Jimmy wraps his hand and arm slowly, making sure the cotton padding under the gauze doesn't slip as he does. A focused look covers his cow brown eyes, cursed feathers flexing as he concentrates.

He only pulls back when he's done, confident with his work before his eyes fall again.

Tango can help but focus on the echo of pain, not nearly as bad as his own, in both of the partial avian's hands.

But he can't– his emotions are shit. He feels bad but he doesn't…

“I'm sorry for– for touching you earlier…” Jimmy says quietly. “I know you said not to but I– I wanted to help you calm down and–”

“It's okay, Jimmy…” Tango sighs as his tail flicks. “I'm– I'm sorry for hurting you…”

I'm sorry even more for not feeling it…

“It's okay, really. You warned me before that it could happen and–”

Jimmy tries to squeeze Tango's hands with his own, but only winces.

“Could I look after you? To repay you?” He asks gently.

His partner smiles weakly before handing him what's left of the healing and regen mixture.

The netherborn's hands aren't steady, he's still shaking as he looks after the wounds he caused. There's a pit in his chest as he sees the damage, bloodied hands with deep wounds in front of him from when Jimmy had grabbed him by his shoulders.

It’s almost easy to cover up the evidence, doused in the antibiotic mixture before slowly wrapping up burnt fingers.

He hates how much his own hands are shaking, but Jimmy takes them so easily as he rests his forehead against the netherborn's.

“Tango, are you alright?”

“Yeah, I– I just need some sleep. That's all…”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah…” He then dramatically sighs and stretches back. “We had a long day so I'm exhausted.”

“I guess so.” Jimmy laughs. “But–”

“I'm okay, songbird. I just need some sleep.”

Jimmy finally gives in and sighs, moving everything to the end table before pulling Tango against his chest.

Despite every pain in his own chest, Tango purrs as Jimmy presses a soft kiss to his forehead.

His instincts scream that he isn't safe. That he's hurt or hurt others. But Jimmy trills quietly and it almost makes his brain crash to a stop and–

“I'm… I'm sorry and I love you…”
