Arthur

Did it when he was younger but grew to prefer alcohol and only really does that.

John

Either the plug or leeches off of other people.

Like he just never has his own stuff, he's only smoking if someone will invite him.

He's cool enough that people don't mind but sometimes if no one has invited him he will "very stubly" try to suggest a session.

That's the only time people will get annoyed, they know damn well he's not bringing shit

He's always watching some show high too. Smiling Friends, Midnight Gospel, or Gumball

Javier

The plug, 100%

Super generous with his stuff, it's his way of bonding

Gets so excited to find out someone wants to smoke for the first time

"Oh, I got you! I'm off this weekend, you gotta smoke with me."

Has a bong collection too, it's pretty cool and he loves it.

Charles

He'll do it occasionally, like once in a blue moon really.

Does it more with Arthur if anything.

Great for a chill smoke, or if someone's freaking out and they need someone just there, they're always with Charles.

Charles will let it happen, even if they're a little noisy because he's been there unfortunately.

Mary-Beth

Did edibles once but she took wayyy more than she should've and greened out the fuck out

Figured, a bit later, a bong might be better and easier to measure so she asked to hit one of Javier's bongs.

Greened out after one hit. (This is me projecting) Decided that was wraps and she's never done anything since.

Swanson

God, everyone just wants him to switch to weed like everyone but it's been unsuccessful

It's because his tolerance is very high and they don't know why

Dutch tried to get him shrooms after reading about them but it ended in a very very heavy hospital bill and trouble with the police

Lenny

His guilty pleasures are reading a fuck ton of stories and experiences about DMT and other kinds of drugs, he's so deep into subreddits and forums.

He never actually takes them too seriously though nor has been tempted to try them.

He doesn't smoke weed too often either, maybe to focus on something.

Sean

God, when is he not stoned.

His car smells so bad.

It's gotten to the point where he'll forget full interactions with people because he was so far gone but has had enough practice to look sober.

So when they bring something up, he'll look at them all funny asking "When was that??"

Dutch wondered if it was amnesia or something until he found the drawer of empty carts. Like, it was a graveyard.

People struggle to tell if he's high or not at times but eventually they figured always.

Tilly

Never does it, has not done it, and with absolutely no interest.

John's offered a couple of times when they were younger but it was always an immediate and stern no.

It isn't that she minds it really, she just doesn't want to.

She has no problem hanging out with the others if they're smoking.

But for the love of God, please do not bring that stench into the house, it will creep up to her room and she won't be able to sleep.

Uncle

He'll try to peer pressure people to do it but, he's so corny about it

He sounds like he belongs in an 80's infomercial against drugs.

"C'monnn, everyone here does it!" and Tilly responds with the nastiest side eye.

He's so much more funnier high though? He gets genuine chuckles and laughs out of people, it might be because they're stoned too.

Goes to his ego a bit though and he tries to be funny again sober but it falls flat so badly it's a bit embarrassing.

But it's Uncle so he's not embarrassed.

Karen

Obviously prefers alcohol way more, its effects last way longer.

She hates having to do constant hits.

She does have her own cart though where she's hitting blinkers that cannot be good for her at out.

Her PR is 30 seconds while making a bet with Sean once. (Yes she threw up.)

Sean is also always asking for a hit of her cart.

Dutch

Opposite of Lenny. Hears stories about trips and thinks it's the most profound, eye opening thing of all time.

If he catches the kids smoking, he'll start babbling on about them and the deeper meaning behind these trips or whatever. Not a single soul cares at all expect for Bill.

Molly will try to listen but she really doesn't gaf.

His big secret though is he tried shrooms himself too but it was a horrendous experience.

He was too far deep into his pro-shroom trips that could never be wrong to take it back and admit not everything was right that he gaslit himself into believing it never happened and it worked.

Hosea is the only one that knows this, he lets Dutch live his delusions.

Hosea

Also, a great person to be with for a first time.

He obviously cannot be smoking anymore so he mainly watches over everyone else and observe whatever they do because they're always doing something

Though, if anyone pisses him off he will make them believe there's things that aren't actually there. Sean is the biggest victim of this.

"Hey, was that your friend you were with just now?" "What friend?" "The one behind you earlier. Tall feller, you must've not seen them."

Abigail

After having Jack, she stopped but she was starting to hate the smell and taste anyways. Blunts are the word offenders in her opinion.

If John tries to kiss her after any sesh she immediately slaps him and tells him to brush his teeth.

She'll take an edible with the girls though, after a lot of convincing and Jack put to sleep for the night.

Pearson

The best cook only when fried, it's a little jarring seeing the difference between his sober dishes.

He's like that "so booommmm tiktok" guy

Always so creative with his stuff and it comes out really good.

Everyone cheers when he decides to smoke a bit

Made edibles as gifts before, more than likely to Sean or Javier.

Sadie

Everyone thinks it'll calm her down from being so aggressive. It does not.

She might be worse actually.

But she's so incredible fun to be around, like every activity the gang decides to do was her idea.

Hosea doesn't do his tricks on her but she never pisses him off anyways.

Kieran

The only one actually doing it medically.

He'll smoke with the rest of the gang too, one of the few times he's comfortable chilling around them. He's just really quiet and never talks.

Seven Minutes in Heaven - Javier Esceulla

Your cheeks heat up as you reread the paper, making sure your eyes don’t deceive you. Handing the paper to Lenny, he beams down at you. Of course he knew that you were sweet on the man, having spent the nights staying up and listening to his guitar playing, complimenting him on his songs. He’s more than excited to call the outlaw over, earning himself a look of surprise. Javier stands up, straightening out his coat before walking forward. He takes your hand with a gentle grasp, bringing up so he can press his lips to your knuckles in a sweet kiss.

“So, you got me?” he purrs. You can only let out a soft chuckle as you follow him to John’s tent. Always the gentleman, he holds the flaps open for you, allowing you to enter first so he can tie it up. You sit down on the old cot, hearing Lenny call out that the time has started.

“Now, what do you wanna do?” Javier asks, making his way over to you. He slowly lowers himself down onto the cot so he’s sitting next to you, reaching out to gently rest his hand on your thigh. Your heart speeds up and you bite your lower lip.

“Ah… I’m fine with anything,��� you respond. You didn’t want to push any boundaries, worried that it would end up awkward the next time you saw him. But he uses his free hand to reach out, curling his index finger underneath your chin.

“Anything, huh?” He leans forward, hesitating just a bit in order to give you time to back out. You decide to meet him, pressing your lips to his in a sweet kiss. It starts out slow and sweet, his hand moving to cup your cheek, thumb softly stroking your skin. The hand that was resting on your leg moves to wrap around, coaxing you to straddle his lap. You wrap one arm around his neck to bring him closer, using the other to remove his hat. Your fingers run through his hair, removing the tie and letting his hair flow free. You can feel his lips curl into a smile, a soft chuckle reverberating in his throat. He pulls back for a moment to admire your red face before he leans in, peppering your neck in soft kisses. It pulls a low mewl from your lips, gripping his hair and tugging, the groan sounding heavenly.

“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” He breathes. You can only manage to let out a hum, nodding your head. His hands trail down to the edge of your shirt, slipping under the hems before he drags his short fingernails up your bare back. It sends a shiver up your spine, a smug grin creeping across his face. You tug his hair again with a bit more force this time, jerking his head back and exposing his neck. You watch his Adam’s apple bounce slightly as he swallows thickly, a husky groan escaping his lips when you graze your teeth across his skin. He’s quick to retract one of his hands, going up to grip your face and bring it so you can look at him. Smashing his lips against yours once more, he slips his tongue inside when you let out a soft gasp, his tongue sliding against yours. It’s enough to get a soft moan from you, releasing your grip on his hair to instead thread your fingers through his black locks. Another groan comes from him as you grind your hips against his. He moves his hands down to grip your hips, squeezing and encouraging you to roll your hips once again. Tracing the hems of your pants, you let out a soft hum of approval, only to hear the teen call out that your seven minutes have passed. Pulling back, you see Javier pouting. With a soft chuckle, you peck his lips one last time.

“Come on,” you say, removing yourself from his lap to start for the entrance of the tent. “You think we can go to town real quick?”

“Whatever for?” he questions, following you out as you undo the ties, seeing Lenny’s sly smile as he watches you two.

“Maybe get some privacy?” you suggest, “’Less you don’t wanna continue.”

“Mi amor, I thought you’d never ask,” he purrs. He walks close behind you, arms wrapped around your waist as he plants a soft kiss to your neck, following you over to the horses.

Dialogue request: how does the gang react to Hosea's steadily declining health condition? (coughing, wheezing for breath ect)

Hosea grew up with asthma, his childhood filled with playing and running and then collapsing and struggling to breathe. However, as he got older it began affecting him less and less, to the point that by the time Arthur came around, the boy had no idea that he had this condition.

But in the year 1897, his coughing returns, his shortness of breath. At first, he and Dutch believe it to be his asthma returning old age finally getting to him. He began drinking the herbal teas again, ones that helped him when he was younger, and taking a new medicine that is also supposed to help his condition.

However, it quickly proved that this was not a case of asthma, as Hosea could feel his chest getting tighter and in such pain that he could barely breathe. He tried to hide it from the others, not wanting to worry anyone, only really telling Grimshaw so that she might look into a remedy.

His first major attack happened during a celebration of a successful robbery of a large estate. People were singing, laughing, and drinks were being passed around. Hosea lit a cigarette, and at his first inhale he felt his lungs seize in a way he's never felt before. He fell to his knees, hacking and gasping for breath. Arthur is quickly there with a hand on his back, trying to help him.

Hosea quietly panicked when he felt the metallic taste of blood in his mouth. But he swallowed it down and reassured his son once he got a hold of himself again, claiming his old lungs were bringing back his asthma.

The next day, Dutch all but dragged him to the local doctors, adamant that this was something worse. Getting the lung cancer diagnosis was somber, to say the least, Dutch near broke down in tears, holding Hosea tightly. However, Hosea was simply resigned to the fact. He figured it was something like this, something that would kill him slowly. The two contemplated on what to tell the others, do they tell the truth? Do they even acknowledge that they went to the doctors?

In the end, Hosea decided that they had a right to know. They were family, family should know when something is wrong.

He gathers everyone around, Dutch by his side for support. "I have an announcement," he cleared his throat. "As you're probably aware, I got sick a couple days ago, and Dutch dragged me to the doctor by my ears." That got several laughs and smiles through the crowd. "We didn't rob him! This was not some crazy con, though we did try that once in Wyoming... Arthur knows," He was stalling, he knew this, but the laughter and smiles on his family's face are what he holds precious.

"I uh... I..." He took a steadying breath, the laughter quickly died down. "The doctor said I've got cancer." The first reaction to many was gasps and disbelief, refusing to believe this was happening. But then, as time passed, as they sat with the news, it became apparent that this was real.

Mary-Beth was quick to start crying, desperately trying to hold back tears but they wouldn't stop. Tilly comforted her while pushing back her own tears.

Others, like Sean and Javier, were quick to ask about cures. What could be done, who do they have to rob or kidnap to ensure he was healthy again.

"There's no need boys," he waved his hand. "This is simply the path of life. You get old, you get sick, and it kills you. I'm not telling you all so you can panic and pity me, I am telling you because you're my family and my family has a right to know." That go more tears, Jenny Kirk, Molly, Abigail, even the men like Lenny and Javier were openly shedding tears. That night, Hosea stood at the edge of the camp, enjoying the night.

He's first approached by John, his eyes cast down like he was a child again caught stealing sweets. "Do-do y'know how... how long you got?"

Hosea smiled sadly, bringing an arm around him. "Doctor said it was early stages, so we can do things to stop it spreading quickly. Other than that, he suspected I could live another ten years if I moved to live in ideal conditions."

"And... are ya?"

"'Course not! You think I'd leave you all to the mercy of Dutch and his ridiculous plans?" It was a sad attempt at a laugh, but Hosea will take it anyway.

"I'll be fine son, we'll be okay."

Arthur joined them soon after, quietly walking up beside the older man, hands gripping his gun belt.

"Hosea I... I'm real sorry."

"Now why on Earth are you apologizing? You didn't give me cancer."

"I know I just... this ain't fair."

Hosea grabbed his arm and dragged him closer, the other arm around him. "You know well as I do that life ain't fair, son. We just gotta go with the cards that were dealt with us." The three stood there for a while, the two younger men quietly crying, and their father comforting them with the hard news.

A week later, after Hosea had another attack while playing with Jack, John left in the dead of night.

In the months following the gang did as much as they could to help Hosea and burden him less, but it got to a point where Hosea was getting stir crazy and annoyed at how much he was not doing. After an argument with Dutch and Susan, they agreed to let him into more jobs, riding out alone. The others were slow to follow, especially those like Abigail and Tilly who had known him for so long, wanting to make sure he stayed healthy. They became used to his hacking, recognizing when it was a regular attack or a bad one, and reacting appropriately.
