Commuters’ Insights on Public Transport: Challenges and the Need for a Bus Tracking System
As part of our research for our project proposal, we conducted interviews with seven individuals to understand the common struggles of daily commuters and how our proposed system could address them. Here are the names of the people we interviewed
Alliyah Bulawit
Francis Kyle Borces
Ana Rose Bongcales
Jaspher Lucman
Ronnel Suason
Sylvia
Michelle
Challenges Faced by Commuters
Unclear Arrival Times & Bus Availability
According to Alliyah Bulawit, one of her biggest concerns is the weak air conditioning in buses, which makes commuting uncomfortable. She also struggles with not knowing when the next bus will arrive, leading to long waiting times.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2c3b3ee303e51cec246efcf64e0d0e34/c24eaf9465c6b707-c6/s540x810/f6807d37be671776de39c8e0176e44d87becb728.jpg)
Similarly, Mrs. Sylvia and Mrs. Michelle experience waiting almost an hour due to a lack of buses. They believe that a bus tracking system would be beneficial, as it provides high-tech solutions to address these delays.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b374bd84543d1844235671b0b071b6e5/c24eaf9465c6b707-1b/s540x810/b68a505e00650c7610f8f7e033da233a9326770c.jpg)
Skipping Stops & Forgetfulness
Francis Kyle Borces highlighted that one of her main frustrations is buses skipping stops. This causes passengers to miss their rides and wait even longer. Additionally, she mentioned that conductors sometimes forget passengers’ requested stops, adding to the inconvenience.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/404263a3b46919d34ef25c664464e2f4/c24eaf9465c6b707-87/s540x810/56e0a3707e1a79dd4fc82835a8fc4b4144525058.jpg)
Delayed Fare Transactions
For Ana Rose Bongcales, a major issue is delayed change from conductors. This slows down the boarding process and often frustrates commuters who are in a hurry.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/78ab156c171659decab9090ea03db923/c24eaf9465c6b707-f0/s540x810/f831e3652b1a7ec0bf6ea21d640d470c803ba0d6.jpg)
Overcrowding and Unfair Fare System
Jaspher Lucman raised concerns about standing in buses yet still paying the same fare as seated passengers, which he finds unfair. He also mentioned:
°Overcrowding makes the ride uncomfortable.
°1-hour waiting time due to a lack of buses delays passengers significantly.
°Sometimes, the ticketing devices run out of battery, forcing conductors to shift to manual ticketing, which slows down transactions.
He believes that a bus tracker would be extremely helpful, especially in his area, as it would allow him to track available buses in real time and reduce waiting times.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/88c73dbfa22ce71f98531832be1c4b35/c24eaf9465c6b707-65/s540x810/a4d31a2a7c8dc863b91f310df30900f15d873065.jpg)
Communication Barriers in Overcrowded Buses
Mr. Ronnel Suason observed that conductors and passengers sometimes struggle to hear each other, especially when buses are overcrowded. He supports the idea of a stop request system, as it would provide seamless communication between passengers and drivers.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/feea638db6796036a6d662073d0d8efd/c24eaf9465c6b707-4d/s540x810/0272f33e0f2bdd222c8d0cd1a6e9c6b366e82b66.jpg)
Positive Feedback on the Bus Tracking System
Despite these challenges, all the interviewees agreed that a bus tracking system is a great idea. They believe that
✅ It would reduce waiting times by showing real-time bus locations.
✅ A stop request system would improve communication and prevent missed stops.
✅ High-tech solutions like this would modernize public transport, making commuting more efficient.
Reflection and Insights
From our interviews, it is clear that commuters face significant challenges, including long waiting times, overcrowding, unclear bus arrival schedules, and inefficient fare transactions. The lack of real-time tracking and communication between passengers and drivers worsens these issues.
One major insight is that the implementation of a bus tracking system combined with a stop request feature can significantly enhance the overall commuting experience. By providing real-time updates, reducing waiting times, improving fare charging accuracy, and enabling communication, public transport becomes more efficient and trustworthy.
The positive feedback from our interviewees reinforces the need for a smart transport solution, proving that our project has practical value and potential impact in addressing everyday commuter struggles.

How is Justice fair?
written by Carl Jaspher Galang
Before the legal system we have today, people used unfair ways to decide if someone was guilty or innocent. For example, there was something called the ordeal by trial. In this, the accused had to fight for their life, and if they won, they would be considered innocent. Another strange method was the ordeal by blood, where if the accused touched the dead body of the victim and it bled, they were seen as guilty. Looking back, these methods seem pretty silly, don't they?
Back when our country was under Spanish rule, getting justice was even harder. Cases had to be sent all the way to the Supreme Court of Spain, which was thousands of kilometers away. This made it tough for the poor and those who were classified as "Indios" to get the justice they deserved. Even though we had revolutions and made our own Constitution, and our legal system has gotten better over time, people still believe that justice is really fair and unbiased. During the times of Ferdinand Marcos and Rodrigo Duterte, the police and military were given a lot of power, which made many people scared. Most of the authorities have committed grave abuse of discretion, resulting in many casualties of Filipinos. But it's important to remember that people in power, whether in the government or the courts, are supposed to be there to serve the country and its people. Unfortunately, many people, especially those who are marginalized, don't know their rights. For example, they might not know that a police officer cannot arrest them without a warrant. Without the support of ordinary people, our country and its government would not exist. But because of corruption, bad management, and unfair treatment, people no longer trust the police and other authorities. Unfortunately, it often seems like justice is only for rich people, while poor people get mistreated.
But I believe things can change, and one way is by using forensic science. In criminal cases, evidence is really important for deciding if someone is guilty or not. By following the right procedures and using forensic science properly, we can make sure that the legal system is fairer for everyone. The hope for change and unbiased rules will prevail if the future law enforcement begins to prioritize and have the mindset of protecting the people instead of making cases for their enjoyment as seen by many today. Addressing flaws, subjecting real evidence, and taking transparency and truth to the next level through forensic science, maybe the future will be cleaner and more trustworthy. Forensic science is but a part of the judicial system that can aid in the fair rule of those in trial, and with the right use, it can expand the fairness of these grounds and bring truth as their first and last stand.

My First Time — I got into Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) and went into Koronadal City for the first time. Indeed first time is the best, learning new things may lead you to a new path where you can grow and improve more.
When my team and I initially started using collaborative desktop publishing, we didn't particularly enjoy it. I got to know the new members of our team, Azhar and Lira together with Franz and Cyrille. Being with them and creating memories with them was such a pleasant experience; I loved that with their support, I could see a better future for myself. We gave it everything we had on the day of the competition, working through the allotted time to complete our objective. Unfortunately, we did not win. I also tried auditioning for radio broadcasting, but I was not accepted.
Writing news was not really my passion, even if it was a must to join the field. But then a fresh door appeared for me, The Collaborative Desktop Publishing. Despite not placing first in collab, the Sinagtala Publication, our publication in the Filipino category, took home the title of overall champion in the competition for Filipino publications. As soon as we saw the result, Sir Tonny Dulay, myself, and the other journalist who worked with me to finish the publication were pleased. At that point, Sir Tonny informed us that my co-journalist, who had won the publication competition, and I would be continuing our rivalry on the RSPC in Koronadal City.
RSPC announcing of winners in the school paper takes place, Sinagtala Publication won 9th place on the news page, and I was honored to have my news selected for publication there. They also received numerous other honors. I got to experience climbing up to the stage and receiving the award, which was such an amazing experience. I was pleased with myself since I know that I and my team succeeded.
It's true that the first time is always the best; discovering new things might open up new avenues for your own development.

Bad Dream
By: Jaspher Drake T. Icamen
From my mother’s tales, since I was very little, I always wanted a dog. My parents refused for a while reasoning that a dog needs company and I was too little to take a responsibility. I kept begging with no avail. Little children have very strong intention, in fact so strong that they tend to create their own reality, meaning to manifest their desires into their own universe. And so it was in my case. One Sunday morning, my mother opened the front door to go shopping. I was following her with the intention to accompany her to the store. I was the first one to see her. She was very little and shaking.
The first impression that I remembered was compassion: strong emotion that this little puppy needed my protection and my help. My mother was in a minute shock, clearly not knowing what to do. I did not hesitate and at my tender age of four I made a strong decision to act: to help this little puppy that obviously was abandoned and left to die. Putting my best “begging” to forth I pleaded my mom to feed it. At last, se consented, and for a while this little and beautiful puppy was mine. I remembered that day I stayed home feeding the puppy with the milk my mom found in refrigerator.
I was stroking its black fur and was watching in delight how it was lacking milk out of the bowl. My mother came home from shopping and for a little while was standing there watching me making the puppy feel comfortable. I think that her seeing that love I had, that tender attention, and that fuss around it made her mind up. She made a weak attempt to find the owner, which did not extend more, but to make a dozen of fliers and to hang them up in our neighborhood. No one came to claim it and I knew then the puppy was mine. That day I named it. Her name was Moxie.
As I was growing up so Moxie did. In a year, as I remember, Moxie was already a good size. This is when my little brother tied to climb on Moxie like he would do so on the horse. Even at five, I knew that Moxie was not comfortable but she never gave neither my brother nor me a sign that she was angry or displeased.
She bravely would withstand our little exploitations still licking up on the face and wiggling her tail. Moxie was our constant companion. It would not matter where we would go, she would try to follow us. The only separation was the times when we had to go to school.

Blog #1. "My experiences on Practical Research 1"
Hi everyone, gotta tell you what my experiences during practical research 1, cause I know you'll going to love it. So as I entered the part life that no one could identify except to me, I first thought of this subject "is this hard?, Could I make it as a leader?." But that's not really the thing, I prayed that " I hope that I my groupmates will be cooperative", luckily they were. So my groupmates and started our first work at the place of Jaspher Abrigo. They have the complete set of appliances we need. Together with them we tried to make a research, at first it was really hard, especially on the introduction, because we were using C.A.R.S model. So the greatest thing or memories that happend to me because of this Subject, I was able to bond with my bro and sis. That's all my dear reader, see you on my next post.
