@jackredfieldwasmyjacob so in terms of that 'not picking up for scams' thing, I suppose that's valid with a regional variation (e.g.: idk how common these scams are in other countries, but scams over the phone have become increasingly rare in Bulgaria, as opposed to text or email scams)

though I was mostly referring to a tendency I've seen online in the past 10 years where everyone just unanimously agreed they hate talking on the phone and therefore, never pick up the phone

whereas to me, in my mind, a phone call gives everything a sense of urgency. I get anxious when I have a missed call because all I'm thinking of is "SHIT! What happened?!" and I need to know immediately, especially if I'm expecting something.

I am comfortable telling you in private what I work as but not on an ask 😊 (it's not all that interesting tho)

I don't mind telling you what I studied. I majored in AV Com... specialized in Production (bc I was apparently the only person in my damn year that had actually seen an excel spreadsheet before the cursory economics/accounting class that is mandatory and someone had to remind the screenwriting and directing teams that we had a damn budget and schedule to follow... Basically bc I was the one making said budgets and schedules)

earlier today i saw that you're from scotland so I wanted to know, do you speak scots and / or gaelic ???? and on that topic, what languages do you speak / are learning / want to learn???

(also there's a slight possibility i might do my ph.d in edinburgh, it all depends on funding but !!!! )

this is the awkward moment where i say that i'm english, i just invaded and now i live up here 😂 i can recognise a few words and say even fewer, but i always get excited when i drive north enough that gaelic finds its way onto a signpost

as far as languages i speak goes... english. badly. and then i can sing a decent number of eurovision songs in a variety of languages... unfortunately schools are underfunded in the uk and given that everyone in the world these days seems to learn how to speak english, languages are not a priority here at all. we learn enough to pass an exam, if any, but we aren't given the resources or skills needed to learn a language as adults in our free time

i really want to learn italian, and next time i see an A1 class open up i'm booking onto it. i live west of glasgow and was thinking about enrolling on one in edinburgh this new year but it was in person only, which sucked. i've got my eye on various university websites for evening classes to pop up for the new academic year, though!
