A Rock - Angel Reyes
A/N : The amount of positive feedback i got yesterday/today was ridiculous and it warmed my heart so much what the fuck 😭😭😭😭 so i wrote another! i’m glad y’all liked my first one so much and i hope y’all enjoy this one too!
trigger warning : none? maybe some swears. but that’s all.
word count : 1608
Tumblr media
“A rock?” Ezekiels voice was the first to be heard, his tone laced thickly with judgement as his brows pulled together, mirroring the tone he spoke with almost exactly. Angel had just finished telling him, Coco, and Gilly that he brought back a small rock from the desert. It had a few harder corners to it, it was a lovely brown colour that clashed with the grey shades and the few shiny bits that glistened as it laid in the palm of Angels hand, reflecting softly in the bright California sun.
“that’s fucking stupid.” Coco chimed in, he couldn’t quite place why in the world Angel would want to give her a rock, that wouldn’t impress her, not even in the slightest, if that’s what he was even trying to do.
“yeah, why the hell would she want a fucking rock?” asked Gilly next, his brows raised, his dark brown eyes stuck on the piece of earth in the mans hand until the taller Mayan pulled his hand back, balling his lengthy fingers around it.
“She likes rocks.” it was a simple answer, a soft huff blew from his flared nostrils as his friends words slowly started to discourage him, perhaps this wasn’t the best idea. Was it really that stupid? They had been out on a run, doing business in the blaring sun when the small stone caught his eye, half buried in the sand of the desert and he just had to give it to her. “She once talked about crystals, and shit, and this is shiny, close enough, right?” he shrugged.
“i still think you’re stupid.” Coco chimed in just before his hand dove to the inside of his kutte, pulling a pack of cigarettes out, picking out a single one before shoving it back in. Placing the stick between his thin lips, he cupped his hand around the flame as he brought the lighter to it, lighting it. Taking in a deep drag, he shoved the lighter back where it belonged and took a deep drag, ringlets of smoke eliciting from his lips. Angels eyes rolled back, listening to his friends bash his ideas made him not wanting to even present the rock, what if she thought he was equally as stupid they were expressing he was? His mind riddled with ‘what if’s’ as they continued the banter, toning it out until she entered the room.
“who’s stupid?” she asked, a dirtied rag thrown over her shoulder. With two long braids cascading down her back, she wiped her hands clean of grease as she walked into the clubhouse, though, that didn’t do much for the streaks of oil running up her toned arms as she went behind the bar for a bottle of water. “and why’re we standing here gossiping like teenage girls?” she asked, raising one of her perfectly arched brows, she cracked the seal, opening the water before downing a majority of it.
“Angel.” Ezekiel noted, his eyes flit from his older brother, to the woman standing behind the counter, she was doused in sweat, dirt jammed in the creases of her forehead as her brows pushed together quizzically.
“why?” she asked once she set down the water, her hand wrapped around the base of the bottle, shutting it tightly before she crossed her arms over her chest. Looking between the four, Angel was sending his brother glares that could kill, Ezekiels smirk was bright and shit eating, Gilly looked all bright eyed and bushy tailed while Coco didn’t seem to be paying much attention to the situation, but instead the curve of his coworkers hips.
Winnie had been working at the scrapyard for months now, and she was nothing short of a sight for sore eyes. She was confident in who she was, and it showed in how she carried herself. She got on well with the Mayans and the customers loved her, she usually held down the fort along side Chucky when the rest of them were off on business. She hardly asked questions about their work, she knew enough, and respected the privacy that came with what they did. Her uncle, Taza, ensured she got the job, but she would’ve anyways, her work ethic was impeccable and it showed in her references from previous jobs. Her friendships between her, and the Mayans that she’d work with day in and day out, were blossoming constantly.
Her questions were met with silence, up until Ez spoke, avoiding his older brothers menacing glares. “Angel brought you a rock back from where we were today and we think it’s stupid because who likes dusty ass rocks?” he spewed his words quickly, as Angel raised his fist to strike his brother for running his mouth, Gilly snickered quietly and Win’s eyebrows raised. She lifted her hand, placing it on top of Angels balled up fist, and slowly lowered it. His defensive posture quickly, and visibly, softened. His eyes shifted from him, to her, something about her gentle touch against his hand tamed the quickly rising temper that came from the embarrassment the younger Reyes intended on putting him through.
“You brought me a rock?” she asked, there was a soft sparkle in her eyes, one he wasn’t sure he had seen before, but spread a warmth in his chest never the less. Angel nodded slightly, she wasn’t sure if she spotted a hint of hesitation in it, but the corners of her lips lifted into a soft little smile.
“Uh, yeah.” he said, after her hand dropped from his, he almost immediately missed her warm touch against him, but wouldn’t dare show that. Especially with his brothers still standing around him. His free arm reached back, nervously scratching the back of his neck, the neatly cut strands raking against his rough fingers.
“Well give it to me, then.” she spoke in a duh tone of voice, and when he suddenly scrambled not to drop it, he dropped it in her hand. Shoving both his hands now in his pockets, he tried to play off the fumbling mistakes off, playing cool. If she didn’t like it? Who cares. Not Angel, definitely not Angel.
“Agate.” she grinned after examining the rock, she brushed her gentle fingertips over its smooth sides, grazing the rougher corners gently. It was gorgeous, it shone so brightly even in the poorly lit room, it’d definitely fit nicely with her little collection she bad started. She had all kinds of rocks and crystals lining the windows of her home, they brought her comfort, for multiple reasons. “Thank you, Angel. This is a gorgeous rock.” she beamed.
“Ha!” he nearly shouted, pointing his finger at Gilly and Ez, much like a four year old, the next words to come out of his mouth were “I told you so!” and “In your face!”
“Oh come on!” she could’ve sworn those words that came from Coco, were a mix of whining and very obvious disbelief. “What kind of chick digs rocks?” he asked, his shoulders slouched as he focused his eyes on her.
Opening her mouth to say something to tbe heavily tattooed man, Angel beat her to it. “she does, she collects them, she was talking about it once, something about never having time to go out and look for them but she loves them around her.” he said, pulling the memory from the back of his mind, there was a day not too long ago where Win would go off on rants when Chucky brought up the stone she kept on her, tucked in her pocket, she considered it her lucky rock and carried it wherever she would go, just in case.
She watched him in disbelief, her eyes wide in awe as he defended his decision to his brothers, who looked equally bored as they did annoyed that his seemingly ridiculous actions really wowed the woman they’d all been flirting with, for months now. Being almost entirely overwhelmed, a flare of bravery ran through her stark blue veins like adrenaline. Reaching her dirtied, but soft hands up, she cupped his stubbled jaw in her palms and pulled him closer to her. Standing on her toes, she met him half way, her lips clashing with his as she kissed him, it wasn’t long at all, but it means something. There was a pull between the two and the moment their lips parted, Angel wanted to dip in and steal another from her lips, yet a part of him was too stunned to do so when their kiss did end. He didn’t expect to end up here, but now that he had, he never wanted to turn back. “thank you” the soft whisper fell from her lips before she pulled back entirely, with the rock in her hand still, she grabbed her water bottle off the counter, and headed out of the clubhouse. Her shift was over, and she was now on her way home with a smile that would be stuck to her lips for days from now. Angel? Stood there, still in utter shock. Coco, Gilly and Ez were equally as bewildered by what just happened.
Maybe it wasn’t just the rock, and the sheer beauty in the colours that it contained, maybe it wasn’t that it was shiny. But maybe, just maybe, it was the fact that he listened to at least one of your stupid rants, and he remembered it. Maybe it was that Angel looked at this distinctive rock and he thought of you. Whatever it was, it meant the world to you.
“fuck, maybe I needa start bringing chicks rocks..” noted Gilly, the others nodding in silent agreement.

@ghostcoper / THE TALK.
Billy’s been hearing far too much Hollywood talk coming from Spencer lately, and boy does it bug him. Not because he doesn’t want the kid to make it big or anything -- on the contrary, he’d love for Spence to be some big name director someday! ... Keyword someday, because he doesn’t want him famous right now, at the tender age of 14.
It’s not that Spencer doesn’t have the talent -- he does, he’s the best director he’d ever seen, and he’d even tell him as such. But, it’s that he knows how alluring Hollywood can look -- how you’d think it’s all glitz and glam, and just rich people having the time of their lives, being important, making an impact. Billy knows better than anyone what a sham that all is -- it’s just a front for the dark, seedy underbelly of the Hollywood world. A kid like Spence? Well, he’d be eaten alive if he were to get famous at his age, and this rockstar ghost has no doubt about that. Not to disrespect his friend -- it’s just ... he’s been in his shoes.
The biggest difference is that Spencer’s never had to grow up with the spotlight on him, so he wouldn’t know how to handle or be used to it. Billy, on the otherhand -- well, he’s lived it all his life. He’s like the perfect, fucked up living ( or dead? ) personification of Hollywood -- and whether that’s a good or bad thing remains to be seen. He definitely feels like it’s a bad thing, though.
Anywho, when Spencer pulls him aside and tries to stress how important it is that they ‘win the competition with coco so i can make my hollywood debut!’ Billy’s had just about enough of it. He can’t stand hearing the kid talk about how amazing Hollywood life seemed, how he couldn’t wait for the glitz and glam and all the attention that came with it. With an irate expression, he forcefully jammed a finger against Spencer’s lips, shushing him. Once it startled him enough that he could get a word in, his expression fell... mournful, which was not the kind of look you’d think he’d have when it comes to talking about fame.
Tumblr media
“I dunno, Spence. I mean, winning this competition and becoming big time sounds absolutely baller, but ... I don’t really think it’s a good idea. I don’t think you’re ready for that kind of attention.”

Imagine Leah Imprinting and Rosalie Finding her Mate, You, a Lion Shifter
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title:  The Lion, The Wolf, and the Vampire
Pairing: Leah Clearwater x Male!Reader x Rosalie Hale Cullen
Request By: @rexburn12 (Song Imagine)
(A/N: So sorry for the late imagine request, I hope y’all like it!!)
It started with a hum, that turned into a whisper, until the whisper couldn’t be contained as it was. The whisper became notes that carried in the air, light like a feather but longing as they floated along.
“I found a love...for me”
Almost inaudible to all ears that were around the bonfire, two individuals heads had perked up at the haunting voice.
Every year as a way to celebrate the birth Renesmee, The Cullens, Jacob, Seth and Leah would have annual bonfire on The Cullen land. Why a bonfire? Well some of the Cullen’s, specifically a certain blonde and pixie cut Cullen, couldn’t stand the smell of lingering wolf shifter in the main house. Also, a certain wolf shifter, who had to be there because of them being the Alpha’s Beta, didn’t want to step foot into the Cullen’s house. So as a compromise for all parties, they would have a birthday bonfire for the half human-vampire child.
“Darling just dive right in”
There it was again. Rosalie looked around bonfire trying to find the direction the voice came from.
“Did you hear that?” Rosalie uttered talking to no one specially, but Bella was the first to pick up what she said.
“Hear what?” questioned Bella.
“And follow my lead” sang a voice, almost like the call of a siren.
“That,” Rosalie spun in the direction of East, “There’s something out there”
Everyone looked over concerned at Rose, if something was going to happen wouldn’t have Alice seen it and warned all of them. All the Cullens were silent for a minute trying to detect a sound or a scent that roamed around the woods but detected nothing.
“I’m not making this up,” Rosalie announced to the group frustrated that they couldn’t hear what she was witnessing. Bella placed her hand on Renesmee’s shoulder in worry that something was coming to threaten her family.
“Blondie is right, I can hear it,” piped Leah from the other side of the campfire confused that she was the only other one hearing it too, “and smell it.”
Seth placed a hand on her arm worried about his sister.
Leah looked over to Rosalie in surprise with a dash of distaste. After all, the Cullen’s and Bella were the main reason why they attracted that psychotic red headed vampire that killed her father, Harry. So why in the hell was she starting to hear the things the blonde bloodsucker was hearing, unlike the rest of the group she thought.
“Well, I found a girl,”
Rosalie could hear the voice again, it was masculine by the sound of the tone and the pitch. The male voice was captivating and soulful as it rang through the night, not disturbing the nightlife but acting as one of the many sounds that belonged with it.
“Is everything alright Aunt Rosie?” Renesmee asked Rosalie, innocently tugging on her sleeve.
“I don’t know my little snowflake”
In Renesmee’s first years of life, Rosalie would tend to look after her the most besides Edward and Bella. She gave her many nicknames over the years but two that stood the test of time were sweetheart and little snowflake.
 “Beautiful and Sweet”
“Ms. Clearwater, would you be able to track the scent for us? Carlisle asked Leah, who nodded still distracted by the voice, “Bella I think you should take Renesmee back to the house, the rest of us will go look for what is out there”
Bella collected Renesmee into her arms before taking her back to the Cullen house instead of Edward and her’s small cottage. It would be safer there. In the years that came after the initial ‘immortal child’ incident, Renesmee hadn’t really changed the age of her look. The growth spurt she first had was so impactful that the next one’s would very slowly come and catch up eventually. She looked the same from the time of the incident because her internal clock was still catching up with her body and when it would she’d start to age appropriately like a normal human.
“I never knew you were someone waiting for me,” the singing was now getting further away, like it was traveling in the opposite direction of them.
They needed to follow it now or else it would be gone forever Rosalie felt the panic within her as the singing was getting quieter. Leah felt the same thing coursing through her self too.
Without another thought or the go ahead of anyone else, Leah ran towards the direction of the voice and turned, letting out her giant white wolf form. She needed to find it before it was too late, and no one else was going to slow her down. Not even a second later, Rosalie followed in pursuit.
Meanwhile across the woodland, you had your duffel bag in hand mindlessly passing through the territory on your way to Seattle. You had wanted a change of scenery from hiding in the rocky mountains in British Columbia and wanted to return home to Nevada. Seattle was going to just be a pit stop on the way.
You decided to take the scenic route and stop by in the Olympic National forest to hunt. It was better this way to hunt here than in the city or any town, plus you didn’t want to attract attention in this state being who you are. If the locals said that they found a lion roaming around the forest and not the savanna, you were bound to be hunted and place on someone’s fireplace mantel.
A lone wolf you were...actually a lone lion, the last one. When you first turned, you didn’t go home, you ran away as far as you could and never looked back. Homeless and hungry for many years you were until someone gave you a job on a native reserve up north. The natives had helped you develop your skills of changing and told you stories about shifters like yourself but had no proof that others currently existed. You built a cabin and lived there up til a couple weeks ago, when you had mastered your changing ability and decided it was time to go home.
You had your earbuds plugged in jamming to your tunes from the phone you obtained through hard work. An honest man you like to think of your self as you’d work for everything that was currently on your body and in your bag. You walked through the forest not minding the cover of night as you were walking in the direction towards Seattle from the national park.
The song ‘Perfect’ By Ed Sheeran had come on your playlist. You started to hum it which turned into a whisper and then you started to sing. Back at your temporary home with the natives in the rocky mountains, they had praised your singing. Apparently it was one of your gifts that had been bestowed upon you, as a shifter. Some could run fast or have immeasurable strength but you had been blessed with the voice of an angel. You learned to busk and sing to make some extra money, which didn’t hurt.
“Cause we were just kids when we fell in love, not knowing what it was, I will not give you up this timeeeee!” you belted not giving a care, “Darling just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own! And in your eyes your’re holding mine!”
Little to your unbeknownst, you didn’t notice the smell or vibration on the ground of a large group heading your way, for you were too absorbed in the music.
“Baby, I’m dancing in the dark with you between my arms. Barefoot on the grass listening to our favourite song!” you bellowed with eyes closed, “When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath, but you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight!”
You let the music trail off without realizing that you had two sets of eyes following your form from a distance. Leah had found you first by following the sounds of your enchanting voice and distinct smell of artificial pine and sandalwood.
She stopped from a distance behind a set of bushes, assessing whether or not you were a danger to her. She admired from behind your (N/C) hair and your (B/T) form. You wore a dark olive coloured canvas jacket overtop a light blue button-up shirt with black jeans. You had your eyes closed when you turned around, and still singing, when she saw your face.
Like an incoming headache, it came hard and fast to Leah almost knocking her back. Like a roller coaster going down after the first gigantic incline, Leah could feel her mind and soul lift, as if she was having an out of body experience, then be slammed back into her form. As she came back to reality from the mind boggling experience, the center of her gravity refocused under a new light, your light.
‘So this is the whole rave about imprinting, I can see why Sam and the rest of them went crazy for coco puffs,’ Leah thought to herself comparing the mental state of imprinting to a cereal slogan.
She wasn’t the only one that felt that very same thing when she looked at your handsome face. On cue, Rosalie was the next one to see your unaware form singing in the forest.
To Rosalie, you not only sounded perfect but you were. Gracefully and oblivious you moved naturally like a willow tree in the wind. Your face had the perfect curvature that she wanted to trace with her fingers and eyes. She could only imagine what your eyes looked like. Blue like water found at Isle Esme, ivy green like the colour her father’s study was when she was human, or possibly brown like a rich worn leather jacket? She needed to know.
Coming to your senses, you smelt something in the distance. One scent smelt like you but not at the same time, and the other you couldn’t recognize as something that you have witnesses in your life.
Not wanting to tear one of your better outfits, you quickly undressed to your skimmies. You could sense it was near, observing you even, so you turned.
Shedding your true self, came forth the king of the jungle, your lion form. Full luscious golden mane and tan fur. Whiskey in the sunlight eyes shined through the darkness in the forest, scanning to find whoever was watching you.
You took one more sniff in the air before charging at whoever was behind the set of bushes not too far. You pounce on a form, surprisingly almost as large as yours and had them on their back. Doing a once over of the form beneath your claws, you noticed that it was a large white wolf with eyes that look scared but mixed with something else within them. You didn’t know the emotion but you started to get dizzy looking at the wolf. You looked away trying to focus on something but your eyes then fell upon a blonde women that you assumed was with the wolf. Again the dizziness hit you.
You felt more than fine a few seconds ago, what happened to you?
You got off the wolf and started walking backwards. You pawed at your muzzle to try and wipe the feeling away but it kept coming. You saw yourself, slightly older stuck in theses woods, with two other people. Women? One a strikingly elegant pale blonde and the other an alluring rustic dark raven haired women. Each held your hand simply walking through the forest, each with their head on your shoulders, dreamily listening to you sing. The song you sang in this vision was the one you just belted in the forest.
What was this feeling? What did you see? Who were those two women? You recognized the blonde one from the vision as the one in front of you but the other women was unknown.
You shifted back to your human form unable to take anymore of what you saw.
“What the hell?” you whispered to yourself getting up off the forest floor in the nude.
Leah reverted back as well, also being in the nude, and realized that you imprinted on her as well.
‘Shifter imprinting on shifter, was unheard of, let alone on a whole ‘nother species of shifter,’ she processed
You rubbed your eyes before focusing your vision on the blonde and now present raven haired women in front of you.
“What did you guys just do to me?”
“You’re talking to both of us?” Leah asked when you referred to the both of them.
“Yeah, you guys were watching and did something to me. I just had the weirdest vision with the both of you in it for some reason?!” you massaged your temples then made eye contact with the both of them.
The both of them?!?! Leah and Rosalie simultaneously thought. In less than a  couple seconds, the rest of the Cullens showed up along with Seth and Jacob as wolves. After getting to a closer distance, everyone in the group could hear the mesmerizing singing that Rosalie and Leah did hear before it stopped. Leah and yourself ducked behind the bushes to hide your guys modesty.
“Woah geez I didn’t expect a whole flock of you guys to come running,” you held out your hands to show that didn’t want to attack.
“Who are you people? Especially you guys, the wolves, are you guys all shifters?” you pointed questioningly at the two large wolves still utterly bewildered at the situation.
“Who are you?” spoke Rosalie gazing over body taking in all the details.
“I’m (Y/N), I was just hunting in the area and just leaving to go to Seattle. I don’t mean to hunt on your guys land, I was just taking a detour,” you eyed each individual but your eyes lingered on the lady shifter beside you and the blonde.
“Where do you come from (Y/N)?” asked the stunning women beside you in the bushes.
“Rocky Mountains, British Columbia. I didn’t think that there were any shifters left other than myself, I thought I was the last one” you laughed in disbelief, “And you didn’t answer my question. What did you guys do to me like what was that whole vision thing you did?”
“You imprinted on them,” spoke the lean pale brunet man stepping forward from the rest of the group, “The vision you saw was in the future of the bond you share with my sister Rosalie and Leah, the shifter beside you”
“Wait what’s imprinting?”
“In our case, it’s a profound bond between you, her, and myself if you saw the three of us in your vision,” Leah, the lady that stood beside you, explained gesturing to you herself and the blonde Rosalie.
“Ummm okay, I’m still slightly confused and uncomfortable at the moment, due to the lack of clothing. Is it possible that maybe we can discuss this somewhere else with more than just bushes covering,” you waved your hand in front of the bushes covering your genitals, “this please?”
“Personally I don’t mind the view,” muttered Leah sending you a wink.
“Me neither,” you mumbled side eyeing her gorgeous body.
In a snap, Rosalie collected your clothing and your duffel from the ground, where you left them, and handed them to you. Rosalie’s hand brushed against yours sending feel-good tingles down your spine. Her body was ice cold to the touch but was perfectly contrasting your blazing skin. You sent her a dashing smirk her way and she gave you a genuine teeth-showing smile, something she rarely showed others.
You put on your clothes and gave Leah some shorts and shirt to wear in the meantime, because she didn’t have any clothes nearby.
“Our home is more than a walk back, I recommend that you travel with one of us,” said the mature blond man of the group. Rosalie raced over by your side and picked you up bridal style.
“Wow, now this one I can check of my bucket list,” you said taken aback by the sudden position.
“And what is that handsome?”
“To be held by an angel,”
Nevada seemed like a distant memory at that moment in time. Home no longer seemed to be Nevada, it now was in the arms of this exquisite blonde and in the eyes of the ravishing raven haired women.

By The Way - Part 5
The next morning. His point of view.
Warnings: smut, language, mention of sex
You woke up with the hell of a headache. Not knowing what happened after you jumped into the pool, you turned your body and met hers. She is still here, you remembered kissing her, you remembered almost telling her that you fell deeply in love but you didn't. You said something different, a nearly close meaning but different. Her hair was still a bit wet and it smelled like a mixture of chlorine and her vanilla-coco shampoo. She felt warm lying next to you. You cannot help but smile at the view of her in you shirt. It was to loose for her body but made her look too comfy in it. She didn't wear makeup yesterday since she applied sunscreen on her body. You remember staring at her while she rubbed the cream on her body. "Don't stare creep!" she laughed at your facial expression yesterday. She was a natural beauty, you cannot believe that you have never registered it over the last years. You have seen her nearly six years ago for the first time but never realised what a beautiful women she is, with a even more beautiful soul. She cuddled up next to your body. "Morning!" Her voice raspy from the alcohol last night. "You look terrible" she added. "Thank you!" You turned your head towards her. "Is the terrible looking man still allowed to kiss the sleeping beauty?" Your heart dropped as she giggled to herself because of the question. Her hand slowly buried in your hair, pulling you towards her. Sloppy kisses were spread all over your lips. You rolled over to her and supported your upper body with your arms next to her head. "Ah fuck!" You almost broke down. "I shouldn't have drank so much!". Hectically pulling up from the bad and running to the bathroom leaving her behind in your room. You emptied your whole stomach contents in the second you could reached out to the toilet. One second later and it would have landed on the carpets in the bathroom. Your stomach was cramping. Your head was twisting. You felt weird and it wasn't because of the rest alcohol in your body. It was because of the women lying next to you. You cannot help but be totally in love and that's what your body also knew. In combination with alcohol it was a feeling which made you want to get swallowed from the earth beneath you.
***
Sitting on the cold tiles of the bathroom floor, your head against the bathtub you rested yourself for minutes. You opened your eyes as you heard a knock on the door. "You alright?" Matt stretched his head through the small slit of the door. "Man you look terrible!" He laughed at the sight of you. "I shouldn't have mixed up all the alcohol and shrooms last night, man!" You need to choke again. Holding your arms right to your stomach the vomit came out for the third time in half an hour. "Or you should just commit to yourself that you don't have the balls to tell this girl in your bed that you love her." Mitch mumbled while he reached for his toothbrush not even bothered by the smell of your vomit. You two have been through those mornings a few times now, it wasn't something he didn't have seen.
The door opened again. "Oh good god, if you need someone to hold your hair back, just let me know!" Nikki turned around and left with an disgusting face as she smelled the mixture of vomit, peppermint and sweat in the bathroom. "I like her" Mitch pointed with his toothbrush in the direction of the door and grinned towards you. Your body still embracing the toilet and your head almost hanging in it, your whole body felt exhausted to answer.
***
After a cold shower and another half hour which felt like two day you've managed to get yourself together. You grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge and made your way out to the terrace. The sun still shining so bright, it almost hit you like a wall as you made your way outside. You couldn't help but smile in adoresment of what you saw right Infront of you. Nikki was sitting on the grass with her brown hair, which had some brighter streaks from the sun, made up in a high messy bun. You liked the scarf which she knotted around her hair to protect the roots. She wore a bright bikini top and cute washed out jeans shorts. Her big sunglasses covering her eyes. She looked like someone out of a seventies movie. Smiling in completion with the sun while singing to Mitchs guitar jamming Johnny Cash's Personal Jesus. You've listened to her music a lot of times and also heard her live on stage but the sound of her voice right Infront of you gave you chills.
Lift up the receiver
I'll make you a believer
Take second best
Put me to the test
Things on your chest
You need to confess
She threw herself on the grass her arms raised towards the sky. Mitch ended the song with his interpretation of a few chords. "Hell yeah, awesome!" She screamed out high fiving Mitch. If you didn't know any better you would've said she is still drunk. But she is just a full-blood musician which was happy with her live. And you were happy beeing able to watch her like that. "I need something to drink" she crawled up and saw you standing at the door. "Don't stare, creep!" She bumped her hips to yours. It wasn't the first time she did that. Almost like a habit since a few month. She was playfully around you. You asked yourself if she wanted to tease you or if it was some casual acting of her towards close friends. You weren't close friends. Close friends don't fuck each other. As she entered the kitchen you turned around looking at her. Almost like she felt your eyes on her, she also turned around. "You better?" "Sort of. Shouldn't have mixed everything last ni.." you chuckled nervously looking down at your feet in shame of yourself. "Bullshit!" She interrupted you "I saw you taking those mushrooms while I was in the kitchen." You looked at her even more ashamed and in addition you felt guilty. She stepped aside you and grabbed the empty bottle of water to hand you a new one. Your hands slightly touching each other. It felt like small fireworks burning your skin. "Rule number one, don't drink and do drugs at the same time. It fucks you up!" She bumped your nose with her finger. The next fireworks start to get of in your body. You stared at her in confusion. A streak fell out of her bun which you tugged behind her ear again. The colour faded from her face while the two of you stared deeply in each others eyes. "I ... bathroom" she stumbled holding her hands Infront of her mouth. She rushed to the door. "She's gonna throw up, is she?" Mitch called you. You've heard her gulping as she didn't even managed to close the door in rush "She is, yeah" you called back.
***
As Nikki walked out in the garden again, the colour of her face was not completely back. She let herself fall next to you in the lounge chair. You cannot other than throw your arm around her neck and pulled her in to your side. She quickly grabbed your hand on her shoulder, pulling it closer and cuddles up her backside next to you, her legs pushed up the chair against her body. You could feel her body shake and could tell how bad she must feel now. "Rule number two: Don't mix up all the alcohol!" You said out loud. "Shut up, Harold!" She mumbled into your arm, her head thrown back at your shoulder. "Nope!" You poked your lips.
Mitch and the girls were watching the scene of you two infront of them. Mitch and Sarah looking at each other and nodding agreeable. Mitch raised his hands towards you "You two... we need to talk?" "Huh??!" Nikki raised her eyebrow at Mitch and tryed to catch your eyes the next moment. "The next time you decide to fall over each other, please try to do it more subtle" "Sorry" you raised your hands innocent "I was high!" "I was drunk" Nikki added annoyed. "You two unfucked our pool!" Clare interferred snappish.
"We didn't fuck, we just kissed!" You raised your voice in annoyance. "You made out.." Sarah added while taking a bite of an apple. Nikki raised from the seat "Ridiculous...I need to go to the bathroom!" "You stay here, girl!" Mitch demanded her halfway through the door. "I need to pee!" Nikki glared back at him. "Whatsoever, the next time you fuck each other please do it a little more silently. I've heard your moanings all through the night. Needed to bury my head in the pillows." Mitch leaned back into his seat and took a sip from his coke watching the two of you staring at each other in shame. Just as Nikki turned around and ran into the bathroom he added. "She's gonna throw up again." "Jep, she is" you added.
***
"I'm okay" she said almost silently while you entered the bathroom. "You sure don't look like okay" you smiled towards her. Letting you slip down next to her, sitting next to the bathtub just like you, hours ago. "My grandma would've killed me if she saw me like that today" she turned her head towards you, smiling at you. Her hand now touching your hand. You could actually see the sparks flying between you two. The part of your skin which touched her skin felt so warm. You felt her lips on yours. She kissed you softly. Her other hand pulling you in towards the kiss.

‘Fly Me To The Moon’
Yang looked downright stunning in her prom dress, a bright gold cocktail dress with a pleated train. Streaks of purple accented the pleats. It was perfect for dancing as well as walking since it fell to her shins. She could hear the music already, even though she'd made the scene much too early.
Her girlfriend performing with the band meant they weren't able to make a real evening of the prom, but they could still have a wonderful time.
The back door opened, and Blake appeared. Her eyes turned to stars at the sight of Yang. "You look breathtaking, Sunshine!" Blake told her before stealing a soft kiss. Yang blushed and grinned.
"You're one to talk, Moonlight! Out here looking like the sharpest-dressed man in Remnant!" Yang complimented. Blake was wearing a dark purple tuxedo with a gold dress shirt underneath. "You even wore the black suspenders I bought you!"
"They're useless because these pants are a tad small at the waist, but I like the aesthetic. Thanks again!"
"I just wish I could have worn my tuxedo..." Yang nicked. Blake chuckled.
"Hey, that's the great thing about going to rival schools! When your school's prom happens I'll put on my best dress and be the prettiest girl there! And you'll get to strut around in your bright gold tux with me on your arm, and tell your friends 'Hey, so I'm hitting that' every time I walk away!" Blake mused. Yang laughed at her. "And Coco won't be at that dance trying to out-gay both of us."
"Won't that be Ilia's thing?" Yang joked. Blake scoffed.
"Ilia could never out-gay anyone. She's too awkward. Plus she has a nosebleed every time she sees a girl." Blake laughed at her best friend's expense. Ilia was lovely, even for a useless lesbian.
"So, will we actually get to dance some time tonight? Or are you gonna be with the band the whole time?" Yang asked, making sad eyes and a pouty face for effect. Blake kissed Yang's forehead, making her blush. Yang kissed Blake's cheek, and finally, their lips met. The two girls kissed for a long moment, though their kisses never lasted long enough for Yang. She pulled at Blake's suspenders as the catgirl pulled away from their kiss.
"There are a few songs they don't need me that badly to perform, so yeah, we'll have some dance time. There's one I must be onstage for, though." Blake winked at Yang, the blonde smiling back at her.
"Do you think they could do 'Sunshine' without you? I'd love to dance to that song with you!" Yang pleaded. It was her favorite song by Blake's band.
"I think we can work something out..." One of the guys called Blake's name, her cat ears perking up. "I am needed inside. I love you, Sunshine! I promise we'll dance the night away!" She told Yang, sneaking one last kiss before walking back into the building.
"I love you too, Moonlight!" Yang replied, blushing the whole time.
"GAY!" She heard someone say behind her. She turned to see Coco and Velvet.
"I mean, that's what I'm aiming for..." Yang retorted. Coco looked spectacular as always, sporting an evening gown the color of coffee with matching hose. Velvet wore a bright red number that hugged her shape and glimmered in the light. The rabbit girl looked as though she felt out of place. She wasn't much for playing dress-up, but Coco always made sure she looked fantastic.
"So ESKAPE is playing tonight? I don't know that ska music offers much in the way of dancing..." Coco mused. Velvet shook her head, one of her upper ears folding over.
"They can play all sorts of stuff, Coffee Cake! It will go over great!" Velvet encouraged. The front doors opened, so people could finally start entering the dance.
Seeing all of Blake's friends and schoolmates all gussied up for a formal dance was wild. Yang didn't know too many of them, but they were usually friendly. A catgirl with a bright orange tail tried to hit on Yang but instantly realized she was Blake's date.
"Yeah, you're definitely Blake's girl! You're all she talks about; glorious mane of golden hair, purple eyes, a bit top-heavy... a real knockout. I think I'll congratulate her!" The catgirl rambled ceaselessly. Yang could not wait to get away from this girl.
Thank gods, Ilia appeared across the room. Yang politely excused herself from the chatty catgirl and practically ran to the chameleon girl.
"Hey, Scale Face! Aren't you with the band?" Yang asked her.
"I've worked with ESKAPE, but I have a band of my own. Right now we're called the Useless Lesbians, but that's just a placeholder." Yang laughed at the name. Bands aside, Ilia looked incredible in her rainbow evening gown.
"Thank you all for coming, or rather, thanks for having us perform at your prom!" Sun Wukong, another member of ESKAPE, spoke into his microphone a few songs deep into the dance. "If you guys don't mind, I'm gonna take a break from singing and pass the mike to our wonderful Blake Belladonna!" Everyone cheered as Sun grabbed the microphone stand with his tail and sat it down in front of Blake.
"Hey, Mistral High! You guys feeling all right tonight?" Blake asked, receiving cheers. "Wonderful. So I wrote a little something for my favorite girl. She's the smoking hot blonde in the gold dress. Hands off, she's here with me!" Yang blushed ten shades of red at that. Blake strummed her guitar in a jazzy rhythm.
They say that every day the universe expands
And we discover certain things that we don't understand
Well, dark matter ain't the only mystery at hand
I'm wondering how I got a girl like you to say that I'm her man
It's a statistical anomaly, but girl you've got me
Gravity is pulling me to your heavenly body
No astronomical phenomenon could ever stop me
You've got a smile that every star in the galaxy copied
The constellations couldn't make as beautiful a pattern
The conversations -- every night I ring you up like Saturn
The telescopes tell us folks that you're the coolest view
A supernova's scooting over to make room for you
Because you eclipse every wonder of the cosmos
It's almost unfair to them, but you're the one I want most
It's a miracle that Galileo never found you
If he did, he'd say the universe revolved around you.
After her dangerously smooth rap verse, she went into a rendition of 'Fly Me To The Moon'. Yang could not believe what she had just heard. Blake had written that about her?!
"Alright, I'm gonna give Sun back the mike and go have a dance with my favorite girl. Cheers!" Blake announced, setting her guitar on a stand and hopping off the stage to find Yang. Yang pulled her close by the waist and pulled her into a deep kiss, even leaning over for effect. She heard somebody clapping for them but that didn't matter.
"Fucking superb, you funky little Kitty Cat!" Yang told her as they pulled out of the kiss. It was Blake's turn to blush ten shades of red.
"I'm glad you liked it, Sunshine! So, Sun's about to play our song. Shall we dance?" Blake suggested. Yang heard the first chords of 'Sunshine' and she and Blake tore up the dance floor.

Long Dream –Live Remix– (A Side)
Title: Long Dream –Live Remix– (A Side)
Rating: T
Word Count: 7598 total, 3758 this chapter
Characters: Coco, Joshua, Neku, Beat, OMC, OFC
Warnings: Major character death
Summary: Her Magnum Opus nears completion, and as her audience approaches, she hurriedly arranges one final rehearsal.  Elaboration on a pet theory of mine, built out of Final Remix spoilers.
Every day streets are crowded with people
Every night streets are jammed with these noises
Things are so strange, are they real or a dream?
Where am I now, trapped in this city of illusion?
***
Neku surveyed his surroundings.  It didn’t take him long to recognize them.
“This is Cat Street…”
“Yo, finally!” Beat said, running a few steps ahead.  “We can get outta Shibuya from here!  I’m so ready to be done with this crappy Game!”
Neku looked up the street, murmuring, “Unless the way ahead has been rearranged too…”
He tensed a bit as Coco stepped up behind him, the tiny Reaper saying, “No worries fam!  See, the way ahead looks, like, totez clear!  That super tough wall you guys just made it past must’ve been the last challenge!”
Neku’s eyes caught on the café just ahead.  Even in this situation, it still sparked a very complicated emotion in his heart.
“Yo, whatchu waitin’ for,” Beat said, “an engaged invitation?  Le’s go, man!”
Beat took off.  Neku followed at a slower pace, saying, “Hold on!  While we’re here, shouldn’t we ask Mr. H what’s going on?”
The other boy skidded to a halt.  “Huh?  You think the H-Man’s gonna tell us anything?”
“He might.  We have time to spare—it can’t hurt to ask.”
Coco made a face as she walked up next to him.  “Uuuuh, source?  That guy, like, oozes bad vibes.  You should totez just finish the Game!  That’s all that matters, yeah?”
Neku shook his head.  “I still want to know what’s going on.  Out of the people who might actually know, Mr. H is the only one with an address.  We might not get another chance.”
The Reaper rolled her eyes and shrugged.  “I mean, I guess, but like, why risk it?  The finish line is literally right in front of y’all—just cross it and end the Game.  Then if you still wanna talk to Coffee Weirdo, just walk right back in and do it then!  It’ll totez be less stressful once we’re off the clock!”
Beat nodded.  “Yeah, man!  We gotta get this over with either way.  Plus we might get an explanation jus’ for winnin’!  We’ll keep the H-Man as a back-up plan, aight?”
Neku crossed his arms.  “I still feel like this would be less risky.”
“Aw c’mon!” Coco said, skipping down the sidewalk.  “You srsly need to chill, Neku!  Let’s just finish the Game already.  Besidez…while we stand here chatting, the other Players are still fighting Noise and stuff.  Like, uh, Shiki?  Do it for her!”
“Right: Shiki and Rhyme is still out there, Phones!” Beat said.  “We gotta end the Game now!”
With a sigh, Neku grumbled, “…Alright, I guess we shouldn’t keep them waiting.  But soon as we’re done, I’m coming back to get answers.”
The three of them ran down Cat Street, with Coco trailing farther and farther behind.  Eventually she came to a stop, and just watched the boys continue with a wide grin on her face.
“Ugh, finally,” she said to herself.  “This pair was WAY more stubborn than the last, 7.8/10 too much effort.”
Neku noticed they had lost her just as he and Beat ran over the city limits.  The next thing he noticed was pain.  Intense, searing pain, like his entire body was on fire.  Judging by the way Beat had toppled over on the ground, the same thing was happening to him.  Neku fell to his knees as the agony worsened.
“What’s…happening…?!”
Coco slowly approached them, taking care to not actually cross the limits.  “This is fine!  All according to keikaku.  Congratz on winning the Reaper’s Game: Expert Mode!  Oh btw, keikaku means plan.”
Beat cried out suddenly.  Black and red flames consumed him, burning brightly for a few seconds before vanishing, leaving not even ashes in their wake.  Neku’s eyes widened in horror.
“What did you do to him?!” Neku demanded.
“Erased him, duh,” Coco said.  “Though technically wasn’t me, actually my baby that did it.”
“What?!”
“He needs loads of food to grow up big and strong.  I’ve tried, like, a gazillion different things, and the Soul of super tough Players like you two is what works the best by far!  ty so much!”
The pain only grew.  Neku screamed, doing all he could to endure it despite knowing he was failing.
Coco put a hand to her ear.  “Mmmm whatcha say?  Couldn’t make that out.”
It wasn’t long before the flames consumed Neku as well, and then he too was gone.  Coco put her hands on her hips and smiled.  The world around her shifted, wavering like a mirage until it all melted into one swirling void of bluish clouds.  Before her spawned a massive creature: a tapir with purple skin and six tusks, yellow tattoo-like protrusions in the shape of flames erupting all across its form.  Its red eyes focused squarely on Coco.
“Yay!  Look at you, you absolute unit!  You’re, like, so strong now you could body anyone!”
Coco threw herself onto the tapir’s trunk, hugging it tightly—the creature gave a guttural rumble in response.  She could sense its power increasing, and giggled happily as she took a step back.  The tapir lowered its head and nudged her gently.
“Okay, okay.”
Reaching up, she scratched the tapir’s trunk.  It tilted its head and squeaked.
“Aw, who’s a good boy?”
Coco hopped up to the top of its head, lying down so she could reach far enough to scratch behind its ear.  The tapir lifted its trunk and trumpeted happily, then floated up and down in place, jostling Coco only the smallest amount.
“Haha, very good, such cute, wow!”
Soon it settled down.  Coco propped up her head with one hand, continuing to slowly pet the tapir with the other, and let out a long sigh.
Tapez my dude, I’m, like, so glad I have you.  ngl you’re kinda my bff.”
The tapir grunted, swinging its trunk slightly.  Coco swayed along.
“I dunno when it’s going down…but I’mma make sure you get through it.  You’re one of my peeps too now!  So it’s a legit promise!”
Coco extended her pinky.  The tapir inclined its head a little and flexed its claws.
“Oooooh right.  Well, still totez binding lol.”
She pressed her face against the tapir’s skin, letting her eyes close.
“Aaaaaah, we’re almost there, Tapez.  Should just need, like, another few rounds and you’ll be a prime example of the ideal Noise body!  Though tbh if the next pair is as annoying as this one, totez just gonna yeet them straight into your stomach.”
Her phone chimed.  She opened one eye to look at the screen, and then rolled onto her back and groaned loudly, kicking her legs about in frustration.
“Uuuugh for real?  Fine, whatevs.”  She paused to pet the tapir one more time.  “Sorry Tapez, I gotta bounce.  brb and then we’ll go find you some more treats!”
The tapir squeaked a farewell, and then Coco stood up and shut her eyes again.  Focusing her power, she elevated her Vibe and reached out with her mind to feel for the world she wanted to travel to; after so many times, it was easy for her, and in mere seconds she had concrete beneath her feet.  Opening her eyes, Coco looked up at the skyline of Shinjuku and smiled brightly.
I love my city tbh.
***
Feel the people, hear the voices
They are reaching out to catch you
Feel the rhythms, hear the noises
You are beating all the visions
***
Coco moved through the city at a slow pace.  Shinjuku was a travel hub, a place that was purely transient for most: each moment was fleeting, but each brought something new, something different, and that everlasting tumultuous tide of life fascinated Coco in a way nothing ever had before.  Each second was something wholly unique, and she never wanted to miss even one of them.  She spun around on a corner, taking it all in, and just laughed to herself.
“Having fun, Atarashi?”
Her good mood was spoiled instantly.  She grimaced over her shoulder to see Joshua standing there, looking every bit as smug as she remembered him.
“fml what are you even doing here Kiryu?” she asked, turning around and crossing her arms in a huff.  “Can’t you, like, take a hint?”
“Nice to see you too.”  He raised a hand to his chin.  “Hm.  I’m curious: why is it you hold onto your wings even in the RG?”
Gesturing to them, Coco said, “Aesthetic.”
“…And what aesthetic would that be, exactly?”
“fyi I’m headed to a super important meeting rn so unless you’re finally ready to fite me irl then I, like, don’t even want to hear it.”
Joshua chuckled and brushed aside a lock of hair, which only made him seem even more smug and made Coco even angrier.  “Stimulating as that has the potential to be, we’d both be in quite a bit of trouble with the folks upstairs if we were to have a skirmish.”
“Oooooh good point,” she said as she turned away.  “And I bet you’re, like, already in hot water after the way you went off.”
“Nothing to worry about on that front.  I’ve spoken with my Producer and he assures me the matter has been put to bed.  Things in Shibuya will be staying the way they are.”
Coco spun around.  “WTF?!  You two are out of trouble just like that?  I literally have no words!”
“Hm?  Why, I would assume your Producer has been apprised of the details as well.  Has he not passed them along to you yet?”
There was a short delay, and then Coco glanced aside and grumbled, “That must be why he sent me that txt…”
“I take it you’ve been too busy with your side project to stay on top of the paperwork.”
Coco locked eyes with Joshua.  He was still smug, that would never change, but now there was a deadly undercurrent to his words that demanded Coco’s attention.
“tf are you even talking about?” Coco asked.  “You really need to stay in your lane, Kiryu.”
“That’s rich, coming from you.”
“Explain.”
“Well for starters, I know you’ve been poking around my city.”
“omg!  Tourism is a crime now?”
“Considering our circumstances I believe it falls more under ‘corporate espionage’.”
“It’s totez hilair to me that you consider the UG a corporation.”
“Setting that aside for the moment, there’s also the fact that you’ve been shirking your duties as Composer to jaunt off to an alarming number of parallel worlds as of late.”
Coco smirked.  “Aw, u just jelly I can travel between worlds without needing to call an Uber to get back.”
Joshua shrugged.  “I admit, it’s a skill I’ve yet to master—even my alternate selves seem to have difficulty with it.  One came to call on me recently, you know.  Said something about a bizarre Noise erasing two former Players in his world.”
Yawning loudly, Coco said, “Kiryu can I, like, get a tl;dr?”
Joshua’s face began to darken, the undercurrent gradually rising towards the surface.  “Well Atarashi, it certainly sounds like you’ve been attacking alternate Shibuyas.  If so, that’s something I believe qualifies as ‘in my lane’.  Wouldn’t you agree?”
Coco cackled.  “Pffft omg are u srs?  I am DECEASED y’all, the guy who just tried to wipe his whole city is acting protective up in this bitch!  lmaoooooo!”
Joshua stared hard at her.  “Coco, do think for a moment: how do you suppose the Higher Plane would react to this news?”
“What, are you, like, planning to tell them?  If you’ve got some proof then hmu.”
Joshua didn’t answer.
“lol that’s what I thought, smdh you better sit down Kiryu.  Even if I were, like, messing with parallel worlds or whatevs, why would the Higher Plane even care?  Angels from this world have no jurisdiction there.  It’s free real estate.”
Slowly, Joshua nodded.  “…Alright.  Perhaps you have a point.  Let’s leave the Higher Plane out of this hypothetical.  The only one you need to be concerned with…is me.”
The air suddenly felt very heavy.  Coco actually needed to remind herself to breathe, but she made sure her reaction wasn’t obvious.
“So, Atarashi.  Explain to me why you’ve been killing Neku in so many parallel worlds.  And, do try your best to make it a very good explanation.”
Coco brought her hands up to her face, twisting slightly away.  “lololol I’m confused.  Mad cuz I beat your record?  Or want to make sure I don’t off this world’s copy of Edge Head before you can tell him he’s worthy of your grace?  Honestly?  I ship it.”
Joshua paused.  “Neku himself isn’t the issue here.  But if you’re making a move into my territory—“
“Yeah yeah yeah, cuz you care, like, SO much about your territory!  I am SHOOK seeing you come in here acting like the authority on protecting your peeps!  I could learn so much about my job from watching you!”
“I’m feeling a bit of déjà vu.  I could have sworn I’ve already told you that a Composer’s job is simply to judge their people, and that it is only the existence and boundaries of their respective UG that require protection.”
Coco covered her mouth.  “omg!  Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?”  She dropped her hands and stuck out her tongue.  “jk obv you’re full of it.”
“I don’t see why I should need to divulge my motivations to you of all people,” Joshua mumbled, “but if you must know…I was under the impression that Shibuya was not worth keeping around.  Now that I’ve seen it still holds potential, I of course have every intention of preserving the seeds that I’ve sown.”
Coco scowled at him, but didn’t speak at first.  Nearly a minute passed before she said, “Then tbh?   I’m not your enemy.”
Joshua’s eyebrows went up.
“It’s, like, only a matter of time before a new kind of Game starts up Kiryu.  Their Game.  And I’m gonna be mad prepared when it does.  If you had literally a single brain cell you’d totez be doing the same thing.”
By the time she was done, Joshua’s eyes had narrowed down to a suspicious glare.  “Surely you’re not referring to the party I’m assuming?”
“Like, who else?”
Joshua stared down his nose at Coco as he considered his next move.  Coco grunted, drew out her phone, and checked her messages.
“My, you truly are impossible to figure out,” Joshua sighed.
Coco gave her best Clearly Fake Smile and replied, “Because you’re an expert at that lol.  I’m nothing compared to your galaxy brain.”
“I think I could do it if not for that absurd…shall we call it a dialect?”
“Uh, this is how people talk now?  Hello?  If you knew anything about people, then like, you’d already know that, but as always you have 0 friends so buh-bye.”
“…Hm.  And, exactly how many friends do you have, Atarashi?”
Coco frowned.
Joshua turned.  “But, alright.  If this is some plan to deal with the Inferno, then I’ll drop the matter for now.  But, one thing I’d like to make clear before I go.”  He took one last glance back at her, eyes full of ice.  “I will not tolerate any interference in this world’s Shibuya.”
He was off without another word.  Coco suppressed the urge to shudder, turning back to her phone and mumbling half-formed syllables as she made herself look busy.  She looked back up to be sure that he was gone, and then sighed and tucked her phone away, gazing over Shinjuku once more as she waited for the tension to leave her body.  It was immediately replaced by joy.
“omg whoops.  Rōjin is totez still waiting orz.”

Is it angels?  Is it devils?
Whispering in my ears
Is it emotions?  Is it illusions?
I need to be with you

Coco poked her head through the shrine’s gate.  Looking up the path, she could see a bald, tan-skinned man with a stoic face sitting at the building’s entrance, his eyes already locked onto her.  She flinched.
“Uuuuh what’s up gamers?” she blurted as she stumbled forward.  “I know I’m, like, totez late, but I have a tru legit reason for it, get a load of this!”
The man was Seiji Rōjin, owner of the shrine and also Shinjuku’s Producer.  He offered not a single word as Coco hurriedly explained her encounter with Joshua to him.  When she was done, he nodded and closed his eyes; Coco looked around awkwardly for a few seconds, and then took a seat next to him.
“You must leave your Opus be,” he ultimately said.
Coco started.  “Uh, excuse me?  Abandon all my hard work just because that nerd doesn’t want me near his bf?  I think the heck not!”
Rōjin opened his eyes to look at her.
“…Um?  Something else?”
“The Higher Plane demands a Game.”
Coco blinked.  Then she rolled back, digging her fingers into her scalp and shouting, “AAAAAAARGH, srsly?!  I know I haven’t held a Game in, like, forev, but can’t they just let me handle thingz down here?  Please say sike!”
Rōjin said nothing.  As she accepted the reality of the situation, Coco’s heart sank.
“But…Tapez…”  She groaned.  “…Is, like, a teeny bit of faith in me too much to ask?  They know I’ve got mad skillz!  When you taught me how to make Tapez, you said I was one of only, like, three Composers whomst’ve ever been able to control Magnum Opus Noise—they should be totez impressed with me already!”
“The Higher Plane demands more of your position than mere talent,” Rōjin said.  “It demands discipline.”
Coco pulled herself back into a sitting position.  “I am, like, sooo disciplined!  I legit wanted to tear Kiryu’s face off, but I didn’t!”  She got back on her feet as she went on, “Like, sure, this is about Shinjuku, but the whole reason I’m working on Tapez is so he can protect my peeps!  Making sure he’s bad enough to dunk on anyone is literally The Best Thing I can be doing rn!  The Inferno is out there, you know, somewhere, and we dunno when they’re gonna throw hands!  And now I have to take time out of my counterattack schedule to run some basic-ass Game?”
She whirled back to face Rōjin.  He didn’t say anything.  Coco stared at him for a few moments, realizing she was getting a headache.
“…heck.  We don’t really have much of a choice, do we?  If the Higher Plane wants a Game so bad, then like, we gotta pull together a Game.  Tapez will just have to chill for a week I guess.”
Coco put a hand to her head as she trudged past Rōjin for the door.
“Ugh, lemme see, the Conductor obvs needs to show, and we should probably @ all the Officers too.  idk who’s gonna be the GM this week but they—“
The pain in her head suddenly turned sharp.  She paused mid-step.
“…they…”
Her vision blurred, then went dark.  And then she saw Shinjuku again, but it was…different, somehow.  As if viewed through some sort of filter.  She saw the streets, the people, and then a glowing red symbol up in the sky—and then the streets were empty.  Not a single soul was left in Shinjuku.  No, not quite, next she saw one person: a girl who slowly walked forward with a blank look in her eyes.  The girl stared straight ahead, but couldn’t see Coco.  Still, she opened her mouth to speak.
“All that’s left in the world is me.”
Coco gasped as the shrine came back into focus.  At first she was too surprised to make any sense of the event.  But as she breathed, she processed it, and her eyes shot wide as pure dread came over her.
“Uh…a-ah…I…”
Rōjin stood, watching her with furrowed brow.  Coco’s entire body shook as she turned to face him.
“I…I saw it again…!”
She jumped forward and grabbed Rōjin’s shirt.
“It was the same vision!  You remember, right?  From, like, WAY back when I first asked you about Magnum Opus Noise?  I saw it again!  Shinjuku was erased—it was an Inversion!  I-I…”  She looked down as tears started to form in her eyes.  “I haven’t seen anything since that day…why now?  Is…is the Inferno about to attack Shinjuku?  Is that what this means?!  Are we out of time?!”
She felt a hand on her head.  Looking up, she saw Rōjin staring back at her, his face as calm and stoic as ever.  Coco swallowed hard, and then exhaled slowly.
“R-Right…right.”  She managed a chuckle.  “Like, look at me, crying in the club like a little bitch!  Thanks bunchez, Rōjin.”
She stepped away and wiped her eyes on her sleeve.  Coco found herself looking up at the sky, as if to verify what she had seen hadn’t actually come true…at least, not yet.  The same skyline greeted her.  But this time, she just couldn’t feel happy about it.  This time, it made her feel resolute.  She turned back to Rōjin.
“Sorry fam.  But I, like, can’t just sit on my ass and play a Game rn.  The Higher Plane might not be convinced, but I just know the Inferno’s on their way to end my whole career, and I’m not about to take that.”
Rōjin paused.  Then, with a single nod, he said, “Mood.”
Coco giggled.  “omg, you’re, like, literally the worst!”
She left the shrine and made her way back up the street, thinking, Dunno how much more time I have to beef up Tapez.  My boi’s totez strong, but I can’t be too careful, and probs don’t have much time for last minute boosts.  I need to, like, think of how else I can improve his chances…
Her feet slowed, and she looked back at the shrine.
…Hm.  I wonder what she would think?
Coco crossed her arms.
I mean, she’s gonna be totez disappointed there’s no Game.  But like, she’s still my Conductor, yeah?  If I can’t trust her to back me up, then who can I trust?
She turned and got moving again.
At the v least I gotta ask.  Whatever it takes…my Shinjuku is going to survive.

Every day noises are killing these people
Every night noises are waiting for me but
Don’t run away, we’ve got no time left to fear
Where are you now, still it’s showing me illusions

Miss Howard University Interest Meeting: Tuesday @ 7:00 PM
You didn’t even get to the end of the decorated flyer in the student union before you snatched it off the bulletin board and jammed it into your binder.
Miss Howard was a coveted title. The perks of campus royalty were abundant but, those only factored into part of your motives. After sitting in on several SGA meetings and listening to your teammates discuss their issues with the administration, you began to realize that you were missing a lot in regards to the current state of your beloved institution. You wanted to help the campus community and, in your mind, donning the bedazzled crown and stifling skirt suits was a fast track to achieving that goal. It also wouldn’t hurt to get a little attention from the man you called friend.
The rush to your apartment left your calf muscles burning and your chest heaving to pull in any available oxygen.
“Why the hell do I live on the third floor,” you huffed, fumbling with your keys.
Pushing open the door introduced you to the smell of burning food, incense from your room and sandalwood. Chadwick was somewhere around the small space, probably let in by Tanisha as she made her way to work.
“I stood over this stove all day just for you to come home late. I swear negros can be so unappreciative.”
You rolled your eyes and dropped your duffle bag to the ground, “You burning up my good pots. And stop coming in my house uninvited.”
Chadwick poked his head around the corner to look at you. His smile faded when he watched you pull off your sneakers and toss them across the living room. Slowly, your shoulders rose and fell as you composed yourself.
“You okay, CoCo? Long day?”
“Coach was insane today. I never want to see another baseline again!”
You pulled your drenched hoodie over your head, tossing it on top of the other dirty clothes in the Adidas bag before flopping down on the worn couch against the wall. Leaning your head against the back of the furniture, your brain began to torment you with memories of the most grueling practice of the season. After the weekend’s embarrassing loss, Coach was less than happy to start a week of practices.
“You couldn’t run on offense last weekend so, your asses gone run today! To the baseline!”
You winced at the replaying of her voice in your head and the couch dipping beside you. Chadwick pulled your bag in front of him, rummaging around the dark interior for the tape to wrap your ankle. As often as you reminded him that the trainer would take care of it in the morning, he swore up and down that he knew the best way to keep your injured ankle in tip-top shape.
Gingerly grabbing your leg, he pressed his fingers into your throbbing calf, rubbing and kneading the aches away. His long fingers danced across your ankle, seemingly erasing the pain in every spot he grazed. Your mouth involuntarily let out a drawn-out moan before you could stop it. A crooked smile curved the corner of Chadwick’s lip though he didn’t acknowledge the sound.
“Anything else happen today,” he asked, eyes focused on your smooth legs.
“Eh, not really. I made a C on a quiz I studied for, almost ate milk with my cereal after morning practice, took a Miss Howard interest flyer, told Jerom-”
“Woah, Woah, Woah! Go back.”
Miming a reverse in movements, you started your monologue from the top, “I made a C on my business quiz, I-”
“Don’t play, girl. You picked up a Miss Howard interest flyer.”
“Yeah. Something wrong with that?” You fiddled with your thumbs to avoid eye contact with Chadwick. If you had it your way, you would’ve moved past that snippet of information in favor of talking yourself out of attending the meeting and letting the opportunity pass. Chadwick’s smirk slowly morphed into a toothy grin. “You, Tasha ‘Fuck the System’ Green, want to be Miss Howard. The most prissy position on campus? You serious?”
“I want to help!”
“Was SGA not accepting new members?”
“You know what, forget it. I won’t go.”
“Oh, come on,” he whined, trying to pry your arms out of their folded position against your chest. When you didn’t budge, he moved to pull you into his chest. “I’m sorry, Co. I didn’t mean it like that. It just surprised me.”
“You don’t think I can do, do you?”
“Look at me,” his fingers brushed across your face to turn your head toward him. “I think you can do anything you put your mind to. Is this something you really wanna do?”
“Yes. I wanna show the campus that you don’t have to be the stereotypical beauty to be a campus queen,” you exclaimed, standing on your feet to hobble to the center of the room. “Queens are supposed to be agents of change. I can do that! I know I can. This is the way I wanna affect my campus community. The tall girls with scraped knees and strong shoulders need love too!”
“You do have some strong ass shoulders.”
“See. That’s why I don’t invite your black ass over here.” Your agility and quickness aided you in surprising Chadwick with a shoe to the chest, temporarily injecting a pained grunt into his solo laugh session.
“Got damn, girl. Big ass shoe,” he grumbled. “If this is what you want, I support you 100 percent. I’ll get you on the phone with my sisters, talk to the last queen to give you some pointers...whatever you want me to do.”
“Really?” Your eyes lit up in excitement, contrasting his eye roll in faux annoyance.
“Yes. You the Queen, right?”
“Right?”
Jumping to his feet, he rushed over to grip your shoulders. “Don’t half-ass it! You the Queen, right?” He eyed you expectantly, waiting for you to catch on.
“Hell yeah, I’m the Queen!”
“You damn right, you the Queen. Act like it and let’s go get you this crown.”
The end of Chadwick’s pep talk started six weeks of ‘Boseman Bootcamp.’ Every evening after class and practice, your otherwise chill best friend would force you to spend another two hours on your feet preparing for the pageant. With books on your head, he would watch you wobble around your apartment in heels, trying to keep your head high and back straight.
Conversations with his older sister gave you an idea of how to prepare your opening speech, complete with practice rounds to ensure that you slowed your words to remain clear and concise for judges. Additional sessions with his friend and former Queen, Layla, gave you an inside scoop on how to impress during the solo interviews and group sessions before you even hit the stage.
Chadwick cleared his schedule as much as he could to work on the dance sequence and talent portion, being sure to give his honest opinion every step of the way. The only thing he hadn’t done was pick your outfits for the night, contending that he wanted to be surprised with everyone else.
With all of the prep focused whipping you into perfect pageant form, you forgot to warn him about the possibility of guests. Honestly, you intentionally chose to keep both sides in the dark. From the first mention of the pageant to your mother in passing, plans were crafted to have your family jump on the first flight from Atlanta to D.C. to witness your crowning moment. While your sister was aware of Chadwick’s place in your life and your feelings, you purposely omitted those when it came to your parents. In their minds, no one would hold a candle to your high school boyfriend and Marine standout, Tariq, so there was no need to fill them in on the second man in your life. Especially since the relationship had yet to progress beyond an innocent peck on the forehead and a few kind words. Chadwick wasn’t your boyfriend and, therefore, there was no need for introductions.
Despite never pressing the issue, Chadwick regularly wondered why you never made an effort to introduce him to the rest of the Green clan. Since the night they met you, his family regularly asked about your wellbeing and made you a regular fixture in family moments. If he was on his way home for a break, you were more than welcome to tag along, an invitation you accepted on more than one occasion. They regarded you as a piece of the family, and it hurt him to think about the possibility that you were ashamed of him.
When your family rolled into town early Thursday morning, you made sure to keep the two parties separate. Your mother was the first to walk into your home, looking around for any visible signs of dirt or disarray.
“Well, Tasha, I see you’ve kept the place clean like I taught you,” she lazily ran her fingers across the coffee table’s surface to check for dust.
“Or she’s trying to hide the evidence,” Tiana, your younger sister, snickered. “Where’s lover boy?”
“TiTi,” you hissed in response but, it was too late. The secret was out.
“Loverboy? You got a boyfriend, little girl? And you didn’t even bother to tell your mama?”
“He’s not my boyfriend, ma! We’re...friends. Best friends.”
“I wish all my best friends were that fine,” Tiana laughed, snooping around the pictures on the walls leading to your bedroom.
Before you could defend yourself, loud banging and strained grunts shifted attention from your nervous sputtering to your father wrestling with Tiana’s suitcase to get in the door.
“I’ve carried sacks as heavy as a toddler up a hill. Hell, I’ve carried 200-pound men on my shoulders in the heat of battle. But I have never, ever, carried anything as big as this suitcase. Tiana, what did you bring all of this for?”
“I need options, daddy. There are college educated men all over the place. I have to stay ready!”
You and your father rolled your eyes at Tiana though you silently thanked God for the momentary distraction. Your dad, Gerald, was your best friend before you even knew what one was. He taught you everything you knew about baseball and basketball from the moment you expressed interest. He went to bat for you every time your mother made a fuss about your dirty dresses after church or how much time you spend outside trying to master a fadeaway jumper like Michael Jordan. When Tiana was old enough, you rejoiced in the fact that your mom finally had someone to go on shopping trips with and force into ballet.
Drastic differences between you and your mother put a damper on the relationship in high school but, with the help of family therapy sessions, the two of you came to understand that your differences were not rebellion. You were your own person, and Elaine had to accept that. Still, she told anyone who would listen how excited she was that her oldest girl would follow her campus queen footsteps.
“So, Pumpkin, you ready for Saturday night? Have you been practicing,” your father asked over dinner.
The soft chatter of other patrons did little to help ease the worry clouding your mind. “Yes, sir. Me and...a friend have been working for a month and a half. I feel confident going in.”
“That’s my girl. You’re a winner! Just like your old man!”
Your mother eyed you over the table, not ready to bypass the second mention of your “friend.”
“Is this friend going to be at the pageant? Why didn’t you invite him to dinner?”
Your father nearly choked on his sweet tea, prompting your mother to pat him on the back through his coughing spell. “Him? Pumpkin, do you have a boyfriend.”
If you could’ve, you would have melted into a puddle of embarrassment and slid out of the door to the nearest storm drain. Instead, you were forced to face the three sets of eyes awaiting your explanation. Realizing that you would no longer be able to keep your business private, you opened your mouth to provide details.
“No, daddy, he’s not my boyfriend. He’s my friend who happens to be a boy. He’s dating someone else right now,” you half lied. He wasn’t dating Michelle; he was fucking her and maybe saying hello when he would see her on campus. That didn’t stop her from swearing that they were more.
“And what is this boy’s name?”
“Chad. Well, Chadwick bu-”
“Chadwick? What the hell kind of name is Chadwick?”
“A rich man’s name,” Tiana mumbled while sipping her drink and looking around the restaurant. She didn’t notice that the attention had shifted to her lusty outburst until she turned her head back to the conversation. “What? With all that directing he’s doin’, he better be rich one day.”
“Ti, don’t do this.”
“And you better marry him!”
“Tiana!” She playfully stuck out her fruit punch coated tongue as you rolled your eyes, making a mental note to wait until she was at least 21 before you shared any more information with her.
“Marry,” your mother scoffed. “Oh, I need to meet this boy! Marrying an artist? What has gotten into you? What about Tariq?”
“Elaine, Tariq isn’t the best catch,” your father defended.
“Says who? He’s handsome, his career is stable, and she’s known him since they were kids. He’s clearly her type.”
“Tariq is also gay,” you interrupted, fed up with the discussion. “Even if I was interested in him, the feelings aren’t mutual.”
Holding on to that secret was tough enough without having to blurt it across the sticky table of a chain restaurant. Your mother had no idea what you type was because she spent much of your life setting you up with her type. You loved men with confidence and a free spirit. Elaine enjoyed the bravado of military personnel and the security that came with being a Marine wife. Trying to please her in high school led to several unnecessary heart breaks. As soon as you were accepted to an institution miles away from her overbearing gaze, you vowed to date who you wanted. With the exception of Chadwick, it was working.
Elaine’s jaw slacked with confusion before she could recover. “Well then, I...I guess you have it all figured out. I’ll back off.”
“Ma, I did-”
“No, no,” she started, smoothing out her khaki skirt and looking to you with a smile. “You’re an adult now. You know much more about yourself than I could ever. I know you’re capable of making good decisions.”
Silence hit the table for a brief moment as you smiled back at your mother. Though small, the breakthrough was more than you had been able to pull out of her in years. Clearing her throat, Tiana injected her contagious energy into the mix.
“So, is he really gay? I knew it!”
                                      ___________
Thursday transitioned into Friday before you could get a grip on what was happening. With your parents in a separate hotel, you felt comfortable enough to bring Chadwick back to your apartment for last-minute pageant prep. Though you hated to admit it, he was becoming your sense of calm in the whole ordeal.
His large knuckles obnoxiously tapped at your door, making you groan, and Tiana’s eyes light up. If you didn’t know her, you would assume that she was about to go on a first date. Her Karl Kani mid-drift and high waist denim showed the most skin she’d ever been able to show in her entire life. When you told her to get dressed for company, you didn’t intend for her to go in your closet to mimic your personal style. Swinging open the door, you watched Chadwick continue to drum against the door with a smile.
“CoCo Green finally decided to call a brotha.”
“Oh, hush. I don’t see you for one day, and you act like I abandoned you!”
Laughing, he pecked your forehead to Tiana’s surprise. Heat rushed to your cheeks, burning your face almost as much as the grin you’d been holding.
“You must be Chadwick,” Tiana boldly assumed, changing her voice to mimic Toni Braxton’s.
Chadwick turned to you with a smile, realizing who she was by the resemblance. “Yeah, that’s me. Tiana, right? I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Oh, have you?” She cooed, batting her eyelashes.
“Tasha talks about you all the time. How’s Mathletes?”
Tiana’s ‘grown-up’ facade quickly dropped at the mention of her high school activities. Rolling her eyes, she slid from the arm of the couch onto the cushions, grumbling incoherent phrases.
Chadwick shared a look with you before following you into the kitchen to keep the conversation private, “How you feeling, Champ. You ready to take your crown?”
“I don’t know, Aaron. I saw LeAndra at dress rehearsals last night, and she’s good. Like, really good. I can’t compete with that.”
His face screwed up, “She can’t even read. Trust me, I know. I had to listen to her audition last semester.” Memories of sitting in on the “closed” auditions with Chadwick temporarily pushed away your negative thoughts. “What can we do to make you feel ready?”
“She needs a hug,” Tiana yelled from the living room. “From you!”
“Do you,” he asked, eyebrows quirking in mischief. “Come here! Let me give you some love.”
Try as you might, you couldn’t escape the long arms of your childish friend. Chadwick easily pulled you into his body, tickling your sides and drawing a cackle from you in response. His arms tightened around you, turning the innocent moment into a hormone-charged embrace. Your eyes locked for a flash before both of you backed up to opposite sides of the kitchen.
“Yeah so, uh, can we go over my talent one more time?”
“We can but, I think you got it. You’re gonna be amazing, girl. And, even if you’re not, I’m gonna tell you that you are.”
“You plan on lying to me?”
“I never lie to you.” Eye contact created another stalemate as you searched his eyes for any indication of a lie. You found none as usual. Throwing your hands up in surrender, you turned to rummage through the fridge to retrieve a Gatorade for both of you. Chadwick shifted his weight in preparation for his next question. “I see your sister is here. Does that mean that I get to meet your parents this weekend?” In surprise, your head slammed against the top of the refrigerator making Chadwick laugh. “I get it if you don’t want to, Co. I’m just saying...I had no problem introducing you to mine.”
“Chad…”
“Don’t explain. Pass me that Gatorade and let’s go practice these questions.”
Before you could rush out an apology, he was out of the kitchen and interacting with Tiana on the way to your room.
The question and answer session did wonders on your anxiety, allowing you to prepare in front of the master of stage presence himself. His constant reminders to smile and exude confidence burned into your brain by the end of the hour-long rehearsal, you felt like you would excel during at least one portion of the competition.
On the way out of your room, Tiana gave you a cheeky smile behind Chadwick’s back, receiving a set of middle fingers in return. Closing the door behind you, you turned to face your friend.
“Tomorrow,” you started abruptly.
“What?”
“Come early tomorrow. You can meet them then, okay?”
A broad smile spread across his face, revealing his beautiful gap, “Okay, girl. I’ll hold you to that. Tomorrow.”
Final goodbyes followed until he was out of sight and off to finish his day. Walking back into your apartment, you found Tiana attempting to jump back onto the couch to act natural.
“Would it kill you to mind your business,” you asked sitting beside her on the sofa.
“I don’t know. Would it kill you to stop actin like you don’t want that man? Introducin’ him to Mama and Daddy? Sounds like Miss CoCo has a maaan!” Her cackle made your turn your nose up in disgust. A quick flick of the wrist sent a decorative pillow against her face, switching the roles. “Dammit, Tasha, I’m telling Daddy!”
“Good! Then I’ll tell him about this outfit stunt you pulled.” Her mouth opened to speak before closing in defeat. “Yeah, that’s what I thought. Now put my shit back!”
                                           ____________
“A little blush here,” a beat, “More on this side...and here we go!” Your mother whipped out a handheld mirror to allow you to judge her makeup application.
Your eyes crinkled as your cheeks rose in a smile, happy with the job she did. While Tiana adjusted the tiny hat over your hair, you turned from side to side to get a better look. Powder foundation rested against your soft skin, a light layer of blush accentuating the apples of your cheeks. Her signature red lipstick was passed to you to add to the look and give you, what she considered feminine appeal.
Still, as you looked around the crowded dressing space at the nine other contestants, you couldn’t help but feel out of place.
Apparently, you missed the extensions memo; your usually short haircut washed and conditioned to form a tightly coiled afro . The other women looked so beautiful and petite in their cruise ship attendant outfits, contrasting the way your long legs and big feet seemed almost manly underneath the short skirt.
Sensing your moment of self-doubt, your mother grabbed the lapel of your jacket, “You know, I didn’t look like a pageant queen either.”
“Impossible. You’re so pretty.”
She smiled and unpinned the broach on her coral dress, sticking the sharp end into the inside of your jacket. “Back then, all the girls looked like you. They were so tall and lean and, there I was, short and could barely see over the microphone.” Without looking at you, she clasped the bedazzled frog pin onto your outfit. “I believe in you, Tasha. You can do it.”
“Mama, this is your lucky pin. I can’t take this.”
“You damn right, you can’t. I’m gonna need that back until you cross those burning sands,” she laughed. “But, tonight, let the power of my founders lead and guide you.”
Her smile matched your own as she pulled you into a hug, rocking your body from side to side. Lost in the moment, you didn’t hear your father walk up until he cleared his throat.
“Uh, pumpkin, this young man says he knows you. Pushed past three people at the door to get back here.”
Opening your eyes, you found Chadwick nervously standing beside your father, cowering away from his death glare. His chest and torso were barely visible behind the assortment of flowers in his hand.
“Yeah, I know him, daddy. This is the friend I was telling you about. Chad, meet my mom and dad.”
“Hi, Mrs. Green,” he nervously replied. As if the light bulb in his head turned on, he jumped to pull a sunflower from the bouquet. “This is for you. I know Tasha has a rose allergy so I, uh, I got these instead. If you don’t like it, I can take them back!”
“No need, Chad. These are lovely. Thank you.” Your mother graciously accepted the single flower, giving you an amused nod before turning to organize the rest of your outfits.
Chadwick made sure to greet Tiana again, handing her a sunflower identical to your mother’s. Your father’s intimidating stare dialed back at your request as he introduced himself, smiling at you over Chadwick’s head.
“And these are yours,” he added, placing the bouquet in your lap. “I wanted to give them to you before it got too crazy at the end. My mom, dad, and Kevin said good luck, by the way. You look...wow. They should go ahead and crown you right now.”
“Whatever. Look at all these girls. I’m so out of place right now.”
Chadwick took a look around, waving at a few of the women that waved at him, before turning back with a shrug. “Between you and me, they all look the same. You stand out, and that’s what’s important. Stop doubting yourself.”
You couldn’t tell but, your family heard every word of Chadwick’s declaration and shared school like giggles in the corner amongst each other. You smiled at his kind words, nuzzling your nose against the flower in your hand.
“Ladies, place! The show begins in ten!”
Bodies scrambled to get into place, prompting you to stand and adjust your skirt. Your support group gave you their last encouraging words on the way to the auditorium, leaving you to do the rest of the pep talking inside your head. In a flash, the big moment approached and sent waves of adrenaline pumping throughout your bloodstream.
Lakeside’s “Fantastic Voyage” fit the cruise ship theme for the opening number to a tee though, you reminded the director on several occasions that the blue costumes resembled flight attendant uniforms. Regardless, your feet and body worked as one to effortlessly carry from point to point, feeling like second nature as the song progressed.
By the end, you were perfectly positioned in the center of the group, smiling down at the judges and audience in a textbook pageant pose. You kept your introduction short and concise like you had been instructed, remaining upbeat and cheery through the opening speech. The bright lights may have skewed your vision but, nothing could stop you from reacting to the loud hoops and hollers of your teammates, family, and Chadwick.
The praises from the audience intensified during the swimsuit portion, further adding to your overall confidence. You waltzed across the stage in a bright red, two-piece and matching wrap skirt, highlighting the athlete’s body that many didn’t know existed. Chadwick attempted to avert his eyes because of his proximity to your father but, he couldn’t seem to look away. He knew that you were beautifully proportioned from the times he’d seen you dressed to party and, still, he wasn’t prepared to see your legs holding a perfect behind and the abs of steel that rested above them.
“Talents” graced the stage following swimwear, becoming a cacophony of botched monologues, off-key song covers, and rhythmless dancing. Your acoustic rendition of Angel of Mine, taught to you day and night by Chadwick captivated the judges and earned you raucous praise from the audience.
A brief intermission allowed you to shimmy out of your swimsuit with the help of your mom and sister and into your formalwear. The red, halter neck dress showed off your toned shoulders and stopped just above the floor. The slit in the front gave you the right amount of room to walk with no obstacles, and the train in the back added drama to the look.
After your walk and bio read by the MC, you waited in line for the question and answer portion. The questions ranged from silly to serious, seemingly alternating as they got closer to you. LeAndra went before you, picking out a slip of paper and handing it to the MC in front of her.
“Contestant Four, do you believe that you are a good role model?”
Year of experience showed through her proud stance as she rolled her shoulders back and flashed a bright smile. You had to admit; she was your stiffest competition in the whole ordeal. LeAndra was beautiful, well known and already involved in campus activities. Her desire to be a politician in her home state of Mississippi made her charming but, her extensive knowledge of pageantry made her a threat.
“What a great question,” she cooed, stretching her Southern drawl. “I do believe that I am a good role model. Howard University has afforded me the opportunity to affect my local and global community in so many ways. Whether it’s working with the Boys and Girl club during my Spring Break or spending time with the elderly, I’m always sure to give back while maintaining an honors-level GPA and participating in extracurriculars. The Bison grind has made me an excellent role model, and I intend to use those principles if I am chosen as the next Miss Howard University.”
Satisfied claps from the audience and impressed head nods followed her answer, making her beam with pride on her walk back to her spot.
Your heart thumped loudly in your ears as your turn drew closer. Dipping a shaking hand into the basket, you chose a question and prayed that it was one of the ones you spent all night going over.
“Contestant five, why do you think you are the best choice for Miss Howard University.”
Taking a deep breath, you released you worry and focused on the question. “Thank you so much for that question. I love your coat by the way,” the audience and judges laughed at your compliment. “In all honesty, my flaws make me the best candidate for Miss Howard University. I’m an unconventional choice that shows the everyday woman that beauty comes in all forms. I’m a little loud, not always graceful and I snort when I laugh. Those quirks make me relatable. Women all over campus can see themselves in me and...that’s how it should be. If I’m chosen, I plan to show other women the beauty in their flaws as well.”
“You sure are beautiful!” ripped through the atmosphere, coming from the only person in the room bold enough to scream out during a formal event. Your smile grew when you spotted your family and Chadwick giving you the thumbs up. No matter the outcome of the night, you felt fortunate to have such amazing people by your side.
Sauntering back to your spot, you felt peace in knowing that you gave it your best effort. The outcome was no longer in your hands, and you would accept whatever result came your way.
Another intermission to tally the votes gave you time to say a quick prayer behind the thick velvet curtain. When the veil was pulled back to reveal the ten contestants for the last time before a winner was crowned, the crowd stood their feet to offer a standing ovation.
“Wow, aren’t these ladies stunning?” the MC asked over the noise. “This is by far the greatest pageant I’ve had the pleasure of hosting, and I wish each of you the best of luck. Without further ado, let’s present the awards voted on by the contestants themselves.” Certificates for Most Reliable, Best Smile and Miss Congeniality were passed out quickly and without much fanfare. The real awards were the most important, and you needed to know the outcome before you exploded on stage.
“Now, for the moment all of these ladies have been waiting for, the announcement of Miss Howard University. First, we’ll announce the first runner-up who will serve as Miss Blue and White for the 1999-2000 academic year. Your new Miss Blue and White is…”
Suspense hung in the air and breath caught in your throat as the MC let the tension build.
“Everyone, stand and congratulate Miss Tasha Nicole Green.”
Your mouth hung open from shock as the reigning Miss Blue and White motioned you over to receive your crown and sash. Loud whistles from the crowd clashed in your ears but, none louder than Chadwick’s. You graciously waved to the crowd, still shocked that you were even called. You fully expected to walk out empty handed and party your disappointment away with your teammates. Instead, you stood as a member of the Royal Court.
“And, your Miss Howard University for the 1999-2000 academic year is...Miss LeAndra F. Harvey!”
Tyrese’s ‘Sweet Lady’ played in the background for her victory lap as onlookers cheered her accomplishment. Joining them, you clapped for her success earning a sweet smile in return. It was no secret that LeAndra wasn’t the nicest person during the process but, if you were forced to serve beside her for an entire school year, it made sense to be kind sooner rather than later.
Two hours, 1,000 pictures and a set of sore feet later, the ordeal was over, and you were granted the opportunity to sit down and rest in the designated dressing area. Your teammates rushed you first to make jokes about you turning soft on them, you coaching making sure to remind you that being a queen didn’t excuse you from practicing. Other contestants congratulated you and LeAndra came over to compliment you on your performance. Finally, you were greeted by your family, Chadwick noticeably hanging behind.
“Oh, my baby is a queen,” your mother exclaimed, pulling you into the tightest hug you could stand. “I’m so proud of you.”
“Thank you, Mama. I couldn’t have done it without you and the frog,” you smirked.
“Pumpkin can shoot the three and curtsey. Jack of All Trades just like her old man.”
“Thanks, Dad.” You accepted his kiss on the cheek with a smile, noticing Tiana’s expression. “What you got to say, TiTi?”
“I wanna know when the queen perks kick in! Can we get into parties tonight or do we have to wait a weekend? I can come back!”
“See, this is why you’ll be staying home and going to Spelman, young lady,” your mother scolded, pulling your sister away to gather all of your things.
With your family occupied, Chadwick stepped up to greet you, “You did amazing,” he rushed out.
“Thank you, Aaron. You really helped me out. This is your win, too!”
“I wouldn’t be nearly as nice in a dress,” he laughed. Pulling you up and off of your chair, he engulfed you in a hug, the strength of his arms locking you into place. “Congratulation, Co. I’m proud of you.”
You settled into the hug for a moment until you noticed the smiles from your family. Your mother, the naysayer from the beginning, gave you a thumbs up before pulling your sister and father out of the space and to the car.
“I think they like you.”
“Who,” he asked, pulling away to look around.
“My family. They like you. I can tell.”
He laughed loudly, picking up your shoes from the floor beside you and extending his hand for you to grab. “Probably not nearly as much as my family like you. You know my mama tried to come up here for this, right. She’s gonna go crazy when she sees the pictures I took.”
“Oh God, please, don’t show her the swimsuit photos.”
“I won’t,” he agreed, holding the door open for you to walk out of. “Those are for Kevin.”

“Wait, run this by me once more.” Tom was a bit confused so he wanted to make sure what he was understanding.
Matt nodded. “Okay so, we would like to hire you another PA, someone who can catch you from accidentally giving too much away during interviews. Harrison can stay on as your actual PA, this person would be more of a handler I guess. But their main job will be making sure you keep things under wraps.”
Tom dragged a sleepy hand over his face, it had been a long day and all he wanted to do was lay down. He knew after his most recent slip up on the suppose to be secret second villain in FFH, that Marvel would do something. That’s how him and Harrison ended up in the conference room with his team and a message from Marvels. “So kinda like a babysitter?”
“Not entirely. The thought is that you will each have an earpiece and if a question could lead to a spoiler, they just feed you either a vague answer or a way to change the subject.” Matt looked over the paper he had, a contract ready for if Tom agreed. “Look man, we understand that it’s not something you’re doing on purpose. This shit is big, and it can be hard not to share it. But Marvel has put their foot down, even Mark is getting someone. You only have to see them at interviews and promos, and you and Harrison can choose who it is. It’s either this or Marvel takes you off promo and I really don’t want that. They want as much of A4 to be kept secret as possible.”
Tom glanced at Harrison, who hadn’t said much since the meeting started. His lips tugged down a little, and his eyebrows raised as he shrugged. “I mean, as long as I’m not out of a job I don’t mind.”
“Alright. Okay. I guess it does make sense. This movie is bigger than the last, so I get it.”
“Awesome. Awesome. Okay, so would you be up to interviewing potentials tomorrow? If not we can postpone it.” Matt didn’t even try to hide his relief. But Tom understood it was important for both of them for him to agree to this.
“I wanna sleep till noon, so later in the day would be good.”
“Perfect.” And with that, the meeting was over and Tom and Harrison practically booked it home.
In what felt like only a few hours, they were back in that conference room, this time Matt was on the same side. He had picked five potential people to interview, and five more set aside as back up. The first two seemed like strong candidates, but one was a college fratter who wanted to use it to get chicks, and the other was a girl who slipped up and said she was only doing this to get avengers spoilers for herself.
“Matt, man, you gotta vet these people better.” Tom joked as Matt’s head hung low.
“They seemed fine on paper. I guess you can’t judge a person's intent by their resume. Hopefully the pattern breaks because I think this girl might be the one. She’s got a BA in Public Relations and came highly reconnected by Roberts people.” He presses the button on the intercom. “Send in Ms. Y/L/N please.”
There was a soft tap on the door, and the moment you walked in, Tom and Harrison’s jaws dropped. Maybe it was the way your Y/EC made eye contact with them both, or how your Y/HC was tight from your face showing off your features, or how you nervously worked your lip between your teeth, but both boys were instantly smitten.
“Uh, good afternoon.” You stick a hand out to Matt first, then Tom and Harrison. “I’m Y/N Y/LN.” The boys both shook your hand, surprised by how soft your hands were but how firm your shake was.
“It’s lovely to have you here.” Tom spoke up. “Really we just have a few questions for you.” Matt glanced over at Tom, not entirely surprised he was taking control of the interview with a pretty girl. You nodded, nervous at how absolutely breathtaking Tom AND Harrison were in person and hoping that it wasn’t written all over your face. Tom slipped the paper from Matt, reading over the first question. “What’s your background in public relations?”
Simple enough. “I started out small, helping at different companies, then eventually found my way to the helping bigger names. I’ve worked a bit with stars from Sherlock Holmes, Ladybird, and Coco. Mostly I worked with planning questions and making sure everyone got where they needed to go.”
Tom and Harrison both nodded along as you spoke, Harrison glanced at the paper and asked the next question. “What made you interested in this particular job opening?” His blue eyes locked on yours, his interest in you was all over his face.
“I want to broaden my experience, also, I want to work with actors a bit closer to my age for a while.”
“How old are you?” Tom asked without thinking.
“Just turned 23 a month ago.”
Tom was going off script now, but like his best mate, he was also very interested in you. “What hours would you be willing to work?”
The question took you by surprise. You were under the impression that you would only be needed for interviews and other promotional events. “Oh, I can be on call whenever needed.”
Tom looked at Harrison, it seemed like they and an entire conversation without speaking, after a bit they nodded. Tom leaned over to Matt, whispering to him. Suddenly your nerves skyrocketed. You hands started to get clammy, your body felt like you had one too many shots of espresso. Everything seemed to be going good, but your mind started racing thinking the worst. But then, Tom looked over at you and smiled.
 “You’re hired.”
                                          *five months later*
“Thomas Stanley Holland! You have 10 minutes before we are going to be LATE!” You yelled from the bottom of the stairs. The day was jam packed with interviews and promotional stuff for Avengers and the three of you should have been out the door twenty minutes ago.  “Harrison! Get your friends ass in gear!” You stomped back into the kitchen, refilling your coffee and listening to the sound of feet running down the steps.
“What’s the rush, love?” Tom smirked, knowing exactly how stressed you get when you guys are late. You pointed a finger at him, shaking your head. “Aw thanks.” He said, taking the coffee from your hand and taking a drink.
“Uh, excuse you. No. Either get your own or have someone,” you look at Harrison, “get you some coffee.” You turned on your toes facing both boys fully. “But, your slow ass took too long so you’ll have to wait till we get to the interviews. Now. Lets. Go.”
Thirty minutes later, your coffee was empty (thanks to Tom), and the three of you were practically running to the room where the interviews were going to be held. Digging in your bag, you pulled out the earpiece you and Tom had to wear, handing him his and pushing him to the chair.
“So sorry I’m late, mate. Traffic was horrid.” Tom lied as he shook hands with the interviewer.
“No worries man. We were a bit late ourselves. Let’s get started.”
A few hours later, the three of you were sat in a nook in one of the rooms eating a quick lunch.
“Y/N.” Tom wined, laying his head on your shoulder. Soon after you started you realized just how cuddly both boy could get, Tom was worse on long days like this. “How many more?”
You opened your phone, scrolling through the email from the team with the schedule. “Uh, Robert will be here soon to do three interviews with you. Then you get an hour and a half break and will join Pratt and Karen for two interviews. Theeeeen you’re with Benedict for the last two.” You felt Tom’s breath fan your face as he sighed. “I know, I know. I’ve got pizzas scheduled to be at the house when we return.”
“Also, mate, I picked up some beer when we went to the store.” He poked each of you with a foot under the table.
Tom returned the poke to Harrison, and kissed your cheek. “You guys are the best.”
There was a knock on the wall before you could respond, secretly thankful because of the butterflies that had appeared in your stomach. It was Robert, leaning there watching with a soft smile on his face. “Hey there kiddos, ready?”
Surprisingly, you didn’t have to correct him much throughout the day. Mostly just a well timed cough or throat clearing was enough for him to understand and flip the questions. By the time everything was finished it was well after 9:30 and you had to push the pizza back so it didn't get to the house before you.
“Carry me daring.” Tom went limp against you, causing you to lose your balance. Before you could hit the ground, a strong arm was around your waist holding you up.
“Tom you div. Are you trying to kill the only person who keeps our shit in line?” Harrison tightened his grip a little, turning to look at you. “You okay?
“Yeah, I’m fine. Let’s get you boys home though. It’s been a long day.”
Tom fell asleep on the way home, resulting in some Instagram stores he was bound to kill you guys for. By the time you go to the boys shared house, it was obvious that you and Haz were equally as sleepy. Silently, the three of you some pizza, and after your fair share, you decided it was time for you to go home.
“No, it’s late and your tired. It’s not safe for you to drive.” Tom reached for your hand, his cold from his second beer he had been holding.
Harrison joined in on the fight to get you to stay. “Right. You can sleep in the guest room as always.”
“Boys. I want to sleep in my own bed, at my own house.” You rolled your neck. After relaxing a little the exhaustion from the day was making your body feel slow.
Harrison walked behind you, his strong hands rubbing your shoulders right where the tension was causing you to close your eyes and groan. “Y/N. Just stay.”
“Alright, but I want another beer.” You could hear Tom pop the top and stuck your hand out waiting.
“Here you are. Have as many as you’d like. Let loose.”
You took a sip, Harrison’s hands felt like heaven working out the knots. “There isn’t any events for a few more days, so what the hell.” Then you downed the beer.
——
“Wait, wait. You actually went streaking through your college campus?” Harrison was giggling, trying to picture you running down the road stark naked. The three of you had finished off about three beers each, enough for the buzz to mix smoothly with the sleepy feeling. You were all sitting on the floor still snacking on the pizzas, the conversation somehow going to embarrassing stories.
“Yes. I lost a bet, I had to!” You covered your face with your hands.
“It’s okay, Harrison here had to run past the office of one of our lead teachers naked as a dare.” Tom laughed. “His face was so red when he came back and Mr. F had been home.”
“Oii shut it!” Haz hit Tom with a pillow.
You giggled a bit, rubbing your eyes. “Alright. ‘m sleepy. I think I’m going to go to bed.” You went to stand, but the alcohol mixed with hardly being able to keep your eyes opened knocked you right back on your butt. “Oof.”
“Here, we’ll help.” Tom stood, followed by Haz. Both boys helped you up with ease, leading you to the guest room you had stayed in many nights before.
You were well past the point of being awake enough to control your mouth, which resulted in a slightly awkward confession to slip. “Would you boys like to know a secret?” You asked when they sat you on the bed.
“Go for it.” Tom answered, looking at the other with a smirk at just how tired you were.
“You both are hot. Like, ooo mama, really fucking hot.” You moved yourself to the pillow, completely unaware of the shocked faces staring at you. “Hmmm. Goodnight boys.”
“Did that just happen?” Harrison whispered when they were out in the hall.
Tom nodded, closing your door as quietly as he could. “I mean, we can’t really say much, we have both had the hots for her since we saw her.” Harrison nodded and shrugged waving a good night as the boys separated to their own rooms.
The next morning you woke up with a slight hangover and couldn’t remember if you had fallen asleep in the bed or if the boys brought you up here. The smell of pancakes filled the air and you reluctantly left the warmth.
“Good morning princess.” Tom greeted from behind an extended coffee mug. Harrison was making breakfast and greeted you with a smile.
“Uhm I’m not so sure about that. Did I fall asleep on the couch?” You took a long sip of the coffee, waiting for an answer. Tom and Harrison just shared a look.
“You don’t remember us walking you to your room?” Tom asked with a raised eyebrow. A small smirk played at his lips.
“No.” You looked between the two boys. “Oh no. Did I do something embarrassing?”
“Depends on your definition of embarrassing, love.” Harrison’s voice was close, and you jumped as he placed a plate of pancakes in front of you. “If telling us we are hot ‘like oooo mama so fucking hot’ hot, is embarrassing. Then yes. Yes you did.”
You groan. Face instantly heating as you covered it with both your hands. “Please forget that. Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen okay. Oh my god. I should go.” You went to stand but before you could get anywhere both boys were at your side.
Harrison started talking first. “Hey. It’s fine. I mean we know we’re hot. But.”
“We think you’re pretty hot too.” Tom finished. They both leaned in, each kissing a cheek causing you to yip in surprise. “We’re going to the gym. Enjoy breakfast.” They each pecked a cheek again, then walked away collecting their gym bags and leaving.
You were too embarrassed to eat. You sat there trying to collect yourself for a few minutes before gathering your things and going home. Admittedly, but only to yourself, you had a crush both Tom and Haz. You didn’t think you would ever tell them though, but your tired half drunk mind clearly had different plans. Their reactions were what took you off guard, them saying they thought you were hot too, and kissing you? Were they just picking on you? Or was it serious?
Either way, you avoided them for a few days, which was a little weird because you normally saw them almost every day. They had texted and called you, but every time their names popped up you would remember that happened and not respond. When it came time for the next round of promo, you met them at the venue instead of picking them up.
“Long time no see.” Tom smiled as he wrapped an arm around you. “Where you been?” The circles under his eyes were darker than normal.
“Just out and about doing work.” You shrugged, pulling your compact out and trying to cover his under eyes.
He smiled weakly. “We missed you around the house. Haz is good company but it’s a bit lonesome without your laugh there.”
“Tom.” You groan, closing your eyes for a moment. “Please stop poking fun at me. I didn’t mean to say it.”
“I’m not poking, love.” He reached in your bag, kissing your forehead along the way, and grabbed the ear piece. Before you could respond he was walking toward the room and you could only follow.
The first interview went well, the first two would only be Tom so you had to be extra aware of the questions, the rest were with a few of the cast members, and they always help keep him in line. Harrison stayed near the back, his eyes watching you as you paid close attention and followed along with the list of questions you had been given. He moved closer when the second interview started. Standing elbow to elbow with you.
(A/N: this part is inspired by @madmadmilk response to my message about this idea. It’s mostly smut from here down)
“Ya know, he’s been a bit of a mess since you haven’t spoken to us.” His voice was soft so no one could hear. “He’s had a tough time sleeping, and won’t stop worrying about you.” You gawked at him, mouth open as he locked eyes with you. A wildly inappropriate thought (and not for the first time) ran through his head. “What? It’s true. He thought everything was fucked up. That you were going to quit.”
“I mean, I fucked up.” You replied, hand over the earpiece to block your voice from Tom. “I shouldn’t have said what I said. But I won’t quit unless you guys want me to.”
Harrison took a step forward. His icy blue eyes filled with unreadable emotion. “No. We are happy you said it. It put an end to our wondering.”
What? Your brows scrunched together as you tried to process what he said. “What ‘wondering’?”
Still he stepped closer, his breath warm on your face. “Oh, Y/N. We have both had massive crushes on you since you walked through the door at the interview.” He reached a hand up and pushed a piece of hair out of your face. “Follow me.” Your mouth opened to object, but Harrison placed a finger over his lips and grabbed your hand. You followed him to a dark corner. Your heart was beating so fast you were sure he could hear it. “Want to know how serious we are about you?” His voice was suddenly rough in your ear and all you could do was nod. “Alright, then be quiet.” He added with a nip at your ear.
With one hand he turned you around to face the room. Thankfully there were only four people, counting Tom, in the area you had just left and there was a curtain blocking the area a bit. Before you could question what was happening, one of Harrison’s hands was under your shirt gripping your waist and the other was moving your hair off your neck. “Y/N. You truly are so beautiful.” And with that he pressed his lips on your neck, working up and down the sensitivity skin. Your knees buckled at the feeling, having gone an embarrassingly long time without this sort of contact. Not to mention maybe a few dream similar to this.
“Ya know. When we left that interview with you, Tom and I went home and almost fought over who would get to take you out first.” His hand under your shirt roamed your torso, slowly rubbing over the fabric of your bra, then back down to dip just a little under the waistband of your pants. Your entire body was alive, every movement of his hand, and every syllable or kiss from his lips sent a new wave of shivers over your body. Suddenly Harrison stopped all movement, his head coming around to view. “You alright there, love? If you want me to st-”
 “Don’t.”
It was like that word opened up the floodgates. His lips were on your neck again with a new kind of passion. Both hands started roaming your body. “You wanna know what we agreed on?” He held you against him with one hand flat on your belly, the other slowly slid under your pants and panties. All you could do was nod. His hand was extremely close to the place you so desperately needed it and you didn’t trust your voice. As his fingers finally made contact with your clit, he whispered in your ear. “We decided to share.”
You were a goner. The feeling of Harrison’s fingers slipping in and out of you, changing the pressure he put on your clit, plus the confession and his lips working your neck. You didn’t even think you were still there. It was almost too much, but not enough. You were close, it had been so long since someone had touched you this way that you couldn’t take much more.
“It’s so funny,” Harrison’s scratchy whisper was back at your ear, hands still working you closer and closer. “We have been trying for months to find out if you liked even one of us.” He curled his fingers in you, causing you to bite your lip to muffle a moan in the quiet room. “I think about you a lot, and I know Tom does too, I’ve heard him.” Your eyes flutter closed, but Harrison slows down. “Do you want me to stop princess?”
“No, no, don’t stop.” You moved your hips against him. Just as you said it, the voice in your ear snaps you back.
“Uh, yeah well we actually come back because of Captain Marvel, she's really badass and was able to kill-“
Shit! You grabbed Harrison’s wrist, pulling it away, adjusted yourself quickly, and before Tom could say anymore you shouted “NO! Sorry! Shit. The earpiece is malfunctioning. Uh, you guys are going to have to delete all that.”/
Toms confused face quickly changed to shock when he looked back to where you had come from. Making eye contact with his best friend as he licked his fingers and winked. Toms eyes darted from Harrison back to you, watching you personally watch them delete that segment of video, then back to Harrison.
Once the video was set, and the paper stating that it was deleted was signed, the interview continued. Tom on the other hand, was incredibly distracted by all the thought of what was going on that had you distracted. Harrison made his way back to your side, offering you a cup of coffee and a smirk. “Meet me in the bathroom when the next interview starts.”
The next interview started almost immediately, Sebastian Stan and Tom Hiddleston were seated the moment the interviewed switched. This meant Tom didn’t have a chance to talk to you. You on the other hand, were still reeling in a mix of energy from the ghost feeling of Harrison’s hands, to the thought of losing your job because of the slip up. A few minutes after the interview began, you slipped out of the room. You trusted Hiddleston and Seb enough with Tom that you didn’t worry much about leaving.
You booked it to the bathroom. Ready to give Harrison a piece of your mind about that dangerous little stunt. But the moment you opened the door, Harrison had you pinned to it and his lips were on yours. “Harrison.” You grunt, hitting his shoulders. His hips rolled into you, stopping any word from forming as you felt just how needy he was.
“I’ve wanted this for so long.” He kissed down your neck, then back to your lips. “So long. Y/N.” You moaned at how he practically whined your name, helping you found your voice, and your confidence.
“What do you want, Hazzy.” Your hand moved to palm him over his pants and he actually whimpered.
“Want to be inside you.” He practically moaned as you worked him still.
Little to either of your knowledge, lost in your own world, Tom could hear everything. His face grew warm, and his pants grew tight. It was almost impossible for him to focus on the questions.
Slowly, you unbuttoned Harrison’s pants, pushing them and his boxers to the floor and wrapping your hand around him. This time his knees buckled and he went flat against you. “Oh. Oh my god.” His hips buckled into your hand. “Y/N. Stop. Stop. I want to feel you.” He pushes himself up with a hand on either side of your head as you removed your hand. You reached forward, kissing him again as he removed your pants and set you on the edge of the counter.
“Mmm.” He hummed, running a finger through your folds once more. “Still so wet for me.” (Tom almost choked.) He reached into his pants pulling a condom from his wallet and slipping it on. “I’m going to be honest. I don’t know how long I will last.” He stepped eye to eye with you.
“Just fuck me Harrison.” You were well past feeling uneasy about this, you just needed some relief. Harrison stepped closer, catching your lips with his as he rubbed the head of his cock in your wetness before slowly pushing in. You both moaned into each other’s mouths as he slowly bottomed out giveing you a chance to adjust. “Move. Please move.” And he did. Slow still at first, but picking up as you moaned more.
Tom was on the verge of almost dying. Hearing absolutely everything this time. He had long forgotten the interview questions, allowing Hiddleston and Seb to answer them. He was just about to lose it when you remembered the ear piece.
“Oh, Tom. Yes.” You moaned, giggling a little at Harrison’s reaction before you pointed to your ear. Harrison’s thrusted harder, earning another moan from you “Toooom. Fuck.”
“I’m sorry guys. I’m not feeling well.” Tom interpreted the question.
“Yeah, you don’t look very well either. You want some help to the bathroom?” Seb asked, looking very concerned at the pale sweaty boy beside him.
 “Fuck, Harrison. Yes.”
“No. Thanks though I think I can make it. Again I’m so sorry.” Is apologized again as he ran out the door. “Y/N. Where the fuck are you?” Tom’s voice spilled through your ear, dripping with as much need as Harrison’s was moment earlier.
“Ahh. The bathroom in the. Oh. Very back.” You answered between moans.
Within moments Tom’s voice was heard in your ear and behind the door. “Let me in.”
The moment Harrison unlocked the door, Tom was inside with it locked again. He couldn’t move, the image of you on the counter. His best mate still fucking you, and the threat to cream his pants at the sight kept him from moving.
“Do you boys think we can make it home? Or should we just finished here.” Your chin was resting on Harrison’s shoulder, eyes locked with Tom, slight moans still leaving your lips at the slower pace Haz was now going.
“I’m too close love.” Harrison sped up again and you moaned loud. Tom’s hand had found its way into his pants. Still unable to look away from the two of you.
“Oh. Tommy, come her-ah-re.” You motioned for him with a finger. He found his feet, stepping the short distance beside you. “Kiss me.” As your lips met, your hand went down to take over pumping him slowly, earning a deep moan.
Harrison lost it. Watching your hand around Tom while he was inside you was too much. “Y/N. Shit shit. I’m going to cum.” You moved a bit giving him a different feeling of pleasure as you moved to kiss him. “Cum for me Hazzy.”
“Oh, fuuuuuck.” He twitched for a few moments before resting his head on your shoulder as he slowly came down from his high. “Oh my god. Fuck.” He kisses your shoulder. Then looked back, kissing your lips. “That was. Wow.” He gave you one more kiss and nodded at Tom before stepping aside to clean himself up.
“Your turn Tommy.” In seconds, his pants were gone, a condom was on, and he was inside you. He was a bit thicker than Harrison, so you gasped as he didn’t even wait, just started moving in and out. “Oh. My. God.” You gasped between thrusts. Tom sucked your neck, right behind your ear. Then used his hands to reach under your shirt to cup your breast.
“Fuck. Y/N. You have no idea how bad I’ve wanted this.” He pulled you closer, just enough to almost be off the counter.
You let out another moan at the change in everything. “So I’ve heard. I've wanted it too. From both of you.”
His thrust got harder as he moaned your name. “I’m close. Fuck. Harrison. Wanna give princess here a hand.”
Without a word, Harrison came over and his hand was on your clit rubbing hard fast circles.
“Oh my fuck. Fuck. Tom, shiiiit Haz.” Each boy had their lips on you. Harrison kissing and licking down as far as your shirt would allow, and Tom leaving hickies up and down your neck. The feeling of both of them touching you sent you absolutely wild. “I’m close. I’m so close.”
“Come for us princess.” They both said, sending chills down your spin as your entire body vibrated with your orgasim. You clinched around Tom, sending him over the edge as well.
“Fuufuck.” You rode out your high as Harrison softly kissed your cheek and smoothed your hair. It took a moment for Tom to regain himself, and you winced a bit as he pulled out. “Let’s get you cleaned up and get home. I’m feeling a nap and a bit more fun tonight.” He kisses your lips and both boys helped you get cleaned up and dressed.
“I guess embarrassing myself wasn’t all that bad.” You laughed as the three of you made your way to the car.
 “Not in the slightest, love.”

OUT IN THE WILD, WILD WEST LOOP...
Tumblr media
THERE’S A LOT OF GOLD TO BE FOUND. In the form of pizza, pasta, tacos, booze, and everything good that’s bad for you. The Randolph Street area west of the highway that runs next to Chicago is becoming ~the~ place for dinner plans and Friday night dates as it’s being transformed from warehouse valley to an up-and-coming Broadway of food, which is great news for the whole city.
While I’m fairly certain not even the most extreme foodie has been able to eat at every single place in Chicago, it’s easy to find your favorites and settle into choosing from them versus really exploring a new section of the city. West Randolph has created a whole new division of restaurants and bars to float around and honestly they’re all hits; no where on this street is a flop and it’s such an aesthetically pretty area to be day or night. There’s the view of the entire skyline on one side, and then old, gorgeous brick building refurbished and repainted lining both sides of the street. Since this used to be a heavy factory/ storage area, there are still a lot of untouched lots which adds an old-Chicago vibe that O’Leary’s cow could probably fit right into, but with all the patios and twinkly lights spilling onto the sidewalks the restaurants really nailed the shabby-chic look.
Over the past eight months or so I’ve eaten my way through Randolph Street because every restaurant looks better than the last, and I can honestly say I love nothing more than dressing up a little and getting an early dinner somewhere new and cute to sit in for hours, and if I’m with my best friends or my family?!? OVER THE MOON. A good 6 p.m. dinner followed by wandering around the city in search of a night cap or a verrryyyy chocolaty dessert? PAST THE MOON AND TO JUPITER. My life philosophy is that the best moments are spent around food and loved ones, and that happiness really is that simple... which is why every weekend I go home to my family where we all love to eat out in Evanston and then get ice cream anywhere because we don’t keep treats in the house (since we all entirely lack self control) and dessert is a nightly “congrats” for getting through the day. But sometimes they want to come into the city and that’s when it’s my turn to find the top-notch noshes!
Should you need a date night idea or somewhere to bring your best friend/family for a birthday dinner, here are some golden nuggets along West Randy.
Tumblr media
1. Formento’s
I came across Formento’s on Instagram one million times before ever making it there as they are one of the restaurants that caught onto the “cacio e pepe” pasta trend before the rest of the city did, and the boomerangs of a soft egg yolk breaking over thick, peppery noodles haunted my dreams for weeks. When my girl Luzi asked where we wanted to get dinner one night over the summer when it was a perfect, breezy evening I didn’t even hesitate to suggest Formento’s- with a beautiful and lush patio and a menu packed with drool-worthy food, and she was like “Yes, duh”, so off we went! The waiter was a quirky gal full of suggestions and more than willing to walk us through the menu which is somewhat tapas style and an “encouraged to share” type thing, which always makes me a little anxious but all my brain could think was “cacio e pepe cacio e pepe cacio e pepe” so somehow along the way we also ordered olives and a kale salad but I barely remember those. The olives were marinated and served slightly warm, and they brought us bread thick with rosemary and garlic and wowie it was good enough to be a meal on it’s own. I would love to go back and try the burrata and the lump crab toast, but this place is more of a treat-yourself night out place than a drop in for a casual $50 dinner place so I’m biding my time for an event to celebrate there!
The pasta finally arrived after we had to move inside post surprise thunderstorm, and in the glow of candles and dim, sexytime lighting I met my love. A perfect swirl of al dente bucatini tossed in a light cream & cheese sauce spotted with freshly cracked pepper, and then an egg yolk perfectly contained and sitting on top like a fucking queen was almost too much to handle. I cracked the yolk and damn, this was one of those moments I wish my eyeballs had a camera built in because I was too engrossed in it to capture it on video.
Tumblr media
This pasta was exactly as good as I wanted it to be and how Instagram made it look, and we all know Instagram is a catfish playground and with all the fuckin gross food going viral because of it you can never quite trust it... but this was good, tried & true. I’m thinking graduation round 2 dinner might be here in the spring... hmmmm.
Oh and the wine menu is dope as well, any nice red would pair well with the spicy + flavorful appetizers and the freshness of the pasta selection.
Tumblr media
2. De Cero (slash) Hello Tacos!
Ok so the name of this restaurant still confuses me as it used to be De Cero and then they changed it to Hello Tacos! but both show up if you Google it... I promise it’s the same place. This was sooo the shocker of my summer because I was taken against my will to get tacos with my family after a nine hour bus ride from Nashville back to Chicago, and I wanted to shower and curl up in a clean, controlled environment for like five hours before entering the world again but the parents were hungry. And they were kind enough to drive downtown to pick me up, so to turn down a nice dinner out would have just been rude and extremely stupid. So off we went in search of something tasty and my dad suggested De Cero, which we walked into and instantly fell in love with. Even though I smelled like an actual dumpster (the Megabus is not a glamorous way of transit, but I love it) I was instantly coated by the scent of fresh tortilla chips, smoky spices, and freshly sliced lime. We sat down in a cozy wooden booth under a wall of beautiful quilts and were immediately offered a drink (their flavored margaritas are DELICIOUS) and told to pick 3 (!!!) salsas from their list of options. As someone who believes in coating everything I eat in like sixteen sauces, getting to pick three salsas and receiving huge bowls of them was absolute heaven.  We got the Warm Chipotle which is for sure my favorite, imagine just a heavy, garlicky red salsa that’s delightfully toasty, the Tomatillo Lime Verde, and the Pico de Gallo. Later when I came back with a friend (legitimately one week later), I changed out the Pico for the Mango Habanero and it was incredible. I hate mango with every inch of my body, but in the way they marinated and treated the salsa it looses the tropical zing and is just really moist and sweet. All of these salsas? BOMB.COM. Exceptionally flavorful, and more than enough to bring home with you after.
For dinner, my dad and I got the Grilled Mahi Mahi tacos and HOLY GUACAMOLE THEY WERE FAB. The most succulent, meaty fish fillets dripping with marinate and then topped with an asparagus compote and then doused in avocado puree, all in a corn tortilla that can barely support the weight. These tacos were some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had, and when I went back with my friend I tested my “was it good or was I starving” test by getting the exact same thing, and loved them all over again. Go check this place out, it’s cozy and adorable and offers epic Mexican cuisine!!
Tumblr media
3. Bar Siena
This might be my favorite spot on the street so far, but it also has the most options and isn’t too crazily priced so that could be a big factor! Bar Siena sits on a corner a little further down Randolph and is the perfect mix of upscale-bar and classy Italian, with a giant light-up tree in the middle growing up through the second floor that offers scenic seating of the skyline and the rest of Randy. With a menu bursting with wood fired pizza, pasta, antipasta, cheeses, and OF COURSE some fancy as heck cocktails, it’s really really really hard to decide what you want for dinner. Yet, because I’m me, both times I’ve been there I’ve ordered the same entree. Some highlights on the menu (a mix of mine and those I’ve dined with who eat meat) include:
- Roasted Meatballs: IF I COULD EAT THESE, I WOULD. They come in a little dish of sauces, cheese, and with garlic bread on the side. Oh hellll yes.
- Burrata: This is the best burrata I’ve ever had. On crispy toast with thick, creamy burrata and apricot jam, topped with sea salt and some crunchy nuts, it’s a 10/10 combo. Get it.
- Kale & Granny Smith Salad: It’s a good, simple salad that’s light and refreshing with so much hearty food.
- The Prosciutto-Fig Pizza: IF I WAS A PIZZA, THIS WOULD BE ME. Even without the meat the spiced pistachio, truffle honey, and cheese on top of a perfectly baked white pizza is indulgently delicious. If I ever became a stripper, my name would be Truffle Honey in honor of this pizza.
- Wild Mushroom & Garlic Pizza: Lots of mushrooms, lots of cream and cheese, very good.
- SWEET CORN RAVIOLI: THIS IS IT. THIS IS THE PASTA OF MY DREAMS. CORN RAV STUFFED WITH MORE CORN, SAUCE, TRUFFLE BUTTER, MUSHROOMS, AND GOD’S LOVE.
AND THE WINE LIST IS GREAT TOO.
Y’all don’t skimp on dessert either; Bar Siena is attached to Bombo Bar, the small coffee shop and donut seller on the side with a walk-up window. They have the famed hot chocolate and matcha topped with a coordinating donut, biscotti or cookie, whipped cream, and sprinkles and toppings out the wazoo. They are absolutely crazy but soooo delicious and the hot coco is perfect for a cold winter day when you just want to get out of the house for a small adventure!
Tumblr media
Some other hits along this strip are Soho House, Kaiser Tiger, and Maude’s. Soho House is an ~elite~ club that’s in an ancient, elegant building tucked off on a side street that has a cafe and breakfast nook on the first floor which offers delicious coffee and perfect vibes for writing, reading, and girl’s talk on a rainy afternoon. Kaiser Tiger is a warehouse turned bar that’s open, loud, inviting, and has a unique menu of bratwurst and cheese plates. It’s great for a drink or to grab a nicer bite before heading to the United Center for a game! And Maude’s is somewhere that’s on my wish list- I am DYING to go get a drink in this blue & white dream! The outside is cute as a button and I imagine the inside is even better. I love having places I can’t wait to try out, it keeps this city so fresh!
Until next time, Happy Eating!

Tumblr media
Sam Rockwell, Frances McDormand, Allison Janney, and Gary Oldman
It went off without a hitch!  This year, the Best Picture winner was Guillermo del Toro’s love story from the Black Lagoon, The Shape of Water.  We’re sure.  We checked the envelope.  Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were on hand again this year to present the big award as a do-over from last year’s infamous envelope gaffe.  The Shape of Water was the big winner of the night, picking up four awards: Best Picture, Best Director (Guillermo del Toro), Best Original Score, and Best Production Design.
Tumblr media
Frances McDormand calling the female nominees to rise
The awards were spread around evenly to the Best Picture nominees, with the exception of Lady Bird. Greta Gerwig’s coming of age story set in 2002 Sacramento was nominated for five Oscars, and it did not win any. The people of the Internet are displeased. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won awards for Sam Rockwell as Best Supporting Actor and Frances McDormand as Best Actress.  McDormand gave a rousing speech asking all of the nominated females in all of the categories to stand up and be recognized.  She then challenged the studio heads and production companies to set a meeting with these women to tell their stories.
Tumblr media
Jordan Peele celebrating his Oscar win with presenter Nicole Kidman
Gary Oldman won his first Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.  Oldman received a standing ovation from his peers as he walked to the stage to accept his award.  As is customary, he thanked his wife, his children, and mentioned his mother who will be 99 later this year. One interesting note: Oldman was previously married to another of the night’s nominee’s, Phantom Thread’s Lesley Manville. Allison Janney picked up the award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in I, Tonya, and thanked her avian costar for his help on the film.  Jordan Peele made history as the first African-American to win the award for Best Original Screenplay for his film Get Out.  I will admit, I was hoping that he would accept the film by doing his President Obama impression. Overall, the big prizes of the night went to the frontrunners.  The only surprises were that Icarus won for Best Documentary Feature and Blade Runner 2049 won the award for Best Cinematography.
Tumblr media
Guillermo del Toro
The other big winner of the night was Mexican and South American culture.  The Pixar animated film about Dia de los Muertos, Coco, won awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song (“Remember Me”). Mexican director Guillermo del Toro won the award for Best Director, as well.  The phrase “Viva la Mexico” was uttered more times than in any other Oscar telecast.  The winner of the Best Foreign Language Film was A Fantastic Woman from Chile, the first time Chile has won in this category and only its second nomination. This was Hollywood’s way of telling President Donald Trump where he could stick his wall.
Tumblr media
Helen Mirren on a Jet Ski with costume designer Mark Bridges
Ultimately, the show was a bit of a dud.  Jimmy Kimmel’s opening was bland and safe.  The only thing slightly edgy he said was the Oscar was the perfect man because in a post-Harvey Weinstein Hollywood, a man who can keep his hands to himself and doesn’t have a penis is the best kind of man.  Other than that, it was highly unmemorable.  Throughout the show, things seemed to get progressively worse.  He decided to take a field trip with a group if 10-15 A list stars to the movie theater across the street.  The idea was to show the movie-going public the industry’s appreciation.  Like last year’s tourists who walked into the Dolby Theater, the bit fell flat and lasted far too long.  Kimmel also tried a bit where his 9 year-old self met the cast of Star Wars.  It was the most awkward two minutes of the show.  One ongoing gag that did work was the fact that Kimmel tried to get the night’s winners to keep their acceptance speeches short and sweet by telling them that the shortest speech would receive a Jet Ski.  Helen Mirren even came out to be the Price is Right-esque model and show it off while it spun around on a platform.  The winner of the Jet Ski, Mark Bridges, the costume designer of Phantom Thread with a speech that was 29 seconds long.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The best part of the show was seeing Oscar winners of the past present several of the awards.  1954’s Best Supporting Actress winner for On The Waterfront, Eva Marie Saint presented the award for Best Costume Design, 1961’s Best Supporting Actress winner for West Side Story, Rita Morano (wearing the same dress that she wore to the Oscars when she won in 1962) presented the award for Best Foreign Language Film, and 1978’s Best Supporting Actor winner for The Deer Hunter, Christopher Walken presented the award for Best Original Score.  Due to allegations of sexual harassment, last year’s Best Actor winner, Casey Affleck declined the Academy’s invitation to present the award for Best Actress this year.  Instead, the award for Best Actress was presented by two-time Best Actress winner for The Accused and Silence of the Lambs Jodie Foster and the Best Actress winner for Silver Liniings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence.  Not to be outdone, the Best Actor award was not presented by last year’s winner Emma Stone. It was instead presented by Hollywood royalty Jane Fonda (Best Actress winner for Klute and Coming Home) and Helen Mirren (Best Actress winner for The Queen).  Stone was given the honor of presenting the award for Best Director.
That’s it; I officially declare the 2017/2018 Awards Season closed!  What did you think of the show?  Were you hoping for a surprise ending like last year’s best picture mess-up?  Did you like Jimmy Kimmel?  Weren’t Maya Rudolph and Tiffany Haddish the best part of the show?  Let us know what you think!  Leave us a comment below or contact us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

Quite a bit happened...it was quite the tornado of stuff, as I predicted two posts ago, what with Ludum Dare and everything else happening.  There was even more than I expected thrown into the mix... Ludum Dare Ludum Dare came and went, and despite several hardships along the way, was a huge success for our team! I'll be writing a more detailed post-mortem later, but here are the two (!) games that we ended up making in the 72 hour timeframe: Goodnight Sheep: http://ift.tt/2AfwKw9 Samurai Shaver: http://ift.tt/2Ai9opD The soundtracks for both of those are also available (linked on those pages). Even before it started, it already felt like things might be rough for Ludum Dare, as our writer fell ill that week and wasn't feeling well enough to work together with us.  We decided she should take it easy and help us out remotely instead (which also left me with an abundance of extra groceries in stock, haha).  I actually also wasn't feeling the best that Friday either, though thankfully I didn't end up coming down with anything.  Trying to communicate back and forth over chat and video calls was a real challenge and we really struggled to nail down the concept and gameplay behind Goodnight Sheep as a result of that. Halfway through finishing up Goodnight Sheep we actually decided to start work on Samurai Shaver and just start making that.  Although there were a lot of things that we still needed to figure out about Samurai Shaver still (initially it wasn't even a rhythm game at all!), I personally felt like I had a pretty good vision of what the game should look and feel like, so it felt more certain to me, and I was looking forward to escaping the uncertainty of the screaming lambs to work on something a little more well understood.  However I still wanted to finish up some work on Goodnight Sheep before that, including making the music for the levels, and it was during that process that I made some key realizations about what the game should be like.  So in the end it all ended up coming together just fine -- it just needed some more time to get there. We were about a third of the way through our 72 hours when we decided to start work on Samurai Shaver, which put us quite far behind, but interestingly enough I felt very confident that we could finish it in time.  I knew it was a fairly simple game and we didn't need to make a ton of different assets and such (as we did for games like The Music Box).  And of course, I had a pretty clear vision for the game, as well.  But perhaps the primary reason that I was so confident was because back in Ludum Dare 36 we had also started just as late when we made Watch for Falling Rocks (we totally scrapped our initial idea and started over).  Now that we've done the whole "start a game really late and still finish fine" thing twice, I feel like that will always be a sort of possible "plan B" for us moving forward if our initial concepts don't work out.  Obviously that's not the kind of thing I'd like to rely on, but I think it's a bit comforting to know that because thinking up an initial idea for a game is often one of the most stressful parts of the jam. Anyhow, I'm quite happy with how both games turned out.  Currently we're a good ways into the rating and voting process, with a little over a week left before results are announced.  I've been playing my fair share of games (around 40 so far), and we've gotten around 30 ratings for each of our games. Meowmie Early in the morning on Saturday December 9th, we were woken up to news that the one and only original Meowmie had suffered from heart problems over the night and wasn't going to make it.  We were able to say our final goodbyes before he was put to rest.  It was very hard on us and there was definitely a bit of a crying party that day.  Though I was not his owner, I felt very deeply for the loss, more deeply than I realized that I would, too.  It was a new experience for me as well, since I have never had a pet or anything leave me in that way.  Though it still makes me very sad to think that Meowmie is not around anymore, and the image I have in my mind of him from that day really affects me deeply, I am very thankful for the fact that I was able to see him one last time.  Rest in peace, Meowmie.  You will always be special.  (Thank you) Work Work went through a pretty busy period, as we were getting out another demo of our game for PlayStation Experience (PSX) -- more about that here.  Btw, as an aside, I don't know if I've ever mentioned here that Luna has been out now, both for VR (the true Luna experience) and as a 2D port version for those of us who don't have access to a VR headset.  Find that here. Anyhow, work went through a busy period for sure and I basically had infinity work to do, but I think I managed alright, though there was one day where I had not gotten enough sleep at all and was suuuuuper grumpy as a result.  Funnily enough, once the amount of tasks crosses a threshold, I feel like it doesn't really matter how many other work items there are because I know I won't get to them all, so I just sort of chug along at whatever pace I end up going at and whatever will be, will be. After that, work has been really strange as we are in the middle of transitioning to a new office (heating?? A/C??  More than one restroom maybe?? what is this madness?  Maybe the floor won't be slanted either?).  The new place is ever so slightly closer in terms of walking distance from the station, but also just in a much nicer area (right across from Dropbox).  I haven't seen it in person yet, but should be exciting to have a nicer office, and I'm sure it will make it easier for my cooking-lunch-at-the-office escapades as well.  Maybe I need to start bringing in a portable burner?? lololol Anyhow, I'm on vacation now for the next two weeks (much needed) and definitely enjoying some time off to myself.  Should be useful to catch up on a bunch of things after that super crazy busy period that I had (haven't done any work on Rhythm Quest; want to still do more for our Ludum Dare games; have some music I need to write, etc), but also just to chill out and relax. Games I went through the bonus content of VA-11 HALL-A, so that's all finished up with (don't think I'll bother replaying the main story again, though there is a bit more to experience there).  I've moved on for now -- I just started playing through Cave Story!  Actually playing the remastered Cave Story+ version since apparently I have it on Steam already, but after some careful thinking I decided I'll go with the original sprites/graphics and original soundtrack.  Well...ah, who are we kidding, it wasn't exactly a tough choice.  I appreciate the fact that they took the time to remaster it and everything, but sometimes the original has a certain appeal that is diluted with additional modifications and I personally feel that way about this.  Though, if I was already familiar with the entire soundtrack (I'm not) I think the new soundtrack would be a nice change of pace, so that is something. Other than that, Finding Paradise (the sequel to To The Moon) is out now!  Haven't gotten it yet, but I'm sure I will be going through it at some point.  I wasn't 100% sure what to expect, but apparently Kan Gao himself says the game is "utterly, disgustingly terrible", so now I know exactly what to expect!  (I'm sure it'll exceed expectations, hooray!)  It's all a bit tongue-in-cheek, but to be honest, perhaps it was really warranted after all, because I went into Rakuen expecting a lot out of it and came out disappointed.  So maybe I'll temper my expectations this time.  Though to be honest, how could you not get hyped after THIS trailer???  Hahaha. Besides that, we are making our way through Secret of Mana still (just finished up Ice Country), and have taken a bit of a break on Life Is Strange (but will pick it up again I'm sure).  My brother also came over and we raced through Mega Man 1 through Mega Man 4, which was a blast.  I had a bunch of problems and lost most of those races but was way ahead for Mega Man 3 (also the one that I played the most as a child), so woot.  Mega Man 5 and 6 will probably be real challenges for both of us as we're really unfamiliar with those -- I think I've only finished each of them once... Started playing a bit of Hollow Knight, but unsure exactly what I'll do with that one as I think I want to actually just go through Cave Story first.  It still looks like quite a fine game, but perhaps not as unique or special. Dance Not too much of note here as dance events are sort of on break for the end of the year.  A little birdie told me that Unjammix might actually be happening again sometime, so that is super duper exciting!  Also, it's getting to be a few months before Viennese Ball again, so probably sometime next month it'll be time to whip out my Journey dress and add on the final layers so I can be a fully-embroidered red cloak.  So cool that this costume has been evolving along with me over the past 4 years!!! The last Jammix of the year was not too notable and actually was pretty low-energy for me, but I did end up connecting with someone unexpectedly, which was quite nice. Anime Was skimping on Inuyasha for a while but finally watched another episode, hahaha.  But more notable than that, I watched "The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl" (by the same director and writer as Tatami Galaxy), which I enjoyed a lot!  I've watched a handful of other things in recent months too actually, including A Silent Voice (good) and most notably, The Case of Hana & Alice, which I really loved!  Quite an unusual movie I think, but it's really good, really fun, really well-done.  Currently also watching Evangelion (the series), which I watched most of before (but not all?) but largely forgot about.  Have not watched any movies recently -- haven't yet gone to go see Coco or Star Wars... Xmas Xmas stuff is coming along well!  Like I keep on saying, I still have some DIY gifts to handle, but other than that, everything is pretty much squared away.  It took a lot of work but all the letters and stuff are mailed out and all the gifts are wrapped (and some shipped).  I still have to go on my Santa delivery runs at some point this week but that should be fine :) Cooking Have been trying to make Shui Zhu Yi recently (the sichuan boiled fish dish) to varying degrees of success...I'm finding it quite a difficult dish to get right since there are so many factors, like type of fish, everything that goes into the liquid, the different spices, etc.  I think I am getting closer, and definitely am learning more about what to do and what to avoid, but I'm not nearly there yet.  We'll see. Melee Melee stuff has been good recently; I've been feeling a lot of confidence as Marth especially when I am doing crazy stuff like getting pivot grabs and stuff like that.  I haven't really paid much attention to my Fox but I am trying to grind out some stuff with Falco because my Falco definitely needs some work on tech and punishes, so trying to get better with that.  I'm feeling increasingly comfortable with Falcon but am still figuring out how to place my aerials to go for reads on techchases and how to place moves correctly to combo well.  Perhaps the most exciting development is that I am finally starting to "get" Sheik for the first time, as I'm dedicating some time to learning her as a character.  Like Falcon, she feels really weird in neutral to me, and I had to adjust to learning how to boost grab instead of jc grab (feels really weird....also really weird that you don't =always= boost grab, so you have to do it situationally), but I think my experience with all the others characters (esp Falcon) is helping me understand it more and I feel like I am starting to get a handle on her, which is great since I've always wanted to learn her as a character.  I'm going to try and work that up to par for a while before moving onto Peach, which will require a lot more grinding of techskill since she's a whole other animal. Overall life is in a pretty good spot right now; it's nice to be on vacation finally and to feel like I'm on top of things now instead of juggling around a million different things at once.
