cisco ramon

dctv fandom will portray cisco as like. a naive blushing prop for whatever ship they like the most and it's like...first of all this is a grown man, especially so many seasons into a show, second of all he watched a man die in the first season of that show--several times, if i'm not mistaken--third of all he's a fully fledged character who doesn't need to be a cheerleader for whatever (white) couple you're writing about now, third of all he's a genius, fourth of all...etc etc. there's so many reasons not to do this. c'mon.

also not to be a gatekeeper but as much as i love dctv cisco he and comics cisco are not the same person and while i wholeheartedly endorse adding elements of his comic book narrative to dctv canon whether that's onscreen or in fanon and do it myself all the time i do think that if you haven't read the comics or otherwise familiarized yourself with their contents (obligatory pspspspsps justice league of america's vibe is only ten issues and in a pretty self contained canon) writing those elements is only going to lead to further mischaracterization.

youd get that comic relief character treatment where theyre either treated like a 2 yr old or oversexualized.. but there would also be a section of the fanbase with that have brains that would see you as a very cool and in depth character and treat you right. also there would be discourse about us as a couple

11. Do you like your flag(s)?

i do!!! i love the community lesbian flag a lot, i think pink/orange/white is just a really nice combo aesthetically, but i also find the color meanings to be really encompassing of lesbianism in a way that makes me feel lovely!

12. Favorite flag(s) visually?

idk i really like them all i think!! i have to say i am really partial to gilbert baker’s original 8-stripe flag, and the 9-stripe one with the lavender stripe :)

24. Favorite LGBT+ canon character?

aaaah probably adora or catra... i really can’t choose between them i love them both so much!! they are such emotionally complex and rich characters and their (romantic!!!) love for each other is so completely core to their characters!! that really affects me every time i think about it tbh. i really love them

32. Something you wish people understood about your identity? 

lesbian is a great word!! if you know someone id’s as “lesbian” you should go out of your way to say it (when appropriate, of course) because SO many lesbians i know (in my generation at least) spent a lot of time shying away from that label and overcoming internalized lesbophobia to accept it. the reason i started accepting that label was from talking to other lesbians and seeing lesbianism talked about normally! it’s a good word and everyone can and should say it!

about your prequel revan au, i always viewed the exile as more sympathetic towards mandalorians and helping them rebuild their culture (bc of how connected they are to them in kotor 2, and kind of also a guilt thing where they feel so awful about malachor v) and that makes me think of the exile kind of like.. travelling around the galaxy but eventually ending up siding With death watch when it comes to mandalore stuff which would make revan and the exile's already messy relationship even messier

yo im here for the exile helping rebuild what they ruined!! 

the exile’s relationship with mandalorians as a whole isn’t as messy as revan’s, but it’s still something complicated and ugly, built on blood and bones. but the white-hot rage that carried them through warzone after warzone, the battlesong ringing in their ears... all of it is muted against the backdrop of Malachor V. malachor left them drained. hollow in a way that revan could not understand. 

( this is an off tangent, but it’s important, so we��re gonna discuss it. there’s this headcanon i have, about the exile leaving after malachor. it’s not a fight. like everything in the wake of cataclysm, their departure is a quiet thing. they say that they’re done, that they’re leaving, returning to the jedi, and revan just. lets them go. because revan knows malachor broke the exile, because it broke them, too, in a different way. )

i think that in kotor 2, in helping the mandalorians and working with mandalore the preserver, the exile begins to heal. moreso than anything else they do in the game. to be fair, i haven’t played the game in a few years so my memory is fuzzy, but there’s just. a lot of history between the exile and the mandalorians, and addressing it head-on, actually going forth and aiding the enemy you once despised... it does a lot for the exile. 

rather than aiding death watch, the exile would sooner help the true mandalorians. or more accurately, jango fett and the other survivors of the battle of galidraan. because they were much more the children of mandalore that canderous would have called his kin. and rebuilding the true mandalorians from that, especially with being a ‘jedi’ for all intents and purposes, is difficult for the exile. and while part of their motivation is guilt, it’s more... determination? than anything else. it’s a desire to see growth where there was none before. a need to heal not only others, but themself. (revan does this too, in their own way)

the exile and revan also have a complicated relationship, but (at least for my revan and exile) that’s because they have a deep understanding of each other and yet remain consistently unable to reconcile their differences. they’re both very aware of the other’s flaws and motivations, and don’t hesitate to use that to their advantage, and therefore they fight a lot. so when revan screeches and launches themself at the exile for aiding the mandalorians, it’s a surprise to everyone but the exile, and when the exile punches revan in the face for some of their worse stunts during the clone wars (or more accurately, being an arrogant bastard about it), revan doesn’t even try to dodge.

you are a cliff swallow!

as the name implies, cliff swallows nest on cliff faces. colonies with thousands of individuals build structures out of mud and clay to lay their eggs in. the nests often have very small entrance holes which the female waits at to be brought food. they’re charismatic little birds that work as a community to keep each other safe from danger.

   if youre looking for recs, green lantern stuff is almost always very good? and usually gives a side of the dc universe you can enjoy without having to keep up with a ton of other stuff from the era ! id recommend tomasi’s green lantern, kyle’s run from the 90s (and zero hour just so know know whats going on), and the other larger arcs from the 2000s that tie together and lead into blackest night. i can give you a bigger list / one with names and issues in pms if you want

i was mostly just blabbering and getting my thoughts out, but not averse to recs :P   

thats really good to know about the green lantern stuff not requiring me to read all the other stuff from that era, cuz sometimes i get soooo tired of crossover plotlines that are continued in other issues. It’s like I want to read comics, not to a scavenger hunt of “Where the fuck is this plotline”
