The night hung over the festival. The large site near Forks had been set up provisionally. But the lack of comfort did not bother anyone. For everyone it was only important that their favorite band played.

But before he could strike, four hands had grabbed him and pulled him out of the crowd at a speed that the people did not notice. ,,Are you still okay? What's gotten into you?" asked Alice who let go of him and the blond Jasper still pressed the common friend of the two against the tree.

He looked at his two beloved ones, saw the worry and something like fear in their eyes.

Although the third of them was newborn and had been for a few weeks, it was still difficult to get used to the new life. ,,Into me? Alice I have lived the moshpit, the music...the people they are good for me" he countered and looked helpfully at Jasper. He had rarely seen their common love Alice so excited, so grown up, so serious.

But Jasper shook his head, his blond curls bobbing, before he said, ,,No, Alice is right, you are dead...you are one of us, a vampire, an undead," before he let him go. Alice sighed even though she didn't have to in her condition.

She closed her eyes for a moment before he intertwined her hand with that of her two lovers. ,,I know it's difficult...that it's all so new and unfamiliar. But you-you are no longer human, my star. You are one of us," she reminded him gently, squeezing his hand lightly. Jasper also gave the other a loving look. The words hit him and yet he knew that they were right. He had chosen the path to be with his two loved ones.

To be with Alice and Jasper. ,,You're right...when I'm ready then...you come with me and we'll go to the mosh pit together" he suggested and saw how the other two agreed Alice seemed to be clearly excited before she said ,,A vampire mosh pit!" she called happily and Jasper couldn't help smiling.

Even if the three vampires had to fight forever with the thirst for blood, there was one thing that would stand against it. The love.

Opinion on Jalice x ocs

Okay, sorry asker (and I still have a bunch more things in my asks but this one just made me want to unleash). But sit down, because here is "Giselle gets too srs bsns about OCs."

Disclaimer: I want to be completely clear here. The absolute core of fanfic, IMO, the thing that makes it so much more valuable culturally than commercial fiction, and the thing that makes the world go round, is this: in fic, you get to write for yourself. You get to spin the story you want to see told, in whatever way pleases you most, with no interference from the commercial publishing industry, or readers' taste, or anything other than "I wanted to experience this story, so I wrote it." This is super rare. Writing for just the sake of it is totally misunderstood--with any other hobby, we wouldn't go, "Oh are you trying to become a professional pickleballer?" or "Are you planning to try out for symphonies on your ukulele?" But for some reason, writing confuses people--we don't imagine it as ever being done just for fun.

Fanfiction is for fun, and that's what makes it so subversive and incredible.

So if you want to write a story that is you in the story, or Jalice in space, or wolfpack ABO--you should do that. That is literally where all the value in fanfic comes from. We get to hedonistically write exactly the thing we most want; to spend time with the characters exactly the way we want to, and sometimes a few readers come with us, and sometimes more readers come with us, and sometimes lots of readers come with us. And that's the whole amazing thing of it. So nothing I say here should be construed as "Don't write OCs." If OC x Jalice is your jam, fucking write that because that is literally what this whole thing is for, and what makes it so valuable and what makes it so unique.

HOWEVER.

Characters exist because they add something to the story that otherwise wouldn't exist without them. This is all characters, "original" or not. So any time you write a character, the question to ask is, "Why is this character in the story? What do they add? What's missing if they aren't here?"

This is not how most people write OCs.

OCs are often written so that the writer can imagine some scenario that they can't see happening with canon. That scenario is often, "What if I was in the story?"

"I" is a very seductive person to put into a story. As I said above, the whole fun of fanfic is the ability to imagine exactly how we want the world to go, and adding ourselves to the story is a logical extension of that. But what becomes difficult about that is that when you write a story, your reader needs to care about all the major characters in the story. In fanfic, we get to shortcut a little because our readers are already invested in the canon characters (although I still think it is well worth it to act as though we don't have that buy-in and to develop the canon characters just as much) but for an OC? You've got to do a lot of heavy lifting to make the reader convinced that this character is someone we should care about achieving their goal.

If the OC is a self-insert, that's tough emotionally, because of course the author cares about achieving her imaginary goal, so it's easy to accidentally leave out of the writing the part where we convince the reader that it matters. Then readers are mad, and we as authors feel like we've stuck our heart out there and gotten skewered.

If the OC is not a self-insert, it still takes time and skill and practice to draw a character in such a way that the reader agrees they belong in the story. This is hard, period, but doubly hard in fanfiction because the reader already has expectations about where the edges of the world are. So if you introduce an extra character, you really have to sell them, in a way you do not if you are writing a novel that is 100% yours. The result is that a lot of OCs feel like they serve no purpose, and readers don't buy them, and they don't understand why they are there.

Characters need to advance the story. If they get a name, they need to advance the story. If they do not advance the story, they do not belong in the story. If the answer to "what does this character add to the story" is "I just like them," then they don't belong. The story should be different if that character was absent, or if that character was different. (Different rant for a different day but this is why I don't buy for a minute the argument that published fanfic has changed the story enough to warrant its publication.) If you write an OC, or even if you give serious time to a character who was just a side mention in canon, you must do that work of making their story and their perspective integral to the story you're trying to tell.

I actually love this about OCs and near-OCs. Because they have no grounding in canon, you can make them serve whatever purpose you need them to, and however you choose to characterize them is entirely up to you, which gives you a lot of writerly freedom. I put OCs or near-OCs in almost every one of my fics—even the short ones. Off the top of my head: Tony Mason in Ithaca Is Gorges, Elizabeth Bradshawe in Stregoni Benefici, Dierdre in "For a Season," Dorothy in Stregoni Benefici, and more. And that's nothing compared to the canon-mentioned characters I've given fuller life in my fanfic. The reason I do this is because that freedom lets me show something about the canon characters, or the canon situation, that is more easily revealed by another party. But the onus is on me, the writer, to make it clear to the reader why this character matters so much and to tell the story in such a way that the OC becomes a fully fleshed-out character, and the story is such that it seems inevitable that the OC would be a part of it.

The most effective OCs in fanfiction are ones which drive the story of the characters that most people came to fanfic to read about--the canon characters--in a way that feels intrinsic and real. That means a lot of legwork on the part of the writer to understand the OC, and to create them in a way that makes the reader identify with them and care about their role in the story, and in a burden that is additional due to the nature of fic itself--convince the reader that they belong in a story the reader is expecting to only consist of the canon characters.

This is hard. It's hard to do well, especially if you don't have a lot of experience writing, as many fanfic writers do not, and it's hard to receive negative feedback when and if people don't connect with the OC that you've imagined being such an amazing person. This difference in what the writer thinks they're doing (having some fun with a new person) and what the reader wants to read (a story that makes sense with all the characters on the page) leads to a disconnect, and that disconnect is the source of a lot of the "people don't like OCs" / "OCs are bad" discourse in fandom.

So. I don't really have an opinion on any given paring, Jalice or otherwise, or any given character, "x OC." I love a good OC; I think they can do a lot in fic that canon characters cannot. If you can sell it, I will read it. But the less clear it is that this character has, well, character, and the less clear it is why this character is necessary to the story--the more it's going to feel like the OC is some strange, authorial hand.

And that's a hard sell in fanfic, period. It's not just because there's an OC; it's because it's genuinely difficult to do.

(My tumblr title is based on the idea of characterization, and for me, exploring characterization is at the center of why I write fic. That approach not true of everyone, so apply grains of salt as appropriate.)

5 Hannigram Most toxic one here, but like, I LOVE them? They are soul mates, they are both so fucked up that putting them with anyone should be considered crime against society. They get each other, they need each other, they are complete when they are together. They both have tried to kill each other enough times that It has become a meme at this point. They both are super Hot, they deserve each other and look good together.

6 Klaroline (dark and good, Hot, undeniable chemistry, look good together ) Delena (Hot , look good together , they complete each other, they deserve each other) Kolmonnie (he liked powerfull pretty witches, she likes her men dark and powerfull. They did with him and Davina what they should've done with him and Bonnie on Vampire Diaries, tbh. They would've been a powercouple)

7-Djats pairings : Canon ones - Daisily (in book Its wished by Camila aka she made them be together off the record/book , like...She always got what she wanted, in show It was also her wish so we got the wholesome iconic end) : They have unmatched chemistry (many people are obsessed with It) , they are soul mates, they deserve each other, they need each other, they made unmatched art together...Also they totally they need to go to therapy individually and together tbh, they both have daddy/mommy issues respectively, they look good together, their height difference in show Its perfect, he is Brown haired greenish eyed + she is redheaded and blue eyed , they match well (which I LOVE)....also they are both so fucked up that putting them with anyone else should be considered crime against society (Imagine how fucking much I love Camila , that even being a Billy lover too, I will always think that she deserved better than what Billy put her through). Karengraham my the ones that got away, if circumstances were different they would be perfect. Show made them even better (cause the made Graham nicer and Karen softer) they broke my Heart. In all my aus they are together. Their height difference Its perfect, they look good together.

Camily, I LOVE them, they are lovebirds, she is his peace he IS her passion (cause passion means both love and torture), they had a calm chemistry so beautiful to see, they are sweethearts, they look good together, one is caucasic the other latino which I liked a lot, they are super cool...And thats why I was torned reading and watching the show too. I love Camila, she IS a force. She is brutally soft and nice. I found her interesting.

The fact that she still loves Daisy ("i'm her biggest fan, I love the beautiful Life she made for herself", even in show she blessed Daisily in her final wish video? I would never i'm too spitefull XD) even with everything that was going on is...No one deserved her.

The final fight of Camila and Daisy is more realistic but less interesting in show... I liked better that in book. They switched the "You can be what you wanna " of the end to put It in the garden party, glad they didn't erase It, but It should been placed where it was suppossed to be.

Simornie, I LOVE them, they look very good together, they are well written, Bernie IS hard Simone soft, they were super cute and had nice chemistry too.

Warrenlisa, they were funny and wholesome, I loved them.

Only if well written : Camaisy (there are good fics around written on the Spirit what if both dump Billy and Runaway together, if Daisy was less selfish and Camila more selfish, and both bi It could work), Edaisy (because of you @porkchop200324 because he crushed on Daisy in the book, I kinda have a messy Au were Billy punches Eddie out of jealousy after he sleeps with Daisy , also Eddie and Daisy look good together ) and finally the throuple my cousin is obsessed with and IS trying to convert me to, can be super interesting: Daisilyla (Daisy/Billy/Camila).

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Alice can be affectionate, but she sometimes doesn’t show it. She loves giving gifts and such, and little physical touches. She isn’t a cuddle bug, but she’ll hold your hand, have a hand on your arm, things like that. She’s also very passionate with words, too.

Jasper is affectionate. Although he’s hesitant at first, he is definitely a cuddle bug. If you’re human, he’s obviously worried about it, always needing Alice there for support and normally keeping her right next to you, but after a while he grew to trust himself more. He’ll hold your hand, play with your hair, always have a seat for you (his lap in a non-sexual manner). I mean, you’ve seen how he is in the first Twilight movie.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

You’ve seen Alice as a best friend with Bella, but both of them? Best girl talk. Jasper does give blunt advice, but he’s also like so good to talk to about boys and shit. Alice gets you the delulu stuff unless it’s bad, then she’s honest. But also like they will do stupid shit with you as long as you won’t get hurt, and if you could have two platonic soulmates they would be it.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Alice likes to cuddle. It’s not her love language or anything, but she does like it.

And we already know Jasper 100% loves it. Also like cuddling both of them? Either you or Alice in the middle, but you could probably convince Jasper if you tried hard enough. But normally he likes holding either one of you.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

If you were turned, they would 100% live alone with you, and maybe even if you weren’t, but it would take a lot of convincing Jasper. Everyone would have their own duties for cooking, but yes they’re both good at it. Also I feel like Jasper would be better at cooking, if you needed. (Alice could probably light the kitchen on fire on accident so she stays away.)

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Jasper would probably do most of the talking because he’s the only one who can be THAT blunt. They would want to be platonic afterwards, but it definitely emotionally devastated both of them. But they wouldn’t have to, because Alice would be able to see that yall would stay together, so unless you end it, they wouldn’t.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

If Alice could see a future where you were together, that’s how that shit went. They don’t really marry quickly, I mean, Carlisle was the one that made them get married. So, obviously, it’s complex cause you’re three people, but if possible they’d get married to you after a while. Turning you… they would 100% wait at least three years. Keeping you young enough, but not too old. They waited until Alice said it was time from the visions.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

I cannot stress this enough. 10/10 on the gentleness scale. They could easily break you if they were still human, so yeah of course they’re gentle. Also everything with them is gentle soft love. Somewhat old fashioned too. Jasper is not a woman beater, so even though it’s old fashioned it’s GENTLE. (Help why did I feel the need to say that)

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

They are huggers. I mean, Jasper is from Texas. (“I’m from Texas, I’m a hugger.” -my friends mom a couple years ago) and Alice gives a bunch of them. Jasper was hesitant at first, I mean, you’ve seen everything physical, why would this be different. But also neither of them let go first. Just saying.

(Wild card: if you were still human and having a meltdown, like Jasper would just pull you into a hug and hold you. He also knows when to calm you down or not, and if he thinks you need to cry he’ll let you cry.)

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Jasper keeps Alice from saying it and freaking you out. But she says it quickly, obviously the first. He takes a bit longer, but he definitely said it first to you.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Jasper doesn’t really get jealous, Alice does a little bit, but normally she just squeezes the life (ha) out of Jaspers hand or will come up to you and who you’re talking to and pretend not to be bothered and when that person is away she’ll be unbothered and happy again.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Alice’s are quick. Little pecks all over your or Jaspers face and neck. She likes nose and forehead kisses for her.

Jaspers are soft but longer as well. He likes kissing your or Alice’s lips or forehead. He prefers lip kisses, but if you kissed any of his scars? He would melt. Absolutely putty in your hands. A little hesitant at first, but when you’re gentle with him? AHH.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

I feel like Alice isn’t great around babies but when they’re older she’s better. Jasper is pretty good with children, you see it with Renesmee.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

They don’t really sleep so it’s kind of like every other time for them 🧍‍♀️ but like they have some sort of a routine consisting of the norm, and would be able to adapt to if you were a human and like had a different circumstance.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Cuddling. Reading. Shit like that. If you need to sleep, they pretty much establish a bedtime for you if you can’t take care of that yourself.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Alice is relatively open, besides the vampire thing, and with Jasper it takes a little while.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Alice is relatively patient, but she definitely has a breaking point that’s easier to reach. Jasper, on the other hand, has the patience of a saint.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

They remember everything. Well, Jasper doesn’t think he remembers everything, but if someone asks a question about like what your favorite color is or why you have a certain scar or something he’ll immediately have the answer. Alice doesn’t say anything, but she does know and remember everything you’ve told her and she knows random things about you from the future as well.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

You got a camera, and went around taking pictures of everyone in the fall. You had a plan to get a cute picture with you and them, but you all ended up falling and there’s just a picture of that. No one got hurt, but it did turn out an epic picture. Did Alice sense it coming? Somehow, no, which is part of the reason she likes it so much.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Very protective. Do you remember in Eclipse when it says that Jasper got so many more bites because he was trying to protect her? If you’re human, it’s like that but worse. As long as you keep his heart protected and don’t break it? It’s all yours. Even if you did, it would be yours anyways—

With Alice she’s super protective as well. She knows you can deal with yourself. If a guy is flirting with you? That’s a different story. The same thing goes for her with protecting her heart.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

So much fucking effort. You saw Bella’s birthday and wedding? Yours are like that too, but more stitched to fit you personally.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

I mean Alice’s habit of constantly worrying about things in the future isn’t great, and Jasper sometimes changes other people’s emotions too much. But like…

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Concerned. I mean, they need to look put together. Alice is huge on that, but Jasper is a little less.

Yes. They didn’t even realize it until they met you, but it’s true.
