A statement from Blackface’s lawyer, Mani Enajeroh of M.O Enajeroh, after the adjournment of the case reads, ”The Copyright system in Nigeria will eventually kill every iota of creativity in Nigerian music, unless someone takes up this issue of royalties. Even though we don’t have functioning collective societies that doesn’t mean we can’t be fair to one another. Because of speaking out about this Blackface was sued for N50m. That’s why it’s important that this case must be struck out. The case is a threat to freedom of expression, and intellectual property in general. We are confident that the Court will strike out the case. This is a copyright issue, no matter how you look at it and it ought to be at the Federal High Court. Look at their court documents, they did not admit anywhere that Blackface wrote “Let somebody love you”. The stories are never consistent.” Read the full article

More Buildings Collapse In Lagos, Ibadan - Families And Businesses In Great Lost
Tragedy Strikes Again - More Buildings Collapse In Lagos, Ibadan - Families And Businesses In Great Lost. The wave of building collapse has cost Nigeria so much in assets and human capital. Although, it may not be difficult to quantify properties, human lives cannot be quantified and each time a building collapses, lives and properties go with it. This has had far-reaching effect on the psyche of those affected because since live has no duplicate, once it is lost, it is lost forever. The effect of building collapse is enormous but because it kept repeating itself, in majority of times in the same method, it seems as government is not doing enough to check it. The opinion that government is not doing enough stemmed from the fact that live is becoming cheap that after mourning victims of an incident, in no distance time, another one happens and it also goes into archives. Some postulations have been made pointing to why building collapse would continue to be with us. Many people really detest the horror of beholding building collapse where casualties are recorded, yet little efforts have been put in the fireworks to eradicate the scourge. The fact that people don’t like building collapse does not mean, it will not happen even if nothing is done to forestall the incident. This is because factors contributing to building collapse in Lagos are similar to that in Abuja, Port Harcourt and other major cities in the country. It has been a major concern in Nigeria as it threatens human lives and properties because of its occurrence at close intervals. People erect buildings without considering some factors and codes which are necessary to put in place before embarking on any development and this, calls for a reason to emphasize on the remedies to put an end to these disasters. Experts have posited various factors responsible for the incessant causes of building collapse in Nigeria. According the experts, the use of substandard materials, coupled with the activities of quacks which have inexorably contributed to the incidence of building collapse. Some of the major causes of building collapse include but not limited to bad design, fire, lack of proper supervision, faulty construction and alteration of approved drawings etc. as well as the effects and problems caused by building collapse. Useful suggestions were proffered as corrective measures. Also far reaching recommendations have been made, even though they are not adhered to by developers and project supervisors. Following the collapse of the five-storey building under construction in Lekki, there have been outcry for residents in Lagos State for relevant authorities to sit up and address the issue in order to avoid a repeat. The sad incident which occurred at Horizon 1, Lekki Gardens, Ikate around a couple of years ago claimed 30 lives, while 13 more were rescued from the rubble by workers from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the National Emergency Management Agency. Such waste of lives and dreams can be avoided if society buckles up and focuses on key issues relating to structural development of buildings both in residential and official parts of the Lagos metropolis and other cities nationwide. Everyone has a part to play. Several studies show that buildings cave in as a result of factors such as inefficiency on the parts of workmen as well as unprofessional attitudes towards erecting and maintaining structures in the state. Some building engineers and contractors tend to believe everything is about profit-making and in a bid to cut corners they end up creating a hazard for many others who get to occupy these properties afterwards. In Nigeria like any other countries in the world, building collapse menace is growing at an alarming rate, seemingly uncontrollable or beyond control. The incessant buildings collapse in Nigeria has become a great concern to all the stakeholders and the professionals in the building industry, government, private developers, clients and users, as well as the residents. Fall out of these ugly concern about the increasing incidents of collapse building nation-wide form the basis for which experts look to find out the major causes and probable remedial measures to collapse of buildings in Nigeria. Many lives and properties have been lost in the collapse of buildings mostly in Port Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos respectively. Many property owners have developed high blood pressure and some have been sent to an early grave. According to Windapo, “frequent types of buildings that collapse are residential buildings which are either on two, three or four floors.” In the words of Dada, “Structural Failure has become recurring decimal, a worrisome menace nightmare and an enduring embarrassment”. The horrifying scene of structural failure is no longer news breaker this time around. Really, incidents of collapsed buildings, collapsed bridges or collapsed structures of various types are not peculiar to Nigeria alone. But the current situation is becoming more rampant and embarrassing, most especially as it relates to Lagos State where there are more high rise buildings springing up on a daily bases. The aggregate percentage of building collapse occurrence between 1987 and 1992 and between 1993 and 1998 was the same as well as annual percentage of reported cases within the same period. The same happened between year 2000 and up to date. This implies that, between 1987 and 1992, 13.68 per cent of the total collapse occurred; the same between 1993 and 1998. But 1987 recorded the highest frequency of collapse between 1987 and 1992 with a frequency of 7 cases, about 5 per cent of the total period and 37 per cent for the class interval. Within the interval, 1991 has the lowest reported cases of 2 amounting to about 10 per cent. 1995 appears to be the modal year in reported cases of collapse between 1993 and 1998 when 8 cases were recorded which amounts to 5.76 per cent of the total and over 42 per cent for the class interval. The least frequency of 1 case, about 0.72 per cent occurred in 1993. The class interval that witnessed highest number of reported cases was between 1999 and 2003 followed by 2004 and 2008. Professionals are more concerned that we have kept adding to the list when we should be making history of them all. Government should therefore change the style of controlling building collapse since the system hitherto in use has failed and not giving any positive result. Read the full article

Trump Supporter
On today's breaking news one of the supporters of President Donald Trump pleaded guilty yesterday Thursday to mailing crude bombs to prominent Democrats including former president Barack Obama and former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Cesar Sayoc, 57, who was arrested in Florida in October, pleaded guilty to 65 counts and could face life imprisonment at his sentencing in September. Appearing in court in a blue prison jumpsuit, and with his hair pulled into a gray ponytail, he apologised for his actions during an appearance in a US District Court in New York. Reading a statement prepared with his lawyers, he admitted he fashioned the homemade devices from materials including plastic piping, a digital alarm clock with electric wiring attached, fireworks and glass fragments. “I know these actions were wrong and I am sorry,” he told the court, in a barely audible, choked voice. The slew of charges relates to 16 package bombs Sayoc sent from a Florida post office to leading Democrats as well as the Manhattan offices of CNN. Besides Obama and Clinton, those targeted included billionaire George Soros, former president Bill Clinton, former vice president Joe Biden, actor Robert De Niro and several Democratic lawmakers, including 2020 presidential hopefuls Cory Booker and Kamala Harris. None of the packages exploded and most did not come anywhere near their intended recipients. “Our democracy will simply not survive if our political discourse includes sending bombs to those we disagree with,” said General John C. Demers, Assistant Attorney for the National Security Division, following the hearing. “I applaud the efforts of so many in our law enforcement community whose alertness and tirelessness led to the prompt arrest of the defendant.” Sayoc had initially been charged with 30 counts, already putting him at risk of life in prison. His guilty plea does not guarantee a more lenient sentence — but Judge Jed Rakoff stressed he did not have to hand down a life sentence in September. A former strip club manager and bodybuilder and martial arts practitioner, Sayoc was an ardent supporter of Trump, who has rejected accusations that his rhetoric fuels extremism. Sayoc, who lived in a white truck plastered with pro-Trump and anti-Democrat stickers, was arrested in Florida five days after the first device was discovered in Soros’s upstate New York mailbox. The episode heightened political tensions in the lead-up to the November 6 US midterm elections, which saw Democrats gain control of the House of Representatives while Republicans retained control of the Senate. Police found Sayoc’s fingerprints and DNA on the packages. Sayoc has a criminal record dating back to 1991, peppered with convictions for theft, fraud, violence and a threat to blow up his electric utility company. Read the full article

Justice John Adeyeye, who handed down the sentence held that the duo were guilty of the two-count charge of armed robbery and conspiracy preferred against them. In this new age is good to see that some people still have integrity in good or bad situation. Here's a briefings on why BBNaija star, Alex Osugwo, rejected a 2018 Range Rover from a certain person who gave it to her as a birthday gift. On February 15th, BBNaija star, Alex Osugwo turned 23 years old. Her friend, Swanky Jerry on his birthday message to her which he shared on his IG page, revealed that Alex rejected a 2018 Range Rover from a certain person who gave it to her as a birthday gift. In a fresh interview with Punch, Alex gave reasons for rejecting the car many would die to have. According to her, “I rejected the first car I received on my birthday. For me, it was not just about the gift but where it was coming from. The second car given to me was from love. Responsible fans put their money together to get me the car, while the former was from someone who liked me. It is okay to like me but I didn’t feel it was right to collect a car from an admirer. He could decide to collect the car from me anytime he felt like. If I collected the car and I told him I didn’t want a relationship later, what would happen?”. Speaking further, she said “The man felt I was too proud when I rejected the car gift. But I am not a proud lady. I know many girls will take the vehicle; it was a 2018 Range Rover (for crying out loud). But I am Alex Unusual; I am not the type who can be wooed with material things.” Read the full article

Cyclone Hit Millions Across Africa 400,000 People Rendered Homeless - UN, Red Cross Confirms
The Worst Weather Related Disaster Confirmed as Cyclone Hit Millions Across Africa hundreds of thousands of people Rendered Homeless. Cyclone winds and floods that swept across southeastern Africa affected more than 2.6 million people and could rank as one of the worst weather related disasters recorded in the southern hemisphere, U.N. officials said on Tuesday. Rescue crews are still struggling to reach victims five days after Cyclone Idai raced in at speeds of up to 170 kph (105 mph) from the Indian Ocean into Mozambique, then its inland neighbors Zimbabwe and Malawi. Aid groups said many survivors were trapped in remote areas, surrounded by wrecked roads, flattened buildings and submerged villages, while the Red Cross said at least 400,000 people had been made homeless in central Mozambique alone.
“This is the worst humanitarian crisis in Mozambique’s history,” said Jamie LeSueur, who is leading rescue efforts in Beira for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The organization said large areas to the west of the port city of Beira were severely flooded, and in places close to the Buzi and Pungwe rivers flood waters are meters deep, completely submerging homes, telephone poles and trees. “The scale of suffering and loss is still not clear, and we expect that the number of people affected as well as the number of people who have lost their lives may rise,” LeSueur said. The official death count in Mozambique stands at 84 - but its president Filipe Nyusi said on Monday he had flown over some of the worst-hit zones, seen bodies floating in rivers and now estimated more than 1,000 people may have died. The cyclone hit land near Beira on Thursday and moved inland throughout the weekend, leaving heavy rains in its trail on Tuesday. Studies of satellite images suggested 1.7 million people were in the path of the cyclone in Mozambique and another 920,000 affected in Malawi, Herve Verhoosel, senior spokesman at the U.N World Food Programme said. It gave no figures for Zimbabwe. In Maputo, Mozambique’s capital, people were worried about relatives they had not heard from. Telma fa Gloria, a street vendor, told Reuters she had not heard from her mother, who she usually speaks to every day, or her siblings, for days. Her mother’s neighborhood was in one of the worst-hit areas. “I’m stitched up, with nothing to do,” she said, adding she was thinking of going to Beira to find out what had happened. “I don’t have the strength to get the news I don’t want to hear, and I don’t wish anyone to hear.” WORST FEARS Heavy rains preceded the cyclone, compounding the problems. “If the worst fears are realized ... then we can say that it is one of the worst weather-related disasters, tropical-cyclone-related disasters in the southern hemisphere,” said Clare Nullis of the U.N. World Meteorological Organization.
Droughts are classed as climate-related not weather-related. In Beira, a low-lying coastal city of 500,000 people, Nullis said the water had nowhere to drain. “This is not going to go away quickly,” she said. Mark Ellul, a 31-year-old British doctor from Manchester who was working at the Beira hospital when the storm hit the city on Thursday, was trapped in a hotel room. He said the hospital suffered significant damage. “It was pretty terrifying during the storm, extremely noisy, frightening and you can hear the flying debris outside,” Ellul said. “It felt like the windows were going to break, like the storm was going to come into the room.” VERBATIM: "Hero" chased off mosque gunman Beira is also home to Mozambique’s second largest port, which serves as a gateway to landlocked countries in the region. The control room of a pipeline that runs from Beira to Zimbabwe and supplies the majority of that country’s fuel has been damaged, Zimbabwe’s Energy Minister Jorum Gumbo told state-owned Herald newspaper on Tuesday. “We, however, have enough stocks in the country and I am told the repairs at Beira may take a week,” he was quoted as saying. AID ON THE WAY The European Union announced on Tuesday an initial emergency aid package of 3.5 million euros ($3.97 million) to Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe for logistical support to reach affected people, emergency shelters, hygiene, sanitation and health care. Britain has pledged up to 6 million pounds ($7.96 million) in aid. Citizens in Zimbabwe are mobilizing donations, including cash, food and clothes to help thousands of families whose homes were wrecked by the cyclone. President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who visited Chimanimani on Tuesday, told reporters that Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates were also sending donations while neighbors, including South Africa, Botswana and Angola, would also help. Why I Rejected $100m DEAL From US Broadcaster DAZN - Deontay Wilder REVEALS
Why I Rejected $100m DEAL From US broadcaster, DAZN - Deontay Wilder REVEALS. The news came as a blow to fans hoping for a guaranteed undisputed title bout with Anthony Joshua, because it was claimed an agreement would have ensured that fight takes place in 2019. Last week, fans were given what turned out to be false hope as it emerged that Wilder would be meeting with the streaming service, who also broadcast AJ in America. It was reported that the WBC heavyweight champion was offered upwards of $100million for three fights against Dominic Breazeale, Joshua and then AJ again in a rematch. However it’s now understood his team will reject the offer and, when asked about this, the American explained why. “So many people try to dictate my career and tell me, ‘I should do this, I should do that, I shouldn’t do this, I shouldn’t do that’,” Wilder said. “$12.5m is laughable now, $15m is laughable. All this stuff I was supposed to have done, I didn’t do none of that and now look at my career. “I’m betting on myself and you can’t go wrong with yourself. “I love being a free agent, I love being able to move about doing what I do and we’ll see what the future holds.” Wilder was set to announce his next fight, which would be against Breazeale regardless – on Tuesday. Speculation suggested it would be broadcast on Showtime pay-per-view in America, as was his previous bout against Tyson Fury. Read the full article

Chelsea Loses To Everton At 0-2 And Derails In Top-Four Chase
Chelsea Loses To Everton At 0-2 And Derails In Top-Four Chase. Goals from forward Richarlison and midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson helped Everton beat Chelsea 2-0 in the English Premier League on Sunday, denting the London side’s hopes of finishing in the top four. Brazil’s Richarlison headed Marco Silva’s side in front from close range in the 49th minute after Kepa Arrizabalaga had kept out striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s powerful header from Sigurdsson’s corner kick. Everton went 2-0 up in the 72nd minute when Sigurdsson put the ball past Arrizabalaga from the rebound after his penalty kick was saved by the Chelsea goalkeeper. This was after a foul in the box on Richarlison by Marcos Alonso. “It would be easier for me just to speak about the second half. The first half, I didn’t like it at all. We were not there from the first minute,” Silva said. “I told our players at half-time they have to do everything different. And they did. They showed great attitude, character and personality.” Everton were a transformed side in the second half and went close two minutes after the break, when midfielder Andre Gomes forced a save with a stinging shot from distance. They then took full control of the contest. Chelsea had been unlucky not to score after a good start. Eden Hazard’s drive was saved by Jordan Pickford in the sixth minute, before he hit the post a minute later. Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain had a shot cleared off the line. Everton climbed to 11th with 40 points from 31 matches while defeat meant that sixth-placed Chelsea stayed on 57 points from 30 games. They are a point behind Manchester United above them and three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal. Coach Maurizio Sarri was at a loss to explain his side’s collapse. “I don’t know and the players don’t know what happened in the second half,” the Italian said. “I cannot explain it. We played the best first half in the season and we could have scored four or five and then suddenly we stopped playing. It’s strange and we stopped to defend and counter-attack. “The problem was mental on the pitch, so the system and the tactics are not important. “It wasn’t about motivation because we started very well. We have to play eight matches now and we have to fight for our possibilities.” Read the full article

What Will Happen If PDP Was Voted Into Power Again - Says President Buhari
President buhari at an interview stated what will happen if PDP was voted into power again. Below is what he in the interview. President Muhammadu Buhari has said it would be a grave mistake to return PDP to power at any level of governance, considering what they did to the country in their 16 years of rule. The President said these, yesterday, when he and other leaders of All Progressives Congress, APC, stormed the state as part of his campaigns for re-election and the election of other APC candidates ahead of the polls. He also added that his government would make Ajaokuta Steel Company, ASC, work to ensure massive employment of Nigerians, especially residents of Ajaokuta, Vanguard reports. There was total lock down in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, during the rally, as streets and roads leading to the Lokoja Township Stadium venue of the event witnessed unprecedented human traffic, as party faithful and others trooped to welcome President Buhari to the state. All available spaces in the stadium, as well as its environs, were flooded with party faithful and supporters. The President thanked the people of Lokoja for the reception, berating previous administrations for wasting $16 billion on power without a commensurate outcome, noting that his efforts in the sector had yielded more results than his predecessors. Speaking, the Director General of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Rotimi Amaechi, said the election was between the looters and the looted, saying “they said there is hunger in the land. Yes, there is hunger because PDP looted everything. They want to come back and continue their looting. “PDP is hungry and desperate to come back to power. They want to get into power so that they can find a means into looting for another four years. If you don’t reject them, they will come back and steal. PDP can only thrive in corruption.” On his part, Governor Yahaya Bello said the mammoth crowd that came to welcome the President was a sign of acceptance of the party in the state, calling on the people to vote for the party in the forthcoming elections. Bello said: “There is only one party in Kogi State as far as we are concerned; it is APC. The people believe in you (Buhari), that was why they trooped out on such a short notice.” The governor urged the electorate not to reinvent failure by voting any PDP candidate at any level of tier of governments.
