let's talk about lily evans and the marauders, aka moony, wormtail, padfoot and prongs. given that i didn't use their actual names, i think you can figure out where this is going. it's also long as hell, so. canon vs fanon, marauder edition, except snek is sleep deprived.
now, before we begin, i don't dislike the marauders. or lily, tbh. if I'm being perfectly, genuinely honest, i still go back and forth sometimes but they've been growing on me for a while now. the canon versions, at least. fanon does them real dirty, and that's part of why i'm writing this, because i'm genuinely tired of it. it's an injustice.
you can at least make excuses for james and lily, who were so undeveloped that jkr practically dropped a fill-in-the-blank sheet of character information in our laps, but sirius, remus and peter were around long enough for y'all to get real acquainted with them.
in canon, sirius black is an unhinged mf. genuinely. this isn't to say he's a bad guy, in fact, we see that he's still capable of doing good things, still capable of love, still capable of all the things that prove he's actually not bad at heart, just,,, severely traumatised and very steeped in negativity from his time with the dementors. what i'm saying is that this man is absolutely, no questions asked, no holds barred demented, and how could he not be? the guy sat wrongfully imprisoned in azkaban for twelve years, a good portion of which he spent as a dog in order to protect himself from the dementors. he certainly wasn't completely insane, but you cannot tell me that he was all there. he got out of azkaban fuelled almost solely by the intent to get revenge on pettigrew, tried to commit murder in front of three witnesses who were also children—one of whom was his godson—ate rats and was also malnourished, which i'm certain did not help the situation any. this man is off his goddamn rocker, and you know what? you love to see it. good for him.
oh, but, snek, that's what he's like as an adult. what about when they were at school? before azkaban? my guy, the reaction he has to grimmauld place is not the reaction of someone without trauma. i don't believe that walburga and orion were the type to physically abuse their children, but whatever happened in that house helped to fuck him up enough that he skipped the joke of part of practical joke, and pranked snape by telling him how to meet a werewolf that he knew would be fully transformed and dangerous to humans. more than that, the werewolf was remus, whom he's friends with, and who—best case scenario—would be facing a trial if james hadn't stepped in. you can say that maybe he didn't think about or understand the gravitas of his actions, but at the end of it, that's not how properly sane people react to people they dislike, and that's not how they treat their friends. if anything, it reads like he was in the middle of a breakdown and absolutely losing his shit and he wasn't thinking at all.
my guy went through some serious shit, and was in no way completely mentally stable. we can see pretty clearly that he's got a serious dark side to him that probably would have gone unbridled had he not disagreed with his family, and yet, fanon took one look at him and went, "teehee, uwu bad boi go vroom."
fanon said padfoot is a pretty boy with nice hair who is tastefully traumatised from his horribly abusive household. sirius rides his motorcycle and plays jokes and flirts with anything that moves, but he can do no real wrong and always comes back to his soft, bookish, chocolate-loving boyfriend remus, who will laugh about his lycanthropy and quietly disapprove but secretly laugh at his friends' antics while hiding his smile in his cardigan.
respectfully, what in the absolute fuck.
i'd put that meme in here if i could, the one that's like, "well done, you've broken _______ down to its bare essentials," but no. i can't bc it doesn't even apply. this isn't a meme, it's theseus' fucking ship.
fanon broke it down, and replaced the pieces one by one until we got to this point, where we need to sit down and ask ourselves, "is this even the same character?"
the answer is no, by the way. it isn't. when people talk about woobifying characters—you know, taking away every flaw they have, romanticising everything they do and making them only capable of doing good, wonderful, lovely things?—this is what we mean.
and it'd be one thing if it was just the one character, but, no. fanon went all in and made them all squeaky clean and boring, especially peter, who draws the shortest of the straws.
remus got fucked, too. not just because fanon insists on sticking him into a relationship with sirius. which, we'll tackle wolfstar in a bit, but that's not even the worst of it. here, we have yet another example of blatant, rampant woobifying. again, is he a bad person? no. we know he's a good guy, we know he's generally kind and well-mannered, we know that he wants to fo the right thing but hey, fun fact. did you know that you can be nice and a coward? did you know that you can be benevolent and good and kindly and have the greatest of intentions and still be shady as fuck? no? ask dumbledore. the man played people like chess pieces when he needed to, and he was a twinkly grandpa. these are things that can coexist.
teenage remus is a coward who, understandably, does not stand up to his friends, likely for fear of being ostracised, and doesn't uphold his prefect duties as he should and takes part in their bullying of snape as a result. he lets them romp with him in werewolf form while they are in their animagus forms and then, he lets them continue to do so even after they have multiple close calls, which, again, had anything happened, would have resulted in a trial in the best case scenario.
grownup remus is still a coward, he tells no one that sirius can move about the school in his animagus form despite wholeheartedly believing that he's a mass murderer, he tries to run out on his wife and unborn kid. he isn't deliberately making attempts to harm anyone, but he's content to sit back and let things happen to him and around him so he doesn't rock the boat, although he is capable of action, which we see when he is more than willing to help sirius merk pettigrew in the shack. he can be careless, he runs out to the shack knowing he hasn't taken his wolfsbane and ends up transforming in front of the students he, as a teacher, is meant to be protecting. of course, this doesn't negate his good qualities, it just bears repeating that his flaws do exist, and they're pretty serious.
fanon moony is always pleasant and kind and soft-spoken and bookish, and he always has to have his chocolate. he knows when to tell off his friends, and he'll do it, even if he's secretly amused by everything they do and laughs about it with his best friend, lily evans, who coincidentally spends all her time with them so he and sirius can go on double dates with james and lily and no one has to remember peter exists.
why. theseus' ship 2.0. does the actual character still exist or is this something entirely different thing bearing the same name?
as for peter, who needs peter pettigrew, the actual, legitimate, fourth marauder when you have lily evans? canon pettigrew is opportunistic as fuck. he's latching himself to the biggest bad on the block and he's going all in. for teenage peter, that was james and sirius, and for adult peter, that's voldemort. canon peter is good enough at transfiguration to master the animagus transformation, just like his friends, and he's good enough at potions to brew the potion that gives voldemort a body. and honestly, you can't say he wasn't brave. he could've run off somewhere and died, or changed his identity or something after he faked his death and framed sirius, but, no. he goes and resurrects voldemort. that's fucked up, yeah, but it happened and honestly, i respect that it. he stuck to his guns.
fanon wormtail is lucky if he exists beyond being a spineless sycophant for james and sirius, or an evil conniving little rat who's looking to toss his entire friend group to the wolves at eleven.
of course, this isn't meant to negate his bad qualities, he still murdered people and framed sirius and sold out the potters to die, but his good characteristics do exist, and james, sirius and remus genuinely were his friends.
and now, we get to lily and james.
we have hardly any information on either of them. they're a pair of cardboard cutouts that we can paint and stick flyers to and colour outside the lines however we want. we can do whatever the fuck, as long lily is brave and smart and somewhat kind and james is brave and willing to die for his family. we were essentially handed a pair of ocs.
and yet.
what little bits of canon we have are thrown out of the window regardless.
james is privileged and rich, and he throws hexes for fun. he's willing to hex lily when she disagrees with him, and then, he goes behind her back to continue hexing snape after she believes that he's stopped doing so. and that's all we know about him until he dies for his family at twenty-one years old. once again, say it with me: this does not negate his good qualities. he definitely had them, he took sirius in when sirius ran away from home, he became an animagus to keep remus company as a wolf, and he saved snape in the shack, thereby saving remus and sirius by extension. him having flaws does not make him a bad person.
fanon prongs is a feminist. he fights for equal rights for women everywhere, and he constantly treats his girlfriend, lily, like an absolute queen. he's the hottest boy in school and everyone claps when he walks through the halls. mcgonagall and dumbledore are always patting him on the back and making jokes with him. he has a built-in dark detector that helps him sense when someone is a evil and needs to he punished.
give me a break. the dude's cool and all, but was the gary stu treatment necessary?
...oh, he needed to match fanon lily? right, right.
canon lily is a contradiction unto herself. she's supposedly a great friend, but since we see her at a point where they were already drifting apart, we see her putting little effort into keeping their friendship afloat. she victim blames based on rumours, she doesn't seem to care over much about what snape has to say about the people who have been tormenting him since day one. and she's justified, of course, she doesn't have to stick around. canon lily is a bit of hypocrite, she says that snape calls everyone of her birth mudblood, but then that begs the question why she still hangs around with him if that's the case. he calls her mudblood, she retaliates by calling him snivellus, and finishes up with a dig about his underwear, which, sure, it's kicking a man with a rusty spoon and pouring salt in the wound, but she's, again, justified. i get where she was coming from. and then, of course, she dies for her kid after marrying the guy who relentlessly bullied her quote-unquote best friend for their entire school careers. but, like i said, canon lily is, in many ways, a contradiction.
lily is basically a plot device. she pushes everyone's narrative but her own, and does little else.
of course, this trend would continue in fanon. fanon lily exists to be the perfect girl who gets really angry over the slightest injustice, and of course, she gets to be one half of one of the oldest enemies-to-lovers "it was just sexual tension" cliche pairings in the book. she's just,,, a mary sue. in so many fics, so many headcanons, she's just pettigrew's stand-in, a girl to form a gang with marlene, mary and dorcas—who happen to be more undeveloped ocs who also get the woobify mary sue treatment—to parallel the marauders. there is nothing compelling about her character when she's presented as a saint, and even less when she's supposedly the other moral compass for the marauders that doesn't actually work because she thinks that james is cute.
and this brings me to the next topic. jily. what, why, how. this was supposed to be a healthy, happy relationship that would have lasted in the long run? absolutely not. even for its time, i can't say that i see it lasting.
first of all, jkr presents james' crush on lily as just that: a crush. a mildly obsessive one, but a crush nonetheless, which she tries to liken to the pulling of pigtails. and then, we see that james' way of getting her to go out with him consists of blackmail, and when that doesn't work, he resorts to threatening her. this could have been set aside if he had actually, genuinely changed when they started spending more time together, but as we're told by sirius and remus, he didn't. he just got better at hiding what he was up to. and it has to be that he hid it, because if she knew, this further damages the character that she's set up to have and paints her out to be either unable to stand up to him or an enabler.
regardless, they get married. and while i have trouble believing that it was out of genuine love, there are scenarios that could make some semblance of sense. it's wartime, after all, and maybe lily is worried about her stability in the wizarding world, so why not marry into an established family whose son is already showing interest? or perhaps, she falls into the trap of every bad boy cliche ever, and she thinks to herself, well, i got him to be better then, maybe i can get him to do even better in the future. or maybe, she doesn't get into a relationship with him immediately and sees him on and off, until eventually, she accidentally gets pregnant and they scramble to have a shotgun wedding so as not to leave lily alone at nineteen with a baby. or maybe they marry each other because they're there and sure, neither of then is ready and they don't know what love even is but what else is there to do when there's a dark lord about? anyways, the point is, they get married.
and then what? if we count pottermore into canon, he goes on to further damage her relationship with petunia and vernon, to the point where she ends up crying. if we don't, she fades into the background enough that nobody has anything to say about her. she's harry's mum, she's james' wife, lily potter, she was kind and smart and brave and that's it. her agency is gone, anything else we have of her personality is gone.
jily just,,, wasn't built to last. and, yeah, this,,, this is a hill i'll die on.
same with wolfstar, honestly. there are so many reasons why it wouldn't work, but fanon has made it so fucking prevalent that it's literally everywhere no matter where you look.
first of all, i've said it before and i'll say it again. sirius is more likely to get with james that he is to ever end up in a relationship with remus. their chemistry is just,,, underdeveloped. net zero for a relationship.
secondly, sirius instigated the werewolf prank, and lupin would have paid the price for it. this could have been overlooked, but he doesn't seem the slightest bit guilty about any of it when it's brought up in poa. he could have been responsible for lupin losing the security of his place at hogwarts in the best case scenario, and in the worst case, his life. and he seems to look forward to full moons, even though they clearly aren't pleasant for remus, which,,, yeah, you're going to have fun, but like, maybe be concerned about the fact that your friend undergoes excruciating pain and it isn't a pleasant time for him? read the room, my g.
thirdly, they don't trust each other as much as fanon seems to think they do. they were both willing to believe each other the traitor before ever suspecting pettigrew. sirius thought remus gave away the potters, hell, he thought remus was a spy for voldemort, and remus was convinced that sirius was a mass murderer. neither of them needed to be convinced.
fourthly, maybe i'm reading too much into it, but like. sirius had money. remus had no money, since, yk, he was a werewolf and struggling for cash and still, sirius,,, did not leave him any money. i feel like if you had money to spare, you would give to your friend who is literally poor. but, again, maybe i'm reading too much into it and this isn't as valid a point as i think it is.
and ehh, the fifth reason is that it's,,, actually very much not the representation for the ltgbt community that fanon says it is but y'all aren't ready for that conversation.
anyways, just,,, even when you set the couple shit aside, the power dynamics between everyone here is fucked. like, james and sirius are clearly at the top of food chain calling the shots and egging each other on. then there's lily, who isn't even a marauder, but is always ever-so-slightly above remus but still not on their level, because, well. neither of them actually listen to her. remus is the novelty friend, the friend who's,,, alright, i guess, but you keep them around specifically because they're funny or they can dance or they have something that you can either show off to other people or keep as your little inside joke, your little secret, yk? and peter is just sort of there. like, yeah, he can do what we can but does that make him as good as we are? no. does he have a funny little something about him that we can exploit? nah. therefore he sits at the bottom. and like, yeah, james and sirius are on the same level, but james is yanking sirius' chain, not the other way around. anyways, like i said. power dynamic's fucked and it bothers me that we were given all of this, and fanon decided to take it all and throw it away so they could give us flamboyant!badboi!sirius black x softboi!motherhen!remus lupin going on double dates with feminist!trustfundbaby!james potter and saint!lily evans while ignoring peter pettiwho?
theseus' fucking ship, indeed.
anyways, this needed to be said. it might not make as much sense as i want it to, considering it's 4:12 in the morning as i'm posting this, after taking a break from writing to do some research and coming across way too much content about fanon marauders, but it's here and it still makes enough sense that you can read it and understand what i mean. and like, at the end of the day, you can go ahead and headcanon whatever you please, you can write fic and make art and do whatever you like, just,,, remember that they're exactly that. headcanons. stop presenting fanon as canon. please. i'm literally begging. we actually have evidence against it. just,,, acknowledge that they're headcanons and stop putting them forward as though they're able to fit into canon. please.
#harry potter#marauder fanon#canon vs fanon#lily evans#james potter#sirius black#remus lupin#peter pettigrew#the marauders#severus snape is mentioned a few times#but this isn't about him#i'm just#so sick of fanon#i need to like refilter my tags or smth bc istg i see more fanon marauder posts than i do anything else#anyways this is my take#and yeah it is 4:11 in the morning and i'm tired#i can't remember when i started this but yeah#point is i am so done#anti jily#anti wolfstar

What’s Happening To Me? — OneShot
Plot: James Potter was starting to feel more and more overprotective towards his friend Y/N and considerably annoyed at the blatant flirting she and one of his best friends were displaying publicly and at the thought she might be falling for Sirius. What was happening to him?
Pairing: James Potter x Fem!Reader.
Word Count: 5,9K.
A/N: I just had revised this long-ass story entirely and was pretty proud at the summary i came up with just for Tumblr to mess up with my post and erase its entire content, only leaving the title behind. Now i can’t remember the previous summary i wrote and am pissed about it. Anyways, I love writing for James and it shows. I won’t revise this again because i really am annoyed at tumblr so apologies in advance for any mistakes! :)
James tried to concentrate on Slughorn’s voice as the professor went on and on about whatever potion they were going to start working on during next week. He was really doing his best to absorb his words, but an extremely flirty pair beside him was making this task nearly impossible. He knew this was just for show since Sirius wanted to make Marlene jealous and Y/N kindly agreed to help him out, but all of this was still bothering him for some reason. Maybe it was because he knew Sirius way too well to know for sure he was enjoying this situation a little too much. Maybe it was because he cared about Y/N enough to bother if Sirius was going to end up hurting her somehow. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
“Merlin, would you two stop? It’s getting annoying,” he hissed at Y/N and Sirius, whom had been all giggly and touchy for the entire class.
“Does it bother you to see a happy couple in love, Prongs?” Sirius teased, barely suppressing a laugh.
“I’m just trying to pay attention to class,” he mumbled annoyed, his fists clenching slightly.
“Don’t be mean to him, Sirius!” Y/N bumped her fist on his arm. “He’s bitter because Lily is still turning him down despite his best efforts,” Y/N looked at James sympathetically as if saying she was sorry for him.
James sighed heavily at the mention of Lily’s name. Sure, it did annoy him that she was still rejecting his attempts of woo her, but, if he was being quite frank, it didn’t bother or frustrate him like it used to. If anything, it just... he didn’t even know anymore. Why he was still chasing her. Why he was still trying to get her to go out with him. It was seeming more and more pointless lately. He wasn’t sure if he was still pinning after her for a purpose or solely for the challenge.
“Earth to James!” Y/N waved her hand in front of James’ eyes. “You there?”
James tilted his head a little so his best friend’s face could enter his visual field. Her y/h/c hair was loose in a messy way that suited her perfectly, matching harmonically her hypnotic y/e/c eyes. She had a natural confidence that seemed to radiate from her body and wrap every single soul in the room. She was truly effortlessly magnetic. James started feeling flustered suddenly, unbeknownst to why.
“You alright there, mate?” Sirius asked with a brow lifted, staring at him.
“Never better, Pads!” James shot a cocky grin his way, brushing off the unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach.
James fell unusually quiet for the short rest of the class, his mind flickering between Y/N and Sirius and Lily. Everything just seemed so... out of place right now. He didn’t even notice Slughorn dismissing the class until Y/N tapped gently on his shoulder.
“Are you coming, Jamesy?” She asked, Sirius wrapping her against his chest. “Everyone else is already gone.”
“Sure...” James mumbled, still a little airy. His eyes wandered from Sirius’ tight grip around Y/N to her hand gently holding his wrist as her thumb caressed his skin lightly.
“Hurry up, Prongs! We can’t be late for lunch, I have a special surprise for my love here,” Sirius lifted Y/N’s chin gently whilst staring devilishly into her eyes.
James once again felt the same unsettling feeling he did before in the pit of his stomach when he noticed a subtle pink tone brushing through Y/N’s cheeks for a split second as she stared dumbfounded at Sirius.
“You two realize Marlene isn’t even here anymore to witness your annoying flirt, don’t you?” James asked his friends grumpily.
“Would you lighten up for Merlin’s sake, Prongs? Love is never annoying!” Sirius winked at him.
“Love might not be but you certainly are, darling,” Y/N retorted teasingly at Sirius, who took his free hand to his chest in mock offense.
“I usually grow on people, do you know that? Don’t you be so quick on biting the hand that feeds you,” he winged his brows at their amused female friend.
“You really are a complete prat, Sirius Black!” Y/N rolled her eyes with a large grin.
They were so invested on teasing each other that they had seemingly forget about James’ presence. The Gryffindor Quidditch captain spat an annoyed goodbye at his friends before storming off the classroom.
Y/N frowned and mentioned to follow James, but Sirius quickly grabbed her gently by the arm, stopping her from doing so.
“What are you doing? We have to go check on him! Haven’t you noticed how annoyed he left?” She lifted a brow at the grey-eyed boy.
“I did, indeed. But I also have noticed that he seems a little too annoyed at us lately, specially at me,” he narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
“Your point? He’s probably still frustrated at his last unsuccessful attempt of wooing Lily,” Y/N sighed.
“Oh, love, believe me, this has nothing to do with Lily. I know Prongs way too well, better than he knows himself, if I may add.”
“Are you implying he’s in love with you?” Y/N exploded in a loud laugh. “Of course it has to do with Lily. It always has something to do with Lily.”
Sirius narrowed his eyes whilst a mischievous grin took over his face. Y/N did a pretty good job in hiding her annoyance when she mentioned Lily’s name, but Sirius could read his y/h/c friend like an open book. He noticed it.
“What now?” She frowned at him.
“Nothing, love. Nothing at all. Come, let’s sit by the Black Lake, shall we? It’s too much of a beautiful day to spend it locked indoors,” he winked knowingly at his friend whilst taking her by the hand, another plan taking form inside his mind.
——————————————————————
“Where are Padfoot and Y/N?” Remus asked no one in particular as he glanced around the Gryffindor table at lunch time.
“Haven’t seen them since Potions this morning,” Peter shrugged uninterested.
“They’re probably snogging somewhere,” James said bitterly, his eyes glued on his food.
Remus lifted a brow at James whilst Peter blinked his eyes in confusion.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Remus asked him with a furrowed expression.
“There’s nothing to read into it. I just meant what I said,” James shrugged, a grimace on his features as he looked at Remus and Peter.
“But Prongs...” Peter whispered as quietly as he could without being incomprehensible. “We know this between them is just for show.”
“Do we? Please, Wormy. You know Padfoot. We all do,” James said calmly. “It’s just a matter of time until they cross the line, assuming they haven’t already.”
“What if they have? It’s not like it’s any of our business,” Remus narrowed his eyes thoughtfully at the messy-haired boy.
“But it is!” James exclaimed exasperatedly. “Y/N is also our friend, why do I seem like I’m the only one who cares about her wellbeing?! Padfoot is smitten with Marlene, you know that Moony. Y/N is the one who’ll end up getting hurt amidst this craziness.”
“Y/N is a smart girl, Prongs. She’s not naive. I highly doubt she or Padfoot himself will do something as stupid as that,” Remus shrugged before taking a piece of turkey to his mouth.
James bit his tongue and returned his gaze to his nearly untouched plate. He really hoped both Y/N and Sirius were smart enough to prevent what could only be described as a catastrophe, at least in his eyes. Just the thought of his best female friend being hurt by Sirius’ reckless actions made him feel like punching something. Or, more accurately, someone.
A loud sound of giggles snapped James out of his thoughts and drove him to wander his eyes to the big doors that separated the Great from the Entrance Hall. Holding hands, Y/N and Sirius were all smiles as they entered the room and approached their table.
“You almost missed the meal,” Peter scolded them with a motherly tone.
“Worry not, my dear Wormtail! We already ate,” Sirius winked at him.
“How’s that possible? You’ve just arrived,” Remus lifted a brow at Sirius.
“We raided the kitchen,” Y/N shrugged as she took a seat next to Remus.
Sirius plunk down by Y/N’s side and wrapped her in his arms guilelessly, playing with a lock of her hair. Nothing different than his usual behavior — since he and Y/N were pretty close friends themselves — but enough to drive James off the edge.
“You alright there, mate?” Sirius asked him for the second time that day, looking even more amused then he did firstly.
James blinked at the sudden attention as his other three best friends stared at him inquisitively. He only then realized how tense his body was and the tight grip he had around his fork. His knuckles were white due to how much pressure he was putting into it. The Gryffindor boy relaxed with a couple of deep breaths before letting his fork rest by the side of his plate.
“Hey, Prongs!” Peter whispered excitedly, breaking the awkward silence that fell upon the usually-very-talkative Marauders. “Fourth person on your left... look who’s staring at you!”
James gladly allowed his focus to shift from Y/N and Sirius as he looked to where Peter had told him. He lifted his brows in surprise as he’s met by Lily’s eyes, a small and shy smile forming on her face as their eyes locked. James returned her smile, waiting for the butterflies to flutter his stomach as they always did whenever he used to have some kind of interaction with the redhead. But they didn’t come at all. Not this time.
“What the bloody hell is happening to me?” He thought to himself as he forced himself to hold Lily’s stare for what seemed like forever.
“Looks like someone is finally wooing the girl of their dreams,” Remus teased after James broke off the eye contact.
“It was about time! I don’t think I could stand another year of this pitiful chase, it was getting quite embarrassing mate,” Sirius joked, earning amused laughs from both Peter and Remus.
“Would you three stop already?” Y/N rolled her eyes. “I’m happy for you, Jamesy. Don’t mind them,” she reached for his hand across the table and gave it a light squeeze. A sweet smile on her lips.
James felt his stomach leaping like crazy inside of him at her touch. He furrowed his brows at the unknown feeling, his hand lingering on hers a while too longer.
——————————————————————
“You’re staring,” Remus pointed out without taking his eyes off his book.
“I’m not!” James denied quickly. “I’m just thinking about what to write on my essay.”
“Is your essay stamped on Y/N’s and Sirius’ faces?” The boy with chocolate eyes teased.
“Don’t you think they’re spending way too much time together?” James asked as he stared at Y/N and Sirius laughing together in a distant corner inside the Common Room. Y/N’s cheeks were flustered due to how hard Sirius was making her laugh.
“Meaning?” Remus’ attention was now solely on James as he studied his friend with a quirked eyebrow.
“Meaning they’ve got other friends outside each other, you know?!” James sounded a lot more harsh than he ever planned to.
The sound of Y/N’s laugh echoed in the room once more. She sounded like a 4-year-old laughing, it was absolutely adorable and completely contagious. James couldn’t help a small smile to spread across his face. He then caught himself wishing he could make her laugh like that. His face fell suddenly as he wondered why this thought would ever cross his mind.
“If it bothers you so much why don’t you just talk to her about it?” Remus shrugged, his focus back on his book.
James reflected on his friend’s advise for a short while until his vision got red again as Sirius trailed his fingers across Y/N’s back whilst whispering something into her ear. James closed his book with a loud bang, startling Remus and other few students who sat close to them.
“Where the bloody are you going?” Remus asked as his friend got on his feet and started gathering his things.
“Somewhere I can actually study,” James mumbled before moving in the direction of the portrait hole.
James wandered aimlessly through the castle, both his mind and heart racing and pounding with questions and emotions. Was he losing his mind? He didn’t know what was happening to him, why or how it started and neither how to make it stop. Y/N didn’t seem nearly as bothered at Sirius’ blatant advances, so he shouldn’t be either, right?!
As James’ feet stopped suddenly on their own, his surroundings came into focus once again and he caught himself staring back at him in a bathroom mirror. He rested his books on top of the nearest sink and took his glasses off, throwing a quick splash of water in his face and leaning over so he could rest his hands on the basin marble.
“What’s happening to me?” He mumbled to his own reflexion.
——————————————————————
“Gather around, kids!” Slughorn said proudly in front of a cauldron as the students started arriving for the Potions class.
Y/N, James, Sirius, Remus and Peter approached the Professor and peeked curiously into the cauldron content. A mother-of-pearl sheen liquid with a spiraling steam lied inside of it. Y/N shifted uncomfortably on her feet as she instantly recognized what the potion with such an unusual shine was.
“Oh...” Sirius whispered not so quietly into her ear with an annoying teasing tone, wrapping his arm on her shoulders.
“Oh Indeed, Mr. Black,” Slughorn grinned amusedly at the raven-haired boy. “Perhaps Miss Y/L/N could tell us what this potion is?”
“Amortentia, Sir. The most powerful love potion in the world. It causes a powerful infatuation or obsession from the drinker. It is distinctive for its mother-of-pearl sheen, and steam rises from the potion in spirals. It’s also known by its smelling properties. Amortentia smells different to each person, according to what — or should I say who — attracts them,” Y/N promptly answered the Professor’s question.
The room was dead silent as everyone stared at the cauldron with great interest after Y/N’s words. Especially the girls, whom all eyed the liquid furtively.
“Very good, Miss L/N! Ten points to Gryffindor!” Slughorn rumbled satisfied.
“That was hot,” Sirius joked, winking at Y/N.
James clenched his teeth as he stared at Sirius, feeling increasingly annoyed at the ever so blatant flirt and not hearing Slughorn asking for a volunteer to smell the potion in front of the entire class.
“Oh, Mr. Potter!” Slughorn exclaimed, dragging his attention back to the class. “Come here now, don’t be shy,” the teacher motioned for him to approach the cauldron.
Looking around, James realized the entire class stepped back and he was standing considerably afar from them. Gulping, the always-so-brave-and-carefree Gryffindor boy slowly started to walk to the cauldron, feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders.
“Just go already, mate! We all know you’re gonna smell something Lily-related anyway!” Sirius shouted from behind him, earning laughs from almost the entire student body present at the class.
“I highly doubt he will,” Lily said out of the blue, making James stop suddenly on his feet and turn around to face her.
“What was that, love?” He quirked an eyebrow at her with a devilish smile. There was nothing that turned him on more than a challenge.
“I said you wouldn’t smell me. My bet is on something Quidditch-related. But I’ll tell you what, if you do smell anything that actually has something to do with me, I’ll let you take me out on a date,” Lily crossed her arms against her chest defiantly.
That was it, the moment James had been waiting for ever since he first laid his eyes on Lily. The moment he thought would be the happiest of his life. The moment that would leave him feeling over the moon of joy. But nothing of this happened. Sure, it felt satisfactory to finally achieve a long-term goal and finally convincing Lily, but that was it. Just it.
“Go on, Potter! We don’t have all day!” Someone among the Slytherin students shouted, clearly excited to see the outcome of the proposal.
James then walked to Slughorn and stood in front of the cauldron, facing his fellow Gryffindors and the Slytherin crowd.
“Now, Mr. Potter, close your eyes and take a deep breath,” Slughorn instructed as he stepped aside and left James and the cauldron all alone in the spotlight. “And then let us know what you smelled!”
James did exactly as Professor Slughorn had told him to. At first, nothing happened, and then, suddenly, a powerful wave of the most endearing and hypnotic smell enveloped him and raided all of his senses. The smell was an intoxicating mixture of patchouli, sandalwood and cranberry. His eyes widened open as he instantly recognized where he had already smelled this. It was her smell. Y/N’s signature smell.
James’ eyes searched the little crowd furiously until they landed on Y/N. She was inspecting her nails, weirdly quite interested. He wanted to shout so she could look at him. He wanted to lock eyes with her and tell her what he had just smelled. He wanted to run at her and sweep her off her feet, spin her around and tell her what had been in his heart unbeknownst to him this whole time. He now knew what was happening to him.
“Mr. Potter?” Slughorn’s voice alerted James that he and the entire class were waiting for his answer.
James nodded at the Professor and allowed his eyes to land on Y/N once again before finally answering him. However, what he witnessed made his stomach sink. Y/N was whispering something into Sirius’ ear and his left hand was clutched on her waist.
“So that’s why she wouldn’t look at me,” he thought bitterly at himself.
James’ eyes wandered to Lily, a sudden frustration invading him. The redhead looked at him expectantly, unlike Y/N, who was too immersed on Sirius to notice the longing looks he had been sending her way lately. Sighing, James made a stupid decision in the heat of the moment.
“I smell vanilla and lilies,” he announced to Slughorn, knowing very well Lily smelled like that.
When he turned around to face the class again, Y/N and Sirius were nowhere to be found. Lily on the other hand, was standing right where she was, blinking with a dumbfounded expression.
——————————————————————
“Please, Sirius, don’t make me go in there,” Y/N begged Sirius as they approached the Three Broomsticks. She knew exactly what she was going to witness once they went into the establishment.
“Come on now, Y/N! Marlene is going to be there with Alice, please?” He gave her his best puppy eyes as he implored.
“How long will we have to keep up with this?” She asked, pointing back and forth between the two of them.
“Until she admits she has the hots for me,” he winked at his best friend, who simply rolled her eyes at him.
When they entered the pub, their eyes instantly fell on the table where a certain couple was having their first date. Sirius squeezed Y/N’s hand as he noticed her gaze lingering on James’ back.
“Let’s get this over with, shall we?” She mumbled, pulling Sirius by the hand to a distant table where Remus, Peter, Alice and Marlene sat chatting happily.
“Finally! Where the two of you were?” Remus exclaimed as Y/N and Sirius approached them.
“We were a little... busy, Moony,” Sirius winked suggestively at his friends. “Seems like I’m simply irresistible to my sunshine here.”
Marlene rolled her eyes at them, clearly beyond annoyed at Y/N’s and Sirius’ presence.
“Y/N, tell me, how can you possibly tolerate him, darling?” Remus teased as he noticed Marlene’s annoyance and Sirius’ proud grin.
“I usually keep my lips on his for as long as I can so he can’t speak. That’s the key,” Y/N shrugged, getting into character.
Remus, Peter, Alice and even Marlene laughed at Sirius’ shocked expression at Y/N’s comeback. She forced herself to laugh as well even though she was feeling everything but joy right now.
Stealing a glance in James’ direction, their eyes locked for a while before he drove his attention back to Lily and Y/N felt the sudden need of fresh air.
“I have to use the loo. Be right back,” Y/N mumbled at her friends whilst getting up.
The chit-chat ceased quickly as three of the Marauders and the two girls observed the y/h/c girl shy away from them.
“So, how’s our plan going, babe?” Marlene asked excitedly to Sirius as soon as they couldn’t see Y/N anymore, linking her arm in his.
Before Sirius could say anything, Remus cut him off asking with a much shocked tone of voice: “What plan are you two talking about? Didn’t Marlene despised you like you told us when you’ve asked Y/N for help to make her jealous? Why is she calling you babe? What is going on here?”
“Hold your wolves, would ya Moony? We’ll explain everything,” Sirius grinned. “I did tell Y/N that but Marlene and I had already been sneaking around unbeknownst to general knowledge.”
“Was that supposed to enlighten me?” Remus quirked a brow at him.
“Let me explain, for Merlin’s sake!” Marlene lifted a hand in front of Sirius as he opened his mouth to start talking. “We were snogging in an empty classroom under James’ invisibility cloak this one time when he and Y/N suddenly sneaked in as they ran away from Filch-“
-
“Oh, Sirius,” Marlene mumbled pleasantly at the raven-haired boy who was brushing his lips against her neck teasingly.
“Do you like that?” He asked softly.
“Ye-Yeah,” she muttered in response amidst a heavy sigh.
The couple was suddenly startled as the classroom door clicked open and was quickly closed again with an explosion of giggles. They quickly parted as they stared confusedly at Y/N and James, whom were out of breath and leant against the dark and old rock-wall, hands clutched together.
“Merlin, did you see Filch’s face?” James asked with a laugh.
“I honestly thought he’d spit fire,” Y/N answered with a snore, her face completely flustered from all the running.
James stared at his friend in a comfort silent for quite some time, as if he was engraving her every feature in his mind. “Godric, you’re beautiful.”
Sirius gasped at his friend’s words. Marlene’s mouth fell open.
It was only when Y/N’s eyes widened that James realized he had said that out loud.
“I-I mean, you’re quite alright for a girl and everything, mate,” he added quickly, making even more of a fool out of himself.
“Yeah... thanks, mate,” Y/N answered with a furrowed expression. She was clearly embarrassed as well. “We should probably get going before Filch comes back. Where did you leave your bloody cloak anyway?”
“I’m not sure, I couldn’t find it anywhere. Sirius must’ve borrowed it,” he shrugged, opening the door and checking the outside surroundings for any sign of Filch. “Let’s go!” He grabbed Y/N by the hand and led her out of the classroom, closing the door behind them.
“Did he just say what I heard?” Sirius checked with Marlene just to make sure he wasn’t hallucinating as he tossed the invisibility cloak on the floor.
“He actually did,” she answered, a little shocked herself. “Not that it was surprising in any way, I mean, it‘s quite obvious he has it bad for her, I just didn’t think he’d ever notice, he pinning after Lily and everything,” Marlene shrugged.
“I don’t think he reckoned his feelings just yet, James can be a bit of a thick-head sometimes.”
“A bit? And just sometimes? The lad has been chasing after the same girl - who wants nothing to do with him if I may add - for almost six whole years. He definitely is a big time thick-head,” Marlene quirked a brow at Sirius.
“You’re right...” he mumbled thoughtfully. “We have to do something, they’ve got too much pride to ever admit their feelings for each other.”
Marlene shot him a grin as the perfect idea crossed her mind, “have you told anyone about us?”
“Not yet.”
“Good, here’s what we’re going to do...” Marlene started to explain him how he’d tell everyone she didn’t want anything to do with him and then ask for Y/N’s help to make her jealous in front of all of his friends. She made sure to let him know he was supposed to flirt hard with Y/N when James was around.
-
“Did you really have to make the beginning so... graphic?” Alice asked with a grimace once Marlene had told them the entire story.
“Agreed!” Remus quirked his brows at the secret couple. “But I have to say, this idea was quite... clever.”
“It really was,” Peter nodded excitedly. “Padfoot definitely stroke a nerve by flirting with Y/N in front of Prongs.”
“And so did Lily by pretending she was finally interested in him,” Marlene smiled proudly at herself.
“Wait... what?” Sirius looked utterly shocked as he asked her.
“Yeah, sorry about that, but I thought it’d look more... realistic if you didn’t know that. You care about Y/N, you wouldn’t bare seeing her hurt without letting her know the truth,” Marlene shrugged at her boyfriend.
“Woman... you are the love of my life,” Sirius grinned devilishly at her, taking her hand in his and kissing her knuckles.
-
“That prick...” James mumbled at himself as he clenched his fists at the sight of Sirius flirting and touching Marlene. Didn’t he have no respect for Y/N? He literally just waited until she turned her back to be a complete prat.
“What?” A bored Lily asked.
James realized he had been staring at their friends table basically ever since Y/N and Sirius first showed up, leaving Lily hanging. But, truth be told, the date sucked even before that. He and Lily had zero chemistry, zero common ground, zero... everything. They definitely didn’t belong together.
“Look Evans...” he started after a heavy sigh, looking for the right words.
“This date sucks,” Lily completed as she shrugged in relief. “I know.”
“Well, I’d probably be way more gentle than that, but... that’s what I was trying to say,” he laughed.
“You didn’t smell vanilla and lilies when you inhaled Amortentia, did you?” She quirked a brow at him.
“No...” he furrowed apologetically. “I smelled patchouli, sandalwood and cranberry. As in-“
“Y/N’s artisanal perfume,” she cut him off with a smirk. “Why did you lie you idiot?”
“In my defense, I was gonna tell the truth but then... I saw her and Sirius flirting and, well, you know what I did,” he shrugged.
“Your stupidness never fails to amaze me, Potter,” Lily rolled her eyes at the hazel-eyed boy. “Sirius would never get himself involved with a girl his best mate fancied.”
“Please, he could never know I fancy Y/N,” he furrowed his brows in disbelief. “I’ve only realized it myself a couple days ago.”
“Potter, you oblivious daft, everyone knows you have it bad for her for ages and the other way around,” she rolled her eyes at him once again.
“Are you saying-“
“That the entire school already realized you both long for each other? Yes. Now, let’s go,” Lily stood up and motioned with her head for him to follow her.
“Where are we going?” He asked confused.
“You are going to tell Y/N what Amortentia really smelled like to you and I am going to watch it alongside all of our friends and tease the two of you later,” she said as if it was obvious whilst they crossed the pub.
-
“He admitted his feelings towards Y/N out loud,” Lily announced amused as they approached their friends, taking Y/N’s vacant seat.
“Bloody finally!” Sirius and Remus shouted in unison as they both lifted their glasses in mock celebration.
“I have to say I thought I’d have to kiss her in front of you so your blind self would finally realize your own damn feelings,” Sirius grinned amused at James.
“Please, this is Prongs we’re talking about! He’d probably punch you in the face and still not have a clue as to why he was so angry at the whole situation,” Remus teased with a smirk.
“Sod off, would you?” James flashed his middle finger at them, his eyes scanning the entire place. “Where’s Y/N?”
“She said she was going to use the loo, let me go look for her,” Alice answered James with an excited smile.
James stood there full of hope whilst Alice went looking for Y/N, his heart pounding against his chest and his hands sweating as he thought about finally telling her how he felt.
Alice reappeared again a few minutes later, but there was no sign of Y/N as she walked back to their table.
“She wasn’t there,” she told James, a furrowed expression on her face.
“Where the bloody hell can she possibly be?” Sirius asked with a confused look.
“The castle...” James mumbled at himself before taking off hurriedly.
Marlene stood up as quickly as she could and mentioned to run after James.
“What are you doing?” Sirius asked with a scrunched face.
“Well, I’m definitely not gonna miss the pathetic scene of him finally confessing his feelings to our Y/N, will you?” She quirked an eyebrow.
The little crowd exchanged looks among them before getting up recklessly and take off on James’ trail.
——————————————————————
“How do I do that? How do I tell her I have feelings for her after saying in front of the entire class I smelled lilies as I inhaled Amortentia?” James asked breathlessly as he stopped suddenly in front of the Fat Lady portrait, turning on his heels so he could face his friends.
“Preferable with your mouth, although I suppose you could use your hands as well, you know, to make it more... intimate,” Sirius suggested with a devilishly grin, winging his eyebrows.
“Merlin. I don’t even know what to say about... that,” Lily looked disgusted at Sirius, turning to James afterwards. “Just... do something meaningful for the both of you. Use something that the two of you have in common to make it special. I’m sure it’ll earn you extra points.”
“I’m with Evans on this one,” Remus shrugged. “Sorry, Padfoot.”
They kept throwing suggestions at him, but James wasn’t paying attention anymore. Lily’s words were hammering inside his head as he was thinking about what to do. And then, suddenly, as if it was magic, a brilliant idea popped inside his mind.
“Fat Lady, has Y/N came in already?” James asked the portrait that guarded the entrance to the Gryffindor tower.
“Yes, Potter, she came in a while ago in fact. She didn’t have the best of looks on her face if I may add, I’m assuming she went straight upstairs to her dormitory,” the portrait answered promptly, gladly giving away the juicy details in hopes to gossip a little bit.
“Perfect!” James grinned at the painting. “Thanks, love!” He shouted before running through the hallway.
“Should we follow him?” Peter asked Remus and Sirius.
“What if he comes back?” Sirius shrugged.
“I don’t think he will,” Lily smiled, realizing what he was about to do.
“Mind sharing the why?” Marlene quirked a brow at her.
“Think about it. What’s the one thing they both equally love fiercely?” Lily asked the little crowd with a grin. “Despite each other, of course.”
“Quidditch...” Remus answered slowly, realizing James’ intentions as well.
Before anyone could say anything, James came back and flew by them on his broom, a large grin on his face, “well? Are you lot coming or what?”
Taking off as fast as he could and with his friends on his trail, James flew around the hallways of the castle in the direction of the sloping lawns in the school grounds.
As James proceeded on his flying, he started to draw more and more curious students returning from the Hogsmeade trip, that way, by the time he had approached the exterior walls of the Gryffindor Tower, he had quite a crowd standing underneath him.
Touching the ground slightly, James gathered a few little pieces of rocks and hopped on his broom again, flying up until he reached the same level of the girls dorm’s window.
Before James could execute his plan, a loud shout from Minerva McGonagall startled him.
“James Potter, get off this broom immediately!”
Before James could answer and beg for her to let him do what he had come here to in the first place, the window cracked open. As his eyes shot in the direction of the sound, James spotted an utterly confused Y/N staring at him.
“James what the bloody hell are you doing?” She asked with a frown.
“Well, I was planning on throwing these rocks softly at your window until you opened them up, but I guess there’s no point in doing so now,” he shrugged, showing her the rocks he had clutched into his palm.
“And why would you do that?” She giggled at him, causing butterflies to flutter inside James’ stomach.
“Because I have something rather important to discuss with you, love,” he grinned.
“Why didn’t you just shout my name from the Common Room then, you mental?” She quirked her eyebrows.
“‘m afraid that wouldn’t be as nearly as romantic.”
“Romantic? What are you talking about?” She asked, a disrupted look on her face. “James, what’s going on here?”
“POTTER!” McGonagall shouted once again.
“Could you give a smitten boy a second to confess his feelings for Merlin’s sake, Minnie?” He shouted with a wink at the Professor.
“Well... I suppose I can,” she shrugged with a discreet side smirk. “And Potter?”
“Yes, Minnie?”
“Glad to see you finally build up the courage,” she smiled at the dumbfounded look the boy gave her.
Y/N was still staring at James in shock as he drove his attention back to her.
“So...” she said.
“I lied at the Potions class last week,” he said out of the blue, gliding trough the air.
“Meaning?”
“Meaning I didn’t smell lilies or vanilla when I inhaled Amortentia.”
“And what did you smell?” Y/N asked and James could notice she was holding her breath back.
“Home,” the messy-haired boy answered with a gentle smile, his hazel eyes lingering on Y/N’s. “And it smelled like patchouli, sandalwood and cranberries.”
Slowly realizing he was describing her scents, Y/N’s cheeks heated up furiously as she stared at the boy she has been fancying for so long, her eyes widened in shock.
“James is this one of your jokes? If it is, I swear to Godric-“
“No, love. I’d never joke about something like that. I’d never do something like that to you,” he smiled gently. “I’m in love with you, madly in love with you. I have been for years. I’m sorry it took me so long to realize that.”
“In that case, would you get off this broom already so I can kiss you?” Y/N said with a lovingly frown.
“Gladly!” James’ face lit up as he hurriedly closed the space between his broom and the window, hopping inside the girl’s dorm.
“You’re crazy, you know that?” Y/N shook her head with a smile.
“About you? Definitely!” James grabbed Y/N by her waist and crashed his lips into her, finally tasting what true happiness was like.

Flirt
For @artemis1orion Who requested Can I request a James Potter x reader where they’re kinda enemies since the reader was on slytherin. But whenever the reader gets a chance, she/they jokingly flirt with the marauders except james cuz she can’t actually flirt w ppl they actually like. Till like one day, James confronted the reader abt it cuz he also likes her?
James Potter x Reader
You wolf whistled from across the great hall, causing a plethora of heads to turn your way, including the boys whom attention you wanted. Your eyes met with Potter’s first and you grinned devilishly at him as he glared. The next boy you looked at was Remus, he was no fun though, he never flirted back with you, then Peter, sure flirting with him was a laugh, but not exactly what you were looking for at the moment. Finally, they landed on Black and you grinned wider, blowing a kiss across the room which he jokingly caught and tossed over his shoulder.
“What do you want Y/L/N?” He called out to you. Most students went back to their eating, but some kept their eyes on you, curious about the encounter.
“Nothing, you’re looking fit!” You yelled back, causing your friend next to you to groan in frustration.
“Y/N, leave it.” They demanded but you were just getting started. Black made a face before grinning, winking at you as he took a seat at the Gryffindor table with his mates. Potter simply continued to glare at you. Tosser. Cute tosser, your brain corrected, and hell, you couldn’t argue with that logic.
“You look pretty fit too, for a slimy snake!” You grinned cheekily at him wiggling your eyebrows suggestively.
“Come over here, Black, I’ll show you just how slimy I can be!” He laughed at that shaking his head and giving you a choice finger which you returned happily. You dropped it, letting the boys eat as you went back to your own meal.
“I don’t know why you do that.” Your friend muttered, “They’re Gryffndors, it’s gross.” You grinned and shrugged.
“It’s fun! And they’re cute, what harm can it do.” Your friend shook their head and went back to their meal, choosing to just ignore you, but that didn’t dampen your mood.
A few days later you were leaving potions and nearly bumped into Remus’s back when he suddenly stopped walking.
“As much as I’d like to bang you, I mean bang into you, I’d also love it if you kept walking.” You commented, Lupin looked over his shoulder at you and flushed before turning and shoving James through the classroom doorway.
“Go!” He demanded, Potter looked over his shoulder at Remus with a grin, and then past Remus at you and his smile immediately dropped, replacing it with a glare.
“Come on sweetcheeks,” You gave Remus a toothy grin, “Get that cute butt moving,” His blush only deepened, pleading with James with his eyes to get out of the bloody way. Potter moved and Remus jumped out of your way, you reached up and patted his cheek as you went.
“Such a sweetie you are, Third floor broom cupboard later, see you there.”
“No you won’t!” He managed to squeak out, but you merely laughed, sauntering off down the corridor.
“Want me to hex them?” You heard Potter ask, so you shot him a glare over your shoulder as you walked.
“I’d like to see you try!” James grumbled angrily to himself and Remus rolled his eyes.
“Come on mate, it’s not biggie. You know they’re just taking the piss.” Remus assured him, but James wasn’t pacified.
“They’re a bitch.” He stated, arms crossing over his chest, and Remus looked at him knowingly.
“Why don’t they ever flirt with you mate, they do it with everyone else.” Sirius asked, tossing an arm around his friends shoulder as they walked down the corridor in the opposite direction of you.
“I don’t know, but I’m glad they don’t.” He muttered and Sirius and Remus shared a look over their friend's heads, Sirius raising a single eyebrow.
“Petey,” You smiled sweetly at the boy, leaning on his desk as he sat next to James in potions, “Could I borrow a quill please?” You made puppy dog eyes at the boy and smiled sweetly, watching happily as he turned beat red.
“I don’t-” He cut himself off and you leaned further onto his desk, ignoring James’ glares. Peter searched through his bag before looking at you with wide eyes, not used to anyone openly flirting with him how you did.
“I don’t have an extra,” He admitted and you shrugged, plucking the one from his hands, twirling it between your fingers.
“I’ll just take this one then, love.” He went even redder and nodded his head vigorously.
“Okay!” He squeaked out.
“Y/N, give him back his quill.” Potter demanded, and you laughed.
“Nope.” You responded, popping your ‘p’. James stood up attempting to snatch the quill from your hand but you danced away from him with a wide smile.
“James it’s fine,” Peter tried to interrupt, but Potter was fed up. Finally, you had been trying to get him to this point for months now.
“Do something about it, Prongs,” You spat the nickname you often heard his friends using at him like it was a vile insult. He flushed, lurching at you, grabbing your wrist and holding it as he snatched the quill from your hands, handing it back to Peter.
“Now kindly,” He glared at you, “Piss off!” You laughed and rolled your eyes before turning to the table behind them where Remus and Sirius watched the exchange with amused expressions.
“Boys,” You winked at them, blowing a kiss.
“Y/N,” They replied.
“Go away!” Potter shouted, causing a few Gryffindors to snicker, but that didn’t bother you, so you went back to your own desk, sitting down and pulling out a quill to Potter’s horror. He wanted to rip your head off.
A few weeks later, you sat alone in the library working on an assignment for charms, head resting in one of your hands while the other one twirled your quill. You stared at your parchment, wondering if you concentrated hard enough if the essay would write itself. However, so far, you had little luck.
Suddenly someone plopped down in front of you and you glanced up, surprised to see James Potter sitting in the previously empty seat. You raised an eyebrow, looking around.
“Where are your goons?” You asked and he went from looking mildly uncomfortable to glaring at you.
“They’re not my goons.” You shrugged, looking back down at your parchment again, feeling your cheeks heating up slightly.
“Whatever you say,” You murmured, sticking the end of your quill into your mouth as you tried to concentrate. Potter didn’t move, so you looked up at him again, “Yes?” You asked, Potter looked as uncomfortable as you felt, shifting awkwardly in his chair, glancing around like he was worried someone might spot him talking to you.
“Do you like Sirius?” He asked suddenly and you scoffed, taking your head.
“No?”
“What about Remus?” You looked at him, blinking a few times before shaking your head. Where was he going with this?
“No,” James nodded his head, playing with his hands that were resting on the table.
“Peter?” He continued and you barked out a loud laugh, earning a glare from a few Ravenclaws sitting a few tables away. Potter shushed you and you flushed slightly, grinning as you shook your head.
“Definitely not.” You assured, rolling your eyes. “Why the interrogation?” You asked and he shrugged his shoulders looking away from you. When he finally looked back you were still staring at him and he flushed slightly, balling his fists up.
“So why do you flirt with them?” He asked, “And not-” He cut himself off, unclenching his fists and laying his hands flat on the table, “Why?” You considered the question with rosy cheeks.
“I dunno, Potter, it’s fun?” You offered as an answer but it came out as a question.
“It’s not fun to flirt with me?”
“Why do you care? You hate me.”
“I do not.” You looked at him funny.
“Coulda fooled me.” You stated and he looked down at his hands. You were quiet for a moment, waiting for him to get up and leave. But he didn’t. “Why do you care?” You repeated, James looked at you and shrugged his shoulders.
“I don’t.”
“Okay.”
“Okay,” He repeated.
“Fine.”
“Fine,” He was getting annoyed and you smirked slightly, causing him to let out a small laugh.
“You’re infuriating.” He decided and your smirk turned into a wide grin.
“Thanks, love.” The word fell out of your mouth before you could think better of it and you both blushed furiously.
“Do you like me?” He asked suddenly and you dropped your quill in shock.
“What?” James held your gaze but you could tell he wanted to look away.
“I said, do you like me?” He puffed his chest out slightly and ran a hand through his messy black curls. You looked at him, trying to decide if you wanted to lie or not.
“I don’t... not like you.” You offered. He nodded his head, tongue poking out to lick over his lips, and you watched the movement, afraid if you moved the moment would be broken and he would be gone.
“Right. Right. Well, I don’t, erm, not like you either.” He responded and you looked at him with wide eyes.
“Right.”
“Right.”
“So...”
“So?” He repeated, as you both sat there, cheeks red.
“What... What now?” You asked and James shrugged slightly, looking helpless. He ran his fingers through his hair again and you wanted to reach out and touch his soft curls.
“Do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me next weekend?” The question came out rushed and all at once. It took you a minute to process it, and for a moment he thought you weren’t going to answer before finally you nodded your head.
“Alright.” James’ face broke into a grin and he nodded his head, standing up from the table.
“Brilliant. I will see you then.”
“We have class together tomorrow.”
“Right,” He nodded, standing in front of you, “Then I’ll see you then.” He waved and turned to walk away before stopping and coming back to you, you raised an eyebrow when he pointed a finger at you, eyes shining slightly in a way he had never looked at you before. “Stop flirting with my mates.” He stated and you smirked, laughing.
“Alright, deal.”
“Good, see you tomorrow, Y/N.”
“See ya James.”

Chapter Twelve - A Knight’s Tale
The waiting was torture, though that first night had been the worst, you had fed your twins, Elena and Johnathan before putting them to bed. And, then you had crawled into your huge cold, empty bed with your heart hurting as your tears soaked your silken pillows. You couldn’t lose him, you couldn’t lose Sirius. He was the love of your life and you had never dared to hope that you would meet someone like him or be so deeply in love.
Sirius was a hero – James was going to knight him if he ever woke up – and it would be cruel indeed if God decided to take him away from you. It seemed like God showed you mercy, because the following day, Sophia woke you to tell you that Sirius was still hanging on, he was still alive. He wasn’t doing any better but thankfully his condition hadn’t got any worse. For two weeks, you spent most of the morning with him, Lily would have granted you more time but you knew that Sirius wouldn’t want you to give up your duties for him. Working kept your mind off things.
Every time you went to see him, you brought the twins with you and you tried to make the small dark room brighter with the fresh flowers that you placed on the windowsill every couple of days. Through your tears you smiled down at the handsome man that was the subject of all your deepest dreams and fantasies. Even when he was so close to death he was still so devastatingly beautiful, like a fallen angel or a hero from those silly romance novels that you liked to read.
Gently, you pushed his raven black hair from his forehead, leaning down to press your lips against his forehead. His skin was as cold as ice but you knew that the doctor did his best to keep Sirius warm.
“I have to go, my love, I can’t shirk my duties,” you let out a little watery laugh as you swallowed down the lump in your throat, “I love you so much and I’m living for the day when you’ll wake, I would do anything Sirius, please just come back to us,” you pressed your warm lips to his cold ones, they were almost blue, “I’ll be back tomorrow, darling, though it’ll be a bit later on, I’m going to help Sophia pack for France,” you stroked your fingers against his cheek as you stood up.
The doctor smiled at you but you could see the blatant sympathy in his eyes as you nestled Elena and Johnathan in your arms, “thank you so much for looking after him, I appreciate it with all my heart,” you paused as a tear slid down your cheek, “if he wakes do you think all will be well?”
“You don’t have to thank me, Duchess,” the kindly older man bowed his head as he pushed his spectacles up his nose, “I cannot be sure, there may be some temporary memory loss but he’s defied all the odds so far. Your husband is a fighter, My Lady.”
You laughed a little as you nodded in agreement, “he is indeed a fighter, he’s the strongest man that I know,” it was for that reason that you were hopeful that he’d wake up. You gave him one last loving, wistful look before looking back at the doctor, “good day to you, doctor.”
“Good day, Lady Y/N,” he bowed his head as you departed from the room and sucked in a deep breath.
Remus was outside, leaning against the wall, he stood up straight when he saw you, a smile lighting up his handsome scarred face as he glanced from you to the twins, “are you waiting to go in and see Sirius?”
Remus nodded as he ran a hand through his hair, his hazel eyes growing worried, “how is he?”
You shrugged as sadness shrouded your heart, “he’s no better but he’s no worse either,” you tried to muster a brave smile.
Remus bit his lip as he looked down at his feet, “is it true that Sophia is going to French court?” even though he was getting married this coming summer, you knew that he still loved Sophia.
You sighed sadly, they would have made a fantastic couple and you knew that they both lamented what they had lost, “maybe you should talk to her instead of me, Remus,” you softened the blow by pressing a kiss against his cheek. You offered him a soft smile before walking down the hallway.
The following day dawned with warm and sunny weather with a slight breeze. The weather was so fine that you had thrown open the doors that led to the balcony while you helped Sophia pack for France. It was a pleasant task as the chirping of birds and the sweet sound of laughing, playing children that travelled up from the grounds. You glanced at Sophia with a smile on your lips, stopping short when you saw that a shadow had fallen over her face as she unblinkingly stared at the contents of her luggage.
“Are you alright, Sophia?” you asked, placing your hand on her shoulder.
Sophia looked up at you as her face transformed with a pretty smile that reached her eyes, “I’m fine, this is exactly what I want, and I suppose that I’m just nervous.”
You smiled as you pulled your dear friend into a tight hug, “I’m going to miss you,” you would sorely miss her and you knew that she would take a piece of your heart with her. But, you also knew that she would be radiant at French court. Over Sophia’s shoulder, you saw Remus run into the room, panting and you pulled away from Sophia as you took in his delighted face.
“It’s Sirius,” he smiled and your heart felt very hopeful and heavy, “he’s awake and he’s asking for you.”
You gasped as you held a hand to your heart as the relief and happiness almost swept you off your feet. You felt giddy and lightheaded, you felt drunk. Tears sprang to your eyes, “I must get the twins,”
Sophia laughed and cupped your cheeks, “I’ll get them and follow you, go, Y/N!”
You didn’t need to be told twice as you hitched up your skirts and ran to Sirius as quickly as you could, your heart beating wildly in your chest. Sirius was sitting up in bed when you reached him, the colour hadn’t quite returned to his cheeks yet but he was still so beautiful.
A smile spread across his face as soon as he saw you, “Y/N!”
As gently as you could you threw your arms around him, not wanting to hurt him as you sobbed into his neck. Your heart burst with love as he tilted your face up so he could kiss you, his gentle thumbs wiping your tears away. You pulled back to look at your husband, “I’m so glad that you’re alive, I love you,” you clutched his linen shirt between your fingers, not wanting to let him go.
Sirius smiled as he kissed your forehead, “I love you too, my Princess, I always promised that I’d come back to you, the doctor thinks that I’ll make a full recovery, apparently I’ve defied all the odds,” he chuckled before biting his lip, “I’m so sorry that I put through so much anguish.”
You shook your head as you cupped his cheeks, pressing your forehead against his, “I’m just glad that you’re okay, it was torture without you. You’re a hero Sirius; you saved the King’s life.”
“God, you’re so beautiful,” his loving words made you giggle, already he was flirting with you, “I’ve missed that sweet sound,” he pressed a kiss to your lips and he smiled as he trailed his fingers down to your stomach, looking up at you with a frown when he realised that the swell of your stomach had reduced, “our child?” he whispered and you kissed him gently.
You turned to Sophia who was standing in the doorway, she grinned at you as you lifted the twins into your arms and thanked her, “our children came a month early, both completely healthy,” you laughed and turned back to Sirius, “meet Elena and Johnathan, I wanted to honour your squire, he was a hero,” you added.
“Johnathan would have liked that, he would have been bashful,” he smiled and gasped with joy as you placed the twins in his arms, “typical that we wait for one baby and we get two,” he laughed, his voice thick with tears as he held his children.
Your heart swelled with love as Sirius pressed tiny kisses on their little foreheads. Elena wrapped her whole tiny hand around one of his fingers as she gazed up at him with her father’s stormy grey eyes while Johnathan fussed a little. Sirius choked back a sob as he grinned down at his children, his face bright with love as he glanced up at you.
“I’m so sorry that I wasn’t here for you, I’m so proud of you,” he tilted his head so he could press a deep lingering kiss to your lips and you threaded your fingers through his hair, “they’re so beautiful, just like their mother,” he murmured against your lips.
“And, just like their father,” you added, stroking over his beautiful face.
You and Sirius grinned at each other as you held your family in your arms. For once the little room didn’t seem so dark. It was as bright as heaven.
---------------------------------------
Sirius blew out a nervous breath as he looked at himself in the golden looking glass. Much had happened and yet, he hardly looked any different, apart from the long scar above his ribs and the haunted look that his eyes now held. He winced as he looked down at the pink welt on his skin, it was an ugly scar but late at night, Y/N would run her fingers and then her lips across it. She told him that it was proof of his heroic actions, he didn’t believe her but he lived for those moments.
Sirius could see his beautiful wife reflection in the golden mirror as she smiled and put the twins down for their nap. He was so blessed to have not just one, but two beautiful children. Y/N looked up and met his eyes in the mirror, he smiled at her as her lips parted slightly as her eyes raked over the bare top half of his body, and it was enough to make him blush.
With a sultry gaze, she looked at him beneath her thick lashes and she sauntered into the room, wrapping her arms around him from behind. Her nails ran over his skin lightly, enough to make him shiver beneath her warm touch, “my God, you look so beautiful like this,” she purred into his ear.
Her hands came up to rest on his shoulders as she kissed the back of his neck as she held eye contact with him in the mirror. Sirius blushed and bit his lip at her words, thankful that she still wanted him, “I could just eat you up,” she nipped at the lobe of his ear teasingly.
Sirius chuckled as he turned his head so he could capture Y/N’s lips with his own, smiling into the kiss when she ran her hands down to his stomach as she snaked her tongue into his mouth. When she pulled away, she kissed the tip of his nose, “what are you thinking about, my love?”
Sirius sighed and shrugged “just nervous I guess, I wish everybody didn’t have to make such a big thing over this,” he truly felt like he didn’t deserve this.
Y/N smiled at him as she cupped his cheeks, looking at him with so much love in her eyes, “you’re a true hero Sirius, let it be recognised properly,” she pressed a lingering kiss against his lips, “now, let’s get you dressed.”
She leaned down momentarily and pressed feather light kisses against his scar, running the tip of her tongue over the ruined skin. Tears sprang to his eyes as he cupped her cheek, rubbing his thumb over her bottom lip. She smiled as she leaned into his touch and gazed up at him with sparkling, adoring eyes.
“I love you so much.”
Y/N grinned as she stood up and buttoned his shirt, smoothing her hands over it, “I love you too, sweetheart.”
All too soon, it was ready for them to leave, Y/N smiled at him comfortingly as they walked down the hallway, nerves swarming around in Sirius’ stomach. Even from outside the Throne Room, Sirius could hear the buzz and the chatter of the court, he knew that James would make a spectacle out of this. When they entered, the whole court turned and stared at him, the men looked at Sirius in jealousy while the women looked at Y/N in the same way. Y/N smiled and kissed his lips before going to stand with Sophia who had postponed her trip to France to come to the ceremony. There were sweet smelling ceremonial candles burning in every corner.
Swallowing back his nerves, Sirius walked towards where James was standing, the King’s face was mostly stoic but Sirius could see the glimmer of a smile beneath his mask. With his eyes fixed on James, Sirius knelt on one knee and the King began to address the court.
“This man is a hero,” James started as he pointed at Sirius, pride in his voice, “this man saved my life, he climbed over enemy lines to pull me to safety and almost gave up his own life in the process. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here and our beloved England would be at war, he saved me and so many more people.”
Sirius took his eyes away from James and concentrated on the red velvet carpet in front of him, as James placed the flat of his sword on his shoulder.
“Do you, Sirius Black, the Duke of Bedford promise to serve your liege lord in valour and faith? Do you promise to protect the weak and defenceless, live by honour and glory and respect the honour of women?”
Sirius cleared his throat to stop his voice from shaking, “I, Sirius Black, the Duke of Bedford solemnly swear to do this.”
Sirius could hear the smile in James’ voice as he moved the sword from his left shoulder to his right, “then it is my great honour to dub thee, Sir Sirius, Knight of England and Wales. Arise Sir.”
When Sirius got to his feet, James pulled him into a hug as the court cheered and applauded. Sirius chuckled as his best friend clapped him on the shoulder, “congratulations.”
“Thank you,” he smiled at James and Lily before turning to face the court, his eyes searching. He grinned when he found his wife among the crowd; her face was bright with a smile and tears streamed down her cheeks.
He strode towards her and kissed her passionately, Y/N giggled into the kiss as the court whistled at the display, “My Lady,” he whispered against her lips.
“My Knight,” she grinned up at him.

All Of the Stars - Chapter 1: Friends
I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!
Chapter 1: Friends
But then again, if we're not friends Someone else might love you too And then again, if we're not friends There'd be nothing I could do, and that's why Friends should sleep in other beds And friends should kiss me like you do And I know that there's a limit to everything But my friends won't love me like you do No, my friends won't love me like you do Oh, my friends will never love me like you do Ed Sheeran
**********************************************
"Remmy!"
Remus Lupin was barely able to turn around properly before he felt arms quickly wrapping around his neck. He smiled instantly and returned the hug, recognizing one of his best friends in the entire world.
"Hello Cassie" he said with a small chuckle wrapping his arms around the girl and kissing the top of her head. "How was your summer?"
"Ugh bloody boring" she said stepping back a little but he still had his hands on her waist. "I am so glad to be back" she said with a small smile. "How was yours?"
"A bit boring too" he admitted. "Nothing out of the ordinary."
"How were the- um" she started before looking around and lowering her voice. "You know?" she whispered. Remus smiled knowing what she was talking about.
"They weren't that bad Cass, honestly" he said knowing she always worried about the full moon.
"Sorry we couldn't come" she said getting a little nervous. "Father decided to have a stupid dinner with the Malfoys that night and-"
"It's alright Cassie, really" Remus said with a kind smile. The black-haired witch smiled apologetically back at him.
"I missed you Remmy" she said hugging him again.
"I missed you too" he whispered placing his head on top of her head until they were interrupted by her angry brother.
"CASSIOPEIA! How many times have I told you not to run out of my sight like that?"
"I wouldn't know Sirius. How many times have I asked you to NOT call me that?!" the girl said glaring at her twin brother. Remus tried not to laugh. He knew just how much Cassie hated her full name. Since first year she had warned every single person in school that she would hex them if they ever used it. The only ones who called her that were the teachers, sometimes. And, of course, her brother, just to get on her nerves.
"You left me with mother and Regulus, thank you very much! Mother made me carry your trunk!" Sirius complained. "Oh, hey Moony!" he said, spotting his friend.
Remus laughed at the sight of two of his best friends fighting like they always did.
"Hi Padfoot, I trust you had a good summer?" he asked, already knowing the answer.
"You don't even want to know, mate" he said hugging his friend.
It was a known fact that Cassie and Sirius didn't have the best home life, to put it in a nice way. They came from The Noble and most ancient House of Black, one of the largest, oldest, and wealthiest pure-blooded families in the wizarding world. However, unlike the rest of their family, they didn't care about the 'importance of blood purity' as their parents put it. Remus, on the other hand, was a half-blood. His father was a wizard but his mother was a muggle. Needless to say, Mr. and Mrs. Black didn't really approve of their friendship with him or Cassie's muggle-born friend, Lily Evans, for that matter.
"Sirius, Cassiopeia" the three friends turned around to face the third Black sibling. Regulus. Unlike his older brother and sister, he believed in everything their parents said, although he wasn't as drastic as they were. He didn't care for muggle-borns or half-bloods but he wasn't exactly mean to them. "I've been looking for you everywhere" he said slightly annoyed.
"Well, what a coincidence Regulus, because we've been avoiding you everywhere!" Sirius answered with a small smirk. Remus knew the two brothers never got along. Sirius always said Regulus needed to stand up to his parents as they did. But Cassie was very protective of both her brothers and she was always the peacemaker of the three.
"Siri" Cassie warned. Regulus simply rolled his eyes and continued.
"Mother told me to tell you that she hopes you two behave this year" he said without any emotion in his voice. "And she said that running like that is not lady-like Cassie" he added and Remus saw the girl rolling her eyes but she smiled at her little brother.
"Thanks, Reggie" she told him and he smiled back at her. In the long time Remus had met the Black siblings, he had only seen Regulus smile if it was towards his sister. "Do you have everything you need in your trunk?"
"Yes" he replied before picking up his trunk. "Lupin" he acknowledged the boy before he left them standing there and made his way to the train.
"Well, we should go and find a compartment too" Remus suggested.
"Yeah, here!" Sirius said tossing Cassie her trunk and she quickly grabbed one end as the heavy trunk landed on the floor almost bringing the girl with it in the process.
"Hey! I thought mother told you to be chivalrous!" she mocked him.
"Yes, and she told you to be a lady" he laughed before messing her hair and grabbing his trunk before he made his way to the Hogwarts Express.
"I can carry it for you" Remus offered kindly, seeing that the trunk was a bit too heavy for the girl, but Cassie shook her head.
"No, Remmy, don't be silly" she said smiling gratefully at him. "I can do it, I just wanted to tease Siri, but thanks" she said grabbing her trunk and they both made their way inside.
"Hey! Moony, Cassie! Over here!" they recognized the voice as soon as they stepped inside the train.
"James!" Cassie shouted excitedly as they made their way to the boy with black, messy hair and she hugged him.
"Hey, Prongs!" Remus greeted the boy at the door of the compartment where Sirius was already seated.
"Took you long enough" he said looking up at his friends. Cassie rolled her eyes and threw her trunk at him. "Oi!"
"That's what you get, you lazy bum!" she said sitting next to him.
"Things never change, do they?" James asked Remus as they sat across from the twins.
"Call me crazy, but I kind of missed it" Remus said laughing a little. "So, how was your summer?"
"It was alright" James said shrugging his shoulders. "I finally found a way to get Lily to go out with me!" he said excitedly.
"You're still on that?" Sirius asked laughing at his friend. "Mate, the girl's said 'no' at least 800 times. I think she means 'no'" he stated as Remus rolled his eyes and Cassie let out a small laugh.
"Honestly Jamie, you can't possibly think she's interested! You followed her around like a sick puppy all of last year" Cassie added. "The girl hates you!"
"Well that was before I thought of my genius plan!" he argued.
"Which is?" Remus asked.
"You!" James said pointing at Cassie.
"Me?" she asked, clearly confused.
"You're friends with Lily" he commented.
"So?"
"So, you can help me out!"
"It took you all summer to come up with that?" Sirius asked, making Remus laugh.
"Shut up! Come on Cassie, please?" he asked turning to the girl, once again. "I asked Remus last year to help me out since they were both prefects and did their rounds together-"
"Does that mean I am off the hook this year?" Remus asked him hopefully.
"No" James quickly said. "But Cassie shares a dorm with her. She can help me out even more. You can tell her how I am a nice a guy and how funny and how smart and charming-"
"And how modest" she said sarcastically and Remus smiled at her, but James ignored her as he kept on saying all his good qualities, including how he was an amazing Quidditch player.
"... So, what do you say?"
"No" the girl simply said.
"What?" James asked taken aback.
"I said no" the girl told him.
"But Cassie-"
"No" the girl repeated again.
"But... why not? I'm your best friend!" he said offended.
"Be that as it may" she said rolling her eyes a little. "Lily is one of my few, if not only, female friends, thanks to you two idiots flirting with every single girl, dating them and then, never talking to them again!" she said glaring at James and Sirius. "I am not going to jeopardize my friendship with Lily just because you can't take a hint, Potter!"
"But this is different! I love her!" James argued. The other three friends rolled their eyes once again when the door opened.
"Hey, guys!" Peter Pettigrew said walking in the compartment. "Hi Cassie" he said eyeing the girl sitting next to her brother.
"And that's my cue to leave" Cassie said standing up and walking out of the compartment.
"If you see Lily, be sure to mention my name!" James shouted getting up and out the door to see his friend walking down the hallway.
"Bite me!" she yelled, without even looking back at him. James laughed and went back to sit down. Sirius stood up and punched Peter in the arm when he didn't move.
"Ey! Stop ogling over my sister!" he said before sitting down again.
"I wasn't ogling!" the smaller boy argued sitting down next to him.
"Things really never change, do they?" Remus asked James this time.
"Nope" James replied laughing before all four boys started talking about their summer.
**********************************************
"Hello again, my friends" Cassie greeted the Marauders at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall, sitting between Remus and Sirius, across from Peter and James.
"Hey! You can't just sit like that! Why isn't my Lily Flower here with you?" James asked upset looking for the red-haired girl everywhere.
"She saw you here and ran away as fast and far as she could" Cassie replied and James glared at her sticking his tongue out. "Oh that's very mature, James" she said rolling her eyes and mimicking the boy.
"And that's real lady-like, Cassie" he mocked her. She was about to reply when she got interrupted.
"Good evening! And welcome to yet, another year at Hogwarts" the Headmaster's voice was heard in the entire room.
"Shh! Pay attention" Remus warned his friends while Professor Dumbledore gave his regular speech.
"Why? We know all this stuff anyways" Sirius complained. "We're in sixth year!"
"Well there are first years that need to listen to this" Remus replied in a serious tone.
"Look at them, all scared, lined up, waiting to be sorted" James said, smirking at all the first years.
"Don't be mean!" Cassie said hitting his arm. "Don't you remember what is like to be that nervous?" she said remembering how afraid she was in her first year.
She was called to the sorting hat right after her brother. When the hat yelled Gryffindor, she saw the terrified look in his eyes. But when she stepped up, she was more afraid to be placed in a house without her brother than to not be placed in Slytherin like the rest of her entire family. To her happiness, the hat also yelled Gryffindor.
"I don't ever get nervous, darling" James said winking at her and she let out a laugh.
"Keep it quiet!" Remus scolded them again just before they heard a loud growl. The four boys turned their heads to an embarrassed Cassie.
"Tell that to Cassie's stomach" Sirius said trying to contain his laugh. Cassie glared at her brother before Remus noticed the blush in her cheeks as she looked down.
"Didn't you eat something on the train?" he whispered concerned.
"Uh, no I um, didn't have time" she replied with a shy smile. Remus knew that wasn't entirely true but he let it pass.
"Here" he said taking out some chocolate from his pockets.
"Remmy-"
"Don't make me use your full name" he threatened before she had a chance to protest. Cassie glared a little at him before smiling. She knew that Remus loved chocolate even more than she did so the fact that she was giving some of it to her was a big deal.
"Thanks" she said taking it and eating it. She couldn't help but feel a fuzzy feeling in her stomach when he smiled back at her but she decided that it was just her hunger and ignored it.
"Hey! No fair!" Sirius complained, trying to take away her chocolate, but Cassie quickly snapped his hand away.
Finally, after the speech and the sorting, it was time for the feast to commence.
"About time! Merlin's beard, I'm starving!" Sirius said, filling his plate with everything in front of him as the rest did the same.
When he noticed his sister only filled half her plate, and she was just playing with her food, he frowned at her and passed some of his food to her plate. Cassie turned to face him but Sirius only gave her a look that was all she needed to turn back to her plate and start eating. Two of the other three Marauders witnessed the exchange between the twins but didn't say anything. The third one was oblivious to the whole thing.
Remus knew how they always came to this. Mrs. Black would always put Cassie down because of her conduct. Her eating habits were only one of the subjects she didn't approve of her daughter. She was always nagging her about not acting like a lady and not being more like her cousins, Bellatrix, Andromeda, and Narcissa. Remus had seen the three witches at some point when they attended Hogwarts. They were all older than them. Narcissa, the youngest one, was one year ahead of them. They were all known for their remarkable beauty. They were all in Slytherin, like the rest of the Black family. Their look was always flawless, always seemed perfect to the public eye. To say that every single guy in Slytherin was head over heels for at least one of the Black sisters was an understatement. Interestingly enough, Ted Tonks, a Hufflepuff, won the heart of the middle sister, Andromeda, causing the family to disown her for marrying a muggle-born.
Cassie, on the other hand, was, not only a Gryffindor, but she was more of a free spirit. Her long black hair, that almost reached her waist, was always a little messy. Whether it was in a messy bun, a messy ponytail, a messy braid or just let down. Her uniform tie was usually undone; her shirt would rarely be tucked inside her skirt and she would rarely wear makeup. The only times she would look 'acceptable' for her mother was whenever they had a fancy dinner to attend and her mother would make her act like that. And to top it all, she was a Quidditch player, the Seeker to be exact. According to her mother, no boy would want to go out with a tomboy like her. Mrs. Black was always telling Cassie how she should be more like her three cousins. How she wasn't as smart as them, or as pretty as them, or as thin as them, or as popular as them. And she would never find someone worthy of her that way.
Remus found it disgusting, really. How could she put her own daughter down like that? And even if Cassie never admitted it, Remus knew how much it hurt her. He and James knew about the matter because Sirius had told them all about it when they were in third year. If there was someone who hated Mrs. Black's attitude towards Cassie more than Remus, or even Cassie herself, it was Sirius. He had always been very protective of his sister. He would make sure to tell her that she was beautiful no matter what. Mostly because she was his twin, but still. Whenever they were home, Mrs. Black would serve the 'appropriate' amount of food on Cassie's plate, making the girl self-conscious in the process, so Sirius would always pass some of his food to her. He was always messing her hair and asking for her help on some subjects even if he was just as good as her. Remus hated seeing her like this. She was usually very outgoing and very confident, but three months stuck in that house and some of it had to sink in. So, Sirius, James, and him would always try to get her not to listen to Mrs. Black and just be the girl they all loved just as she was.
"Come on Cassie, Quidditch season is coming" James said, trying to cheer her up. "We need to get protein in you!" he said making her smile just slightly. She knew what they were doing and why they did it. She was so grateful to have amazing friends and loved them for it.
Remus sat there for a minute just looking at his friend as she kept her conversation with James about Quidditch. Little by little, he saw how quickly she forgot the matter and went back to her old self. Her dark grey eyes started to spark a little as they remembered how they won the Quidditch Cup the past year, thanks to her. Remus smiled at having his friend back. He chuckled a little when James said something that made her laugh and spit a little of her drink. In his opinion, Mrs. Black was insane. Cassie was just as pretty as her cousins, if not more. He had always wondered how come she didn't have a boyfriend. Boys were always chasing after her, Peter being one of them, but she never really seemed interested. Not, that he would notice or anything, but he still found it rather odd. Sirius was always taking advantage of his looks with the girls. He knew Cassie could get away with it as well, but in that aspect, she was the complete opposite of her brother. He was a bit thankful for that. He was very protective of the girl and never really liked any of the guys that had tried to have something with her. And he could feel this year would be a little more difficult since he saw that she got more beautiful over the summer.
Wait! What? Beautiful? Since when do I think Cassie is beautiful!? Sure, I mean the girl is attractive and all but that's it! Right? Still, he had never liked the idea of her being serious with another guy, but that's just because he was looking out for her... as a friend of course.
As if someone was reading his mind, at that moment Augustus McLaggen, another one of Cassie's big fans, approached the group. "Hello Cassie" he said smiling flirty at the girl. "Black, Potter, Lupin, Pettigrew" he nodded to the boys. Remus found himself glaring at the boy a bit and had to make himself stop.
"Hello, Augustus" Cassie said politely as the boys just nodded.
"Looking forward to this year's Quidditch Cup?" he asked, excitedly.
"You bet we are!" Sirius said, high-fiving James. "We're gonna win it again!"
"Yeah, we need new beaters, though, since Fabian and Gideon graduated last year" James said.
"Well, with the best Seeker in the entire school we will surely win, obviously" Augustus said winking at Cassie. Remus felt a tight knot in his stomach but thought maybe it was something he ate.
"Ow, thanks, Gus, but I can't take all the credit myself" she said mocking them. "I guess the Chasers and the Keeper also had something to do with it."
"Well, obviously" James said messing her hair a little. "Without me to score the points, the team would be doomed!"
"Hey! Do I need to remind you that I scored more points than you last year?" Sirius argued.
"Yeah, well, who was the one making sure the other team didn't score?" Augustus also intervened.
"Gentlemen, please" Cassie interrupted making them all look back at her. "I think we can all agree, that if I hadn't caught the Snitch, Ravenclaw would've had the Cup, so really, is all on me" she smiled happily.
"Careful Cassie, you're starting to sound like Padfoot over there" James teased her.
"I am not! I am way prettier than him, don't you think?" she said making eyes at James, who raised his eyebrows suggestively at her. Remus had to control his stomach again, apparently, and stop his mouth from saying 'obviously'.
"Hey!" Sirius complained as the other two laughed.
"I think I speak for all of the boys in our school when I say that you are" Augustus suddenly said. Remus suddenly noticed his fist was clenched for some reason. He took a deep breath and let it pass.
"Aw, thanks, Gus!" Cassie replied turning to face him again and smiling up at him.
"Oh please, we could make a survey around the school and I think I'd beat you, sis... girls and boys" Sirius mocked her.
"Getting a little full of ourselves, aren't we, Siri?"
"You'd have my vote" Peter suddenly said looking at Cassie and Sirius punched his arm. "Ouch!"
"Mine too" Augustus said winking at her again. "Well, guys it was nice seeing you, but I'm off" Augustus announced. "I'll see you around" he told them. "Always a pleasure" he added his eyes landing on Cassie again before walking away from the group as Remus glared a little more. He was about to say something but someone beat him to it.
"Well, with the best Seeker in the entire school we will still win, obviously" James mocked Augustus' voice once he was out of sight. "That guy is a bloody prick" he stated.
"What? I thought you liked Gus" Cassie said confused.
"I did until I saw the way he was looking at you" James said in a protective tone. Remus was relieved that he wasn't the one who had to say it, even if he was about to.
"James, I already have an annoying protective brother! I don't need another one!"
"Of course you do!" Sirius said. "You think I can fight all of the boys at school by myself? Cassie, I know I'm tough and all, but come on, sometimes I need Prongs and Moony to help me get them off your case!"
"What about me?" Peter protested with his mouth full of cake. Cassie eyed him with a disgusted face.
"You are the president of Cassie's stupid little Fan Club" Sirius said glaring at him. It was true; Peter had developed a crush on the witch since their fourth year. He blushed a little at the statement and decided it was better to just keep on eating.
"I don't have a Fan Club!" Cassie argued blushing just a little. James smirked widely at her.
"I think I speak for all of the boys in our school when I say that you do" he said mocking Augustus' voice again. "And is not that little!"
"Knock it off!" Cassie said hitting his arm while the other three boys laughed.
"Come on Cassie, you can't tell me that you haven't noticed several guys at school, well... um, fancying you" Remus said trying not to sound so upset about it.
"They do not" Cassie said blushing a little when she turned to Remus. "Not all of them" she muttered looking down but James heard her.
"Right, not all of them, is just Augustus, and Peter, Adrian, who's always taking your photograph-"
"He what-?"
"Fabian and Gideon used to have their eyes on you, that Ravenclaw guy, what's his name?"
"Bertram Aubrey!" Sirius said glaring at the Ravenclaw table.
"Right! Remember when we hexed him last year for lifting up your skirt with his wand?"
"His head grew twice its original size!" Peter said laughing, remembering the incident.
"It wasn't funny" Remus intervened. Although he had gotten furious for what Bertram had done, he didn't think what James and Sirius did was right.
"Oh, please, Moony! He's lucky that was the only thing we did" Sirius said upset while Cassie just tried to sink in her seat hoping they would stop soon.
"Who else? Let's see... There are guys in Hufflepuff like Davey Gudgeon, Dirk Cresswell-"
"That's enough, James" Cassie said getting upset.
"Ah! And there's Slytherin! Evan Rosier, Avery and Mulciber, Malfoy, Scabior... oh, this is fun!" James said laughing and looking at Remus who forced a laugh. Fun wasn't exactly the word he would use to describe all of the boys chasing after Cassie.
"Ugh! You are so irritating! And you wonder why Lily won't go out with you!"
"Well, to answer your question, is simply because Potter is an arrogant git who hasn't changed one bit" the five friends suddenly turned to see the red-haired Prefect standing behind James. James quickly composed himself and got up to greet the girl.
"My beautiful Lily" he said gleaming at the sight of the witch. "Wow, you got even more beautiful over the summer" he commented. To what do we owe the pleasure of you joining us? Have you finally fallen for my charms?"
"No" she said rolling her eyes. "I asked Cassie that if that day ever were to come she would immediately have me sent to St. Mungo's declared with insanity" she replied. "I came over to tell Remus that we have to guide the first years to the Common Room and you guys should be heading there too" she advised.
"Wow, not even a 'hello' Evans?" Sirius mocked her. "Didn't you miss us?"
"I missed your sister, Black" Lily offered, smiling at Cassie and Sirius pretended to be hurt.
"See? I already got three votes on my survey" Cassie said smirking at Sirius.
"I missed you too" James added making the girl glared at him again. "Would you guide me to the Common Room? I'm afraid I might get lost without your help" James said smirking as his friends all rolled their eyes.
"I think I'd be doing everyone a favor by letting you get lost" she said in a serious tone. "Remus, shall we go?"
"Uh, yeah, sure" he said standing up. "I'll see you guys later, please don't get into any trouble, at least for tonight" he begged.
"Can't make any promises, mate" Sirius said. "You know trouble can't seem to stay away from us" he said as James nodded.
"Yep, that's us... handsome and dangerous" he said winking at Lily, who made a disgusted face.
"Cassie" Remus pleaded, turning to his friend who wasn't as bad as the rest. She sighed, knowing she couldn't say no to him.
"Fine, we'll try" she said offering a smile.
"Cassie!" James and Sirius complained at the same time.
"Thanks" Remus said kissing her head, ignoring the two boys. "Bye guys!"
"Bye, Lily!" James yelled, but she simply ignored him. "I'm going to marry that girl" he said sitting back down next to Cassie.
"And the day that happens, I'll be named Head of the Slytherin House!" Sirius mocked him as they all laughed at his hopeless romantic friend before they all headed back to the Common Room.
**********************************************
"Hey, what are you still doing up?" Remus asked, coming down to the Common Room and finding one person sitting there, looking out the window.
"Well, I could ask you the same thing" Cassie said, smiling up at him. Remus walked over and sat next to her.
"I asked first" he said with a small smile. Cassie saw he was holding something on his hand but she couldn't see what it was.
"Couldn't sleep" she said shrugging her shoulders. "What time is it?"
"Almost 2:00 a.m." he said, getting chocolate out of his pockets and giving some of it to her.
"Did you put a charm on your pockets so that they'd always be filled with chocolate?" she asked, grabbing the piece and eating it. Remus laughed.
"No, I fill them myself" he answered.
"My knight in shining armor" she said playfully making Remus smile.
"Why couldn't you sleep?" he asked all of the sudden.
"I don't know" she said shrugging her shoulders, hoping he would let it go.
"Cassie" no such hope. Cassie sighed and turned to look back at the window.
She didn't want to tell him. She didn't want him to know the truth. She didn't want him to know that while James was naming every single guy in school that apparently fancied her, she was hoping for Remus' name to pop out. But it didn't. She wasn't quite sure why she had hoped for that, but she did. She didn't want him to know that she couldn't care less about every other guy in the school because, for the past year, she had developed feelings for the young werewolf. She wasn't quite sure what they were yet. She just knew that she loved spending time with him, he was her best friend and everything seemed happier when he was around. She also didn't like it when another girl made him laugh, or got too close to him during class.
"Is just um-" she started, seeing Remus' eyes looking intently at her. She couldn't do it. She couldn't admit what she was feeling to herself, let alone to the guy in front of her. "Uh, my mother had my skirts 'fixed' again" she said smiling sadly and looking down. It had happened before that her mother would make her skirts smaller so that she would have to fit into them. But ever since third year, Remus had helped her to charm them back to their original size.
Remus felt his heart clench. He hated when she was upset. Every time she was sad, he would make sure to make her laugh. He loved her laugh. But he couldn't say that. He couldn't let himself start to feel this way over Cassie. She was his best friend. She was a Black and Remus was... well, a monster. There is no way that she would ever see him as more than a friend. He wasn't even sure why she was his friend, but he was thankful. And he couldn't let her slip away. If that's the only way he could have her, he was glad. And he was determined to make her happy anytime he could.
"Cassie, look at me" Remus said in a very gentle tone. When the girl didn't look up, he placed his index finger under her chin and lifted her head so she was looking directly at him. "I don't care what your mother says, I don't care what your cousins look like and I don't care how many times do I have to say this, but I will repeat it until you believe me" he said in a serious tone. Cassie was looking at him a little confused. Remus was rarely this serious about something unless it was something very important. "You're beautiful."
Remus froze when he realized the words escaped his mouth before he could stop them. He felt his heart stop for a little while. He couldn't believe he had just said that. He just blurted it out. What is she going to think? Wait, why do I care about what she thinks? I'm just comforting her as a friend... there's nothing wrong with that... right? He felt himself calm down a little when he saw her grey eyes sparkle a little and a shy smile forming on her face.
"You think I'm beautiful?" she asked blushing just a little. No one, aside from Sirius, had told her that she was beautiful. And she was pretty sure he only said that because, well, they were twins. She knew James wasn't wrong about all the guys fancying her, and most of them tried asking her out, but they never called her beautiful.
Remus felt his cheeks burning a little, but there was no going back now. "I do" he simply said with a warm smile.
Cassie reached out to him and kissed him on the cheek before she wrapped her arms around his neck and he wrapped his arm around her waist. "Thank you, Remus" she whispered before she rested her head on his shoulder.
Remus smiled to himself, knowing what this had meant to her. He turned his head and kissed her forehead.
"You're welcome."
Cassie sat back down and turned to face him again. "So, what are you doing up?" she asked trying to get things back to normal and Remus took the hint.
"Oh, did you know that James' snores got worse over the summer?" he asked a little irritated and Cassie laughed.
"Worse? I didn't think they could get any worse!" she said, feeling sorry for the boy.
"I'm surprised you didn't hear him from your dorm" he told her. "So, I came down here to read and I saw you" he finished.
"Oh" she said with her smiling falling a little. "I can leave if you want" she said a little sad. She didn't really want to stop spending time with Remus.
"Don't be silly" Remus said grabbing what hi had on his other hand and showing it to her. "This is the book I brought" he said showing it to her and seeing a wide smile appearing on her face.
It was her favorite book. It was a book that had all of her favorite muggle Fairy Tales in it. Remus had shown her this book when they were in first year, on a night much like this. Remus couldn't sleep because his roommates were snoring and he came to find the small girl in the Common Room. She couldn't sleep because she was upset. Her parents had found out both her and her brother were placed in Gryffindor and they had sent out a Howler showing their disappointment.
"So, which one do you want to read tonight?"
"Peter Pan" the girl said without even thinking.
"Again?" he said letting out a little laugh.
"Is my favorite" she replied as she got comfortable and laid her head on Remus' shoulder like they always did. Both teenagers decided to ignore whatever fuzzy sensation they felt as she did so. "Along with Beauty and The Beast."
"Alright, Peter Pan it is" Remus said with a small laugh and opening the book to the page where the story began. As he stroked the girl's long black hair he began to read. "All children, except one, grow up..."

Welcome to Seattle (Ch. 2 of 5)
The next week went by smoothly. Remus had gotten into a familiar routine with his new job, and became more friendly with his colleagues who also wrote for the newspaper. He had always had a tough exoskeleton, but it didn’t take too long to become comfortable enough to let some of his walls down for a few select coworkers. In stark contrast to his friends from college, these coworkers did not press him for details about his dating-- or as James more bluntly put it, sex-- life. In any case, both were nonexistent.
*James changed the name of the chat to “Operation get Remus laid”*
James: Alright, here we go. Remus, are you ready to read some wisdom coming from yours truly?
*Remus removed James from the chat*
The truth was, Remus wasn’t opposed to getting back out there. The only drawback was that he didn’t know how to get back out there. His relationship with his ex had started organically, with little effort on Remus’s part. And being in a serious relationship for so long had saved him from having to learn how to flirt and casually date new people.
*Lily changed the name of the chat to “Help Remus get back out there, if he wants to”*
*Lily added James to the chat*
James: Alright Remus, you’ve had a chance to get all settled down in your new place, but now it is time to wake up and smell the coffee
Lily: What James means, Remus, is that we think you should maybe try to re-enter the dating scene. Only if you feel ready, of course.
Remus: is this an intervention?
Lily: no
James: yes
Dorcas: ooh are we voting? Marlene is driving so she can’t text but we both vote yes
James: Remus. My son. Fruit of my loins. You are a total catch. It is time for you to take your beautiful face out from behind those sad Jane Austen novels I know you’re rereading every night and get your freak on
Remus: I appreciate your investment in my sex life, I really do, but I think I’m doing fine.
Remus: also you’re not my dad. I’m older than you by five months
James: Oh really? Let’s play a game where you say True or False to each statement I make.
Remus: Fine. But only until my lunch break ends
James: Here’s the first one: My name is Remus Lupin
Remus: ...true
James: My favorite food is chocolate.
Remus: true
James: The most recent time I had sex was within the last 2 months
*Remus removed James from the chat*
Remus spent the rest of his lunch break walking through Pike Place Market. He loved the lively atmosphere of the place, and mentally mapped out the places he would like to spend more time in, in the future. No longer constrained by a vacation schedule, he can see as many shops and stores in Seattle as he would like.
He also sent pictures of the most interesting areas to the friend group via Snapchat. Having multiple avenues of communication proved to be very helpful for a group of people as prone to theatrics as they were. Any arguments or disagreements could stay in whatever platform they originated in, and if people were (temporarily) removed from that platform, they would still have access to another. This unspoken agreement allowed the group to plan James and Lily’s upcoming visit on Snapchat, while Remus kept up his faux-anger at James’s nosiness in the messages app. Remus knew he would tell them everything when he saw them in person, but being ambushed with the topic on a Tuesday while he was at work was not his preferred arena.
***
Saturday morning found the group reunited at a breakfast nook within the Market. Remus sat next to Lily in one booth, opposite Dorcas and Marlene, while James sat in a wooden chair on one end. Remus appreciated that his friends made sure their seating configuration didn’t highlight his own status as the fifth wheel.
After catching up on everyone’s lives, and many pointed glances directed at James from customers who evidently didn’t want to hear the piercing falsetto James used when reenacting conversations with Lily’s sister, the conversation found its way back to Remus’s dating life.
“Remus, you’re a catch and a half. It’s been a few months since your relationship ended, and it may be time to get back out there.” Lily started.
“It’s true,” Marlene added, nodding, “if I weren’t dating Dorcas I would be all over you and your wool cardigan. Almost makes me forget I’m a lesbian.” She laughed as she dodged a light flick from Dorcas.
“If you were a woman I’d totally sleep with you.” James said sincerely.
“Uh oh, misogynistic comment tax!” Dorcas swept in and took a piece of bacon from his plate before dividing it between Lily and herself. “For the vegetarian,” she made a half bow gesture from her seat as she presented Marlene with a liberated strawberry.
“Um, thank you for the votes of confidence, I think,” Remus began. “I appreciate it, I really do, well maybe not what James said, but I’ll admit defeat. I have been thinking about getting back into the dating scene.”
“A-ha!” James shouted, gesturing his final piece of bacon towards Remus. “The man is smelling the coffee. I can see it, he’s smelling it.”
“But,” Remus said softly, hoping that his reduced volume would subtly encourage James to be quieter as well, “I don’t really know how to meet people. I mean, we’re not in school anymore.”
“It isn’t easy, but you are in a much bigger city now,” Lily reasoned, “so theoretically your dating pool is much larger.”
“And there’s all kinds of designated queer spaces here!” James added. “You can go to gay bars and stuff, right?”
“I would pay to see Remus at a gay nightclub,” Marlene said, laughing.
“I would pay to see Remus awake past nine PM,” Dorcas said, “and not because you’re finishing a book.”
“Okay, okay, thanks everybody. I appreciate it.” Remus said flatly.
“Alright, let’s reel it in. Point is, you can meet people organically here, and we’ll support you.” Lily said. After she gave pointed looks around the table, the others nodded, although James was still smiling. “We can switch the topic now, but you better plan on keeping us updated on all your dating endeavors.”
James continued to smile mischievously, and added “And all of your casual sex endeavors. I need to know the exact starting date of your post-breakup hoe-phase. Get on the dating apps! You’d be a beast on there.”
“No.” Remus and Lily said in unison.
Lily continued, “I think you’ll have better luck meeting people organically. Dating apps can be creepy.”
When Dorcas finally changed the topic by prompting Marlene to tell the story of the cat she swore was taking the bus by itself last week, Remus sighed in relief.
***
A few days after James and Lily’s visit, Remus and Dorcas met for coffee before work. Once they had gotten their iced coffees, and in Remus’s case, a giant brownie (he hadn’t been to the Italian restaurant in a few days, so it was well-earned), Dorcas began a monologue that could hold its own against one of James’s.
"Alright. We love James and Lily. We love their beautiful, heterosexual, suburban lives. I am in awe of their enchanting, heterosexual love story, and how they met heterosexually and organically in their Communications class, and how it must have been meant to be when James was late to class and took the only available seat, next to our heterosexual princess.”
Remus laughed in silence, trying not to choke on a bite of brownie.
“Their heterosexual hearts are in the right place. Their heterosexual advice is kindly meant. And yet!” Dorcas announced, punctuating with one pointer finger, “you’re gay!”
Remus, having just finished swallowing the brownie and mistakenly taken a sip of coffee, struggled to not spit it out.
“Dating apps can be weird, of course, but it’s so much easier to meet other queer people there, and not worry as much about hoping the person you flirt with isn’t going to be offended by your existence.”
“Fair point,” Remus said, consciously not eating or drinking until Dorcas was finished.
“Until they open an LGBTQ+ bookstore coffee shop combo, which they totally should, and you would totally thrive in, you should get on Tinder."
Somehow Remus blushed at that, despite being a twenty-six year-old man who has dated before.
Dorcas called him on his blush, and laughed. “You are the most wholesome person I know, it’s too adorable. I won’t make you talk about it in public if it’s embarrassing, but just consider it.”
Remus agreed to do so, but secretly considered the pros and cons of staying single forever. Making a dating profile sounded anxiety-inducing.
***
When Remus walked through the doors of the Italian restaurant for the third time, he instantly felt a little better, as if his brain was already beginning to associate the place with the healing effects of the pizza he would soon be eating.
He had been feeling a little down this afternoon, with his thoughts often gravitating back towards his ex. He considered reaching out to one of his friends, since he knew they would be more than happy to talk him through it, but decided that a little alone time would do him good. Besides, he hadn’t eaten margherita pizza in over a week. It was time to indulge.
Looking up from his booth, he was momentarily surprised to find Sirius standing right in front of him, ready to take his order. Sirius hadn’t been working during Remus’s most recent visit, and Remus tried not to stare at the wavy pieces of hair framing his face, the rest tied back in place. Realizing that Sirius had spoken, Remus tried to regain composure.
“Hi, um, sorry, what was that?” So much for composure, Remus thought.
Sirius smiled warmly, holding eye contact. “You’re good. I just asked what I can get started for you today.” He added a little gesture to the pen and notepad he was holding.
“Oh, um, one small margherita pizza, please. And some water would be great, too.”
“Coming right up!” Sirius announced, and turned towards the kitchen. Remus pointedly looked away from the view, reminding himself that he was here to feel sad, not lustful. But, then again, maybe the latter would help him get over the former. Either way, his spirits were already lifting.
When Sirius returned carrying a beautifully steaming pizza, Remus was ready to devour it. He was also ready to speak words to Sirius like a normal person, having mentally rehearsed “Thank you, this looks great.” a hundred times.
“Thanks, you look great!” Remus expressed, looking at Sirius. His blush immediately materialized. “Wait, oh god. Sorry–”
Sirius laughed, “No worries! People tell me ‘you too’ when I tell them to enjoy their food, like, at least once a shift. You’re in good company.”
Remus smiled and felt a little more relaxed. “Thanks.”
Sirius shuffled for a second, looking like he had more to say, before saying “Well, enjoy your pizza!”
“You too!” Remus said, in mock sincerity. They both laughed.
***
When Sirius brought the check, he also dropped off a piece of tiramisu. “It’s for you!” He said, smiling and already walking away, as Remus tried to protest.
Remus ate about forty percent of the cake, mentally focusing intensely on the next plot point in his novel. Eventually, the soggy texture overpowered his desire to appear grateful for the free dessert, and he left the restaurant quietly when Sirius stepped back into the kitchen, away from sight.

Scintilla - Remus Lupin x Reader
Request: could u do a fic along the lines of remus likes a girl and gets jealous because she’s flirty with sirius but she actually likes him? thanks!!!!! Warnings: My English. Language. Gifs aren’t mine. Credits to their original owners. So, December arrived and therefore… CHRISTMAS SPIRIT, everywhere!! Scintilla: (n). A tiny, brilliant flash or spark; a small thing; a barely visible trace. Word Count~2k+ MASTERLIST Pending Requests
She didn’t do it on purpose. She didn’t mean for it to happen. But it did. Remus felt his entire being so damn pulled towards her. It had started in such a subtle way that he could never imagine how difficult it would become for him to be in the same room with her. Especially when one of his friends was being rather flirty and touchy. However, that wasn’t even the worst part. She was flirting with him as well. Of course, she was. Sirius was everything he wasn’t. Somehow, every girl and some boys were all over him all the time. She was different, not like the girls Sirius was usually fooling around. She was smart, creative and kind. She was shy but she never shied away from anything or anyone when her friends and her ideas were been questioned. She was beautiful in a way that made him think of roses; breathtaking view with thorns. She was complicated and mysterious. He believed that she deserved better than just him. A person with a problem that consumed his life and mind. He would be an egotistical jerk if he acted on his feelings. Also, he was afraid of the inevitable rejection that was coming his way. And then, how would their friendship heal? It wouldn’t. That was why he just stood there, watching them flirt with each other, oblivious to her feelings. The common room was always a crowded place but it was literally packed this time of the day. He was trying to study but the noise was overwhelming. Students chatting, couples kissing, groups gossiping. Sirius flirting with her and her … It was always her. With her radiant smile and her curious eyes…she seemed to brighten up the entire room. No, wait. His entire life. Every time she would accidentally touch him or whenever her sugary scent would be lingering on… And those rare times she would be tracing patterns of non-existing shapes on his skin…he shivered just in thought. She was too… Out of his league. He didn’t want to burden her with his problem even though he knew her opinions and beliefs about similar issues. She was always so caring yet fierce and he didn’t want to make his problem hers. He tried to focus on his assignment but her smile and Sirius’ smirk were distracting him. He didn’t want to hear whatever Sirius was telling her and he didn’t want to think all the possible scenarios that played on in his mind. He had absolutely no right to feel the way he did. What was that feeling anyways? He didn’t hate them for being… Close… He did hate that they were close, though. ‘No, you don’t. You’re just jealous’ said the bitter voice in his mind. He never wanted to admitted and he wouldn’t. He wasn’t jealous. He wasn’t. “I promise to always be by your side. Or under you, or on top of you” Sirius remarked and she playfully smacked his arm but laughed nonetheless. Remus bit his lip to stop himself from exclaiming something that he knew he would regret. He simply closed his books with a thump and got up. Something that she noticed and her smile fell and he saw it. Whatever, he thought. He simply grabbed his things and without responding to the confused look James was giving him or to the hurt one that she had. Yeah, right. Like she would be hurt because he was about to leave. She had Sirius. With that in his mind, he climbed the stairs and closed the door behind him, making him the only one in that dorm. At least, he would suffer in silence.
“He hates me” you admitted to Sirius. You felt like the feelings you held for him were one-sided. Even worse. Not just that he didn’t like you back but judging by his entire demeanor towards you, he had to hate you. Lately, he was leaving the room you had just entered, he didn’t talk to you, looked at you or breathed the same air as you. “Nah. He is just jealous” James answered casually while he was watching Lily like a hawk. Sirius smiled triumphantly. You sighed in annoyance and disappointment. You were still in the common room but now it was just the four of you. Sirius was yawning, James and Lily were eye-fucking each other from across the room and you wanted to bang your head against a wall. “Bye guys!” James said in a hurry as he followed Lily when she winked at him. You waited till they were far enough and laughed. He was so predictable. And in love. Love. Shit. “Listen, by standing here and not approaching him… You will never know how he feels. I agree with Pr- James. I think he was jealous. I mean, look at me!”. He tried to give you advice but he was a cocky asshole and you never did take him seriously - what an irony! It was time to let him know that you knew about their little secret. “I am aware Padfoot, I am not stupid. It’s just that… He makes it so damn hard. He never even gives me a chance” you huffed. Sirius was startled at first but he came to his senses soon enough. “So… You know. Alright. Okay. Sure. Um… Just talk to him. Trust me on this one” he mumbled and stood up. You rolled your eyes but you gave it a thought. There was only one thing that was still keeping you from acting on your feelings. What happens if he didn’t like you? You couldn’t go back to being friends because if you did kiss him as you had caught yourself thinking about doing way too many times, it would mean that you had feelings for him and he would be aware of that. Shit. Shit. Shit. “Goodnight, sleep tight. Preferably with Remus” Sirius said rather loud, causing you to blush and shush him. His laughter was echoing through the stairs and the empty room. And you were left alone with thoughts of the guy you liked… Since forever. Shit. There was a word. Scintilla. It described exactly how you fell for him. Slowly, tentatively, without realizing it. Until one day, when you found yourself blushing when he gave you the same smile he was always giving you. Then you realized that it wasn’t just friendship you wanted. You felt… More.
He tossed and turned for hours before finally got up. Of course, he couldn’t sleep. She was constantly on his mind, torturing him. Some days it was bearable. He could talk to her like a friend. Some other days -and lately they were simply too many- he couldn’t even look at her without feeling his heart ready to jump out of his chest and rib cage. He couldn’t think clearly. He felt dizzy and lost in a haze. Why why why did she have to make him suffer during Christmas? Why couldn’t she like him? It was past midnight. It was Christmas, he thought bitterly. 'Merry Christmas to me’. He put on an oversized jumper and a pair of sweatpants and got out of the room, leaving his friends to sleep peacefully. He didn’t know that Sirius was smirking at the scene his friend would walk in to. Once Remus had set foot in the common room, everything became still. He noticed the bright red and warm fire burning in the fireplace and then he noticed her. She was breathtakingly beautiful. The air left his lungs. The dim light was dancing on her hair, illuminating her soft and delicate face. She felt ethereal to him. He had to channel all of his self-control in order not to just grabbed her and kiss her. She turned her face and looked at him with her big, tender eyes and he momentarily forgot how to make his heart beat. She smiled kindly as much as cruelly because that smile would never be his. He gulped and tried to escape. “Remy?”. Her small and tentative voice was like melted chocolate to his ears. Irresistible. He halted and reluctantly faced her. “Hey” he greeted her cautiously. He was captivated by her entire essence. She looked like an angel, he thought. She patted the space next to her. She was seated in front of the fireplace on the carpet with her legs exposed. Merlin, he was dizzy. Her oversized sweater had fallen off he done shoulder and it didn’t cover much. It wasn’t just her appearance that he liked. Not even close. But he was a human being after all. He slowly made his way to her and sat down but he couldn’t relax. Her gaze was suddenly upon him. Her eyes held so much honesty that it became overwhelming after a while for him but simultaneously, he couldn’t look away. “Remy, can I ask you something?” she softly questioned, not wanting to invade his privacy without consent. He didn’t trust his voice and just nodded. She was playing nervously with her ring - a small silver one that she always had- a sign that whatever it was that she wanted to ask was something that had been bothering her for a while. “Do you trust me?”. He did not expect that. At all. He furrowed his eyebrows, quite confused but replied anyway. “Of course”, that was the easy answer, at least. She smiled a bit sad and he tried to realize what was the thing that made her worry. “How come you’re constantly lying to me then, Remy?” she asked him with a hint of guilt. Did she believe that she had anything to do with that? When he didn’t answer due to the lack of proper words, she just shook her head. “You say you trust me yet you have never told me about your scars. Don’t worry, I am not as dense as you may think. I know. What I don’t know though is why would you think that I wouldn’t have stayed if you had told me. Am l that awful?” she was trying not to cry and not to slap him at the same time. But hey, she knew? And she was okay with it. He felt his mouth gone dry and his face fell. “I just didn’t want to burden you with silly problems” he said with caution. Truth was, he didn’t know how to make things better. And on top of that, he had to restrain himself from doing the one thing he truly wanted. “Remus” she reprimanded him fiercely. He was sure that his heart hadn’t beat that fast ever before. “One last question” she warned but she smiled playfully as if she knew his reaction to her. “Earlier, with Sirius… Were you jealous?”. Okay, he preferred his furry little problem better. That was something that he could never answer. Because yes, he was jealous. He was driven insane by his jealousy. He envied and hated all those who had the guts to approach her, to talk with her and flirt or even… He didn’t want to think what other things they were doing. He didn’t answer, he looked at the fire instead. She sighed and moved a bit closer. His nails were dug into his palm to keep him from reaching out to her. The next thing he knew was her soft and warm lips caressing the scar on his neck. His eyes went wide but as soon as her arms were wrapped around him and she was straddling him, he let go. He placed his hands on her waist, squeezing it a bit. Her lips found their way to his. It was slow but passionate, deep and addictive. She tasted of caramel and tea. He was so done for. She pulled away, making Remus whimper in lose of her lips but she just moved to his ear. “Merry Christmas, Moony” she whispered and even if her tone held nothing seductive, he just gripped her tightly and started nibbling her neck. “Very Merry, indeed” he murmured against her skin. He was a very lucky werewolf, he thought with a drunken smirk on his lips.

Chapter 1: Murder in the Great Hall
They were only an hour into their sixth year, and Peter had already almost murdered a girl. To be fair to him, he was actually trying to flirt with her; she’d probably have preferred a nice, quick death, if he’d given her the choice.
He had been talking to Sarah McLeavy, a pretty girl from the year below who seemed too nice to tell him to bugger off outright, and James was struggling so hard not to laugh audibly that the potatoes he was eating were attempting a surprise reappearance through his nose.
“Shut up, shut up,” Sirius hissed, elbowing him as Peter took out his wand. “Don’t ruin this for me. I want to see how it ends.”
“It- it’s going to-” James attempted a stage whisper and seemed to realise that the potatoes were impeding him. He swallowed them. “It’s going to end with her in the hospital wing.”
Sirius laughed, and then caught Remus’s eye and bit his lip. Their friend was watching the whole scene unfold with an expression of great suffering. Somehow, that only served to make it funnier.
“If you’ll just watch here,” Peter was saying, brandishing his wand like a weapon, “I can turn your green beans into flowers.”
“Don’t try to turn her green beans into flowers, Peter,” Remus said gently, and James snorted into the glass of pumpkin juice he had just been sipping.
Peter reddened, but ignored them. Sarah was half-distracted, answering a friend on her other side, trying to get back to eating her dinner. He narrowed his eyes, gave a little flourish of his wand, and muttered something the others couldn’t hear; the beans on her plate transformed instantly into daisies, and Sirius looked at James and shrugged with a smirk, proven wrong.
“Peter-” Remus said with alarm, and when he turned back Sirius immediately understood why; Sarah had a forkful of flowers in one hand and was turning an alarming shade of red, clutching at her throat with her free hand. “She’s choking,” Remus said, getting up and fumbling for his own wand inside his robes.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t - I didn’t-” Peter was just as red as she was, but seemed frozen in place, unable to think or move or be even the slightest bit helpful.
“Out of my way,” Sirius was already on his feet and shoved Peter aside, knocking him from the bench entirely. “Accio daisies!” A thick wad of white petals flew through the air towards him, and at the last moment he directed them to the floor with a flick of his wand. Sarah McLeavy collapsed forward onto the table gasping for air and her friends flocked to her, exclaiming and putting their arms around her protectively. One of them glared over her shoulder at Peter, and he turned towards his friends, crimson and mortified.
“All things considered, I think that probably ranks in your top five chat-up lines, Wormtail,” Sirius said seriously.
“Oh, God. Oh, Christ. Can we leave? I think I have to leave.”
“I think that’s probably for the best,” Remus said, his tone rather pained. They all got to their feet, James stuffing bread rolls into his pockets before giving Peter a friendly thump on the shoulder.
“Well, I’m proud of you, mate. And if you do want to ask her out, I think she’s just about breathing again now.” He gave Peter a thumbs up.
“Hear that, Pettigrew? Breathing, and everything!” Sirius could hear Remus apologising behind them as they walked away, no longer attempting to control their laughter.
*
Sirius was smoking; and of course, if Sirius was smoking then James wanted to smoke. They’d seen a muggleborn seventh year light up behind a tree at Hogsmeade station and immediately gone to haggle for cigarettes while Remus stared at his shoes and tried to ignore Peter, who was anxiously pulling at his sleeve and whispering about how much trouble they were all going to get into.
As they lit their cigarettes with little wisps of fire, transported upstairs from the common room in James’s cupped hands, Remus expected there to be some sort of protection that detected smoke - the ceiling infused with an aguamenti charm, perhaps - but nothing happened.
“Good to know that if we set fire to the drapes we’ll be on our own,” he said crossly.
“It’s so relaxing when you talk, Moony,” James said, leaning back against the windowsill with his eyes closed and exhaling a lungful of smoke. “It’s like a warm hug.” He coughed a little, then cleared his throat and took another drag.
Sirius wasn’t coughing. You’d think he’d smoked a thousand times in his life, the way he looked so casual doing it, the cigarette dangling from his fingers as he ran the other hand through his long hair and gazed out of the window.
“They’re terribly bad for you, cigarettes,” Peter piped up from where he was sitting on his bed on the other side of the room, reading a well-thumbed copy of Which Broomstick? from last year.
“Oh, good. There’s two of them,” Sirius said darkly, and James laughed. Remus did not laugh. They’d been at school an evening and he was already sick of being cast as the killjoy; the responsible one.
“Give me one of those,” he said, leaning forward and tapping Sirius lightly on the knee. He looked mildly surprised, but carefully extracted another from the breast pocket of his shirt and handed it to Remus, who studied it, suddenly realising that he had no idea what he was supposed to do with it next.
“You’re holding it the wrong way,” James said, and Remus quickly turned it around and put it to his lips.
“Come here,” Sirius said, leaning towards him and then pausing to tuck his hair behind his ears when it came dangerously close to being set alight. He leaned in closer and Remus froze, utterly confused by the gesture, until Sirius pressed the lit end of his cigarette to the tip of Remus’s own and took a deep breath in. Remus did the same, and the embers burned white-hot for a moment before the paper caught and Sirius pulled away. His heart racing from whatever was in the damned cigarette, Remus shuffled back to lean against the four-poster and tried to work out if he felt sick or exhilarated. It was a bit of both.
“You’ve got that look on your face,” Sirius said to James, who immediately frowned back at him.
“There’s no look,” he said, and Sirius laughed.
“What does that look say to you, Remus?”
Remus grinned. “Evans.”
“Kindly fuck off,” James said, reaching out with one leg to give Remus a half-hearted sort of kick.
“You know if you need tips, Wormtail’s really got a knack with the ladies,” Sirius said, and they heard Peter sigh dramatically and throw the magazine down onto the bed.
“I didn’t know it would transfigure the beans in her mouth - I didn’t know she had beans in her mouth-” “Tell it to the Wizengamot, Peter,” James said, laughing at his own joke until he started coughing again. Remus was letting his own cigarette burn down while avoiding smoking too much of it; Sirius was sucking his down like a starving Dementor going after a soul.
“She was looking at you during the feast,” Remus said to James, who smiled despite himself.
“Everybody was looking at us. Peter was quite openly attempting murder,” Sirius said dismissively, and James’s smile wavered.
“She definitely was. She was talking to Mary Macdonald, but she kept looking down the table at you.” The smile was back. Sirius had to have all of James, all the time; he couldn’t bear the idea that he might disappear off with Lily Evans and ruin their little twosome. Not that Remus thought that likely to happen any time soon; Lily may have been looking at James at dinner, but unless he’d been greatly mistaken she’d rolled her eyes on more than one occasion.
“Oh God, I’ve got Potions first thing,” Peter said miserably; Remus looked over to see him bent over his schedule.
“Great, now I’m thinking about Potions,” Sirius said irritably. Remus reached into his pocket for his own schedule and carefully unfolded it.
“Potions, Charms, free period and then Transfiguration,” he said, and Peter looked a little more hopeful.
“Same as me! And we’ll all be in Defence Against the Dark Arts together the day after next.”
“I have no idea how you can walk into Transfiguration with a straight face,” Sirius said.
“We’ve talked about this. They’re hardly going to give me a NEWT in Transfiguration even if I - I don’t know, transformed in front of them in the exam room. It’s involuntary.”
“Plus,” said James thoughtfully, “they wouldn’t be able to write down your marks once you’d bitten off their hands.”
“Damn it, I wish I could show them Padfoot,” Sirius said wistfully. “They’d be so impressed they’d probably hand us the keys to the castle.” “They’d be so impressed they’d send you to Azkaban,” Remus replied.
“Is there some sort of charm on that prefect badge that transforms the wearer into an utter prick, Lupin?” Sirius asked, but he was smiling; Remus bit back a smile in response. He was trying not to reward bad behaviour; Sirius was always chasing the reward.
“Are we going out tonight? I haven’t been keeping track,” James said, and Sirius looked at Remus.
“When’s full moon?”
“A week,” Remus said without missing a beat. “Next Wednesday.”
“Wednesday it is,” James said, as if there had ever been any choice in the matter. Remus shuddered without meaning to, already there in his mind, clawing at the walls of the shack; he saw Sirius glance over at him and looked down at his hands so he wouldn’t have to meet his eye.
“James, did you remember to pack the new Hobgoblins record?” Sirius asked quickly, and James immediately jumped to his feet to go and rummage in his trunk.
“Got it,” he said, holding it aloft in triumph. Sirius went to his own trunk and fetched a flask of questionably-procured firewhiskey, demanding that they all present their chipped tea mugs and pouring each of them a generous measure. Peter grumbled about it, but was loath to be left out entirely.
“To sixth year,” Sirius said, holding his obnoxiously scarlet mug up so they could all clink theirs against it and chorus “to sixth year!” in return.
“And to us,” James added, grinning around at them all. “May we make it to Christmas with the majority of our limbs intact.”

ORIGINAL NOTES: 779. MASTERLIST
You couldn’t remember your life without Remus. Since the very first day, you stepped onto that platform up until now.
You couldn’t seem to find an empty compartment, all of them were taken. You sighed and opened the door of the one next to you. Four boys were already there but it was the least crowded, so you hadn’t much of a choice. They were staring at you. Well, not all of them. “Can I sit here? Everywhere else is packed” you asked politely. They all nodded excitedly. Well, not all of them. “Of course” one of the black-haired boys said. You smiled warmly and took a seat. You could have never imagined that those four boys would be your family.
You had grown to love and care about those four boys, who were not boys anymore. They were men, as they would inform you after each time you acted all motherly. You were currently in their common room, studying- or at least trying. You may have been a Ravenclaw but you found yourself sleeping in their dorm. You were sitting on Remus’ lap- it wasn’t something new. All of them were trees and you were a bush. Sirius had offered many times to replace Remus but he was always saying it so… suggestively that you would slap his arm and move further away. Or that was what you were trying to convince yourself. With a book on your one hand and a quill on the other, you tried to write down a couple of notes but it felt almost impossible. You were too tired and it was too late. Remus laughed, taking notice on your poor attempts as he removed the book from your grasp and placed the quill down. “You need to rest” he told you kindly, smiling at you. Why is he so perfect? Wait. What? You reluctantly climbed off his lap and plopped beside him, resting your head on the crook of his neck. His scent was intoxicating; chocolate, ink, parchment and something spicy. He sighed, burying his face into your locks. He often did this; you knew that it wasn’t something to be considered awkward or odd but he did find comfort in the intimate action. In fact, it had become one of his getaways; you could blame the sugary scented shampoo. “Won’t you join me?” you playfully asked. Your breath fell hot on the sensitive skin of his neck, your voice sending shivers down his spine. But you didn’t know this. “Not in front of the kids, sweetheart” he teased you and the guys laughed. They always called you Mom and Dad. Even if you hadn’t admitted yet, you did feel that strange flip your stomach did when he called you sweetheart. Even if he didn’t mean it like that. Your heart squeezed in a strange way. You let your eyes roam his form. His broad shoulders, his toned torso, his messy hair, his eyes… Merlin his eyes. And his scars. Lord save the scars. They were so sexy… Wait. What? “Guys, I have to go to my room” you said after a while. It wasn’t that you wanted to leave. You really didn’t. But you had to rest, as Remus had pointed out. Annoyingly correct as always. “Why don’t you sleep with me?” Remus asked you without thinking. Your eyes widened and your heart stopped. Did he just say that? All of you were looking at him curiously. Sirius was smirking, James had raised his eyebrows, Peter had blushed and you… well, you tried to keep a straight face. He seemed to realize what he had suggested as his cheeks turned red. “I didn’t mean to offend you. I just meant we could, you know, share a bed” he said in a small voice. Your heart fell. And broke. Of course, he didn’t mean it like that. Why would he ever look at you? You forced a smile as you shook your head. “You didn’t offend me, Rem. I think it’s best if I just go. See you tomorrow guys” you stoically sad. He would never think of you as anything else but a friend. Why did that hurt so much? ‘Oh, I don’t know… Maybe because you’re in love with your best friend?’ you could practically hear your mind screaming. You ignored it as you made your way out of the portrait hole. Great. Just Great.
It wasn’t a big deal. Some stupid bloke had flirted with you and asked you out. You had declined, of course. Somehow Sirius found out and by somehow, you meant playing spy. It wasn’t something new. You knew that the guys were really protective over you. What you didn’t know was that Sirius had told a special somebody and that somebody felt a hint of jealousy even though he didn’t exactly understand it. Or why. But it was safe to say that the night that was to follow you would find out more than enough that kind of justified his jealousy. He had been avoiding you all day long, but since you were both Perfects it was inevitable to come face to face at some point. You were frustrated and a bit sad because you didn’t know why he was avoiding you. You thought that maybe you had said something to offend him or you had done something to irritate him. But as hard as you tried to think of something… it never came. It had been a long day. You hadn’t had a single moment for yourself. You had been studying, patrolling, attending classes, chatting with friends, helping first-years, saying no way too many times to that bloke. It was a long day. But you were glad it was over. You had just lowered yourself inside the perfects’ bathtub-or pool, as you liked to call it. That thing was huge. Unconsciously, you had chosen the sugary scented bath foam along with the chocolate one. You really didn’t do it on purpose. It was just relaxing you. You played with the bubbles a bit, the hot water relaxing your sore muscles and the sweet and oddly familiar scent bringing a new kind of tranquility to your mind. You dived your head under the water as you tried to stop thinking. It was then that you heard footsteps and immediately looked up, removing the foam from your face and hair. Remus. He looked bewildered, angry and… hot. “Um, I’ll just go” he said in a small voice. His eyes were trying to focus on anything but you. He blushed and turned to leave but he halted. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. Not that you didn’t want him there, because boyyy, you did. “Where is he?” he asked you, his voice hoarse. Your confusion only grew bigger. When he turned around his face was red but not in embarrassment. “Where is he?” he repeated a bit more demanding. “Who?” you simply questioned him. He was so hot when he was angry. Merlin, just take off your shirt, already. “That stupid brat you were flirting with today” he spat. Remus was never the one to use that kind of names on other people. Not even on Malfoy. And then it hit you. He was jealous. But in order to be jealous he had to…like you? Did he like you like that? “It’s none of your business who flirts with me but to answer your offending question… no one is here. Happy now?” you answered nonchalantly as you actually swam across the tub-pool making eye contact with him. He seemed to realize that he had just assumed that you were intimate with a stupid guy you didn’t really know and he felt stupid and… relieved? “Maybe I want it to be” he found himself admitting. You froze. Literally stopped moving and breathing. He lowered his head and turned to leave. You weren’t a Gryffindor but you had to be a bit more than just brave. You gulped hard and slowly raised from the water, revealing your naked body. He hadn’t noticed, up until you were already out and too close. He didn’t dare to turn and face your eyes and … everything else. You counted to three before you placed a hand on his shoulder, encouraging him to actually face you. And he did. Slowly. He tried to keep his eyes from roaming your body but he failed. Big time. A blush was already there. So, naturally what he did next came as a surprise. He pushed you towards the wall and pressed you against it. “I want you” he admitted but not shyly. There was a hunger that burned in his eyes. He had gone from a shy, quiet and smart boy to a hungry, bold and sexy man in a matter of seconds. The way he was looking at you made you weak and needy. He didn’t move, waiting for your answer. “Take me” you husked. He wasted no time. He pressed his lips against your neck and started sucking on your skin gently. His hands slide over your wet and naked chest, loving how smooth your skin felt under his fingertips. You were left breathless when he bit your soft spot as his kisses lowered on your neck, sucking your skin, marking you as his. You played with the hem of his blouse-you wanted off. But he hesitated, so you pulled away. “You don’t want this” you whispered softly. Your heart had fallen in the pit of your stomach. He shook his head and he ran his hands through his hair. “It’s not that. I just…” he trailed off. He hadn’t told you about his ‘condition’ but you weren’t stupid. He was concerned. You pulled him for a passionate kiss and you slowly moved to the edge of the tub. He tasted like chocolate. Of course. You took a deep breath and lowered your body in the water-it was still hot- not too much, just enough to tease him as your breast were going up and down with each breath you took. He kicked his shoes and trousers and sat down on the edge, legs in the water. So, he didn’t mind being naked in his lower body. This had to be about his scars. You trapped yourself between his legs and your hands lowered to the hem of the cloth and pulled it over his head. This time he didn’t move. But he didn’t breathe either. Your hands roamed his toned torso and caressed his scars tenderly. Honestly, you found his scars way too sexy. Like, they should be illegal. You felt his body relaxing underneath your touch. You looked him in the eyes and smiled shyly. “I know Remmy” you simply told him and he knew that you were aware of his problem. What surprised him was that you had stayed and well, not only stayed… “Beautiful” he whispered in your ear. His hand lowered in between your legs, and he slid his fingers up and down your folds. His fingers found your sensitive nub, and he drew circles around it, he added a little pressure directly to your clit and rubbed it slowly. He hadn’t broken the eye contact you held but you closed your eyes feeling his slender fingers working miracles under the water. A low moan escaped your lips as you rested your head on his chest while he was drawing shapes on your clit, making you want even more. He picked up the speed a little, rubbing you faster and making another moan escape your lips. You had melted under his hand and you wouldn’t be able to regain focus so you pulled away from his touch. You kissed him hungrily and trailed your mouth all the way down to his briefs. You pulled them down as he lifted his body lightly. Your hand moved up his thigh and you wrapped your fingers around his already erected cock, pumping him slowly. You felt him grow beneath your touch even more. You lowered your head and teased him with small kitten licks on the head, letting your tongue swirl around the top and all the way down to the base. His breath was erratic, trying his hardest not to buck his hips up. You sucked at the head, letting go to see pre-cum drizzle down his throbbing cock. “Please…” he breathed out and you finally wrapped your lips around him, sinking down as far as you could without choking. You used your hand to work the rest that you couldn’t fit while you start bobbing your head up and down. He moaned your name and you felt your heat dripping. You prompted him to step into the water as you pulled away. Remus brushed your hair out of your face, and you wrapped your arms around his neck as you lifted yourself up wrapping your legs around his waist and adjusting his member to your entrance. You slid down on his impressive length, groaning as you stretched around his size. His lips found yours and crashed together. He was biting your bottom lip so hard that he drew out blood but you returned the favor. Fighting for dominance, you let him win this once. Slowly, you started grinding your hips against his and he moaned as you moved around him. ‘Who is the dominant one now’ you thought. His hands moved to your hips as he set the pace increasing the friction and of course, the pleasure. He was hitting places you never even knew existed causing you to moan his name. He was thrusting into you harder and deeper, getting close to the edge from all of your actions. He gritted his teeth as he tried to make himself last longer, but your moans and the very fact that you were there, pushed him over the edge. You felt twitched inside of you and you felt his cum filling you up. He reached down and started rubbing your clit, helping you reach your high as he rode out his own. Your body tightened around him and you came with his name falling from your lips a couple of times. Your body throbbed as Remus pounded into you one last time. You slowly regulated your breaths as he pulled out of you, resting his head in the crook of your neck, intoxicated by your scent. “I guess I should have told you before… but, um, I am in love with you” he admitted sheepishly and you couldn’t help but chuckle. “Better late than ever, Rem” you softly said but it was muffled by his messy and wet hair as you had rested your head on top of his. He pulled away just a bit so he could look at your eyes. He was waiting for an answer. What an idiot. “I wouldn’t have sex with you if I wasn’t in love with you, Lupin” you playfully told him as you pulled him back, hugging him tightly. You couldn’t see that but he wasn’t just smiling. He was grinning like a mad man.

Be mine, angel - Sirius Black x Reader
Request: Hey sweetie I just read your last Sirius writing and I got the idea of him x reader where she is the most wanted girl in the school but suprisingly doesn't attend the yull ball and Sirius (bc he loves her) then goes to her room and find her crying?💞💞💞💞 Warnings: swearing? a bit? My English. Pic isn’t mine. Credits to its original owner.
It was a bit annoying. Not that you weren’t enjoying it, but after a while it just became tiring. You had to decline an invitation to a date almost three times a day. Some of them were really persistent; They would ask you out almost every day just to receive a forced smile and a no, no thank you. You were known to be the female version on the school’s heartbreaker, but not exactly. You didn’t sleep around with everyone. Actually, you have never said yes to anyone. And that’s because you only wanted one person. That heartbreaker. His name was a synonym for one-night-stand and other even less complemental things. You, however, never gave a single sign that you were interested. You liked your heart whole and not in pieces, thank you very much. You were about to join the conversation that was held among your friends-more like Lily being overdramatic about James, but you understood her very well-when someone, a cute Hufflepuff, walked right in front of you. “Hello” you greeted him. You knew where the whole thing would lead but being rude to someone was not your thing. Well, not always. If anyone, anyone at all was all over your friends for any reason, you were fierce, like a tiger protecting her babies. It was just your nature. “Hello Y/N” he addressed you kindly. He was really cute, handsome even. There was one problem though. He wasn’t him. It would be really selfish of you to date people like understudies because you couldn’t have the one you wanted. It wasn’t fair. “Would you like to go out on a date with me? Hogsmeade maybe?” he asked you with hope burning in his eyes. You took a deep breath. It wasn’t exactly easy to decline everyone. “You are sweet. Thank you, really. But I have to say no. Sorry” you said sweetly, with a sympathetic smile. You really didn’t mean to hurt his feelings. He smiled back at you, a bit sad. “It’s okay. See you” he waved you goodbye while he was walking away. You hmphed. You hadn’t noticed that the guys were standing right behind you, having witnessed the whole scene. Therefore, when you turned around, expecting to find Lily and Marlene, you slightly jumped in surprise. “Hello, boys” you cooed. You wouldn’t admit, really, but you tried to flirt with him in a subtle way in every chance given. You all walked towards the Great Hall in order to eat breakfast. Yes, your first decline was before 8. It was going to be a big day. “Hello, love. Tell me something. How does it feel to break hearts?” Sirius asked you mockingly. You weren’t that innocent to drop it. “Why don’t you answer that yourself, love?” you said, emphasizing the last word, almost spelling it out loud, voice like honey. He smirked. Merlin, you loved that smirk of his. Just as every other girl. “Where have you been all my life?” he asked flirtily. That was just your thing. You would flirt with each other shamelessly but it would stop about there. “Hiding from you” you said in a fake sweet tone while you batted your eyelashes once and pierced his eyes with your look. The guys laughed but he wasn’t going to stop yet. Lily was eyeing you knowingly. You knew that she believed that you should stay away from him. In all honesty, you had tried it. And failed. Miserably. “Go on, don’t be shy, babe. Ask me out” he winked at you. You smiled innocently and played with a strand of your hair. “Okay” you answered while smiling wider. He was taken aback. You took a deep breath pretending to be stressed out. “Get out” you said, dropping the smile and the fake tone and showing him the exit. Marlene snorted. For a second, you thought that he looked hurt, but nah. “Padfoot, stop flirting. Let us eat breakfast in peace” Remus asked pleadingly. He was trying to read a book at the same time. You smiled apologizingly towards him. “I’m not flirting. I’m just being extra nice to someone who is extra attractive” Sirius informed him wiggling his eyebrows, causing Peter to choke on his porridge. For a while you ate in silence, secretly thanking Merlin. You poured some milk into your coffee, bringing to your lips, taking a sip. “I know milk does good for the body but damn girl, how much did you drink?”. You choked. He grinned triumphantly. You had learned that a Ball would take place here, in Hogwarts. Christmas Eve. Your days were getting more and more annoying. You couldn’t recall how many times you’ve had answered a simple ‘no’ because it was exhausting. And today was the day your heart broke, the day of the ball. You were sitting alongside Remus in the common room. He was reading a book and you were thinking and dozing off while staring at the fire. “I am going to the ball with Black!” Marlene exclaimed too happy to notice your strained face. It was like all air left your lungs. You wanted to be happy for her, but you couldn’t bring yourself to feel. Anything. Everything was such a blur. You were numb. You couldn’t believe you were so stupid to actually think he would ever look at you like that. But why Marlene? Why your friend? “Hey. Y/N! Aren’t you excited?” Lily asked you beaming herself. She had said yes to James. Everyone was happy. Happy. You took a deep breath and shook that word out of your mind. “I am! You girls have fun!” you said with a fake smile that only Remus got. He furrowed his eyebrows but soon his eyes widened momentarily as he probably came to the same realization you had, three years ago. He looked at you with the question burning in his eyes. You just nodded with the slightest movement. He wouldn’t sell you out. Thankfully nobody understood that you weren’t about to go. “Have fun Rem” you wished him as you stood up, leaving the common room, heading to your dorm. The girls were probably in Lily’s room so you would be alone. Remus tried to call you but you didn’t respond. You just kept going. Oh, Merlin. It was going be one hell of a night. In a very bad way. You could hear the giggles and the laughs. You could almost taste the sappy sappy romance. You could sense the tension between some couples. The sexual tension, that is. But you couldn’t see because of the tears. It had hit you. All those boys asking you out… they never truly liked you. They liked the way you looked. Looks fade fast. Not one… not even one had ever bothered to actually meet you. To talk to you. To befriend you. No one. They just wanted the body. But you weren’t a body. You were a soul, a mind, a heart, feelings, emotions, thoughts. A mess. A chaos. And no one could handle you. He may have stabbed you but you handed him the knife. You showed him where your weak spots are. This was your fault. You should have listened to Lily and stay away. Now it’s really too late. Too late. The door slammed open, revealing a rather worried Sirius. The day was getting better and better by the second. You hid your face in your palms. You were sitting on your bed, knees to your chest and- you were a mess. He closed the door behind him. You wanted to scream at him to get out, but your mouth wouldn’t obey. “What’s wrong love?” he asked you. He came closer, sat on the bed next to you. “Stop it. Please” you whispered. You couldn’t keep pretending. Him, calling you love? “Stop what love?”. His voice revealed concern. Why did he care? “CALLING ME LOVE” you snapped, tears staining your cheeks, lips trembling, hair falling out of your messy bun. You couldn’t stop now. “Stop calling me love. Flirting with me. Smirking. Laughing. Smiling. Touching me. Stop being in my life. Just stop. Go to Marlene and leave me alone” you whispered-yelled. You were sobbing. Hard. He was taken aback. “You’re jealous?” he asked indiscriminately but there was something more. “YES I AM JEALOUS! I am in love with you, you moron. I can’t stand the fact that you’re flirting and sleeping with everyone and that you are with Marls now. She is my friend, Sirius. My friend. Why her? You could any girl you wanted. Why her?”. The words flew before you could contain them. “Because I couldn’t have you. Or so I thought. Because of you, my reality is better than my dreams” he breathed out, voice low and sincere. He grabbed your legs, wrapped one of his arms around your waist, making you sit on his lap, straddling him. His other hand cupped your cheek, his thumb wiping off your tears away. He gripped your chin, forcing your head up. “Did you know there are 21 letters in the alphabet?” he asked you, with a playful smile. You blinked. “There are 26” you answered pouting. “Oh right I always forget U R A Q T”* he concluded and you cracked a smile. He beamed. “There it is. My favorite curve. Well…” he trailed off. He squeezed your bum and you let out a laugh. “Be mine, angel”. *U R A Q T= You are a cutie (just in case!)
