In the 1970s, Cher was everywhere. Although her music partnership with Sonny Bono was fading, her solo career was taking off, with a string of hit singles. But while Sonny & Cher's run on the music charts was ending, the duo's run on television was just beginning. With The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and The Sonny & Cher Show, they gave us six seasons of '70s-style television variety shows, filled with music, comedy, and Cher's ostentatious wardrobe (often courtesy of legendary designer Bob Mackie). And on her own, Cher had a two-season run of her own variety show. Between the various shows, she worked with some of the hottest stars of the day. One of the most memorable guest appearances came when The Jacksons visited her solo show, and she performed a medley of the group's hits, singing and dancing alongside Michael Jackson. As Cher makes the rounds promoting her new autobiography, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, we've been looking back at her career and the stories she's told us over the years. When it came to that famous performance with The Jacksons, she said a couple of memories stood out vividly for her.

In light of certain recent topics, I’ve been reminded of the 2017 book ‘Norse Mythology’ by Neil Gaiman. It was a nice telling of the more well-known Norse Myths, but there are LOTS of other options out there for people wanting to learn more about Norse Mythology—you don’t have to support that predator to learn about the gods.

Below is a list of some of the other resources that I’ve used. It’s not exhaustive by any measure—just what I’m familiar with and what comes to mind as I sit here at my desk at work. If anyone else has any additional recommendations, please add them to the list!

Norse Mythology for Smart People - norse-mythology.org

This was where I first started when I wanted to learn about Norse Mythology years ago—I literally just typed “Norse Mythology” into google and clicked the first result like a noob. But this site does a really good job of giving information on a wide range of topics within norse mythology as well as vikings in a general sense—everything from different gods, goddesses, creatures, places, and major stories. It’s a solid encyclopedic source that I would recommend to anyone wanting to get general information on the mythology.

If podcasts are your jam, the best by far in my opinion is ‘Norse Mythology: The Unofficial Guide’. At the time of me writing this, there haven’t been any new episodes for 6 months, but there are 37 episodes that are about an hour each & range on a variety of topics from cosmology to specific deities to stories like Ragnarok or specific topics like runes. It does a fantastic job of explaining each topic in a way that is both thorough and accessible & honestly I can’t recommend it enough.

If you want to go deeper into Old Norse texts like the Eddas or the Havamál, the ‘Northern Myths’ podcast is the place to go for a very deep dive/discussion on these texts. The episodes are long and sometimes get a little dry, but they do read these texts directly and then discuss each passage, so it’s a decent place to go for some deep discussion on some of the pillars of Old Norse texts.

Most people who get into Norse Mythology/History become familiar with Jackson Crawford pretty quick. He’s an expert specifically in linguistics and the Old Norse language—which includes runes—but he also has extensive knowledge on Old Norse & “Viking” history & culture. He’s previously taught at UCLA, UC Berkeley, and University of Colorado, and now has an extensive Youtube channel. He’s also been a consultant for projects like AC:Valhalla. If you have a question about Old Norse & would like to have a soft-spoken, no-nonsense cowboy in the wilds of Colorado explain it to you, this is your new home.

percy jackson loves how good you are with your bow and arrow. he sucks majorly at archery so when you found this out you did everything in your power to teach him to be just as good as you were. this took four months. but! the good thing was that he learned eventually. it took this long solely because every time you were explaining something his eyes would trail down to your lips and he’d zone out and one thing leads to another now he’s kissing you and now you’re kissing back and now you’re not even in the archery field anymore— it’s a whole thing. during the fourth month you got sick of his nonsense and forced him to finally listen to your words and he ended up finally learning basic archery (he later earned a reward for his obedience). besides your great archer skills you’re also skilled at painting. like usual, percy loves to fool around. you’ll have your canvas out and paint sprawled along your pallet but this dumbass takes a finger of paint a spreads it over your face. you both end up covered in paint and your work long forgotten. you made a mental note never to let him paint with you again, but knowing percy and his gorgeous sea green eyes you had no choice but to let him join you again. though you do warn him not to play around with your paint or he’d wake up blue (he probably wouldn’t mind this though)

jason grace is utterly obsessed with your singing voice— most to all nights this is the only thing that can soothe him to sleep. but not even just during the evening, it’s basically mostly throughout the day when you’re singing to him. sometimes you even play a variety of musical instruments to add onto the factor (he ended up learning how to play piano thanks to you). and!! another thing he loves about you is your poetry, especially when the poems are about him, those make his knees go all weak and his cheeks flush pink and he’s such a school girl, it’s ridiculous. but he loves your poems regardless if they’re about him or not, he likes listening to your sweet-like-honey voice and your extremely high vocabulary (gods, he loves your high vocab). along with your love for poems you also share a love for reading, often you’ll find old books to read together, whether it’s together, or separately then you talk about them later, he adores talking about nerdy books together. and since writing is something dear to you and your siblings you wrote your own novel some day with the help of your boyfriend (he’s your number one supporter), including a sweet dedication to him as a thank you and an I love you

leo valdez takes advantage of your healing abilities. every hour he shows up in the infirmary with a new injury whether it’s a small cut or something serious. after a while you started to realize he was purposely hurting himself so he could see you during your work. you scolded him for this and told him you’d much more appreciate his visits if he wasn’t hurt all the time. so after you told him this he started spending less time with his trinkets and getting hurt and more time bothering you in the infirmary (additionally bothering your patients). you’ve found, though, it’s not so easy to care for your patients when your boyfriend has permanently attached himself to you, you eventually had to restrict him from seeing you during your working hours. but do you think this would stop him? no it did not. every day he would wait for you outside as you work, your siblings scold him and tell you to take care of him so that resulted in you getting kicked out of the infirmary too. though with this new free time and all your siblings busy you were able to get the cabin all to yourselves!!

luke castellan is pretty sure every room you walk into instantly brightens up with beams of sunshine (not even figuratively, he really does believe this). your aura is enough the blind the regular man— but lucky for luke he is no regular man, he’s your boyfriend. unfortunately, this does have its downsides, which includes you waking up at the literal ass crack of dawn watching as the sun rises. slowly and carefully you slip yourself from his arms to sit on the porch of cabin eleven as you watch the sky switch from a dark purple/black hue to various colors including orange, pink, or yellow (sometimes all three if your dad is feeling generous enough). over time, though, luke realizes you aren’t in his arms anymore— the first time this happened he was confused and searched frantically for you, but eventually he gets used to you waking up early. on some mornings he will sit outside with you (he loves the way your irises get all bright and yellow at this time of day), he likes how everything is quiet and tranquil and this is one of the only times he’s able to spend alone time with you. he savors these moments over anything else in his life

Roommate takes control part 6 (Team Baby)

Jackson unpacked all the stuff he'd had delivered from the Ebay seller, and loaded it into the closet of the spare room at the end of the hallway. He laughed as Scott and Caleb helped him unpack some of it, placing it into the dresser and the closet. They were still surrounded by boxes though. The guys had spent the last 72 hours totally transforming this room. The results were shocking.

Caleb unfolded a romper which was printed in cartoon baseballs and bats. He held it out, showing off its front. "My Little Slugger" He cackled. "Where the fuck did you buy this stuff Jackson? An adult sized romper with sports prints?"

"Dude. You cannot believe what you'll find on the internet. I got tons of shit. Basically, we have a complete assortment of baby stuff sized for Mason. I got him daytime clothes, PJs, and a bunch of other stuff that the OnlyFans payers said they wanted to see." He pointed toward a box, "Open that one" he suggested to Caleb.

Caleb slit the tapes on a big box and folded open the top. He pulled out a plastic wrapped bag of diapers, and ripped open the package. He pulled out a large, thick disposable diaper, that was fully printed with baby prints. His eyes went wide.

"Yeah, I even ordered 3 or 4 different varieties of printed diapers. I tell you what buddy, we got everything." He gestured toward another couple boxes "Somewhere in here we even have adult sized baby bottles and shit"

Scott groaned and adjusted his package. "We got to feed this guy too. It's not enough to just be changing his diapers. This better be some serious cash buddy" the jock said while stacking the printed diapers onto the shelf above the wide flat dresser "Dude, I'm not even going to bother putting these in the closet. Let's just stack the extra diapers under the adult baby crib.

Dude did you say adult baby crib?"

Caleb laughed. As he walked over an unfolded a plastic backed printed mat over the top of the rail. "Does this help you figure out what this is? It's a fucking adult sized baby crib" Scott groaned even louder and then laughed.

Later that afternoon, Jackson grabbed Mason as he was coming back from class. He was in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. His crotch ballooned outward, the telltale sign of a diaper underneath.

"It's about time to film a little more for the site, Mason." And with that, Caleb appeared behind him with a video camera.

Jackson asked, "How's my boys' diaper?" As Mason lay on the changing table for this diaper check. All while being filmed by Caleb. This time revealing his entire body and face.

"That's better" said Caleb from behind the camera. Mason grinned a little bit and waived to Caleb. They guided Mason past his room, down the hallway to the newly outfitted room.

Mason waddled slightly as he walked down the long hallway in just his diapers. "We're passing my room!" He called out as the guys guided him down the hall.

"Not your room anymore champ" Jackson said. "We, uh, had to move you to accommodate some changes you been going through buddy. You didn't think I was going to keep changing your diapers on the floor and bed, did you?"

With that, Scott pulled open the door to the room, and panned the camera inside, taking in the room. 3 of the guys from the team were already in there. Mason waddled up to the door and looked in. Jackson gave him a gentle shove from behind as the boy gasped.

The room could not be described as anything other than a massive nursery.
