On today's episode of Angel Overanalyzing 5ds
This scene
It begins with Primo noting Lester is over confident. Of course he would comment on that.
However he isn't do so with any hint of scorn, malice, or anything. He just says it like a fact, because it is.
He follows it with "let's hope it doesnt cost him the duel..."
"..Or worse"
That last past is actually very significant.
See, Primo is portrayed as cold and ruthless. The only thing that matters to him is his mission. With that mindset, losing the duel is the worst possible outcome.
And yet, what does he say?
"Let's hope it doesn't cost him the duel. Or worse."
Not "or his life" or "it gets him hurt". It's "or worse"
And that means that to him, losing the duel isn't the worst possible outcome. Losing Lester is.
Now, Jakob's response to this made me physically go "OUCH".
"Lester knows what he's doing. Which is more than can be said for YOU sometimes."
First of all, the tone used at the start is far from reassuring. If anything, it's authoritative, almost threatening. And it doesn't sound at all like he has confidence in Lester so much as that he expects Lester to know what he's doing. In fact, he hardly sounds like he cares.
Especially because he follows with "Which is more than can be said for YOU sometimes." That made me physically go "ouch". Because... OUCH.
His comment completely throws off his earlier statement as it takes the focus off being confident in Lester to putting down Primo. It makes it less of a reassurance that Lester will be fine and more of an unnecessary insult to Primo, who hadn't even insulted Lester. Primo had just stated a simple fact and a worry, and Jakob responded with a cutting remark toward Primo.
And look at Primo's reaction.

Tumblr media
He stares right at Jakob. And then looks down.
No response. No anger. Nothing.
Not even a "tch" or a grimace.
He's completely calm.
Almost like he's heard this before.
His eyes widen a bit when Jakob talks about him instead, but he takes it. There's no surprise at all. No visible emotion beyond a glare that's only notable if you look close at his eyebrow. And then he looks down, like he's hurt. But he doesn't even argue, he's just taken it.
He doesn't ask Jakob to explain what he means. He doesn't debate it. He stays quiet. But the bit that shows his hurt is the fact that he looks down. He looks away.
Primo doesn't respond because there's nothing to say, because he's heard this before and has given up.
Him looking down is like a sign of defeat. He can't keep Jakob's gaze and looks away, and the expression on his face is almost sad. Resignation. Acceptance even. He doesn't even try to defend himself because he knows it's pointless
Another thing that proves that this has happened before is his attitude to Lester. He's constantly at odds with him. Aside from Lester's attitude, there may be another reason.
Lester is the one who gets the praise from Jakob.
Think about it. Jakob said Lester, the child Lester, the immature Lester, Lester who wasn't that involved and only made this one plan, Lester is the one who knows what he's doing. But Primo apparently doesn't according to Jakob. Primo, who's clearly been the brains of the operation, is the one who doesn't know what he's doing. It doesn't make sense, especially when you consider that Lester and Primo are from the different stages of the same person's life. If Lester was capable at that age, Primo should be more capable, shouldn't he? But Jakob claims Lester is the one who knows what he's doing, because Lester is Jakob's favourite. Why else did Jakob not only justify Lester's attitude but also insult Primo for calling Lester out on it?
Tldr: this scene hurts me because Jakob is clearly showing who is his favourite and it's clear Primo is always compared to Lester to point that he's just given up on defending himself

One thing that's been on my mind is how android are Aporia (and by extension the Tenors), Antinomy, and Paradox?
My personal take is that Antinomy is an android in a sense similar to that of Synths of Fallout 4 since he's able to eat and drink. Fully passes for human in every way, but there is evident cybernetics and robotics inside of him. Sorta Gen 3 synth but not at the same time. Since he was closest to Z-one, he got the most special treatment when getting his android body.
Aporia and the Tenors are your classic Androids that are fully cybernetic underneath the artificial skin and armor. They can eat and drink too, but the process is much more complicated and too scientifically for my puny dumbass brain to properly explain. (I HC Primo, despite what he says, really likes strawberries and rarely can be seen snacking on them when Lester and Jakob aren't in the same room as him. His mind is fucking BLOWN when one introduces him to toppings, especially whipped cream toppings.)
Paradox is also akin to Antinomy, being built similar to a Gen 3 synth, but with one key difference: since his particular mission was to go back in time and turn Pegasus into the highest quality Dragon Food and if it were successful would p much wipe him from existence a la his namesake, his body wasn't built to last as long as Antinomy's. So because of this, he usually needs maintenance at some point in my AUs where he lives, and that leads to a whole heap of shenanigans I won't go into right now.

Like I think so far the series I've come across with the most Left Handed Charcters is Yugioh-
Z-one, Aporia (Split into Lest/Primo and Jakob), Paradox, Antinomy/ Bruno and Tsukikage
All but one coming from 5ds with Tsukikage being Arc V.
With all of the 5ds characters being VILLAINS/ Antagonists, with the exception of Bruno
Now I'm not that personally bothered about antagonists being left handed but it's still wild that the majority of the left handed characters we do have in the series are antagonists

Jakob redesign, for an AU where Team New World aren't evil murderbots from the future.
It's taken a while, especially because Jakob doesn't have a face in canon that I can use as a reference; his beard and eyebrow obscure almost everything, and the respirator does the rest. I've also had limited energy reserves as of recent, so my motivation keeps dropping off.

With the help of @trickbuster , I decided to do some cursed bishounen redesigns for Cronos and Jose from 5Ds…
My friend really hates clowns in terms of design and I got offended because I am a clown. >:{

Primo/Placido will torture Lesterz/ Lucciano in any way. He will tease him, steal his things, and even throw him off objects.
But he will not, under any circumstance, hit the little boy. Even if he's angry. He will be pushed to the limit... but he will never, ever, ever, slap Lucciano. He will scream at him, but when he catches sight of Lucciano getting genuinely frightened, he will stop, and walk away. There are times when José/Jakob has even told him to give Lucciano a good hard beating because that boy is the bloody limit, and Placido turns around and simply goes "No" in the coldest, firmest voice imaginable.
José himself isn't above giving either of the two a slap when he's angry. Especially Placido (because oldest child=punching bag). Honestly, Placido and Lucciano laugh about it. He once turned up to hang out at Yusei's (I'm ignoring the ending I'm ignoring the ending i am IGNORING the ending) with a cut on his face, and it turned out he made José mad, and Joseé ended up chucking what he was holding at him. Which was a frying pan. And Placido was just laughing about it the whole time and joking about how easily he dodged it and how ridiculous José looked wielding a frying pan. Everyone else was just deeply concerned.
But because of this, Placido won't hit Lucciano. Does he laugh about it? Maybe. But he still hates being kicked about and used as a punching bag by José. So he refuses to do the same to Lucciano. He refuses to become José.
(And no. Aporia doesn't count for him. José as Aporia and José as José aren't the same man to Placido. He will never become that.)
