Lilith didn’t recognize her growth spurt until her squad mate pointed it out.

“No longer a short stack anymore, eh, short stack?” Shea asked, pressing her finger on forehead.

“Huh?” Lilith blinked, she glanced up at her. She didn’t understand, the woman was taller than her, how was she supposed to tell?

“You grew over night, Lils.” She said, stepping back to grin at her.

“I told you to stop calling me that, Kelli.” She muttered, glaring at her. No calls her that. Not anymore.

“What do you say, Jasiri?”

“Hm?” The tall man glanced from his bunk. “A foot and a few inches?”

“That’s what I thought too.” The auburn haired woman flashed another grin. “Don’t worry, Clawthorne, you’re still a short stack to me.”

Lilith was slowly getting used to her squad mates at the time when she got her growth spurt. Shea tries any nickname to call her much her annoyance, though she strictly tells them Lily and Lils are extremely off limits.

I just had this worming in my brain as I wanted to explore their dynamic as a trio. I may be itching to do a prompt list ask game if anyone is interested.

Background: Went to St. Epiderm and was two years ahead of Raine, but they were friends as they enjoyed discussing music together. They were in the school band before Raine left. They played bass cello while Raine played violin. They preferred playing the Blues and R&B over the need for classical. When he joined the Emperor’s Coven, he was in a similar Squadron to Lilith and Shea. They were the only members of the training group that survived getting down to the Knee alive. When he became Scout Captain, he was instructed to help the previous Beast Coven Head, but he was unhelpful as he left him and his Squadron to handle a beast. He ended up losing his right eye because of it and hated him ever since. It took even longer for them to even begin to Coverness Huntsman after they took over the Beastkeeping Coven.

Camila: She is an amazing mom, who only wants the best for Luz. I honestly think she hid the Cosmic Frontier books and stuff because that’s how she and Manny met. Her coping mechanism is to hid the very thing she loved away and to move on. The real terrible person is that director guy for guilt tripping her. He deserves to beaten by Principal Bump while he’s getting Luz’s school records.

Jasiri Kweli: Because he’s my OC there isn’t much to add into this bingo. I think about them heavily at times both with canon characters and OCs because he is one of the first three I thought of.

As for Shea and Jasiri’s chat nicknames, I was thinking Firecracker or a protective animal nickname for Shea because she has forward personality and maternal instincts. As for Jasiri, because his name is from East Africa, he would have something associated with Lion as his name means fearless in Swahili.

Hey I saw a thing about how the military uses fatalistic (or whatever the word is) humor. Does the EC do that too?

Hi! Sorry for the late answer and I had to look up the word.

As for if Scouts and Captains make fatalistic jokes, I would say perhaps. They would mostly be in a dark humor kind of way, like “we’re going to die at some point on a mission.” Something like that for those who’ve been around long enough.

Though I would doubt fatalistic jokes would work as heavily as Belos always “preaches” the Will of the Titan. If anything they wouldn’t find solace in making those jokes.

Belos: If the Titan’s will is that you will die, then you will die. You cannot argue with the Will of the Titan.

Coven Scouts: Yes, Emperor Belos.

I mostly think that their humor goes in the opposite of fatalistic as they are able to live past the event and live to fight another day. Some Captains joke in this as they find it amusing.

Shea, grinning: I am too badass and sexy to die.

Lilith: Yet there is lack of statistical proof.

Shea: I am statistical proof. The Titan is my witness.

It isn’t until after those who leave the Emperor’s Coven along with Steve, do they realize that they can change destiny. Lilith choose against it, Steve pondered against it, so what is stopping them? They have to process what they’ve done of course as that is never easy and to make it up to the peers of the Boiling Isle.

“In what ways does her mood affect her fighting style?”

I doubt she would instantly choose the option to kill, it would have to be something she slowly would adjust her fighting style to when she was requested to join the Emperor’s Elite Force.

Initially Coven Scout training would probably specialize in incapacitating criminals by knocking them unconscious or tying them up. Nothing that would require lethal force. Some Scouts may have thought otherwise, but it was seen as the lest used approach.

Another reason is Lilith was more of an optimistic do good-er, as stated in Them’s the Breaks Kid. I highly doubt she thought she would have to kill people, as she wouldn’t have gone with that when she was starting out.

As she grew through the ranks and became apart of the Elite Force, killing and lethal blows would be required. Something she wasn’t comfortable at first. Because they were on call for the Emperor as well as their usual Scout Captain duties, they would have to have to hold restraint when dealing with low level opponents. It almost becomes a split second reflex which Lilith honed over the years. More so after she became the Coven Head of the EC.

“Has Lilith had any tough fights?”

I had to ask myself when making the Canon divergence au for the Day of Unity: “She has to have fought a Coven Head and knows how difficult it is to kill one before right?” Because it would be a poor narrative choice if she hadn’t and that would lead to too much of the op corner. Especially when she no longer had access to her magic.

Then as I cooking the AU in my head, I had a thought one day for a storyline while I was developing the Elite Force slowly. The toughest fight Lilith had to deal with the first time was when she and fellow Scout Captains, Jasiri Kweli and Shea Kelli—two OCs I made—were assigned to kill the previous Beast Keeping Coven Head because Belos believed he toes too far out of line and he required him to be dealt with.

Beast Keeping Coven training is hash in my AU, as they take the skills of hunting and tracking seriously. They know the forests surrounding the Boiling Isles better than anyone and do yearly retreats for new recruits. The Previous Coven Head was ruthless and enjoyed making his lessons very immersive. He would hunt his in order to show them how creatures on Boiling Isles felt. That’s a story for a completely different time and it goes along with Eber.

Now, this man specialized in weapons and traps instead of completely relying on his magic, which came to be an obstacle for the group as he was a big, strong, and surprisingly fast. The battle had to have taken place in the forest which I believe always put them in a disadvantage. It would have taken Lilith and the fellow Scout Captain the whole day to finally kill him which gave them a taste for how strong a Coven Head was. They were thoroughly tired and battered by the end of it.

Over the years, Lilith would have been put into more difficult fights, but nothing to that high of a level most were criminals or underground rebels.

My favorite Lilith hc is one of her opening moves as the Snow Raven is leaping in the air, cloak fluttering in the air as it distracts her opponent, leaving them open to be kicked in the face.

I recalled how Romans found Ravens to be bad luck on the battlefield as a Raven flew from a soldier’s helmet, distracting the Roman soldiers before being open to an attack. It usually means the battle was already loss.

So, yeah, I like putting Raven symbolism into Lilith’s fighting style. Instead of cutting off heads, it’s a kick to the face.

Well, I am still deciding on that. The graduating classes from three schools and depending on how many in takes there were because it’s very cut throat. Then you have to consider how many survived from training which further dwindles the numbers.

Lilith, Shea and Jasiri were the only members of their training squad that survived as the others died.
