hiya! i’ve been following you for a while now and i really love your blog! i’m interested in going and buying succulents and other such plants and i was wondering what kind of online resources helped you the most in terms of learning about soil quality for specific plants, times to spend out in the sun, watering frequencies, etc? thank you have a wonderful day!
The forums on GardenWeb have been extremely helpful, not just with succulents but with almost all plants I’ve had questions about.
I’ve used CactiGuide as a resource for cacti ID. Plus their page on cacti pests and diseases is especially helpful.
Other than those two, my main online resource has been tumblr. There are so many different people and blogs that have helped even in the smallest of ways, and I def can’t remember all of them (quite a few are no longer active, unfortunately). Here are a few that stick out in my mind:
@jacculents @syngoniums, @omgplants, @plantanarchy , @markunsan, @cactusmandan, @flora-file, @feeelingalright

I’ve been neglecting my plants for a few weeks now that our country is going into the second month of second lockdown.
They are definitely not happy :’)))

If your house is well ventilated and sheltered from harsh rain and sunlight, these succulents would thrive just fine without needing cool climate. Yes! Even echeverias! They would need occasional fungicide though.

Thornless cacti are still my favourite after a decade of trying our many different species. They are the true lazy people plant- left alone after months with no water and they’ll still be absolutely fine.

Ceropegia Woodii, relatively easy to care for, doesn’t like too much sunlight and is rather sensitive to water. Also called strings of heart (look at them shapes!!!)
The variegated version is even prettier eheheeh

LOOK AT MY NEW ECHEVERIA LAUI!!!!! I AM SOOO EXCITED!!!!
It’s been a dream of mine to get this beaut because of its angelic and magical look. It’s SOOO WHITEEE and looks just like a snowball!!!!!!
How can a plant look this amazing?!
Ok still, I need extra care to make sure this new gem of mine doesn’t die in my hands, because apparently it doesn’t like a lot of rainwater and needs almost full day of direct STRONK sunlight. (VERY expensive too......) I am even building a special roof just for this guy. It BETTER not die.

Graptopetalum Purple Delight.
10/10, never had huge problem with this species in our Malaysian climate. Totally recommended!
Look how much the whole family has been growing in a year :3

This is the first time I’m having an Orostachys blooming in my garden! I honestly never expect to have a blooming one here because it’s simply too hot for any succulent to bloom :(. As far from what I know, succulents need a high temperature difference to bloom, and where I’m staying ranges between 26 to 35 in degree celcius. HEH. Cacti bloom quite often here, and echeverias NEVER do.
A pleasant surprise, but a deadly one. An orostachys bloom should be terminated because they kill the plant body, or so I’ve read. Let’s see if this adult (biggest orostachys I’ve grown from a baby plant!) boehmeri survives its blooming!

These  Mammillaria gracilis are weirdos. They are (deemed by me) one of the cacti that UTTERLY love being watered. I mean, seriously, they look so much happier when it rained everyday than when cloud is non-existent.
If you are a beginner, I highly recommend these babes: SUPER common, doesn’t mind low light condition, doesn’t mind torture-level DIRECT sunlight either, doesn’t mind being watered everyday, propagate EZPZly, what more can you ask tbh.

Another corner of my succulent garden. It’s nearing the Malaysian Chinese New Year season where we get abundant sunlight, the usual high humidity and little to no rain. The plague (rainy) season is finally over, and these fellows couldn’t be happier.
Here’s to another year of blossoming, healthy succus.

The rainy season’s hitting hard, but my succulents are still cool with the extra moisture. They’re all playing the Hunger Games secretly, counting down to the last survivor...
I’m just being dramatic. Yes I do lose one or two succulents here and there BECAUSE IT’S BEEN RAINING FOR WEEKS NON STOP but the situation is still controllable.
Rainy season also means happy moss. Happy moss = happy Jack. Yes to mosses.
