I'm blessed to have been captured by so many artist, to have so many goofy selfies and fun photos from Disney, but this photo by @rharodigital was once that forced me to look at myself and see beauty. Like any girl I struggle with body image. I didn't grow up looking at 17 magazine wanting to be rail thin, I grew up looking at nose art and pin ups waiting for a voluptuous curvy body that never came. To this day I still debate getting breast implants to satisfy my personal desire to have a true hourglass figure. When I look at this photo though? I feel like I'm okay in my own skin. I don't need to be your source of entertainment, you don't need to laugh at everything I say. I can simply wear a silk dress and opera gloves and embrace some part of me that only comes out for special occasions. The only day I have felt more beautiful is the day of our wedding. Thank you to @amandaevansartistry and @rharodigital for making this photo possible, for letting me channel my inner glamour queen. You can head to James J. Hill House on historic Summit Avenue in St. Paul to learn about the Great Northern Railway baron and the Gilded Age in his historic 1891 mansion.

Or make your way to southwestern Minnesota back in time thousands of years to Jeffers Petroglyphs in Comfrey. You can explore thousands of carvings made by American Indian ancestors and learn about the history and ecology of the Minnesota prairie. 

If you’re looking to head north for the weekend, why not make a stop at Forest History Center in Grand Rapids? You can discover the world of a 1900s logging camp and learn about the environment of the northwoods.
