5. Do you respond to comments?

I absolutely do, just not every one of them. Unfortunately A03 counts author responses as comments and that bugs me, but I wholly appreciate any and all feedback!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh damn. Probably a chapter in my prompts collection called That Night in 2014 when Scully left, and one called Bone Deep set post Tithonus are angsty enough. I love writing angst, but prefer to leave my fic on less of a dreary note.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Ha it turns out I write a lot of fic with happier endings, but I guess Brother Bill ended very happily considering it was during the cancer arc. There’s plenty more I could’ve chosen though.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not that I know of.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what?

Yes, I mix it up. Lots of soft, sensual sex, but also some downright dirty smut too. Depends on the tone of the story.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I wrote one where Mulder and Scully go see Jean Milburn from Sex Education and have a therapy session. Coming Undone. It’s ridiculous and funny and was way too fun to write haha!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of but I hope not.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes but I can’t remember which one 🫣

13. Have you ever co-written before?

YES many times and I love it. I’ve written with several amazing writers @cultureisdarkbeer @admiralty-xfd @fridaysat9 @gaycrouton @slippinmickeys one several different fics.

14. What’s your all time fave ship?

MSR ofc! I do also love Jamie/Claire and Stella/Reed.

15. What WIP you want to finish?

I have this Unruhe fic that isn’t even that long but I cannot seem to fucking finish it for the life of me. I will eventually though.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Details? Creating a scene and capturing the characters as close to THEM as I possibly can comes easier to me than other things.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Probably dialogue and writing longer novel length fics.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I want to dive into the Outlander fandom very badly but I’m too scared to try Gaelic/accents and be happy with the outcome. Maybe one day.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

X-Files! I was just a wee 15yr old on my dialup desktop trying to write a post FTF fic on the original XF storyboards. I never did finish it past the second chapter.

20. Fave fics you’ve written?

I have a few I really love, but I am kind of hard on myself as a writer. I enjoy writing but can’t seem to reread my own stuff and come away beaming about it. The ones off the top of my head I’m proud and have not mentioned above of are A Life to Remember - an AU were Mulder and Scully are doctors and meet under interesting circumstances. Lots of UST, angst and family fluff as they flashback to their past on how they met.The Things They Say in the Dark is another one I love. It has angst, lots of hurt/comfort (not to mention Scully washing Mulder’s hair post Amor Fati) and serious yearning! Honestly love these two so feel free to check them out if you haven’t, I’d be blessed if you loved them too!

Nathan was struggling with the fact that Jamie was pregnant and they had to not only worry about final exams, but also... well, preparing for a baby. Because they were gonna be parents. Like, responsible for another human life. It was terrifying to even think that someone like him could be a father, but he knew that they had the support of so many people that it couldn’t be that bad. Right? “You hungry?” he asked Jamie, bored out of his fucking mind because he just had to be studying tonight. Fuck school. Okay, maybe he shouldn’t say that out loud anymore --- can’t have his kid hate school already. “Feelin’ pizza?”

le(s) personnage(s): pas de quoi sortir les violons ou faire sonner les trompettes, pas de tapis rouge à promettre, pas même de dream team à souligner sous-couvert d’une dégaine de trio à la façon des powerpuff girls. y’a la rencontre qui s’est faite à mesure, les atomes crochus chez l’un.e comme chez l’autre, la passion du savoir à transmettre pour peu que ça donne un semblant de carburant de quoi se lever le matin. ça parle bête sur les autres, ça envie les autres, ça râle du système, ça s’inquiète pour les élèves ou ça se marre pour des excuses à la con. ça donne des heures de colle parfois. ça boit aussi des coups parfois. puis dans le fond ça s’apprécie franchement, ça incarne des caricatures, ça le vit bien même si parfois ça peut broyer du noir et boire ce pétrole à la paille de fer. on a bubbles (jamie) qu'est prof d'arts plastiques depuis cinq ans et siffle du café à s'en filer des tremblements, on a buttercup (f) ancienne sportive de haut niveau qu'a bien les glandes d'être sur les bancs de l'école en tant que prof de sport depuis cinq ans mais qui se fait à l'idée d'entraîner des nouvelles têtes à élever sur un panthéon puis y'a blossom (m/f/nb), blossom qu'est prof de musique à faire saigner du queen et du nirvana en cours, depuis un an qu'il est là mais s'est déjà fait une place entre les murs, à se claquer des barres avec son positivisme presque écoeurant. iels peuvent être possiblement des fées ou demi-fées sans souci.

pourquoi on shippe fort/on attend ce lien : parce que ça manque de profs dans le coin, parce que la dynamique peut être mims et que parler bête en salle des profs ça peut être vlà fun. j'ai pas plus d'arguments ? promis on va se claquer des barres. pis super nanas woh.

Jackson knew there was a lot of truth to that. 'Unsettled' was a mild way of putting it, when it came to the truth of things. It was a relationship that by all legal accounts, shouldn't really exist. But Jamie was right about another thing: Jackson needed submission. His mental health depended upon being held accountable to someone. He was a little surprised to be hearing how Jamie didn't feel he needed it the same way Jackson did though, it wasn't something he thought about anlot ut not that he was thinking about it, it did seem like Jamie was never a submissive in the same way Nick was a submissive, or Jackson, or most submissives Jackson spent time with. "Don't be sorry. You're not far off the mark..." he said, "I think subconsciously, I might even overcompensate my submission because of the mark I got. I have to work harder to get people to see me how I see myself, I guess." He shrugged.

Ftf; "You sure you don't need a tea refill or anything?" Jackson asked. They were in his living room, Netflix on in the background while Jamie worked on his schoolwork and Jackson sketched nothing in particular. He was itching for something more useful to do, in quite a literal sense as every sonoften he would pause to scratch his arms again.

Jamie felt a bit badly for invading Jackson’s space. It was moments like this that chaffed at his submissive mark. Yes, he certainly had his submissive side and he didn’t regret taking that mantel on in order to claim with Mateo and Nick. However the notion that he needed to be ‘taken care of’ in his Dominant’s absence. And to top it off, something most definitely seemed off about Jackson. He pushed his laptop and braille display away. “I think that would be lovely, but perhaps... Well, could we talk for a bit first?”

Nick settled on his knees at Jamie’s feet, resting his chin atop his left knee. “You know me, Sir,” he teased, “I worry about everything. But yeah, I did notice that he left. I know you say you’re all right, but where are you in the processing thing?”

JAMIE: was a little bit taken aback when Noelle told her that she didn’t have to put on any clothes. After looking at herself in the mirror (a classic /very/ messy bun at the top her head, thank you very much), she decided that at least putting on a clean shirt would help. She rummaged through her clean clothes pile — on the floor, though, because she was much too lazy to put it in her closet — and decided on a long sleeved Beatles t-shirt. Jamie’s hands played with the end of her boyshorts, wondering if waiting for Noelle with no pants on was the best idea. Shrugging and deciding she didn’t care, she made her way towards the living room to play a few video games as she waited for her. Like clockwork, though, Jamie heard a knock on the door just as she was about to sit down. She swung the door open, giving Noelle a cheesy smile. God, was this girl /beautiful/. “Hey, princess.”

Jackson shrugged, releasing another breath and taking a sip of tea before he answered. "I don't know. I guess... I just feel like I'm always the one going to them. I don't even really know what's going on in their lives... they never seem to have time to talk." He swallowed. "I'm just... not a priority for them, I guess."

PM: Hello Little One. How are you? That question must have been very difficult. I'm proud of you for being so open with a part of your life that is very private and still a painful wound. I'll also be honest to say that I'm feeling a little worried as well. I know you're strong, but even the strongest of us would be laid low by this. Are you alright?

PM: I guess talking about it brought a lot of it back. I’m… I’m not going to lie and say everything is totally fine, but I think I am okay… Just, a melancholy sort of okay, you know? I could use a hug.

X-Files Collector’s Edition:  Car Accidents, Injuries, and Fluff-- Oh My!

A catch-all for car accidents: injuries, angst, fluff, humor, and confessions.

I’m not an angst connoisseur; but these passed my limited litmus test; and are shoved into as close-to-authorial-chronological order as I can make them.

““Even in the low lighting Mulder could see that the sharpness had returned to her face as she pivoted to serious Dr. Scully mode and he was determined to soften those edges once again.

“Like I got hit by a car,” he said with a chuckle.

“Very funny,” she said, trying to sound stern but it didn’t work because she was fighting a small smile. There is it, he thought.””

Set sometime in Season 3-- Mulder wakes from his car accident, intent on picking up Scully’s mood. Amused by her presumed bossiness, and moved by her weariness, he insists she can’t sleep in the hospital chair. The nurse just lets them be. 

Sheryl Nantus/Sheryl Martin’s (FFN) Angels (Gossamer link) 

“"While I won't say that there aren't such... possibilities... I won't agree with you based on a fuzzy image that could be easily faked." 

He grinned. "You're such a skeptic.””

Set post-Irresistible and pre-Revelations, Mulder and Scully are flippant about an angel case, until something saves her from a near-fatal fall into traffic. 

Forte’s Semaphore (also at TheBasementOffice) 

“"Until I was in high school, whenever my father was away at sea, I'd watch for the 'angels'.  Imagine that they had a message for me from Ahab."  She looked up, gazing out the windshield again, and shook her head.  "I know that makes no sense, but..." 

Mulder felt the back of his throat tighten, picturing a Samantha-aged Scully sitting on her back porch at twilight, searching the sky.  It makes perfect sense, Scully, he thought.”

Set sometime post FTF-- Mulder and Scully are run off road by unmarked vans and helicopters. As he lies on the brink of death, Scully begs him to live. From there, the story is a trip-and-a-half, hanging together by morse-code messages. 

Ten’s Beneath the Surface 

“I knew what had happened to my Mulder and that I would do whatever it took to stop him driving out of here. 

I considered pulling my gun on him...no telling how he'd react... Then he deliberately moved the car forward, just a foot, hoping I'd instinctively skitter back. I swallowed and held firm. Again. And again. The car slowly moved forward and bumped my knees.” 

Beginning AU--Scully wakes, determined to not let anything hinder their relationship anymore. Mulder begins acting bizarre, erratic, angry, caustic-- and she realizes, almost too late, that he has a compounding and serious injury. 

Jamie Lyn’s Full Moon, Near-Death, and Things Left Unfinished 

““We were just sitting in it, Scully, and now it’s gone. And here we are, on a bridge, cold and wet, with no car. But you’re right. Why don’t you call the car, and then I’ll call the car, and we’ll see if it comes to one of us.”   “This isn’t funny.” “Oh, come on.  I think it’s a little funny.” 

Scully’s bad Halloween is topped off when she and Mulder are plowed into the afterlife at an intersection. He convinces her they’re in limbo and must resolve regrets in their lives. Great banter gives way to tenderness as IVF failure is brought up gently... but in typical fashion, it’s all washed away when they wake.  

(Note: I set IVF arc-- depending on my mood-- between late S5 and early S6.)

“Scully looked paler than he’d seen her in a long time, her head stitched up and her face bandaged, dried blood still plastering her hair to her scalp in spots but underneath all the evidence of the accident was Scully, smiling at him as best she could.

Dating?-- Set sometime after Agua Mala, Mulder watches, horrified, as Scully is sawed out of bad car wreck. Following ER ride and surgery prep, he is left to Maggie to keep him in line until Scully wakes. Maggie is redirected, and duo recall their “love is” joke. 

Part 4 of a series, but this dealt specifically with car wrecks. T-Red is a classic. 

The Comfort of the Place 

“When he couldn't find her, a sudden cold settled in his gut. Heading around to the front of the car, his stomach heaved at the sight of his partner lying about 15 feet from him, her head bleeding against the parking block she had cracked it on. 

Next to her instantly, all Mulder could do was stroke her cheek as the ambulance sirens blared in the distance and his heart shattered into a million pieces.” 

Dating-- Scully has been in a coma for 2 months after driver hit her on sidewalk. Mulder haunts the hospital, unless Maggie shoos him off for sleep or Skinner forces him out of town on a case. Scully is usual, snarky self when she wakes. 

Always Been Yours

“He let them in with his key and locked the door securely behind. Scully was standing in the middle of the living room, not comprehending the fact she was even home. Mulder walked over to her and asked softly, "do you want to lay down for awhile?"

She looked up at him in confusion and recognizing the expression on her face, he managed to get her to the linoleum in the kitchen before she threw up. That first round hit both her and Mulder but in the very brief interim before her stomach exploded again, he got her to the kitchen sink, where he held her head and waited for the storm to pass.”

S7 AU-- Maggie has been tragically killed in car accident, and Mulder supports Scully as she shuts down, then breaks down. Charlie’s friendly, and Bill becomes more civil seeing how affected Scully is.

Post Closure-- TBH, I can’t remember first half; BUT Mulder and Scully get into bad car wreck in freezing temperatures. When Mulder comes to, he can’t feel her pulse and rushes, panicked, into the snow. Teena appears as a specter, helps to heal the hurt he still feels, and redirects him back. Skinner finds both, saves them, and is appalled Mulder thinks Scully is dead. Happy ending.

Mulder and Scully’s car is flooded, and she is filled with a sense of foreboding. Mulder is lured away trying to save girl and almost drowns. The girl vanishes.

Mulder on deathbed from horrific accident; but his soul is trapped in his hospital room with a sharply-practical old man as roommate. Detached from everyone, he’s given up even trying to stay alive... until he hears a threat on Scully’s life. Perfectly snarky and touching.

Mulder is dug out from horrific crash by Skinner and Scully. They only have an isolated cabin for shelter, and inadequate supplies for immediate necessary surgery. What follows is an angst fest for all: 2 hours of Scully digging barbed-wire out of Mulder, unmedicated, while Skinner tries to keep him in place and sane. And then... Santa arrives and erases it all. As he does.

Arcadia AU-- Right as the duo were about to leave Arcadia, Mulder saves a young boy from being hit by a car... and wakes, believing he is Rob and Scully is Laura. The ensuing drama-- hysterically written, I might add-- is gold. (Note: I skip the ~spicy~ ending, because that’s not my preference.)

Post Amor Fati AU-- Scully has shut down emotional side following Mulder’s purposeful blind trust in Diana, who hasn’t died and is trying to get him back. On a case, Scully leaves with possible suspect and barely escapes from his car collision. Mulder rushes over, horrified he could have lost her. (Part of series.)

Band of the Week: Forgetting The Future

The band consist of Robbie McNicol, Connor Wilson, Max Paul and Jamie Mackay formed FTF back in 2014.Their first recording was with Edwyn Collins in 2016 who charted the UK back in the early 80’s with his band “Orange Juice” with the track “Rip It Up” and the more recent chart topper “A Girl Like You” back in ’95.  Discover our ‘Band of the Week’.

In hindsight, speeding through the streets of Chicago to get from the frat house to Jamie’s apartment after a particular text she’d sent him was probably the stupidest idea in the world. Then again, he was an idiot who didn’t think twice before doing things. If whatever was happening was true, then maybe he should probably be more responsible... right? This was just a scare, though. It had to be. They were always safe --- she was on the pill and he always used condoms and... it had to be just a scare. Shit like that happened all the time. Holy shit, it had to be just a scare. They were college kids, for fucks sake. Not only that, but they were college kids who barely knew what the fuck to do with their lives. There was no way they could deal with a... 

Nathan couldn’t even say it. He could barely even think it; he had no idea if he would be able to actually say it out loud. That was too much for either of them. 

Biting his lip, he let himself in her apartment and called out her name. She must’ve been freaking out. “You in your room?” he called out, making his way from the front door to her room. “C’mon Jamie, where you at?”
