HOLYOKE — In front of a crowd of 500 guests, including college presidents, faculty, entrepreneurs, and students, three students were selected as the winners of the 16th annual Live Elevator Pitch Competition Thursday at the Grinspoon Entrepreneurship Initiative Annual Banquet. The winners included:
• Alessandra Massa of Mount Holyoke College for MAIA, the first social network that supports female solo travelers looking to stay safe, share experiences, and save money;
• Edward McLeavy of Springfield Technical Community College for E-Z Salter, a fun and easy-to-use tool for salting driveways and walkways; and
• Alyis Woodward of Westfield State University for Woke Pillow, a weight-sensitive alarm-clock pillow that plays music and vibrates and is set with the user’s voice. It can also be set with an app for those who cannot speak well, such as the deaf community.
Representatives from six area banks — Berkshire Bank, Country Bank, PeoplesBank, People’s United Bank, United Bank, and Westfield Bank — once again sponsored the competition at the awards ceremony and banquet for the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation’s Entrepreneurship Initiative. They also served as judges at the annual event.
The live event featured a student representative from each of the 14 participating local colleges. All three received $750. In addition, six student businesses were identified by the bank judges as Best Exhibitors. These were selected from a pool of 65 unique companies during a trade-show-type portion of the evening which featured the 2019 Grinspoon Entrepreneurial Spirit Award winners.
The winning exhibitors were: Grace Buttrick, Autumn Kelly, Cole Peterson, Nicolas Pantorno, and William Hroch of Western New England University for Blink Tek; Christine Clark of Westfield State University for Pespective; Jarrod Coletta and Eric Shilyuk of Western New England University for Bimiitech; Timothy Donahue of Elms College for FitLab Inc.; Eric Grigoryan of Holyoke Community College for GrigCinema; and Matthew Kaplan and Ethan Lazar of UMass Amherst for Costa Brava Cocktails.
The Grinspoon, Garvey & Young Alumni Entrepreneurship Award is presented each year to individuals who have advanced substantially as an entrepreneur since receiving the Grinspoon Spirit Award. Julie Bliss Mullen and Barrett Mully of Aclarity, LLC (UMass Amherst) were winners of the 2019 Alumni Award and $1,000. Aclarity is a water-technology company committed to providing clean, safe water for various applications globally.

Salim moved out.  However, Jarrod and family are still getting woke up by another loud neighbor.  At least, Yuki is apologetic and bows her head in shame.
Tumblr media
Cora agrees to let Jarrod have his adult birthday at their house.  It’s the best party ever.  (I got a gold.)  People danced.  Mila and Deepit are still dancing.  Cake was eaten and good times were had by all.
Tumblr media
Jarrod talks to Cora.  He can see that Cora loves Lucas and Mila is good people, so Jarrod gives his blessing.

Sims Tag
cantseemtohide tagged me.  I am not tagging anyone else.  It feels too much like chain letter, but feel free to answer the below questions, if the mood hits you.
1. what is the first sims game you ever played?
Sims 3
2. what is the first sims game you bought?
Sims 3 Pets.  My son had Sims 3 and his friends had several gamepacks, so I played the game for awhile before I bought my own expansion packs.
3. what is the last sims game you bought?
Sims 4 Get Famous.
4. what sims game are you currently playing?
TS4
5. what is your favourite world?
Brindleton Bay.  I love the dunes, the lots and the weather.  Brindeton Bay is beautiful in the fall and winter.
6. who is your favourite pre-made family?
The Munches, I suppose.  With three children and a single mother, there is always so many things you can do with them.  In my previous simblr story, one of my original characters married Lucas Munch.  Mila ended up remarrying and having more children.  Three boys - that’s drama not matter how you slice it.
7. what packs do you wish you had in your game?
The new one when its released!
8. who is your favourite sim you made?
Jarrod Donahue.  The founder of my last story.  He was a bro and wanted to be a joke star.  He was also a single dad and loved how he bought pizza for the children almost every night.  Once he was so lonely he had the pizza delivery person stay and chat.
.9. how many years have you been playing the sims?
About 4 years.  It was right after Sims 4 did the gender thing.  My son got into the Sims, again, since he is transgender and he was very happy to be included in gameplay.  I played his old Sims 3 game since the discs weren't being used.  I refused to play Sims 4 until toddlers were added since toddlers were my favorite life stage in Sim 3.  By the way, I love Sims 4 toddlers.
10. when did you start your simblr? Three years ago.  I did a gameplay with the Crumplebottom sisters from Sims 3.  I love magic.  When are witches coming to Sims 4?  Soon I hope.

First Molly, then her dad.  Why is everyone so concerned with Cora’s growing waistline?   She owns a bakery.  She is going to sample some of the pastries.  Just to shut her dad up, Cora joins Powerhouse.  What she really wants to do with her free time is watch a bunch of sweaty old men exercise, not!
Tumblr media
After hanging up Amaya’s fall decorations on the house, Cora decides to go to the park with her family before the snow comes.
Tumblr media
Corey and Shane talk like pirates on talk like a pirate day.  All men are little boys at heart.  Cora likes seeing her boys getting along.
Tumblr media
After eating their charcoal-grilled hamburgers while watching sports, they go back outside.

Shane pushes Yumiko on the swing.  How romantic!

But mind-controlling a child is a bit too far.
Tumblr media
Mind-controlled Kabir starts cleaning the party mess.  However, he leaves the mess he made on the floor untouched.  Funny that!

Jarrod hasn’t visited Coraline’s house in a long time.  He hasn’t meet Amaya and he hasn’t seen Yumiko since Tetsuo’s birthday.  Amaya is taking advantage of all the adult attention to show off.
Tumblr media
Jarrod gets to know his granddaughter-in-law.  The poor thing just lost both her parents.  Yumiko adores Lucas and Coraline.  Coraline is like a mother to her.  Jarrod is happy to hear that.
Tumblr media
Tetsuo talks about school to Jarrod while Amaya stares at the funny man with gray hair and a big nose.
Tumblr media
Gracie, the dog, and Amaya watch Tetsuo and Jarrod play chess.

Yumiko and Shane have a backyard wedding at Shane’s house.
Tumblr media
Shane gives Yumiko the first slice of wedding cake.
Tumblr media
Who is that lady in red?  The mother of the groom, Coraline Donahue.  She thanks her father for coming in such short notice.  The only member of Yumiko’s family to attend was Yumiko’s mother.  Cora plans to help her new daughter-in-law adjust to married life.
Tumblr media
Shane got a fellowship - working at the science center while attending college.  However, since he will not be making much money as a junior tinker, they need to live at his parents home.
