i keep listening to music that reminds me of you. and it almost makes me feel a little pathetic that every time, it just fills me with so much relief. do you even like surf rock anymore? i know you did then but i was just kind of whatever about it; i'd just listen to it knowing that it was something you liked.

i like it now, though. is it because of you? i guess it's impossible to say for sure, but damned if it doesn't make me miss you more.

i don't know why i keep talking like you're reading these. i know you're probably not, but part of me still wants to think that you're out there, somewhere. which is honestly kind of a cruel irony, considering the uh. well, you know, the everything. but old habits die hard, haha. - jacket 🐓

Hey, buddy.

Being a good person is a mix of an instinct for humans and a discipline to not let petty, temporary emotions control your actions. Don’t try and focus too much on the big picture, and instead look at smaller things. Helping bugs and worms make it to the grass, giving people in need money or food, lending someone you’re close with your jacket for a day. All of these things can help one improve.

Heck, the fact that you’ve come to someone, the fact that you made the conscious choice to tell someone you want to be a better person is a sign that you’re willing to improve, and that’s an important step.

You’re already on the right path, Jacket. Keep it up!

i've mentioned but i was a HUGE synthwave/vaporwave/electronica guy back then. music you listen to while playing the game? literally 80% of my music taste then, especially stuff with really heavy basslines. could also fuck up some city pop thought, rlly anything that you could just pop into the cassette or CD player of your car and drive to for hours was my jam. still is, actually! a lot of my music taste has carried over, though i do listen to more stuff now.

beard would also recommend and send me stuff, sometimes. usually stuff he knew i'd like but also sometimes stuff he enjoyed and wanted to see what i thought (he was actually way more of a music head than i was). he'd mail me cassettes he'd find in the wild and when he was gone i kept listening to them over and over until they started to degrade.

on the topic of things i like now that are similar, i'm just gonna leave you guys with the artist modest by default. that guy doesn't get enough love, i think. - jacket 🐓

(...on a slightly unrelated note, i miss cars having players for physical media. my first car in this life used to have a CD player and i miss that thing every day.)
