On The Jukebox: Trevor Horn - "Echoes: Ancient And Modern"
Tumblr media
Bit of a different spin on a covers album as it's been put together by a producer, not an individual artist. As such, the album features a variety of vocalists. This feels very much like a "not to everyone's taste" kinda project and the reviews have been all over the place. Track listing as follows:
Tori Amos - "Swimming Pool (Drank)" (originally performed by Kendrick Lamar)
Seal - "Steppin' Out" (originally performed by Joe Jackson)
Rick Astley - "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" (originally performed by Yes)
Lady Blackbird - "Slave To The Rhythm" (originally performed by Grace Jones)
Marc Almond - "Love Is A Battlefield" (originally performed by Pat Benatar)
Iggy Pop and Lambrini Girls - "Personal Jesus" (originally performed by Depeche Mode)
Steve Hogarth - "Drive" (originally performed by The Cars)
Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp - "Relax" (originally performed by Frankie Goes To Hollywood)
Andrea Corr and Jake Lukeman - "White Wedding" (originally performed by Billy Idol)
Jack Lukeman - "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (originally performed by Nirvana"
Trevor Horn - "Avalon" (originally performed by Roxy Music)

16, 20, 30 for music asks!
16:One of your favorite classical songs
Morning Mood, I listened to it to get to sleep when I was young (this was before I heard it used in a single piece of media, which is a miracle)
20:A song that has many meanings to you
I have no idea, Where Is My Mind by the Pixies? Because it could be used to describe several life struggles? *vague hand gestures* you get me?
30:A song that reminds you of yourself
'Georgie Boy' by Jack Lukeman, a song that was sung to me a lot as a child

TBF Yuga has been shafted these recent arcs. I have no idea why they had Luke be the one to defeat Yuga Goha AND be the one to restore everyone's memories (and also spend a borderline filler episode beating Yuga right after saying he would be okay losing to him...), the only thing that Yuga has really done since beating the Lukeman is roll out the Real Time Rush Installation and he's otherwise been weirdly in the background.
Tumblr media
Yeah which I've admitted.
I think Luke defeating Goha Yuga was honestly to make up for his being a complete and total jackass in the second half of the Goha CEO arc where his goofy personality went to complete asshole (frankly I think a lot of the employee arc was trying to rehabilitate him from that series of Poor Decisions on the Bad Decision Dragon).
I also think a lot of Yuga's losses were also meant to be padded by wins and we're dealing with the fact we lost... what, 6 to 8 episodes they could of used for Luke.
Luke didn't restore everyone's memories. Gakuto, Asana and Nail were restored by their friends. Luke mostly restored the memories of C-Listers (and the Photography Club and Yoshio were more tied to his misadventures).
Yuga also repaired his Maximum, we got his background with Nanaho, a huge chunk of the Employee arc was literally "Who is Ohdo Yuga anyways", he did help work to suss out Roa, he definitely wanted to bring back Gakuto's memories, etc.
The basic problem, besides what I think is story compression is Yuga is Sherlock Holmes, Luke is what if Watson was Joey Wheeler. Yuga tends to avoid dominating the plot because he's Mr. Answers and Mr. Resolves everything, so a lot of the plot tends to be from the perspective of his friends, and Yuga tends to only end up in stuff due to other people's actions.
But the story is very much about his actions and how his choices completely changed the world of Dueling, and everyone reacting to him.
But he hasn't disappeared as badly as I think everyone thinks. Yuga's just more subdued. He's Yusei to Luke's WRGP Jack/Crow, who were much more colorful and bombastic characters, but Yusei was still the story fulcrum.

This may be kind of a stretch, but is it possible Otes sent the helmet to Luke?
We know Yuo wants to crush Rush Duels, so it could be that this is Otes's way of helping in some way. I know he's been pretty questionable lately, but I do think he wants Rush Duels to grow. If you think about it, if anyone would have another copy of Fusion it's him. And looking back, Otes was quite flashy during his appearance at the tournament when Yuga was little, not unlike The✩Lukeman was.
Otes has been quiet lately. He's the only one I can think of who would be capable of something like this. Of course, he's not going to be so direct, so he's going to be supportive in his own way.
I still don't approve of Luke being mind-jacked though.

Can I suggest Ode to Ed Wood by Jack Lukeman for Molly?
You may! I can’t find the lyrics to this song anywhere, unfortunately, and can’t make out a lot of the words, but I did hear “I like girls and I like boys” and the whole vibe of the song makes me want to party, so I’d say it’s very Molly. Love it!
Come yell at me about songs that remind you of Critical Role! (Playlist | song masterlist & spreadsheet by disasterhumans | CR music tag)
