your skull, located just in front of each ear. It allows you to talk, chew, and yawn, making it one of the most frequently used joints in your body. When this joint or the surrounding muscles experience dysfunction, it leads to what is commonly referred to as a TMJ disorder (TMD).
There are several potential causes of TMJ disorders, including:
1. Injury or Trauma: A direct blow to the jaw, head, or neck can damage the TMJ or surrounding muscles.
2. Arthritis: Just like other joints in the body, the TMJ can be affected by various forms of arthritis, particularly osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
3. Bruxism (Teeth Grinding): Grinding or clenching your teeth, especially at night, can put significant stress on the TMJ and lead to its dysfunction.
4. Stress: Emotional or psychological stress often leads to increased jaw tension, which can exacerbate TMJ pain or dysfunction.
5. Idiopathic: Very often, it is impossible to pin point the exact cause for TMD.
TMJ disorders can present a wide variety of symptoms, often making diagnosis tricky. Some common signs include:
Jaw Pain or Tenderness: Persistent aching or soreness in the jaw joint or surrounding areas.
Headaches or Migraines: Pain may radiate from the jaw to the head, mimicking tension headaches or migraines.
Ear Pain or Ringing (Tinnitus): TMJ problems can sometimes be mistaken for ear infections due to pain near the ear.
Difficulty Chewing or Opening the Mouth: You may experience discomfort or even locking of the jaw when eating or yawning.
Clicking or Popping Sounds: Some people notice a clicking, popping, or grinding noise when moving their jaw. While this isn’t always painful, it can be a sign of TMJ issues.
Facial Swelling: In some cases, inflammation or irritation around the TMJ may cause noticeable swelling.
There are several conditions classified under TMJ disorders, including:
1. Myo fascial Pain: The most common type of TMD, characterized by pain in the muscles that control jaw function.
2. Internal Derangement: This occurs when there’s a problem with the joint itself, often involving a displaced disc or dislocated jaw.
3. Degenerative Joint Disease: Conditions such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis can cause the TMJ to break down over time.
The good news is that TMJ disorders are treatable. Treatment plans often depend on the underlying cause, but they can range from conservative methods to more advanced interventions. Some common treatment options include:
1. Self-Care and Lifestyle Changes:
Ice/Heat Therapy: Applying ice packs or moist heat to the affected area can reduce inflammation and ease muscle tension.
Stress Management: Practicing relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga can alleviate jaw tension caused by stress.
Jaw Exercises: Physical therapy exercises to strengthen the jaw and improve joint function.
2. Medications:
Over-the-Counter Pain Relievers: Ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or naproxen can help reduce pain and inflammation.
Muscle Relaxants: In some cases, muscle relaxants are prescribed to relieve tension in the jaw muscles.
Anti-Inflammatory Drugs: Prescription anti-inflammatory medications may be used to target severe inflammation.
3. Dental Treatments:
Mouth guards: Custom-fitted night guards or splints can reduce the effects of teeth grinding or clenching, which is a common cause of TMJ disorders.
4. Surgery:
Minimally invasive options like Arthro centesis or Joint lavage can help resolve symptoms or slow down disease progression.
Invasive procedures like joint surgery/ replacement are rarely indicated.
5. Botox Injections: Botox can be injected into the jaw muscles to reduce chronic pain caused by muscle tension or Bruxism.
If you’re experiencing persistent jaw pain, headaches, or difficulty moving your jaw, it’s important to consult with a dentist or an oro facial pain specialist. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent the condition from worsening and improve your quality of life.
In conclusion, while TMJ disorders can cause significant discomfort, they are treatable with the right approach. Whether through lifestyle changes, medical intervention, or dental care, relief is possible. If you suspect that you might have a TMJ disorder, don’t hesitate to seek professional guidance for a tailored treatment plan.

Masseter Botox: Transforming Jawline Aesthetics and Alleviating Discomfort
Masseter Botox has become a popular cosmetic and therapeutic treatment, offering a unique blend of aesthetic enhancement and functional benefits. Known for its ability to slim the jawline and address specific medical concerns, this innovative use of Botox is helping individuals achieve their desired look while improving quality of life.
Here’s everything you need to know about Masseter Botox, its benefits, procedure, and who it’s best suited for.
What is Masseter Botox?
Masseter Botox involves injecting botulinum toxin into the masseter muscles, located on either side of the lower jaw. These muscles play a key role in chewing but can sometimes become overdeveloped due to teeth grinding (bruxism), excessive chewing, or genetic predisposition.
When Botox is injected into these muscles, it temporarily reduces their activity, leading to relaxation and a reduction in size. This treatment is both a cosmetic solution for jaw slimming and a therapeutic option for addressing discomfort associated with jaw tension or grinding.
Benefits of Masseter Botox
Jawline Slimming and Facial Contouring Masseter Botox is commonly used to achieve a slimmer, more V-shaped face. By reducing the bulk of the masseter muscles, the lower face appears softer and more proportionate.
Relief from Bruxism and Jaw Pain Individuals who grind their teeth or clench their jaw often experience pain and discomfort. Botox helps alleviate these symptoms by reducing muscle activity, minimizing tension and the risk of dental damage.
Improved Symmetry For those with uneven masseter muscles, Botox can restore balance and symmetry to the face.
Non-Surgical Solution Unlike invasive jaw-reduction surgeries, Masseter Botox offers a quick, minimally invasive procedure with no downtime.
The Procedure
The treatment is straightforward and typically completed in under 30 minutes:
Consultation: A professional assesses the patient’s concerns and determines the appropriate dosage.
Preparation: The target areas are cleansed, and the muscles are identified.
Injection: Botox is carefully injected into specific points of the masseter muscle.
Most patients experience minimal discomfort, and side effects like mild swelling or bruising subside within a few days.
Who is a Good Candidate?
Masseter Botox is ideal for:
Individuals seeking a slimmer, more contoured jawline.
Those experiencing chronic teeth grinding or jaw pain.
Patients looking for a non-surgical solution to enhance facial aesthetics.
Results and Longevity
Effects typically appear within two weeks and last 3-6 months. Regular treatments can lead to longer-lasting results as the muscle weakens over time.
Conclusion
Masseter Botox offers a versatile solution for both aesthetic and medical concerns. Whether you’re looking to refine your jawline or alleviate discomfort, this treatment provides effective, long-lasting results with minimal effort. Consult a qualified professional to explore how Masseter Botox can enhance your well-being and confidence.
