Brayden Michael Gatina || 18 || FC: Tanner Buchanan
JustMike_ has 180 followers on instagram and can often be found interacting with Mary Anna McFadden, Addison Evans, Bekah Baker, Aaron Scott, Allan Scott, and Emmerson Gatina.
THE BACKSTORY:
Michael Gatina is the life of the party. He’s here for a good time, not necessarily a long time. After all, you only live once, right? Though he has a lot of friends and is pretty well-liked around Tree Hill, Michael’s inner circle is very, very small. If you’re lucky enough to be part of it, there isn’t much Michael won’t do for you. Others, not so much.
In high school, Michael was the captain of the basketball team and the leading scorer - he was two points shy of beating Jamie Scott’s record. It sucked that he couldn’t break the record, but he recognized talent when he saw it - game recognizes game - and he was okay with it.
School was meant for socializing and not studying, Michael wasn’t too keen on the work part of school. He managed to do enough to stay on the basketball team, but that was about it. Currently, Michael attends Tree Hill University on a basketball scholarship. He has no idea what he wants to do with the rest of his life and he’s okay with that for now. College is a whole new world of opportunities, who knows where the wind might blow.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Blair Dupre: He's had a crush on Blair for as long as he can remember, but he's never acted on it because he doesn't want to hurt their friendship. Addison Evans: Addison takes most of Michael's pictures for any of his modeling shoots. Aaron & Allan Scott: Michael's closest friends are the Scott cousins. They've been inseparable since middle school. Emmerson Gatina: He's only recently found out that he has a sister and he's really confused by it all. Sure Rachel has never been the perfect mother, but she's always gone above and beyond for him. He never imagined that she'd hide something like this from him.

Waiting for Godot - Broadway - November 24, 2013 (Opening Night) (Lanelle's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Aidan Gemme (The Boy), Billy Crudup (Lucky), Ian McKellen (Estragon), Patrick Stewart (Vladimir), Shuler Hensley (Pozzo)
War Horse - West End - February 27, 2014 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MKV (HD) CAST: Sion Daniel Young (Albert Narracott), Josie Walker (Rose Narracott), Alistair Brammer (Billy Narracott), Alex Avery (Captain Nicholls), Steve North (Ted Narracott), Tom Hodgkins (Arthur Narracott) NOTES: Multi-cam pro-shot broadcast live to cinemas as part of National Theatre Live, Includes interval interview and documentary.
War Paint - Broadway - March 11, 2017 (Preview) (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: Patti LuPone (Helena Rubinstein), Christine Ebersole (Elizabeth Arden), John Dossett (Tommy Lewis), Douglas Sills (Harry Fleming) NOTES: Beautiful HD capture of the Broadway transfer. Some changes for Broadway from the previous Goodman Theater production. Excellent performances from the entire cast with clear picture and great sound throughout; very good video. 2 DVDs. A War Paint - Broadway - April 29, 2017 (Matinee) (NYCG8R's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Patti LuPone (Helena Rubinstein), Christine Ebersole (Elizabeth Arden), John Dossett (Tommy Lewis), Douglas Sills (Harry Fleming) NOTES: The master gets caught during Face to Face. You can hear someone say “TURN IT OFF”. Blackout during that part. Wasted - Southwark Playhouse - 2018 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Matthew Jacobs Morgan (Branwell Brontë), Molly Lynch (Anne Brontë), Natasha Barnes (Charlotte Brontë), Siobhan Athwal (Emily Brontë) We Are The Tigers - Off-Broadway - March, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Lauren Zakrin (Riley Williams), Wonu Ogunfowora (Cairo), Jenny Rose Baker (Kate Dalton), MiMi Scardulla (Reese), Kaitlyn Frank (Annleigh), Cathy Ang (Mattie Wheeler), Celeste Rose (Chess), Zoe Jensen (Farrah), Sydney Parra (Eva Sanchez), Louis Griffin (Clark) NOTES: Starts at the beginning of "I Just Wanna" and missing part of "Mattie's Lament." The theater was really full tonight so there are a good number of heads in this video, but they are worked around to the best of my ability. This is a super small theater (less than 160 seats) and at times the cast members were definitely singing to the camera and honestly giving their best performances because of it. All of the things on the upper level (the bathroom, the pathway, and the kitchen) are captured perfectly, and the zooms on the lower level (the living room and bench) look good as well. Obviously because this is a murder mystery kind of show the lighting can get a little bit dark, but my camera handles low lighting incredibly well. This is honestly the best video you could expect from this venue We Will Rock You - Germany (Cologne) - August, 2005 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alex Melcher (Galileo), Vera Bolten (Scaramouche), Brigitte Oelke (Killer Queen), Martin Berger (Khashoggi), Michaela Kovarikova (Meat/Oz), DMJ (Brit/J.B.), James Sbano (Pop/Buddy/Bap), Harald Tauber (Teacher), Willemijn Verkaik NOTES: Multicam proshot We Will Rock You - Utrecht (The Netherlands) - October, 2010 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: John Vooijs (Galileo), Marjolein Teepen (Scaramouche), Pia Douwes (Killer Queen), Paul Donkers (Khashoggi), Floortje Smit (Meat/Oz), Ruud van Overdijk (Brit/J.B.), Rutger le Poole (Pop/Buddy/Bap) NOTES: Good capture. Heads in the way, but also a lot of good close-ups. Dubble DVD! We Will Rock You - West End - February 11, 2003 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Tony Vincent (Galileo), Hannah Jane Fox (Scaramouche), Sharon D Clarke (Killer Queen), Alexander Hanson (Khashoggi), Kerry Ellis (Meat/Oz), Nigel Clauzner (Brit/J.B.), Nigel Planer (Pop/Buddy/Bap) The Wedding Singer - Broadway - April 1, 2006 (Preview) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Stephen Lynch (Robbie Hart), Laura Benanti (Julia), Matthew Saldivar (Sammy), Kevin Cahoon (George), Rita Gardner (Rosie), Amy Spanger (Holly), Richard H Blake (Glen), Felicia Finley (Linda) NOTES: Includes pictures of outside of the theatre and playbill. This was before the changes were made to the production. Blackouts throughout the show. The Wedding Singer - Off-West End - March 1, 2020 (Matinee) (Closing Night) (Highlights) (queenofthedead's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Kevin Clifton (Robbie Hart), Rhiannon Chesterman (Julia), Ashley Emmerson (Sammy), Andrew Carthy (George), Sandra Dickinson (Rosie), Tara Verloop (Holly), Jonny Fines (Glen), Erin Bell (Linda), Lori Haley Fox (Angie), Andy Brady (David Fonda), Nathan Ryles (Harold Fonda), Jordan Crouch (Donnie), Aimee Moore (Tiffany), Simon Anthony (Shane McDonough), Paris Green (Donatella), Vanessa Grace Lee (Donatella’s Mother), Morgan Jackson (Mookie), Ellie Seaton (Crystal) NOTES: 38 minutes of act 1 of the closing performance, unobstructed. Welcome To The Club - Broadway - April 8, 1989 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Avery Schreiber (Milton), Bill Buell (Gus), Jodi Benson (Betty), Marcia Mitzman (Carol), Marilyn Sokol (Arlene), Sally Mayes (Winona), Samuel E Wright (Bruce), Scott Waara (Kevin), Scott Wentworth (Aaron), Terri White (Eve) NOTES: Filmed during previews. Well filmed from the balcony. Mostly a full stage shot. Some generational loss. Wenn Rosenblätter Fallen - Oberhausen - June 13, 2016 (Rumpel's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Pia Douwes (Rose), Anton Zetterholm (Till), Annemieke van Dam (Iris)
West Side Story - Hollywood Bowl - July 19, 2016 (SJ Bernly's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Jeremy Jordan (Tony), Solea Pfeiffer (Maria), Karen Olivo (Anita), Matthew James Thomas (Riff), George Akram (Bernardo), Drew Foster (Action), Jose Moreno Brooks (Chino), Anthony C Chatmon II (A-Rab), Kyle Selig (Baby John), Mike Schwitter (Big Deal), Jeff Smith (Diesel), Kevin Chamberlin (Krupke), Jennifer Sanchez (Rosalia), Erica Dorfler (Consuela) NOTES: This concert version of the show is abridged with shortened scenes, simple costumes, and no sets or choreography, but Jeremy, Solea, and Karen are absolutely phenomenal with soaring vocals and emotional performances. Very well captured with no dropouts, no obstruction, and no washout. The stage is filmed directly most of the time; the screens are occasionally filmed, usually when the actors are not onstage. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. No dropouts and no obstruction. West Side Story - Second Broadway Revival - February 23, 2009 (Preview) (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (no smalls) (SD) CAST: Matt Cavenaugh (Tony), Josefina Scaglione (Maria), Karen Olivo (Anita), Cody Green (Riff), George Akram (Bernardo), Curtis Holbrook (Action), Joey Haro (Chino), Kyle Coffman (A-Rab), Ryan Steele (Baby John), Tro Shaw (Anybodys), Steve Bassett (Lt. Schrank), Lee Sellars (Krupke), Greg Vinkler (Doc) NOTES: Stunning production of this revival. Josefina and Karen still steal the show. The cast was on fire and there was a lot of energy in the audience as it was the first performance on Broadway. There are some changes from the DC run, which work better. SoulKind – new, independent magazine celebrates resilience
Tumblr media
“I want to look into your soul,” said photographer Chris Boulton as he stared down the camera lens at his subject, 70-year-old adventurer David Lemon. The photo, part of a shoot for the new independent magazine, SoulKind, was ultimately to grace the cover, and Boulton’s instinctive phrase, in the moment, was to spark the idea for the magazine’s title.
Produced with support from Fujifilm, and printed on the Jet Press 750S, SoulKind is the brainchild of Chris Boulton, an experienced Cheltenham-based photographer and Jamie Rudd, a creative director, and brand consultant. “We wanted to do something purely for the love of it,” says Jamie. “Something not diluted by committee or by commercial concerns. Chris and I have only known each other for a few years, but we have a lot in common, and we’d both long-loved the idea of creating a high-quality magazine to express some of our ideas and creativity. Our challenge had been trying to find our niche – a focus to theme the magazine around.
In the end, it was a tragedy that gave the pair that focus they’d been searching for. “In July 2018, I was involved in a life-changing car accident,” says Jamie. “It almost cost me my life, and as I started out on the long, hard road to recovery, it crystallized in my mind what I wanted our project to be about – tales of human endeavor and exploration, but closer to my heart – resilience. Finding out how endeavors, no matter how big or small, can make us feel alive again. How exploration can enable us to experience everything our wonderful planet has to offer, and how, with the right mindset, we can be resilient and overcome trauma to thrive again.”
So Jamie and Chris began approaching, photographing, and interviewing inspirational people from different walks of life, from adventurers and explorers to endurance athletes. Why, and how, do they do what they do? What drives them? What inspires them?
In the magazine’s first issue, eleven interviewees open up and talk about what they’ve achieved, and the mindset that took them there. Individuals who have tested their own mental and physical limits, not just once, but over and over again.
David Lemon walked the Zambezi, alone, from source to sea, aged over 60. Lucy Shepard, not yet 30, has completed countless polar expeditions and extreme alpine treks. Endurance athlete Sean Conway ran, swam and cycled around the entire coast of mainland Britain and set a new world record time cycling across Europe from Portugal to Russia. Eleven names. Eleven lives. Hundreds of extraordinary adventures.
And why a magazine?
“News is cheaper, more up-to-date, and more accessible online,” says Chris. “So print needs to be about much more than mere information. Print is for those important stories you want people to reflect on. The photographs and the words are equally important elements, and quality print brings them together in a tangible way and makes reading an immersive experience that can’t be replicated on a screen. I used to run a print business myself, and I’ve followed developments in digital print technology in recent years with great interest. It is these advancements that make a magazine like ours – which is produced in relatively short runs at exceptionally high quality – possible. Fujifilm’s Jet Press 750S is one of the best examples out there of a new kind of press that can deliver ultra-high-quality print in run lengths ideal for our magazine – and we’re delighted that Fujifilm shares our vision and is supporting us in getting this first issue published.”
Graham Leeson, head of Communications and Sales Enablement, Fujifilm Graphic Systems EMEA, explains why Fujifilm is supporting the project, “As humans, we need to be inspired – we thrive on stories of courage, perseverance and overcoming impossible odds. In late 2019, when we agreed to help support SoulKind launch its first issue, we couldn’t have known what a different place the world would be now. But the current situation means we need stories like this more than ever. Ten years ago, this magazine could not have been made. You could have printed something ultra-high quality in large volumes, or compromised the quality to print shorter runs more flexibly in response to demand, but you could not have both. Digital print technology, and more specifically the Jet Press 750S, has made this kind of high-quality, short-run creative content possible, and Fujifilm is proud to have been at the forefront of that seismic technological shift.”
SoulKind is printed on the Fujifilm Jet Press 750S at Emmerson Press in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. Issue one is available now. To learn more, or to order a copy, visit www.SoulKindPeople.co.uk . To watch a video about the project, click here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1wXwHdxKD0 .

Home Owners - 10 ways you unconsciously sabotage the speedy SALE of your home.
10 ways you are unconsciously self-sabotaging the speedy SALE of your home!
88% of people are guilty of number 3, but NO-ONE takes it seriously. Seriously?
Selling your home? Yuck! We all know that selling a home elicits dread, anxiety and heightened stress.
Perhaps for you, there’s a small dose of excitement about the future – but seldom glee and delight about the whole process that lies ahead.
If you dare announce to your friends at the dinner table you are about to sell, that statement will elicit groans of sympathy, followed instantly by stories from hell; opinions about how it’s currently only a buyer’s market, how realtors will rip you off, the awful removal companies will break precious belongings, or worse steal your stuff, what an awful upheaval, oi vey – the packing, the mounds of endless paperwork and basically just implying ….“are you mad?” And so it will go on, blah blah blah.
Do you know anyone that LOVES selling and moving home?
Yes, my clients!
I’m Kate Emmerson, the Quick Shift Deva and I am hell-bent on shifting home sellers (and realtors supporting them) to approach this from a unique and different angle. To feel way less stressed, more in control, at peace and actually excited about uprooting life, heart and home when selling this time. To be able to embrace this dreaded process with a lightness of expectation of what’s unfolding.
This is such a potentially powerful and pivotal time in your life – one that is your worst nightmare that fills you with angst and stress, or one that can be done with grace, ease and speed through the transition.
Can you imagine going against the status quo and being able to say how the selling process was effortless, smooth and life-changing? As an expert in letting go and moving on, I’ve spent 16 years researching homeowners and homes, understanding what keeps them stuck at the internal, deeply psychological level. When you’re truly ready to move on, from the inside out, your home will sell with speed and ease.
I challenge you to have an open mind as you keep reading…
For most home sellers, the notion of getting your home ready to let strangers and realtors trudge unceremoniously through your space, opening all the cupboards (oh hell yes!), deciding if this space suits their taste and budget can elicit feelings of terror and panic, even in the most resilient of folk.
There’s always a heady mixture of emotions contemplating selling your home, aren’t there? It’s debilitating and overwhelming. Life is already busy and stressful enough, and this is just a huge added burden on your plate.
All sorts of things come into play.
How will you pack everything?
To realtor or not to realtor?
Are you making the right decision and have clarity about what you want?
Who to trust to move your worldly possessions?
Will doggie Rufus adjust to the new house?
Will grandpa be ok in the new home?
How will you ever get your home show -day ready with all your current obligations?
Gasp -what about that hideous overflowing garage and shed you never get to clearing out. It’s downright embarrassing!
Will you ever find a beautiful new space that feels like home again?
Will your worldly possessions ever fit into that new space?
BREATHE.
While it’s true you will have to dig deep to face the above, and most people hate it, what if I shared there is something far more critical that is the real sabotage to selling your home? It all starts with you and what’s going on inside.
If you are reading this article and wondering how YOU might be sabotaging the sale of your home, chances are you are in one of a few places – where are you right now?
Where do you find yourself right now?
A. Life is changing rapidly, and you are contemplating selling your home. This would be an exciting and aspirational move to upsize, downsize or life-size. But right now you are unsure along with a mixture of dread and excitement – you don’t even know what’s involved up ahead.
B. You are unfortunately being ‘forced to sell’ your home at this time (perhaps due to economic, death, health, divorce or relocating), and both resisting and dreading everything about your life right now it. It’s all too much to handle, it really shouldn’t be happening, you are in shock, and now you have to wrench yourself from your safe nest. It couldn’t get any worse.
C. Your home is not selling and has spent way too many DOM’s (Days on Market), but you really need this property to sell fast. Enough already! There have just been far too many people trudging through the doors, you are sick ‘n tired of your realtor and no real offers to purchase are materializing. You are losing hope of ever selling, you blame your realtor, feel frustrated, trapped, and can’t move forward.
Perhaps you are a Realtor wanting to up your professional game and find unique ways to support your clients to sell faster and with more ease. You are interested in unique ways to help you do your job better – you’re brilliant at what you do, but know something is missing that’s outside your scope of expertise. You’re confused why a perfect property is somehow not shifting on the market, or you know your client needs help to get a grip on making peace with their life, moving on and handling emotional and physical clutter. You are exhausted from everything being an uphill battle with your sellers and need a business boost. You might find THIS ARTICLE I wrote much more suited to you and your profession. Or better yet grab my full 19 page E-Book for realtors HERE
Typical scenarios that unfold during the selling process:
You make the decision to sell your home
You consider selling privately to reduce paying commissions – with the internet, you think it is much easier nowadays
You might contact a local realtor/estate agent to sell your home
Either you or the realtor/estate agent, gather current evaluations by looking at recent house sales in your area
Using this information and some market research, you come up with a market‐related price
Depending on where in the world you live, ‘home‐staging’ may be part of your realtor’s professional service to accentuate and highlight the assets of your home
You put your home on the market & wait for it to magically sell. After all, your job is done now, right?
And then you keep playing the waiting game- usually abdicating all responsibility!
Realistically, the price you want for your home is generally related to several factors: Yes, be honest!
The outstanding amount you still owe on your current mortgage/bond. Argh!
Other debt you might, have that you’re hoping to squash with accrued profit from selling your home
What you originally paid for the property
The money you have invested in upgrading and maintaining your property all these years
Your emotional attachment to the house and what you “feel” it’s worth (usually higher in your head than realistic!)
Other personal factors that might come into play to influence what you believe your precious home must sell for
So how do you start thinking differently about this whole property game?
Here are Kate’s 10 ways you are unconsciously self-sabotaging the speedy SALE of your home!
PART 1: LOOSEN YOUR EMOTIONAL GRIP
SAY ‘GOODBYE’ EARLY ON All sellers fall into this trap, and it’s the first way you will sabotage your sale! It’s also the one no-one else out there talks about because it is considered too fluffy. But it will affect the speed, ease, and ultimately the financial aspect of the sale. This is the single most significant factor that you are 100% in control of and the one to take the most seriously. You have to be ready in your heart and entirely at peace to welcome this move BEFORE you put the “For Sale” up! Take control early on and emotionally “detach” from your home and say goodbye to this era of your life with mindful intent. Emotional closure right upfront will bring acceptance and significantly reduce stress. Most sellers wait till move day to get the emotions in check and wonder why it’s so unbearably stressful. This psychological, emotional, and mental shift is how Kate supports her clients (with life-changing practical exercises) at this pivotal time to ensure you do not sabotage the potential sale. You are energetically and emotionally embedded into every brick in our homes, and you have to loosen this grip before you can move on.Homeowners don’t usually wonder about how your “energy” is embedded into every brick and mortar of your home. This is where you realized your dream of owning this home, perhaps had your first child, started your business, danced around the kitchen table after signing the big corporate deal, made love to your partner, and watched little Jamie take his first steps. It might also be a space signifying struggle, heartache and pain – and now you have to say goodbye. It’s all very complicated at a heart level and most folks don’t know how to approach this time and process
STOP CALLING IT ‘HOME’ Too many sellers sabotage the process and hold on with double doses of superglue! You intensify emotional attachment, heartache and stress, by continually referring to this space as your ‘home.’ Yes, of course it has been your home, but one of the shifts to make is to consider yourself, from this moment onwards, as a custodian of this space and start thinking of your home as a house. The challenge is that from now on, every time you speak about it or think about it (after you have done the emotional closure that Kate’s teaches), is to always use the term HOUSE instead of home! Better yet, think of it as a guesthouse always ready to welcome new guests. You can catch Kate live on the radio sharing her home selling tips to Shado Twala on SAFM
CATCH A WAKE UP ABOUT WHAT’S LURKING IN EVERY CORNER Most sellers do a little tidy up around the house, but 88% of the homes I get called into just don’t take this seriously! You keep thinking you will clear out properly when you finally pack the boxes and move. Beep! Buyers will open cupboards, and more importantly, they will get a “feel” of the house. If it feels stuffy, cluttered and overfull, they’ll feel stifled in the space even if it is seemingly the perfect house for them on paper and budget-wise. The moment you decide to sell, please get stuck into de-cluttering every single inch of your space. You need to, as I like to refer to it,  Zap Your Kr@p – Not only will it make your house appear more spacious and light for the buyer, but you will also not lug any “stuff” that no longer serves you into the next phase of your life.A house move is an ideal time to purge at every level. Let go and live a little lighter, taking only that which you love, use and respect into your new home.If YOU fill up too much of the house, there is no room for the buyer to breathe life into this space. Tone down that bright cerise wall, get rid of 75% of your objets d’art and remove the 30 family photographs stuck on the wall! Buyers need to be able to envisage THEMSELVES living in this space.

CallMeEM has 250 followers on Instagram and can often be found interactin g with Jamie Scott, Skylar Jagielski, Madison Landry, Jamie Scott, Nathan. Smith, Dre Fields, Chuck Scolnik, and Michael Gatina
THE BACKSTORY:
Emerson Gatina is the oldest child of Rachel Gatina, a result of a one night stand her mother had. Her mother wanted nothing to do with her at the time and her father wasn’t capable of supporting her, which is how Emerson ended up in foster care for most of her life. It wasn’t the best situation, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as some people she knew. When she was 6, Emerson was placed in the care of a very wealthy, very nice family who couldn’t have children of their own. They had two adopted children, fraternal twins that were two years older than she was. She attended school in Charlotte with them and they grew to be her family. Emerson had asked questions about her parents throughout her teen years, but no one really seemed to have the answers that she wanted. She wasn’t thrilled at the idea of her parents abandoning her, but she understood that it was probably better for her this way than it would have been had they decided to keep her.
Emerson is everything her mother was not, her polar opposite in every way. She loved school and found it very easy, even managed to graduate with the twins - two years before she was supposed to. She had lots of scholarship offers because of her 4.0 GPA and test scores, but she didn’t really want to venture out too far from Charlotte, so she ended up accepting a full scholarship to Tree Hill University. She graduated with Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. She wasn’t really sure what she wanted to do next, so she decided to take some time off to explore Tree Hill. She found that she really enjoyed the quaint little town and all the people in it. Currently, Emerson works in Human Resources at Tree Hill’s Hospital.
RELATIONSHIPS
Skylar Jagielski: Best friends
Chuck Scolnik: Emmerson and Chuck click in a way that she's never experienced before.
Jamie Scott, Dre Fields, Nathan Smith, & Madison Landry:  Chuck's friend group has become her friend group. She's not really mad about it either. Madison is actually the first person that Emmerson tells about the Rachel situation.
Michael Gatina: Had Emmerson really known that her biological mother was in Tree Hill, she probably would've picked another town to explore. Considering she worked at the hospital, it was really only a matter of time before she bumped into Rachel.  The plot twist though, was finding out that she had a younger brother too - one that got to live with their mother.

Cyclone Hit Millions Across Africa 400,000 People Rendered Homeless - UN, Red Cross Confirms
Tumblr media
The Worst Weather Related Disaster Confirmed as Cyclone Hit Millions Across Africa hundreds of thousands of people  Rendered Homeless. Cyclone winds and floods that swept across southeastern Africa affected more than 2.6 million people and could rank as one of the worst weather related disasters recorded in the southern hemisphere, U.N. officials said on Tuesday. Rescue crews are still struggling to reach victims five days after Cyclone Idai raced in at speeds of up to 170 kph (105 mph) from the Indian Ocean into Mozambique, then its inland neighbors Zimbabwe and Malawi. Aid groups said many survivors were trapped in remote areas, surrounded by wrecked roads, flattened buildings and submerged villages, while the Red Cross said at least 400,000 people had been made homeless in central Mozambique alone.
Tumblr media
“This is the worst humanitarian crisis in Mozambique’s history,” said Jamie LeSueur, who is leading rescue efforts in Beira for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The organization said large areas to the west of the port city of Beira were severely flooded, and in places close to the Buzi and Pungwe rivers flood waters are meters deep, completely submerging homes, telephone poles and trees. “The scale of suffering and loss is still not clear, and we expect that the number of people affected as well as the number of people who have lost their lives may rise,” LeSueur said. The official death count in Mozambique stands at 84 - but its president Filipe Nyusi said on Monday he had flown over some of the worst-hit zones, seen bodies floating in rivers and now estimated more than 1,000 people may have died. The cyclone hit land near Beira on Thursday and moved inland throughout the weekend, leaving heavy rains in its trail on Tuesday. Studies of satellite images suggested 1.7 million people were in the path of the cyclone in Mozambique and another 920,000 affected in Malawi, Herve Verhoosel, senior spokesman at the U.N World Food Programme said. It gave no figures for Zimbabwe. In Maputo, Mozambique’s capital, people were worried about relatives they had not heard from. Telma fa Gloria, a street vendor, told Reuters she had not heard from her mother, who she usually speaks to every day, or her siblings, for days. Her mother’s neighborhood was in one of the worst-hit areas. “I’m stitched up, with nothing to do,” she said, adding she was thinking of going to Beira to find out what had happened. “I don’t have the strength to get the news I don’t want to hear, and I don’t wish anyone to hear.” WORST FEARS Heavy rains preceded the cyclone, compounding the problems. “If the worst fears are realized ... then we can say that it is one of the worst weather-related disasters, tropical-cyclone-related disasters in the southern hemisphere,” said Clare Nullis of the U.N. World Meteorological Organization.

Droughts are classed as climate-related not weather-related. In Beira, a low-lying coastal city of 500,000 people, Nullis said the water had nowhere to drain. “This is not going to go away quickly,” she said. Mark Ellul, a 31-year-old British doctor from Manchester who was working at the Beira hospital when the storm hit the city on Thursday, was trapped in a hotel room. He said the hospital suffered significant damage. “It was pretty terrifying during the storm, extremely noisy, frightening and you can hear the flying debris outside,” Ellul said. “It felt like the windows were going to break, like the storm was going to come into the room.” VERBATIM: "Hero" chased off mosque gunman Beira is also home to Mozambique’s second largest port, which serves as a gateway to landlocked countries in the region. The control room of a pipeline that runs from Beira to Zimbabwe and supplies the majority of that country’s fuel has been damaged, Zimbabwe’s Energy Minister Jorum Gumbo told state-owned Herald newspaper on Tuesday. “We, however, have enough stocks in the country and I am told the repairs at Beira may take a week,” he was quoted as saying. AID ON THE WAY The European Union announced on Tuesday an initial emergency aid package of 3.5 million euros ($3.97 million) to Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe for logistical support to reach affected people, emergency shelters, hygiene, sanitation and health care. Britain has pledged up to 6 million pounds ($7.96 million) in aid. Citizens in Zimbabwe are mobilizing donations, including cash, food and clothes to help thousands of families whose homes were wrecked by the cyclone. President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who visited Chimanimani on Tuesday, told reporters that Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates were also sending donations while neighbors, including South Africa, Botswana and Angola, would also help. Madison Abigail Landry || 26 || FC: Madelyn Cline
MaddsLandry has 999K followers on instagram and can often be found interacting with Jamie Scott, Chuck Scolnik, Dre Fields, and Emerson Gatina.
THE BACKSTORY:
Madison is the only daughter to Caroline Landry and has lived in Tree Hill her entire life. Her father died when she was a baby and she doesn’t really remember him. Throughout her school career, Madison played softball. She was the star pitcher for her high school team all four years and had an opportunity to play in college. She chose to accept a full scholarship to UCLA to continue playing the game she loved so much. While at UCLA, Madison pursued a degree in Education. She always had a knack for tutoring and thought that teaching could be something that she genuinely enjoyed.
During her junior year at UCLA, Madison got an opportunity to talk to the head coach at Oklahoma Spark, who was very interested in having Madison play for their team starting fall. Madison worked out her schedule so that she could graduate early. Madison played one season for Spark before she tore her rotator cuff and developed facet syndrome. As much as she loved the game, she knew it was time to let it go before something worse happened.
It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was something she knew that she needed to make. The next logical choice was to move back to Tree Hill. She didn’t want to be thousands of miles away from her family anymore if she didn’t have to. Currently, Madison is a teacher and head softball coach at Tree Hill High.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Jamie Scott: Best friend / confidant
Chuck Scolnik: Madison has a soft spot for Chuck and has always been willing to help him, however she can. She's basically been his tutor since third grade.
Dre Fields: Madison and Dre aren't quite as close as she and Jamie are, but she's always been there for him.
Emerson Gatina: Emmerson and Madison have been getting closer lately. She was really surprised to be one of the first people that Emmerson told about her parent situation.
