drives me crazy thinking about how Shauna said how much she HATED feeling like Jackie possessed her and controlled every decision she made

only for her to turn around and be the one to possess Jackie. she literally consumes every possible thing about her. physically, emotionally. I mean she literally takes over her life, marrying Jeff and staying in Wiskayok to have a family. poppies everywhere, on her dress, on her wedding cake, in her house. she allows Jackie's parents to treat her like I'm sure they probably actually treated Jackie (because even though all they do is compare Shauna to Jackie, I'm sure if Jackie was still alive they'd be just as critical of her)

Shauna hated their codependency but ultimately she was the one who couldn't let it go

the characters have always been dead, i think thats the whole point of the show. they didn’t die when the wilderness took them they didnt die when the real world ate them. they were already dead long before they got on the plane. i guess in a way it gave them a chance to become something greater something primordial and those who couldn’t adapt who couldn’t change they had no place there (maybe they could’ve been smth in the real world but this is the wilderness. adapt or die) but the others aren’t any better they’re living on borrowed time and sooner or later the wilderness is gonna want it back. they left it and took its secrets. thats not fair it told you those secrets so you could live and thrive in it, so you wouldnt die and leave it all alone again but you did and now it wants everything back

YELLOWJACKETS APPRECIATION WEEK 2023 day three: favorite dynamic ➣ SHAUNA x GHOST JACKIE

A lot of shauna's issues with jackie seems to be caused by her choosing to warp and misconstrue the meanings behind Jackie's behavior. For example, people call Jackie selfish because through Shauna's eyes, we see her ask to go home first and neglect shauna's curfew, but we also see how Jackie fakes it through Jeff's physicality and changes her mind about saving her virginity. In one of the ghost Jackie hallucinations, Jackie says that Jeff said that "he didn't think he could be with someone he couldn't have sex with," and Shauna says "I didn't know," and Jackie says "Yes you did" because I think she did know. I don't think that was something that was made up, I think it was something she also felt guilty about. so I feel like it's implied that Jackie changed her mind about her virginity because she was being sexually coerced and wanted to keep the relationship she'd had since freshman year (in a comphetty way!) but since she didn't enjoy him or his advances that she was enduring the whole night (but shauna chose not to see that and decided to get mad at tai instead 💀) she wanted to get home first.

and this is because... well, we see a bit of it in their doomcoming fight. Shauna projecting about being in Jackie's shadow? She does think Jackie is is that great, and for her own sanity maybe because she needs to think Jackie might be as questionable a person as she is. Jackie's genuine niceness threatens her because she knows she's the type of person to get pregnant by someone else's man 💀 eat her best friend
