#j k rowling is a terf

Heyo, me again :D! So I've got a little problem. See, I made a post about the...business with Neil Gaiman, where I compared him to J K Rowling. Welllll, the terfs found it, terfs on tumblr what WILL they think of next, and I'm now experiencing my first ever internet dog pile. It's not that bad atm, but I was wondering if you had any advice in case it escalates?
Block frequently and confidently. Most importantly - you CAN walk away from the computer/site when your mental health needs it. Constant hate and attacks are mentally and emotionally draining. Attackers are hoping to drive you to despair and anger, but ultimately even they get bored. They may return later, but there will be lulls in the attacks simply because their own dopamine hits from being shitheads need to be sated elsewhere. Once that lull occurs, then you will be in a better state to deal with the existing ones (blocking as needed and whatnot) rather than right in the middle of the fight. Also, fuck terfs.

Poly! Jegulus x gn! Reader - When there is no logic, look deeper
A/n: I decided to go with a different analogy for James's and Regulus's relation than I normally do (and what everyone else normally does.) So have fun with this little drabble!
Summary: Your relationship with James and Regulus through Remus's perspective.
Warnings: Swearing, brief mentions of child abuse, brief mentions of mental health issues (if you squint,) I think that's it? You have been warned!
The Three P's:
[Pronouns used: you/your] [Pov: 2nd person] [Pairings: (romantic!) (poly!) jegulus x reader, (romantic!) wolfstar, (platonic!) marauders]
I do NOT support J. K. Rowling, or any transphobic/homophobic things she says (or anything she says really), or TERFS!
Regulus and James fit together, in a neat messy puzzle. James's darker skin contrasting with Regulus's more pale, like the sun and it's moon. Recently, Remus had been reading some muggle plays of man named Shakespeare, and just by looking at the two, he could tell that he would've written down every piece of their love story, until he knew it by heart.
The enigma, the question, he just couldn't find the answer to was you, because Regulus and James were different sides of the same coin. Slytherin and Gryffindor, light and dark, sun and moon. You just didn't fit as nicely into the big picture.
That's what he used to think anyway, before the marauders and everyone else had gotten to know you. To Remus, he used to think of you as a temporary escape for the two boys, as you were the only one out of the three who had a normal life. It was harsh, but it was the only answer to the equation he could come up with.
Remus's life hadn't been full of answers, maybe that's why he tried to find the solution, so there would be no more variables. So he didn't have to attempt to find the solution later, when they most needed it most. So maybe, just once his life could be left with more answers than questions.
Action reaction, like getting bit by a werewolf - he was one of them now. Finding Sirius, James, and Peter on the train - becoming friends. Gaining feelings for Padfoot, confessing them and becoming a couple. (Okay, maybe there were multiple steps to that equation.) Everything had a solution, something he liked to find to keep himself sane. When everything else in his life was swirled with insanity.
You fitting into the equation didn't follow a path of logic, it was completely and utterly crazy.
Now, he sees what he didn't before, the way you would stay with James even when the smile slipped from his lips. How you would listen to Regulus, and give him space to talk about his family troubles, why he stayed.
You would let James cry, and make Regulus giggle, the planets didn't just revolve around the sun now. Now the moon and it's star revolved around you.
You were a nebula, because when a person looked at you, they gasped in wonder. Everything unknown and beautiful was you, a glittering cloud of normalcy and love. Nurturing but fleeting if need be.
One time, Sirius said he and his brother were the stars, and you only laughed, shaking your head.
"Regulus is like the moon, for so long we thought we couldn't reach him, until we did."
Remus's boyfriend looked startled, Remus could agree with the feeling. How had you, just made sense of someone so complex, with so many strings and layers, with just a sentence?
The werewolf wanted to see how you would respond if he asked you about everybody at Hogwarts, about the ministry, his family. Instead, he asked you about your other boyfriend.
"James?" You smiled softly, and for some reason it warmed Remus's heart, that when you thought about his friend, you immediately were happy. As if just thinking about him was enough to revel in his sunlight.
"James is the sun, he's bright, but sometimes his brilliance gets the peoples eyes, it can annoy them. Until he gets farther away." You still had a pleasant look upon your face, but your eyes were brightly alight with sadness. "Then it's winter, and they long for summer again, because then the sun could be there to warm them a second time. Regardless of its blinding sunlight."
Remus thinks, that was the moment that he started to understand why James and Regulus had both fallen for you. You were the beautiful unknown, a nebula, out of reach, but oh, so beautiful to gaze upon.
Remus still didn't quite comprehend how you fit into the grand scheme of things, but he thinks, he starting to see the big picture.

God people will just come up with the wildest conspiracy theories (its a plot by terfs! Somehow! Because this has anything to do with trans people?) Instead of just like. Being normal about wanting to defend their faves. Like you can just call victims liars without all this?
Anyway at *best* he took advantage of power imbalances twice (by his own admission!) So like. Thats still predatory.
(And this "oh but consider the news source" is a bit bullshit when there has been police involvement. Which goes back to 2022. So like. What does this have to do with David Tennant and j k Rowling please stop)

This is less of a confession
But as someone who's not in the fandom and has only had drop out for a few months I'm confused as to why a lot of people are cancelling their subscription
Has anything specific happened? Have they done/said something bad?/genQ
Cuz i don't want to support them if they are but i also haven't seen anything from their accounts that sounded bad
They haven't said anything bad, nor do I personally believe they need to be boycotted based on their actions (but also I'm not an authority figure of any kind, so whatever, do what you want, live your life)
This particular boycott is over transfem representation within dropout being low. Pretty much the only current show with tranfems regularly on it is Monet's Slumber Party (since Play It By Ear isn't being renewed) so unless you're into drag, there's not much going on for you. A combination of Play It By Ear not being renewed for further seasons and a Dirty Laundry episode where every time anything vaguely sexual was the secret, everyone guessed Persephone Valentine, has also caused some people to start to feel like Dropout isn't as supportive of tranfems as they'd like it to be.
Then you throw in 2 seasons of Misfits & Magic, a dimension 20 season(s) that is inherently related to Harry Potter, and therefore J K Rowling, and therefore TERFs, without having a transfem cast member despite the fact that like, a third of Dropout's regular tranfem rep has been on D20, so they had people to invite (which ofc we don't know if they did or not for sure, but people do believe having a tranfem / jewish person on the cast was important).
People on tumblr have been talking about this for a bit now, among other details (people can add to this in the notes if they want) and due to a lack of an immediate response compared to the last issue that we brought up with dropout, have felt like their best option to be heard was by putting their money where their mouth and canceling their subscription until something changes.

The Harry Potter series got popular enough that I learned about all the characters and plot elements from cultural osmosis without picking up a single book. Eventually I reasoned that this might be a series I enjoyed, even though I'd been spoiled on all the major developments and the ending. Sometimes it's worth hearing a story you already know just for the telling.
But then J. K. Rowling revealed herself as a raging TERF, actively squandering her reputation and considerable fortune to persecute transfolk. I realized any money I spent on her books would fuel her engine of hate, so I reconsidered. To this day, have never actually any of her work outside of the occasional excerpt I've seen online.
Later after I joined Tumblr, I noticed that Neil Gaiman maintained a blog there. Again, I'd never interacted much with his work. But I knew he was a big damn deal and I was stunned to see someone that famous be that accessible, posting witty observations and answering questions from random people. He even responded to a question I sent him, providing me with some admittedly valuable writing advice. And I thought to myself, "Well, if I like his Tumblr posts that much, I'll definitely have to sit down and read some of his books."
Then the sexual assault allegations came out. I was disinclined to believe them because I'd never heard of the website that broke the story. And I remembered a similar smear against George Takei turned out to be false. So I waited to see if the story grew legs. It proceeded to grow tentacles instead.
More women have spoken up, and earlier this week I read the Vulture/New York piece outlining all the things Neil Gaiman has done to so many women over the years, in detail that goes beyond "not safe for work" straight into "not safe for lunch".
To put my own spin on that "Phineas and Ferb" meme: "If I had a nickel for every time I considered reading a beloved author's books just before they were exposed as a monster, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?"
BTW, in the event @neil-gaiman should read this: I get that you had a traumatic childhood that left you with a control complex, but not everyone who suffers abuse inflicts that abuse on other people. You are no longer a victim; you are a victimizer. Someday in the future, people will be able to enjoy your works again, but only divorced from the context of the person who wrote them. For the moment, you are getting what you deserve and you deserve everything you get.

You’re all knowing, what the fuck is a terf
Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist
Refers to people who, despite describing themselves as feminists, have some varying degree of transphobic outlook
A prominent example would be author J. K. Rowling
And now to hope they don't find and kill me for this

i stopped reading hp fanfiction shortly after the whole witch hunt has started ca. 2020, partially bc ive grown too tired of fanon and in the rise of anti JK Rowling campaign I went to revisit all her works, the hp series included, and was baffled by how good it was on its own and how unimaginative and sometimes regressive many fan works looked in comparison. also, people were getting annoying " fuck JKR the nasty terf", mantra in the notes to fanfiction, so i just quited it all together. but i have a great pleasure of knowing that no matter how hard they try and hate on her, her name will always be on the headers of their works whether they want it or not and they can't change it. all their fanfiction is in the category "Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling" 😁
If it's any consolation i stopped reading HP fanfiction in like 2007 so your tolerance threshold is wayy above mine!

Is there anyone else who kinda feels bad sometimes for being in the Marauders fandom? I just see all these people leaving this fandom either bc it has become toxic, or because it's still connected to J. K. Rowling even though we turned her story around and against her (by adding lgbtq rep).
Like I really want to have this. As an autistic with very few special interests, Harry Potter has been one for most of my life (for around 10 years). It was heartbreaking leaving the main fandom (still did bc of that terf). I want to hold onto this version since it's mostly fanon while still having the characters I know and love (although with our own twists).
My other special interest isn't something I can connect to others through. I crave a community, and this is the only one I have. But it almost feels like I'm in the wrong, doing something I shouldn't be.
I'm not really in other fandoms. At least not even close to the same intensity as this one. And I have a hard time reading and such bc of depression + ADHD. So it's not like I can try to join another big fandom. I don't have the energy nor focus to read a new franchise.
