Arranged marriage chapter 5: “Honeymoon”
Summary: being a popular model isn't enough for Y/n’s parents so they decided to get her married with a 6’1”, protective male who is also a mafia, all the secrets and lies everyone kept from her will soon come into the light, what happens once the truth comes out?
Yunho x Reader
Word Count: 850
Genre: series Mafia au!, Smut, Fluff, Angst, Media au!
Warnings: murder, graphic violence, kidnapping, cursing
Updates: Probably Thursday at 7pm BST
I asked Yunho sarcastically, "I thought married couples go somewhere alone for honeymoons," and he responded, "It's just for today doll, our honeymoon is tomorrow." I rolled my eyes at him for calling me doll, but since he's now my husband, I nodded. I didn't want to go on a honeymoon with this man, I barely know him. He helped while we were driving to my house to get my clothes for the honeymoon.
"Your dad told your manager about our honeymoon, so you don’t need to model today" Yunho stated, "but I have to model." "Wait, my dad spoke to Harin, and he didn't call me?" I ask him, perplexed. I glanced at him and realised he was lying about my dad talking to Harin. "Harin. Do you mean the person who witnessed me swap with his wife?” His glance at me confirmed my concerns that it was a lie.
"Ok let me call him right now" Yunho grabbed my arm in which I was holding my phone, our gazes locked, and he snatched my phone and performed something with it, asking, "What are you doing?" "Call me whenever you feel unsafe or if you need anything" "why would I feel unsafe?" I looked at him, still holding my phone, as he said, "It's just to keep you safe." I nodded, and as soon as we arrived at Yunho's house, Yunho's guys placed my things in a room.
"Where are you gonna sleep?" "And where am I going to sleep?" he asked, pointing to this bed. He pointed to the bed and said, "right here" I laughed a little, believing he was joking, but I could see the sincerity in his face "were married doll, we're not gonna sleep in separate rooms"
“Yunho I barely know you” “come on go get your pajamas on” Yunho took his shirt off making me cover my face and turned around “what are you doing!!” “I’m getting changed” “yeah, in front of me” “you’re my wife” he grabbed my shoulders and turned me around he took my hand away from my eyes so I could see him “keep your eyes on me doll” he kissed me and I look at him in complete shock. “WHY DID YOU KISS ME!!” He looks at me smiling “can’t I kiss my wife?” I push him off me and went into the bathroom and got changed.
As soon as I walked back out Yunho was sat on the bed looking at me “Y/n what happened on your birthday” my mood changed “did Hyunjin tell you” he nodded telling me how he just said that I forgot stuff. “Can you tell me what happened?” He beckoned me to come sit with him so I did hut I kept a distance, “when I was 19 I got hit by a car and hit my head on the concrete, they thought I was gonna die since I lost a lot of blood but I just lost my memory and tried to get as much of it back.” I didn’t want to talk about it anymore so I decided to just fall asleep, Yunho sighed and lied down aswell.
The next day we woke up and we were on our way to Japan, it was just gonna be me and him, we went to Osaka and it was beautiful, I knew some Japanese so I was the one who told the register about the booking. We got into the hotel room and i look at the scenery since it’s so pretty.
“Are you ok?” I nodded, walking towards the door and looking back at Yunho “are you coming or no” Yunho walked out with me and we went on a date, we went to a restaurant and I felt uncomfortable because right behind me and Yunho was 3 buff body guards, “what’s up doll, are you ready to order?” “Yunho why are there body guards here!?” “It’s just for protection doll, there’s no need to worry.”
I nodded knowing that he could protect me anyway, I just didn’t want my first date to look like this “Y/n I’m a huge fan can, I get your signature?” The body guards pulled him away “yeah sure” I put my arms out to get the photocard from him we were speaking Japanese so Yunho couldn’t understand what I was saying, I sign the photo card and smiled at the fan as he said thank you “is he your husband?” “Yes” I smile and nodded as Yunho looked jealous and ignored the fan, the fan walked away after thanking me one last time.
“You didn’t have to be so rude to my fan” “I didn’t even do anything” “exactly” I pointed out as he was just ignoring the nice fan. “Be nice next time” Yunho just kept a straight face and looked at the menu “what do you what to get doll?” “Can you even speak Japanese?” Yunho fries and I nodded knowing the answer. “How do you know to speak Japanese?” “Setsuna” “she taught us all Japanese” we ordered our food and we were just talking.

BST has translated the first part of the event, "Memory Drops"!
"I pretty much have not reviewed this yet, but I have chores that need to be done after this event sucked me in, so I'm dropping this here! Enjoy your wholesome Christmas horror!"
I'm really excited to read this. <3
Remember, you don't need to know Japanese to help review! A second pair of eyes to look things over and check for grammar/spelling mistakes (or even to say "hey this part sounds a little strange and might need another look") is EXTREMELY helpful!

[BSTS] Main Story S5CH7 ‘Wait and Hope’ - Final
Part 2
Tumblr media
Chapter 5
-old starless, stage-
yoshino: .......
kasumi: What're you doing in a place like this~?
Tumblr media
yoshino: ...! Oh, Kasumi, why are you...
kasumi: With a complicated expression on your face, you walked all the way here to the old Starless building. How could I not be curious? So, what's wrong?
yoshino: It's nothing...
kasumi: Reminiscing about the past?
yoshino: I guess so. To me this place is like my own Château d'If.
kasumi: ...? Are you referencing the original text of your show?
yoshino: Yeah. In the final stages of the story, Dantès revisits the prison he'd been trapped in. And there, he once again engraves Faria’s words into his heart... I wanted to confirm whether or not this place is that kind of place to me. I was wondering how I felt when I first came here. Back then, nothing was going my way, but I didn't give up... I wonder why.
kasumi: You kept facing challenges that were too big for you to handle.
yoshino: You don't sugar-coat your words huh... But, you may be right. Do you remember? A while ago, I spoke about how I wish I could sing honestly and express myself without holding back, like Heath does?
kasumi: When we spoke about living ones life at 0 or 100 yeah?
yoshino: Back then, you said that some people have no choice but to choose 100. I'm still envious of that even now... Since it's a way of life I could never live.
kasumi: .......
yoshino: In the past, I wasn't able to sing, I'd get lightheaded in front of a crowd... And then, once I was finally able to sing properly, the very opportunity for me to sing was nearly stolen from me. Both in the past, and even now... I've just been struggling this whole time.
kasumi: That may be so, but, you never ran away from those struggles, did you?
Tumblr media
yoshino: That's because— I didn't want to give up.
kasumi: Is that so? I'm not a singer myself so I'm not sure if my words will mean much but... The past is the past and the present is the present. Because you're who you are now, there are more songs that you can sing.
yoshino: Because I'm who I am now...? I was always looking for validation... To do so I thought I needed to be stronger...
-yoshino seems to realise something-
yoshino: I'm going to head back to the store.
kasumi: Ok. I should get back too, I need to help Unei-kun out.
yoshino: And yet you still chased me all the way out here. You're surprisingly interested in other people’s business.
kasumi: We wouldn't want something happening to the singer of our current show now would we?
yoshino: True, that would be no laughing matter.

Chapter 5 extra
-starless lobby-
takami: Thank you for your patronage once again today. Was the show to your liking?
yoshino's father: I will be judgin’ the show based on how successful it is as a fellow businessman.
takami: I'm happy to hear that.
yoshino's father: However I will not praise the singin’. As the pivotal point of the show, that lacklustre performance is not enough to convince me.
takami: Is that so?
yoshino's father: ...Though, compared to the first day it has improved somewhat. The final show is soon approachin’, I look forward to seein’ what he'll do about it.
takami: Thank you for your valuable feedback. We will await your next visit.
-yoshino's father leaves-
takami: What a strict person he is.
Tumblr media
-starless office-
sinju: Welcome back! We didn't have enough flyers left so I'll restock them.
takami: Yes, thank you.
sinju: Oh by the way, were you talking to that older man in Japanese clothes?
takami: Yes, for a bit whilst I was seeing him off. Is there something you're concerned about?
sinju: That man keeps visiting us but he always has a really stern expression on his face. However, today he looked like he was in a better mood!
sin: You're able to perceive such a change?
sinju: It's just a hunch! I hope he can enjoy his time here at Starless. I'll take these flyers out now.
-sinju leaves-
sin: What impression does that man with the snow white eyebrows hold within?
takami: The shows aren't to his taste. However, if the guests enjoy it then it appears he doesn't outright disapprove of them.
sin: Weighing like and dislike can cloud even the clearest of waters. The king of the Shang dynasty does not forget to keep an eye on the bigger picture.
takami: It's to be expected from the owner of such a long established business. His thoughts on Yoshino's singing specifically is a different story though.
sin: Whether or not the red bird takes flight depends on the strength of the wind. It has no choice but to clear the fog or make its appeal.
—end

Chapter 5 SideA
-starless lobby-
-gui peeks into the restaurant area-
gui: ...Yoshino?
yoshino: .......
-lobby-
gui: He's cleaning...? It's not time for his shift yet though.
rindou: What are you looking at?
gui: Yoshino. He's cleaning the restaurant floor.
rindou: Aah. I guess it is strange to see him start his shift early.
gui: Yeah. Why did he do that?
rindou: Probably because it makes him happy to imagine the
guest's excited faces when they arrive.
gui: Isn't that the same thing that you've said once before?
rindou: You have a good memory. It probably is.
gui: The guest's excited faces...
-time pass, starless restaurant area-
-applause-
female guest 1: Hey hey, don't you think Yoshino-kun's singing had more depth to it today?
female guest 2: I know what you mean! Just listening to it made my own heart hurt!
saki: (Yoshino-san's singing really was amazing... I feel like I've been overhearing the guest's talking about Yoshino-san more and more recently too.)
maica: I've brought you a new drink, Saki. I'll leave it here for you.
saki: Thank you.
maica: Are you enjoying the show?
saki: Of course. Especially Yoshino-san's singing, it has a real edge to it tonight.
maica: ...Yeah. It gave me goosebumps. It was as if he'd taken everyone's anguish and carried it on his back. I didn't know Yoshino was capable of expressing something like that.
saki: Yes. I was completely captivated by Dantès.
-yoshino walks up-
saki: Good job on the show, Yoshino-san. It was wonderful.
yoshino: Thank you, Saki-san.
saki: (Somehow Yoshino-san looks really relaxed today.)
yoshino: Did you enjoy my singing?
saki: Of course. It was great.
yoshino: I'm glad. It was because I was watching the smile on your face.
Tumblr media

Chapter 5 SideA extra
-locker room-
yakou: The audience's reaction to our show today was amazing wasn't it?
yoshino: I think it's the best show I've put on so far.
yakou: Honestly, your performance was so good I felt like I was falling behind.
yoshino: Thanks.
yakou: I could hear that your singing had changed, does that mean you found your answer?
yoshino: I don't really want to admit it but... For a long time now, I think my goal had just been to gain approval.
yakou: Through your singing, huh?
yoshino: I pushed away my obligations and compared myself to other singers. However now I've realised that... I don't think that was my own way of singing.
yakou: I see.
yoshino: That's why, these struggles aren't just going to disappear. But rather than hide them, I think I need to express myself instead.
yakou: I think I understand what you mean.
yoshino: Of course, I don't mean I should just vent whatever I'm feeling, but rather I need to make the struggle and frustration my own, and use those feelings to make my singing resound even more beautifully.
yakou: I see... Kei and Ginsei's judgment was correct after all then.
Tumblr media
yoshino: Ginsei's?
yakou: The one who recommended you to be this show's singer from the very start was Ginsei.
yoshino: W-what? But why...?
yakou: Because your voice suits the original text of our show, that's what he told Kei right to his face
yoshino: I-Is that so... In a way, Ginsei doesn't back down from his beliefs either, huh.
yakou: You said it.
—end
-
Chapter 5 SideB
-break room-
ginsei: Thanks for coming to watch us again today, Princess. Did you like the show?
saki: Yes. You all seemed so lively this time.
ginsei: I got really into the show today actually.
saki: Yeah, it had an impressive atmosphere to it that wasn't present before.
ginsei: Yeah exactly. Especially Yoshino, the way he sung matched how I envisioned the script perfectly.
sotetsu: Meaning the real show is about to begin now hm?
ginsei: ...Are you up to something again?
sotetsu: Of course not. As always I just want to see some entertainment.
ginsei: I don't really get it, but keep whatever it is in moderation.
saki: Ahaha...
ginsei: You're going to head him now right, Princess? I need to get back to work sadly...
sotetsu: Don't worry, I'll escort her. Let's go, Saki.
ginsei: Be careful getting home. See you tomorrow.
-time pass, street, night-
sotetsu: So, what did you really think about tonight's show?
saki: Everyone's acting along with Yoshino-san's singing really moved me, it was amazing.
sotetsu: Ooh? Which part in particular impressed you?
saki: The scene's between Kei-san and Yoshino-san... Their conversations were so impactful, it made my heart race.
sotetsu: I see I see. In that case it was worth giving him that push.
saki: ...Are you talking about Yoshino-san?
sotetsu: Yeah.
saki: Kei-san had said that some members of the team had vouched for him... Could it be you were one of them, Sotetsu-san?
sotetsu: Correct.
saki: I see... But why did you do that?
sotetsu: ...I'm not so sure myself.
Tumblr media
saki: ...?
sotetsu: Anyways, I'm sure you're looking forward to hearing how he'll sing in the closing show. Enjoy yourself until the final curtain closes, alright?
—end

Chapter 5 SideB extra
-starless restaurant area-
hinata: Aah... It's over... I'm so tried, I can't move another muscle...
lico: Drama queen.
hinata: I'm being serious! There's been so many guests visiting this show... Wait actually, where's Saki-san?
taiga: She went home ages ago.
hinata: Whaaat! But I wanted to walk to the station with her~
mizuki: You're weak as shit so that ain't happening.
hinata: Hey what's that supposed to mean?
lico: Public safety isn't too great in this area. Do you think we just let anyone walk her home? There's all sorts of weirdos that loiter around out here.
hinata: Oh~ I did get told about that! That this area is super dangerous~
heath: .......
taiga: Speaking of... Well, I wouldn't call him shady but... What's up with that old guy who keeps visiting lately?
lico: Who knows.
hinata: Oh yeah, you mean that out of place looking old guy? I wonder what he keeps visiting for.
mizuki: Were the bad reviews his doing?
taiga: Oh yeah... Kongou was worried about needing to change the menu.
heath: That man...
mizuki: Huh? You know him, Heath?
heath: Not at all. It's just, his colour resembles how mine used to look.
—end
(note: Heath means that Yoshino’s father’s colour looks like how his was when his health wasn’t good.)
-
Chapter 6
-starless hallway-
saki: (It was an amazing show all the way up until the end... I want to congratulate Yoshino-san on the successful performance, but I'm not sure where he went...?)
-behind starless, night-
saki: (He's speaking with his father...? I shouldn't eavesdrop...)
yoshino: ...What did you think of the show?
yoshino's father: First, congratulations on makin’ it to the closin’ show. It was a good performance.
yoshino: ...! T-thank you very much.
Tumblr media
yoshino's father: Good 'art' should be properly evaluated as such.
yoshino: Yes...
yoshino's father: I understand your resolve, however our time on this earth is finite. You can't just spend it deliberatin’ forever. So what ya should do is settle how you feel and come back home once you're done— That's what I'm tryin’ to say.
yoshino: (holds back a laugh)
yoshino: I think this is the first time you've spoken to me like this.
yoshino's father: I'll be headin’ home now.
yoshino: Yes. Thank you for coming and watching Team K's show.
-yoshino bows as his father leaves-
yoshino: ...I'll sing until the very end. Even if that's just my ego talking.
-yoshino goes to leave but spots saki-
yoshino: ...! Saki-san, you were here?
saki: Yes, um...
yoshino: Thank you for watching over me until the closing show. Since we're already outside, allow me to escort you home.
-in front of starless, night-
yoshino: Thank you again for coming to see the show tonight.
saki: No worries...
yoshino: I hope you were satisfied with it.
saki: Of course. It was a performance that touched my heart.
yoshino: It means the world to hear you say that. (yoshino glances up) It won't be long before it's cherry blossom season huh.
Tumblr media
saki: Hm...?
yoshino: Whenever I look at Starless' signboard like this, I remember the past. And the way it makes me feel changes each time I look up at it. I wonder how many more times I'll be able to see the cherry blossoms bloom in Tokyo...
saki: Yoshino-san...
yoshino: It's special to me after all. Since my stage name is based on the yoshino cherry.
saki: I think that it's a name that really suits you.
yoshino: Fufu, that makes me happy. I'll have to keep giving it my all. So that, like the yoshino cherries, I can bloom beautifully and scatter beautifully afterwards... However, right now I'm still far from being in full bloom. So until that time comes, please continue to watch over me.

EX 1
-starless office-
unei: Hm? Yakou-san isn't here? We had a meeting scheduled...
taiga: Yakou ran out of here in a hurry. He got a call from the hospital and said he needed to go right away.
unei: Ah...
hari: Is the situation ok? Yakou too, did he look distressed?
unei: N-no way...!
-time pass, office-
yakou: Apologies for calling you all here whilst you're busy.
saki: (I wonder what happened...?)
kei: Begin.
yakou: Haseyama has had a no visitors policy placed on him. We won't be allowed to visit him for the time being.
unei: Oh no...
saki: Haseyama-san...
rindou: Is that so? I had thought his condition was looking stable though.
mokuren: That's all? I'm returning to training then.
unei: A-are you guys really not worried about him...?
kokuyou: You're asking that now?
mizuki: Kouichi should just return to being owner already.
kei: Either way, what it is that we must do has not changed. Put on the highest quality of shows, that is all... Are you content with that, Yakou?
yakou: Yes.
-leaders all leave-
yakou: Sorry for startling you with the news, Saki-san. You too, Unei-kun...
saki: No, it's ok...
unei: What is going to happen now?
yakou: I'm not sure, but all we can do for now is keep at it.
-unei and saki leave-
yakou: ...Just what is he thinking?
Tumblr media
—end
-
EX 2
-behind starless, day-
sotetsu: Yo.
kei: On another reconnaissance mission?
sotetsu: I'm just confirming the result. We made a deal, remember?
kei: There's nothing to confirm. Everything went as you said it would. There's nothing more to discuss.
sotetsu: As I said, things got interesting right?
kei: It is true that the show eventually reached my desired level by the end. I shall recognise at least that.
sotetsu: You can just compliment him honestly y'know. Welp, since I won the bet that means I have no need to apologise.
kei: I do not care. It was you who started this bet of your own accord.
sotetsu: Oh right, did Haseyama's condition take a turn for the worst? Unei-kun has been all over the place.
kei: Apparently so. I don't know any further details either.
sotetsu: I see. Well, means we can't just be taking it easy then huh?

EX 3
-behind starless, evening-
aogiri: Hm...?
suspicious man: .......
aogiri: Do you have business with our store? If so I'd be happy to help you.
suspicious man: .......
-man runs off-
aogiri: That behaviour is practically begging to be called suspicious.
-street, evening-
suspicious man: .......
aogiri: ....... (following the man)
-alleyway, evening-
ran: What's this~? If it isn't Aogiri. Heyo~
suspicious man: !
-man runs off-
aogiri: ......
Tumblr media
mizuki: Oi, what's a guy like you doin' here?
aogiri: Mizuki, Ran. There was a man I hadn't seen visit before hanging around the back entrance of Starless... When I tried talking to him he ran off in a hurry, so I couldn't help but be curious.
ran: And so ya were tailin' him? You've got guts! Did no one tell ya that this area is dangerous though?
aogiri: Ah, now that you mention it, yes. It must have slipped my mind.
ran: Looks like ya got lucky this time, but be careful yeah?
aogiri: I wouldn't want to get caught up in a fight scene like you see in movies. I shall proceed with caution from now on. Thank you very much for the warning.
-aogiri leaves-
mizuki: What's up with that guy?
-park, evening-
-phone rings-
iwami (on phone): Oh, it's you. What is it? He's not allowed any visitors, right?
iwami (on phone): Hmm? Well that's troublesome ain't it? No, I'm worried for him, I swear.
iwami (on phone): Oh by the way, Hinata. I have a little favour that I'd like to ask of you…

❤️🌟Meet the woman fusing the traditional Japanese Obi with the Palestinian tatreez❤️🌟
By Indlieb Farazi Saber 5 July 2021 09:41 BST
Designer Maki Yamamoto is on a mission to establish a special relationship between the two cultures
Maki Yamamoto has spent the last eight years trying to reframe how Palestinians are seen in her native land of Japan.
Her weapon of choice is the Palestinian Embroidery Obi Project, which fuses the traditional Japanese obi, a wide fabric sash wrapped around the waist to secure kimonos in place, and Palestinian embroidery, known as tatreez.
The project is a collaboration between the Japanese designer and Palestinian women living in refugee camps in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip, who hand stitch intricate designs into the obis. Although no one is willing to disclose how much is being paid, Yamamoto says, “They get paid the price they ask for. It’s a totally fair trade.”
Describing the process of producing the garments, “It all depends on the design,” she says.
“Obi with full tatreez can take five months to embroider. If tatreez is small, embroidery takes a month or so. After the tatreez is finished, the material is brought to Japan where a Japanese kimono tailor finishes the piece and creates the
obi.”
‘Supporting the Palestinian people’
Yamamoto set up the project after travelling to Palestine in 2013 as part of a cultural exchange trip organised by the Palestinian Authority.
“I have Palestinian friends living in Japan and we’ve known each other for over 15 years so I knew Palestinians have beautiful costumes and embroidery.
“But I decided to support Palestinian people after my first visit.”
Yamamoto, who is also a pharmacologist, says there is considerable sympathy for the Palestinian plight within Japan - at least relative to Western states.
The Japanese government officially supports a two state solution along 1967 borders, calls for a “fair” resolution to the Palestinian refugee issue and opposes Israel’s unilateral annexation of occupied East Jerusalem. According to Yamamoto, media sympathy in Japan also generally tilts towards the Palestinians.
Mohamed Shokeir, a contributing writer for The Arab, a quarterly digest on Japan-Arab relations says: “Shinzo Abe [former Japanese prime minister] has generally been sympathetic with the Palestinians and not the Israelis.
“Palestinians are seen as weak and deprived of their land by a more powerful, better armed people. So the Japanese have been more open and welcoming to Palestinians.”
Despite this sympathy for the Palestinian cause, it was Yamamoto’s visit to the occupied territories and her experience while there of the “resilience” and “warm hospitality” of the Palestinian people that made her want to turn sympathy into some form of direct action.
Yamamoto’s PhD at Tokyo's University of Agriculture and Technology, which she started after her visit in 2020,  focuses on Palestinian embroidery and the economic independence of Palestinian farmers and refugee women.
She says she wants to shine a “positive light” on Palestine and on Arab people more generally.
"It's a matter of basic human rights", she says. "Palestinians living in certain parts of the West Bank are surrounded by illegal Israeli settlements, and blockade of Gaza. They cannot work freely, they cannot live freely."
“Palestinian people and refugees are in a hard situation, but that’s not everything.
“Embroidery artisans in refugee camps create beautiful things despite severe living conditions. I wanted to show Japan the beauty and resilience of Palestine.”
Tatreez as identity
In 2014, Yamamoto began collaborating with The Society of Inash al Usra (Revival of the Family), a Palestinian NGO, to identify embroiderers and artisans in the occupied West Bank to work with.  Since then she has visited Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories more than 17 times and now also works with Palestinian embroiderers in the besieged Gaza strip.
Dawlat Abu Shaweesh is one of thirty women from the Al-Amari refugee camp near the town of Al-Bireh, who having learnt the craft from her mother at the age of 10, hand stitches intricate crisscross designs onto the obi sashes.
“You have to have sharp vision to see, and you need patience, it’s difficult to do.
“For Palestinians, tatreez is our hawiyah, our identity. When you ask someone to hold up a photo ID card with their details, that’s what tatreez is to us."
'To know our tatreez will be taken to Japan, and through it they will know about our culture and history, makes me really happy' - Dawlat Abu Shaweesh, Palestinian embroiderer
Neither Abu Shaweesh nor Yamamoto see the tatreez obis as cultural appropriation, but rather a fusion of cultures. The tatreez is stitched authentically by Palestinian women who say they are paid well for their work, and who are proud to stitch traditional Japanese clothes with their nation's motifs.
Now 52, Abu Shaweesh says she is happy to share her Palestinian “culture and history” with Japan.
“I don’t know of anything that’s more beautiful than tatreez stitching, and to know our tatreez will be taken to Japan, and through it they will know about our culture and history, makes me really happy."
Once pandemic travel restrictions are lifted, Abu Shaweesh and a handful of Palestinian women will be travelling to Tokyo as part of a cultural exchange programme organised by Yamamoto.
‘Natural’ pairing
According to Yamamoto, there is nothing novel about incorporating non-Japanese influences into kimono and obi designs. She explains that there is a long tradition of other cultures leaving their mark on the iconic Japanese dress and it is therefore “natural” to incorporate tatreez embroidery into the obi.
“I am familiar with traditional Japanese culture and the origin of the kimono, although today many aren’t and wonder how I came up with some of my ideas,” she says.
“The kimono has been influenced by neighbouring countries since the Silk Road era. Most kimonos are made with silk material and the silk weaving techniques came down from China.
“Many patterns or textiles from Silk Road countries have been used for kimono, like the popular ‘Blue Wave’ kimono pattern that originated in Persia.”
Yamamoto says Uzbek Suzani embroidery, Indonesian Batik and African printed fabric have all been used to transform the kimono and the obi with no objection from kimono wearers.
Mariko Akimoto is one such kimono enthusiast, with a collection of more than 20 obis, some plain and some with designs.
The Tokyo-based engineer received her first kimono when she was just three, and with her love for traditional wear cultivated by her mother, she soon started buying and collecting her own.
Kimonos were once worn as a daily outfit in Japan but are now usually reserved for special occasions.
The appeal of Yamamoto tatreez obis is not just limited to the design, the manner in which they are made is also attractive to potential buyers.
“I always try to choose ‘fair-trade’ fashion,” Akimoto says, which to her means clothes that have been sourced and made ethically.
An internet search for "fair-trade kimono" led her to the Palestinian Embroidery Obi Project, where she learnt about the tatreez emroidered obis.
She contacted Yamamoto to learn more about the initiative and bought the first of her two tatreez obis - a plain burnt orange sash woven along one side with a colourful tatreez design.
“The design appealed to me, but purchasing obi is not an easy decision because it’s not a casual price.
“But after I heard how the Palestinian women who stitched the obis were then able to put their kids through college, I was extremely impressed and I decided to purchase it.”
The starting cost of one of these tailor-made tatreez obis is around $1,000 (¥108,000) and can sometimes be double that, depending on the design.
A second-hand cotton kimono with an obi belt included can cost as little as $10 (1,085 yen), with better quality ones - depending on the length and the quality of the fabric - costing up to $10,000 (1,085,000 yen), and bespoke designs surpassing this figure further still.
Akimoto says: “I’m not used to explaining what I wear to others, as I don’t like people to think I’m saying my clothes are more special than theirs.
“The tatreez obis are pretty unique, so when I’m asked about one of them I get the chance to explain how it was made, and how buying one supports women in Palestine.”

Note
do all multiples of 5 for the ask game^^
Oooh thanks for asking hehe :3
5. what color are your eyes?
Green! Though depending on the light they can look a bit more blue I'm told, not that I can easily tell since I'm pretty colourblind hehe :p
10. would you slaughter the rich?
Absolutely :3
15. are you a parent? (all answers qualify)
Nope, though I'm a fairly recent aunt for about a year and a half now ^^
20. do you say soda or pop?
Worse, I say 'fizzy drink' lol
25. perfume/body spray or lotion?
Ough well I don't particularly use any of the above but I'd like some nice perfume, there's a very particular scent that's slightly spiced and slightly herbal that I love but have no idea what exactly it is so it's hard to search for lol
30. is there dishes in your room?
Nope! Hehe if I'm eating in here I generally just use a kitchen paper towel instead of a plate :p
35. what’s your timezone?
GMT/BST+1! Was very inconvenient when I was supposed to be taking online classes from a Japanese university on a year abroad plan, since I would've had to completely invert my waking days to match 8 hours later, which I was unable to do ;w;
40. did you have any snacks today?
Not yet exactly, though I did have sweet snack pastries for lunch :p I'm not a big lunch person generally so eating anything is better than nothing lol
45. can you remember what happened yesterday?
Yeah, not much hehe :p Played lots of ffxiv and some wizardry!
50. can i tag you in random stuff?
Sure hehe :p

3:18am (BST) 14th december 2023
i met my ex for coffee today. the nice one, not the ones from school. it was good to see him. we were never really meant to be - but we work great as friends. he's kind. he sees with eyes and a mind that no one else i know does. he understands so deeply - and yearns to if he doesn't. he has piercing blue eyes and curly ginger hair that never really knows what it's doing. turns out we've been in the same city at uni for over a year now. his ears are pierced now. he has a cool green paisley sort of silk scarf. with that and his coat off he looks just the same as i knew him before though.
we broke up because my grandfather died. i didn't know how to deal with it. i already had bad mental health issues. it broke me a bit. a lot. once i went to this christian youth festival with my youth group and this kid a year younger than me said that i would undergo transformation, specifically like the art of kintsugi. you know, that japanese thing where they fix broken pots and stuff with liquid gold? my cracks and breaks would be sewn together with gold, they said. they didn't lie - i don't think.
i think the first evidence of that was when my grandad died. through my cracks and grief, a burning passion leaked through and made me stand up for myself for the first time. i realised the relationship wasn't right for me - it just immediately felt wrong, like a skin i had to shed or i'd have to live in it forever. mind you, i didn't deal with it right, i didn't have the wisdom or courage that i do now. not that i'm wise, or courageous. i changed my clothes too. my birthday rolled around and my now-partner gave me an amazon gift card so i bought the cheapest makeup i could find. i went thrifting and bought clothes that make me feel like a human being (and maybe a little bit cool).
that didn't help my mental health though - it didn't make it worse - but it didn't like, improve things. i was still a mess. i still drank at school for the next year and a half. i didn't trust anyone. i still don't trust anyone. i'd like to. my ex didn't see me much at all after we broke up. we met up for coffee after 5ish months... and then i ghosted him (again) (having just told him i'd be up for being friends). yeah not a great move morally. still keeps me up at night sometimes.
my partner didn't mind us meeting for coffee today (boyfriends sometimes do apparently). he didn't really show any opinion. he doesn't often, without me begging for it a bit. i ask the question 3 times for a response, you stare vacantly at me, fake an answer, i ask if you're sure. repeat. so yeah - i did miss my ex. i missed connection and a friend and things to talk about. he was always good to talk to. empathy levels off the charts. don't worry, i'm not gonna try and go back to him - i don't want to. i just need friends, and he's a good one. and my relationship isn't as bad as i make it sound lol but my boyfriend does know i'm not happy in it right now.
i did other things today too. i went pottery painting with the art society. one of the things i painted is for my sister. i hope she likes it. no idea if she will though. i got a sports bra from a charity shop (it's really comfy). i got a turtleneck from another charity shop (i've been really wanting one to wear under dresses [summer dresses can be for winter too]). and i got some uniqlo sports leggings from another reallllyyyy good charity shop. very good price (£6!!!!!! in 2023??? crazytown). i've been wanting to try and exercise a bit. for my brain more than for my body.
i should go to bed now. woke up at 10am this morning but now it's 3am. oh i did yoga too!! just felt like it. i have a creaky unused lil conker of a skeleton. she needed stretching wayyyy more than i realised. it was supposed to be relaxing meditation yoga but it make me a bit more stressed bc i couldn't stretch ffs. was fun anyway. it was for me. today was for me. it was taylor swifts birthday too today the swift society had a birthday party lol. it was fun. i made a terrible friendship bracelet with my own name on it. i won a prize. i was first on the kahoot for a bit. i'm not even that much of a swiftie. i think a girl flirted with me a tiny bit there? idk she probably didn't but i hope i'm right. i hope. i have hope right now. today was for me. night night.

Note
It’s way passed time we normalize not everyone loving every song bts puts out or features on or who they feature on their songs. It’s personal taste/preference. Kind of like Yoongi wanting to open a makchang restaurant. I support him to do what he wants 100% but as a vegetarian I am not interested in eating pig rectum, so I’d pass. 🤷‍♀️
Also speaking my truth…BOGOSHIPDA. I skip Spring Day. The background melody is like an ear worm and anytime I listed to it I always wake up in the middle of the night with it stuck in my head like an excessively loud radio I can’t turn down. I skip Spring Day. I feel better getting that off my chest.
I also sometimes skip BST and Fake Love. I also always skip Jamais Vu. They get stuck in my head and I get annoyed with them.
I also always skip any of their Japanese ballads like Your Eyes Tell or Film Out. But that’s because they without fail make me cry.
it's not even something that's long overdue, because this is a completely normal thing to do but apparently a (relatively large) portion of the fandom cannot accept it when you don't worship the ground that the boys walk on. if you don't like every single that they put out then well, guess what! you're the fucking antichrist! oh, you don't like this one song from this one member? you hate him. YOU HATE HIM SO MUCH. you despise who he is as a person! you can't stand to see him be happy!
sorry i kinda hijacked your ask but i'm heated lol 😂
and yes film out and your eyes tell supremacy 🙌

[BSTS] Heath White Day 5* Card Story
last chapter got me like 💘
Tumblr media
chapter 1 -break room-
ran: I’m boooored. Seriously bored, so bored I’m gonna die. C’mon Heath, don’t just sit there writin’ songs, hang out with me or somethin’.
heath: …We can play shiritori if you want.
ran: Uwah, no way I’m doin’ that! I’d have no chance of winnin’.
heath: Hm? Sin and Takami?
sin: Have the offerings been prepared? Those who neglect the devil’s feast shall be dragged down to the depths of hell.
ran: As usual, I have no idea what ya tryin’ to say, Sin.
takami: It appears Team B are in charge of white day this year hm? Sin and I are both interested to see what kind of event it will be.
sin: Even in a place that lacks starlight, devil’s can still dance at a feast.
heath: Come to think of it, W were in charge of it last year, weren’t you?
ran: Ah, I remember that! Last year’s white day was super good! I got heaps of sweets from the guests and they were all delicious!
takami: That was all arranged by Sin, he himself said that he wanted to do it.
heath: That’s surprising.
sin: One must be meticulous when preparing offerings. Treating them as importantly as drops of blood red.
ran: Wait so ya sayin’ Sin really did prepare all of those sweets last year?
sin: That is correct. After careful investigation I made all the preparations. Whilst bearing the cross, occasionally a devil will murmur in your ear. But, the banquet is a festival, one must enjoy it to the fullest.
ran: Mmm, I feel like I understand but I don’t at the same time.
takami: If you’re concerned over which sweets you should choose, it’s ok to order a selection and try them. If they’re related to the white day event, then they will be chalked up as a business expense.
ran: …..!
heath: Not just anything can be covered though, right?
takami: Yes, if there is no clear relation to the event then the application will not be accepted. And if you do buy something make sure to receive and keep the receipt. If there is anything you do not understand, feel free to come and consult me beforehand.
ran: Thank ya, Takami. I’ve just come up with a brilliant idea!

chapter 2 -kitchen sitting area-
mizuki: Lico, pass me that.
lico: Get it yourself.
mizuki: Fine whatever. The soy sauce is just closer to you.
lico: Sigh…. Here you go.
mizuki: Thanks.
kongou: Sorry for the wait, here’s your food, Heath.
heath: Thanks, Kongou.
ran: (runs in) So this is where ya all were! Hey hey, let’s all throw a party tomorrow!
lico: …Ran, you literally just stepped into the room, what are you going on about? We have to prepare for our white day show, we don’t have any spare time for that. Besides, what’s the point of having a party with just dudes invited.
ran: Lico isn’t attending then! I’ll invite Nee-chan and we can have one big white day party! I wanna let her know how thankful I am of her bein’ here all the time, it’s a nice idea ain’t it?
heath: …If Saki will be there then I’ll join. I’d like to thank her as well.
lico: Huh? Why the hell did you leave that information out when you first brought it up? If Kotori-chan is going then I will too.
ran: Mizuki, Kongou? What about yall?
mizuki: I’ll go if there’s meat to eat.
kongou: If it’s a party then there needs to be food, I’d be happy to help out. Where were you thinking of holding it? We need to consider the budget too.
ran: Just leave all of that to me!
mizuki: So you’re sayin’ it’s a free feed then? Hell yeah!
ran: Yup yup ♪
lico: Hold on, can you not get ahead of yourselves. If Kotori-chan or myself aren’t with you then I worry what will become of this, I’ll help you prepare.
ran: Ok! Then, once we’re done with work today, let’s go shoppin’!
-time pass, location change, shopping centre-
ran: Man~~! We bought so much!
mizuki: Yeah but, there’s hardly any meat.
lico: Kotori-chan is coming, we can’t just have a meat fiesta.
mizuki: Why not?
kongou: I’m glad you came shopping with us, Lico. If it was just me here I wouldn’t have been able to stop these two from filling the basket up with packs of meat.
mizuki: You say that, but why is it fine that we got all this chocolate instead then? You bought way too much.
kongou: There’s something I’d like to try and do with it. I think it’s something that everyone will enjoy, so look forward to it.
mizuki: Well, ok, since it’s you sayin’ it.
kongou: By the way, is it really ok for you to pay for all this, Ran?
ran: No problem, no problem! It’s my treat, don’t worry about it!
heath: …….
—end

chapter 3 -starless hallway-
heath: Saki.
saki: Hello, Heath-san.
heath: Do you have any plans tonight?
saki: Huh, tonight? No, I was just planning to watch tonight’s show and then head home like usual.
heath: I see. Then, come to the main hall after closing time, ok? We’ll all be waiting for you.
saki: Alright.
saki: (They’ll be waiting?)
-time pass, starless restaurant area-
saki: Hm? It’s so dark in here… Is there no one around?
-lights flick on-
saki: Uwah!
ran: Nee-chan, welcome!
Tumblr media
saki: Umm, what is… going on?
heath: White day is a day where you give thanks to those you’re grateful for, so we prepared all this for you. Come over here, let’s eat.
mizuki: You took so long to get here, Saki.
kongou: Mizuki! That’s not how you should greet her—
mizuki: Whatever man.
lico: They really are hopeless huh, Kotori-chan. Here, I’ll pass you whatever it is you’d like to eat, what would you like?
ran: Ya don’t get it do ya Lico? It’s more fun dippin’ things in yourself. Let’s dip stuff in the chocolate fountain together, Nee-chan!
lico: Oi, Ran. Have some common sense and wait your turn.
ran: I only cut in and asked her cause ya don’t know what ya doin’ Lico.
lico: Excuse me? Please, go ahead and elaborate.
ran: What, ya wanna go? If it’s a fight ya want I’m down.
saki: Ahaha…
kongou: Sorry for the chaos, Saki-chan.
saki: It’s alright, I’m having fun.
kongou: Ran and Heath were the ones who took the initiative to arrange this party. They wanted to throw it for you.
saki: So that’s how it was.
ran: Wait crap! I forgot to ask for a receipt!
mizuki: What? Receipt?
heath: …Here Ran, I got it. I didn’t want to lose it so I kept it on me.
ran: Oh for reals? Thank ya, Heath.
kongou: …Receipt? Don’t tell me… you mean the one for the ingredients?
—end
-
chapter 4 -starless restaurant area, different day-
heath: Thanks for coming, Saki.
saki: Good evening, Heath-san. I’ve been looking forward to tonight’s show.
heath: I’m glad, watch until the end, ok? Also…
saki: Is something the matter?
heath: After the show, I’d like to talk to you a bit, would that be alright?
saki: Of course.
heath: Then, I’ll wait for you at the nearby shrine.
saki: (At the shrine? Is it something he doesn’t want anyone else overhearing? I wonder if Heath-san is worried about something…)
-bloomed cg
heath: “We’ll pay you back for everything, I can’t hold back a feeling such as this any longer.”
saki: (They’re just as fired up as ever in tonight’s show too. Heath-san doesn’t seem any different from usual either… I wonder what it is that he wants to talk about…)
-show over-
saki: (Tonight’s show was lots of fun. I should get going to meet up with Heath-san.)
-time pass, in front of shrine, night time-
saki: Sorry, did I make you wait long?
heath: No, it’s fine. Sorry for calling you all the way out here.
saki: It’s alright, what’s on your mind?
heath: …Here, chocolate. I wanted to give it to you.
saki: To me?
heath: When we were getting the white day party ready, I started wanting to give you something too. So, I tried making them myself under Kongou’s guidance.
saki: Thank you, I’m so happy.
heath: It was quite fun making chocolate whilst thinking about giving them to you. Even if all I did was melt and reshape the chocolate. But, I reaffirmed once again that there’s still no pass time more enjoyable than standing on the stage.
saki: Heath-san…
heath: I’ll always be grateful to you, Saki. It’s white day, so I wanted to give that gratitude a physical form. From now on, I’ll convey it through words. But, this time is special.
—end
