Title: Golden Boy
Fandom: Lord of the Flies
Words: 413
Summary: "And Jack knew he couldn’t be Ralph’s friend, could barely stand to look at the golden boy, yet thirsted for it all the same."
(This is why I don't write Jalph, guys. But someone requested it, so I tried!)
Link: x
(More like, more interested in the fire than he was in Jack.)
He spent most of his time diving in the pool, or working at the shelters with that batty Simon, and cradling his precious conch. Or talking with that insufferable Piggy.
So Jack hunted. It was something he was good at, something that gave him a thrill, something that distracted him from the golden boy back at the shelters.
He only aimed to please, to impress. But when he couldn’t kill a pig, he was weak, and when he did, he was irresponsible.
Jack pretended not to care, and because he wouldn’t dare hurt Ralph, his golden boy, he took it out on Piggy. Who had given him the right to scold Jack, anyways? Who had given him the right to talk to Ralph, as if the two of them were friends?
And Jack knew he couldn’t be Ralph’s friend, could barely stand to look at the golden boy, yet thirsted for it all the same. Couldn’t look at his mere perfection and know that he was the son his parents always wanted, know that he would never be the best as long as his golden boy was around.
And he hated Ralph for it, yet knew deep down he couldn’t hate the boy, knew he cared too much.
But Jack wanted to have fun, and he wanted Ralph to have fun, to see the weight lifted off his golden boy’s shoulders and to see him smile again.
So the chief invited Ralph to his new tribe, but he refused. He wouldn’t leave his conch, and his Piggy, and his rules. So they knocked out two problems: the conch was smashed to bits and the fat boy pulled out to sea, his blood staining the rocks.
And the rules? Well, they had fallen apart a long time ago.
So his golden boy ran. Ran from Castle Rock and the painful truth crashing down around him. And Jack chased him, for a little ways. And despite the spear in his hand, he couldn’t help but want to pull the golden boy close and kiss his soft hair, whisper it wasn’t too late.
            But maybe it was.
So Roger sharpened a stick at both ends, and the hunt began, Jack thinking that his golden boy couldn’t run again with his head on a pike.

This song gives me feels of EPIC Proportions.  It reminds me of my first OTP Jack/Ralph (I was 15 at the time, don't judge me.)
Anyway a little story, I was riding home with my cousin since I stayed after school to work on a thing for English (we were reading "Lord of the Flies")
Anyway this song was playing on the radio and when I was listening to it, I couldn't help but be reminded of Jack/Ralph, and through out high school and even after that, no matter what version it is; this song still gives me epic feels.
Oddly enough, this song could work for any pairing; like "Fix You,"  "Echo," or any other love song, you can use this song for any OTP and it would work

How the Slash fandom changed my life by Hannabeth Sparrow (tip, listen to the dream from Titanic for maximum effect.)
If you seen my blog and follow me, you'd know that slash fan fiction is my drug, I'm just addicted to it, whenever I see something slashy I get all giddy like a kid a a candy shop. I'm also a huge supporter of GLBTQ rights with dear friends in the GLBTQ community that I care about.
But I wasn't always like this, I was actually the opposite when I was a kid, I found it all to be weird and wrong, I can still remember saying on the morning I found out that Stephen Harper won the election, I said "Finally, we can send the gays to San Francisco." Yeah in retrospect that was probably the stupidest thing I said, and it still haunts me.
Tumblr media
But much later I didn't object it as much, and while I've heard of slash fandom, I didn't pay much attention to it, that all changed when I was 15 and started high school.
It was English class and we were reading the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, we were discussing the book and one of the students said that the boys in the island would've probably end up becoming gay, and while in retrospect it was immature, it got me thinking. Later that evening when I was suppose to do homework, I was actually reading Jack/Ralph slash fan fics. And I was hooked, and by that point I was neutral on GBLTQ rights.
Tumblr media
Later we were reading Julius Ceasar, and our teacher was pointing out that the dialogue between Cassius and Brutus made it seem like they were lovers, needless to say I founded another pairing, and this happened with every book I read in English class for the ongoing years, and I was also more fascinated with not only LGBTQ rights but with writing and slash fan fiction.
Tumblr media
Much later in 11th grade, I was at the library when I noticed an ad for a Allies in Action coffee house event, and looking for inspiration for writing I went, at that point, the ignorance and homophobia was completely gone and that part of me had long since died. When I got there I had a great time, and actually met a couple name Troy and Roger; we then became good friends and they actually invited me to their wedding (it was awesome, I even saw a chipmunk since it was out in the garden that's in an art gallery.)
Soon I went to this GLBTQ youth drop in that before I was too nervous to go to, and soon the people there became the closest and dearest friends that anyone can ask for.
So in the end, a fandom not only helped me get rid of my ignorance, but it helped me be interested in literature, realize my true calling of writing, and break me out of my shell and socialize with people. So to end this story, I want to say to the slash fanfiction fandom and all of my ships...
Thank You...
