I almost forgot that I meant to upload the rookanis final battle conversation as another follow up to Lucanis interrupting Rook saying "I love you," because this great post made me realize that he interrupts Rook a second time, right before the final battle, so he can say "I love you" himself first and not miss his chance this time... and perhaps to also take the bullet for Rook if he truly believes that settling your affairs before the job is done is bad luck

Neve teasing Lucanis about his relationship with Rook

I haven't seen the full lucaneve romance yet but I genuinely love how much they care about each other in every timeline, whether it's romantic or platonic 🥺

I recently saw this great post talking about Rook trying to tell Lucanis "I love you" ahead of the Ghilan'nain battle but he stops them, but I didn't have that happen in my playthrough... and I realized it was from a specific dialogue option and suddenly Rook's awkward opening line and talking to themself afterwards made so much sense in that context

(and of course the added layer to everything that happens between these two after rescuing Rook, with Lucanis's openness with his feelings and making sure to tell Rook he loves them before the final battle, not wanting to miss another chance)

I literally stopped in front of Cole and paused for a while, then came back and clicked on him and he immediately drops this line:

Oh my god... OH MY GOD......

Sometimes I think about how Dragon Age's entire existence seems to have been an uphill battle against EA since it got turned into a series after Origins (which iirc was basically done by the time EA bought the studio) and I am both so thankful for the work the devs put into it to make each entry in the series work as well as they could under whatever circumstances they had but also bitter at how constrained they were/are and how much they get forced to sacrifice for trends like multiplayer. It feels like a curse to be such a long time Bioware fan and hearing certain criticisms where you're like "no wait, they didn't want it to be like that, here's what happened behind the scenes that made it have to be that way and how it was the best scenario they were able to carve out, but yes I also understand that it being the final result gives unfortunate implications" and I think about what being on the developer side of things must be like

I wrote a script I'd been rotating in my head for how Viago might've recruited my Rook (even though timeline wise I feel like it's more likely he just picked them out after they'd already been training with the De Rivas but shhh) and did a rough pass at dividing it up and it's already sitting at nine pages but might expand simply because there's a lot of action in it asljkflsjfls

I already knew this was gonna be one to work up to but oh man it's a bit longer than I expected so far lol

I finished The Wigmaker Job and I have more I might talk about later but for now I can't help but think about how funny it is to see Illario wanting to do these significant kills as cleanly as possible twice and getting thrown by people wanting to draw out those kills for vengeance twice (Illario trying to stealth kill Ambrose and Lucanis wanting to punish Ambrose for his obscene levels of cruelty, Illario setting Lucanis up to be killed and Zara wanting to punish Lucanis for being a menace to the Venatori).
