You've told us a bit about Moskuans, but what about Adreas' species? Can you tell us something about them? I love everything you've shown of your world and concepts!
Adreas' species are called tenel, or Tenelik if you're talking about them as a people.
Tenel are adapted to arid environments and mostly live in small, close-knit communities close to plains and mountain ranges. Their native range has many large predators, so they're known as a hardy and crafty people.
Tumblr media
There has been significant diaspora throughout history, so you'll also find them in mixed-species communities in the lowland and coastal regions. When in mixed company, they readily adopt the dominant culture, sometimes to the detriment of their own.
Tenel in Fadesi society will take on basically any kind of work. They're small of stature and quite hard working. They also require less food and can subsist on only a fraction of fresh water of the average Fadesi. Very useful traits for shipping and long distance transportation.
Fadesi consider the Tenelik way of life to be a bit primitive. Despite the average tenel showing great aptitude in fields of navigation, mathematics and astrology.
It is said that a tenel can always find their way back Home. Here is a sailor and navigator named Jarva.
Tumblr media
Tenel prefer going in the buff, but will submit to a bare minimum of coverings in "polite" society. Adreas is regarded by other Tenelik as a bit of an eccentric for his tailored clothing. Adreas is also unusual in other ways, being both uncommonly tall and outrageously cranky for a tenel.
Young tenel are adorable and sometimes adopted as mascots of sorts by Fadesi. However, as hatchlings they're covered in fluff that hide a multitude of quills. Petting is ill-advised!

A poem by Jonathan Swift
Tumblr media
Stella’s Birthday: March 13, 1719
Stella this Day is thirty four, (We won’t dispute a Year or more) However Stella, be not troubled, Although thy Size and Years are doubled, Since first I saw Thee at Sixteen The brightest Virgin of the Green, So little is thy Form declin’d Made up so largely in thy Mind.
Oh, would it please the Gods to split Thy Beauty, Size, and Years, and Wit, No Age could furnish out a Pair Of Nymphs so graceful, Wise and fair With half the Lustre of Your Eyes, With half thy Wit, thy Years and Size: And then before it grew too late, How should I beg of gentle Fate, (That either Nymph might have her Swain,) To split my Worship too in twain.
Tumblr media
Jonathan Swift (1667-1745)
Note: “Stella” was the name Swift gave to Esther Johnson (13 March 1681 –1728). Journal to Stella, a letter-diary covering the years 1710-1713, consists of 65 letters addressed to her. Swift, 14 years older, first met Esther/Stella when she was about eight and when he was secretary to Sir William Temple at Moor Park in Surrey. When Swift saw her again in 1696 he thought she had become the most beautiful, graceful and agreeable young woman in London. After Temple’s death, Hester moved to Dublin even though she had no connection with the city apart from Swift himself. Some believe they were secretly married in 1716, but there is no evidence on this. In any event, he was inconsolable when she died at 46, and is buried next to her in St. Patrick’s Cathedral (Dublin).
Starting from 1719 Swift sent her a poem on her March 13 birthday. This resulted in a series of Stella’s Birthday poems ending in 1727, the year of her death. Swift wrote Stella’s Birthday, 1719 to celebrate her 34th birthday.

Ruusujen Aika
(O Tempo das Rosas)
SF, 1969
Risto Jarva
7/10
Democratic Roses and Thorns
A surprising Finnish film from the end of the 60s, which proposes, in a science fiction environment that could have inspired Woody Allen's Sleeper, a reflection on the concept of democracy and the utopias it gave rise to, which kept the world divided and suspended at the time of the Cold War, which nevertheless caused episodes of enormous violence, permanently threatening the world with the total destruction of humanity.
The conclusion seems to be that totalitarian democracy annihilates the individual, and that only the imperfection of the democratic social struggle guarantees individual freedom, even if it generates violence and social confrontation.
However, totalitarianism inevitably imposes itself on the annihilation of the individual in the face of the collective interest.
An interesting reflection that well reflects the ambiguity of political thought at the time, which is still relevant, even in current times, when the Cold War has become history.
What is democracy after all? Are these regimes, in which we currently live, truly democratic?
Doesn't the ghost of totalitarianism remain suspended, waiting for the bankruptcy of social democracies, victors of the cold war?

RUUSUJEN AIKA - (”Time of Roses”; Risto Jarva, 1969)
Tumblr media
In a dystopic future (the action takes place in the year 2010) Humanity has banned wars and social/ideological conflicts: the WorldWide Government controls and cares everything, women and men live with no worries and enjoy the welfare in a status of relax and peaceful tranquility. A journalist decides to investigate a tragic forgotten case that happened in the Sixties: the premature death of a young woman (a nude model) who was hit by a train after having courageously saved the life of a child; so he decides to make a docu-film about that fact with the intent (also) to show how great is the difference between the Sociality (violent and corrupted) of that time and the collaborative and quiet contemporary social life. To play the character of the unfortunate heroine of that dramatic incident he calls a young woman who, as days pass by, ever more looks like the protagonist of the real event that happened 50 years before....
"Time of Roses" is one of the best of the many "quality movies" produced by the Finnish cinema of those years, an amazing, outstanding film that happily surprised me till the very first frames. Its more evident values stand in the mastery of Jarva's mise-en-scène that takes advantage of a personal sort of stylized editing, a fluid camera, an evocative imagery, and some narrative devices (voice-over, TV sequences, close-ups) that someway recall some movies of the early French nouvelle vague (I think of “La jetée”, “Una femme est une femme” and “Le beau Serge”); other valuable elements of this beautiful movie can be found in the fascinating musical score, the performances of the actors and (last but not least) the spectacular, highly contrasted black and white cinematography. As regards the "nature" itself of the film (a very pessimist movie that was called by the great part of the critics as a "dystopic science-fiction") I signal its political/apologetic (and bitterly satirical) by the way it presents the substantial resemblance between two models of civil society in which the new one (if normalized and “pacified”) even presents all those failures (of the old one) that it would have wanted to overcome.

Important, historic and unique harp-guitar with bespoke stand made by D. Jose Gallegos of Spain and signed in mother of pearl on a circular plate positioned beneath the sound hole, the back and sides constructed of rosewood, the spruce table with alternating geometric mother of pearl banding and with further ornate mother of pearl inlaid bands enclosing the sound hole, the harp fitted with twenty six strings and the guitar with two double coarse and four single strings; the instrument also fitted with an angled extended cello neck fitted with three strings, all the strings attached to a pierced foliate engraved metal plate fastened to the lower bouts of the table and bearing an oval plaque inscribed Malaga 1849, also bearing a monogram inscribed on a small gold oval plaque to the pierced guitar headstock, with original harp turning key and within a bespoke made plush lined case. This instrument has the original ormolu and rosewood bespoke stand also made by D. Jose Gallegos, the stand fitted with height and horizontal adjustments, supported upon a short hexagonal tapered column and four curving pierced legs with folding extended ormolu scroll feet; also with a bespoke made carrying case.
Tumblr media
This instrument was shown at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London and famously recorded in a wood engraved print after the painter C.N. Jarvas, which was reproduced for all posterity by several sources including Dover Books. The instrument was awarded the medal of the council of S.M.D.
The instrument was commissioned from Jose Gallegos by the Duke of Montpensier as a special present for his wife in about 1846. Apparently the maker took a full four years and spent 2000 duros in expense to complete it. The guitar was then taken to Seville and demonstrated in front of the Duke who unfortunately refused to receive or pay for the instrument. It is also alleged after the sale fell through that Gallegos played it twice for Queen Victoria and also gave several successful public concerts in London and New York.

Wait how popular IS Forever in the brazilian mcyt space? I knew he was relatively well known but I didn't know how popular Stonkscraft was, I thought Forever was just some guy even if a known guy :o
So, usually when we talk about the old guard for Brazilian/Portuguese speaking mcyt to refer to the first Minecraft YouTubers, most people use it to talk about like, the big four (Venom, Monark, Feromonas and Leon) and associates (Jarvas, Master, Edu, etc.). They were really popular between like, 2011-early 2014.
However, if we want tor really use old guard for the term meaning, Forever is ALSO old guard (his survival series is only 2 years younger than Minecraft iself), along with Viniccius13 and Davi. They were just a different niche at the time and would take a while for them to really escalate in views and etc. (However, one of Forever's most viewed videos IS from 2012, where he makes a pig meat farm)
He's part of the Redstone Gang which IS well known, even if only by name (Before QSMP I only actually knew Viniccius13 although I never watched him), and it's a very important group of YouTubers for the Brazilian mcyt community.
Between 2019-2021 though, (which explains why I didn't knew him- I wasn't interested in mcyt at the time), that's when Forever really carried the Brazilian mcyt. That's when he started to break entire mountains, build another later, and with stonkscraft in 2020 and he made plenty of content for people to watch during the pandemic. He also appeared Minecraft Live during that time but I don't remember exactly which year. Even before the QSMP, Forever already was the biggest Minecraft streamer in Brazil, the QSMP just made things escalate A LOT because lots of people who weren't interested in Minecraft anymore started to watch it.
Basically, Forever IS really famous in the Brazilian mcyt community, but the reason you're gonna see it more frequently him being less known than the other Brazilian streamers is:
1. Most people saying that only watched mcyt content from between 2011-2015
2. The Redstone Gang has a niche content due do Redstone, so the general public between 2011-2015 has less interest in it
(tbh their public is still kinda niche to this day and it's telling when you remember one of them came out as gay and had to ask in video for people to stop sending hate towards him for that)

Gangland shootings and bombings that have plagued Sweden's biggest cities have spread to quieter suburbs and towns, shattering its reputation as a safe and peaceful nation.
Half an hour north of central Stockholm, Upplands-Bro features lakeside boat clubs, copper-red wooden villas and apartments flanked by pine and spruce trees.
But a 14-year-old boy was found dead in a forest here in August, and since January there have been several shootings and bombings targeting houses and apartments.
"It's awful. We've [been] woken up by explosions in the neighbourhood and it's scary," says 42-year-old Anna Petterson, who lives in Bro and has three children. "It's very much something that we're aware of, and we talk about a lot, and are afraid of."
Sweden has been a European hotspot for gang-related shootings and bombings for several years. But recently the violence has shifted beyond low-income, vulnerable urban areas and police say one reason is that gang members are increasingly targeting rivals' relatives.
Detectives suspect some of the latest violence has been organised by criminal leaders based in other countries, including Turkey and Serbia.
More than 50 people have been killed in shootings so far in 2023, and there have been more than 140 explosions. Last year, more than 60 people died in gun violence, the highest number on record.
"What started out as gun violence between young gangs looking to defend their territory has turned into a vicious circle of firearms trafficking and gun violence," explains Nils Duquet, a firearms researcher based at the Flemish Peace Institute in Brussels.
"Gangs have also matured and are no longer just the street criminals, but are often connected to higher-level criminals as well."
Innocent bystanders are also among the dead.
In September, a 70-year-old man and another man aged 20 were killed in a pub shooting in Sandviken in central Sweden, and a newly graduated teacher, 24, died in an explosion just outside the university city of Uppsala.
Soon afterwards Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson gave a rare national address admitting that "no other country in Europe" was experiencing this sort of situation, and promising tougher penalties for deadly violence.
Evin Cetin, an author and lawyer who has represented teenage shooting victims and suspects, says boys as young as 13 or 14 are being recruited by gangs, often through social media promises of money and designer clothes.
"Children are using their own bags not to carry books, but they carry the drug markets in Sweden on their own shoulders," she tells the BBC on a visit to Upplands-Bro, part of a nationwide schools tour to more than a dozen areas affected by gang crime.
Others are trying to tackle the problem by organising street patrols in areas affected by drugs and violence.
"That we're out and go around chatting with our kids and young people - it increases safety," says Libaane Warsame, during a night walk in Jarva, northern Stockholm, on a wet, windy Friday night.
Jarva looks like a lot of Swedish suburbs, with well-maintained apartment blocks, a few shops, and a nearby forest. The main difference is that it is more multicultural than many neighbourhoods, and it has Stockholm's highest unemployment rate.
Mr Warsame began patrolling the streets after his 19-year-old son - who police say was not in a gang - was killed in a shooting in December 2020.
"It's hard for [young people] to sit at home for hours without any income, any work. So they go out and stand around and there's a big risk that they will be recruited."
He also runs an organisation that supports families who have lost loved ones in deadly violence.
This year there have not been any fatal shootings in Jarva, but many locals say they remain on edge.
"I haven't been outside so late… because I don't want to make my mum worried," says Gizem Kuzucu, 17.
She often spends her evenings studying at Framtidens Hus, a youth centre, and says none of her friends have been in trouble with the law. But she has been exposed to crime on social media.
"I've seen a lot of videos on TikTok [in which] people are, like, talking about crime. They are like saying 'follow me on Instagram, I'm gonna post like a rapper that got killed'."
Another teenager at the youth centre, Libaan, says he grew up around older criminals and "did commit a few crimes" when he was younger.
"Kids here, they are really, really mean to each other…they don't know how to speak about their emotions, so what they do instead is that they lash out," says the 18-year-old.
Swedish police do not currently map gang members' nationalities, but research for the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention in 2021 showed young people born in Sweden to two parents from abroad were overrepresented as suspects in murder cases and robberies.
The right-wing coalition government, elected in September 2022, believes the rise in gang violence in recent years is directly connected to Sweden's earlier immigration policies. Until 2016, it had one of the most generous asylum laws in Europe.
"We can now see that 'outsideship' and lack of integration, in combination with trade of narcotics and organised crime is creating this very, very toxic mixture," Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom told the BBC in September.
The government wants to make it harder for immigrants from outside the European Union to get social benefits, and to make preschool compulsory for children with two foreign parents in some areas, in order to improve Swedish-language skills.
Earlier this year, it became an offence to recruit children to participate in criminal activities. Stop-and-search zones are set to be introduced in early 2024 and ministers want to double prison sentences for offences including gun crimes and explosions.
The BBC was not granted a government interview to discuss these plans, despite multiple requests.
At the state-funded Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, researcher Klara Hradilova-Selin believes tackling gang crime "should have been a more important issue earlier" for previous coalitions on both the right and left of the political spectrum.
"There are colleagues of mine who were actually warning like decades ago [about] this kind of development of growing marginalisation in the deprived areas."
Worries about how gang conflicts are impacting the country's international image are also growing. "Sweden has always been viewed as an extremely safe country. Maybe one of the top safe countries in the world. And this image is falling apart," says Hradilova-Selin.
According to a recent survey for the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, eight out of 10 Swedish companies questioned believe it will get harder to attract foreign talent, investment and visitors due to the ongoing violence.
At Framtidens Hus youth centre, teenagers are being offered the chance to drive, dance and make podcasts. Former criminal Libaan says he would like a job that involves writing, or helping others, but he believes his future is also dependent on how he is treated by other Swedes.
"I don't feel included in the culture even though I'm born here. They kind of see me as this ghetto kid who has no future."

“You are Miss Sinikka, correct? Heiress to the Jarva family fortune?”
Speaking in a clinical tone as she stands out the front of Sinikka’s front door, staring up over the curve of the half-succubi’s enormous heft, Eriss nodded before the behemoth of a woman could respond.
“I believe you recently made a post on one of my company’s promotional material, saying that you wanted to, quote, spend a night alone with the head of this company. So, in an effort to forge business relations, here I am.”
...
She couldn’t be that enormous blob enjoying those candy bars in the commercial, right?
