Shawl शाल this finely woven single piece long Indian #shawl is jamawar जामावार? 19th century made from wool & silk at @metmuseum #winterwear दुशाला ? Reminds of my mother weaving repairing a long full length shawl made of wool, black colour with border in white cream colour, may be crotchet work of cotton thread. Image lingers from 1973 or so. It seems it was from Hardoi, my grandmother nani ji's connection. I could understand emotional attachment of a daughter with her mother and maternal world, that remains in memory after she is married off and lives in a different world. Time when #winter season starts, we could know as all old woolen winter wears are taken out and kept in winter sun, to let soak heat of sun rays. The smell is so over powering, can't be described in words. One has to experience itself through nostrils to absorb that mysterious smell. Another aspect is the ocean of love of mother for all of children. she tries to get prepared for winter beforehand. In another 40′, Mother’s Day .. every day is Mother’s Day .. many odes to her in words in expressions come .. sentiments are similar .. say something put it up they say .. fine have put it up .. in compliance with world wide sentiment .. but each day is hers .. shall ever be so ..

.. her marriage photograph .. its the image I possess in my room and in the remembrance of her with Babuji’s in another ..

.. in Allahabad .. perhaps a first conscious moment of what a photograph means for me .. never ever thought it would become a life line - pictures !! that bush shirt was special .. very ahead of all the fashion in those days .. but Ma had it made .. her aesthetics were always supreme !

.. cannot remember the occasion .. perhaps the wedding day .. but taking the blessings of Mother is beyond remembrance ever ..

.. ahh well, the same journo had proclaimed after seeing Lawaris that .. 

.. ehh , never mind .. not good to bring it up .. let it be .. !! 

.. negative comment and abuse is most necessary .. good for the constitution .. what they would say in todays CoViD 19 pandemic .. ‘builds the immune system’

.. and my most favourite photograph with Maa .. at Allahabad , at a close friends’ place .. the occasion .. a formal lunch for the visiting Chinese delegation .. that suit and tie specially made for the day .. !!

.. and there she is looking down at me in front of my desk where I punch these lines .. her grace beyond measure .. 

We live with Ma the entire day .. no matter what the occasion , or circumstance they keep you company by your side .. guiding you, caring for you, ever optimistic , ever inspiring , ever giving the never say die spirit .. 

.. and that Mother’s hand on the forehead, in times of pain and trouble and distress .. reassuring, giving utmost comfort .. no other hand in the World could ever take its place ..

.. all over, Mother’s build their home , their little nest , filled with warmth and love .. it is the most prized possession of their lives .. they dress it construct it secure it .. and dare you try to touch or destroy it .. they shall fight like a tigress against the oppressor .. 

.. you are never in any wrong for her ..  she shall ever protect you .. her embrace , her warm, loving and all enveloping lap, ever the most welcoming  .. never ever got replicated in an entire lifetime .. 

“ have you eaten .. don’t stay out too late ..”

.. even when you are a Grandfather , for her you are still her little child ..
