here you go my sweet nonnie! this is my first time writing for Jamie so I hope it doesn't suck!🤭😅

This has to stop. Jamie is like a body without a soul. For the past four days, he’s been walking around the apartment like a ghost. He’s supposed to undergo yet another shoulder surgery.

You thought he was ready for it since he had undergone it before but seeing him so anxious about it is something you didn’t expect.

“Jamie,” you start carefully not wanting to startle him as he’s sitting on the couch focused on the game playing on the tv.  

“Mhmm?” he nods his head but doesn’t look at you, his eyes never leaving the game. You walk over to him, sitting next to him, your knee hitting his leg.

“What is going on?” you nudge his knee, tilting your head to the side.

“Nothing.” He sends you a tipped-lipped smile.

“Jaimie, I know you,” you sigh, turning more at him, now sitting cross-legged on the couch. “Don’t even start with that.”

“Baby,” he looks over at you, his head thrown slightly backward. “I don’t really want to talk about that.”

“But I want to talk about it. I can see how it’s eating you alive,” you place your hand on his tight, giving it a tender squeeze. “What is going on?” you ask shaking with his tight. “Is it the surgery?”

Jaimie looks at you, the anxiety in his eyes is looking straight at you. “Yeah,” he nods, taking in a deep breath. He turns to look at your hands gripping yours. “I-I know I shouldn’t have been anxious about it when I underwent that same one, but it’s scary,” you bring your hands to your lips kissing his knuckles. “Something can go wrong and my entire career is in shit.”

“I know baby, but the doctors know what to do, and they do this surgery on a daily basis. I know it can be scary, but you’ll be okay. And in a few months, you’ll have the first game of the new season.” You smile at him, giving his hands a reassuring squeeze.

“Yeah, but what if somethi-“ he tries to say but you shut him off by pressing your lips on his in a deep loving kiss.

“No ‘what if’s’. Everything will be okay, baby, no need to stress about those things.” You stroke his cheeks with your thumbs, the soft skin of your palms against his scared skin on his cheeks is something that can calm him down every time.

“Thank you, y/n,” he let out a sigh, a tear sliding down his cheek. “So much. I don’t know what I would do without you.” He kisses your palm and then your fingertips.

“Starved probably,” you giggle when you see the pout on his lips. “No I’m kidding, you would be fine without me.”

Jaimie, laughs, laying his head on your breasts. You shift under him in a lying position so he’s now lying flat on top of you between your tights.

“I love you y/n. And when I’ll have after surgery, we’ll drive to Toronto to see my parents and you’ll spend some time with my mom.” He smiles up at you, his cheeks flushed pink a little bit.

“And I love you too, now come get some sleep. I need my nap.” You mumble in his hair, earning a low chuckle from him. Before you draft to your sweet dreams, you feel his lips pressed against your left upper breast, right where your heart is. This is what he does every time before sleeping. Kissing your heart so you know he loves you so fucking much.

Ok but how did Phoebe contact Jamie to invite him to uncles day? Did she email him? Slide into his dms using her hot moms Twitter account? Accost him in the Richmond parking lot? I need answers

I truly think Jamie has met Phoebe before (because of course he has, he hangs out with Roy all the time. Roy is constantly talking about him to the point where Phoebe has no choice but to assume Roy would want him there with him on the best holiday of the year). And therefore he has at least briefly met Phoebe's mother in past.

So probably, Roy gave Jamie's number to his sister just in case, because I like to think Roy gets paranoid over insane scenarios he's made up in his head and convinced himself could absolutely definitely happen, and Jamie is low-key his emergency contact now, and it spirals from there. Roy's brain at 3:00 a.m. while he’s getting ready to go over to Jamie's house, running non-stop like: "but what if my sister needs to call me about something urgent that's happened to Phoebe but I'm unreachable because my knee gave out while Jamie and I were jogging by the Thames and when I went down my phone flew out of my pocket and shattered along the concrete and when Jamie was helping me up he accidentally kicked it into the water? So then when she can’t reach me my sister tries to call Keeley, but of course Keeley's not up because it's 5:00 a.m. so she also misses this important call...but wait!...who do I always happen to be with who also happens to be attached at the hip to his cell phone and would never ever miss a call?" and that is how he gruffly slides his sister Jamie Tartt's cell phone number written on a slip of paper in his terrible chicken-scratch and tells her to put it in her phone contact list strictly for emergencies.

Roy's sister of course recognizes the power she wields here and abuses it immediately. amen.

Time loop fic set during season 2 when Jamie’s back around but Roy isn’t coaching yet where it takes Jamie and Roy an embarrassing amount of do-overs before they finally realize they’re both caught in it because for days Jamie goes over to Keeley’s place and antagonizes Roy in basically the exact same way because he thinks making the same stupid old man jokes all the time is funny anyway and any slight changes in conversation he just assumes is because he showed up at a different time or worded his own end of the conversation a little differently but Roy’s still basically saying the same grumpy old man shit anyway

And Roy makes basically the same retorts every time because he stands by it and he assumes Jamie shows up at slightly different times looking for Keeley as a butterfly effect of his morning with Keeley being different but that there’s no escaping him showing up to be a little bitch at some point

And like they both sometimes tell people but not the same people on the same version of the day so Keeley individually thinks that both of them are losing it on different versions of the day before eventually they both mention it

And then on like day 5 of the same day over and over Jamie doesn’t show up and Roy is irrationally angry about it but thinks it must be somehow connected to the fact that he was acting absolutely insane with Keeley trying to explain what’s happening while she thought he was fucking with her and somehow that made her brush off Jamie and him not show up or something?

And it takes Jamie showing up at 100 and just tearing Roy apart and going on about what a dick he is (which isn’t unusual but isn’t how this routine goes) and weirdly fixating on how he was excited to meet Roy but then he ended up just being an old washed up prick that never even gave him a chance because Jamie figures he can just show up, yell at Roy for all the reasons he’s so fixated on being a little asshole with a grudge against Roy in particular to get it out of his system, and then never have to deal with any consequences of Roy finding out about the whole embarrassing having been a big fan and expecting it to be so cool to play on a team with him just to immediately get offended that Roy didn’t give a shit about him and his bullshit and so Jamie ended up hating him thing

But instead Roy just scowls at him and is like “that’s not what you’re supposed to say” and Jamie’s like “…what.” And Roy’s like I’ve done this day like ten times already and either I make Keeley think I’m certifiable first thing in the morning and you don’t show up or else you show up looking for her and then make the same completely uncreative old man jokes at me and Jamie’s like what the fuck I’ve been doing this same day over and over and you’ve been making the same shitty jokes that weren’t funny the first time over and over again

And Keeley’s just sitting there watching this like “Are you two fucking with me? I can’t believe you two got along long enough to plan whatever the fuck this is.” And honestly, the fact that she couldn’t imagine them ever getting along to plan this stupid joke and agree on it is the main reason she actually starts to believe them that time in an okay either I’ve completely lost it or you two are stuck in a time loop kind of way and when she starts going on about how every time loop movie there’s like a moral the person has to learn and maybe they’re both caught in it because they’re supposed to learn how to get along and be friends and Roy’s supposed to take Ted’s offer and that’s how Jamie finds out about the Ted trying to convince Roy to coach thing

But they’re both like fuck no absolutely not, that’s not it and I’d rather be stuck in this stupid fucking loop forever than voluntarily spend time with him let alone get along (as if Jamie hasn’t shown up to annoy him practically every version of the day and Roy hasn’t just been sitting there waiting for him every time) and then they actively avoid each other for like a week’s worth of versions of the same day before they start considering that Keeley might have been on to something but it still takes three more days of pointedly not seeking the other out and waiting for the other to give in first before they run into each other at Ted’s place anyway and finally start actually swapping information they’ve picked up from their loops and what they’ve tried changing to try to get out and discussing ways to try to get out of it while Ted’s just sitting there cracking jokes and making annoyingly similar to what Keeley said comments about how in time loop and body switch things it’s always that you have to learn to see things from another perspective and be nicer to someone you don’t usually see eye to eye with before you can get out (Ted doesn’t actually believe they’re stuck in a time loop though, he’s just going well weird hypothetical but I’ll play along if this almost certainly made up scenario is what it takes for them to have an actual conversation with each other)

I think if you asked Keeley what her pronouns are she would tell you she/her, but they/them is fine too, and then she'd ask you for yours. If you asked Roy what his pronouns are he would start to say "I'm a man" (not out of malice, he just forgets that that isn't a sufficient answer) but then remember what Keeley taught him and sagely be like "....Him." And give you a firm nod to silently communicate that he's an ally. If you asked Jamie what his pronouns are he would be like "Jay-mee ❤️ but if u can't say it that's okay ❤️" because he doesn't know what pronouns are and thinks you're saying "pronounce"

You mentioned is one of your WIP posts about how the Richmond coaches share repairability of the players, I would love to hear your thoughts on who belongs to who?

Not only do I have thoughts, I have a whole chart.

The way this works in my mind is that it's a combination of how helpful the coach actually is when the player has a problem, how likely to player is to go to the coach for help and how well they get along just as people.

We'll start with Roy. Roy's only got a couple of players that are really his problem, for a couple reasons. One, Roy is scary and unapproachable but also two, Roy became a coach after most of the players had already cemented themselves as either Ted or Beards problems. That leaves Roy with Isaac and Jamie.

Jamie as Roy's problem is self explanatory. Ted fumbles the bag with Jamie every time he tries, and Beard kind of freaks Jamie out, so he doesn't usually go to him for help. We all agree Jamie is Roy's problem.

Isaac is also Roy's problem. This has canon basis, I can cite my sources but for convenience sake I'll paraphrase my reasoning and that is that Roy was a lot more instrumental to Isaacs development than any of the other coaches. Roy is the one who chose Isaac as the next captain, it was Roy who helped Isaac through his slump in season two before Roy had even come back to be a coach, and it was Roy who spoke to Isaac after he went after that fan in the stands. Isaac is Roy's problem.

Next we'll talk about Beard. Beard in canon doesn't have a lot of one on one interaction with any of the players, so I'm going mostly on vibes for the players that are his problem.

That's why Bumbercatch is mainly Beards problem. I think their weird girl energies line up pretty well, and when Bumbercatch is doing weird things Ted doesn't know how to handle, Beard is usually able to step in. Jan Maas is also mostly Beards problem, because Jan Maas appreciates Beards direct but minimal approach to coaching.

Colin is also a good balance of Ted's problem and Beard's problem with a slight lean towards being Beards problem. Not because Colin actually goes to Beard for help that often, more because Beard decided Colin was his problem and keeps an eye on him when he can. I was actually tempted to make a little circle that included Trent and put Colin there, because that is who Colin actually goes too for help more often than not, but in terms of The Coaches, Colin is usually Beards problem.

Zoreaux and Richard were tricky for me, because they don't do a lot in canon so I think they both fall under the general umbrella of being Ted's problem because he's the manager more often than not, but I think Beard is pretty involved with the goal keepers so Zoreaux is his problem sometimes.

As for Ted, he will usually take point in issues regarding Dani or Sam. As the manager, everyone on the team is under the blanket umbrella of being his problem, but Sam and Dani will usually seek Ted specifically out for help with things on the occasions they need it and Ted is always be happy to help them to the best of his ability.

As for all the background himbos, they fall solidly in the center thanks to the fact that because they have at best vague personalities and I don't even know most of their names, so they're usually the problem of whoever is closest to them at the time.

Okay I’ve had this idea in my head FESTERING. Probs because I’ve been moving but I just think about reader being stressed out over her move cause she can’t afford to get movers and Jamie doesn’t like seeing her upset so he gets all the Richmond boys to come help her move?

Oh my god he WOULD do that.

It was only a few hours.

You had left the flat for only a few hours, to run some errands and grab a bite.

The stress of the move had taken over your thoughts and free time. Many nights had been spent in tears, either on your own or with Jamie trying and failing to comfort you.

Which explained why you were so distracted that you didn’t notice the influx of cars in front of your building, or the familiar faces who you passed on the stairs.

A wave of fear washed over you when you got to your floor and saw the front door open. Voices echoed out loudly, with music playing as well. Slowly, you approached, peaking your head, tears filling your eyes immediately.

Front and center was Jamie, as if this was planned. His back was to you while he filled up yet another box. Surrounding him in Renassaince painting style was the rest of the AFC Richmond team. Roy was moving boxes from one place to another. Sam was carefully placing your books into a box. Isaac was packing up the kitchen. It was then that you finally realized that it was Jan Maas and Moe who you passed on the stairs.

The place was almost entirely packed.

“What’s going on?” You asked. The entire room froze, Jamie spinning around to face you.

“Fuck,” He said. I was hopin’ you’d be out longer.”

You gestured to the entire room before saying, “How much did you guys do?” Jamie and Roy exchanged a look.

“All of it,” Roy said. “This is the last room.”

You were speechless as they stared at you.

“I- wh- Why?”

Jamie’a eyebrows knitted together.

“‘Cos you’ve been stressed to the heavens about it. I hate it when you cry… I wanted to surprise ya.”

You didn’t realize you were moving until you crashed into Jamie’s chest, your arms tight around him. No tears this time, just a heavy sigh of relief.

“Thank you so much.”

He kissed your forehead.

“Anything for you, love.”
