Falcon and the Winter Soldier Foil Major Heist in Downtown Manhattan

NEW YORK CITY - In a daring display of heroism, Sam Wilson, also known as Falcon, and Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, thwarted a major heist in downtown Manhattan earlier this week. The dynamic duo intercepted a group of heavily armed criminals attempting to rob a high-security vault in the Financial District.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene as the thieves, equipped with advanced weaponry and high-tech gadgets, attempted to breach the vault's defenses. Falcon swooped in just in time, using his wings to deflect gunfire and his agility to outmaneuver the criminals.

"It was incredible! Falcon came out of nowhere and started taking down the bad guys left and right," said Mícheál Walmsley, a bank employee who was present during the heist. "And then the Winter Soldier showed up and it was game over for those guys."

The Winter Soldier, known for his superhuman strength and combat skills, joined the fray, disarming and subduing the remaining criminals with precision and efficiency. The teamwork between Falcon and the Winter Soldier was seamless, showcasing their deep trust and coordination.

Authorities confirmed that the heist was orchestrated by a notorious criminal syndicate known for its sophisticated operations. Thanks to the timely intervention of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the criminals were apprehended, and no civilians were harmed.

"These two are an incredible team," said NYPD Emma Haas. "Their quick response and bravery prevented what could have been a devastating situation. We're grateful for their efforts in keeping our city safe."

King Alexander 1. of Scotland

Alexander is depicted within a painted oval, in profile, facing the right, wearing armour with a red scalloped collar, and a maroon cap with a jewel of drop pearls. This portrait is one of ninety-three bust-lengths commissioned to decorate the Great Gallery at Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh. It is painted by Jacob de Wet II, a Dutch artist working in Scotland from 1673. Together with eighteen full-lengths these portraits illustrate the genealogy of the royal house of Scotland from Fergus I (who ascended the throne in 330 BC) to James VII (who abdicated in 1689). De Wet’s iconographic scheme was based on well-known chronicles of Scottish history by the Renaissance humanists Hector Boece (Scotorum Historiae, 1527) and George Buchanan (Rerum Scoticarum Historia, 1582). The inscriptions on the paintings correspond with Buchanan’s list of Scottish kings: from left to right, these are the number and name of the king followed by the date of accession. The dates however are considerably muddled, by a later restorer or perhaps even the artist himself. Both real and legendary, their purpose was to proclaim the authority of the Stuarts as divinely appointed rulers of Scotland. Commissioned and paid for by the Scottish Privy Council, the series was intended to convey the power and greatness of the country’s governing body as much as that of their king. With no authentic likenesses on which to base his portraits of medieval kings, de Wet made extensive use of an earlier set by the Scottish artist George Jamesone, of which twenty-six survive in private collections. From this limited basis the resulting series appears rather repetitious. Much more important than their aesthetic merit therefore was the symbolic power of painting an extremely long royal lineage stretching more than two millennia. Buchanan, Rerum Scoticarum Historia (translation from 1751): surnamed Fierce, succeeded to his Brother … A very good and valiant Prince. He builded the Abbacies of Scone and of St Colm’s Inch. He married Sybilla, Daughter to William Duke of Normandy, &c. He died in Peace, without Succession, at Stirling’. Number 90 in the series. Inscribed ALEXANDER.COGNOMENTO.ACER. 1107.

This week has been filled with learning for me. From the speaker's lecture on the queer punk Latinx nightlife to Lucía, on three different women's experiences with classism, I felt more engaged with these topics than with my business administration classes.

Fredric Jameson's Third-World Literature in the Era of Multinational Capitalism examines how different readers across the world tend to digest third-world novels differently. Such that, a national allegory is understood differently from a global view. That we would acknowledge and learn of an existence of a book that is unfamiliar and scary, which is why people tend to stray away from such. With Lucía, a Cuban political movie on revolutionary women in three different decades, Jameson examines the relationship to what is "third-world" and the United States's perspective of these "third-world" media. It is more prevalent to hide or dumb down lessons of other national stories with Western media because it is difficult to understand from a new perspective. Cuba's revolutions are hailed as a success in educating their people, something America should look at.

Jameson tries to prove that the American understanding of canon restricts our will to read anything other than our country's texts. Since first-world cultural intellectuals restrict the mindset of their life's work to narrow professionalism or bureaucratically, creates guilt.

National Allegory: the narrative that is essential to the nation-state it was made in, that all 3rd world texts are read as this to be more influential in understanding literacy production to the nation and politics

Canon: a general criterion of how something is determined

Ian Buchanan's response to Jameson's text is a reinforcement of his misunderstood text, which must be due to the fact that American readers do not like to be followers of other nations. As well, he understands that his "third-worlds" model is problematic in utilizing inner contradictions and representational inconsistencies with using the term "third-world". In terms of national allegory, Buchanan argues to try to bridge the gap between everyday information within a given nation-state and the tendency of monopolistic capitalism develops on a worldwide scale. With this, it must be examined the first-world mindset that impedes readers from America from understanding and learning from other national literacies that are not their own.

Hillenbrand's response to Jameson's text is something I relate to more heavily as I was very confused about why we were reading a text by a white man who did not understand the cultural nuances of different cultures. She also explains the Eurocentrism exhibited in explaining national allegories, which is what I was thinking of when reading his text. With Lucía, I hoped that the reception of the movie was well-received in the States instead of thinking of Jameson's faulty "third-world" model theory.

Something I have never ventured into learning about was Turkish-German cinema, and with Head-On, I have been able to see international issues and conflicts with countries that finally do not include America.

With the help of Germany's filmmaker initiative to bring migrant filmmakers overseas to create films and even create a social climate that exposes issues of ethnic differences, it was created the Turkish-German genre that explores the experiences of ethnic minorities.

In Rob Burns's analysis in Towards a Cinema of Cultural Hybridity: Turkish-German Filmmakers and the Representation of Alterity, he explains how Akin explores modernity and tradition, incarceration, and cultural hybridity with Head-On. The dynamic between conservative parents and Sibel is to be a message that examines the damage caused by stubborn, unnecessary discipline. With incarceration, it is both physical and mental, as is shown with liberation when Sibel expresses her love for him at the prison visit and shown physically when he is released with a makeover. The Turkish-German cultural hybridity is introduced whenever Sibel and Cahit speak to each other in German but in moments of vulnerability, choose to talk in Turkish.

Cultural Hybridity: exchange of ideas between cultures as a result of migration and globalization

Ana Elena Puga's Migrant melodrama and the political economy of Suffering examines the genre of migrant melodrama in depth with examples of migrant children and families. The use of utilizing Spanish and English in these films to show cultural hybridity allows Puga to make the point of how language is detrimental to the migrant genre. The struggle between a language barrier from the political climate of Mexican immigrants and the harsh American Immigration policies makes it difficult for characters in these settings to achieve their goals. With this, Head-On even shows Cahit trying to find a home in Istanbul but instead goes home to Mersin, the city he was born in to find it.

Nezih Erdogan in Star director as symptom: reflections on the reception of Fatih Akin in the Turkish media writes on how the director of Head-On was heavily examined in a German context rather than Turkish--a phenomenon that is common. Within a Turkish context. it was rare to find a well-known figure of Turkish descent in the media, therefore filling national pride within the Turkish. Giving media representation to underrepresented minorities at the time in the entertainment industry is something to note at the success of his films as well.

lennon stepped inside of their house and looked around, trying to find her girlfriends. the first person she spotted was norah. she smiled at the other and tilted her head at her. there she was again. going for the teasing angle. the woman smirked softly and covered her mouth, “well, look at you.” she said shaking her head lightly. the smirk stayed on her face.

norah’s inability to not walk around in lingerie was insatiable. the redhead played it off as if the place was hot, temperature wise. but that was never the actual case. she just liked to tease the other two. once she saw lennon, she grinned lightly, “hey you.” she said softly with a bit of a smirk across her lips as she put her hands on hr hips.

Patriarch Rhett Jameson is the judge for the county and presides over all legal proceedings in Willow Creek, Newcrest, Magnolia Promenade and Oasis Springs. The family have been the inhabitants of Orchard House since the end of the Civil War, and they count themselves both kin and kindred spirit with the prominent Adams and Buchanan families.

"So here’s his goose, we won’t be gone too long, but if he gets a bit fussy...just call us.  I left plenty of snacks for both you and Jameson.  I know...” Emy stops her talking and looks at her dad who just smiles and coos down at her son.

“Did you hear anything I said?”

“Where’s his goose?” Emy holds up Jameson’s favorite toy.  He can’t even fall asleep without it anymore.  “There it is buddy, this is what’s important.  Emilia, I raised three of you guys.  I helped raise your husband, and all the Drysdale kids.  I have waited forever for you to give me a baby, and I won’t let anything happen to this most precious boy.”

“Dad, he’s never been away from me,” while she pouts at her little boy, Joshua wraps a calming arm around her.  “Just...just call.  I will be right here.”

“He’ll be fine, darling,” Joshua presses a soft kiss to her temple, but still waits for her to make a move.

“He’s mobile now  He can’t walk, but he can pull himself up,” walking closer to his daughter, Steve gives her a hug with his free arm, and James slaps along her chest giggling.  “Okay, daddy and I will be right back,” she finally spins around to walk out of the house, but gives him one more look and smiles.  

“We’re coming back and getting fussed at in Spanish, because dad is going to let him pull out everything.”

“And we’ll clean it up, it’s not a big deal.”

Steve takes a deep breath, exhaling quickly, and Jameson returns the gesture.  Giggling up at his Pappy, before grunting.  His little legs shaking, needing to be put down.  Steve puts him down, and lets the chunky boy with the giant dimples crawl around.  His chubby little hands slapping on every surface.  Leaving his sticky residue wherever he goes.

Steve should have listened to his daughter, because the moment he took his eyes off of Jameson for five seconds, he was gone.  Crawling ridiculously fast, and laughing hysterically when Steve chases after him.

“You turkey, slow down,” unable to catch him, he just flattens out on the floor, and Jameson stops.  Turning his body around to see Pappy in the floor, he crawls back, giving him a few slaps.

“P-p-p-op.”

“Nope, close though.  Pappy.”

“Pa-pa-pa-pa-pop,” Steve rolls his eyes, and Jameson still slaps on him.

“Do you ever get tired?” he shakes his head no, and takes off again.  Going to his toys to drag everything out.  Not playing with it, but just watching the toys clink to the ground.  “This is a long day.  Mama needs to have another one, so you won’t be so spoiled.”

“NO!” Jameson screeches, clenching his fist together.  “Nonononononononononono!” his little feet squish back and forth on the ground still repeating the sentiment over and over again.

“Fine.  Just be a wittle bit spoiled then.”

Emy walks through her childhood home.  Her mom abnormally calm, despite the mess in the floor.  But when she comes all the way into the living room to see Steve asleep with Jameson on top of him, chest to chest, and that goose’s wing laying on top of her baby, she gets it.

“He made a mess.”

“Dad or the baby?” Marta’s eyes never look away from her sleeping husband and grandson.  Remembering when all, but her James was that little  “Do you ever miss getting these moments with, bubbie?”

“Everyday,” Marta finally looks up at her daughter, and then back to her sleeping boys.  “I used to wish I was his biological mother.  Just the sweetest boy, but when I look at this boy, I feel I’m getting those moments.  Other than those huge dimples, he looks just like your brother.”

“I know,” Emy sighs, going to crawl in her mom’s lap.  “Just means he looks just like dad.  I’ll clean up his mess.”

“Don’t,” Marta taps on her daughter’s hip.  “I never thought I would miss the mess, until it wasn’t there.  You let that baby continue to be a baby.  And let your dad enjoy moments like this, too.  He said you didn’t want to leave.”

“I said, she struggled to leave,” Steve mumbles, but doesn’t open his eyes.  “If you two want to talk, leave me and Jameson be.”

Okay I’m gonna blab about my Jackie for a second because I fucking love him and his life.

Okay Jackie gets married and has kids. He absolutely adores his little superhero’s. He has three of them.

Roseari (his step-daughter),

Buchanan Charles (after his second favorite superhero and Chase)

Maria Jane (Maria after Marvin and Jane after Jameson)

And he fucking loves those kids. He loves his partner. And he would do just about anything for them.

He’s always super fucking careful on patrol cause now he has people who expect him to come home. He has people who need him. After all, how could he break his promise to come home? He doesn’t break pinky promises. Especially with his kids.

He gives these kids the best fucking childhood he can.
