re: hair loss, at what point as a man should you just shave it? I have/had long wavy Matthew McConaugh-hair, and I’m decently emotionally invested in the compliments I used to get. Outside of wanting to look good to women I don’t super care though, that and that my dad always wanted to grow his hair long but it didn’t work out for him, so I’m kinda doing it for both of us.
anyway, I’m on the road to approaching the “woody harrelson at the beginning of Natural Born Killers” hairline, and it’s a struggle. Been on finasteride for like 8 months, and I’m pretty sure it’s making me depressed, plus it does weird stuff to your cum, which is both gross and frightening in its implications. I had good results with rogaine, should probably start that again, regardless of what I do.
At what point does a man become sexier with the buzz cut a la Jason Statham, every Russian guy, etc?
it’s also frustrating because there’s so many memes out there about “creepy balding guys”, like it’s just this shorthand for being a coomer or a serial sexual harasser or what have you. I could live with “ugly balding guys”, there have been times in my life when I was hot and times I was ugly, I’m able to cope with that. But creepy just really sucks. I had a lot of female friends in college, and some women I’m very close to were victims of sexual violence, and so I’m probably hyper-sensitive and afraid of being perceived as predatory in any way. It’s good that I’m aware of the problems, but sometimes I wish I was more ignorant, it’d make it a lot less scary to strike up conversations with new people if I wasn’t crushingly aware of how often women are uncomfortable with men they’ve never met.
(I’m not morlock-Holmes, but I think we have some of the same dating issues)
So first off, it is obviously wrong and bigoted to make assumptions about someone's behaviour or intentions based on what they look like unless we're talking about something very specific and intentional like 'they have nazi tattoos'. If it helps any (I'm not sure it does) I don't think that these people necessarily see a balding guy and think that's a sexual predator so much as they are doing that very schoolyard thing of "we don't like this kind of people (sexual predators) and so we're going to stereotype them as being something we think is unattractive" (you see similar things with fatness and 'neckbeards').
If it is the women you actually know who say these sorts of things (that wasn't clear), it literally might not occur to them that they're making you feel this way because it's just a general-purpose insult to them that's become detached from the actual notion of a person they might know and like who happens to be male and balding.
This sort of talk is actually, if anything, dangerous to potential victims of sexual violence, because the idea that you can somehow spot Creepy Guys and they definitely look different to anyone else will tend to help conventionally attractive guys get away with it!
I don't think there are any hard and fast rules about the hair thing. Lots of guys do look cute with a buzzcut, and it is common (but not universal) in the dominant Anglosphere culture for people to find this more attractive than even very nice hair when that hair has visible male-pattern balding going on. I confess I do have this reaction myself sometimes, but I also find that the more I get to know people the more I see the nicer hair and the less I see the "but it's balding" part, but there are levels that will always look a bit odd to me (eg the shakespeare cut). Which, yknow, isn't actually a reason why people should change their hair, though I imagine you're asking because being attractive to other people is important to you.
Your female irl friends are perhaps best-placed to approximate the sort of views that predominate among the sort of women you're likely to be trying to date, and there are now decent AI tools to give you an idea of what you might look with different hairstyles - maybe try one out, see what you think and ask their advice.
Oh, also, in my personal opinion if your hair is fairly voluminous and past shoulder length you can get away with a receding hairline a lot longer - same with certain careful short but long on top looks, although they can be more fiddly.

The Beekeeper Review
Tumblr media
Oh boy, I was ready for Beekeeper, but for all the wrong reasons! The poster looks like Jason Statham is gonna turn into bees in this movie. The trailer was bad. The premise is insane. We used Not The Bees meme in the preshow. I was so prepared for a goofy good time, especially after suffering through Mean Girls and Book of Clarence fumbled the ending.
I will say up front, I got a decent amount of respect for Jason Statham. Not only did he help produce this movie, but he seems like a nice guy, family man in a committed relationship, but not like a dick about it. He stands by for the Stuntman Union, that's pretty awesome. And of all the meathead action heroes (your Stallones, Schwarzeneggers, and Rocks) he works the best is pretty much any action movie they put him in. Like you don't watch these movies to see any of these guys become different characters, you just watch them transposed into different situations. And Statham kinda just fits in any movie you put him in. That's respectable.
What's This Movie About?
Jason Statham is Adam Clay, a beekeeper. When his landlady falls for a phishing scam and kills herself, he reveals that he is also a Beekeeper with a capital B, which is basically a superpowered secret police officer. And he's about to kill anyone even remotely responsible for his landlady's suicide.
What I Like.
This movie is basically asexual boomer John Wick. While not quite and well staged and shot as those movies, it's still pretty satisfying and crunchy. There are some kills in this movie that made me go "Huhuh, bruuuutal!" The pacing of this movie is excellent as well, keeping me engaged but not overwhelmed. The villains in the movie are perfect. I didn't even need the landlady to kill herself, I was ready for the Beekeeper to murder these fuckers as soon as they were on screen. Pretty much all of them that aren't crazy mercenaries are tech sector bros and nepobabies, and you don't know true satisfaction until you see a guy try to bribe someone with NFTs and then immediately get thrown off a bridge. And the escalation of the violence is sublime. Clay starts out almost like a slasher, hiding in the shadows and picking off guys one at a time. Then, when the road trip section of the movie begins, he starts taking out squads of guys, stealing their guns to use. And the ending is almost a one-man storming of the White House. I actually like Clay's personality in the movie. Yeah, he's basically just Jason Statham, but I like that he goes out of his way to avoid killing as many people as he can. And he has a frank kindness I dug. I have a feeling that this'll be an unpopular opinion, but I actually like the cutaways to the FBI agents. Going to them seeing the aftermath of the Beekeeper's carnage was pretty interesting and I like both the characters. Admittedly the politics of the movie is slightly muddled, but I ain't gonna hate anything that say "punish the greedy".
What I Don't Like.
Um... The ending chickens out of it's set up a little bit, but it also ends so quickly that you don't really have time to think about it.
Final Summation.
This movie is actually good. Not so bad it's good, not ironically good, not good if you shut your brain off. Actually, legitimately good. What the actual fuck.
Why don't we have more movies like this? I don't mean sequels, I mean movies like The Beekeeper. I mean yeah, "don't be greedy" is a common moral, but I mean why don't we have more movies where unstoppable forces just plow over the greedy. I need so many movies where greedy douchebags get murdered indiscriminately, that I want to be sick of them. (But I never will be.) I want these movies to be so ingrained in pop culture, that when Joe Buggknutz comes up with his next get rich quick scheme, he doesn't go through with it because he's afraid Jason's gonna strangle him to death in his sleep.
So... Go see this movie. It's good, even though Jason Statham doesn't turn into bees.

If Samuel L. Jackson was in Star Trek it would be as a small role in either Into Darkness or Beyond as a high admiral and the most Reddit people you know would post memes that said “Samuel L. Jackson: the only man to have been in Star Wars, Star Trek, and the MCU” with the Barney Stinson legendary gif. If Dolph Lundgren was in Star Trek it would probably be in late enterprise as a favor either to or from showrunner Manny Coto, who he worked with in 1991 on the movie Cover Up, and he would either be the voice of some cgi creature or buried under Klingon or some other manner of ethnically troubling makeup. Jason Statham wouldn’t be in Star Trek. The man has lived a thousand lives and the timelines just never work out. If Rutger Hauer was in Star Trek it would be as “and a special appearance by” in mid to late ds9 where he would either play it straight and dignified, like a starfleet captain being destroyed by the pressure of the dominion war, or crazy and fun, like an obsessive android manufacturer for a cheap blade runner connection. If Nicholas Cage was in Star Trek it would be because he likes money.
If Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared in Star Trek it would be as a brief cameo in one of the movies where he played a representation of an alien government with minimal make up in a federation scene. If Sylvester Stallone was offered the chance to appear in Star Trek he would say no because he “didn’t get it” and he’s not a TV guy. If Bruce Willis appeared in Star Trek it would be a one episode role as a human federation scientist in s1/s2 tng right before he got huge and he would be number two with a bullet on the “people you didn’t know were in Star Trek” lists. If JCVD appeared in Star Trek it would be around ent s4 in his past his prime/early dtv days as part of a last ditch effort to save the show from cancellation and the episode would revolve around him somehow getting cloned. If Steven Seagal was in Star Trek, it would be in an episode of voyager that never actually got made because of Seagal’s diva behavior, but leaked scripts discovered later would reveal that it had a strong environmentalist message at his insistence. If Kurt Russell appeared in Star Trek it would be a small role in tos when he was like 12 and he would be number one on those “people you didn’t know were in Star Trek” lists. Harrison Ford would shoot himself in the head before appearing in Star Trek. If Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appeared in Star Trek:
