having lots of thoughts about the 'Ballet on the Battlefield' alternate universe where only Alexa got out, and she had to leave Janusz behind

he had everything prepared, because he knew Alexa. he knew she'd come back, but before he could get out, Madame Romanoff got there first.

you really should've seen the look on Alexa's face, too! she was already flying away, but that girl never knew what was good for her and now just look at all the trouble she's gotten her little friend into.

Alexa also always struggled with decisions, but one look at Janusz' face and- she couldn't hear him, but she pretended that he was telling her to leave.

it's what he would've wanted, and that's what she tells herself as she turns her back.

Janusz won't realise this until years later when he still works at the same ballet school, is raising his own mini-Janusz, and is watching day-by day, as the once powerful Madame Romanoff has started to fade away- but Alexa always had a suitcase in her hand.

in all honesty, he should've known that when it all came to it at the end, she would do what's best for herself. Petrova always told him so, and that woman was like Alexa's mother.

once, his son (Fyodor) sneaks into the main school, and is found in front of the television: eyes starry; mouth agape; speechless- which was strange for him. when Madame Romanoff drags him back to the help's quarters, he tells Janusz everything he saw.

she was beautiful. swan-like grace (but didn't really do a lot of the traditional French ballet moves, and 'papa, i thought zat all of ze ballerinas had to do zese fancy moves!!') and suddenly Janusz was seven years old again, and the window was wide open.

it had never been closed, only pulled-to with the curtains covering it.

for the first time in a while, Janusz heard the birds again.

I woke up just a little bit ago so I’m still kind of out of it but IT WAS AWESOMEEEEEEE I’d already seen it on a patreon livestream but I was half asleep then so rewatching it was awesome (it was almost like I’d never seen it before honestly lol)

I honestly still need to rewatch it again to fully get it cause last night there was a Patreon stream and it was late and it all got mixed into one but ALEXA IS AUTISTIC (not canonically but TO ME)

Anyway it was awesome, even without the real battlefield and the ballet being more than inaccurate 😂😂

So I'm officially obsessed with the idea of traumatised sfth children (Johnny & Janae, Peter Steven, Jack a.k.a Sisyphus kid, Alexa & Janusz, etc.) forming a little support group and living in an orphanage together now, so here are a bunch of character dynamic headcanons:

Johnny and Janae were practically joined at the hip in the beginning. Johnny would not talk at all, and although Janae spoke, their words were very sardonic and harsh. It took months of therapy for them to warm up to the others.

Peter seemed the most well-adjusted and friendly out of the children, but he would occasionally have these intense mental breakdowns where he cries about being worthless and no more than a burden than those around him.

Jack was very confused as to why he was there since he didn't quite understand what happened with his parents. He wore his yellow jacket all the time because it reminded him of his time with his parents, and he'd sometimes talk about his home life in gruesome detail, not knowing how traumatic those memories really were.

Similar to Johnny and Janae, Alexa and Janusz were next to each other pretty much all the time. The two seemed to always be in their own little world, and they rarely interacted with the others.

Peter and Jack were the first ones to become acquainted at the orphanage since both of them came alone, and it was Peter who helped Jack adjust in the beginning when he missed his parents.

Janae tried explaining to Jack what really happened with his parents once, but was stopped by Johnny at the last minute.

Johnny is really popular amongst the children because of his premonition dreams and Peter has compared him to a superhero multiple times.

Janae was very distrustful of the adults taking care of them at first and always insisted on not needing help for themself and Johnny. Although they still don't trust the staff, they're fine with Johnny being taken care of by others now.

Alexa has a very complicated relationship with ballet after what happened. There are days where she insists on performing ballet for the others, and there are days where simply looking at her ballet shoes brings her flashbacks.

Janusz had a constant impulse to help clean the orphanage, so he could often be found dusting the floors or wiping down dusty furniture or washing dishes. He was told by the caretakers that he didn't need to do it, but he insisted on being useful.

The others love hearing about Janae's inventions even if they don't understand more than half of what they're talking about. There are nights when everyone sneaks off to Johnny and Janae's room just to play with the inventions, and Janae was more than glad to explain the functionality of each one, with Johnny adding comments when he actually understood what they were talking about.

After they became closer, Janae began modifying Peter's figurines to make them fly or shoot lasers from their eyes or something similar. Peter's first request was for Janae to make the legs on a Barbie doll that he loved shorter, though Janae refused.

The children have "stand-up nights" where they sit in a circle and take turns telling jokes and funny stories that they came up with. Alexa loved those days because she could tell all the jokes that she wanted.
