Her dress records the memories of her childhood, from roses in bloom to pigeons in flight, from tigers at the zoo to October leaves falling. A joyful celebration of a young girl’s childhood, written by the celebrated Jamaican poet James Berry OBE.✨ . I really enjoyed this story! at first I was a little worried because it’s based on a poem that it would be difficult to understand for children, but I don’t think that’s the case, especially if it’s read aloud and explained along the way. I loved the idea of Afiya’s dress representing her childhood. Each day she experiences something different, and it imprints on her dress. Then at the end of the day she washes her dress so she can start the next day with a clean slate to discover something new! I think that idea will really speak to the imagination of children. Who wouldn’t want a dress like that? 👗 . Anna Cunha’s warm illustrations perfectly complement the atmosphere of the poem. 🌅 The pastels and soft edges give the whole book the dreamy feel that matches with Afiya’s imagination. Sterilize 4 half-pint jars and their lids. Ladle hot jam into the jars leaving about 1/4 inch between the rim and lid. Remove any air bubbles and wipe the rims clean. Seal tightly with the lids. Process the jars in a boiling-water bath for 10 minutes. The sealed jars can be stored in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year. If a jar fails to seal, store the jam in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. #Newvember Still! The James Berries group was ordered one James Berry at a time. This is a reenactment of when I unboxed the one. Making something during this Newvember art sprint is automatically uploaded on completion so I don't hold on to my work files for too long, this has already helped me in trying to finalize whatever i have at a quicker pace. Birg’s Big Trip

A totally canon story about @jamesberri s OC

Birg was on his way to Baskin Robbins. He really wanted the funfetti ice cream he had been craving for so long. “Gee willickers, I hope it’s in stock, otherwise I wouldve walked 10 miles for nothing,” Birg thought. He finally saw the sign in the distance, and his pace quickened. He walked up slowly to the door and reached for the handle, but paused, because he saw his reflection in the glass door. “What if you end up not liking the funfetti ice cream Birg, then this journey would’ve been for nothing,” he thought to himself. It was unlike Birg to second guess himself, even as a kid he never looked back on his choices. He finally worked up the courage and ventured inside, and was met with a blast of cool air that washed over him like a veil of ice.

“Hi welcome to baskin robins,” said the girl at the counter, “what would you like today?” Birg walked up nervously, and peered into the glass case searching desperately for funfetti. “U-um, do you guys still sell the f-funfetti ice cream?” He asked nervously. “We sure do dude, it’s here at the end, so you want one scoop or two?”

“Uh, one, N-NO, two,” Birg said.

“Alrighty, two scoops of funfetti coming right up.”

Birg watched as she scooped the funfetti ice cream into a cup, his eyes fixated on every individual rainbow swirl that both scoops contained, each one almost like a firework that could only be contained by birthday cakes.

“Alright, that’ll be $2.50,” the clerk said. Birg reaches into his pocket and froze, he fished around and only found two dollars and forty nine cents. He handed it to the clerk in hopes she wouldn’t notice.

“Oh you’re a penny short, ay nbd fam I gotcha covered,” the clerk said.

A wave of relief fell over Birg, and he finally received his well deserved funfetti ice cream. He thanked the kind cashier and walked slowly over to the nearest table. Birg slowly raised a spoonful of funfetti ice cream towards his mouth. And finally, he bit down, an explosion of color overtook him, a huge amount of vanilla combined with the individual colored swirls washed over his tongue like a pallet of freshly squeezed paint. He couldn’t believe it, the funfetti was just as good as he’d thought it was. He finished his ice cream then went home and cried because he didn’t have money for more the end.

HOHOH I've been meaning to talk about Hoxi!!! Their name is also pronounced like "hoshi"!

She was an Astra Warrior, whose job was to protect planet Etolia from harm! Highly skilled in aeos (it's the in universe word for magic lmfao) and combat, she's also the one who helped Avaci and Etoile seal Dark Energy the first time. :]

She was famous on Etolia especially in the town she lived in due to her efforts! Long after she had passed, statues and other monuments were built of her!

Outside of being an Astra Warrior, she'd study astronomy and often pondered whether there was life outside the planet they lived on. When space travel was getting popular and there wasn't a need for the Astra Warriors, she found herself exploring distant stars in the galaxy they lived in (the Alta galaxy) and wrote down what she found in a series of journals.

Also she looks threatening af but she's literally the chillest knight ever, super friendly and super chill.
