THE JEALOUSY OF A GOD
genre. greek god au. slightly fluffy. warnings. descriptions of war. jealousy. abduction(?). wyatt bleeds ichor not blood. only loosely proofread. wyatt and reader are married. pairing. ares!wyatt x demeter!reader. (ft. helios!seungjun & apollo!hyojin). wc. 1.4k. request. no. a/n. ares is the god of war, demeter is the goddess of harvest for those unaware. we're going to ignore the fact that demeter is hera's sister and ares is hera's son bcuz... yeah. there's sm incest in greek mythology help??? also i kinda hate this i think it's bad so i'm sorry also the ending is kinda rushed but my brain gave up....
You couldn’t help the way your heart broke a little as you surveyed the sight of all the trampled flowers, torn grass, and squashed bushes. Blood painted them, making what was a luscious thriving green appear brown and dirty. All of your hard work had gone to waste again— all because of Jaeyoung.
As the god of war, it seemed wherever Jaeyoung went, war would follow. He was generally disliked amongst the other gods because of the violence that always broke out due to his rashness. He had a tendency to be hot headed and think with his spear rather than his head. This was at the expense of many poor humans, as well as your poor flowers. You could never hate him for it, though.
Though the god of war and the goddess of harvest were possibly the two most unlikely pairing, your love was written in the stars, predicted and destined to be since the beginning of time. Jaeyoung was by no means the perfect god, but you were far from perfect yourself. His rashness balanced your overly cautious nature, and his push to take risks had been beneficial many times in the past. At the same time, your thoughtfulness had gotten him out of trouble on numerous occasions over the centuries.
When it came down to it, Jaeyoung was someone who you would always come back to. His loyalty made him more trustworthy than any other god or goddess you knew, and you knew he would always stand by you no matter what and listen to all your concerns. The love and peace of mind he gave you was far more precious than your field of flowers— you could always grow them back.
His wars didn’t happen as often as they used to due to your influence on him. He knew how much you hated bloodshed in general, and you had his word that it would only happen when absolutely unavoidable. You were sure this battlefield was the same.
Broken spears and bloodied bodies remained hidden amongst the tall grass and broken flower stems. You walked through the field, watching as fresh grass and poppies sprouted wherever your feet touched. You carried a basket of ambrosia and a goblet of nectar, intent on giving them to your lover.
Jaeyoung still stood at the other end of the field, ordering his warriors around to check for the dead. He didn’t seem to notice your presence yet, but as you drew closer, he turned around from the brush of your footsteps through the grass.
“Love, why are you here so early? It has not been an hour since the fighting ceased.” He said warily, his deep voice drawing goosebumps out from your skin. He sheathed his sword and cupped your cheek, the familiarity of his rough hands against your smooth skin made your eyes flutter closed. Whether it was in the intimacy of your own or moments after a battle, his touch still held boundless love for you.
“You’re getting gold on me.” You said softly, noticing every movement he took. He drew his hand back, feeling the ichor drips from his fingertips. He wiped it away, and then swept across your cheek where it had stained, returning your skin to its smooth untainted state.
“Forgive me— I have not yet had the chance to tend to my wounds.” He replied.
“I am sorry for coming so early and unannounced. I could not rest while you were not home. I would like to tend to the field before Seungjun’s chariot reaches the west.” You said slowly, searching his eyes for his approval. He nodded, accepting the ambrosia and nectar from you and withdrawing to the shade of a tree to partake in the nourishment.
You trailed along the edge of the field, letting your touch slowly heal the Earth, life sprouting from your very fingertips. Jaeyoung watched you intently, pondering over your differences as he often did. You breathed life into everything you touched, allowing the flowers to bloom, the crops to mature, and humanity to continue. His existence brought death and chaos, fear and loss following him at every turn.
It was a delicate dance; life and death.
When you were satisfied with the flowers now blooming on the field, you ambled back towards the tree that Jaeyoung was now sleeping under. The battle must have tired him out. You knelt beside him, brushing a wet cloth against the cuts that still leaked gold from his body. Your husband was strong as most gods were, but you still cared for him as if he was the most delicate piece of glass.
You knew it was strange how you loved him. Your love for him resembled humans’ love, not the love of a god. Jaeyoung had filled every last piece of your heart, and you loved him with your entire being. It had taken a long time for him to even get a sliver of affection out of you, and you often remembered the days where his efforts to win you over were met with silence from you. You used to despise how treacherous he was; how much pain his wars caused. But it wasn’t entirely his true nature.
Yes, he fought, but he fought for the right causes and he was loyal to his men. You had grown tired of how fickle your fellow gods were. They betrayed each other as if it were their only entertainment, and you would be hard pressed to find a god who had no enemies.
The other gods of Olympus hated Jaeyoung because he had stopped being like them. Once he had met you, and quickly fallen in love, he dedicated his life to you. You were present in all of his thoughts, and he would turn on the whole world before he turned on you. There was not a single other god who you could say possessed such devotion.
The least you could do to return his affection was keeping him as safe as possible. You had never told him how hard you worked to keep connections with the other gods of Olympus. Over half of them were more than ready to kick both you and Jaeyoung out after one of his more rebellious encounters. You convinced them to not strip your husband of his powers, but even now, you had yet to soothe Hera and Athena’s anger.
You were wary of Hera especially. She didn’t forgive others easily, and was known to be jealous and wicked. You knew she was planning something against Jaeyoung even now, and you were anxious to find out what it was. You weren’t sure what else you could do to get you back in her good graces.
Jaeyoung stirred awake at your touch, already alert as soon as he opened his eyes. He glanced up at you, quickly checking that everything was alright before sitting up.
“No one would be able to tell that a battle happened on this field.” His eyes trailed over the fresh flowers and healthy grass; now looking much unlike the field he had fallen asleep to. He then turned back to you, “Thank you for cleaning it up.”
You simply cupped his face and pressed a kiss to his lips, which he gladly reciprocated. It was your silent way of reminding him that you were more than willing to do anything for him. He was yours and you were his for the rest of time, and nothing could ever separate him from you.
You travelled back to Olympus; Jaeyoung seemed cheerful, while you were more cautious. Something in your gut was telling you that now was not the time to show your faces in Zeus’s throne room. You dissuaded your husband from announcing his return, and led him back to your chambers instead, urging him to rest more and promising him to be back within an hour.
But you didn’t return within an hour, and Jaeyoung’s worry grew with each passing minute. Hyojin— the god of archery, music, and poetry— burst in, and with a few quick words of explanation, Jaeyoung’s heart sank. He knew that he had gotten on Hera’s bad side; his willingness to do anything for you only reminded her of how unsuitable her own husband was to her. Jaeyoung knew that she held no fondness for him, but he had never accounted for the full extent of her jealousy.
Hera had captured you, and Jaeyoung had no doubt that she would do whatever it took to get what she wanted out of him, using you as her leverage.

My Yuletide contribution, finally revealed! It was a great pleasure to write this for @idrilka.
Fandom: Semantic Error (TV) Relationship: Chu Sangwoo/Jang Jaeyoung Additional Tags: Post-Canon, 5+1 Things, Domestic Fluff, learning to live together
Summary:
At the end of each year, Chu Sangwoo made lists. One contained his goals for the coming year, of course, but another contained notable life events and accomplishments of the past year, and since the lists all lived in the same notebook for comparative purposes across time, he’d also started noting changes in his habits and routines. Data was important in understanding anything, including himself.
He stared down at the current year’s list, surprised at how many changes there were, but even more puzzled that he hadn’t noticed them as major events at the time. They had been… gradual, somehow. Natural-seeming.

This was an amazing year for BL and incredibly hard just to narrow these down to only five per category. Thank you to all of the authors, writers, and creators out there! We appreciate your hard work ♡
Enjoy!

Killer Crush (2022 winner)
Punch Drunk Love
Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi / The World's Greatest First Love: The Case of Ritsu Onodera
Lucky Paradise
Sasaki and Miyano
And the winner is...
PUNCH DRUNK LOVE
Moscareto, you've done it again. I'm literally laughing every chapter. The characters, the art, the whole story is amazing. Can't wait to continue reading it this year and will definitely be a re-read for me down the line. Love those AU chapters too!!
.
✰ MOST INTRIGUING
And the nominees are...
Mad Place (2021 winner)
Lost in the Cloud
Shutline
Liveta
I Became the Lousy Side Top
And the winner is...
I BECAME THE LOUSY SIDE TOP
Yay!! I was so surprised by this manhwa. I started to re-read it and suddenly it was taking over my thoughts - the transportation mystery and the shifting love triangle has me hooked!! I'm so excited to see where it goes from here ❀
.
✰ BEST S3X SCENES
And the nominees are...
Pearl Boy
Love in Orbit
Coyote
Taming the Tiger
The Ghost's Nocturne
And the winner is...
COYOTE
I mean... everything this author does is beautiful and sexy af. Their very first sex scene was... very good. The difference in species, the secrets, the newness, the amazing art style (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄ Easily some of the hottest scenes I've read.
.
✰ FAVORITE FLUFF
And the nominees are...
Our Dining Table
The Third Ending
Sasaki and Miyano
Hirano and Kagiura
Our Sunny Days
And the winner is...
OUR DINING TABLE
Awwwwww this one was so cute!! I read and also watched the live action which was great ♡ I usually don't get attached to shorter mangas because you don't spend as much time with the story and characters, but because I watched the live action with this one it's stuck in my heart. Super soft romance ♡
.
✰ FAVORITE BOTTOM
And the nominees are...
Seo-an | The Pizza Delivery Man and the Gold Palace (2022 winner)
Victor | Liveta (2021 winner)
Sangwoo | Semantic Error
Seon-Woo | Punch Drunk Love
Yeonwu | Banana Scandal
And the winner is...
SEON-WOO | PUNCH DRUNK LOVE
He really stole my heart with his hilarious daydreams and fantasies, but I grew to love this character even more because of his sweet (yet sexually charged) nature and the fact that he's genuine and earnest. So cute and just an overall unique character ♡
.
✰ FAVORITE TOP
And the nominees are...
Giovanni | Hold Me Tight (2021 winner)
Dooshik | Pearl Boy
Ash | Define the Relationship
Juwon | High Clear
Yoonseul | The Third Ending
And the winner is...
GIOVANNI | HOLD ME TIGHT
Giovanni again!! ♡ It was super tough to choose from this list of amazing men but as I've said many, many times, Giovanni has my whole heart. I simply love him.
Like a lot of the tops on this list (I love the green flags the most ♡) he's different from the typical top who's a company president/director. He doesn't care about money, power, or really anything else except the ones he loves - which is mainly just Felix. One of my favorite things about Giovanni is that he'll drop absolutely anything to go to Felix's side, no questions asked. And sometimes a few questions would be a good thing.
.
✰ FAVORITE COUPLE
And the nominees are...
Dooshik & Jooha | Pearl Boy (2021 and 2022 winner)
Skylar & Cirrus | Lost in the Cloud
Taeman & Dahyeok | Killer Crush
Sangwoo & Jaeyoung | Semantic Error
Sasaki & Miyano | Sasaki and Miyano
Woo-won & Seo-an | The Pizza Delivery Man & the Gold Palace
And the winner is...
DOOSHIK & JOOHA | PEARL BOY
Dooshik & Jooha again!! ♡ It was so hard to choose from this list!! But if you've read Pearl Boy, you know these two are the epitome of ride or die. On top of that, they're also so many other things, like adorable, awkward, funny, silly, and incredibly sexy. I absolutely LOVED their awkward and silly beginning and both of their determination throughout the story to be with each other and care for each other ♡♡
(Yes I have six in this category but I couldn't take any of these off the list!!)
.
✰ FAVORITE SIDE COUPLE
And the nominees are...
Potato & Heesung | Jinx
Sys & Randolph | King's Maker: Triple Crown
Deisel & Ein | Wolf in the House
Taeman & Da-hyuk | Killer Crush
Seo & Do-Hyeok | My Suha (side chapters)
And the winner is...
SEO & DO-HYEOK | MY SUHA (SIDE CHAPTERS)
I'm kind of surprised this won, but I can't lie. I ate these side chapters up. Every week I looked forward to seeing if these two were going to fight, f*ck, or fight while f*cking. I didn't think it would end so soon and abruptly. I was also hoping for a different ending. But I'm happy we got this story in the first place because I don't think anyone expected these two characters to interact, I'm glad we got to see it. And maybe we'll see more of them someday? A girl can dream.
.
✰ COUPLE I MOST WANT TO BE IN A THROUPLE WITH
And the nominees are...
Our Sunny Days
Define the Relationship
The Pizza Delivery Man and The Gold Palace
Pearl Boy
Hold Me Tight
And the winner is...
DEFINE THE RELATIONSHIP
:'( Sadly none of these will become a reality, but if I could choose a relationship to be welcomed into with open arms, it would be with these two beautiful men. Two alphas? Are you kidding me? Two alphas, one top one bottom... yes please!!
.
✰ FAVORITE MAIN CHARACTER
And the nominees are...
Seon-Woo | Punch Drunk Love
Juwon | High Clear
Yoonseul | The Third Ending
Taeman | Killer Crush
Shin | Shutline
And the winner is...
TAEMAN | KILLER CRUSH
Taeman ♡♡♡ we've got ourselves a killer / babygirl! Really the perfect example of 'get you a man who can do both.' He'll kill a wild boar to save you no sweat then cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie with you. He's shy and blushes a lot, he's also calm, cool, and collected when he needs to be. He is everything to me ♡ Looking forward to re-reading Killer Crush soon before the next season comes out!!
.
✰ FAVORITE SIDE CHARACTER
And the nominees are...
Deisel | Wolf in the House
Woojin | Lucky Paradise
Sys | King's Maker: Triple Crown
Heesung | Jinx
Potato | Jinx
And the winner is...
SYS | KING'S MAKER / KING'S MAKER: TRIPLE CROWN
Where do I start? I love him ♡ I love everything about him. I love his cuteness and his cheerful energy. I fucking love his dom side, his choice of outfits for himself and others, his taste in men. What an icon. I'm sure I'll have much more to say after actually reading season 3.
.
✰ FAVORITE BOY
And the nominees are...
Kim Dan | Jinx
Dooshik | Pearl Boy
Giovanni | Hold Me Tight
Yoonseul | The Third Ending
Juwon | High Clear
And the winner is...
JUWON | HIGH CLEAR
I love this boy so much! So cute, so funny, incredibly awkward, and so freaking sexy. I love his tough energy in the beginning and his more recent soft top energy. His chibis kill me every single time. And I think it's well known by now that characters with red hair like this are my weakness (>ω<)
.
✰ FAVORITE TOXIC BL
And the nominees are...
Twittering Birds Never Fly
Low Tide in Twilight
Jinx
Under the Green Light
My Suha (side chapters)
And the winner is...
TWITTERING BIRDS NEVER FLY
How can I not choose Twittering Birds when I've been obsessed with it for like 3 years? I re-read it a few months ago and cannot get enough of these two. I love it. I need more. I pray for a happy ending - though not anytime soon. I cannot get enough of their tension and the recent chapters!!!! ⁂((✪o✪))⁂ I'm so excited to see what we'll see from them this year.
.
✰ SUING FOR EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
And the winner is...
PEARL BOY
I bawled my eyes out after seeing one tiktok of these two. The ending... while technically happy... had me in tears. Really, I was in distress throughout the entire series. And also the ending could have been happier and more clear in my opinion. But was it all worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Ideally I would read it all in one go, but still yes.
.
✰ FAVORITE NEW BL
And the winner is...
OUR SUNNY DAYS
Ahhhhhhh!!! I'm so happy about this new BL!! So wholesome, so cute, SO FUNNY!! Not even 10 chapters in and I already adored all three of them. So much warmth ♡ I would read 100+ chapters about them just going about their daily lives.
The author apologized in chapter 22(?) because we had to wait so long for spicier chapters - first, I did not once feel like I was waiting too long for spicy chapters, I wasn't even thinking about that, I was just happy and second, dear author, you never have to apologize for anything, you're creating a masterpiece here. I already know it's going to be one of my all time favorites ♡♡♡
.
✰ FAVORITE ONGOING BL
And the winner is...
SEKAI-ICHI HATSUKOI / THE WORLD'S GREATEST FIRST LOVE: THE CASE OF RITSU ONODERA
Oh my god... I read this for the first time this year, not expecting much but to my surprise I enjoyed every second of it 0_0
It was just so fun! Ritsu was hilarious and relatable (minus the nepotism), maybe controversial, but I love Takano ♡ That man just wants Ritsu's love, he's got it so bad.
I loved reading about all of the side characters and couples too ♡♡ I will be reading Junjou Romantica and then re-reading this and then probably watching both animes. And by then, maybe, finally, Ritsu will have confessed.
.
✰ FAVORITE BL THAT ENDED THIS YEAR
And the winner is...
HOLD ME TIGHT, BANANA SCANDAL, -AND- SEMANTIC ERROR
I couldn't decide!!! How was I supposed to decide between these three??? There were so many great BLs that ended this year (ノAヽ)
Hold Me Tight - Wow, 194 episodes and I would have kept reading as far as the author wanted to go. This one has a special place in my heart because I remember exactly where I was when I started it and binged probably the whole first season. I've since re-read the entire thing, and despite how long it is, I was so sad when I got to the last chapter. One of my all time favorites. I love Giovanni and Felix so much ♡♡ I love their love ♡♡ (Leegang was my favorite side character). Funny, heartwarming, loving, wholesome ♡
Banana Scandal - I am so so SO glad that we got a season 3 ♡ Even with 190 episodes, similarly, I would have read three more seasons. I loved Taehee and Dojin in season one so much, but Yeonwoo and Taehwan stole my heart just as much at the end of season 2 and in season 3!! I will definitely be re-reading this again ♡ and recommending it forever. Sweet, funny, cute, love these boys ♡
Semantic Error - which just ended like last week it feels like. I'm so sad seeing this one end right now, I want to see more of Sangwoo and Jaeyoung ♡ I feel like there was some more to tell - I'm really hoping for a few side chapters. But overall, duh, I LOVED reading this. So funny, had me hooked from the very beginning. Enjoyed the art style, the concept, and of course the characters ♡♡ I will be re-reading this one again someday. And maybe checking out the novel...
For all of these and other ones that ended this year, I'll be so excited to read future works by these authors!!! ♡♡♡
.
✰ FAVORITE BL OF 2023
And the winner is...
SASAKI AND MIYANO -AND- HIRANO AND KAGIURA
I cheated again and included both of these for best of 2023! I think we all know why and know that I couldn't possible choose one over the other.
Sasaki & Miyano I started in the beginning of 2022 and immediately read Hirano and Kagiura after I caught up and also immediately watched the anime. And now we have a movie!
In addition to being an adorable and wholesome romance, both of these were hilarious. Miyano is my favorite, and one of my favorite panels of him is when he called Hirano an uke to his face ʱªʱªʱª(ᕑᗢूᓫ∗) Miyano you crazy fudanshi!!
The tension with both of these couples!! So freaking soft ♡ and the way I know we're all screeching at just hand holding and little touches is delightful ♡
.

BONSOIR DORM⠀⠀6th of December, 2018
It was quiet in the dorms. Just Jiyeol and his thoughts, alone. He was perched on the horribly creaky sofa, letting himself sink into the fluff-covered cushions Ilwoo had been so excited to buy and wondering how to spend his evening—a rare free one, something he hadn’t been able to enjoy in a while.
Yet whatever Jiyeol had been planning to do that night—whether that be to go and lock himself up in the practice room to go over the routines he already knew by heart, or rewatch any one of the six DVD’s they had sitting lonely and growing dust on their shelf, or simply sit at the kitchen island and stare out at the darkening skies overlooking the city—was rudely interrupted by the abrupt sound of keys in the front door, whoever was behind it yanking it open and then slamming it shut after them. The commotion was followed by a pair of hurried footsteps, thundering into the living room where he was sat.
The leader winced at the noise and then grit his teeth at the subsequent shouting that came from Yijun, who was now standing in front of him with wide eyes and messy hair, sticking up in odd places like he’d been raking his hands through it. Hyeonmin was trailing behind him, looking more bored than anything, and Ilwoo was nowhere to be seen.
“Have you heard?”
Yijun was panicked, jittery. He switched from foot to foot, his hands moving from playing with the hem of his hoodie to picking at his nails to rubbing at his nose in twitchy succession. Jiyeol shifted from his slouched seat and shook his head, clueless but wary.
“Heard what, exactly?”
He wasn’t quite sure what he was expecting, but the jumbled words “We might be getting a new member” certainly wasn’t on the list. His eyes flicked to Hyeonmin in alarm, trying to confirm the claim, but the younger vocalist just shrugged his shoulders and fished his phone out from his pocket, the picture of unhelpfulness as he moved to take a seat next to Jiyeol while Yijun went back to pacing back and forth.
Jiyeol was—concerned, almost. While Yijun was nowhere near in the running to be one of the most level-headed of the four most of the time, to see him so thrown over what sounded like nothing but a rumour was still.. Strange.
Distantly he registered the door being opened and softly pushed to close again, but his attention was squarely on the rapper still standing before him.
“When did you hear this? And from who?”
He knew it sounded borderline interrogative, but he didn’t really know how else he was supposed to figure out where the maknae had heard it from in the first place. Yijun tried to answer and failed, floundering for a few moments before giving up and collapsing onto the sofa; half onto the uncomfortable cushioning and half onto Hyeonmin, who just moved his arms to accommodate Yijun’s head and carried on pressing and swiping at whatever mindless game he’d began to play.
It was Ilwoo that answered for him, from his place behind the trio that had gathered and standing by the kitchen island.
“Jaeyoung-hyung let it slip. Said something about someone thinking about growing us by one. Probably Jitae, you know how he is.”
He moved to the fridge and fished out a can, cracking the tab with a volume that felt like it echoed throughout the whole room. It was only after a long sip that he carried on.
“And that Jaehee kid just got signed here, didn’t he? The actor—or the wannabe one, anyway. The timing’s pretty convenient, so..”
Ilwoo trailed off and let the other three come to the obvious conclusion themselves. Yijun was the first to pipe up again, sitting up in his spot and whirling to face the leader.
“Hyung! I don’t want—are you gonna let them do that? Shove some.. Some rookie actor kid in with us? After how long we’ve all trained?”
Jiyeol understood the frustration. Hell, he felt the same way. If what they were saying was true then he found it to be a badly thought-out decision, and that in itself was an understatement. To throw someone head-first who’d only been in a few one-off drama episodes into the idol world with people that had already spent well over three years together and weren’t exactly forthcoming to the idea of new friends was practically asking for disastrous consequences. But all he did was shrug in the youngest’s direction, standing to join Ilwoo over by counter. He doubted he’d have much say in the matter, and said as much with an indifferent look on his face.
“What am I supposed to do? Protest? Strike? If it’s them that want it, then there won’t be much choice as to whether we want him or not. I might not like it, but I doubt I’ll be able to do anything about it.”
Yijun’s face contorted into something like disbelief, brow furrowing and mouth opening as if to say more, before he simply rolled his eyes and broke the stretching silence with an affronted scoff, pushing himself off of the sofa to retreat to his room; the shoes still on his feet coming down hard on the wooden floors.
Quiet fell over the room once he’d slammed the door behind him, and Jiyeol shifted uncomfortably from one foot to another. Ilwoo took another drink from his can that was probably more sugar than sustenance, that he probably shouldn’t have picked up in the first place. Hyeonmin stayed as silent as he’d been since he’d entered the dorm, the only noise coming from the game he was playing on his phone. Jiyeol took the drink from Ilwoo’s hands and stole some for himself, the singer breaking the silence just after he’d set it down with a hollow-sounding clang that echoed around the kitchen.
“You could’ve said it a little nicer. He looks up to you, you know that.”
They stared at one another for a few long moments, before the leader broke the eye contact.
“Yeah, well.” Was all he offered in reply, trailing off with another half-hearted shrug and tipping back the rest of the can, ignoring how uneasily it settled in the pit of his stomach.
CONFERENCE ROOM⠀⠀13th of December, 2018
Stale boardroom air always seemed to stick to the back of Ilwoo’s throat.
That day wasn’t any different, and he stretched from his seat at the table, trying to break the dead quiet or lighten the mood with a loud yawn. It did next to nothing, only earning him a harsh kick in the shin from Jiyeol next to him. He flipped him the bird when Jaeyoung turned away from the minor disturbance he’d made and went back to mindlessly looking through something or other on his phone, before trying to catch the attention of Hyeonmin and Yijun from their spaces on the opposite side of the table. The latter looked as if he was about to bring up the last-minute granola bar he’d eaten in the car in place of breakfast, and even the ever-lethargic singer looked uncomfortable, hands locked together on the wooden surface in front of him and eyes glazed over.
His sharp hiss made the maknae’s head jerk upwards, and while he was still biting his lip in worry his eyebrow quirked in question. Ilwoo made to whisper something, but was interrupted by the door slamming open, and Yijun’s eyes immediately snapped to the three figures walking through.
The first—Ae Seungdae. Of course. The CEO himself. Ilwoo didn’t think he was all that bad (a little strange, sure, and maybe a touch more eccentric than most), but the leader was of the opposite opinion, and the vocalist had to hold back a grin at the way Jiyeol straightened up in his place and set his face in a not-quite scowl, just the wrong side of professional. Following close behind was Choi Eunhee, their creative director praised by many for achieving such a central position at such a young age. Apart from her obvious talent and even more obvious beauty, Ilwoo didn’t think there was much else to praise—and that wasn’t just him holding a grudge over the time she’d crashed straight into him in one of the many company corridors and then carried on without a word. He was fairly certain she hated all four of them to the core. Something about the news about her now-dead brother getting shoved under the carpet while the four of them got dragged into the centre stage to cover it up. Ilwoo hadn’t really cared all that much about the details, and hadn’t really cared all that much about Yoonhae either.
But anyway. Behind her was a face he hadn’t seen around before but recognised all the same, tall and cold in stature but not in practice; if the way he couldn’t keep his gaze on anything for more than a second and the way his fists were opening and closing constantly were any indications. That was the fresh meat, then.
Sorry—the supposed newest member. The big, fat ‘fuck you’ to the four of them. Ahn Jaehee. Yijun looked on the verge of turning green, the glazed-over look on Hyeonmin’s face had turned to something disapproving, and Jiyeol was trying to stay unaffected. Ilwoo himself chose to focus on the sickness-inducing shade of beige they’d painted the walls.
“Hello, boys. I hope you’re all well. I trust Jaeyoung has been taking care of you.”
If by ‘taking care’ Seungdae meant ‘just barely watching over them and running off any chance he got to do god-knows-what, god-knows-where,’ then Jaeyoung was doing stellar. But instead of letting all of that slip the vocalist simply bit his tongue and nodded in quiet assent. The five-fingered discount he got on all of his contraband for the simple price of keeping his mouth shut was too good of a deal to break for the sake of good morals.
“I assume you know why I’ve gathered you here this evening?”
The CEO had long since made himself comfortable at the head of the table, hands folded in front of him and a pleasant smile on his face. Eunhee was also sat, eyes distant and turned more in the direction of the view from the window than any of them. Jaehee, however, was still standing, gaze still darting around the room and hovering awkwardly—looking more like an intern on his first day of the job than an aspiring idol. He stuck out like a sore thumb with his carefully pressed blazer and suit pants, compared to the four’s casual clothing. Ilwoo almost wanted to laugh.
Not one of them spoke up for a few moments, until Jiyeol fulfilled his leader role and spoke for all of them.
“We’ve heard a few things about someone joining us, if that’s what this is.”
Seungdae’s smile grew, his skin creasing at the corners with the force of it. He spread his palms in something of a ‘ta-da!’ motion and then flourished them in the actor’s direction, whose eyes turned down to his shoes at suddenly being made the centre of attention; rolling his shoulders back uncomfortably.
“You got it in one. this is Ahn Jaehee—do any of you know him already? Starting tomorrow he’ll be training with the four of you, officially debuting just as you will next October.”
Ilwoo doubted Jaehee was expecting a round of applause, but the resounding silence and unimpressed looks he received from the group must not have given him much hope for what his future would hold.
Clearing his throat after the awkwardness suffocating the room had seemingly grown too much for him to handle, the CEO straightened his tie and then stood. He was never too keen on sticking around for long, always moving from one place to the next like he was on a time limit.
Or on the run, he thought to himself after a moment. Ilwoo bit his lip to stop from laughing again.
“Right. I’ll leave you to get acquainted, shall I? Eunhee here will be going over what the plan is for your debut, and afterwards I’m sure Jaeyoung will take you back to the dorm. Or maybe out for dinner, if he wants to give Jaehee a warm welcome?”
And just like that, just as quickly as he’d arrived, Seungdae was gone again. Leaving behind a creative director who hated their guts, a manager who could just barely remember their names on good days, two groupmates who looked as if they were planning Jaehee’s murder (and one—Hyeonmin, because of course—who had seemed to have accepted their collective fate and was back to looking apathetic), and.. Well, he had put it best himself earlier. The fresh meat.
Ilwoo snickered to himself aloud and stood from his chair, extending his hand to the actor. If no one else was going to do it, he might as well take one for the team. Jaehee looked at his outstretched palm confused, for a moment, before slowly reaching to take it in his.
“It’s so nice to meet you, Jaehee-yah.” His tone was saccharine sweet, honey dripping off of the edges. His smile was too fake and his grip was too tight, and he watched as the younger boy winced.
“Let’s get along, hm?”
The singer let him go and returned to his seat, eyes bright even as Eunhee scoffed and Jiyeol nudged him in the side.
A month, at best, was how long he assumed he’d last. Any longer than that would be a miracle.
RECORDING BOOTH⠀⠀21st of February, 2019
Maybe Hyeonmin was just biased. Or his judgement was clouded. He was a vocalist, after all, so maybe he was feeling like he was because for him it just came easier.
But god. Listening to Jaehee sing was like trying to withstand nails on a blackboard.
He could sympathise, in some respects. Being shoved into a group with four people that hated you (or.. Two? Hyeonmin wouldn’t go as far as saying he hated the newcomer, and he was half-sure Ilwoo was more just playing around with him for his own entertainment rather than harbouring any ill will) just under a year before you’d have to debut with them and act as if they were your best friends certainly wasn’t ideal—and even less so when the four of them had already been with each other for some years. Having to learn how to dance and how to sing and how to rap while the rest were far past proficient would’ve probably taken a shot at the singer’s self-esteem had it been him in Jaehee’s position.
Behind the glass and in the booth, Jaehee wailed something that was so off-key Hyeonmin wanted to cover his ears and scream for it to stop. Sure, he could sympathise, but even he—the appointed middle-man, the forever calm one, the most level-headed by far—had to draw a line somewhere.
He tapped Daejin—who, despite being the kindest producer they had by a mile, looked like he was struggling to keep the encouraging smile on his face at what he was hearing—on the shoulder, and motioned towards the door.
“I’m gonna.. Take a break.”
Daejin nodded in understanding and patted him on the back as he turned to go, and as soon as he was out of the room Hyeonmin stopped for a second to rest his forehead on the wall, taking a deep breath in as he did so. He then swivelled on his heel and headed straight for the stairwell. He needed some actual fresh air, to try and get rid of the sound ringing around his head.
His legs ached from the trek down from the fifth floor to the ground, and the stinging February air wasn’t doing his skin any favours from his thin layer of just a hoodie and shirt underneath, But Hyeonmin would rather put up with those than going back into the recording room. he repeated his earlier mantra over and over in his head. He could sympathise. He didn’t hate him. He was probably a nice guy. He couldn’t sing for shit. Scrap that last one.
Maybe he should stop trying to be nice and start acting like Yijun was, blatantly hostile and rude. Maybe he should try out Ilwoo’s newfound hobby of what felt like him trying to make Jaehee either break his nose or burst into tears. Maybe he should copy Jiyeol’s approach of pretending he wasn’t there at all. Being civil—civil. not even pleasant, or amiable, or nice. Just.. Civil—was exhausting.
“Are you alright, Hyeonmin-hyung?”
The sudden voice made him jump, hand coming up to his heart as he bit back a swear. To his surprise it was Jaehee before him, brow furrowed in concern and arms wrapped around himself in a weak attempt at warding off the cold. The singer plastered a smile onto his face and hoped it didn’t look too obviously hollow to the younger boy, nodding in answer to his worries.
“I’m fine, yeah. Are you done with Daejin-hyung? Why’re you out here?”
The (former, he supposed) actor’s expression turned sheepish, and a hand came to distractedly itch at the nape of his neck. “Hyung said we’d probably done enough for the day, and that I could head home. But I wanted to go back with you, so.. He told me you usually come down here on breaks.”
And now, maybe, he should try and find a new hiding place. Not that he wanted to hide from Jaehee, of course. He was perfectly civil. He sympathised. He could do nothing but nod and weakly agree, fishing out his phone to call Jaeyoung and hope that he wasn’t too busy doing any one of his usual far-from-work-related activities to come and pick them up. Or at least get someone else to do it for him.
“What do you want?”
His voice was raspy, obviously tired and irritated, but at least his speech wasn’t too slurred—a good sign, as Hyeonmin had come to learn.
“Can you pick us up? Me and Jaehee.”
There was a pause, and then Jaeyoung heaved a sigh. The singer could hear the manager’s eye roll through the screen, but what he could also hear was the jingling of his car keys, and he smiled to himself.
“We’re round the back. Thanks, hyung.”
He hung up before he could hear the muttered ‘whatever’ he already knew he’d be receiving in reply, and shot a thumbs-up to Jaehee, who perked up and smiled. Hyeonmin was dreading returning his phone to his pocket, though, because then that meant he’d have to talk.
They both stayed quiet for a few long moments, wind whipping through their hair and the faint sound of cars rushing past filling the space. Jaehee piped up unexpectedly, face painted with something Hyeonmin couldn’t quite recognise.
“Do you.. Do you think I’ll fit in with you and the rest, hyung? When we debut?”
With the risk of making himself sound bad, his instinctive answer was no. He didn’t say it out loud, didn’t say it straight to his face, but the thought was there all the same. Two members that hate you. Can’t sing for shit. The crowds would eat him alive if Yijun didn’t get to him first. He wanted to say it, wanted to take a leaf straight out of Ilwoo’s book and speak his mind without a care in the world for all the repercussions that would come afterwards, but he didn’t.
Instead he stood there in the cold, goosebumps rising on his arm and the eyes of the new maknae trained on his face, anticipating an answer he didn’t know how to give.
“You’ll be fine.” Was what he finally settled on, muttering it more in the direction of the gravel beneath his feet than at Jaehee. The lie was crushed under his trainers when Jaeyoung pulled up in the distance, and left behind to be blown away by the wind as Jaehee hurried to follow him.
PRACTICE ROOM⠀⠀8th of May, 2019
Yijun wasn’t so sure he could take it anymore.
Six months after Jaehee had turned up and thrown a wedge into everything, kicked a crack down the middle of what was going to be perfect. Five months until debut, until they were forced into the public eye even more than they already had been, were performing on music shows and putting on personas and he had to pretend to like the glaringly obvious odd one out.
They were going over the choreography again, tweaking things as they went for what suited them best. He was running too hot, an irritating itch under his skin that he couldn’t relieve being forced to go ignored as he focused solely on releasing all his long-stored frustration into the routine. One, two, three, four. The beat drilled itself into his head, the voice of whoever had sung the demo echoing in his ears. It was so loud he still heard it playing even when they’d paused and called for a break, crawling into all corners of his mind.
Jiyeol tossed him a bottle, and he caught it without thanks; passing it from one hand to the other while he pushed his hoodie off and tossed it to the side. It took one sharp twist to remove the lid, and while he tipped his head back he saw Jaehee sidling up to Hyeonmin, saying something Yijun was unable to listen in on but what made the older singer throw him a nod and half-hearted smile for. The former maknae scowled and wiped his lips with a little more force than necessary, chucking the water bottle in the general direction he had his hoodie and trying not to storm over too loudly. He felt Hyeonmin jump slightly under the arm he easily slung over his shoulder, but he relaxed soon enough as Yijun tugged him into his side and aimed a tight smile Jaehee’s way.
“Hi, Jaehee, hyung. What’re we talking about?”
Hyeonmin hummed, his own arm resting comfortably on the rapper’s waist as he let him tug him around as he pleased. “Our Jaehee was just asking if I think he’s improved—and he has, don’t you think?”
It was a push. Subtle, as Hyeonmin always was, but a push nonetheless. An opportunity for Yijun to make the first steps towards accepting Jaehee as what it was now clear he was going to be: the fifth member. part of the group, of the team they had made. A permanent fixture he’d have to see most days of the year, and not someone he could push and push and push away until they snapped and backed off.
The rapper held back an eye roll at the use of ‘our’ Jaehee, and indulged Hyeonmin with his slow nod and widening of his smile in the maknae’s direction.
“Oh, for sure. In leaps and bounds.”
He himself didn’t believe a word coming out of his own mouth, but it seemed to please the younger boy well enough, as he smiled back and then wandered over to his own bottle. Once he was out of earshot, Hyeonmin's hand slid under his shirt and Yijun yelped as he pinched the skin of his waist, hard.
“Hyung! What was that for?”
The vocalist levelled him with an unimpressed look, and Yijun wilted. “You couldn’t be more unconvincing if you tried. Isn’t six months long enough to hate someone? Can’t you lay off a bit?”
That time Yijun did roll his eyes, releasing the elder from his grip and crossing his arms defiantly. He didn’t dignify him with an answer, because Hyeonmin already knew it was no. The singer huffed in defeat and let him be with a shake of his head, moving back into position when the instructor called for it.
In leaps and bounds. He thought over his own words as the song began to play once more, trusting his own muscle memory to keep him in time while he let his eyes slide along the mirror until they found the maknae’s figure. It didn’t sound right in his ears, but he did have to admit that Jaehee had improved from where he’d started: the bottom. But leaps and bounds was a stretch and a half. One, two, three, four. A misstep, a move out of beat, a moment of hesitation that caused a chain reaction of fuck-ups. He was just barely getting by, and Yijun felt a smirk spread across his face.
He didn’t want to lay off. If there was one thing he was known for, it was holding a grudge. Against the boy who’d shoved in front of him in line in the cafeteria when he was ten, against the staff member who’d been more interested in whatever was on her clipboard when he’d shown up to audition, against Jiyeol for what he’d said six months ago. Against Jaehee, for showing up when he wasn’t wanted and trying to shove his way in between them all, trying to fit in when it was so crystal clear to Yijun that he just.. Didn’t. Not in any way possible, not for a single second.
I don’t like you, he wanted to say, burned and ached and itched to say. You can’t sing and you can’t dance and you can’t rap, and I’ve never watched your dramas. You took Hyeonmin’s room and you drink all of Ilwoo’s soda and I don’t like you. Jiyeol’s always fixing what you fucked up and you put your shoes where I used to. You look like change and I hate change and I hate you. I want you to go.
He didn’t, though. He kept all of it inside, and waited for Jaehee to do something that would give him the excuse to snap, to let it all out. To make one too many missteps, to fall out of time and throw them all off their rhythm.
It would feel all too good when he got to do that. Like taking a breath of fresh air, or mastering a new choreo, or finally getting a verse down perfect. The thought made another smile rise to Yijun’s face, and he snapped his eyes away from where they were still trained on Jaehee’s figure in the mirror. When another break was allowed he was by Hyeonmin’s side before the new youngest could get a look in, and even if the singer gave him an odd look for how quickly he’d bounced back from his sulky mood prior, he let him tug him around and spin him in circles however he pleased, trying to pretend he didn’t have a smile on his face.
The rapper caught Jaehee’s eyes from over Hyeonmin’s shoulder, and grinned wide. It took a moment, but he reciprocated, although his was considerably smaller; his unease obvious.
I don’t like you, he thought, still keeping their eyes locked even as he carried on messing around with Hyeonmin. And I’ll make sure you know that, soon.

Certified enemies to lovers lover here, so for the BL romance trope ask game, could you tell me about 1?
Ooh bestie thank you for giving me an excuse to air my grievances about this trope. Because it is SO RARELY DONE RIGHT. Call me controversial, but I believe a true execution of this trope requires the pair to be actual enemies and the narrative to put in the work and show how that relationship would evolve over time, taking them on a believable journey from hate to love.
Most so-called ETL dramas devolve in one of two ways: 1) the "enemies" are revealed to be not actually enemies at all (usually via the reveal that at least one of them is actually a long-term piner, Bad Buddy is a prime example) or 2) have a weak "enemy" set up to begin with, and very quickly move out of the enemy dynamic to transition to standard cute bl fluff (ala Big Dragon). This doesn't make them bad shows! But it does make them weak examples of this trope despite the way they are often held up as exemplars.
There have been precious few true ETL bls. Really only two good ones come to mind:
History 3: Trapped
Tang Yi and Meng Shao Fei are enemies, on the real real. A cop and a gangster who are trying to outsmart each other. Shao Fei's actual job is to take Tang Yi down. And their relationship begins to change via a series of Situations that believably shift their relationship over time. It all feels authentic and because we see how and why their feelings change over time, it is completely believable and rootable. And crucially, the show never forgets the complications of who they are and the obligations they each have--which is why we get a realistic ending for them that results in Tang Yi's incarceration and an indefinite separation.
Semantic Error
The enemy set up in this one isn't quite as strong as Trapped, but it has the crucial element: these two actually, truly do not like each other when they first meet, and they are set up as adversaries when Sangwoo torpedoes Jaeyoung's graduation plans. They only start to like each other because Jaeyoung is enacting a revenge plan that puts them in close proximity to get to know and understand each other better, and we see how their feelings shift as they are forced to work together and connect across their differences. It's a really smart, zippy little ETL that uses the trope well for conflict.
Send me a number and I’ll post the best and/or my fave show that uses that trope

Ooh I never ask for anything in terms of prompts but I will for Semantic Error. Basically, that hug in episode 7 did me in. I live for Sangwoo leaning wholly into it with that content expression. Idk how many times I rewatched that part. Can you please do something like a touch starved Sangwoo who has just realized how much he loves cuddling/hugging and how safe he feels with Jaeyoung? But of course, him being Sangwoo, he tries to hide how much he actually wants it? But fluff too. I'm fully open to whatever you do with it beyond that, and if it works to be added with another prompt that's totally fine too.
For a human’s survival | AO3
Humans needed at least four hugs a day for survival.
Sang Woo didn’t remember where he had read that fact or why he had cataloged that information away in his brain. He wasn’t even sure if it was true. His fingers itched to type the question in his browser to get answers, but he knew that while Jae Young appeared to work on his drawing pad, he was very quick to put his attention on Sang Woo. Sang Woo had no idea how it was possible, but Jae Young was almost psychic-like in his ability to sense when something Sang Woo did would be interesting to him.
A human needed four hugs a day for survival.
Sang Woo leaned back on the couch and pressed his lips together to hide a smile when almost immediately Jae Young slid down a bit to lean himself more solid against him.
“We really should think about creating something like a mascot thingy for our game,” Jae Young mumbled, and Sang Woo looked over to him to see that he had already scribbled some rough drawings of what he had in mind.
Sang Woo made a sound that was neither confirmation nor rejection.
They were the perfect height for hugs. That wasn’t a fact Sang Woo had only realized recently. Every time they stood close Sang Woo’s eyes travelled towards Jae Young’s shoulders. How he would and did perfectly fit there.
“Maybe like a baby Brussels Sprout,” Jae Young said, and Sang Woo realized he had missed part of their conversation.
“Why would we need a mascot?”
Jae Young sighed and threw him a quick look.
“We already have enough character designs for our game,” Sang Woo added, and Jae Young moved a bit away from him which he didn’t like, but their legs were thrown over each other which meant Jae Young wouldn’t be able to move away much, not with a bit of complicated limb-untangling.
“It wouldn’t appear that often, just a fun little side character. People would find it cute.”
Sang Woo didn’t get it.
“I don’t like Brussels Sprouts”, he said, and Jae Young threw his pencil at him.
+
Jae Young didn’t hug halfway.
Sang Woo had seen and experienced through his peers that awful half-hug thing. Crushing your shoulders against each other, which was unnecessary and hurtful when you could just shake hands or bow. Patting each other against the back awkwardly while your upper bodies didn’t touch…
Jae Young hugged with his whole body. He embraced Sang Woo with both arms, engulfing him in warmth and comfort. Sang Woo was able to put his face against his shoulder, to sometimes bury his nose in the crook of Jae Young’s neck to keep it warm on a cold day. Song Woo liked it the most when Jae Young put one of his hands around his neck, big and warm. His thumb would brush the tiny hairs on Song Woo’s neck and Song Woo felt like he was floating.
Since they got together the number of hugs had decreased, though. They didn’t spend that much time apart, at least not so long that meeting each other again would require a long hug. The kisses had increased. Which Song Woo liked. He liked the goodbye kisses, liked the welcome kisses even more.
Someone might say that the way they embraced each other while they kissed counted as a hug.
Sang Woo disagreed. They were fundamentally different.
But… for some odd reason, Sang Woo felt hesitant to bring it up. His desire for simple hugs. He knew himself as someone who worked for or asked for things he wanted. Jae Young had thrown an axe into his resolutions a couple of times but like in any other parts of his life Sang Woo liked to clarify things in their relationship.
Which didn’t mean Jae Young wasn’t prone to break the rules Sang Woo made. Gleefully and too successfully.
Still. Sang Woo couldn’t find a reason or made up a scenario in his mind where Jae Young would disagree to a demand for more hugs. He wouldn’t laugh at Sang Woo…
He would. He would smile very smugly while he would hug Sang Woo as tight as possible. He would also most likely act like a human backpack for the weeks to come and Sang Woo had to admit that he didn’t hate the idea.
Was he shy? Or embarrassed? Sang Woo couldn’t name the emotions running through him. Just that something stopped him from talking to Jae Young.
+
And with knowledge came awareness, came a kind of hyper-focus to sense the opportunities to get a hug. A perfect hug. A Jae Young hug. Which meant that almost 99% were perfect. Sang Woo now knew the distinctive sound Jae Young’s leather jacket made, the creak of the material when Jae Young squeezed him quickly, but strongly before he released him.
Sometimes Jae Young would step to the side, their bodies still touching, would leave one arm around Sang Woo’s shoulders and hold him tight to his side, steering him towards the direction he wanted them to go. Sang Woo thought about burying himself closer into the embrace, not a care where Jae Young was walking them.
Sometimes Jae Young would take a step back, would grab him by the shoulders, and just beam at him. Sang Woo might find poems confusing, but in very rare moments he thought he could understand why someone might want to write the onslaught of words down that popped up in his head when Jae Young smiled at him like that. To have them travel from his brain, over his face down his arms, into his fingers, bleeding from the pen into the paper, so there was written proof of all of this.
He didn’t do it, but he understood why someone would.
+
Sunlight poured through the window and colored some of Jae Young’s hair red. Sang Woo wiggled his toes and a lazy swirl of arousal traveled through his body, pooled in his belly, like a little happy reminder of what they had done a couple of minutes ago. He felt like he could fall asleep like this even though he hadn’t been tired prior to Jae Young pouncing on him.
Jae Young’s finger moved slowly over his back, painting little figures. Sang Woo sometimes thought that he didn’t even realize he moved his fingers so much. His brain never shut down, like he had to express everything that popped up in his head immediately.
Sang Woo’s head laid on Jae Young’s chest and he tried not to wiggle away and dress himself because it was midday. He liked sex. He liked sex with Jae Young. There hadn’t been a lot of persuasion, if any, to fall on the sofa with Jae Young. Still. It was midday. He had ideas and expectations in his head – about sex – and one of them was that you did it when it was dark outside. Also, that you would do it on a bed. And that you didn’t cuddle under a blanket that wasn’t able to cover two grown men on the couch, stark naked, afterwards.
It made something under his skin itch that they didn’t follow these rules. But Jae Young was good at scratching that itch, like when they had done it at night, in a bed, but Sang Woo hadn’t been able to focus because Jae Young hadn’t pulled off his shirt and sex was something you did naked. And Jae Young had laughed at him when he had pointed it out, full of delight, with crinkles around his eyes, his lips red from kisses. Then he had done some weird moves that he had called stripping and the itch had been gone. Three days later Jae Young surprised him in their bathroom and seduced him while they had been fully clothed.
Revelations. Jae Young showed him a lot of new truths about himself.
“You cold?”
Sang Woo stopped in his attempt to press himself even closer against Jae Young.
“No,” he said.
Jae Young sighed and brought his other arm down to huddle Sang Woo closer. Maybe he didn’t believe him.
“I like this,” Jae Young sighed. He raised one leg, put it over Sang Woo’s hips and effectively trapped him with his body. He squeezed Sang Woo quickly and before Sang Woo could complain about the strength of the hug, Jae Young said: “You’re so clingy lately, it’s great.”
Sang Woo stiffened. And then cursed himself for reacting. Jae Young got still and then Sang Woo got still and his thoughts raced a mile per hour.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Wrong thing to say, his mind told him. Alarm after alarm after alarm went off in his head. He had sounded like he was accusing Jae Young of accusing him about something.
Jae Young wiggled away from him, which meant, with their current closeness, that their faces were now a few centimeters apart. Their noses almost touched.
“Why are you acting weird?” And Jae Young had stopped declaring Sang Woo’s character traits as weird, or to say, those that were a part of Sang Woo that not even the most adventurous, most scandalous sex couldn’t erase. Jae Young accepted him and the things others would call ‘quirks’: That’s why when he called something Sang Woo did weird it held more meaning, more confusion, concern.
Sang Woo wanted to break out of the embrace even though this kind of embrace made him generally braver.
“Humans need four hugs a day for survival,” he said. Said like they were sitting next to each other working on their game, and he needed to info dump on Jae Young before he could concentrate on coding.
“Four hugs,” he repeated himself.
“Okay.”
Jae Young waited and Sang Woo stared at the tiny mole between the hairs of Jae Young’s left eyebrow. He had never seen that mole before. Something new to discover every day and…
“Would we wither away or what kind of survival are we talking about?”
An icy block crumbled away from Sang Woo’s lungs.
“I don’t know,” he had to admit. He wanted to break out of the embrace to see Jae Young’s face more clearly. Was he confused? Was he connecting the dots, was he—
“Is that the reason why you’re so clingy lately?”
“I’m not clingy,” Sang Woo protested. He was, he is.
“Are you saving me from withering away? From the cold touch of loneliness?”
“Hyung…” Sang Woo was not impressed. But Jae Young cackled and brought him back into his arms, his legs too, a full body hug, or more like being captured by an octopus.
“Should we count them from now on?”, Jae Young asked, whispered it into the soft skin behind Sang Woo’s ear, nibbled the question into the slope of his jaw and Sang Woo shuttered. “A minimum of four hugs a day?”
And he knew, right? That it was easy and frightening to ask for what he wanted, that he would rather hide behind a sarcastic remark, but wanted to melt into Jae Young’s compliance, his patience, the delightful way he loved.
“I will count them,” he muttered, his hands on Jae Young’s back, digging his fingers, pressing, a threat, a promise. Jae Young laughed, the laughter of success, of amusement and maybe there was an article about the importance of laughter in a relationship, too, Sang Woo thought, basking in the warmth of Jae Young’s hug.
end.

Semantic Error Omegaverse AU
Been back on my Semantic Error bullshit the past week and I can NOT stop thinking about how perfectly these two would fit an omegaverse au like i'm obsessed!! Jaeyoung is obviously an alpha, however, a lot of people assume that Sangwoo is a beta but he is, in fact, an omega! So enjoy 4.5k words of me describing in excruciating detail what I would write if I wrote this fic <3
I can't decide between making this a world where everyone wears scent blockers/is on suppressants or letting Jaeyoung know immediately that Sangwoo's an omega (because betas don't have to wear scent blockers so wearing them would be a dead giveaway but I could make the sleight of hand work with suppressants HOWEVER I think a core part of this au would be that people who look at Sangwoo see a cold, driven man and just assume he's a beta).
Obviously, I would make this au deliciously tropey and fit in ALL of That Good Shit but I am very taken with the idea/exploration that Sangwoo actually enjoys being an omega. I think masking his subgender would be useful to him but when it's just him or his friends/family, he is very comfortable with who he is-- he obviously does not believe in any of the stereotypes/misconceptions that paint omegas as inferior or needing protecting or only good for one thing or whatever cliche you wanna throw in there.
Alright, we'll say unmated people are expected to be on suppressants so that solves that issue-- this comes with the caveat that omegas/alphas still have two cycles a year in order to keep everything properly maintained (compared to idk the regular 4 cycles a year). I'll hc that it's like a daily pill and it wears off toward the end of the day and that's when individuals may choose scent blockers if they're going to be out longer but obviously in this au, like going to a club with a scent on display would be like The Whole Point in trying to attract someone so i'll digress.
ANYWAY like I said, Sangwoo is very driven and still comes off as very cold so most people assume he's a beta. That suits Sangwoo just fine. He's in no mood for romance and finds alphas fucking insufferable-- always posturing, acting like they're god's gift to the world (to omegas specifically) and he doesn't have time for distractions. however, and I personally think this is important to tie his personality into this AU– he actively enjoys being an omega.
His parents knew before he presented that he’d be an omega– he enjoyed nesting with his father and if he cares about someone, has a habit of doting on them. Sangwoo knows and values the importance of biology right so it fits that when he does have free time, then he indulges shamelessly in his nature. So, for this AU, I love to think that his bed is a very warm and inviting nest, that he enjoys baking (like I’ve written in previous fics, it fits his analytical mind AND he was a sweet tooth and for this, it’s a way he cares for people).
And while he’s never had a partner for his heats, Sangwoo does enjoy them. With an acknowledgement that this could get a little messy re: subgenders/biology, this is first and foremost a pure fluff fic and so–
I think heats, particularly for this verse, can be both sexual (need to procreate) and simply biological (need to bond with mate). Again in keeping with the show, Sangwoo puts an abundance of meaning on biology. So while he doesn’t have a mate to bond or produce offspring with during his heats as an unmated omega, there’s still something about them that is deeply meaningful to him.
I hc that they’re less sexual for him (until Jaeyoung lol) and serves as more of an opportunity to connect with his own inner omega. He spends a few days every six months resting in his nest– or broadly, his apartment, where he allows himself to not think about homework or anything. It’s just him being. He bakes, sleeps, watches tv, reads… it makes him feel incredibly centered. And yes, he does own a knotting toy and it is ONLY during his heats that he begrudgingly admits that maybe alphas do have a use after all lmao.
To bring Jaeyoung into it and get this AU started properly, Jaeyoung figures Sangwoo’s a beta– though, the instant before Sangwoo opens his mouth and flays him alive, Jaeyoung does have the thought that Sangwoo has to be an omega– small (much smaller than Jaeyoung at least even if he’s a tall omega), beautiful, and there’s just something about him that compels Jaeyoung.
Of course, after that first conversation, Jaeyoung is compelled by Sangwoo, alright– to be an absolute menace and get his revenge. Lol.
The two get closer, following canon, and Jaeyoung doesn’t realize that Sangwoo is actually an omega until after he saves him from the Quickst asshole. In this AU, Sangwoo wanted to leave because the guy was being a dick, yes, but also because he was well aware that it was getting late and his suppressants were about to wear off– hence, his scent would start to escape.
He refuses to admit that Jaeyoung stepping in kinda make his omega preen– they’re in tune but Sangwoo still thinks that his omega can be a bit baffling (though, he’s only started to really think so since Jaeyoung stepped into the picture).
That’s also mostly the reason Sangwoo doesn’t want to let Jaeyoung into his apartment. He doesn’t let people into his apartment because he’s private yes but also because he knows his scent is undeniable. Still, he’s not an asshole (and, both he and his omega trust Jaeyoung for…. Some reason) so he does end up letting him in.
Jaeyoung is immediately overwhelmed as soon as he steps inside Sangwoo’s apartment. He’d thought, for a minute when he grabbed Sangwoo’s hand and dragged him out of the bar, that he’d caught the faintest edge of a mouthwatering scent but he’d been preoccupied. It becomes glaringly obvious now, though, that it was Sangwoo. That vague scent from the bar is nothing compared the rich, overwhelming scent he’s confronted with now.
If I lean into the trope, I guess I’d make it something that could be sharp– citrus, maybe, that can be sour and sharp but turns sweet and soft when Sangwoo is comfortable. I think that would fit his personality. For Jaeyoung, definitely something earthy, complimentary to citrus– though I’m not sure what that would necessarily be lmao.
Anyway, Jaeyoung is reeling but Sangwoo is business as usual though Jaeyoung swears he sees the shell of his ear turning red. Jaeyoung is a gentleman, though, despite how he’s acted with Sangwoo and he doesn’t comment on the scent (it would be declasse and Sangwoo is actually helping him, he’s let Jaeyoung in and– especially now that he knows he’s an omega– it’s an incredibly meaningful gesture that Jaeyoung and his alpha appreciate).
He doesn’t bring it up until Sangwoo is tending to the cut on his arm and this is the conversation that turns the tide. Jaeyoung is tentative but undeniably curious, asking Sangwoo why he hides his subgender, letting everyone assume he’s a beta. Jaeyoung is surprised, yet again, when Sangwoo matter-of-factly tells him that he doesn’t hate his subgender, actually enjoys it. It isn’t an inconvenience or whatever. It’s something Sangwoo likes about himself.
They’re both stripped down in the quiet of Sangwoo’s living room and come closer to reaching that middle ground. Through it all, Jaeyoung can’t stop thinking about how delicious Sangwoo’s scent is and how he was right to make that long ago guess. It’s so obvious, especially now that Sangwoo isn’t wearing a hat– his lush mouth, delicate features, making it so clear.
Jaeyoung had a red hoodie and leaves it at Sangwoo’s that night. He might not realize it at the time but it’s, obviously, his alpha’s way of staking a claim on Sangwoo, placing his scent in the omega’s space.
Jaeyoung figures Sangwoo will return it to him the next day and forgets about it when he doesn’t.
Sangwoo for his part, closes the door behind Jaeyoung when Yuna calls and slumps against it. It was so late and Jaeyoung’s own suppressants had started wearing off. Sangwoo had never cared for alpha scents, despite supposed biological compatibility– they were too aggressive, altogether unpleasant and stinging in his nose.
Jaeyoung’s, however, was different. It wasn’t dark or musky but something lush, deep with just a hint of sweetness that made Sangwoo inexplicably want to bury his nose in Jaeyoung’s neck to tease it out further, until it was all he could smell, surrounding him.
He’d expected Jaeyoung to be an ass about finding out he was an omega. While Sangwoo didn’t hide it, he let people make their assumptions. Jaeyoung had surprised him, though.
When Sangwoo finally straightens, his eyes immediately lock on the red hoodie laying over the arm of his couch. He frowns deeply, glaring at it. He should return it to Jaeyoung tomorrow.
He doesn’t.
And a few weeks later, when Sangwoo’s preheat starts, he’s heading out the door when his gaze snags on the hoodie, still in the exact same spot. It’s Thursday and he’s glad that his heat won’t disrupt his classes this time around. Thanking the fact that he always has a buffer in his schedule, Sangwoo reaches out for the hoodie and raises it to his nose. Jaeyoung’s scent isn’t nearly as present as it was that night but it’s still detectable when he buries his face in it. Something in him calms, preens a little at the scent of an alpha who Sangwoo can admit he… doesn’t quite despise.
It is fall, the morning chilly, Sangwoo rationalizes as he takes his backpack off to put the hoodie on. Plus, Jaeyoung had told him just yesterday that, unfortunately, he had a meeting with an advisor and wouldn’t be able to annoy him today, so there’s no chance that Jaeyoung will find out that Sangwoo is wearing this monstrosity of a hoodie.
As soon as he slips it on, Sangwoo finds himself letting out the quietest purr. It’s oversized, hanging down to mid-thigh, and feels like it’s wrapping him in pure warmth. Lifting the hood to cover his hair, Sangwoo feels content, like going to class during preheat won’t be so miserable after all (for all he enjoys being an omega, it is sometimes inconvenient– like when he’s just in preheat, hoodie able to hide the scent blockers, and has to go to class because there’s a quiz).
It’s just his luck that he leaves class, hoodie still over his head, to run into a wall– that turns out to be Jang Jaeyoung. Startled, Sangwoo’s head whips up and he immediately stills at the look in Jaeyoung’s eyes.
Jaeyoung, for his part, wrapped his meeting up earlier than expected and found himself on the way to meet Sangwoo almost subconsciously. If he thought his need to bother Sangwoo was bad before he found out he was an omega, it’s been downright awful now that he knows. Jaeyoung finds himself seeking Sangwoo out even more often, anytime he has a free moment and knows where Sangwoo is. Yuna calls him a whipped alpha and Jaeyoung can’t even defend himself. Now, seeing Sangwoo in his glaringly red hoodie– seeing an omega he can’t stop thinking about in his hoodie– Jaeyoung’s alpha wants nothing more than to press Sangwoo against the wall and scent him, cover him completely so that no one can see how cute Sangwoo looks while at the same time wanting to preen that Sangwoo deigned to wear something of his in public, at all really.
Sangwoo stiffly replies that he wore it because it was cold this morning and it was sitting right there on the couch. Jaeyoung has his Sangwoo Smile on his face, the one that’s so wide it has to hurt, eyes crinkled in pure delight. They’ve grown closer the past few weeks, guards/defenses inching down, and so Jaeyoung warns Sangwoo, “I’m going to touch you now,” and lays a surprisingly gentle arm over Sangwoo’s shoulders.
To his surprise, Sangwoo doesn’t shake him off. Instead, he leans into Jaeyoung’s warmth– just a little but Jaeyoung, of course, notices. Something in him growls, protectively, happily, at the action.
Sangwoo doesn’t notice the stares as he and Jaeyoung make their way across campus. He knows he aced his quiz but a headache is building behind his eyes, a dull ache starting up in his middle. Typical preheat symptoms but still annoying. It’s cloudy, wind chilly, and he shivers deeper into Jaeyoung’s side, sleeves covering his hands and arms wrapped around his middle.
Jaeyoung looks down, frowning. Sangwoo looks even smaller like this and it’s adorable but unlike him. Looking closer, he sees a flush on Sangwoo’s cheeks.
“Sangwoo,” he asks, “Are you feeling okay?”
Sangwoo shrugs and explains matter-of-factly that his preheat has started.
Jaeyoung’s eyes widen though Sangwoo doesn’t see his reaction.
Jaeyoung isn’t sure what he’s feeling– there’s surprise, that Sangwoo just admitted his heat was right around the corner. He doesn’t know why, but Jaeyoung thought he’d be shy about it. There’s his baser reaction which he isn’t necessarily proud of but can admit, at least to himself– he has the immediate desire to be Sangwoo’s heat partner. Jaeyoung has a need to see what Sangwoo is like during his heat– is he as demanding as he is regularly or does it turn into neediness, edges softened?
Jaeyoung would like whatever way Sangwoo acts during his heat, he knows, but his curiosity is suddenly ignited like a wildfire. And yes, there’s the sudden visions of Sangwoo under him, eyes blurred with want.
But Jaeyoung’s also driven with a need to protect, to care for– and it’s this that he acts on. He steers Sangwoo off campus after asking when his heat will hit in earnest and Sangwoo replying the morning. It’s lunchtime now and Jaeyoung takes Sangwoo to a nearby restaurant.
Sangwoo doesn’t display his usual stubbornness, prickly exterior melting into something more agreeable as he seems willing enough to let Jaeyoung lead the way. It’s a nice change of pace, Jaeyoung can admit, but he knows he’d miss Sangwoo’s mulishness if this was how it always was lol.
They sit at a small table in the corner and Jaeyoung knows the ahjumma who runs the place. She coos over Sangwoo and Jaeyoung’s surprised, again, when Sangwoo lets her.
She returns with hearty portions and teases them both– something about Jaeyoung finding the cutest omega in Seoul or telling Sangwoo that if Jaeyoung proves to be a useless alpha to let her know and she’ll straighten him up.
The food is hot and smells delicious and Jaeyoung doesn’t even think before he reaches for the first mandu and lifts it up to Sangwoo’s mouth. Sangwoo, for his part, does spare a moment to think about shoving Jaeyoung away.
He rolls his eyes internally, thinks of Jaeyoung as an overzealous alpha– just because he knows he’s in preheat doesn’t mean he has to feed him what is this, the joseon era– but Sangwoo’s omega is closer to the surface than usual and all he really feels after a pinprick of annoyance is warmth. He feels a little miserable and he trusts this alpha– like him too, he can admit to himself if not aloud yet– and he accepts the bite of food from Jaeyoung’s chopsticks.
Jaeyoung’s lips part in surprise at Sangwoo’s easy acquiescence. His alpha and him watch Sangwoo chew carefully, pride and satisfaction in his eyes. The meal continues like that– Jaeyoung feeding Sangwoo the best pieces of chicken, the crispest bites of vegetables– until Sangwoo finally waves him away, full.
Jaeyoung swiftly finishes the meal off and it’s only when the check comes that a hint of Sangwoo’s usual snappishness reappears. He insists on paying, then at least paying half, but Jaeyoung doesn’t have any of it.
Sangwoo rolls his eyes at Jaeyoung being an annoying alpha but Jaeyoung doesn’t pay it any attention, just returning his arm to where it was resting over Sangwoo’s shoulders as he guides them out of the restaurant with a cheery wave to the ahjumma.
They makes small talk on the way back to their apartment building about a new movie or the upcoming deadline for Veggie Venturer. Sangwoo doesn’t even notice until they’re at his door that Jaeyoung had carried his backpack from the restaurant.
At Sangwoo’s door, Jaeyoung finds it even more difficult than usual to turn to his own door and leave Sangwoo. Sangwoo’s leaning against his door and Jaeyoung stands just in front of him.
They watch each other for a moment and Sangwoo has an urge to ask Jaeyoung something but it’s foolish, too much he knows. But still he wants it and so does his omega. His usual defenses are softened by preheat and by Jang Jaeyoung. He’s already learned that’s a devastating combination.
“Hyung,” he asks voice quiet and unsure.
Jaeyoung hums, eyes flitting from the fullness of Jaeyoung’s cheeks, to the way his hoodie sleeves completely cover Sangwoo’s hands. It’s too soon, Jaeyoung thinks, to look at Sangwoo and see him as mine.
“Will you scent me?”
That was not what Jaeyoung was expecting and his gaze snaps up to meet Sangwoo’s even as his alpha preens.
It’s not even a question and Jaeyoung hates the way Sangwoo’s gaze is shadowed with uncertainty, a hint of insecurity. It’s the first time he’s ever seen that look on Sangwoo and he never wants to see it again– displeased that it’s this question that would bring it out, like Jaeyoung wouldn’t love to, like he isn’t fighting the urge to immediately bury his face in Sangwoo’s neck.
He leans down and watches enraptured as the flush on Sangwoo’s cheek grows deeper. “Are you sure, Sangwoo? If this is the preheat talking, if you wouldn’t ask otherwise–”
“I’m sure,” comes Sangwoo’s voice, quiet but sure. He bites his lip, looking away. “I don’t know what it’s like for other omegas but I don’t– I’m still in possession of all my faculties. I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t want it.”
Jaeyoung is still for a moment before exhaling. He smiles, something softer than his usual smirking grin. “Then I’d love to, Sangwoo-ah.”
He goes to lean down just to be stopped by Sangwoo’s hand on his chest. Confused, Sangwoo just shakes his head and gestures to his door. “Not out here, hyung. It isn’t decent.”
Jaeyoung’s nodding along distractedly before the words catch up and he steels himself.
Because seeing a Sangwoo in preheat is a lot. Being asked to scent Sangwoo makes his head spin. But getting to scent Sangwoo in Sangwoo’s apartment– did he mention he’s in preheat? Omegas are notoriously protective of their spaces when they’re in heat and Jaeyoung knows the simple fact of Sangwoo asking him to scent him should have been clue enough but Sangwoo inviting him in, sends his heart skyrocketing.
As soon as the door opens, Jaeyoung inhales sharply. It isn’t overwhelming but it’s present– Sangwoo’s scent is deeper. Nothing like it will be during actual heat but the hint is there, something headier in the usual mouthwatering scent that Jaeyoung has only caught once.
Sangwoo closes the door, leaning against it again, this time inside the apartment. He peels the scent blocker off with little fuss, stuffing it in his pocket. He then reaches out, wraps careful fingers in the soft material of Jaeyoung’s sweater and pulls him closer, gently, like he’s afraid Jaeyoung doesn’t really want to come.
How preposterous, Jaeyoung thinks.
Before he can even open his mouth, Sangwoo is offering, “You can touch me, hyung,” and Jaeyoung spares a moment to wonder how he’s going to survive this.
Slowly, Jaeyoung wraps an arm low around Sangwoo’s back, stepping closer. He leans down and Sangwoo’s scent makes him dizzy already. It’s sweet, calm, and Jaeyoung has the overwhelming need to let it soak into him, wants to cover it with his own scent and see how they mingle. It’s made all the better by the fact that Sangwoo clearly wants this, too, that he asked Jaeyoung for his scent– that he wants Jaeyoung’s scent on him, at all but during his heat.
He can’t help the quiet grumble as his nose makes contact with Sangwoo’s neck. He takes his time, carefully presses against Sangwoo’s scent gland, and thanks to how close they are, Jaeyoung can feel Sangwoo melt into him.
Sangwoo tilts his neck to give him easier access and Jaeyoung lets loose a little more, touch firming up, incessant. He can smell the way his own scent intertwines with Sangwoo’s– something fresh and bright.
It takes him a moment to clue in but Sangwoo’s started purring, a hand lifted into Jaeyoung hair to keep him in place like Jaeyoung would want to be anywhere except right here, mind clouding over with Sangwoo’s scent.
They lose track of time but eventually Jaeyoung pulls back, dazed, just to see Sangwoo looking like he’s about to melt into the floor, pliant and soft.
“Thank you, hyung.”
Jaeyoung’s voice is low, hoarse. “Anytime, Sangwoo.”
Jaeyoung leaves just a few minutes later, taken aback but not at all unhappy when Sangwoo suddenly calls out and darts up to kiss his cheek before slamming the door in his face.
The weekend is torturous knowing Sangwoo’s in heat on the other side of the wall they share. He leaves food for him outside and tries to focus on a project he’s working on with Yuna.
It’s early the next week before he sees Sangwoo, who comes bearing a tray of brownies he made to thank Jaeyoung. And Jaeyoung doesn’t know it yet but Sangwoo baked them at the tail-end of his heat, still clearheaded but mind a little gooey at the edges. His focus at the time– the entire duration of his heat, really– had been Jaeyoung. He’d wanted to give Jaeyoung something, made with his own hands. He watches, more anxious than he lets on, as Jaeyoung’s obviously delighted by the unexpected treat. He immediately tries one and moans at how good it is, his usual goofball self. Sangwoo scoffs at his dramatic reaction but inside, his omega is deeply satisfied.
Jaeyoung starts courting Sangwoo a bit more overtly– really, he’d been doing it since the beginning, though he hadn’t realized. Again, this is pure fluff so a lot of his “revenge” was him backwards courting Sangwoo lmao.
Moving on, the first time Sangwoo lets Jaeyoung into his nest has got to be A Moment. Maybe it’s late at night and they just finished working on Veggie Venturer. They’re a couple in all but name only– Sangwoo has accepted all of Jaeyoung’s courting, though he might not necessarily realize it!! He wears Jaeyoung’s clothes, accepts his gifts, enjoys their time together in the same bone-deep way Jaeyoung does. Jaeyoung, for his part, is just content to take it at Sangwoo’s pace and take what he’s given. He knows the path they’re on and he’s in no particular rush as long as they heading the right way.
So it’s late at night and Sangwoo is tired and leaning against Jaeyoung from where they’re sitting on his couch. He says it’s time to rest and Jaeyoung rouses himself to head home but Sangwoo stops him, asks if he wants to spend the night.
Exhausted, Jaeyoung says sure, assuming he’ll be on the couch but then Sangwoo takes his hand and starts leading him into his bedroom and Jaeyoung can’t believe it. Suddenly wide awake, Sangwoo turns him toward the bathroom to get ready and he does in a daze. When he comes out, Sangwoo’s in bed– no, in his nest, and Jaeyoung’s heart simultaneously turns over and goes into overdrive.
The nest is surprisingly full, though maybe Jaeyoung should finally stop being so surprised at evidence that Sangwoo indulges happily in his omega nature.
Just in a tshirt and boxers, Jaeyoung stands next to the bed, unsure. It’s wellknown that absolutely no one is to enter an omega’s nest without their permission and sure, Sangwoo said he could sleep in his bed but what if he’s changed his mind–
His thoughts splinter when Sangwoo looks over his shoulder. “What are you waiting for, hyung?”
And, well, okay.
Gently, Jaeyoung climbs into Sangwoo’s nest. And fuck, if he thought Sangwoo’s scent was overwhelming before, it’s nothing to this. Sangwoo’s scent is concentrated deep into the blankets, surrounding them, and Jaeyoung feels lightheaded.
He lays down, breath shuddering as Sangwoo wiggles back into him, as he takes Jaeyoung’s arm and lays it over his waist.
Jaeyoung’s overwhelmed but still so exhausted and he falls asleep almost immediately.
The next morning, Sangwoo wakes up with his head on Jaeyoung’s chest and, still mostly asleep, finds himself searching for Jaeyoung’s scent gland. Jaeyoung’s scent mingled with his, in his nest, makes Sangwoo purr with satisfaction.
He never really understood when omegas talked about how satisfying it was to find a partner and figured it was just biological compatibility. Sangwoo feels that it’s more than that, though, that he does get it now. It makes his omega feel safe and warm. It makes Sangwoo happy. And it’s illogical and too fast but Sangwoo knows that his omega and him are starting to consider Jaeyoung his mate. Not now, but eventually.
Still half asleep, Sangwoo shifts until he can bury his nose in Jaeyoung’s scent and Jaeyoung wakes up to his omega, his Sangwoo, scenting him. He’s happy, giddy with the thought that Sangwoo is staking a claim on him, finally. That might not be his goal or even on his radar but it is undeniably a fact.
I might imagine that this is their first kiss– or first time depending on how the relationship has progressed to this point.
Then we get into Sangwoo’s heat (so this fic takes place over maybe 8 months?) and I’ll HC that this time around, Sangwoo asks Jaeyoung to be his partner and Jaeyoung absolutely melts. It turns out that Sangwoo is very soft and needy– not demanding at all, just very pliant. It’s also, like I said in the beginning, not just sexual. The sex they do have is very slow and gentle and overwhelming but they spend just as much time just being together– they cook dinner together, watch a movie with Jaeyoung’s head resting on Sangwoo’s stomach, making out with Sangwoo in Jaeyoung’s lap. Jaeyoung has a thing for marking Sangwoo and when they’re knotted together, they’re both so happy and giggling as they talk, Sangwoo surprisingly rambling about some silly topic and Jaeyoung so, so found as he listens.
And then, of course, there’s an epilogue with them mating and Sangwoo pregnant and them having kids <3 literally just all the fun fluff parts of an omegaverse AU I literally think it would fit them so, so well!!!!

BL Prompts - Chapter 54 & 55 Links
Prompt from Polnoluniye: We Best Love. Gao Shi De & Zhou Shu Yi. Established relationship. Shide becomes Shuyi's PA like he said. Domestic fluff at work or Shide working to relieve Shuyi of stress at work 😉. I thought Shide had a very strong caretaker vibe in the show. https://archiveofourown.org/works/46255276/chapters/132155080
Prompt from Daunshama: I always find this trope interesting so here goes. Semantic Error. Established relationship. Amnesia. Jaeyoung forgets Sangwoo. You may decide if it should be hurt/comfort or humour. Potentially aged up characters. Happy ending. https://archiveofourown.org/works/46231810/chapters/132206839
Prompt from Taliron: You are simply the queen of Awesomeville 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩….. Thank you much for this. You've made my decision for a prompt quite easy this time…… let's have that conversation between Mu Ren and Li Cheng. Lol. Li Cheng showing his sensitive side in the conference room was a really lovely moment in the show for me. https://archiveofourown.org/works/46255276/chapters/132263587
Prompt from TenLee127: Finding this trope interesting but Lee Wan seeing Ki Tae after gym, his muscular body, is giving him arousal; him having this strength kink that makes him want to be manhandled by him, especially with that body. Thing is, Ki Tae heard his thoughts a little too loud. Of course, he'll make his fantasy come true as he carried him like a bride to the bathroom and shower with him…or is it? https://archiveofourown.org/works/46231810/chapters/132322945

Happy Boxing Day 💙💙💙💙💙
You stretch your body as you wake. Feeling the empty space by your side as you yawn loudly, taking advantage of Sehyoon being where you believe is the bathroom. But when you hear a meow in the corner of the room your alertness drills in to you as you remember the kitten. Sitting up you find Donghun sat on the arm chair at the corner of the room, the little kitten in his palm as he looked doe eyed at the small white fluff ball. “Morning sleepy head,” he said peacefully with no eyes falling from the animal. “Oh you found him,” you said rubbing your sleepy eyes. “You mean my Christmas present, then yes. Sehni said you gifted me this little beauty,” he said finally looking to you smiling.
“Did he shag and run?” you chuckle shaking your head in amusement. “No he just thought you deserved the lie in,” Donghun Smiled before returning back to his new pet. “So what’s our days plan, minus falling in love with the kitten,” you smile removing yourself from the bed. “You mean Beauty? Well first we need to drop him off to my brothers. Hotel is no place for a tiny kitten,” he adds kissing the tiny little nose to what your sure is a pur. “But that’s our baby,” you tease scowling playfully as his eyes widen. “Oh wow so this is a gift for us both?” Donghun pretends to look shocked. “Well you named him after me so obviously,” you gloat confidently. “Why’s that,?” Donghun smirks placing the kitten on his lap. “You saying I’m not beautiful, ouch heart killer,” you mock holding your heart as he struggled to keep his face straight. “Told you my little stress ball that I’m not heart and flowers,” he says with a wink as you grin making your way to him and Beauty. Stroking the settled kitten in his lap you look peacefully as it’s sleeps. Quickened kisses falls upon your cheek as Donghun chases his desire to have his lips on you. Moving your face to kiss him he smirks pushing himself backwards.
“Like that is it Lee Donghun,” you scoff moving to the wardrobe. “So what clothes do I need for today?”
You ask turning to look back at the elder of the five, his eyes glowing in your direction. “For me to know and you to find out,” he winks before taking his attention back to beauty. “Nothing then,” you smirk as he chuckled to himself, “if you wish,” he sniggers without looking your way.
“Ok then,” you say removing your clothes so your naked. Donghun’s eyes blow up taking you in as you walk around the room. You walk to the door opening it letting the cold freeze attack your skin. “Come on then?” You turn to him as he’s mixed between annoyance and admiration. “Fuck Y/N,” he growls as he places the sleeping kitten on the floor to make his way. Pulling you behind him, he slams the door looking thoroughly annoyed at you. “Well you told me I could,” you scoff innocently as he smalled his eyes. “Don’t play me today Y/N, I be counting how many times your a brat and punish you for it,” he snarks making his way over to Beauty once more. “You make that sound as a punishment,” you tease as he turns to face you.
“One,” he growls as you chuckle making the way to the bed parting your thighs to tease him with your naked pussy. “Go get some clothes on before I continue counting your punishments,” he spits out. “But Sir you didn’t say what kind, I don’t want to disappoint you again,” you playfully pout enjoying the view of his tented bulge. “Something to keep you warm,” he said in slight discomfort as he fidgeted in the chair. Lightly smirking at him you made your way to the closet.
“You be good little one,” you cooed brushing your face along the purring pet as Donghun looked Doe eyed at the view. His older brother’s eyes watching you both interact as if the kitten was your baby like you playfully suggested earlier. “Pass him here, you know i’ll look after him,” he said holding the white furry animal. “Introduce you to Hae, while Mummy and Daddy’s doing what ever,” he smirks looking between you both. “What ever hyung,” Donghun snarls holding the larger double of Beauty. “I’ll be back tomorrow,” Donghun says kissing his eldest cat. “What about you?” He smirks in your direction. “She’s busy,” Donghun interrupts before you can say anything, having his Hyungs eyes widen. “Actually I’m not, tomorrow is my time,” you smile knowing that you was free for four days to do as you pleased. “Well you know where I live, come gracefully view yours and Donghun’s baby,” he says playfully. Donghun rolled his eyes placing Hae down. Arms wrapped around your shoulder he leads you out before muttering 2 under his breath. “Bye hyung,” Donghun says behind you as you smirk thinking of all the ways he was going to punish you with some excitement.
He wasted no time attacking you the second you arrived back at the hotel. Lips clashing with you he pushes you against the wall, his hands digging into your hip to bring you towards his thrusting ones. “I should punish you right this second,” he growls. “But I need you,” he pants letting his lips fall from your neck. “You can attend to my needs,” he growls as he pushed you down.
Sitting on your knee he smiles down at you. “Wait there,” he smiles as he moves towards the bed to pick up a pillow. Returning to place it behind your head he lets his jeans and boxes fall to expose his impressive length. Pillow falling into you as your hands pump his shaft while you salivated. Wetting your lips you wrap your mouth around him, letting him growl as you sucked him before starting a pace. His hands reach around your head as he helps to steady you as he fucks into your mouth. Pushing his member as far into your throat that you move back against the pillow pinning it to the wall. “Fuck my little stress ball, your doing so well,” he compliments. He slams himself to the back of your throat leaving you gagging as your restricted. Stuck between his cock and the cushion protecting your head from the wall, he thrusts his speed against you. Gagging around his cock you choke as tears stain your eyes. “Fuck your so good to view choking around me,” he growls as his thighs shake. Hands sliding to fondle his balls his moans nearing his high. Heavy thrusts has your chokes vibrate up his shaft, your head bouncing off the pillow as he looses him self against your mouth. Exploding down your throat you splutter choking on his semen as he withdraws himself. Leaning against the room panting he chuckles. “1,” he pants, letting you know that he doesn’t plan to help your own release, that your throbbing hungry nub is the first punishment.
Exiting the taxi in the revealing blue short dress Donghun brought as your Christmas gift, your body freezes against the cold air. “Where are we?” You question as he joins you from the car. “My friends house, he has a small Boxing Day gathering,” Donghun smiles walking in front of you while you struggle to catch up to his speed.
Past the entrance to the apartments his hands clasp around yours. “Oh look heart and flowers,” you tease as he unusually for him blushes. “Oh shhhh,” he replys like a teenager being caught as you smile at his rare show of cuteness. His grip tightens seconds before he knocks on the door as they slip from you before it opens.
“DongDong,” you heard from the deep voice friend standing by the door. “Sangwon,” Donghun says bumping shoulders before his hand pats his back. “So this must be Y/N,” Sangwon said standing back to look at you. “Yes and eyes off she has enough guys as it is,” he scoffs as he makes his way in to the room, greeting another taller bloke in the corner.
“You can come in,” Sangwon said smiling your way as you blushed nodding. Donghun’s other friends eyes lit up as you came into his frame. You saw them talking, which even you could tell was about you as you looked around the room feeling a little alien. “So your Donghun’s is but not girlfriend,” Sangwon said passing you a beer as you nodded. “I imagined someone a little more wilder, your such a cute little thing,” Sangwon said as words failed you.
“Looks can be very deceiving,” Donghun said reappearing by his side. “Apparently so,” Sangwon said almost sighing. “So your his cute little stress ball then,” you heard the taller bloke say as he found his way to you all. “I guess so,” you said feeling your cheek heat being exposed towards these two strangers. Ones who clearly knew of the pact Donghun and the others had made. “What I can’t understand Donghun, is how this is suppose to be a date, yet you brought her here telling us your chop our dicks off if we touch her,” he teased looking at Donghun. “Such a dick tease, and in this,” Sangwon growled a little lust fallen. You was suddenly startled as the door went, the tall friend stifling a chuckle as Sangwon answered to his new guests.
“My names Seoham,” he smiled holding his hand for yours which you accepted. His warm touch felt inviting as your eyes fell to Donghun, which was slightly smalling in your view.
“Donghun,” you heard a female scream out as a body brushed past you flipping there arms around him. You couldn’t help but oddly feel a sting seeing someone else be more romantically involved in the man you regularly slept with. “It’s been forever,” she shrieked as two more girls joins her, both them greeting Donghun and Seoham. “And who’s this?” The eldest said looking your way.
“A good friend,” Donghun said as your heart stung at his sudden simple explanation for your presence. Biting your lips to hide the pain, Seoham caught you as he looked at you sympathetically. You couldn’t understand why you had any rights to be jealous, but you felt like you wanted to leave that very second.
“My names Jiu, and this is Siyeon,” she said looking to the girl who had hugged Donghun. “And I’m Yoohyeon,” the other girl said with a warm smile that had you mirror. “I’m Y/N,” you said bowing, “ahh she’s cute,” Jiu said before turning back to Sangwon in search of a drink, the girls and Seoham following.
“You jealous?” Donghun whispered in your ear.” My date was to force insecurity from me?” You questioned him as his eyes got lost in yours. “If there is, then it proves that this was a bad idea, too many heart and flowers in date nights,” he said a little more serious. “So you brought me here to prove we couldn’t be just friends on a date?” You asked. “Fine then I suppose I can be foot and fancy free then,” you said into the silence.
Donghun’s eyes widened holding your arm back. “Y/N your still my date, I’ll punish you, don’t forget,” he whispers as you let the pain burn through you. “Then better start counting,” you said hurt as you made your way towards the party collecting around the alcohol table as the door goes once more.
You spend the evening chatting between Sangwon & Seoham as the party collected more members. You had been introduced to Jaeyoung, Hyojin and Rubin alongside three Jin girls who introduced themselves as Heejin, Hyunjin and Ryujin. “Shame Byeongkwan and Sehyoon couldn’t come,” you heard Hyunjin say fluttering her eyes as jealousy bit you.
You had wondered why they had declined the party. Remembering you left Byeongkwan’s earlier message on unread you Found your phone
‘Byeongkwan why did you not come to todays party?”
You asked straightforwardly. As always as if he lived on his phone the three dots typed.
‘Because tonight’s about you and Donghun, why do you miss me? 😉. I knew I was your Favourite. Miss you too baby.’
You smirked into your phone at his confidence. “So that don’t look good, that smiles meant to be reserved for Donghun isn’t it?” Sangwon said finding his way back to you. “I think he only wants there smiles,” you say a little awkwardly. “He’s not into them I promise you,” He said pressing his hands around your shoulder. “But your jealous,” he smirks as you frown his way. “Hey don’t shoot the messenger,” Sangwon said placing his hand over his heart. “A message delivers a message, your delivering wrong assumptions,” you said sarcastically. “Not wrong ones though is it,” he winks as if he’s seen through your pain. “But what good friend would I be if I didn’t help you both out,” he smiles pulling you into him.
“Sangwon what you doing?” You almost whine. “Work with me Y/N,” he says with those brown eyes making you relax against him. Hands around your waist his eyes lock you in and though you can’t see him, you feel Donghun’s eyes shooting icy rays into you. “It’s working he’s green,” Sangwon smirks smiling at the person behind him. “Then he needs a medic,” you say sarcastically earning Sangwon to laugh.
Before long your twirled away from Sangwon’s hold. But instead of Donghun you find Seoham, his hand following to the missing place of Sangwons. “Oh so we’re on the plan get him jealous are we, well I want in,” he smirks.
Your eyes find Donghun who’s whispering into Heejin’s ears as he pushes a hair strand behind. “Ok, we need to push him to buckle,” Seoham says looking towards Sangwon, pointing his head into the direction of the hall. He takes hold of your hand and pulls you in the direction of the bathroom, Sangwon following. Donghun’s jaw tenses as you go past him, a quick look back his fingers poised on three. Your stuck between confusion, excitement for your punishment later, but also anticipation at what his friends was getting you into.
Sitting in the bathroom them both smirking like naughty teenagers, you sat back at the end of the room. “Trust me he’ll be here,” Seoham said smiling looking at Sangwon. Like he predicted minutes later the door of the bathroom opened, Donghun’s seething face exposed. Yet seeing you the opposite of the room to them has his face turn into confusion. “Now don’t tell me you don’t have feelings for her,” Seoham said arms folding his way, “Sneaky fuckers,” Donghun hissed. “We’re leave you two alone then,” Sangwon said smirking as they piled out leaving you two alone.
Door locking Donghun turned to you, his eyes glowing in his most darkest expression. “You want to play games do you?” he growls like a animal ready to attack there prey. “Don’t tell me four,” you smirk feeling quite pleased at seeing Donghun’s vulnerability. Donghun pulls you towards him, “think your being funny do you,” he warns as you refuse to remove the smirk on your face. “Five,” he spits out as he flings you to the sink bending you over.
Fingers pushing along your pants to the side under your short dress. Your eyes meet in the mirror as he raises an eyebrow cockily. Slamming himself into you, moans hit the air that you feel a slap along your ass. “Quiet,” he growls as his hands reach around your waist gripping tightly that you feel his nails dig into your skin. Thrusting hard into you, he fucks you from behind, watching as your teeth dig into your lips to hold your moans at bay. Smiles of pleasure upon his face seeing you struggle he speeds his pace. Hands falling to your hair he tugs hard that you have to squint to see the image in the mirror. Walls clamping around him seems to force his pace to set up a notch. Moans in your ears has your core melt as you struggle towards your high. Thighs shaking you know Donghun’s about to cum, knowing his need to punish you, that if he reaches there before you he wont help your own release. Pushing your ass back to help get closer to your own as you both race towards your high. You fail in your challenge as he reaches before you, filling your pussy with his cum. Removing himself before you can have your high like you feared, you hit your fist in frustration on the bathroom side.
“Four,” he pants fixing himself up as you look at the mess of yourself. Frustrated, red faced, hair a mess and his cum sliding down your leg.
“Don’t forget to clean yourself my little stress ball,” he coos before leaving you in the bathroom.
Looking at your pants that slid down you decide to have fun. You know it means an extra punishment, but it be worth to wipe that smug grin on his face.
Snatching up your pants, scrunching it tightly in your grip after cleaning yourself up, you make your way from the bathroom.
Hands sliding into Donghun’s pocket you smirk his way, “five,” you whisper as his face looks in horror as he feels the fabric.
You know just one bend and your bare ass and pussy will be on show and you smirk at him once greeting Seoham once more. “Told you it would work,” he said patting your shoulder. “Not quite,” you smiled as you whispered into his ear. “Want to know a secret,” you smirk like a naughty girl. “One session with him and you removed the shy girl, wow,” he says. His eyes widen as bright as a button when you inform him Donghun unintentionally has your underwear. Eyes glossing down your body as he gulps that you can hear it over Sangwons background music.
“Fucking six,” you hear a deep whisper in your ear as you feel Donghun’s hands pull you towards him. Sangwon joining the three of you, smiles at the protective manner of there friend. “Deep apology’s I need to get this vixen home,” he says with darkness in his voice. “Just fuck that goddess good for us,” Sangwon says chuckling as Donghun wastes no time dragging you from the party.
“I don’t want to hear a single word till I say so or the punishment increases do you understand?” Donghun ordered dragging you along the corridor to the cold air. “Yes,” you reply as he glared at you, “seven,” he adds smirking as you already was forgetting the rules.
Dragging you through the door of your hotel room he looks at you with his most dangerous glare. “You are so very naughty, you showed me up tonight, was that fun?” He asked as you nodded keeping to his rules. “Your going to regret being such a brat,” Donghun threatened as he tugged your dress spinning you harshly to attack your bra. “All fours on the bed,” he growls making his way to his suitcase.
You obey as you feel a blindfold fall upon your eyes. “Remember not a word not a sound even,” he reminded you as you nodded.
You feel leather bite in your ass from his strike making you yelp. “Seven,” he smirks as his hands rub the stinging away. The number not moving you bite your lip to restrain the need to make a noise. This time you succeeded as he counted to six. He continued striking you with what you soon realised was the flogger. Rubbing your ass gently as the count went down unless you made a noise, which kept it frozen.
Body vibrating between pain and excitedness as your nub throbbed when you got to two. The next strike biting hard with a harsher blow, you could feel the skin slightly burning.
Slamming his cock in you could taste blood from the death grip your teeth made against your lips. “One,” he grunts as your walls clench around him as his last strike falls while he fucks you. Struggling to hold your moans you bite into your fist as he slammed faster. Tumbling into the mattress you heard him tut yet not count as he flipped you onto your back. Tossing your legs over his shoulder he fills you more as he fucks you hard. Gargle noises leave your throat as you struggled to hold your moans in. Ripping your blindfold his eyes bore into you and you feel the intense view as he bites down on his own lips. Feeling your core burn as he raced towards another one of his orgasm, his hands reach around your throat.
“You can moan now my little stress ball,” he chuckles as his grip tightens slightly. Moans flow into the air as you start chasing your high. Donghun’s sounds mixed with yours seems to make your core burn with your release needs to be met. Struggling for air at his tightened grip, lips fall upon yours pushing you over the edge as muffled cry’s push him over his.
After laying on you for ten minutes he moves off you making his way to his suitcase for massage oil. “Baby time to give you a massage, you did good,” he compliments returning to press a more softer kiss against your lips
