I almost forgot that I meant to upload the rookanis final battle conversation as another follow up to Lucanis interrupting Rook saying "I love you," because this great post made me realize that he interrupts Rook a second time, right before the final battle, so he can say "I love you" himself first and not miss his chance this time... and perhaps to also take the bullet for Rook if he truly believes that settling your affairs before the job is done is bad luck

Neve teasing Lucanis about his relationship with Rook

I haven't seen the full lucaneve romance yet but I genuinely love how much they care about each other in every timeline, whether it's romantic or platonic 🥺

I recently saw this great post talking about Rook trying to tell Lucanis "I love you" ahead of the Ghilan'nain battle but he stops them, but I didn't have that happen in my playthrough... and I realized it was from a specific dialogue option and suddenly Rook's awkward opening line and talking to themself afterwards made so much sense in that context

(and of course the added layer to everything that happens between these two after rescuing Rook, with Lucanis's openness with his feelings and making sure to tell Rook he loves them before the final battle, not wanting to miss another chance)

Teia : Lucanis should be here. We barely got him back and now…

Illario if Lucanis dies:

Teia : When Lucanis needed light, you were there.

Teia : He should be here now. We'll have our vengeance, Rook. I swear it.

Illario : We've come too far to die now, don't you think?

Illario : Go. Fulfill my cousin's final contract.

Illario : Treviso will have its revenge.

Illario : The First Talon will see it done. He… he never fails, does he?

Illario : Lucanis… I wanted him dead all that time. And now…

Illario : I see only lost time.

Illario : Fighting through a city run by Venatori. It's what Treviso could have been, but worse.

Illario : (Laughs) Was that suitably self-absorbed? Go win again, Rook.
