Im bored and also working on a big post with some head canons about several characters with ref sheets, so im gonna make a birthday list real quick. I tried to keep a lot of this as canon as possible, but I have changed some ages and some birthdays aren't accurate because for some of these characters nothing would show up. Itll be going in order from January to December, 1st to the last day of the month.

What fandoms do you write for? Derry Girls. I once had a Zootopia fic on AO3 from a few years ago, but that was expunged with predjudice when I blew the dust off my account for my Derry Girls fics!

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Charming, To Travel, A Confederacy of Fathers, Ruminations for a Sleepless Night, Coming of Age

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I didn't use to, primarily because I'm quite a shy person, but I try to do it now (at least for the early part of a fic's lifespan if I'm otherwise busy in real life). I need to get better at responding to new ones left on older fics though

What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? "Tell me I was wrong"

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? "She" was literally written to have a happy ending, but I would personally say "A Confederacy of Fathers"

Do you get hate on fics? Not so far, and hopefully that continues

Do you write smut? If so what kind? No. The smuttiest thing I wrote was in the epilogue to "She", and that was just one or two paragraphs with several euphemisms.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve ever written? Niet! Not unless you count butchering Irish mythology

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not as far as I know

Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope

Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have a hard enough time writing by myself. I'll spitball and theorise with people about the plot, but the actual writing is all my own

What’s your all-time favorite ship? Jerin is my favourite, and I ship them hard and love to write them. I think my oldest one I can remember (and one I'm still slightly bitter that it never really left dock) was Ash and Misty from Pokemon. Honourable mentions to Lizzie x Gordo and T.J. x Spinelli too

What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? This depends on whether I can keep the writing impetus going or not, but "Mary Quinn's Cookery Book" has kind of reached a roadblock creatively. Hopefully I can get back to it once the current WIP is done, but we'll see.

What are your writing strengths? This question is highly anti-English, as we don't like to extoll our strengths! I like to think there's a flow to the stories I write, and that if there's little plot there's at least a good understanding of character. And I can weave in canon reasonably well

What are your writing weaknesses? I think know I can be florid - mainly in an effort not to continually repeat the same word, but it doesn't always feel natural. Also I can't plot for toffee; "She" notwithstanding, pretty much all of my fics are essentially single scenes, are un/strenuously connected scenes, or take place over a really short time period. Oh, and I seem to be having a love affair with the semicolon...

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I'm a monolinguist, unfortunately. One day I'd like to write in Irish (if Duolingo doesn't let me down), but for now it's good ol' Google Translate if I need another language.

First fandom you ever wrote for? Published? Lizzie Maguire, on fanfiction.net. Unpublished? Pokemon.

Favorite fic you’ve ever written? Probably "To Travel" - it's topical, exploring 2010s Northern Irish abortion rights in the wake of the 2022 Roe vs. Wade ruling, it was a challenge to write as person who the subject matter doesn't directly relate to, and it was fun to explore James and Erin on the cusp of getting together through the eyes of Anna.

fair question for aurore lol

i would think that aurore has never had any trouble falling asleep due to the curse. it hasn't yet taken effect, but it still lingers in her, waiting until the right time. there are trace influences of it that worry her parents; this is one such example.

she doesn't need anything, really, to help her fall asleep. that being said, she enjoys and is comforted by her thick heavy blankets and sheer bed canopy. it makes her feel protected and safe.

i've spent the last couple days listening to my liked songs on spotify and adding entire albums to x's playlist. it's honestly been a great way to understand them in a different way.

btw even though their canon is in the fantasy limbo era, this question is all assuming they're in modern times

aurore —

aurore mostly enjoys either light whimsical songs or bright pop songs.

her playlist, ironically, has some disney songs, especially i see the light, for the first time in forever, and love is an open door. there's also indila's mini world album in her playlist. her favourite artists include cosmo sheldrake, the oh hellos, taylor swift, abba, and louane — i'd love to put more french artists but i don't know a lot 😥

a song that i associate with her is once upon a dream, which should surprise absolutely no one. it's where i got this entire series idea, the soulmate trope for aurore and pippa, and it's a sleeping beauty song. there are two versions specifically that i listen to: lana del rey's cover and tchaikovsky's original sleeping beauty orchestra piece.

pippa —

i feel like pippa's favourite artists are hozier, brandi carlile, maren morris, and zaz. they love anything with a beautiful voice and lyrics — a homage to how prince phillip was immediately drawn by aurora's voice in the disney movie. their music taste is also in more grounded? songs than aurore likes? i.e. cosmo sheldrake's music is quite whimsical and aurore loves it but pippa prefers hozier's solid style. if that makes sense.

some songs on their playlist are any jeremy zucker and chelsea cutler collabs, hozier's in a week, and pentatonix's say something.

the song i associate with them is etta james' at last:

on a completely unrelated note, pippa totally read the ranger's apprentive over and over when they were younger. it's their comfort series well into new adulthood too.

erin —

erin's playlist has some softer/lighter music, like clairo and harry styles. lifehouse's entire no name face album is on there, too — both her taste and it's what her father listened to when she was younger. taylor swift's lover album is also on there because taylor has a flavour of music for everyone lol

a song i associate with her is i saw you in a dream by the japanese house — the version with the lowercase title — because i added it to my wip playlist immediately after hearing it for the first time. so i've always associated it with her, even if it doesn't completely match up anymore.

EDIT lol i forgot she canonically has a favourite song: woodland dance by radomir kafka. i wouldn't try to find it though; kafka is from one of vallera's neighboring countries and the song doesn't actually exist. though i imagine it with similar vibes to danse macabre or antonín dvořák's no. 2 dumka.

Thinking about how James sees Erin for exactly who she is and likes her anyway. This girl who has always tried to mold herself into someone 'worthy' of the cool, popular lads she likes - this goofy, uncoordinated, self-righteous girl full of chaos and fire and delusions of grandeur... a girl who is seen by her friend James, at her best and her worst, through times of joy and indignance and irritability - and she is loved. Loved by this boy who admits his feelings for her one day, but doesn't hesitate to tell her that she has no integrity the next. Him recognizing Erin at her lowest doesn't change the way he feels about her. There's no blindness there. No sugarcoating.

Just a very reasonable, very kind boy who knows her and keeps her in check when she goes off the rails. Who isn't afraid to tell her when her ideas are bad or she starts to lose her head. Who is her friend and supporter and literally her rock, her grounding force - in series 3 when she's feeling frightened or overwhelmed or sad, James is the first person she looks to for support; the person she physically reaches for when in need of comfort.

She does this because he is soft and grounding and he already SEES her, so she knows she can trust him to hold all of her.

My OTHER favorite stupid headcanon is that when James and Erin are in New York for work reasons, Erin ends up going into labor early and has to be rushed to the hospital there and the doctor who helps them deliver their child is none other than Dr. Jenny Joyce, who sees them, recognizes them and (possibly in revenge for having sex in her bed all those years ago or maybe she thinks she’s helping who knows) starts singing through Erin’s labor to relax her and Erin wants to commit murder and would if not for, y’know, having to push out her wain.

Summary: After the announcement of the new Doctor, I thought I'd write a fic set in 2004/05 when the new series was introduced.

March 20, 2004

James and Erin were newlyweds, having gotten married the September before (near enough to the same day they met). Erin had the day off from work and would be working on her novel, as James headed to his office.

He switched the TV on, as Erin put the bread in the toaster. When he suddenly let out a loud shout.

"What's the matter?" Erin exclaimed, hurrying into the living room, expecting the see James hurt. Only to find him happily jumping from foot to foot, his eyes never leaving the TV. "Love?"

It's only as Erin's hand rested on James' upper back, that his focus shifted to his wife and the love of his life. "They're bringing back Doctor Who!"

Erin had always known how much he loved the sci-fi tv show. having been introduced to it by his step-dad, and when he moved to Derry - he introduced Erin and her dad to it. By late 1997; Erin, James and Gerry would sit on the sofa (in said order) watching episodes James' had recorded - and a vast majority he had brought back from England after Christmas.

"Christopher Eccelston?" James questioned, his head tilting as the eyebrows he inherited from his mother crinkled.

"Wasn't he in that 28 Days Later?" Erin asked, her head tilting as well as her fingers running along James' hairline.

The pair were silent as they looked over the picture of the new doctor. "It is!" James smiled.

"Well, I'm glad you have Doctor Who back, love," Erin told him, pressing a kiss to his cheek and then went to attend to the toast which had just popped up out of the toaster.

So as mentioned in my previous post about this bingo, my birthday is next month. And for that occasion I wanted to host another bingo! Like my last bingo in October 2021, this one will have moodboards to the squares. Takeaways: I like my first lines. I still find they hook me into my own stories, which is great! I mostly go for a short, punchy first line. I like the scene-setting in each, admittedly more the recent ones. There's a few with senses of place (2,3,5), a few with a sense of movement (6,8,9), otherwise it's setting up relationships (1,5,6). More meh on the dialogues (4,8) but at least it drops the reader straight into the action - these are for my fics with the least serious tone. My favourite is still probably 7 though.

Not a lot of fandom diversity currently, clearly. I'm very deep into the SoC fandom, but trying a good few different pairings and genres within that. I have a few ideas for other fandoms, but I think I'll ride the SoC wave for a while there's enough else going on in life.

Maybe Someday by @areseebee - Ongoing series, explores the canon compliant future for Jerin where they get together later in life, while also addressing how two people who are best friends and have boatloads of intimacy and chemistry take so long to get together. It’s the best and I even made fanart of it it’s that good!

Making Moves by (kinda) Myself and (mostly) @areseebee - One of the newest fic about James and Erin practicing kissing with each other starting in Season 2 - this one is going to be a lot of fun, so I don’t even mind shameless self promotion for once!

Our Favourite Eejits by Warks1999 - Practically required reading, I can’t recommend anything without starting here, but I started with my friend first, because I’m biased as heck.

something about the way you look tonight (takes my breath away) by @missssblanche - I had this idea where James and Erin are chaotic and in love so they end up having their first time in Jenny Joyce’s room and get banned from her house for life and then it was immediately spun into gold, and I couldn’t be happier about it!
