"On April 13th I will be having life changing surgery. This is a long time coming, and while my insurance is paying 100% of the medical costs, what isn't being covered are my travel expenses (mostly gas) and the lack of paycheck for the time I'll be in recovery - I do not have enough sick time to cover the time I'll be out, and though I do have temporary disability insurance through my job, it only kicks in two weeks after the surgery date. In addition, I have a couple of large tangentially related expenses coming up in the same time period: I need to get the tabs on my car (need those to drive the 70 miles to my check ups post surgery, up to 4 check ups), my last 'winter' electric bill is due ($250 bills suck), and I need to pay my quarterly internet bill ($145.00) - having them all come up at the same time would be a stretch even if I wasn't going to be out of work potentially up to 3 weeks (between my sick time and my short term disability insurance, I will be short approximately 13 days of work). Obviously, some of my wages would go to pay for the above expenses, so I'm not asking for everything to be covered, expenses and and bills, and my lost paychecks. I've budgeted out what would be needed to cover all of those above extra bills and a little bit of extra money in case of additional needs (like gasoline to make the trips to my check ups)." Those are the words of a great friend of mine. It's sad that I can't really help them, due to the fact that I don't even have a bank account and that Brazil is a little harsh against internet transactions, but I really wanted to help as much as I could. I'll be boosting this fundraiser on many sites I belong to, and hopefully some more people will be able to reach him. If you'd like to donate please visit the link below, and a huge thanks in advance! But if you're on a situation like mine or for any other motive that may not let you able to donate, please reblog this post! Boosts are very appreciated as well! The Unconscious Shelf?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sometimes, our mind needs to organise information that we obtain in order to make sense of it. We find things in research or when we experiment in the studio and I often want to try to put everything into the final outcome. And that can be a struggle.
So today we were introduced to the term, Unconscious shelf. My own way of understanding it, is that it is a mental reserve for the gems we pick up and we want to save for later.
