           From the moment she was born Sindel Takar kept people away with her voice. As a baby her cries were enough to bring any and all adults to their knees and as a result forced her parents to give her up for adoption; unable to bear the pain they had to withstand each and every time they attempted to care for her. Orphanages around the country refused to care for the girl and before long the infant Sindel found her way into the arms of a government organization - where she was treated as more of a freak than a person.

Confined to a sound proof room for most of her adolescence the Takar girl was studied, poked and prodded by those she had no other choice but to call her family - because what else could they be? At the age of five Sindel was subjugated to human trials; having thus far been forced to use her gift on animals. Reluctant at first to harm another being the Takar girl soon learned it was cause or be causedsuffering - and so she had no choice. That very first day Sindel caused a man’s brain to liquify - and it was then she began to distance herself from any and all human emotion. 

The Agency controlled Sindel’s life until she was seventeen; teaching her all manor of combat and strategics, all the while gagged with an iron mouth guard, secured against her skull via a complicated pad lock system, the base of which would wrap around her jaw preventing her from opening it even a smidge. For all they taught the Takar girl though the Agency forgot one thing - Sindel was smart, clever enough to keep track of which guards were on watch when; even so far as to recall the intricate pathways that lead her to each and every testing room. 

On a day like any other she watched from her soundproof room - like a lion trapped behind secure glass; as what could only be described as a portal opened up just a few feet away. Chaos ensued, gunfire, massacre and an e x p l o s i o n; one positioned so conveniently that it blew a hole clean through Sindel’s cage; and thus she was released. 

With no identity to speak of and no social skills to be recognized the Takar girl very quickly took to life on the street; all the while keeping herself distanced from other people since according to her they were nothing but trouble. She’ll do what she has to in order to survive; selling drugs mostly - and if anyone ever gets too close she’s more than capable of taking them down; not to mention her back up plan - just one little scream.

Nisha Khatri, appears to be late thirties/early forties but is actually centuries old (and no she will not disclose how many), fluid sexuality. By this point Nisha has pretty much forgotten her human life since it was so insignificant to her. No, life really began when she met Cass. He was romantic and passionate and swept her off her feet in no time. It didn't matter to her that he was a vampire. In fact, she was all too eager to join him and spend eternity together. For many years they were happy, taking joy in hunting side by side. Eventually he started to crave more than the two of them and starting siring new vampires. Nisha didn't want to share and grew frustrated with him. She left the 'family' for many years before deciding she wanted the company after all. They never rekindled their relationship though she does help train the baby vamps and keep the more rambunctious ones in line. Lately one Landon Morley has been giving her quite the headache...

           ❝ a problem solver in almost any sense of the phrase, she lives and breathes by the loyalties she chooses to keep, holding to her own personal code of ethics. as a former specialist relied on by any number of criminals, her information network is vast, even in regards to more supernatural entities. she’s one to keep matters close to the chest, rarely the sort to expose vulnerability, but she’s a friend to keep around certainly. ❞

        Expected heir to her father’s flourishing drug cartel, Helaine was raised in the image of her family and what they undoubtedly stood for. Of course, she wouldn’t know this extended beyond the criminal aspect until much later, when she would discover what it meant to be imbued as her mother had been, but this is somewhat beside the point.

Though her personal insight would be limited due to his manner of keeping his household separate from his actual business affairs, Helaine developed a fascination for the inner workings of her father’s dealings from a young age, always seeming to pick up on the little things one might otherwise miss. How his day-to-day always ran on tight, precise scheduling. How no one dared to stand against him, not even the woman he married who, while surely a fighter in her own right, was hardly foolhardy enough to test his patience. Any tiny, minuscule whim was honored to the best of one’s ability; any demand to surface considered final, the word of God even. The man never knew true disappointment or true disrespect as he was never questioned, never gone against. She grew to understand what real power was and what it meant to actually own someone by will alone, to twist their deepest desires and dreams to favor you personally. She also came to understand what it would mean in her own hands, when she inevitably became the person she so dearly admired. Though, while she had a great admiration for her father, she also knew that she’d be better, do better. Surpass him in every way – otherwise, what was the point of it all?

In the time to follow, and once deemed competent enough to do so, Helaine operated as a sort of criminal consultant to the man in charge, working through her aging father’s day-to-day operations including managing his string of hotels and minor acquisitions throughout the years. She would also ensure absolute follow through on promises made by his contacts and fellow associates. At times – very rarely, in fact – this would mean breaking a few bones, holding a child or two for ransom, but the woman rose to be the best at what she did strictly through her maneuverability. She had a way with words, a way with convincing other parties to see her side of things, to be smart about the choices they made. She was also someone who listened, observed. When men were crying out for dear life, she gave them a willing ear. After all, there were always angles to be worked, favors to be paid. Information was never not valuable in her line of work and any secret worth telling, was a secret worth keeping, regardless of how irrelevant it seemed at the time. That was essentially what she became, a treasure trove of secrets and lies and angles. And when her father’s empire fell to ruin, his own arrogance serving his downfall, the woman found use for her talents elsewhere once she’d gone into hiding.

        When the end of the world struck, it’s dare said Helaine was a little more prepared than others, even if she was stuck in a bar with a bunch of ignorant drunks for much longer than what should have been necessary.

Despite her former duties as a criminal aide to her kingpin father, in what little spare time that’d been given, Helaine busied herself with learning all there was to a life never known. When she was around the age of eleven, she’d accidentally come in contact with a pair of beasts – hellhounds, her mother had called them. The woman had saved her from a premature death, her natural paranoia getting the best of her when her daughter never returned home from her friend’s house when she was meant to. Except, even when the pair of them returned to the safety of their home, the woman refused to indulge any further curiosities. Apparently, her father had gone so far as to ban talk of any paranormal existence when they married, believing his child had more important matters to concern herself with and there was naturally a bitterness there on Helaine’s part. Being denied that part of her family for so long without her personal say was something of a betrayal in her eyes. Still, when her mother had finally decided to spill all she knew, the consultant regarded the task rather carefully. She would read up on everything she could, learn whatever she wished to learn – but she refused to make a career of it; in her mind, she wasn’t kind enough for it – to risk her life for the safety of others willingly. She could get why her mother had decided to give it up for family, even one so corrupt as their own. For Helaine personally, she felt she had her own responsibilities and loyalties to honor and it wasn’t really her fight to begin with. She genuinely wanted to believe the understanding and knowledge alone was enough, and for a time, it certainly seemed to be.

Yet, in spite of her comprehension of the situation, the initial shock of the world actually crumbling beneath her feet was something to adjust to. But when matters finally settled, she was already well on her way to salvaging what she could even in her ragged state, seeing what and who could be used to her advantage. And yeah, maybe she’d go and pick up a gun or two along the way. Better safe, and all.
