do u genuinely wanna talk about hedda gabler because my theatre teacher was obsessed and passed it onto me

i am so passionate about hedda gabler. i wrote 8 pages of character analysis over her and how her character, though portrayed as a villain, is actually just a depiction of a woman trying to gain power and agency over her own life when society has already determined her fate for her. 

did hedda cause a man’s death? yes. did she manipulate everyone around her for fun? yes. is it her fault? yes. but all of this is a result of her trying to grasp at straws to get her own life under control! she wants power. she wants control. she wants to be able to make a real impact on others. these are all things society says she cannot have. she is bored. she wants her life to mean something. her solution to oppression is to go absolutely apeshit. obviously, this does not work out for her, so the play asserts that going apeshit won’t work for anyone. HOWEVER… the play doesn’t mean to say that women should stay in their place. it means to juxtapose hedda gabler with nora from A Doll’s House. there are ways to get control of your life as a woman, and though going completely off the rails and telling someone to kill themselves may feel like power, what nora does is actually the correct solution. that being said, hedda is still THAT BITCH, AND SHE ALWAYS WILL BE. SHE HAD THEM ALL DANCING LIKE PUPPETS. QUEEN OF MANIPULATION AND CHAOS!!

god no one on this site has any critical thinking skills at all. 

no one is blaming pewdiepie for the shooting. what we’re saying is that social media has an alarming impact on the way people think and function, and the shooter was obviously influenced by hate he saw on the internet. he was a fan of pewdiepie, and the fact that he called felix’s channel out before killing muslims means that he believes felix backs up his racist actions. 

felix has said antisemitic and racist things that have reached a giant audience, and these comments have influenced others to say/do prejudiced things & at the very least, he has normalized prejudice within his fan base. 

NOW. what im trying to tell YOU is that youtubers and streamers, hell, anyone with a large social media platform, has an impact on their viewers, and felix’s impact has been overwhelmingly negative. despite this, he remains one of the biggest faces of youtube. 

in conclusion since y’all can’t piece it together on your own, WE NEED TO HAVE A DISCUSSION ABOUT WHAT WE ACCEPT FROM CONTENT CREATORS. felix should not still have his large fan base after saying all that shit because it has a negative impact. y’all just don’t want to have this discussion because that means “cancelling” your poor, racist white boy, and you like his unfunny content. so, instead of thinking about what im saying, y’all are still going to claim that i’m blaming felix for the shooting to defend him instead of understanding that we cannot allow hate to be spread from such a large platform anymore. from any large platform. from any youtubers/streamer/whatever.
