Yesterday’s session. 14” x 22”, Indigo ink and gesso on board. The story behind this one, I had started a separate painting of the same subject a few weeks ago(I posted some pics on my story) , and after a long battle trying to get it right, no matter what I did, I couldn’t save it. And for the first time ever, I literally had to paint over it and walk away. Having to paint over it was a big deal for me as I had to come to a tough realization, my eyes don’t work properly. Some of you may or may not know, but I’m pretty badly colorblind. And while I can usually manage mixing fleshtones and get it to look good, it just wasn’t working for me this time. On top of that, I was working on a box wood panel that wasn’t properly prepared, and the paint was just soaking in incessantly. That all being said, I grabbed a new ref pic and jumped right back into a new piece on an easier surface, using indigo ink and gesso only, finishing off with a tiny bit of oils at the end. This is the final product and coming off that defeat in the last one, I’m pretty happy with it.
